I love Jane Austen’s Emma and discovered cwmilton while looking for book/2009 miniseries Emma fanfiction. ‘A Very Good List’ was the first of theirs I discovered and it’s a delight! Recommend!

A recent QOTD got me thinking a lot about all the recs I have. and I realized I haven't done a Fic Back Friday in two (2) years (!) so I think it's time to rectify that.

She didn't think much of it then – hasn't thought once about it in the eighteen years since - but now it strikes her as strange. He and Robb had been best friends since they were in diapers, but once they moved, she never heard Robb talk about him again. She could call Robb and ask why, but she doesn't. Whatever the reason, it was nearly two decades ago and it doesn't matter. It has nothing to do with the case, or the murdered girls.

The *Twin Peaks*/ *X-Files* vibes are off the charts. And I am obsessed.

I have actually had it in my head to rec a few Chrisker fics from WAY back that I had read this year and this is a perfect opportunity.

Please note all these are adult/explicit fics.

F*cks like a S.T.A.R. (5986 words) by Merci : This fic was written in 2007 when Y!gallery was still around and its one of my favorites. It's a pretty simple bondage/captivity scenario with Wesker forcing Chris to do exactly what he wants.

Blowing Off Steam (2016 words) by ficbear: From 2010! Just some rough locker room screwing with hatesex/throwing one another around. STARS era.

Mercenaries (2774 words) by entanglednow: Another 2010 fic. This one takes place roughly during Code Veronica era so it's got that great push/pull of Wesker and Chris being recurring enemies but still attracted to one another.

Mind the tags on all of these and the fact that they're very old but they're some of my favorite in terms of quick fun.

Good morning! I hope that you have a wonderful Friday. As I mentioned in my taglist post, the Creators’ Club is to foster a community between like-minded individuals.

Every day, there will be a theme: such as Blorbo Blursday where it is encouraged you go into each other’s ask boxes or even a post on your blog asking about each others’ weekly project or muse.

This project is not to promote your work – even though that will happen organically – but to support the other Tumblr members. It’s to foster a community. You don’t need to participate every day, as I know how it’s important to focus on your health, but please try to interact with each other.

Also, please remember to be kind to everyone and their characters / WIPs. No drama in the creative pool.

For today's fic back Friday, I wanted to recommend the fic To Live In The World by IvorySteel92.

The aim of fic back Friday is to "make a post recommending a fic you love from at least a year ago. Dust off the archives, dig through your AO3 history and share those old fics with newer fans who might not have seen them - and the fans who’ve been around forever and might want to revisit an old fave."

To Live In the World is new to me as I read it for the very first time earlier this year but it certainly qualifies as a fic back Friday fic as it was begun in 2021 and completed in 2022.

TLITW is a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fic set in an alternate version of season six where Giles, unaware of Willow's plans to bring Buffy back, visits Faith in prison and convinces her to return with him to Sunnydale.

I’m going to confess here to finding Faith kind of frustrating. She feels like a very hyped fandom character and truthfully, it’s rare that the character lives up to the hype. There’s also my bitterness in how we had Kendra for a very short time and it feels like both show and a large number of fans are happy to forget all about her and focus on Faith instead. I say all this to explain my headspace and to clarify that the summary for TLITW was that intriguing that despite my misgivings I clicked it.

And it very much did not disappoint. Unsurprisingly, being in Faith’s head made her much more compelling, interesting, and relatable. I really liked how the Slayer dreams were used as this connection between Buffy and Faith. 

There are some delicious twists in TLITW I don’t want to spoil.

Everyone feels in character and it’s very cool to see an alternate version of season six which stays true to the themes of the show and even the themes of season six while still offering an alternate vision.

