been trying to figure out what exactly it is about aventurine that feels perhaps relatable, or what it is that makes me want to study him like a bug...
and camr to the thought that he's pretty pessimistic for am optimist...but also ob the other side of the same coin, he's optimiaric for a pessimist. kinda both at the same time,.or depending on the day or how you look at him maybe.
he's an optimist becuase he knows he's going to win. he always wins. he has always won his gambles. he knows it will happen again and again. his luck, or gift, or blessing, or whatever you want to call it ensures that. but he's also a pessimist becuase he knows that "win" also always comes with some kind of suffering for him. he wins all his gambles, but at what cost? a lot, actually. so is it really a win? he knows he will win, but he also knows he will be used, abused, sacrificed, broken, or in pain. he expects those to be a consequence of his winning luck, to the point of making sure it happens and becomes self-destructive because of it. he acts calmly like it's ok and is the outcome he wants and calls that a win because it's what he plans and expects. he bets on it and it happens.
but at the same time, he's slowly breaking and seems to want it to end. he tests the limits of his luck to see if it's a real "gift" or if it is all a coincidence and has an end. he probably wants to meet the end to end the pain and suffering, but knows his "luck" won't allow it. he wants to be against the luck and see if he can win. a whole contradiction it itself. his luck kept him alive so many times and continues to do so. it will always do so, unless perhaps his end is the goal. what if he bets on losing this time? bets in meeting his end? he needs to get lucky enough to achieve that goal. flip his lucky fate by turning his luck around, make his end the final lucky win.
but it seems like he either lost for once and didn't meet his end....maybe his luck truly does intend on keeping him alive...or he changed his mind in the end and got lucky enough to get out of meeting his end once again...
he's still a bit of an enigma to me and i'm not sure exactly what happened. but he's for sure a complex and amusing character (even if I still want to put him into a snow globe and shake it as hard as I can) and this whole penacony story is too complex for my soggy trashcan brain lmao but i'm enjoying the ride

MONTLY MFIP UPDATE
8/13 | Month 1 | Next Month
Hey hey hey folks! Been a while, I know but we’re here now! If you’re wondering “what the fuck is this” basically I decided to take notes from my bestie @yosajaeofficial and do monthly updates for MFIP the way they do em for their story JMC so it doesn’t look like I’m dead :D (BTW Please go check out the Jayce Myles Comics, it’s gonna be a rise comic and hasn’t debuted yet but Jae’s been working super hard on it and I guarantee if you guys like MFIP, then you’ll love the JMC too so give em a follow to stay updated~)
Anywhizzle, I know I don’t update often but truth be told, I don’t usually have much publishable material. Most of the MFIP related artwork I do are usually things I can’t reveal till future chapters. They’re lore-significant and would be kinda spoilerish if I posted them before the chapters are ready so womp womp on me. All the other art I do are either for different stories, sketches, or just not things I really wanna publish at least as their own posts. I do, however, wanna show I’m not speaking out my ass so I’mma show a few of em here actually :3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First one’s like one of my favorite things ever even if it’s pretty simple. I just wanted to explore Salena’s dynamics with some of the villains and sketch em out for funsies but only got as far as Meatsweats and Kendra. Still one of the funniest shit to me ESPECIALLY the random ass beef Salena and Meatsweats have. It came out of fucking nowhere but both have accepted it as just their dynamic now. Funfact, it wasn’t even planned; I accidentally made Meatsweats the villain for chapters 1 and 3 and decided “fuck it, the bond is funny” so now they’re mortal enemies for no reason other than pure coincidence💀✨
Tumblr media
Wanted to show this one because it’s cute and I love it. It’s one of my more recent sketches (hence the brush being changed) I did on a day I wasn’t really feeling too well and kinda craved Raph’s big-brother comfort. I might go in and actually finish this one ngl cuz it’s just really sweet to me
SPOILER!
