Ok, not only did Moon Dong Eun avenge the villains of this story. She found love afterwards and was able to pursue architecture like she always wanted to. She now dresses freely with her tattoo, proudly showing her scars. She's no longer confined to her trauma. Dong Eun got her revenge AND her happy ending!
Even though she was so convinced that she's a terrible person for wanting revenge, she actually managed to touch the lives of the people around her through simple acts of kindness (empathizing with them for being victims) and those same people came back to support her as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's usually "revenge is bad" this "you got revenge but at what cost" that, but no, she got her revenge AND her and other people's happy ending. Even though it's a dark story about how victims suffer, there's always the underlying message of hope, where they also understand and help eachother. Even if they had to bend the rules to get it, The. Victims. Won. Oh. My. Goodness.
In the end, it wasn't exactly just "revenge," it was also about bringing justice to the victims.

Omg, that picture of kyo getting his make up done for the saw music video reminded me of a conversation I had with my kid about a month ago.
He saw a picture in my computer of dir en grey and asked if I was sad they don't make music any more, when I said they do make music and were on tour, he asked to see a recent picture, I showed him one and he said "Why does the singer have two arms?" To which I am completely flabbergasted because what?! Turns out when he was about eight he was snooping through my computer and saw that music video and just assumed kyo only had one arm! Whenever he saw a picture of kyo with two arms he thought it was an old picture before he lost one and since he never saw any other pictures with only one arm he thought they stopped making music. And because it wasn't something he thought about often he never questioned it until he said it out loud. Now with his (relatively) grown up brain he realized that is ridiculous.
I'm pretty sure for the rest of my life whenever I see/hear anything about that video is going to make me laugh
oh. my god. that’s so fucking funny i LOVE kid brains like why do they work like that!!! it’s so fucking funny to hear stuff like that oh my god. it’s equal parts hilarious and precious thank you for sharing this w me anon omg

hang on i'm sorry interstitial infinity fruits basket subplot playing out in your head? you cannot drop a series of words that evocative and then just leave it at that i am begging you
lol hi anon. if the teens had gone past the black market car in ep12, the two people in the car beyond were going to be kyo and yuki, who have linked numbers and got on the train together. they're looking for a way off and also for tohru, who disappeared mysteriously before they were all supposed to meet up at [idk insert slice of life fruits basket event here]. tohru is with the apex cooking them meals and trying to take care of the other teens there and her number is skyrocketing because she's putting other people ahead of herself and doing net 0 introspection
that's the actual subplot the party could have stumbled into but i also tbh think that all the sohmas could use train time. could the train fix akito? idk but it'd be funny

one last armored core post for now— nobody ever talks about how coral is called ‘coral’. on the surface, you might not get why it’s clever, maybe they just thought the name was cool.
but coral- real life coral- are colonial organisms. there are solitary species of coral, but their reefs are more iconic. they love their own company, which is the exact wording Walter uses when describing rubicon’s coral.
not to mention coral has a symbiotic relationship with a species of algae- just like 621 and ayre.
it’s such a clever usage of coral and gosh darn it does that tickle my neurons

Kyojuro treating one of your wounds ❤️‍🩹
It happens in the comedown after a mission. Together you defeated the demon, but in the heat of battle it managed a swipe at your back. The injury isn't severe, but it is inconvenient, and needs to be treated if you don't want to risk infection. You ask for Kyojuro’s help at the inn you take your rest at, since you can't even see the wound, let alone treat it.
It requires you to take your shirt off for him to treat it. Kyojuro is flustered, but convinces himself that he must set his own feelings aside, for the good of his teammate! He tries to remain focused, and not allow his thoughts to wander to less... appropriate places, as he takes special care of your wound.
Afterwards, though, the memory distracts him. How comfortable you are with him, the trust you expressed by being willing to bare yourself and be vulnerable in front of him, it humbles him. And the way your skin felt beneath his hands... Kyojuro often has to shake himself out of the memory, cheeks flushed and eyes unfocused. The vision of your skin pops into his head frequently, only marred by the fact that you were injured at the time - he would save you from every injury, if he could. And now, he holds the secret desire to see your bare skin under better circumstances; to caress it, to caress you, to hold you in his arms... and do more.

