Hey, remember that amazing continuous-cables technique? I had an idea for a thing to do with it, and spent two days knitting swatches and fiddling with charts. On the third day I ached all over and had a slight fever, so either I'd been coming down with something or I'd been divinely inspired.

After a couple of days of recovery, I looked at my swatch and realized it needed its obvious counterpart, so then I spent another week designing an even worse chart. It didn't need the continuous-loop grafting, at least. It just used a lot of weird non-standard cables.

So now I have these:

The motifs are both 52 rows high, and they both start and end with 19 stitches. The stitch counts change a lot in the middle, though. I have a few things I want to tweak and refine in the charts, and then I don't know what to do with them. I despair at the thought of ever writing any kind of usable instructions for them, or even annotating the charts so anyone other than myself can read them.

It could be done, of course. I just don't want to spend the amount of time it would take, unless somebody was willing to offer me piles of money, or really interesting bribes.

ETA okay I'm working on cleaning up the charts! Not sure how long it's going to take. Watch this space for further announcements.

I don't think I have made a post on here before despite having an account for a long time (just for lurking). I'm not really sure how it works but I will try!

I'm a bit happy with this little angel and I thought he might make other people happy too! He seems a lonely but I might have a friend up my sleeve (or on my needles) so hopefully not for much longer 🤗

Hi! I once read a fic that I want to revisit but I can't find it. I remember that Aziraphale's favorite yarn shop was closed and while looking for a new place, he found himself in Crowley's shop. Crowley mistook him for a novice knitter (and Aziraphale was a crocheter) and invited him to a workshop. Later, Crowley found out that Aziraphale could crochet because he helped Anathema read Agnes's writing on the blanket. I would be grateful for help!!

It is a truth universally acknowledged among crocheters that this is annoying as hell. In his many years crocheting, Aziraphale has never been one to let that assumption stand. But faced with an opportunity to join a knitting group run by a very sweet new shop owner, he decides to play along. Even if it means he has to pretend he wants to learn how to knit. Even if it means he has to hide his skill with a crochet hook. It’ll be worth it to get to know Crowley better. Probably. Hopefully. (It will.)

I think I made a knitting mistake on the upper right swoop somewhere, but that's a problem for future haemey. Present haemey needs to go to bed.

I'm going to have to think about what I want to do for the body of the scarf, soon. Should I just continue the black-and-red stripes? Should I make a different colour pattern? Since I bought the yarn when this project was supposed to be two-colour brioche shawl, I have an equal amount of red and black, three balls each. At this point, I've used up I think about half to two-thirds of a ball of each? I definitely have enough to make a nice, long scarf.

I'm open for ideas! I kinda don't want to just continue knitting stripes (I'm not emo enough to pull that off, also it kinda hurts my eyes to look at 😅), but I also don't want to switch to something that's going to look weird next to them. Maybe just wider stripes, then?

And I think I'm going to start designing the pattern for the other end, soon. I really think I'm going to go with the hourglass, but maybe black on red this time? Should be able to make it about the same size as snekkie.

Idk if I’m going to sell any of these yet, because they take a long time to make and would be priced accordingly but we’ll see ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Good Omens Cosplay

Furfur's scarf / cravat

A knitting pattern

In the original costume pictures, Reece very kindly shared, Furfur's scarf is made out of a strip of distressed fabric.

In the final shots of the series, probably due to the colour grading, it looks a lot darker and more like a seed stitch knitted scarf. It inspired me to knit one for myself.

Maybe it's useful for your cosplay or for some everyday Furfur bounding.

You need:

Yarn: 1x Scheepjes Metropolis in the colour Depok approximately £7,-

Or any 50gr / 200m skein of fingering weight yarn.

Knitting Needles: 2.75mm / US 2

Pattern:

Cast on 23 stitches

Row 1 - Row 8: Knit all stitches

Row 9 - repeat until desired length: Knit 1 Purl 1 until the end of the row (seed stitch) always starting and ending with a knit stitch.

Knit all stitches of the last 8 rows, bind off and weave in the ends.

You need to be able to wrap the scarf around your neck and knot it in the front twice + extra length to tuck in. I made mine around 140cm / 55 inches

Give it a gentle soak in a wool wash and block evenly.

You can distress the fabric you created or leave it for a polished Earth look.

You're going to be in a Knit 1 Purl 1 Hell loop for a while, but it's totally worth it!

Put Depeche Mode on repeat and sing along, watch Good Omens again (and again) binge watch Inside No. 9 (because you definitely should)