Tumblr media
I also wanted to show a sneak peek at one of the chapter artworks that I mentioned earlier I cannot post yet. I’m not revealing any of the context or what chapter it’s from, but trust me y’all are in for a ride🤭✨✨✨
Alrighty, so that’s all I have for the art section. It’s not all though since I do wanna talk about the actual chapter progress itself in this next section
So, all y’all know the last chapter posted was chapter 9 and the one I’m working on currently is chapter 10. It’s got 19 pages so far in the docs but still kinda near the beginning. Chapter 9 was HUGE for me to write and I kinda think it’s the longest chapter I’ve written in general even including chapters from other stories I’ve written in the past so it really put me through a trip. I’m really happy and proud with how it turned out but it did burn me out a little so I’ve spent most of my summer break resting and regaining my energy. I’ve dabbled into other projects, other stories, AUs, etc. A lot of it was self-indulgent stuff which may still be posted on a separate account but it does mean I wasn’t progressing much with MFIP itself. I never abandoned it though or even properly stepped away from it tbh, it stayed in my mind and I kept having ideas that I added to my notes or just random brainrot I liked expanding on. It also gave me a chance to approach chapter 10 with a new lens cuz it had to be mentally reworked a few times to properly convey what I wanted it to. It’s still not fully figured out but it’s planned out in my head enough for me to ball it when writing the actual chapter itself as usual
I’ve also been working on some oneshots too! They’re kinda optional treats for anyone who wants to read em. They do have significance in the story but it’s not gonna leave you completely lost about the lore or anything if you choose not to read them. I’ll be posting at least the first one soon, I’m not sure yet cuz the order is indeed important for the timeline sake. But anywho, expect to see some of that as fun bonus content!
Now that the chapter update’s done, I did wanna talk more to you guys about writing and the story itself. I know I’ve become incredibly slow at updating the story but I do wanna reassure you guys that I still love MFIP and have a lot of passion for it, as well as working on it as hard as I can. The reason these chapters take longer is ironically because of that. I used to be able to pump out a chapter within a few weeks but those were the REALLY early days. My chapters grew to be much longer than I ever thought they’d be and they’re filled to the brim with important details and crucial moments that I can’t take out or rush without it feeling sloppy and lacking. The quality’s also increased thanks to my wonderful team editing the chapters for any typos or continuity errors and working on MFIP with as much passion as I am but that means they need to be given enough time to do their jobs properly. My love for MFIP is greater than it’s ever been and that’s saying something cuz I was quite obsessed since day one. But since there’s so much to do and I wanna be able to make the quality worthwhile, it takes me much longer to complete chapters. On top of that, there’s obviously life stuff going on too. I still have to focus on college and study for it, especially since I’m majoring in physics, and I have to take care of my mom a lot since she’s a breast cancer survivor (officially been a decade now🦾) so we got A LOOOOOOT of doctor appointments every month. It’s just our normal. I do wish there was a way I could work faster or increase the amount of hours in a day but hey, at least we’re all waiting together. I can promise you this much: if I ever decide to drop the story—which I believe is VERY HIGHLY UNLIKELY—I’ll be sure to let y’all know. I won’t ghost or randomly delete it out of nowhere someday. As far as I’m aware, I have full intent to keep this story going and keep communication clear between us :3
But yea, all in all, I think that’s all from me for this month’s update!
I hope this was a satisfying update to read (and to know the story ain’t abandoned—) and I hope next month I’ll have some cool things to show too. Maybe I’ll consider showing a written WIP next month? I’m not too sure since I usually like keeping my chapters a surprise till they’re fully done but I’ll consider it depending on how far the chapter is. For now though, I must bid y’all farewell! I’ll still be here to answer asks or do fun tag games and maybe post here and there if I have something. If ya made it this far, thank you for reading and enjoy the rest of your day everyone. Love ya guyssss🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

hi lovely love got a couple of questions abt nothing happens <3
so first, at what age does james realize he's in love with regulus?
abt sirius does he actually see james and regulus relationship as brotherly or is he just trying to convince himself of that bc the alternative is too messy to even think about?
in case he actually sees it at brotherly at what point does he go "yeah this two are in love with each other"?
by the end of it and, knowing how toxic they can be with each other and others is anyone actively supporting their relationship? if yes then who?
(if it isnt too spoilerish to tell ofc) byebyeee
hi darling!! and omg okay i love talking about nothing happens, so i'll answer to the best of my ability <3 and ofc only if it doesn't mean giving away spoilers <333
james realises he's in love with reg when he's in his 20s!!! yes, it takes him quite a while, nothing happens IS a slow burn in that way
sirius does see it as brotherly the first few years, even if there are certain behaviours of james he . is kinda wary of . like most of the time he believes james is being another overprotective older brother and that he's just a more affectionate person but he isn't dumb and he notices some things that make him go ?????
he's a bit in denial tho, bc even when it's undeniable that there's . something else going on . it looks too messy to get involved, and besides, james and reg look so happy.. sirius knows it's wrong but he thinks that as long as he doesn't actually Find Out, as long as he doesn't really See anything . then it's fine
he does end up knowing all about it and i think it's safe to say he is not happy. it's not a fun time for anyone tbh
and he goes "yeah this two are in love with each other" when reg turns 18 maybe??? he just . doesn't say anything about it for a while
and that last one is definitely a bit too spoilerish babe sorry </3 but i can tell u that . yeah some ppl are rooting for them but . many others aren't . you'll see!!

