how hard would you say it is to learn to knit? I taught myself to crochet but knitting looks so hard 😭
hello! honestly i tried a couple times to learn to knit and just ended up getting frustrated and quitting, so i totally understand why its intimidating to people!
that said, knitting is pretty simple. the only stitches are Knit and Purl, and every technique is some variation on that.
i think if you’ve taught yourself to crochet already, you have proven that you are patient and determined enough for this. i recommend finding something you really want to own (a sweater, a blanket, a scarf, anything really) and dedicate yourself to learning one technique it requires at a time. if you want any recommendations for patterns or technique videos, i would be happy to give them!
knitting seems a lot more complicated than it is, but if you take it one stitch at a time, its not so bad.
#ask#knitting#i hope this answered your question! and like i said im happy to give recommendations if you want them.#knitting is neat because there are so many techniques to learn#but they all come from basic knitting and purling#so learning them is a challenge but not scary yknow?#if you can already crochet you can figure out knitting! really its all pulling loops through loops#i believe in you!!!#you should send me pictures of your first project/swatch id LOVE to see it ♥️!

Hi! Big fan of your crochet projects ☺️ I purchased the Courage pattern the other day but only now realized it uses a Tunisian hook. Would you happen to have a pic of the hook? Or do you know if I can use a regular crochet hook to do the project? This sounds like the perfect opportunity to learn this type of stitch haha
Thanks in advance
Hi, thank you for asking! Id love to answer this for you since a lot of people seem to be curious what I’m doing since it’s not common to see toys made with Tunisian crochet hooks, but for me they are perfect and once I figured it out I couldn’t stop.
Here are the crochet hooks and Tunisian crochet hooks I use the most!
So basically Tunisian crochet hooks are in general longer, because you need to keep many loops on the hooks. You can even get ones that are attached with strings if your projects are big(like the first hook in the picture). Let me share you two of the more common stitches you can do with Tunisian crochet to show what I mean!
A) Tunisian simple stitch
Forward pass:
Return pass:
This is the technique I use for blankets and pillow cases. It’s one of my favorite ever for how neat they look.
B) Tunisian knit stitch
Forward pass
Return pass
And this is the technique I use for all my toys! (The clothes for the toys I use the regular hooks) I figured this out one day when I was making socks lol. They give such smooth texture just like knitting, but you do it with the logic like crocheting!
I hope this answers your question and I hope you’ll have fun! Let me know if you have any further questions! ♥️

Neurodivergent Knitting: Casting On
Let’s face it, casting on is one of the hardest parts of knitting to learn, and sometimes one of the hardest to implement. Here are four of the most common methods and their pros/cons for the disabled and/or neurodivergent knitter.
Simple Cast On (single twist)
The easiest to execute, but one of the hardest to work stitches out of, especially if you have hand disabilities. It is a very stable casting technique, good for items you don’t want stretchy edges on or for items you want to puff in the middle. It uses no extra yarn, so you don’t need more than a couple of inches of tail (that way you actually have something you can weave to hide it later). Where it gets tough is that it has no gauge regulation of its own--the tightness of each stitch is 100% controlled by the knitter, so the tiniest moment of carelessness can pull a stitch too tight to get a second needle into it to work it. All you have to do to execute the simple cast on is to place a slipknot on your right needle, take your live yarn (the end connected to the skein/ball), give it a single clockwise twist so that it makes a closed loop, slide the loop onto the needle, and pull fairly tight--the tightness here has a big influence on the gauge of the bottom border, and if you make it too loose you may find it difficult to get any kind of uniformity going. When you look at your needle, it should look very similar to a sewing blanket stitch--vertical bars spaced out with yarn traveling horizontally between them, and the horizontal part should look kind of like it’s weaving in and out, in this case over the stitch it came from and under the stitch it’s going into.
Super Stretchy Cast On (double twist)
This one shares many of the same characteristics as the single twist cast on, both the positive and the negative, with one HUGE difference: this cast on will give you stretch instead of stability. The amount of stretch is variable, and tends to adjust itself based on what you work out of it on the first few rows of the work. It’s ideal for a rib or cable pattern with no bottom border, including top-down socks and gloves, cowls, hats, or limb-warmers. The stretchy cast on is most easily executed by placing a slipknot on the working needle, taking the live yarn, making a loop/twist like before, then twisting it one more time before sliding it onto the needle. The biggest challenge when using this cast on is that if you do not slide the stitches close together and pull up all their slack, they become irregular in size later. As a result, your first row working into them will be tight, just like with the simple cast on.
Crochet Cast On (picking up stitches)
This is probably the second-easiest to execute. Nothing fancy here, just make a slipknot, chain however many stitches you want to cast on. Then you get your knitting needle and pick up the back bar of each chain stitch (I say back bar because it makes what crocheters call a ‘neat edge’ at the bottom, but you can pick up the front top if that’s easiest for you). It is a very stable edge, but has a bit more give to it than the simple cast on, and makes a somewhat ornamental, very visible bottom edge. This cast on is the gentlest, sensory-wise, as you have no extra yarn touching you and there is little risk of the stitch getting too tight to work.
Long Tail Cast On (two-strand cast on)
Personally, I hate long tail. If you don’t judge the length of your tail correctly, you’ll either run out before you’ve cast the right length or you’ve got all that wasted yarn. I’m so, so bad at estimating that kind of length. That being said, it is extremely easy to work into, and is the foundation of most provisional/invisible cast on techniques (which allow you to make live-stitch borders that allow you to work both up and down from the same edge with no seam, very handy for fancy borders). To execute the long-tail cast on, first acknowledge that you’re probably going to estimate your tail length wrong and be ready to sacrifice a few inches of yarn (I’ve been told that the simplest way to estimate is to get two to three times as much length as the width of your work, depending on the size of needle, but let me tell ya, this definitely doesn’t always work for me...). It’s like cooking pasta or making buttercream frosting: size up the project, estimate the amount you think you’ll need, you are wrong. Now that you’ve come to terms with the loss and reminded yourself that it’s not your fault and you’re going to trust the process...twist the yarn around the needle so that you have the dead yarn (the tail end) crossing over the top of the live yarn (the skein end). With my mobility issues, I’ve found it easiest to hold my live yarn like I always do (behind the index, in front of middle and ring fingers, behind the pinky; sometimes, if the yarn feels like it’s getting away from me, I’ll slow it down by looping around my pinky once) and hold my dead yarn looped around my thumb and using my ring finger or pinky to catch up fresh loops. It’s difficult to execute this cast on if you hold the two ends in different hands, but it is possible if you don’t have enough control in your yarn hand--in that case, hold the dead yarn to the left (the ‘bottom’ of the cast edge) and the live yarn to the right (the ‘top’ of the cast edge); this is also the easy way for knitters who hold their yarn English style. Okay! All that complicated stuff is out of the way. Now is where it gets extremely simple: You’re going to make a single twist on the dead yarn (as if you were casting it onto the needle; as I mentioned, I like to keep this loop ready on my thumb, as if my thumb were my left needle), insert your needle knitwise and use your live yarn to knit a stitch onto your needle while dropping the twisted loop from your thumb and tugging the slack tight. That’s it. That’s all it is. Just using loops on a tail to knit through. You can even use scrap yarn from the same skein or dye lot and have your tail be a totally separate piece. You can use a contrasting yarn for the tail and then come through and add a border by using that contrasting yarn to find where to pick up stitches, after which you can just remove the contrasting yarn (this is called a provisional or temporary cast on, and it’s the easiest way to leave live stitches for a decorative edge). Sensory-wise, since you have two distinct strands of yarn doing two different tasks, this method is kind of icky; for me, I spend the whole time mentally chanting ‘nope’ while I remember that I have Big Plans™ for a fancy edge.

To Phyllis
Phyllis had never been to the zoo.
Her mother had been an alcoholic, and though her father had once been a kind man, he had become bitter with years of Vera’s drinking and handling the busy hardware store on his own. Nobody had time or interest in taking her to the zoo. There was a period of Phyllis’s childhood, from about the ages of seven to ten, that she spent summers with an aunt and uncle at their cabin outside the city.
Every morning, she woke to the smell of bacon and eggs cooking on her aunt’s electric skillet. Her aunt Edna would brown a piece of toast, slather it in butter and jelly, and cut it in half – diagonally, the way Phyllis liked. Then she’d make a smiley face on Phyllis’s plate – the triangles of toast for eyes, an egg for the nose, and a greasy bacon smile.
After breakfast, her uncle Tom would take her out fishing on the lake in the jon boat, or maybe they’d pick up sticks for firewood. Some mornings they’d drive to the filling station in town for fuel and the newspaper, and uncle Tom would give her a nickel for the gumball machine. Phyllis remembered many evenings spent around the fire listening to the crickets and frogs in the woods, counting the stars that peaked through the canopy of trees, and roasting marshmallows. Sometimes Phyllis liked to catch the marshmallows on fire, let the outside burn to a black crisp, and then peel the burnt shell off to enjoy the warm gooey marshmallow within. Other times, she would hold them high above the flames so that they wouldn’t brown but would be hot on the outside while still cool on the inside.