The Glory: my thoughts so far
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Broke: I love you.
Woke: I will k1ll for you.
So I'm watching this show called "The Glory" it's about a girl named Moon Dong Eun who's plotting to get revenge on her high school classmates and teacher who bullied her, and by bullying I mean (extremely violent mental and physical abuse, which left her body disfigured, and her life ruined)
And I gotta say, THE REVENGE PLOT IN THIS SHOW IS REALLY SATISFYING SO FAR
There's already so much media that vilifies bully victims, so SEEING A BULLY VICTIM AS THE MAIN CHARACTER THAT WE ARE ROOTING FOR IS SO REFRESHING.
I haven't watched that many kdramas but this is also the reason why I appreciated Gangnam Beauty, bc just like The Glory, both the female leads are
not vilified by the narrative for their unconventional choices, (Kang Mi-rae for her plastic surgery and now Moon Dong Eun for her revenge). In The Glory, the the trauma Dong Eun had to endure while being abused by her classmates and teacher was portrayed in a very sympathetic light, and the story instead pins the blame on the people and the circumstances that led her to make those choices. Not to mention her bullies live good lives but continue to be terrible people with NO REMORSE for their actions even in adulthood, so while Dong Eun's revenge is still morally questionable, it is also VERY understandable.
Another thing I LOVE is how realistic Dong Eun's revenge plot is executed. The show and the Dong Eun herself is aware of the disadvantages she has (with the laws and all) and so she carefully executes her revenge in the way that she doesn't have to get her hands dirty. WHICH MAKES THE REVENGE TO THESE TERRIBLE PEOPLE ALL THE MORE SATISFYING! Remember that teacher who abused her? Yeah, She orchestrated his son to kill him, by simply confessing what the teacher did to her (bc she knows how much their family values reputation) HONESTLY QUEEN, LOVE THAT FOR HER! (also the irony that she also became a teacher like him except better, and is actually kind to her students)
And this show isn't exactly the usual "ReVENGe is BAd!! DOn't throw away your life for reVEnge!!" In fact, most of Dong Eun's allies actually support her because they understand just how evil her former highschool bullies are that they needed to be punished.
Which leads to the scene with Dong Eun and her love interest Ju Yeo-jeong. When she first confessed how she was planning revenge against her bullies, Yeo-jeong thought it was just some light bullying, until she undressed and showed the disfigured scars littered across her body. Yeo-jeong being a doctor, saw her scars and understood how much she suffered that he wept. He went from telling her not to pursue revenge to declared that he is willing to be her accomplish hence this scene.

MURDEROUS VENGEFUL COUPLE, Love that for them. They probably won't come out of this unscathed, but I really want them to WIN and get a happy ending, idk if that's too much to ask for. 😩😩😩😩

