Joana Santos é Aurora, a nossa portuguesa perdida em Glasgow. Com uma atuação visceral, Joana leva-nos numa montanha-russa de emoções, da solidão mais profunda à esperança mais radiante. 

Inês Vaz é uma atriz versátil com uma carreira sólida e diversificada entre o teatro, cinema e televisão. Marcada pela busca constante de novos desafios artísticos, a sua Vera deve ter sido bastante desafiante de trabalhar. Surpreendeu-me, pela positiva.

Piotr Sikora mostra que é um camaleão da arte de representar. Comediante, e improvisador, salta da premiada comédia, “1670”, considerada a Melhor Série de Televisão de Ficção, para o grande ecrã  adaptando-se perfeitamente a este novo desafio. Kris, um dos inquilinos da casa onde vive Aurora. Piort prova que comediante também sabe ser dramático.

LAURA CARREIRA, a realizadora

Quem diria que uma portuguesa, perdida nas terras altas da Escócia, iria conquistar o mundo do cinema? Laura Carreira começou tímida, mas não demorou para se tornar uma das estrelas mais brilhantes do cinema independente. Desde que "Red Hill" (2018) acendeu a chama em Edimburgo, Laura não parou de nos surpreender. "The Shift" (2020) em Veneza e agora "On Falling". Laura prova que a Escócia não é só whisky e kilts. É também o berço de grandes talentos. "On Falling" será apenas o começo de uma longa e brilhante carreira?

Esta obra cinematográfica ganhou vários prémios, incluindo a  Silver Shell para Melhor Realizador no Festival de Cinema de San Sebastián e o prémio de Melhor Primeira Longa-Metragem no BFI London Film Festival.

É impossível não ficar indiferente ao belíssimo trabalho de Karl Kürten, o mago das luzes e das sombras que transformou On Falling numa experiência visual sedutora. Cada plano é uma obra de arte, cada cena, um convite a um mundo de glamour e mistério. 

Já agora, aproveitem e vejam  também “Kitz” mais um belíssimo trabalho de Kürten, disponível na Netflix e Prime Video, creio. Deliciem-se.

Now that the calendar is over I want to wrap things up with some thoughts and facts about of what have been and what is coming.

In this calendar I've written about 24 series that have meant something to me through my life. There are other series I might actually like more than some of them today, but they've all changed how I see things or how I feel about a certain subject. I started of with M*A*S*H, which will always be my all time favourite and which came into my life early. I ended with Julie and the Phantoms, which just recently came into my life and about which I still have a lot to learn. I stream A LOT of media, and mostly series, some weeks up to 40 hours. This because I usually have something on in the background, it makes me focus even better. I work from home about half the time and the TV is always on, on these days. But it's normaly rewatches and comfort series and I have a hard time starting new ones. So, to help with this, my goal for 2024 is to complete a list of series I want to watch, but haven't dealt with yet. I might not complete them all if I don't like them, but the goal is to start them all.