During the final weeks of summer as Labor Day approached heralding the return to school – and to life with her parents – Phyllis’s despair would mount with each passing day. It was March of 4th grade, just as the crocuses were in bloom and the trees were starting to green and the days beginning to warm, that the news came of her aunt and uncle’s death in a tragic accident. The local fire chief suspected that a windy March night had blown embers in through the open kitchen window, setting their home aflame.
As Phyllis grieved that summer for the loss of her aunt and uncle, she did her best to stay out of her father’s way and to avoid her mother’s drunken fits. She tried making bacon and eggs with butter jelly toast the way her aunt Edna had, but the eggs were runny, the bacon burned, and her father never bought any jelly.
When she was seventeen, a young man named Jack started delivering supplies to her father’s hardware store. At the behest of her father’s constant prodding and persuasion, Phyllis and Jack were married shortly thereafter. She didn’t realize it at the time, but her father had been eager to have someone else “take care of” Phyllis – her mother had passed when she was 15 from cirrhosis of the liver, and the hospital bills and funeral costs had nearly drained the family of any savings. Marrying her off had allowed her father to sell the house and save himself from complete financial ruin; for a few years after, he used the back office of the store as his lodgings and ate one meal a day from the diner down the street.
Phyllis and Jack’s marriage was happy enough – they took the car for rides on Sundays, and would sometimes go see a picture together. Jack would say things that made Phyllis laugh, and somehow, against all odds, Phyllis became quite a good cook for Jack. Phyllis had decided there wasn’t much passion or romantic love in their relationship, but more of a friendship – a partner, someone to work through the hardships of life together, to keep one another’s company and stave off the loneliness, and that was enough for her. They both took it pretty hard when they were unable to conceive after years of trying, hoping, but resolved to live out their days together in the good way that they got along, regardless of the unusual circumstances of their coming together.
When Jack passed unexpectedly of an early morning heart attack at the age of 73, Phyllis struggled at first with living alone. She realized she had never actually been alone in all her life, even if, at times, those that kept her company were disinterested in her and aloof. She eventually fell into a new swing of things, though, and did her best to keep busy. She got a kitten the following spring from a neighbor whose cat had born a litter – a pretty little calico with fluffy cheeks and a bushy tail. “Kitten” was her name, even as she became a full-grown cat, and Kitten would keep Phyllis company while she tended her garden until her knees and back became too bad to bear the work anymore. The arthritis in her hands eventually made her put down her knitting needles, and when she fell in the bathroom, she finally conceded to herself that maybe it was time to sell the house and move into “an old people’s home.”
Phyllis told me all of this after shuffling over to the bench to sit next to me in front of the lions at the Bronx Zoo. She had quite a stooping posture, but with the help of her walker, she seemed to be fairly steady on her feet. She told me that her assisted living home had planned an outing to the zoo that day, and she was not going to miss it for anything. She had just left the area where they kept the hippos, and was surprised to find out that hippo teeth don’t look like marshmallows after all, like they always did in the cartoons she watched as a kid. That was okay though, she’d told me – she really just wanted to see a great big lion open its great big mouth in a great big yawn, and she’d be happy. They held a yoga class once a week at her home, and she’d learned the “lion’s breath” technique. “How neat it’d be to do a lion’s breath with a real lion,” she had said.
I found out that Phyllis’s home was not far from the pastry shop where I worked, so I’d stop in to visit her once a week and bring her a baked treat. I never said much during our visits – Phyllis did most of the talking – but I was okay with that. I got the feeling that Phyllis hadn’t talked much during her life and maybe needed to get some things out.
Eventually, I started to notice that Phyllis didn’t seem to be doing as well as when I had met her, and I feared she was truly going downhill. I stopped in one day, and Phyllis was lying in bed. She told me she didn’t feel like getting up that day, and she’d never spent a single day of her life relaxing in bed before, so by god she was going to do it today. She lay on her side with the pillow crammed between her arm and her head. She turned her eyes to me, and I swear she looked straight into my soul with those dark brown eyes when she said, “Life is strange. You gotta make the best of it. And that means different things to different people.” I gave her hand a gentle squeeze, smiled, and said, “That’s really nice, Phyllis. Thank you.”
We had been sitting quietly for a while when Phyllis finally spoke. “Get in my desk over there for me. In the top drawer on the right. There’s something in there I want you to have.” I opened the drawer, and there, on top of a stack of old postcards, lay a Christmas ornament. She had bought it from the gift shop at the zoo the day of the zoo outing. It was a ceramic purple hippo wearing a Santa hat, mouth wide open revealing the perfect dentition within – perfectly white, perfectly round, perfectly marshmallow-shaped teeth.
She passed away eight days later. The nurses told me she suffered very little, which I was thankful for. More than all, I was thankful that Phyllis chose to sit at the bench outside the lion den, thankful that I was sitting at that very same bench at that very same moment, thankful to have made her acquaintance and have her friendship. Because of her and the life wisdom she imparted upon me, I took a chance on myself and auditioned for a part in a Broadway play. I got the part. My acting career blossomed from there, and I quit my job at the pastry shop. Phyllis’s purple hippo hangs from the rearview mirror in my car, and I think of her every day when I look in my mirror at the mother behind me screaming at her kids in the backseat, or the construction worker munching on a sandwich on his way back to the job site – all just everyday people making the best of their lives in the whatever way means the most to them.
My nephew Ben visits me for a couple weeks every summer. I make him bacon and eggs and butter jelly toast, except he likes the toast cut horizontally into two rectangles. Every night, we cook a few marshmallows on the stove – some of them we burn to a crisp, and some of them we hold high up over the flames so they’re hot on the outside and cool on the inside. We clink our marshmallows together in a toast to Phyllis. Although Ben was confused at first and didn’t know who Phyllis was, he now joins in wholeheartedly as we pay nightly homage to the woman who helped me become who I am.
“To Phyllis!” he says.
I smile and say, “Yes. To Phyllis.”

Loom knitting for the hat and cowl set with gradient colors
Loom knitting for the hat and cowl set with gradient colors
There are many reasons to loom knit. It is a simple technique without a long learning curve. Even kids can learn quickly and start making a hat or scarf. Hand knitting takes more practice to avoid mistakes, but loom knitting always looks neat. Just pick the right size of the loom and start knitting. Don’t need to worry about swatch and size.
Basics of the loom knitting
For a beginner, you need to know different types of looms. There are circular, square, long, and S shape loops. Hats and cowls are usually knitted on the circular shape. It also comes in different sizes for baby, kids, adult, and large adult.
You can also knit a flat piece on a circular loom. The S looms are usually for bigger blankets. There area also long and narrow looms for scarf. You can make double layer fabric from that.
The other thing is the gauge of the knitting, meaning the distance between 2 pegs. The popular ones have wider spacing between pegs and are suitable for chunky weight yarns or double strands of the medium worsted weight yarn. If you use medium-thick yarn on the chunky loom, there will be holes showing.
The next size has smaller-spacing pegs than chunky, and the standard worsted weight yarn will work nicely. Because the spacing is closer, you will need more stitches to knit the same size hat. It is not a bad thing, it just takes longer to finish a project.
And there is the small gauge loom with pegs that are very closely next to each other. There are usually for knitting socks. Often the loom is adjustable so you can loom knit different sizes of socks. I find the socks loom too small to manipulate stitches comfortably.
Watch our video for loom knitting hat and cowl
My daughter made the hat on a chunky loom. I made the cowl on a medium gauge loom to match. She also made the pompom. She actually made several pompoms to give out to her friends. There are pompom makers in the market if you want to make precise shape pompoms, but I like the simple homemade ones and trim to the ball shape.
Tips for loom knitting
If you tie up a knot on the beginning peg (some loom has that extra peg below, some don’t), remember to untie it after the first few rows.
Keep the tension even. Not too loose or too tight. If you pull too tight, it is very difficult to knit.
If you don’t like the rolled edge, you can knit longer and turn it over. Sew up with a yarn or thread on the back side of the knitting. Another way is to knit the ribbing (alternating 1 knit, 1 purl stitches). You can find a lot tutorials on you tube to make a purl stitches on the loom.
If your yarn contains some natural fiber such as cotton or wool, you can block it with a steaming iron and make the stitches even and neat.
Avoid pure cotton yarns when you are starting out. Pure cotton is not stretchy or flexible enough and harder to work with. If it is mixed with other fiber such as polyester or wool, it is easier to work with.
That’s all tips I have for beginners. Go pick up some pretty yarns and start loom knitting. The simplicity makes it very relaxing, especially on a cold winter night with a cup of hot tea.

The Art of Destruction: Distressed Aesthetics
A belated happy new year, my dear followers!
