Is there a reason why Sasaki Kojiro’s real name is Tsuda? You know, like the Meaningful Name trope.

I don't think so. The opposite, even. It's a generic surname for a nobody.

While Miyamoto Musashi is the protagonist of Vagabond, the manga actually follows three very different main characters. Along with Musashi's storyline, there are Matahachi Honiden's and Sasaki Kojirou's.

Forever thinking about how Yamamoto is a natural born assassin and his main combat box animal is an akita and he’s Tsuna’s left hand, his sinister hand, and akita were bred to be both guard dogs and loyal companions for royalty

But also Kojirou who is both a reference to famed mythical swordsman Sasaki Kojirou and his Reverse Swallow Technique, a man who may or may not have existed, and his famous duel with Miyamoto Musashi, who used dual blades and had an X shaped block with his Nitenryu style
