Can we just appreciate that Matt and Gavin have the most interesting talks without it being an argument? The latest GTA (on First) just reminded me that Gavin and Matt discuss about a lot hypothetical things without undermining anyone's intelligence, even if it is a 'Million Dollars But...' scenario. I love it.

same!!! that conversation between the two of them was so interesting and genuinely engaging to listen to. it's a nice contrast to ryan's pissy attitude when he belittles others in the arguments he starts.

like, even towards the end, matt was like "huh, you know what? maybe you are right, gavin :)" and the convo naturally came to a conclusion, versus ryan, who'd probably be like "that's the dumbest thing i've ever heard from an idiot like you. let me take 10 minutes to thoroughly explain to you why you're wrong. dumbass."

Have you seen the latest Off Topic yet? I'm gutted. It's an eye opener.

I listened to it while driving. Cried a lot. It’s so emotional and intense and difficult, so much more so for the people on the podcast especially Fiona and Geoff. I absolutely think it is worth listening to or watching. Even if you never do with Off Topic, I really really think any AH fans, in fact any RT fans, and even just anyone a part of or interested in the communities and businesses of gaming and online entertainment: listen to or watch Off Topic Ep 236, titled ‘An Honest Discussion���.

A lot of RT/AH fans will probably have been following what’s been going on with the company on Twitter the past week. Mica Burton, a black woman and ex-employee, spoke out about the lack of support from RT/AH in the wake of blatant hate and racism from fans amongst the community, and how she felt unsupported and alone, and eventually left the company because of it. Fiona Nova, a current employee of RT/AH and a black gay woman, agreed with her. Many high profile RT employees reacted with apologies, guilt, and in some cases shock.

This has lead to RT/AH taking a really hard look at themselves, and this is what’s discussed in the latest Off Topic. Fiona lets out what she’s been dealing with since joining the company, how difficult it’s been and how alone she’s felt and how tough she’s had to make herself. She doesn’t hold back, she doesn’t censor herself, she doesn’t try to shield the others from what she’s been going through or their part in it. Geoff, Jeremy, Jack and Gavin join her in this podcast, and listen to her struggles. They apologise, for many things, and make a strong point of having become better people because of Mica and Fiona, and recognising how far they still have to go. Geoff in particular has a lot to say about where his blindness comes from and how much he regrets not recognising these things in himself (and opens up quite a bit about his own struggles).

It’s so raw and emotional and there’s a lot of crying. But I absolutely think it’s so valuable to listen to or watch.

Rooster Teeth as a company fucked up. In multiple ways. Especially in regards to their highest profile and most senior members. There’s no way around that. They fucked up. And lots of people are angry, not just Mica and Fiona, other, less visible employees, many people in the community as well. But personally, I really truly believe this has been a proper eye-opener for them too, and I genuinely believe they’re committed to doing better.

Ethan could still remember the first time he ever saw him.

It was a Tuesday in the middle of June, the sun was already high in the sky and there was a cool breeze that flowed through the door every time it opened. Which was why he noticed when someone entered.

On that particular day, it was a quiet start and therefore, Ethan merely stood behind the counter cleaning the top as he heard the bell ringing to indicate the door opening. Looking up, he smiled ready to greet his customer when he spotted the young man. Dark blonde hair slightly scruffy, thick black rimmed glasses sitting across the bridge of his nose, a laptop bag thrown over one shoulder and a brightly coloured plaid shirt that was unbuttoned at the top. Almost immediately, there was something about him that just made him melt a little. He wondered if maybe it was just an instant infatuation caused by being without Julia - it was coming up to five years now, so that was entirely possible - but he brushed it aside and placed the cloth over his shoulder.

“Good morning.” he said with a smile, leaning on the counter as the man approached. “What can I get for ya?”

“How much sugar can you put in a coffee before it crosses a professional line?” Oh god, he was English too.

“Well, how much do you want?” Ethan asked with a raised eyebrow.

“Uh… We’ll go with four. I mean, I see you’ve got the little sachets on the tables so worst cast scenario I can OD on those.” As the man spoke, Ethan couldn’t help laughing and he nodded.

“Four sugars. Got it.” he replied. “Next question: which coffee?”

“Cappuccino please. With an extra shot of caffeine if you can spare it.”