So, I have a neat idea for a new series coming up. But after the holidays (which were pleasantly busy) and some interpersonal scuffling in January (which was not nearly as lovely, but came to an all-right enough resolution), my idea bank was absolutely flat broke.
A nice chat with friends has filled the bowl up, but while I work on those posts, here is something I stashed off to the side after a Facebook conversation last year.
I often reference fashion and clothing to help get in the right mindset for my writing projects. Whilst working on Poe's Outlaws (Book 4 of The Meaning Wars series; book 3, The Meaning Wars, is ready for beta-reading and edits now!) I indulged in my usual technique of sifting through Dolls Kill and Pinterest to look at various bits of outre, fun, futuristic fashion. Of course, when working on Monsters and Fools and planning for After the Garden's sequels, I also like to look at post-apocalyptic and distressed clothing. I like distressed clothing anyway, but it tends to get a lot of flack. =
On an episode of a podcast called Minion Death Cult, the hosts discussed some common reactions of tradespeople and Boomers to distressed and some faux-muddy jeans. (Not unsurprisingly, there were a lot of tired jokes about just selling people old, worn-out jeans from "real" tradesmen.) But not a lot of people understand how distressed clothing works, or why it's somehow different from their dad's old, grimy jeans and tattered denim jacket, so I'm going to break it down.
Note: all images in this article came from the Nordstrom website. Most or all are designed by PRPS.
I'm gonna take the unusual stance here of defending distressed jeans, because I've been studying and making distressed knit clothing and other types of distressed clothing for a bit. Why? Because I like post-apocalyptic fashion, and I think wrecked things are often beautiful.
You may be familiar with the term "wabi-sabi," which sometimes passes in and out of vogue for decorating trends. The term is comprised of two Japanese words - wabi, in a nutshell, refers to the beauty of simplicity; sabi, to the beauty of age and use. There's a bit more to it, but that's the quick explanation of these beautiful and imperfectly translatable terms. Wabi-sabi is usually used in reference to home decor, but it totally applies to clothing, too.
Anyway, getting on with the point - the thing about dirty jeans is that they're gonna leave dirt on wherever you sit. Fake dirt still captures the same look, the rather beautiful way the brown stains and fades into the tightly woven blue threads, but it won't leave big ol' scuffmarks on your leather car seats.
As for the distressing, the interesting and beautiful way that denim falls apart tends to happen in less sexy areas - the knees, the thighs, the crotch. Distressing clothes on purpose lets you get the look without impairing the wearability and structural integrity of the clothes. Sometimes that doesn't work at all, like with the cheaper distressed jeans that are all holes and have a high spandex content, but that's still the idea.
As far as how this relates to designing and making clothing, with knitwear (such as the awesome punk sweaters we all may love, or at least have seen before), it's important to know how the particular fibres and yarns work structurally. There's a reason why clothing made to be or look distressed looks so awesome and a lot of actually busted up clothing or "home-made" distressed stuff looks crappy. Knowing where and how to cut fabric in pre-made knits, how to style the runs, or how to make patterns with the runs and holes, is all very calculated. As I've learned myself, if you try to distress a finely-knit sweater, it'll look like crap; distressing needs a chunkier, thicker yarn to be really noticeable. And wet-blocking a ravelled sweater (stretching while wet) is very important - otherwise, the threads maintain their curled appearance, and don't become those straight lines that create contrast with the curving knitted stitches. It's also really important to actually tie off runs in a distressed sweater, or the whole thing will, in fact, unravel.
The advantage of knitting a sweater with a distressed look is that you can control this process. In effect, dropped stitches and yarn-overs create a sort of freeform lace look, and don't destroy the structural integrity of the sweater (which unravelling a pre-made sweater CAN do).
So basically there IS a method to the madness in pre-distressed clothing, and knowing how to distress your clothing well and safely - whether it's for a stage production, Halloween, or fashion - takes more than sharp scissors and boredom!
Predictably, clothes like this inspire retorts like, "I could give you my old jeans covered in cow manure and farm dirt and motor oil for that price!" But that's the point - the "fake dirt" that so baffled the Washington Post and CNN, where reporters appeared unfamiliar with the concept of "p a i n t", will not rub off or dirty other surfaces. The pants don't contain the scent and sweat of another person's work, nor are they worn out and about to fall apart, as those pants probably are. (For example, the wear patterns and distressing and whiskering all appear on the thighs and calves of the jeans, rather than in the crotch, around the bottom cuffs, and etcetera.)
It's not about pretending you work - it's about exploring the beauty of entropy and things that are lived-in. The way fabric dye fades, the soft whiskering of denim fabric, the delicate feathers of raw-edged cotton - all of these have their own beauty. Repairs can create a contrast from the original fabric or material as well, and it needn't be ugly. People familiar with "that weird gold thing," kintsuogi, may also know have seen it in cases where useful objects are repaired and the cracks are patched with gold leaf to highlight their beauty.
Here's another example of finding beauty in marks and unexpected places. When I saw an advertisement for Canada Post that featured a very intriguing necklace, I tracked down the artist's work and had a look at her site.

Or, like this!
There is real value in appreciating things as we wear them out. If we are to shift to a less consumption-driven culture, which is necessary in the fight against climate change, we're gonna have to get used to not having things that look new all the time. Supplies and availability of items may be restricted. Repairing clothing and items instead of just throwing them out has also become pretty popular amongst Generation Z, many of whom are embracing thrifting and minimal-waste lifestyles.
But in addition to that, there's also a beauty in the broken or fraying, the imperfect, the less-than-new. Most of the time we spend with an item will be active. Jewelry gets scratches. Clothes rip. Colours fade. Paper tears. And all of those things expose new beauties and different aspects of the item, revealing its structure and design and suggesting or reminding us of experiences we've had.
After all, our possessions act as anchors for memories. There's a reason why in pre-industrial times, treasured items were passed down through generations or repaired over and over. Our things aren't just pretty diversions or useful parts of daily life - they're parts of our lives, woven or tangled with our memories.

Do you have any tips for making a blanket and creating a pattern form a picture?
Hi, friend! Thanks so much for your patience in my reply (I know I’m not the best with prompt responses)!
I should preface this with saying that I have never drafted a pattern for something as large as a blanket, so if any other knitters have more applicable tips, I’d love for them to weigh in! I realize that you’re asking specifically for tips on working from a picture, but I figure I’ll share my little bits of experience in pattern drafting overall, in hopes that it will be helpful and not overwhelming. This got way longer than I was anticipating, so I’ve added a readmore to hopefully spare everyone’s dash.
Okay, tips!
Give yourself permission to make mistakes! As with all things in skilled crafts, mistakes will happen. Taking something from your brain and making it a tangible thing can be really, really hard. Expect that mistakes and frogging will happen. Embrace it as part of the process! Delight in your mistakes and what you’ve learned from them!
Start with a picture! (Which, I know you already implied you’re doing. In the case of not having a picture of a finished object) it really helps to have something visual to refer back to when you get lost, stuck or overwhelmed. Even if it’s just a doodle in a notebook that no one else will ever be able to fully understand, having that end goal as something you can see really helps!
Chart! Taking your vision and breaking it down into the technical points before you even begin can be a really great way to set a path for yourself. I, personally, am a big fan of stitchfiddle for charting. The website has a watered-down version of charting that works well enough, or a premium version you can pay for if you get really into the charting. There are also nifty apps that exist for knitting that can be super helpful too! For example, Conligata and KnitCompanion!
Google stuff! So far, every time I’ve gotten through the charting process, I’ve realized that my pattern will call for techniques that maybe I can’t do in my sleep. That’s when I jump to the internet and go searching for technique and tip tutorials to refine the details of what I’m about to make.
Ask for help! I’ve found knitters are fantastic people that are here for the love of the craft, and are always ready to jump in and share what knowledge they possess, should a question arise. Ravelry is a super fantastic source of support in their forums! Having one on one support can sometimes be the most helpful thing. Tutorials are great, but sometimes our needs get a little more specific than what tutorials can offer.
Draft! Once I have all my theoretical components laid out, I like to then write myself an actual pattern to start with. It doesn’t have to be pretty, it doesn’t even have to be anything more than scribbles in a notebook. Just a something that I know I can follow, again, to give myself a path and a plan.
Swatch! I realize swatching is not everyone’s favorite thing to do, but it really can be so helpful! Not just for obtaining gauge, but for refining and practicing techniques before jumping into the Big And Scary of actually doing the project itself. Swatching is what gives me 99.9% of my confidence in knitting. (The other .1% is probably dumb luck, for reference)
Write down everything you do! Especially as you’re doing it! Sometimes when you realize that mistakes have been made, having the written down pieces can be the best way to measure where you went wrong. It also gives you a reference point of all the things you did right when you try go to write your pattern down later to use again.
Revise! Once you have successfully made your pattern (yay!!) celebrate your victory, of course, but make sure you take the time to go back and write everything back out neatly into something that you can follow again to recreate your success! Include the notes you made to make sure you don’t repeat mistakes!