NSFW ASK
no spoilers for fellow travelers, just… very graphic expectations on what more sex scenes the future eps may have by a nonnie
under the cut bc nonnie has worded it so explicitly it made me raise my eyebrows (nothing bad though, nonnie you just caught me off guard but also impressed me honestly with how much you’ve thought about it😭)
thanks for the ask though, genuinely
Tumblr media Tumblr media
lord as i said i raised my eyebrows but yeah…
i am not sure how they will pull off a visible cum swallowing tbh😭 but who knows lmao
(spoilerish - i did think for a second when during the handjob scene that they would show his cum bc hawk literally spread it over tim’s chest and they were both looking at it😭😭 i kinda went OH MY GOD ARE THEY GONNA SHOW- but they didnt)
the reviews mentioned light bdsm so i am not sure it it’s gonna be too much but playing around with basic bondage acts could possibly count yeah.
69… hmm i am not sure maybe, and its hard to judge from the first ep but it looks like they aren’t relying on fanfic type of sex scenes but using v creative ways to show that power imbalance and i honestly love that
oh yeah the threesome gonna be with them and a third guy, i am more or less sure of that too, but there could be more than one sequence (in different positions or whatever the makers said about not repeating)
missionary must be there yeah, possibly for their last time? that would be cliched but also kinda sweet - though i am not sure if they knew that their last time was their last time
naur i’ll be honest - i am not too keen on the idea of full frontal nudity like😭 i know its gonna be prosthetic but still like i don’t really wanna see it, everything else is fine with me
but yeah as i said earlier, judging by the first ep the makers are relying on more than raw hard fucking to tell the story they wanna tell - they’re doing it through making hawk order tim to take off his trousers and fold them, the foot on chest and consequent sucking etc.
oomf also said a lot of the times the camera focused on their facial expressions more than their bodies and i love that

An excerpt from Frozen Flowers, because... I just fell in love with this tiny bit of dialogue and their bickering (that goes on from longer, but will only be published in the full chapter)
“Me? ME?! Well I’m not sure Kyle, which one of us decided to do a yolo solo round in the highest known part of the labyrinth?” Kenny was fuming. “I’ll help you. It wasn’t me!”
“Well, nobody asked you to pick me up. I could’ve handled it myself.” Kyle defended.

Can we just talk about the ending of KawoShin open discuss. *sort of spoilerish*
I feel like I’m the only one who’s like reallly disappointed LMFAO--ya’ll there’s so much “canon” alternative universe and merchandise for Kawoshin in Evangelion that it kind of makes me upset to realise this couple just went down the drain. Yeah, I can see how people were like, “Kaworu’s toxic” or “Kaworu has a hero complex for Shinji” to which I say are valid points. But the toxic thing I feel like can also be applied to pretty much everyone around Shinji tbh, except for Rei. I did NOT, like Asuka at all but I really love her character though, and I felt for her a lot throughout the series.
I did not ship them either because honestly, Shinji and Asuka seemed better off playing the sibling dynamic instead of trying to play bf/gf which honestly is kind of forced by their living situation. Also since they’re in a similar disposition non existent father and dead mother, you’d imagine they would rely on each other for emotional comfort. Though Asuka—her personality I feel like she can’t differentiate between familial love and romantic love and the affection she wants is a bit of both. But, her character tries to be “mature”; she wants romantic love more and does this through sexual means and romantic gestures e.g. like kissing. One of my friends told me that you can’t stay friends as a boy and a girl cause eventually you catch feelings. Which I say is kinda dumb cause I have a lot of male friends, and I definitely don’t harbour those feelings, but I guess it’s a common phenomena.