“I’m sure I can manage that. But only for you.” Ethan accentuated his words with a wink before he moved to make the coffee. “Take a seat and I’ll bring it over to your table.”

“Oh, brilliant. Thanks.” The blond man grinned brightly and moved across the room, choosing the little booth in the corner. Once there, Ethan noticed that he pulled out his laptop and opened it up, ready to do some work. As he prepared the coffee with one hand, he tugged one of the business cards which had their wifi information on from the stand. He was going to need it. As he continued his preparations, he glanced over at the man, watching the way he pushed his glasses up his nose, crinkling his nose a little as he did. There was something so fascinating about this man and he could not help his mind wandering. There was something in the back of his mind worrying that this was too soon, that he shouldn’t think like that yet, but at the same time, he could almost hear Julia’s voice in his head telling him to not be an idiot and grasp a good thing when it literally fell right in front of him.

Placing the cup on a saucer, he lifted it in one hand with the card in the other and approached the table.

“Here you go.” he said, placing down the two items. “Be sure to let me know if you need anything else, alright?”

“Anything else?” the blond replied, looking up at him with a bright smile.

“Anything you want.”

There was a brief pause as they stared at each other, green eyes staring into blue before he spoke up once more.

“How about your name?” Ethan noticed the way the stranger’s cheeks reddened slightly when he asked the question, almost as if he was embarrassed, fearing crossing a line.

“Name’s Ethan.” he replied, confidently. “And yours? Only fair, right?”

The tension seemed to drop from the man’s shoulders and he was smiling again. “Benji.”

For months he watched, observing the way Benji would sit at the same table each time, with his laptop (every few weeks, there would be a new pop-culture sticker on the case, leaving Ethan to smile) and his glasses and his cappuccino with extra extra sugar. He was smitten, there was no denying it. And given that even Luther had seen it from his spot back in the kitchen, Ethan knew he was in trouble.

“Ethan, I swear to god, if you don’t make a move someday soon then I’m gonna kick your ass and then make your move for you.” Luther commented as Ethan walked into the kitchen one day, almost bumping into the wall as he moved with his head turned to see the way Benji was chatting with his friend.

“Shut up, man, I can’t make a move. He’s a customer.” Ethan whipped Luther’s arm with the cloth in his hand before laughing, running his hand through his hair. “Besides, he’s with that guy again. Probably his boyfriend. If he even goes that way... Oh god, what if he’s straight. I can’t handle this, falling for another straight guy.”

Luther couldn’t help but chuckle, shaking his head as he plated up the toasted sandwich that Benji had ordered. “Look, Ethan. You can’t keep hiding back here blushing like a lovestruck teenager every time he comes in. What would Julia have to say if she knew what you were doing?”

“She’d probably push to the front of the line to kick my ass before you did.” Ethan admitted, smiling at the memory of his wife. He did miss her dearly, but he also knew that she wouldn’t want him to be alone and miserable for the rest of his life.

“Go take this out, flash him your killer smile, and just see what happens. Ok?” Luther held out the two plates of food for his friend to take, raising an eyebrow as he waited.

“Alright. You’re an asshole, Luther, you know that.”

“I know. I also know you love that about me. Now get outta here.”

At the table, Benji was frantically babbling about his latest customer who kept insisting on fixing his computer himself, only to predictably bring the device into him a few days later when he realised he made it worse.

“He never listens!” Benji’s arms flailed about before his shoulders sagged, gaze narrowing when Will began to laugh. “What?”

“Oh, nothing. Just listening to you, king of not listening, complaining about this.” Will commented, sipping his coffee.

“Whaddaya mean? I listen.”

“Not to me.”

“I do too!” Benji sounded almost offended at the accusation.

“Do not.” Will childishly responded with a grin, amused by Benji’s het up attitude.

“Ok, tell me what I don’t listen to you about. I wanna know.”

“Well, for starters, you never listen to me when I keep telling you to go and ask that cute barista out.” Will motioned over his shoulder to where Ethan was moving into the kitchen, Benji’s eyes widening when he spotted the way the man nearly collided with the wall before disappearing into the kitchen.

“That... I can’t do that. He’s gorgeous. There’s no way he’s single. And if he is, knowing my luck, he’ll be straight as they come.”

“You don’t know that.” Will’s smile softened a little, wanting to see his friend happy. “Come on... Just... Ask him if he wants to go for a beer sometime. Doesn’t have to be a date, just to get to know each other.”