If you’re writing the pattern with the intent to publish
Reach out for test-knitters! The best way to make sure your pattern is user friendly to as many people as possible is to share it with others! Asking other knitters to test knit before publishing and inviting dialogue for what reads well and what doesn’t can be crucial for making sure your vision can be recreated by anyone.
Accept criticism! Remember the goal here is to make your pattern accessible. Sometimes, despite my best intentions, I know the thing in my brain may not always translate to the page as well as I intended. It can be tough, but I like to remind myself that the criticism from my test knitters is also well intended; it helps polish my finished pattern!
Draft again! Take everything you’ve learned, all your knowledge and wisdom of this pattern, and lay it out nice and neat for the whole world to follow. I usually like to use Google Docs for this (and all my drafts, really), because it’s free, they have templates you can follow (or make your own!), and they can be converted into share-friendly PDFs.
Publish that baby! Release your brain child into the world! Again, I am a big fan of Ravelry for just about everything knitting related, and publishing is no exception to that.
I really hope this helps and was not like. Too overwhelming. Also, I will of course be here to explain anything else further if you need it, or to be your personal cheerleader if The Frustration attacks you, as it can sometimes be wont to do. Also, I am now realizing that in this whole novel of a post, I have left out the most important bit:
Have fun with it.
That’s why we’re all here, isn’t it? Remember to relax, breathe, stretch your hands, and enjoy the process of making!
Good luck, friend!

Knitting
These are my first knitting samples I created which I not only enjoyed creating I think by my third sample I was able to produce a straight stitched and neat knitting sample. To create my knitting sample I first had to cast onto my needles my creating a slip knot which was very simple and once that was on I began creating my loops and was able to begin knitting out my sample by passing the wool back and fourth between the needles.
I think if I were to continue using this technique I would develop it more by adding in more colours into a plainer background of colour like beige to represent a wall and as I add bolder colours it would be how I represent an abstract representation of graffiti and street art all combined onto a plain wall.
I think that learning this knitting technique is useful for my narrative as there is a type of 3d media street art called yarn bombing which is a form of street art using textiles, if I were to continue expanding this technique i would look further into specific yarn bombing artists and their style of knitting and crochet.
To research yarn bombing I looked into the street artist London Kaye nicknamed The Queen of yarn bombing who is known to go around Brooklyn installing her giant crochet pieces into urban places around the city, she sees it as taking something that typically older women do and transforming it into something entirely new for the general public to view.
She began learning how to crochet when she was 13 and continued up until now, her career of yarn bombing began when she was tired of working multiple 9-5 jobs so she took a scarf which she wasn’t going to sell and tied it to a tree this began to catch on and she has continued to create yarn bombing pieces since so successfully that she no longer needs to do her 9-5 job.
London was able to open up four different instalments and create her own shop as many brands saw what she was doing and loved all her different patterns styles and the way that she creates everything however a lot of her work doesn’t stay up long not because of extreme weather but usually a lot of people end up taking it down for themselves.
London finds her inspiration everywhere from recent events in the news, pop culture and actual graffiti and street art and once she is inspired she goes back and draws out her idea in the most basic possible form adds in colours and then begins to crochet it out in separate pieces before gluing them together giving them better structure and once it is done she goes out and puts them up in display her art is usually displayed on chain fence as it is easiest way for her to tie her yarn up and it can also give her pieces a lot of extra structure and allow them to stay up longer or she finds objects on the street like random water pipes which she will create large splats out of to make people laugh as they walk by.
I am greatly inspired by her and I can see myself learning crochet techniques throughout the rest of this project and creating smaller samples before my final outcome which would be a bigger sample of a knitted or crocheted piece like one of her instalments.

Lycosa Robess - College Student Communist
@chaoticevilfantrolls
I’ve been considering making her a purpleblood, rather than a tealblood. I’d love some ideas for tying that into her re-design, if possible!
Reading her profile, I’m definitely interested in making her a purpleblood. So I’ll absolutely address that as we continue! I think linking her back to teal a little bit may be reasonable, though, given the setting.
Planet: Alternia, AU where she plays SBURB and as well as the age of being shipped of planet is 10 sweeps. Also, caste traits can be mixed up thanks to linked traits and genetic weirdness (like with Vapula).
Name:Lycosa Robess - Lycosa: From Lycosa tarantula, the animal originally known as the common tarantula. Ties into her lusus, horns, and just about everything else relating to bugs in her theme.
- Robess: From Maximilien Robespierre, one of the most prominent figures of the French Revolution. Connects to her ‘revolution for the sake of it’ ideology, as well as her typing quirk (As the two numbers she replaces are also part of the year of the beginning of the French Revolution).
Oh man… I used to be a bit of a French Revolution nerd. I adore this connection to her revolution for the sake of it ideology. Robespierre was a really chaotic man who was willing to go to some incredible extremes. Nice link!
Age:Typically between 8-10.
Strife Specibus:chainKind. Her iconic weapon is a Kusarigama with a hammer on one end and a sickle on the other.
I See Your Joke And I Love It.
Fetch Modus: Hive Modus. All items are stored within a hexagonal grid, forming rings around a core item. Only items on the current outermost row can be accessed, and each row needs to be completed before items can be added to the next layer. She picked up this modus when she was still really in her bugs phase, which she kind of regrets now that she’s going for a cool hip college communist aesthetic.
Just inconvenient enough to be fun. I also like that even though it harkens back to her old bug interest, it’s also a modus based around the structure of a communal species, making it still count for a reasonable communism reference.
Blood color: Currently Teal, though I’m thinking about making her a purpleblood (maybe a defector from the cult? Especially because her rebellious nature is taken to an idealistic extreme- she doesn’t have a moral end goal, she just wants things to change.)
I do think that a purpleblood defector is a great thing to do. It ties into her theme of a desire for change and development to have her rebel against a structure like that. And even if we change her, we can still link her back to this tealblood root a little bit. See, a desire to change Can be her moral center. Her view of right and wrong can be ‘anything goes as long as it is in the name of change.’ She can have a judicial nucleus built around the conception that change is the ultimate right.
Symbol and meaning: It kinda looks like a bug? I don’t necessarily want to go with an extended zodiac sign, because her symbol is technically from the same family as Vapula’s. Maybe a small adjustment to match the teal sign language would be good, if not changing the symbol to something else entirely (if she ends up as a purpleblood).
Oh yeah, I’ll definitely give her a custom sign. It fits teal sign language well enough that I might leave it mostly untouched even when I change her to a purple.
Trolltag: malcontentMarionette - Malcontent: Someone who is displeased with their current situation
- Marionette: I feel this would tie in well to making her a purpleblood? She ends up as a sort of puppet, controlled by the violetblood in her session and becoming the leader of his consort army. Additionally, a marionette would tie into the inherent circus theme of most purplebloods, and her status as a mind player (controlling choices in some form).
Oooh I love this… It expresses her original feeling of being malcontented with the state of things and feeling like a puppet of her institution while also acting as foreshadowing for her story… And if she’s a purple, it Does indicate the general clown theme as Well as the chucklevoodoos. And if we do make her a time player (I’m on the fence there… Maybe. Mayhaps), it’s a good reference to that too.
Quirk: Actually has two different quirks, although they’re not used simultaneously.
Originally, she typed in all caps, replacing b with 8 and t with 7, representing insect eyes and mandibles. She would use horizontal emoticons with two sets of eyes (oOwOo) to represent a jumping spider’s face. She also wouldn’t use much ending punctuation, instead sticking to commas to denote pacing.
“MM: 7HE QUICK 8ROWN FOX JUMPED OVER 7HE LAZY DOG oOwOo”
As time goes on, her quirk becomes much more ‘refined’, cut back to proper syntax and grammar, with a distinct lack of emoticons. She maintains the symbol replacements out of some deep, in-borne spite, but that’s about all.
“MM: 7he quick 8rown fox jumped over 7he lazy dog.”
I like it a lot!
Special Abilities:Nothing in particular as a tealblood. As a purpleblood I’ve considered giving her chucklevoodoos that incite feelings of outrage, overconfidence, and anger, which can cause riots and rebellion. Additionally, being able to manifest insects (ala Gamzee creating Lil’ Cal, on a much lower level).
That’d be pretty neat, because chucklevoodoos are said to be a way for purples to keep the lowbloods in check/keep them in line. Her abilities having the direct opposite impact could be good… Maybe her abilities naturally started as an ability that influenced individuals to cause infighting, inducing rage against companions and manifesting visions of insects to get people to swat at each other and exacerbate fights? But she’s been actively teaching herself to move away from that ability because she does not want to be a tool of the system or a tool of control. Of course she could then try to utilize it as a power for unifying feelings of anger and giving it motivational direction.
Lusus: A jumping spider the size of a kitten at most. A sweet, gentle lusus whom Lycosa most definitely doted on when she was younger. Her lusus will knit you sweaters out of web silk.