King Thorin Durinson has only held the throne for a few months after the death of his greedy predecessor. When Shire Inquiry journalist Bilbo Baggins is brought in to observe a meeting of powers, it's quickly made apparent that Thorin's sheltered and strict lifestyle has him completely disconnected from those he rules, as well as his family. It's up to Bilbo to show Thorin that the world is worth exploring and that not everything is as it seems. (modern royalty au, gen, 40k)

This was a part of 2022's Tolkien Reverse Summer Bang, where I had the amazing opportunity to work with @sleepysandwichguy! I've been thinking about this one a lot lately, and I have two sequels planned for it. So naturally, I had to share this one first!

I have like a month that I don't do this (oops! 😅), but I remembered today! So, here's an old fic of mine (well not that old, but anyway, I'm doing self-promotion here). Yet another story where Alexsandr Kallus get whumped. Why is he so whumpable? I don't know, but I have a blast writing making him suffer. Of course, that's it with the corresponding comfort at the end, especially if it's Zeb who gives it 😉

Summary: After a solo mission to the planet Dela goes south, Kallus finds himself in a tight spot. The Spectres go to his rescue but the actual saving turns out more complicated than expected.

AN EXPLOSIVE SITUATION

An explosion at a distance distracts Kallus from the cramping muscles on his shoulders and back. As the concussive wave rattles the complex, he forgets for a moment the deep ache on his legs and arms aggravated by the stress position he’s forced to be in. He’s sitting on the floor with his legs crossed and his wrists and elbows cuffed behind his back. A thick collar around his neck is connected by a short bar to the cuffs around his ankles and forces him to hunch forward. The bent position makes it difficult to breathe deeply. Kallus concentrates on taking measured breaths.

An alarm for intruders goes off somewhere in the base, and Kallus groans. He’s not afraid of the torture promised by the Imperial captain who visited him earlier, neither he’s of dying. To have lost the opportunity to say “I love you” to Garazeb one more time before dying doesn’t desolate him as much. He’s petrified of what the commotion means. There’s no way for him to be certain, and yet, his instinct tells him that the Spectres are committing the great stupidity of rescuing him. He just knows is them. Nobody else would risk their lives to save him.

He ordered D4 to leave him behind and get away in the Glimmer with the information gathered in their clusterkriff’d mission. Kallus told him not to come back for him. Thanks to his programming, D4 is beyond sentimentalism and affection, which often get in the middle of what needs to be done. Kallus’ life is worth the sacrifice as long as the Rebellion gets what it needs to defeat the Empire. 

The sound of a blaster fight grows louder and louder. As best as he can, Kallus looks at the ray shield trapping him in the cell and the shadows beyond it, revealing the fight going on at the end of the hallway. He listens to a familiar growl followed by the distinct sound of a stormtrooper hitting a wall. He can see in his mind’s eye the powerful image that it’s Garazeb throwing troopers with ease.

His heart flutters with unbound love for his mate, coming for him, but at the same time, dread makes his stomach roll nauseatingly. Zeb is walking into a trap. He won’t be able to free Kallus and will die trying. The thought is far worse torture than any of that his captors have planned for him. Kallus can’t bear the idea of being once again the Empire’s tool to hurt Garazeb.

Fic sharing Friday

I was tagged by @pikapeppa and @kittynomsdeplume for this one. I've been in a pretty bad headspace lately and have been having to just zone out on my days off to keep from crying because work has been a stressful hell and I'm emotionally and creatively drained, but I was able to finally complete a Harry Carlyle/Sis! Ryder (Rydyle) smutty one-shot that I started a year ago, so that's a high note--which is what I'm sharing today :). I had covid this last week as well (3rd bout since 2021...woo...) so my brain has been mush.

He threw his head back and laughed, the first genuine laugh he'd had in a long time--this woman was definitely something special. He closed whatever he'd been working on and turned the screen of his datapad dark as he angled himself to give her his full attention, unable to focus on anything but her and the indecent thoughts crowding his mind. She smiled and dragged a stool closer and hopped onto it, perching herself on the edge of the seat and crossing one leg over the other, her dress riding higher as her foot brushed against his calf. Harry inhaled sharply as she leaned a little closer and placed her hand on his knee, giving him the perfect view down the front of her dress; she knew exactly what she was doing, and he was enraptured by her every move, watching her through half lidded eyes, lust clouding his vision.