Benji stared longingly at the closed kitchen door, sighing as he shook his head. “I dunno, Will... I don’t know if I’m ready to face another rejection.”

“Buddy, he won’t reject you. Who would be stupid enough to do that? Hell, you already know I’d be in there if you weren’t my best friend.” The comment resulted in a small scoff from Benji, as Will opened his mouth to move on. Before he could speak, however, Ethan appeared from the kitchen with their lunch and Benji quickly sat upright and smiled at him.

“Alright, got the BLT.” Ethan placed the meal in front of Will, then turned to Benji. “And one ham and cheese toasted sandwich.”

“Thanks, Ethan.” Benji smiled up at him, meeting his gaze for what he was sure would be far too long. But he couldn’t help it, especially when the other man smiled like that at him. Will glanced awkwardly between them for a few moments, before the sound of him loudly biting into his sandwich snapped both men from their trance.

“I, uh- well, enjoy the food, guys.” Ethan nodded and then quickly rushed himself back to behind the counter. Benji watched him go, only to find Will staring at him when he turned back.

“What?”

“Go. Now. Before I throw up.”

Biting on his lower lip, Benji glanced back to where Ethan seemed to be hiding behind the coffee machine, and he finally gathered his courage and stood. “Right... Be bold, Dunn. Be bold.” Slowly, he walked up to the counter and cleared his throat to get Ethan’s attention.

“Oh, did I forget something? Shit, what was it? I’ll have Luther make i-”

“No, no... Nothing was missing. The food’s spot on. As always.” Benji chuckled, smiling as he pushed his glasses up his nose nervously.

“Oh, good. Then what can I do for you?” Ethan stepped over to lean on the counter and smiled, waiting for Benji’s answer.

“Well, I.... was wondering...” Smooth one, Benji. Just ask him for fucks sake. “I wanted to know if you’d like to go grab a beer with me sometime? I mean, you totally don’t have to, and I won’t be offended if you don’t want to, but I thought I’d-”

“I’d love to.”

“-you- really?” Benji’s voice was a little higher pitched as he asked, eyes widening as he stared at Ethan.

“Yeah. Yeah, I’d like to grab a beer with you sometime.”

Benji’s cheeks turned a little pink and his smile grew as he ran his hand over his hair. “I- well... ok, that’s.... good. Good, yeah.” He paused, finding himself staring at the way Ethan smiled over at him, catching himself quickly. “Good. I’ll... better go get that eaten... I think your buddy might be mad if I let his cooking go to waste.”

“Yeah. Yeah, he wouldn’t be best pleased.” Ethan replied, chuckling nervously as he watched Benji backing up.

“’Kay... I’ll uh... Yeah.” Turning around, Benji moved back to the table, leaving Ethan in awe at what had just happened.

When he cleared the table once Benji and his friend had left, Ethan found a napkin with a phone number and a little smiley face written on, leaving his heart racing.

Luther was right. He was acting like a lovestruck teenager.

Because it’s that time of year where I descend into Buffy/Bangel(us) hell I now really want a Gramander or Goldgramander Buffy!verse. 

Like I dunno, Newt’s called as the first ever male Slayer (and everyone’s like WTF this idiot’s going to get himself killed did you see the way he was with that minor demon he’s calling it Pickett and lets it ride on his shoulder). And Theseus, who’s a Watcher, petitions to be Newt’s Watcher but gets turned down because the Council are assholes who don’t want any attachment between Watcher and Slayer because they only see the Slayer as a tool to be used for the greater good (I fucking hate those guys; this is literally canon in Buffy) and to ensure that they decide to assign one Percival Graves as his Watcher because “it’s Graves, there’s no way he’ll get attached - does the man even have feelings?”. And Tina’s a Watcher in training who’s mentor is Graves so where he goes, she goes. Also, pretend there’s a Watcher’s Council branch in America...I can’t remember if there is in the show. 

Newt’s not for the whole “slay first, ask questions later” thing ESPECIALLY where minor demons are concerned - they’re not causing harm, why the fuck would I kill them? What is wrong with you people? And so he still has his suitcase (that was expanded by a witch Theseus knew because he knew his younger brother would bring home minor, less-harmful demons...at least, he hoped) but while there’s still magical creatures, they’re seen more as “lesser demons” (Bowtruckles, Occamies, Nifflers, etc).