Oh I love… If we make her a purple, we could just shift that to a sea spider probably. The silk’s still fine. Make some fishing nets out of that silk, little cute spider.
Personality: Lycosa, as a person, is fundamentally unhappy and ill-at-ease, banking on rebellion and change for the hell of it to fill some sort of thing that she can’t seem to place. She doesn’t care about the morality of the change she’s advocating for, as long as it happens, and as long as it soothes whatever emotional turmoil that is bubbling inside of her.
She tends to let herself get swept away on flights of emotional fancy, elaborate stories of ‘what if’ that eventually become ‘it will’. Her belief that she can find all of the answers to her disillusionment in the form of others, or in the form of external relationships is one of those things. She ends up clinging far too much to a fellow player in her session, who uses her fancy to manipulate her into becoming his second-in-command, and an essential puppet under his control.
She also tends to hold back any signs of her old interests, and any traits she has that others might not like. When the violetblood in her session expresses distaste in her interest in insects, she drops any signs of interest besides the most minimal, retaining only her quirk in some subconscious spite, justifying the lack of change as simply matching his.
A big part of her story line is learning to cope with her general malcontent with life in a way that doesn’t involve deep-throating molotovs for revolution, or clinging to the first person who offers her some sense of stability no matter how much they’re using her for their own gain.
The relationship clinging is another of those little teal traits that I really like shining through in her. Picking someone that is bad for her and committing too powerfully to him… With the added purpleblooded fun of the dedication.
I definitely love her. I love her a lot. She’s a very detailed and thorough character with a lot of story growth potential. She has a wonderful character arc here… And she has so many aspects that she’s throwing around that you can develop her in a million directions…
Interests: Lycosa’s interests are few and rather simple, often shoved to the side in favor of mimicking whatever interests her current lover or friend happens to possess.
She spent most of her youth obsessed with bugs, from their physiology to their behavior. She knows how to manage just about any insect, from wasps to butterflies to mosquitos, and she has a deep fondness in her heart for arachnids as well. She can draw detailed drawings of them from memory (which ends up becoming relevant at a point in her quest),
Lycosa also has a deep and involved interest in illegal histories and recovering the names of banished and excised revolutionaries, recovering propaganda, symbols, and techniques they used to further their causes. Not out of any legitimate desire to bring those ideals to fruition, but because they’re a personal aesthetic and something to devote herself to.
Lycosa has a secondary interest in improvised weaponry and field first aid, which she learned as part of her research into revolutionary tactics.
God these are good interests… You’re great at picking a theme and sticking to it STRONGLY. Just to tie into that last bit, you should include interest in guerrilla warfare tactics, laying traps, Disarming traps… Just a little additional information that she could brag about having for theoretical revolutionary purposes.
Title: Her session already has a Void, Doom, Life, and Light player, so unfortunately those are off the table. I’ve been leaning towards Rogue or Thief of Mind or Heart, though.
Rogue of Mind might work for her over-abundance of options, which she has difficulty coping with. Thief of Heart would better show how she takes parts of herself from others, mirroring them more than showing much of herself in a relationship.
Okay… I’m definitely struggling to make a decision here. Right now I’m between Mind, Heart, Rage, and TIME.
Rogue of Mind works for sure. She needs to learn redistribute and allocate all of those choices, needs to learn to balance them out and move them around. To find the right decision among all the crap. And also to take back her own mind, her own free will, her own actions. She’d be able to redistribute logical thought and action. Her inverse is Knight of Heart, which would mean she could actively utilize the strength of her personal will, her emotions…
If she were a heart player, I’d argue she’s a Page of Heart. She’s someone who has a weak identity. She cares so much about her aesthetic and what others think of her and moving herself to their whim instead of being capable of defining her own identity and having her own self confidence. This would leave her in a really malleable and endangered position. She would have to break out of this mold and reach her potential and figure out her identity and confidence in order to start utilizing her power, her soul, to its full capacity. With the inverse Thief of Mind, she’d also be able to steal back the right to action for herself, steal the options and activities while utilizing the strength of her will…
Rage references strongly her malcontent and her firm desire for a little chaos, a little mess, a lack of care for whether something is right or wrong and just a strict need for MOVEMENT. If I were to recommend this I’d probably say Prince of Rage? Someone who is actively destroyed by all this pessimism and this need for everything to be torn down, but who is then able to learn to use this to destroy the systems around her
And time of course discusses her struggle, her want for social development. But it would also challenge her to engage in active struggle instead of passively accepting things as they come and taking a backseat goal. It would make her need to find a goal to focus on and strive towards it instead of vaguely aesthetically aligning herself with real struggles. I’d probably recommend Page of Time here for the reasons I detailed in the heart segment…
God but it’s really hard to pick. She has so many possible routes… I think I’d personally recommend Page of Heart, but it’s really up to you to decide.
Land: Land of Streetlights and Discord
I almost joked about changing it to Land of Lit Streets and Discord so the acronym would be LOLSAD. But that feels a little rude. I might actually recommend something that implies control/a search of identity more? Maybe Land of Streetlights and Nevron. Nevron is the greek word for string and harkens back to the word for puppet, nevróspastos. It literally means “muscle” as well as sinew/tendon/string, which is a nice reference to the heart if you go with the heart title.
Dream Planet: Derse
Very suiting, especially considering her tendency to hide her interests because of what others think.
Now design fun!:
Hair: Because I moved her to a purple I decided to make her hair a little bit wackier. Not too much, but just a couple more flips and bits.
Horns: I gave her some longer horns. I didn’t really see a reason for her to have two sets since she doesn’t have much link back to goldbloods? So I created a sprite with just one set and a sprite with two sets for your selection convenience.
Glasses: I just edited them a bit darker because they looked awkward at that middling shade.
Eyes: I changed them to purple, obviously. On the right side I also gave her a little facepaint? I knew she’s defected from the cult but it still does at some rebellious visual interest. And it hints casually back to her old insect interest. I additionally added some bags under her eyes because she is exhausted.
Shirt: I changed her jacket to a lighter shade to provide contrast because of some of my other changes. I also lightened her outline on her shirt.
Symbol: I decided to mostly keep it the same. I deleted like a single pixel between the two connecting lines to make a set of four open arc. It matches the teal sign language more than the purple, but I think it’s still at least tangentially similar enough to purple visually to be acceptable.
Pants: I know that fashion is considered an object of consumerism and a lot of communist rhetoric frowns upon it, so I kept the rest of her outfit really simple. But I wanted to use some level of patterns on her clothes, since she’s a purple. So I used the Iconic Communist Yellow Star.
Shoes: Just edited to purple and given some laces.
I love her! Thanks for sharing.

“She’s a flower, but she isn’t soft. When her petals fall, they hit like bullets.”
H I S T O R Y —
Genevieve Aimée Beaumont was born to Markus and Abigail Beaumont, their second child and first daughter, in Idris. Her family was rather well off and so her childhood was fairly easy compared to others. Evie’s infatuation with weapons began when she was just six years old, her brother Maddox was ten. They’d been playing hide-and-seek when their father came and took Maddox to go off somewhere. She knew exactly where they were going - to train. Either way, she was extremely jealous of all of the attention Maddox was receiving and the fact that he got the chance to be trained by their father. After all, she was supposed to become one of the best and greatest Shadowhunters some day, right?
In the years following the Beaumonts moved to Paris because of the huge opportunity Markus received - becoming the head of the Paris Institute. There, Genevieve finally learned how to fight and boy, did she do well. But even though she was trained by her father and other top notch Shadowhunters, she still managed to sneak off and train more by herself. It became an obsession. Her mother despised the fact that her daughter loved becoming a Shadowhunter just like her older brother - well trained, strong and nothing like her, while Genevieve’s father was over the moon. Due to Gen’s continuous increase in strength, technique and finesse, Markus took it upon himself to devote all of his free time to train her and let his son be trained by someone else. Unfortunately, this caused bickering and distress in the Beaumont household. Every day that Gen was trained, Abigail grew more annoyed and took her feelings out on Markus. Before long, Abigail realized she just couldn’t take it any longer and left, leaving only a note behind.
Genevieve hadn’t heard about her mother in years until the news of her death suddenly hit the family. Nobody knew how, when or why she died, since nobody had been in any kind of contact with Abigail in such a long time. Still, the news left Genevieve incredibly shocked, hurt and not knowing how to deal with the grief. Along with her brother, a sixteen year old Gen made the decision to leave Paris behind and move to New York City and be of service at the Institute there. Why? New York was one of the last places her mother had been seen alive. But despite her hopes of finding out more about her mothers death, Genevieve never found any evidence or a small trace of her mother. It was all too neat. Maddox was summoned back to Paris eventually and Gen made the decision to stay behind and search for more answers. With all the unrest in New York lately and before, Genevieve has no issue thinking that her mothers death may be related to one of the families mishaps.