I think this is what happens in this case, of Asuka and Shinji. Even after rejection of instrumentality they actually are depicted as childhood friends. But knowing how they both were before to each other, it was not good tbh. Also to mention the choking like thrice— bro if anything, this showcases a really abusive relationship and I think this outstretches the idea of their character tropes. Which I firmly stand by saying they’re superficial to each other. AsuShin were never really there for each other and are using each other in a forced situation. However, you can’t deny that they didn’t at some point catch feels, also Shinji is pretty consistent how he still cares about everyone around him. Which I really like how they add that to his character because it reminiscent of Yui, because you see a duality of both his parents personality in Shinji throughout the series—it’s a really nice touch. But bruh, if we gonna talk about that coma scene—I’m out LOL.
Thoughhhh, she is a true definition of best girl I really like her arc, fighting drive, and her skills as an Eva pilot 😭💗--but bruh she’s still a toxic and sometimes annoying tsundere trope, but still she’s 14 what can you do. So I feel like Kensuke and Asuka are actually a pretty good combo, cause he’s always been pretty mature even without parents. Also Asuka was into older guys, so I guess this is a win win?? Also Rei and Shinji, I honestly cannot get my head around it cause that’s pretty much his mom—so in a way that’s like either his half-sister or mom-ish clone?? Idk but Yui is definitely the donor LOL.
Kaworu and Shinji I felt like brought a bunch of things out of each other. I don’t know which timeline begins first, but I’d like to think the manga, the anime (plus its movies), and then to the rebuild series. Because I think that order is kind of pivotal to observing Kaworu’s character development from being a person who’s trying to understand human feelings to then the kinder person we see in the final series. You can tell how he’s changed and he knows Shinji a lot more as well as being considerate to him e.g. giving him personal space or letting him work at his own pace. Also that “we’ll meet again.” Is an obvious nod to how he’s done this before.
His literal story in every timeline is always romantic LOL, like bruh I can’t remember which game it was but basically a bad ending of Kawoshin route is that you reject Kaworu and he starts the third impact 🤡. Also I don’t know why but I started to see a weird dynamic between those two, in the manga their interactions reminded me of Asuka and Shinji—which Shinji is the tsundere Asuka here. I don’t know if this is relevant but the older character relative to the character they’re with seems to play off a mature vs a childish person trope. Asuka is younger than Shinji and Shinji is actually younger than Kaworu. Then again I could be overseeing this but istg manga Kaworu and Shinji mirror the whole Asushin dynamic. Like he’s seriously agressive against Kaworu, then after killing him he admits liking him. 🤡 I don’t know which is funnier no homo Shinji, homophobe shinji, or just closet Shinji who needs to realise sexuality is a spectrum so he could’ve idk—come out as bisexual, but whatever manga Shinji lol that timeline is over.
Anyways the development of these two is real and I think the rebuild timeline shows them at their best bringing their own personage out from each other like how they both enjoy music together--WHICH I’M SO SAD WE NEVER GET TO SEE THAT CELLO AGAIN. Then there’s those feelings of humanity, love, kindness, etc. Which yeah an angel could represent those things, but Kaworu is still his own person, self-aware of a cycle and if you think about how he initially was there to USE Shinji, but ultimately turned on that plan set by SEELE because he loved Shinji (and a bunch of other things like him showing Kaworu humanity). I also can see the argument, how “ideal” Kaworu is to Shinji, but he’s more self aware of the time he has before he KNOWS he’ll die and knows how to act for himself in that duration to make the most of it. All with Shinji. At some point, I think he fell in love with Shinji tho I don’t know where it began tbh—considering that all those alternate universes do exist. Kaworu does romantically love Shinji--so, in some universe they both reciprocate their feelings to each other.
In the last movie during that convo with Shinji. Like bREH it’s so emotionally moving because Kaworu remembers ALLLLL the timelines and how he’s been with Shinji and later Shinji himself recalls the events too. Where they show the scene from the manga and anime. Kaworu cries after being set free from the EVA cycle. Which, I definitely understood what he meant by him saying “it’ll be lonely” and how Shinji changed or that he’s actually different this time.