Anyway, Graves arrives and his eye is probably going to be permanently twitching because holy shit this goes against everything he was taught as a Watcher why is this my life, what did I ever do to you people to get stuck with an idiot.

 So Graves tries (and fails) to change Newt’s view on things and damn it, why does he not mind the fact Newt’s glowing with happiness at having rescued a nest of baby Occamies from being eaten by another demon and is cooing softly at them. Why is he becoming fond of the other man? He’s not supposed to get attached - especially since he’s sure Newt’s going to be the shortest Slayer ever in the history of all Slayers. 

But damn it, he realizes to his horror he’s falling in love with Newt and finds himself going along with him on patrols instead of just staying put and waiting for updates. Like he was taught. Because the thought of Newt getting killed without him there to possibly stop it is unbearable.

And when the Watcher’s Council finds out all hell breaks loose.

So Graves, Newt, and Tina are on the run from the Watcher’s Council (because like hell Graves is going to let them assign some asshole to be Newt’s new Watcher who will probably take extreme measures to “correct” his way of thinking) and end up hiding with Tina’s sister, Queenie, who’s a witch. 

Somewhere along the way Gramander happens, and possibly Goldgramander as well.

Maybe Credence is a half-demon the trio adopts (which puts them under suspicion of the Council)? Which then leads to the Council finding out about Newt and Graves (and Tina, possibly) relationship. Cue the group hiding with Queenie and her powerful coven, idk. 

This is fun - I’ll have to expand this later.

I don’t know if you guys know anything about Buffy but I know you guys like Gramander (which this practically is despite me trying to turn it into Goldgramander). Though I recommend you ignore this - it’s complete shit and just a bunch of rambling.

That prompt with the alien dog and ColdAtom made me think that Len is going to call Kara one day and have words with Supergirl about letting Ray keep alien pets. But before he can, there's probably a protective Mick who won't let him scold Kara and tells him to be civil. MICK. TELLS. LEN. TO. BE. CIVIL. I dunno. I always see Mick being overprotective of Kara like he adopted her as a lil sister.

Oh wow this is glorious :D now I’m imagining Mick’s apartment TEEMING with weird alien puppies because Mick can’t say no to Kara when she shows up with yet another stray. And since she comes to check in on them regularly, Mick’s not complaining.

It’s another Fic Back Friday!!!!! And the first to be recommended is Oliver Knows by kuroinekokun, a great story where Oliver sees how the Legends treat Mick even after he saves Felicity and Kara on seperate occasions, and when he and Barry are on the Waverider find out just how far the mistreatment goes. An excellent and very cathartic story.

The second is Tornado Warning by nirejeski, a brilliant written Flash AU where Henry is the one killed, not Nora, who proceeds to fight against her arrest with everything she has - and succeeds. Nora is pretty badass in this story and knows that the Man in Yellow is after him and that he’ll try again, so recruits Len and Mick to act as bodyguards. They agree and the result is an excellent found family piece. Just as a warning, it’s very much not Joe friendly, but it’s one of my favourite fics in the entire fandom.

And the third is Teapot by @california-112 , set during the first episode of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) - the original - as Jeff goes into a downward spiral because of Marty’s death, and Jeannie tries to help him despite her own grief because he’s her friend. Brilliantly written and utterly heartbreaking, but it works out in the end.

Newt holds his resolve and refuses to tell Grindelwald where the case is, despite the torture. His unfortumate cellmate happens to be one Percival Graves. They slowly fall in love. Meanwhile Theseus retrieves the case, finds Credence in it, falls in love with the young man as well, and tries desperately to find Newt before it’s too late. 

what i think : ITS SO GOOD !!!!!!!! Written well, action flows smoothly, dialogues are great, GRINDELWALD IS ONE EVIL BASTARD (like, in my top five of worst Grindelwalds in fics and i mean that as a compliment, he’s awful), I now ship Theseus and Credence and I’ll never forgive the author for doing what she did to Graves at one point that had me screaming in the comments you don’t do this to my man you fool

I’m sorry I haven’t replied to any others, or to any messages asking what happened until the last one, or any messages commenting on what happened. Until the last 5 or so hours I really didn’t feel like I had the emotional capacity to say anything other than my own erratic thoughts.