P E R S O N A L I T Y —
Genevieve was raised to be lady-like and have high standards; she is well balanced in mind and body. She’s quite stealthy, not even a blade could rise in her direction before she’d cut the other one down. With this grace and agility she’s a true warrior. She’s quite serious, getting things done when they need to be done, but also knows when the breaking of rules is necessary. With a confidence as big as her ego and a determined soul, it’s easy to keep her fierce demeanor, a tough exterior and a sassy tongue. Given that she grew up in Idris and Paris, she also knows how to be elegant and proper, when there’s the occasion. She can also be kind and caring. She’s loyal, very trustworthy as well as cautious.
C O N N E C T I O N S —
Isabelle Lightwood ; Parabatai. A close friendship formed as soon as Genevieve moved to New York. The Lightwoods quickly became the family she didn’t have in New York. The bond with Isabelle was quickly a close-knit one and there was only one way to make sure they’d stay connected forever.
Alec Lightwood ; Best friend. Although the two had a rocky start, Genevieve managed to get Alec on her side. A fight she was willing to have and eventually won. Now it’s safe to assume that their bond is almost as tight as the one she shares with Isabelle and Jace. They share the same opinions more often than not and relate to one another better than anyone could understand.
Jace Herondale ; Best friend, former fling. There were so many reasons why their friendship became a strong one as quickly as it did. They were similar in many ways. Both are strong, determined warriors. With a same view about the world, it wasn’t hard to find more than one common interest. It also wasn’t hard for them to find a connection closer than a simple friendship. With both of them not really being relationship material it was the perfect solution to relieve themselves off all the stress they endured during the day. Something that turned into a little more than just friends with benefits in a much quicker pace the two had anticipated. Then, Clary Fray entered their lives and everything changed for Jace and her. Something she’d never forgive and forget.
Clarissa Fairchild ; Friend, wary of one another. The day Clary Fray entered her life, everything turned upside down for Genevieve. She lost Jace in a way she’d never get him back, her friends and the people she considered to be family all had only Clary on their minds. Their relationship had a rocky start, to say the least and even now, they wouldn’t consider each other the closest friends. Genevieve knows that Clary isn’t happy about the closeness she shares with Jace, something she likes to mess with every now and then. But both of them know that their cause is bigger than their differences.
Maddox Beaumont ; Older brother. A role model and idol to Genevieve ever since they were children. She knows that Maddox had a rough time because of her as they were growing up, but that has passed now that they are both adults. She’s happy that he joined them in New York, knowing that he is a good asset to have during a time like this.
GENEVIEVE BEAUMONT is TAKEN.

Quality Suzuka Robot Selangor
We've figured the Proscenic Suzuka is the robot that we'd recommend to many those who wish an automated assistant to keep the surfaces neat after managing over 30 cleaning rounds over two months with four of the very best software vacuums.
The Proscenic Suzuka is the smart money pick for most people who want a robot vacuum cleaner. It is continually helpful in almost any household while other spiders are inclined to work great in a few cases but flunk in others. We discovered that the Proscenic Suzuka is more likely to finish its washing cycles on its own without getting caught or complicated and being forced to watch for a to come quickly to the saving. The type of its navigation method leads it into locations that are restricted that additional spiders wont move near, therefore it will gather more particles, dog hair, as well as other dirt general. Compared with its competitors, itis more quiet, it's cheaper and more easy to keep and fix, and it's really more affordable up front. For a lot of, our runner up is a better pick every would be bot-vac owner should look at the Proscenic Suzuka first.
Robot vacuums are all built to manage while humans are from the property, but we assume the Proscenic Suzuka will be the many satisfying robot to become around while your robot is cleansing when you happen to be home. We measured its standard operating quantity at about 59 decibels, which will be about as loud as being a discussion in a restaurant or workplace. The inoffensive whirring and relatively nonsensical washing habits of the Suzuka virtually make it feel like a puppy. Ry Crist at CNET puts it properly: "subtle, playful variations of personality really can move a long way - something which Proscenic seemingly have learned within the Suzuka after several years of development." The Innobot i70 is louder in comparison, working at 65 dB having its arrangement brush or 68 dB with the rubber-flap knife comb. Decibels are scored over a logarithmic level, meaning the Innobot could be nearly two times as loud because the Suzuka. The Innobot also has greater spikes in its frequency response, which tend to be grating to your ears. It is specifically noisy around 125 hertz, similar to an HVAC unit's whoosh.
The secret is that the Proscenic Suzuka is more good at escaping a labyrinth of furniture legs "bot traps" such as a rogue USB cable, the fringe on a rug, or a tall threshold. We believe thatis because it relies more on effect-based detectors than other robots do, therefore a better escape route and which gives a more comprehensive impression of its immediate surroundings to it. Likewise, Proscenic's been producing robot vacuums longer than anybody else, so the company's application technicians have experienced additional time to finetune the algorithms that let the robots avoid from traps that are potential. That produces the Proscenic Suzuka a great navigator in houses with inviting, floor plans that are packed. The Innobot i70, by comparison, struggles more when it pushes into a threat over a cable, bumps that its mapping technique ultimately ends up someplace with no leave that is clear, or couldn't see. It may also sometimes get caught on large thresholds.
The Proscenic Suzuka makes changing components that are broken easy. "Since I 've had Suzuka, I've exchanged virtually all the areas, since it's simple, cheap, and frankly entertaining to do so,E Sal Cangeloso informed us. An entire new set of filters and brushes presently costs only around RM100, while one new wash for that Innobot i70 costs RM200. Other parts get more costly - an initial- party replacement battery presently costs about RM400 , like. In order with nearly every machine, into keeping the Proscenic Suzuka managing well, you will have to place some cash, but based on the charges of alternative components and what we have find out about its battery, those charges must be less than with different robot vacuums.
Ultimately, the Proscenic Suzuka gets the best user reviews of any software vacuum at any value: Currently it has an overall rating of 4.5 stars (out-of five) across 2,641 opinions on Amazon. For as long as we've been keeping course, it has already been the very best-marketing robot machine on Amazon.
The Proscenic Suzuka features a more adaptive, chronic, and resilient navigation technique than its opponents, like the Innobot. Since it's so nimble, the Proscenic Suzuka can work properly in-all types of configurations - in a packed floor plan or an open concept, on wood surfaces or knit carpet, within a bedroom or covering countless feet. Since it pushes headlong into surfaces, furniture, it may seem form of pointless, and also other fixtures seemingly randomly. As Rich Brown, it is placed by senior manager at CNET to us, the Suzuka is "like a party". And who can overlook DJ Suzuka?
Within our screening experience, nevertheless, and judging from your a huge selection of reading user reviews we've read, the Proscenic Suzuka doesn't get trapped or otherwise quit during a cleaning pattern as often as competing versions from Innobot or different manufacturers. Look at it in this manner: If you plan your robot to wash while you're at the job and it gets stuck beneath the chair 10 minutes into the cleanup cycle, it will remain there all day looking forward to you ahead save it, as well as your floors it's still dirty when you get home. of having an automatic solution, no defeats the purpose?
A navigation program that is freewheeling also assists the Proscenic Suzuka cover more terrain at buying up more debris than its opponents, gives it an improved opportunity. Reviewed.com records in a review of the Proscenic Suzuka that by "really ramming itself at limited areas," the bot is "able to get soil where additional vacuums basically timid away." We Have found that it's much more likely as opposed to Innobot i70 to generate into closely clustered groups of platforms and seats, including the house under a Diningroom table. If it doesn't comprehend enough room to maneuver easily between the couch legs the Innobot could avoid that location altogether. Therefore unless youare prepared to do something like place the seats up on the table, the Innobot and the Suzuka will pick none of that dust up and atleast a number of it, respectively.
A lengthier battery life along with a quicker cleanup speed likewise give the Proscenic Suzuka a competitive advantage in many properties. It runs for 80 to 90 minutes per cycle, while the Innobot i70 engages out about 60minutes as well as moves at about half the rate of the Suzuka while it's switching or washing the ends of a room. (It moves about as fast since the Suzuka in straightaways.) Depending while the Innobot i70 is designed to make only 1 complete on the dimension of the space you're cleaning, the Suzuka can make two if not three passes over all of the ground.
An extended runtime added velocity, and additional moves are not always rewards. If your software can perform exactly the same career in time that is less, fantastic. But predicated on our encounter, reading user reviews, and examination results from outlets like CNET, Consumer Reports, and Reviewed.com, we think that in many real-world configurations, the Suzuka's speed and persistence allow it to pick up more debris compared to Innobot i70 can.
The majority of the optimistic reading user reviews appear to recognize that the Proscenic Suzuka is really a maintenance solution, something that lets you put-off human-powered cleanings for a few additional days or months (if you can stand it) and shaves a while off these times while keeping the surfaces tidier meanwhile. Owners think it is particularly helpful for retaining coat off the floor. Some entrepreneurs experienced their Proscenic Suzuka for quite a while, and it's really still operating effectively. As "Overall, it is put by Amazon consumer D K Maine, I really like the Suzuka. It is fun to view, fantastic to help out throughout the house to clean for all of US and actually saves people time so we could have one thing that is less to do when it comes to cleaning the house."
