Found that Kotlyarevsky was a contemporary of Gogol through Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka, and he has been quoted much, specifically from ‘The Aeneid.’

While I wrote my review of Kotlyarevsky's "Eneida" in the side blog, here I will show my fan dragons based on "Eneida"!
This is Aeneas and Eavrial as Zaporozhian Cossacks. And I was really happy that FR have Finely Crafted Lute, which is very similar to Ukrainian kobza.

Hello. Should you find some spare time or wish to indulge me, might I request some classic literature recommendations that you personally found to be enjoyable, regardless of popularity or subject matter? You have exquisite taste in literature I find, and if I may speak a little highly of myself, it is quite similar to my own. I would like to see which are your favourites, however many you might choose, as I am very intrigued.
Hello, of course. I am happy to talk of classic literature with other people. There is much I have not read that I would recommend by the looks of it, but I shall read them first. Ukrainian literature is highly recommended; anything by Gogol, specifically Evenings On a Farm Near Dikanka. Quite folksy, as I like anything related to Ukrainian folklore/culture. And his more popular stories/short stories. His satire is unmatched. Kotlyarevsky's 'The Aeneid,' is very nice as well, I found from Gogol. Russian literature: Tolstoy's Resurrection, Goncharov's Oblomov, Dostoyevsky's The Brothers Karamazov, The Idiot, The Double and Gambler. The last three are quite subjective, depending on the reader's tastes, but it impacted me greatly. It is more scribbled and cluttered than the his others, but I enjoyed that aspect. His humour is very crass, present in 'Bobok,' but his sentimentalism is carried in 'White Nights' and 'Poor Folk.' 'The Dream of A Ridiculous Man' is splendid as well.
For German literature, I have only read Goethe and Nietzsche so far. 'Ecce Homo' is hilarious in an egoistic with a philosophical motive sense, as it is Nietzsche. Polish literature is heavily laden with romanticism. Japanese literature is very refined and particular in its descriptions of despair/destitution and almost perversion to strange matters. Ryūnosuke Akutagawa is a very skilled writer, portraying the most eerie and almost inhuman emotions in his characters (In a Bamboo Grove.) His admiration of Gogol had left an impression on me very much, on how he was to either go mad (like Gogol) or die by suicide. Dazai Osamu, highly influenced by him, had traces of Akutagawa's hand in his own writings. Junichiro Tanizaki is a writer of perversion, and a great one at that (Diary of a Mad Old Man/The Makioka Sisters.) Yosano Akiko's poems are very feminine, but with a sort of weighted burden to them. The Tale of Genji, of which I am currently enjoying, is very long but easy to read once accustomed. I love stories on the nature of war or Man in the circumstance of war so, Crane's 'The Red Badge of Courage.' French authors are very refined as well: Guy de Maupassant, Stendhal, Balzac, Verlaine, Proust, Baudelaire.
Don Quixote was such a pleasure for me, in that it created and explored the sort of deluded hero with a grounded sidekick trope, of which is quite amusing. The ballet is incomparable.
Lastly, on philosophy, I enjoy Spinoza and his reasoning, more rational yet religious than any other. He is quite in the middle. Voltaire and Descartes. Epictetus and his writings of Stoicism had me intrigued for a time. Kierkegaard's Either/Or, Hume's On Suicide, Camus' The Myth of Sisyphus, Clausewitz's 'On the Nature of War,' Sartre, Confucius' Shang Shu, etc. I have yet to read the Greeks: Aristotle, Plato, Socrates and Euripides.
I apologise for this compilation's length, most of it being my own elaboration, but there is much I enjoy and I hope to have some time to myself to explore the literatures of other cultures, of which I have been intending to do. Most probably more Asian literature; I have been reading much Western literature, so I shall read some eastern. I hope you enjoy the books as much as I do.

Aeneas and Didona - artist Oksana Ternavska
In 2011, the Ukrainian publishing house issued a deck of cards based on the characters of the poem by Ivan Petrovich Kotlyarovsky "Eneyid". The Eneida (1798) transmutes Aeneas and the Trojans into dispossessed Cossacks of the period after the suppression of the Zaporizhska Sich (Cossack territory) in 1775.
Ivan Kotlyarevsky, Kotlyarevsky also spelled Kotliarevsky, was the first work written wholly in the Ukrainian language; it distinguished him as the father of modern Ukrainian literature.
Virgil also underwent satirical alteration in Italy ( "Eneide travestita", Lally, 1633) and France ( Le Virgile travesti en vers burlesques par Paul Scarron)

Ərazinin top atəşənə tutulduğu beş günlük mühasirədən sonra ruslar Qacar qoşunlarının üstünlüyünə baxmayaraq qalaya hücum etdilər. Sərkərdələrin və əsgərlərin əksəriyyətinin öldürüldüyü mühasirədə ağır itkilərə məruz qalsalar da, ruslar qalanı alaraq Lənkəranı işğal etdilər. Qala ələ keçirildikdən sonra Qacar ordusunun bütün əsgərləri rus ordusu tərəfindən qətlə yetirildi və ruslar heç kimi əsir götürmədilər. General Kotlyarevski özü mühasirə zamanı ağır yaralandı və bundan sonra döyüşlərdə iştirak edə bilmədi, Qacar canişini Sadiq Xan qalaya hücum zamanı öldürüldü. Mühasirə zamanı Rusiyanın 296 nəfərdən təşkil olunan 17-ci yeger alayından cəmi 74 nəfər sağ qalmışdı. https://www.instagram.com/p/CYp7CVnoFVX/?utm_medium=tumblr