I am doing much better now though. It’s still very upsetting and just about everything reminds me of what happened and after my meltdown this morning (due to sleep deprivation and too much prolonged exposure to nightmares, but no doubt not helped by the situation) I am pretty emotionally fragile. But I am slowly improving and I’m hoping it won’t be too long before this stops feeling like such a major deal to me, or at least like I’ve had enough time to move on.

I’m so sorry for everyone, like you, who is also hurting and who has been dealing with the same shock and grief and confusing mix of emotions. Don’t let yourself feel embarrassed or be shamed for it. Parasocial relationships are extremely common and even expected with internet personalities, and Rooster Teeth in particular encourages their fans to feel like part of the community. It makes sense, to be so truly upset about what happened. It’s normal, and it’s okay. Just remember the people of Rooster Teeth, especially Funhaus and AH, are feeling this on a much stronger level to us, and to give them support, respect, and privacy. But do not stop yourself from also grieving. It’s necessary for you to heal from this as well.

So I’ve been watching The Mystic Nine, and @kuroinekokun whom I may or may not have dragged down into this deep hell with me and I got talking about Ba Ye and Lieutenant Zhang. And how they look pretty cute together. Now, have a series of headcanons. Because I can.

Sorry about it being long and all.

1. Zhang kisses Ba Ye to shut him up during sex because he tends to go on and on and on about EVERYTHING but WHAT THEY ARE DOING. Thus, Zhang uses the tried and true tactic of kissing him breathless until he forgets whatever millionth thought thread he was on and is reduced to a putty of happiness in Zhang’s hand.

2. Fo Ye walks in on them doing it once. And promptly shuts the door behind him. He spends the next two weeks trying to mind bleach himself of that image. Er Ye just laughs when he complains about it and says, “They’re not really subtle if you think about it. You’re so sharp and yet so blind.”

3. Zhang is secretly insecure about Ba Ye not thinking that he is as badass as Fo Ye because of that one time Fo Ye rescued Ba Ye from his kidnappers. Ba Ye finds out about this and proceeds to nag him, “Fo Ye is Fo Ye, and you are you. What is there to compare? It’s like saying that the Moon is not beautiful just because most people are fast asleep to appreciate it.” And then Zhang proceeds to show him just how happy those words make him.

4. Ba Ye sticks to Zhang’s side when he is hurt. Even if it is just a minor graze, Ba Ye will fuss and nag and generally make a nuisance of himself until Er Ye settles him with a quiet pat and/or Fo Ye grips him by the wrist and sits him down on the chair. They have all long since learnt that letting Ba Ye stay by Zhang’s side is the least destructive of all the options.

5. Ba Ye likes to starfish his limbs in his sleep. The first time he stays the night, it didn't bother Zhang all that much, what with him being a military man and all that. But he soon learns that Ba Ye likes being held in his sleep. A Lot. So, they took up Ba Ye being pinned to the bed underneath the weight of Zhang’s body. It makes him feel safe and Zhang feeling safer like this because even in sleep, he feels like he is able to protect.

6. Zhang would, without saying or being told, keep food around him. Be it sweets or treats, he would stow it away on his persons or around him to feed and spoil Ba Ye. Fo Ye and Er Ye notices this; Fo Ye rolls his eyes, but makes sure to give out little tidbits that Ba Ye might enjoy, while Er Ye merely slides over flatcakes or whatnot.

7. Ba Ye is the type of cook that burns water. But, wanting to impress Zhang for their anniversary, he seeks out Ya Tou and asks if she could help teach him. That is how Ba Ye ends up cooking noodles for Zhang, rapping the back of Fo Ye’s knuckles when he tries to steal a bite. Er Ye, noticing that this is the fruit of his wife’s lessons, merely smirks when Zhang extols just how good it is, refusing to share it with anyone.

in canon, the love kendra and carter have for each other is a universal constant. it must exist. it’s so powerful that the star sapphires, in a pinch, have used it to power their entire corps. and like, bad things happen to the hawks. they always do. like one or both of them dies, and it’s like fine, fine, fineeee- AND THEN THE UNIVERSE GOES INTO FULL TILT BC HOLY SHIT THE HAWK LOVE MUST EXIST AND IT MUST EXIST BETWEEN THESE TWO PEOPLE like they can’t not exist. they can’t ever truly die or stay dead, because they’re literally a part of the fabric of space and time. which kind of blows chunks, actually.