Pale Imitation
Hello everyone! Happy RenGiyuu Wednesday! This is way later in the day than I wanted to post this but uh let's roll with it and pretend I didn't forget about it. Enjoy, gays and theys
TW: Mentions of Death, Blood, Brief Mention of CPR.
Tumblr media
A gasp tore through the warm layer of haze that settled in the humid house. The window was open, inviting the summer air in, producing trails of cold sweat to clung to Giyuu's skin.
He sat up quickly, throwing the blanket off a side to feel the cold carpet under his feet. He held his head in his hands, keeping his eyes open to chase away the haunting images of his nightmare.
Kyojuro's hand was still warm when it touched his face. It was warm when it fell and when Giyuu begged to God as a nonbeliever. Never in his life did he pray so much. Not when he lost Sabito, not when he lost himself.
Kyojuro's sweat was still warm. Kyojuro's blood was still warm when he packed his wound with gauze. Kyojuro's skin was still warm when he beat blood back into his heart. Thump, thump, thump; artificial heartbeats are pale imitations of a working heart.
Giyuu put his feet back on his futon. The cold wasn't as comforting as it should have been. He felt a tear fall on his wrist, and that's when he noticed he was crying.
Of course it was Kyojuro. It had to be his love that had to fight an Upper Moon. He was alone. If only Giyuu was a little faster. If only he was there when it happened--
"Giyuu?" a hand touched his leg and Giyuu flinched away. He looked over. A warm hand remained where it had grazed Giyuu's thigh.
Giyuu looked away, unable to look into those eyes. Kyojuro took his arm and pulled until he could hold Giyuu's hand. "Are you alright, dear?"
Giyuu couldn't talk. He knew that if he even attempted to open his mouth, the only noise he could make would be croaks of pain. He nodded.
Kyojuro shifted to sit up next to him. "You had a nightmare, didn't you? The same one?" Giyuu nodded. Kyojuro held Giyuu's rough hand in both of his. He brought his knuckles to his chapped lips to kiss them. He pressed Giyuu's palm against his chest, right next to his wound but directly over his heart.
Giyuu could feel Kyojuro's pulse under his fingers. It was strong, the strongest it's been since the accident... the accident...
He needed to stop describing it as an accident. It wasn't an accident.
His body relaxed at the physical reminder of Kyojuro's good health. His mind wasn't as fortunate. Kyojuro noticed. He tucked a hair behind Giyuu's ear and held his chin, guiding the man to look at his lover.
"I'm here," Kyojuro reassured, bringing his sleeve up to wipe Giyuu's tears away. His sleeve was soaked after cleaning his cheeks.
Giyuu looked down. His tears could be heard beating against his blanket.
Kyojuro tilted his head back up and brought him into a loose hug, "I'm here now, and I'm alive. That's what matters, isn't it?"
Yeah, Giyuu guessed that's what should matter to him. Kyojuro survived. He survived and he was alive now to kiss Giyuu's temple. Giyuu dropped his head against Kyojuro's shoulder.
Kyojuro knew how difficult it was for Giyuu to process his death and his... undeath. He was dead for two minutes. He lost a quarter of his guts and his whole eye. Giyuu expected him to be dead. He did die, but he was alive. He lived.
Kyojuro laid them down, resting Giyuu's head against his chest. Giyuu looked up at him, worried about his injury. Kyojuro didn't react to his worry, simply petting his hair and silently convincing him to lay his head down.
When he complied, he instantly knew why. Thump. Thump Thump. It was so loud in his ear and Giyuu could feel how hot Kyojuro's chest was with life. Since when was he shirtless? Giyuu couldn't answer. He felt like he was melting against his lover's embrace.
Everything of him and within him melted. He sighed physically, shakily to represent how much the daily nightmares affect him. Each night, Kyojuro comforted him without frustration or complaint.
Giyuu thought he had prayed for God to save just his boyfriend. He was foolish to think that God would kill one of his angels so easily.
Kyojuro pulled the thin blanket over them again and held Giyuu as he stirred. He didn't realize how close he was to falling asleep again. When did it become this easy?
"I'm not going anywhere, just getting comfy. Are you comfortable, dear?" Giyuu didn't bother to give him an answer as he wrapped an arm around Kyojuro's waist.
Kyojuro chuckled. Damn. The sound was beautiful and rich. It made Giyuu's heart synchronize with Kyojuro's, pounding hard and strong against his chest. He loved his laugh. Giyuu mentioned that Kyojuro had slept through their one-month anniversary and pretended to be upset about it. Kyojuro had laughed so hard that one of his stitches tore. Giyuu didn't apologize enough by his standards.
Sleep came easy yet again. Giyuu knew that more nights against Kyojuro's bare chest were guaranteed, and Giyuu couldn't find a single reason to complain. Just as he was seconds away from falling asleep, or maybe it was the beginning of a nice dream, he heard the words Kyojuro had yet to confess to him:
"I love you."
So, with as much strength as Giyuu could gather:
"I love you too."
Giyuu must be living a dream.
