Because Ryan Johnson hasn’t confirmed a storyline for knives out 3 it obviously means that he hasn’t got any ideas so here are the best ideas I’ve seen or heard of:

Curtain Call : Ballerina case. Phillips estranged step nice dies and Benoit is called in to the theatre (his godmother owns it) and solves the case with Gemma Chan as his new Blanc Girl

Unnamed ski trip case : Benoit amd Phillip are skiing on their honeymoon, when the chalet they’re staying in gets snowed in, and one by one, people start dying. Very stereotypical whodunnit. Philip is not the Blanc girl in this he’s just about. Zazie Beetz is the Blanc girl

Unnamed wedding case: Benoit’s been invited to his godmothers nieces wedding (needs to be a weird relation) whenever the groom dies. There’s a big love triangle between the bride, her maid of honour and the best man. The family’s hate each other, Phillip is like the family’s lawyer or summat. Goldie Hawn is the Blanc girl (I want an old Blanc girl badly and goldie is so love rn)

Television case: there’s a murder on set of a popular tv programme (idk if it’s like a graham Norton type or a soap) but all of the suspects are famous and it was one of the camera men the whole time

I’ve seen several people commenting on how Benoit Blanc’s husband/boyfriend/partner/Hugh Grant is baking a cake when we see him and what I need people to understand is that that man is holding a sourdough starter, and these are early pandemic days.

thinking about zoraal ja and sphene attending a match in the arcadion in their early days together. they must've shared a private booth, as royalty. claustrophobic. sphene's polite chatter dying away after the umpteenth dismissal. was he callous when he pointed out the alexandrians could use feral souls? or was he pensive instead? zoraal ja pioneered the technique in the arena, so he must've interacted with the management there. he must've watched some matches at least. maybe even participated? did it kindle a spark of hope in sphene that this was the moment he recognized the alexandrians as his subjects proper, showed genuine interest?

and how much disappointment did sphene already swallow before zoraal ja eventually took all that away again?

look, you cannot "headcannon" that the mona lisa was fake without destroying the literal text of the film. the mona lisa is epstein island, and miles is presented as untouchable because that's how billionaires literally are. nothing can be pinned on him, not with any real certainty, because his resources are unfathomably vast. he is just that powerful. it is not his murder that damns him, not his corporate crimes, not the recklessly negligent energy source, not the actual things that we know he has done to get to where he is. had only the glass onion blown up, it might have dealt him a blow financially and smeared his name and dragged him into court. but he's a billionaire. it wouldn't have ruined him. people wouldn't have cared enough to see that he actually goes down for what he does. we know that because it happens all the time in real life.

but the press coverage of destroying the mona lisa that he had in his possession only through corruption and backdoor dealings? that people will notice. it is the literal on-screen symbol of his power bought by wealth, and his sheer arrogance in thinking that he is above all rules because billionaires are above the rules that brings him down in the end.

as fun as it is to think that miles is so stupid that he was tricked into believing a fake mona lisa was real, it doesn't compete with the actual brilliance of film in taking the concept of epstein island and turning it into a light, family-friendly parable for child sex trafficking and somehow make it darker. because unlike epstein, it's not what miles does to people that matters. not the actual harm he does to them, the death he causes, the death he will cause if he's allowed to continue. only his destruction of a painting.

and it's supposed to remind you that in real life, epstein was murdered in his cell. miles gets justice in the film because it's a film and it needs a happy ending but it's not just. it's not for the crimes he deserves to punished for. in glass onion, the world is broken, and it's a reminder that ours is too.

because a this isn't a film, and we didn't get a happy ending. here in the real world, epstein’s co-offenders were never caught.

I know many of you don't read my long posts so here are my greatest recent Byler-canon comforts:

1. Lies, when revealed (especially when they directly influence the plot of the person lied to), have to affect the person lied to. Acceptance is a neutral response and therefore the only effects it can have on Mike are homo(phobic) or homo(sexual). (But homophobic wouldn't have impacted his actions and...well it isn't that one)

2. The nature of the tragedy of self-sabotage is that things would have gone differently had the character not self-sabotaged. Tragedy lies in the "what if". For season 4 to be a romantic tragedy for Will (which it canonically is even if the whole show isn't), there has to be a "what if"/"if only": if only Will hadn't lied, Mike would have reciprocated.

If these aren't true, the plot is pointless because it affects nothing if removed: Mike doesn't love Will? Then they wouldn't have ended up together whether Will told him or not. Mike doesn't love Will? Then he would have told El he loved her without the prompting of "you're the heart" and the painting from El. <- that is bad writing, and I trust the Duffers know better than that. They've demonstrated better in the past.