"If it wasn't considered public indecency, I'd have you right over this bar top, but instead I'd like to take you home and bend you over the kitchen counter, since I don't think I'll be able to wait until we get to the bedroom…"

"I live a block away; pretty sure it's closer than your place." Marlo teased as she smirked at him, running a teasing hand up his thigh and over the bulge of his erection, feeling him grow harder with how much he wanted her. "Looks like someone's eager for a healthy dose of vitamin me."

Impossible Odds by FictionPenned || @fictionpenned Pairing: Thoschei Rating: Mature Status: Complete Summary: Koschei's name was drawn the year before hers, and he slaughtered almost half the tribute field personally, claiming the first victory for their District and becoming an overnight sensation. Media darling Caesar Flickerman had dubbed him The Master, a title that stuck, and he plays his part well, but as soon as the cameras are off, darkness always comes floating back towards the surface. He mentored Theta while his own pain was still fresh, and dismissed her as a lost cause as soon as the second name was drawn. The other tribute for District 3 that year was Koschei's friend, classmate, and neighbor, and Koschei all but told her that he would throw her to the wolves and focus the entirety of his attention on supporting her male counterpart. That favoritism did not matter in the end. His friend died first, and Theta won the shortest games on record. Thirty-six hours, one meticulously engineered mass slaughter, and it was over. Fifteen years have passed since then, and he still has not forgiven her. 

This Hunger Games AU lives in my brain RENT FREE. It is that good. If you like fake relationships in dystopian settings with characters that feel real, then this is the fic for you.

I worked in the library in college, so I have a certain soft spot for fics where Adam works in the campus library. I also have a soft spot for fics where Ronan finds Chainsaw and learns how to take care of a baby raven.

Smash those two things together, give it a punny title, and you get this week's rec, Check You Out by themidnightbagel. Ronan comes into the campus library looking for information on what to do with an injured Chainsaw, and Adam gets a lot more than he intended when he agrees to help this hot guy figure out how to raise a raven. It's a meet-cute tossed together with some smut, and it's an all-around fun time for everyone.

Hello everyone and welcome to another Fic Back Friday. This one is interesting in the sense that this might be the longest a fic has ever sat in my head in idea form before it finally made it to the metaphorical page. I wrote about the idea in December 2016 and I didn't get around to writing the story until March 2020. As always, I turn up late to fandoms, with some rare exceptions. I really liked how That Which Is Lost By Not Trying turned out once I wrote it, and I managed to connect all of my Star Wars fics together, but that will be for another Fic Back Friday.

That Which Is Lost By Not Trying - Complete - Part One of the Persevere and Get It Done Series - Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - Cassian Andor/Jyn Erso, Chirrut Îmwe/Baze Malbus

Jyn is forced to relive the Battle on Scarif over and over again until she gets it right. And maybe she falls in love with Cassian on the way.

It's Fic Back Friday and I'm still in my Supernatural mood so today I'm recommending another Midam fic - Archangel On The Rise by AugustStories, a fucking brilliant piece of writing in which it turns out taking away the only friend an Archangel has had for over a thousand years does not end well for the person who did it (AKA the glorious wrath of Michael for over 7k words and I am living for it)

I'm also recommending Children of Purgatory by Hekate1308, a series which focuses on Dean's daughter Emma, and started out as a character study of her while she was in Purgatory, and how she meets, saves, and befriends Madison and they both end up helping out the friendly monsters whilst they're there, and I don't want to spoil too much but it's really well written and Emma and Madison's friendship is everything, as is her relationship with her father when they meet up again. There's a lot of emotional hurt/comfort in this series, but the heartwarming moments make it all worth it.