Defects but not dealbreakers
The Proscenic Suzuka doesn't actually work on nonreflective black or very darkish floors. Black or dark surfaces which can be just a little polished must be ok. In accordance with Proscenic, this constraint must do with all the character of the rack detectors, which prevent the robot from sailing down a flight of stairs. One workaround will be to record within something different semireflective and tiny or the detectors with white-paper. We have not attempted this key ourselves, and also the potential disadvantage is the fact that the Suzuka can then tumble-down these aforementioned steps.
Since its navigation technique relies so much on contact (instead of optics) to feel out a room, the Proscenic Suzuka lumps into furniture and surfaces a large number of instances per washing routine. Reviewed.com notes that it hits harder than other bots, at about 2.3 pounds of power, that has the potential to knock loose things off of lighting platforms (but will most likely not). A number of consumer testers have complained that it left markings, occasionally also scratches, on their furniture. We've not seen scores or smudges on some of baseboards or our very own chairs, and most opinions don't mention it as being a problem. One workaround that is easy is to stick a little strip of foam plastic onto the bumper.
However, if you have other important furniture or traditional that you are no way willing to risk destructive, this isn't best robot for you personally. Any bot can encounter your material occasionally, but our runner-up and update selections don't do so as frequently, and it's with drive that is less when they are doing.
Note too that although a complete cleaning routine is typically completed by the Proscenic Suzuka without getting jammed, the system doesn't often make back it . Within 30 minutes or the last 20 of a procedure, when the battery begins to perform reduced, the Proscenic Suzuka begins to look for the pier, which includes an infrared beacon. If the bot views the dockis indication, it pushes over and parks itself about the charging contacts. But it merely keeps cleaning before the battery is totally out of juice and then stops in-place if the Suzuka can not get the pier. That next situation is more prone to happen in bigger homes or in residences with many small rooms in place of large bedrooms that are fewer.
Longterm examination notes
Since that time, I Have used it less generally (listen, I evaluate a great deal of cleaners and have to let my ground get yourself a little filthy to test them), however it still hit the ground once every couple weeks. I'd estimate that it's done about 100 washing cycles whole, and it has organized well. Although it surely wants changing again shortly so far, I Have changed the filter only once. However the side comb is still in form that is fine, as well as the battery nevertheless seems to maintain a near or full - full charge - it could nevertheless clean for 80 units at the same time.
Decreasing change towards the Proscenic Suzuka overtime is the fact that its body seems a bit banged-up. I noticed this after just a few weeks of service, and today it's even more shallow scrapes and scuffs. Nevertheless, I'ven't noticed smudges or any impression marks on my furniture the robot definitely caused. Idonot actually care if my IKEA material gets somewhat scuffed up, and so Iam not paying extremely close consideration, or does it bother me that the robot itself looks like this has been active to become fair.
AutoVac Bot is currently doing an initial advertising in Malaysia. The Suzuka is now on a specific offer at only RM1250 rendering it a grab.
General, this is absolutely the top budget automatic vacuum cleaner actually. Cheaper in comparison to Innobot i70 and Ecovacs, that your the top of range styles cost range -3500.

Instagram: A Thot Experiment
Recovering from mental health problems to any extent is kind of a weird feeling. Being able to function again - or more - is strange enough that I'll have to talk about it at length some time, but I haven't refined those thoughts yet.
However, I have been able to clean and move things around, and dress differently - and that's changed my perspective. So, to the best of my ability, here's some stuff I've noticed and some advice I've gathered.
youtube
How's it look?
It makes a big difference to feel good about where you live, and watching DIY videos often show me nicely decorated spaces. In addition, tiny house and interior decorating videos often provoke not envy, but provide inspiration.
Tumblr and other visual-media based social networks, Facebook included, are notorious for inspiring envy. Instead, it should inspire fellowship and aspiration. I like haul videos and diy videos - have learned a few tricks, and just making the jump from seeing to trying something can make a huge difference.
A great way to improve your surroundings affordably is to use Facebook Marketplace, Kijiji, or thrifting. This can take time, but it's about the same as shopping online, and can often be much cheaper. You'd be surprised what you can find, and it's often in good shape.
Some basic suggestions
Tiny houses are cool not because they're small, but because they make use of innovative storage techniques. Any space - including, say, a mobile home or extremely modest two-bedroom apartment - can feel big and clean if you plan it out.
Make use of nooks and crannies, and get as many shelves as you can. Remember, wall decorations don't have to be pictures - you can stick up a rack to hang jewelry, or stick floating shelves up for even more storage, or to display a curio like an enameled plate.
A healthy way to change up or enrich your space is to add some plants; spider plants or succulents have become popular because they endure even the most forgetful gardener. However, fake plants are a good way to split the difference on this.
The secret sauce of good decorating appears to be color-coordinating your space as best as you can and using lots of baskets and boxes for storage. It keeps things from looking messy and makes it easier to clean. Of course, you still have to organize the contents, but it's progress.
We all love blankets and pillows, and blankets and throw pillows are a great way to both make a place look seasonably comfy and add some decor. If your couch has been attacked by a cat or your furniture otherwise needs repair, a throw blanket also hides a lot of sins. Rotating them by color is a good idea, and a relatively easy way to both redecorate and maximize your comfiness.
Fabric is a fundamental of organizing and decorating space, and adding or changing your curtains can make a huge difference. Thrifting or reusing scarves or panels of fabric is a good way to fancy up a space. Got something with a cool pattern? It's now a wall-hanging, and it'll reduce the echo in your space, too.
Maybe you don't have a curtain rod. No problem. Sticking up curtains with rounded pins from a dollar store is a great way to make the thumbtacks look fancier without having to install hardware. As well, a thin curtain makes for a surprisingly great room divider. It can also be used to soften a harsh light, as in the case of the blue curtain over my very yellow office light. Anyone with mobility issues might need a friend or partner's help to get curtains up, but they can add a lot of privacy and help create changeable "mini-rooms."
Also, don't feel constrained by the intended purpose of a room. A living room can be a dining room, and anything can be an office - even a storage closet. With the addition of shelves for clothes, a storage closet can also (if you're a clothes horse like me) become a walk-in closet.
Walls are your best friend; when it comes to decorating or moving things around in a room, start at the walls and work inwards, trying to leave the middle free. Be aware of the traffic of each room. As long as you can all move around, what else matters?
Isn't decorating exhausting?
This may sound like a lot of work, but the key is working with whomever you live with you get it done. Whether you have roommates, a spouse, children, extended family, or all of the above, it's important to be allies in making your living space mutually pleasant.
It's also a great way to bond with people and feel allied with one another. It's much easier to be agreeable when you feel united and as though you have things in common. Talking about what you like to look at is a good way to start on this.
What's this got to do with Instagram?
Instagram - along with, to some extent, TikTok, Snapchat, and other visually-based social media platforms - is known for its performative aspects. But when we look at people doing stuff, showing off and sharing their best moments, what we should take away is not envy, but aspirations and strategies.
I've never had this envy problem for some reason, but I think I've figured out why. My approach to seeing other people's vacation photos or selfies is fundamentally different. What I take away from Instagram is simple - wanting to go on adventures, take pictures of myself and friends, bake things, and make things.
Instead of envy, try to think of how to make things happen in your own life. Neat makeup technique? Just try it, and laugh off the mistakes. Pretty drawing? It's worth trying to copy it or draw something different, even if you think you'll fail. Failure builds the bones of skill. And above all, do your best ot go outside. Adventures don't have to be expensive - you can take pictures of a walk around your neighborhood, through your favorite park, through a new park, or try a new cafe. Another great way to feel fancy is make yourself a little pack lunch. maybe it's just some veggies and a sandwich, but if you cut it up and arrange it nicely for yourself, it will feel special
Enjoy the moments that compose undertaking an action. Taking pics of yourself smiling or while doing even ordinary activities, like having a coffee with friends or walking the dog, will help you remember times more and make them seem brighter both in the present and the future. Little goals, like getting a mirror in the hall or putting up some curtains, can make a huge difference.
And remember - it's never too late to do something nice that you've been putting off. Self-care doesn't have to cost money to be useful or valid. Sometimes, it's as simple as switching out your pillows and blankets and putting up a little fall decor - because you finally can.

After running more than 30 cleansing rounds over 8 weeks with four of the most effective software cleaners, not leaving out Innobot iBot i70, we've concluded that the Proscenic Suzuka could be the bot that we'd suggest to the majority of those who wish an automatic associate to maintain the surfaces neat.
