Movie Review: Leonor Will Never Die (Ang Pagbabalik ng Kwago) (2022)

A stunning piece of Filipino cinema

Director Martika Ramirez Escobar knows exactly what makes cinema special - the fun, the emotion, the childlike sense of wonder, watching alone or with friends. The titular Leonor blends reality and fiction after she falls into a coma, where she lives out an unfinished screenplay of hers from the 80s while her family rushes to figure out how to bring her back to the real world. This is a very enjoyable film, especially if you grew up with 80s action films, or even if you just want to dive into the lovely world of Filipino cinema.
