Okay but given that Wylan had a pretty decent education and knew limited fjerdan, have you guys considered he possibly knew more Shu than he let on? Like how Kuwei pretended he wasn’t as good at speaking Kerch. What if Wylan pretended he couldn’t speak much Shu so that he wouldn’t end up being Kuwei’s translator when Nina wasn’t there. Imagine Kuwei busting out near fluent Kerch and Wylan responding in pretty decent Shu.

may or may not be developing a whole ass plotline from the Wesper mer!jes AU EXCEPT Kuwei is there too and Wy and Kuwei are frenemies and (now hold your horses bc this is actually revolutionary) the more I think about this idea the more their background gets figured out the more I come to the conclusion that in this particular scenario, the endgame shit is not Wesper...

Something I don’t like is when they make him the antagonist in his and Wylan’s relationship to a cruel degree. (Also I’m not a fan of Kuwesper in the first place but it is very noticeable when the writer wants it to be kuwylan and throws Jesper in as an afterthought. Which is fine but it’s rare it’s written any other way and also the reason I’ll never care for the ship). Also when people refer to him only as the Zemeni instead of pronouns, his name, Wylan’s boyfriend, etc. or a majority of the time refer to him as that. Also hate it when they have Wylan call him an idiot or just write him as just being the funny guy instead of him using humor to cope

Of Hidden Truths And Drastic Actions: I'd like to get at least 2 more chapters out before April, covering the just girls scene and the kuwylan reveal. If we're lucky we'll also get the 'that's not all I want'

My other au's will be on the back-burner for now as I'm in my final year so I've got mocks in Feb, oral exams in April and the *big* finals in June, so who knows what will happen.

Is anyone else constantly thinking about how Wylan gets really jealous and snippy at Kuwei whenever he flirts with Jesper but then doesn’t seem to care about anyone else? Even before Jesper kissed him by mistake, Wylan still didn’t really like Kuwei. But Jesper’s obvious crush on Kaz doesn’t seem to phase him, Jesper’s casual flirting with Nina and Inej never make him angry or upset. It’s only Kuwei? Why? What does this mean? Jesper has never shown any interest in Kuwei at all, he’s never really flirted back. So Wylan should in theory be less intimidated by Kuwei than the others based on Jesper’s reactions.

At first I interpreted it as Wylan being grumpy he’s been replaced as the youngest. He was the innocent little bean that they all felt like they had to look after and then Kuwei became the focus of their protection. He unconsciously thinks it will be a repeat of Alys’ pregnancy being the reason his father tried to get rid of him and he doesn’t want the crows to not need him. But he didn’t really get why he has this seemingly irrational dislike, so he assumes it to be jealousy about Jesper.

But now I also think it’s partly to do with how the two have a lot in common, being the smart, innocent chemists of the group. But their two major differences are Kuwei can read and as far as we know his father loved him, and trusted him with helping make jurda parem. Those are the two biggest insecurities in Wylan’s life, his dyslexia and his father not wanting to let him take over the family business because of it.

Yes he might be jealous of Jesper flirting with people but he’s never vocal about it unless it’s towards Kuwei. And I don’t think it’s as simple as him disliking Kuwei flirting with Jesper. I think it’s a lot deeper than that. And if Wylan could understand that the dislike and resentment of Kuwei is more based on their relationship to their fathers than it is to their relationship to Jesper, I think they could have an amazing friendship. They could be an unstoppable genius duo.