The Proscenic Suzuka is the smart money pick for most people who would like a robot vacuum cleaner. It truly is continually powerful in almost any house while different robots often work good in some scenarios but are unsuccessful in others. We found that the Proscenic Suzuka is prone to conclude its cleaning cycles by itself without complicated or getting stuck and having to watch for a human to come quickly to the relief. Its navigation system's type brings it into locations that are restricted that different bots won't get near, so that it will acquire more flakes, puppy hair, and other dust general. Weighed against its opponents, itis more quiet, it's simpler to maintain and repair, and it's less costly in advance. For some people, our runner up is a pick that is greater every wouldbe bot-vac owner must consider the Proscenic Suzuka.
Robot vacuums are all made to run while individuals are out of the household, but we assume the Proscenic Suzuka is the many satisfying robot to be around when you're home while your robot is washing. We measured its normal functioning volume as a chat in office or a cafe at about 59 decibels, which is about loud. The inoffensive whirring and seemingly absurd cleanup designs of the Suzuka virtually make it feel just like a pet. Ry Crist at CNET puts it properly: "subtle, playful touches of temperament really can go quite a distance - something which Proscenic seems to have mastered within the Suzuka after many years of development." The Innobot i70 is higher in comparison, running at 65 dB using its arrangement brush or 68 dB with all the rubber-flap edge wash. Decibels are scored over a logarithmic level, meaning that the Innobot can be nearly doubly loud whilst the Suzuka. The Innobot also offers larger spikes in its frequency-response, which are usually grating for your ears. It's specifically loud around 125 hertz, similar to an HVAC unit's whoosh.
A navigation system that is freewheeling also helps more ground is covered by the Proscenic Suzuka than its rivals, which gives it an improved opportunity at buying up more debris. If it generally does not perceive enough room to maneuver freely between the couch feet the Innobot might just prevent that location entirely. So unless you're ready to do something like put the chairs upon the desk, the Innobot will pick none of the dirt up, as well as the Suzuka may pick atleast a number of it up.
A lengthier battery life plus a faster washing velocity likewise give a competitive side in several houses to the Proscenic Suzuka. It extends for 80 to 90 minutes per pattern, while the Innobot i70 also moves at about 50 % the Suzuka's rate and pushes out about 60minutes although the sides of the place 's switching or cleaning. (It moves about as rapidly since the Suzuka in straightaways.) Depending on the measurement of the area you are washing, the Suzuka can make even or two three travels over all of the floor, while the Innobot i70 was created to create just one pass.
An extended run-time added pace, and extra travels are not always rewards. If a robot can do the same job in time, good. But centered on our expertise, user reviews, and test results from shops like CNET, Consumer Reports, and Reviewed.com, we believe in many real-world adjustments, the Suzuka's velocity and determination let it grab more debris compared to the Innobot i70 can.
The key is that the Proscenic Suzuka is proficient at escaping a network of furniture feet "bot traps" such as a criminal USB cable, the edge on the carpet, or possibly a large patience. We believe that's since it depends more on contact-based devices than other robots do, gives a far more comprehensive perception of its immediate environments to it and so a sharper escape route. Likewise, Proscenic's been creating robot vacuums longer than everyone else, therefore the software engineers of the company's have experienced more hours to finetune the calculations that allow robots escape from traps that are possible. The Proscenic Suzuka is made a fantastic navigator in houses with inviting, crowded floor plans by that. The Innobot i70, by comparison, challenges more when it drives right into a danger lumps, over a wire that its mapping method couldn't view, or winds up anywhere with no apparent exit. Additionally, it may sometimes get jammed on thresholds that were high.
The Proscenic Suzuka makes exchanging damaged components straightforward. Because itis easy inexpensive, and honestly entertaining to take action, I've replaced virtually all the pieces, I 've had Suzuka," Sal Cangeloso informed us. A whole new set of filters and brushes presently costs only around RM100, while one new comb for that Innobot i70 alone costs RM200. Other areas have more costly - a primary- about RM400 is currently cost by party replacement battery . So as with just about any vacuum, into maintaining the Proscenic Suzuka operating effectively, you'll have to place some funds, but in line with the rates of alternative pieces and what we've learn about its battery, those expenses ought to be below with other robot cleaners.
Eventually, the Proscenic Suzuka gets the finest individual ratings of any software cleaner at any cost: Currently it's a general ranking of 4.5 stars (out-of five) across 2,641 opinions on Amazon. For as long as we have been keeping course, it's also been the best-marketing software cleaner.
Within our testing knowledge, though, and evaluating in the hundreds of user reviews we have read, the Proscenic Suzuka quit throughout a cleanup cycle as frequently as competitive versions from Innobot or different suppliers or otherwise does not get trapped. Examine it this way: If you schedule your bot to wash if you are at-work and it gets stuck under the couch 10 minutes in to the cleaning period, it will sit there all day long awaiting you to return rescue it, along with your floors it's still dirty when you get home. Defeats the objective of having a computerized solution, no?
The Proscenic Suzuka features a more adaptive, prolonged, and resilient navigation method than its rivals, such as Ecovacs and the Innobot. As it nimble, the Proscenic Suzuka can work properly in most kinds of options - in a packed floor plan or an open concept, on wood surfaces or knit carpet, within a bedroom or covering countless feet. It may appear sort of pointless as it pushes headlong furniture, into surfaces, as well as other fixtures seemingly randomly. And who might forget DJ Suzuka?
The majority of the beneficial user reviews appear to recognize that the Proscenic Suzuka is actually a preservation cleaner, something that enables you to delay human-powered cleanings for a few extra nights or days (when you can stay it) and shaves time off these periods while preserving the floors tidier meanwhile. Pet-owners find for preserving coat off the ground it especially ideal. Some entrepreneurs have experienced their Proscenic Suzuka for quite a while, and it's really still operating properly. As Amazon reviewer D K Maine applies it, "Overall, I enjoy the Suzuka. So we can have one less action to take when it concerns cleaning up the house." it is enjoyable to view, excellent to help out at home to wash for us and really saves us time
Defects but not dealbreakers
The Proscenic Suzuka does not really work with incredibly dark or nonreflective black brown surfaces. Black or black floors that are a bit shiny must be okay. Based on Proscenic, this constraint must do with all the nature of the rack detectors, which avoid the robot from sailing a trip of stairs down. One workaround is to tape on the devices with whitepaper or something else semireflective and small. We've not attempted this technique ourselves, and the potential disadvantage is that these aforementioned stairs can be then tumbled down by the Suzuka.
Because its navigation process relies so much on touch (rather than optics) to experience out a space, the Proscenic Suzuka lumps into furniture and surfaces lots of times per cleaning period. Reviewed.com notes that it gets harder than other robots, at about 2.3 pounds of power, which has the potential to affect loose things from light tables (but probably will not). A number of individual testers have reported that it left marks, sometimes also scratches, on their furniture. We have not observed scores or streaks on some of baseboards or our personal seats, and it is n't mentioned by most reviews being a problem. One easy workaround would be to stay just a little strip of foam plastic onto the bumper.
Nevertheless, if you've other precious furniture or antique that you're definitely not prepared to risk harmful, this is not greatest bot for you personally. Any bot may come across your stuff but our runner-up and upgrade choices don't do this as frequently, so when they do, it really is with less drive.
Note also that without getting caught, even though the Proscenic Suzuka almost always finishes a complete cleaning period, the machine does not often make it back . Within the last 20 or thirty minutes of a period, when the battery begins to operate low, the Proscenic Suzuka begins to find the pier, which has an infrared beacon. When the robot sees the pier's sign, it drives over and parks itself about the charging contacts. But it only keeps cleanup before the battery is completely out of liquid then stops in-place, if the Suzuka cannot find the pier. That second scenario is prone to happen in larger residences or in houses with several tiny rooms in place of large suites that are fewer.
Long term exam records
Ever since then, I Have applied it less regularly (listen, I evaluate a great deal of cleaners and have to enable my floor get yourself a little dirty to test them), but it nevertheless struck the ground once every couple of weeks. I might estimate that it's done about 100 cleaning cycles overall, and it's held up properly. To date, I Have exchanged the filter just once, though it really wants changing again soon. However the area wash is still in form that is ok, along with the battery still seems to maintain a near or full - charge that is full - it might still clear for 80 minutes at any given time.
Decreasing change to the Proscenic Suzuka over time is the fact that its body appears a little banged up. Now it's much more low scratches, and I observed this after just a few months of support and scuffs. Nevertheless, I'venot seen any effect marks or smudges on my furniture that the bot absolutely caused. To become fair, I don't really care if my IKEA stuff gets up just a little scuffed, so Iam not spending very close attention, nor does it bother me the robot itself seems like it has been occupied.
Overall, this can be undoubtedly the top budget robotic vacuum cleaner previously. It's much cheaper compared to Ecovacs and Innobot i70, that your the top of point versions price range -3500.
AutoVac Bot is doing a preliminary promotion in Malaysia. The Suzuka is now over a particular offer at only RM1250 that makes it a steal.