Either way, Shinji did right by him because it’s always Kaworu who has the purpose of “trying to save Shinji” but it always ends up the same. I thought that was really moving because Shinji tells Kaworu he’s gonna let him live a life for himself for once and he wants the same for everyone as well. Which was honestly so meaningful cause I think Kaworu’s character and like Rei too when they start to realise how to “live” like a person and not another puppet it’s truly liberating. Another thing I forgot, bruh Kaworu calls Gendo his father and ngl I feel like this is kind of a weird lore situation because I for sure don’t think he’s the donor. I think he calls him that as an insult because he knows Gendo’s whole doing and relative to Shinji—I kind of see it as a joke LOL. Like it’s equivalent to saying, “daddy chill”, or “hey look it’s daddy and his plans to end the world” also I kind of like to think of it as a father in law thing cause you know, Kawoshin *winks amirite*
The ending, I’m honestly hoping is just an open ending because it gives everything an actual start of their adult lives not being dictated by extraterrestrial forces. Though, I’m kind of wondering if the world doesn’t have EVAs does that still mean everyone else still has the same backstory, and do they remember? Maybe Mari really is just a coworker lmfao, and there’s still a chance for Kaworu and Shinji cause ngl, they did have a convo (presumably from the spoilers) about still remaining close afterwards and that stare at the ending seems very hopeful.
I call bs from Anno saying, “oh Shinji is based off him and Mari off of his wife”, like honestly any OCs made theres always some part of yourself made into that character. Which is probably why a lot of people relate to the characters in EVA because they’re based off real things (e.g. those war machines characters are named after and people around them). I think why Kaworu and Rei are together at the end, is bc they’re very much the same. They’re mass produced dolls—which oddly enough that’s the case for all the children except they don’t recall the loop. Kind of funny also how both Kaworu and Rei became farmers lmfao so ig it runs in the family (yes that’s right I like the idea that they’re siblings it was always noted that they’re like “the same”).
Another thing, i think why the rebuild really did well for Kawoshin and in my opinion canonised it—the convo with elder Ryoji Kaji (Misato’s baby daddy) that there was a time he felt incredibly lonely and depressed thinking Misato didn’t love him and so he started looking out for himself. So self love and found himself a hobby in farming which he suggests to Kaworu—basically saying he might feel like Shinji doesn’t love him but he’s gotta remember to take care of himself. if I go thru a breakup ill feel like it’s the end of the world but Kaji says y’a gotta self love broe and take care yo self gad dam fam 😭 💗.
Though, that look at the end from Shinji to Kaworu—I’d like to believe there is still hope that one day when they’re a bit stable in their adult lives, they’ll run into each other.

Have you seen The Half of It? It’s on Netflix now :)
____
Not yet, no! Now that it’s finally here, I feel oddly reluctant to sit down and start. Sometimes hype makes me really want to watch something, sometimes I’m scared to start and be disappointed or worse, love it and have no more of it. Also, you know. It’s a movie. I still haven’t watched A Secret Love either. (Or The Favourite or Carol or The Handmaiden. :x) But I hope you enjoyed it!
And another two anons (one is mildly spoilery and negative):
<tried to insert a read more here, it wouldn’t do it...oh...it inserted the link in the ask itself, freaking geniuses>
I just watched the half of it and it wasn’t bad? I mean towards representation is not the best movie ever but it was nice and like the way it was shot was great?
The half of it vaguely spoilerish if you haven’t seen it yet... I am so glad I found out ahead of time that this wasn’t a lesbian rom com Bc whew I woulda been pissed watching it had I not known that. As it was, I was honestly kinda bored a lot of the movie. I love Alice Wu and she made very lovable characters in Ellie & Aster, but this movie had so much focus on Paul. I’m sick of white boys dominating narratives honestly. He wasn’t a fresh character at all but he was still so much the focus.
These two came in so close together this morning, they made me laugh. You’re like two sides of the same coin, all, yeah, I guess it was okay??
To the first anon, heh, you seem unsure? You can like it or even love it without any issue! It DOES hit a lot of rep points, unless it’s willfully apathetic or offensive, I feel like you’re free to enjoy what it is more than add disclaimers for what it isn’t. If you enjoyed it, that’s awesome.
To the second anon, well, I get it. Maybe that’s why I’m not in a rush to watch. I’m not currently in the mood for a story that is basically, in Wu’s own words, an attempt to reach out to people who made Trump happen. And okay, that’s not fair, it’s so many more things, a coming of age story for an Asian American lesbian teen, the story of a second gen immigrant and her dad in a small American town, among other things, friendship between seemingly fundamentally different people, how to grow and learn past learned biases, even the effects of religion on Aster.  And heck, even if it were just the first thing, that’d be an admirable goal, let alone the many other things it manages to be to so many people. I’m not saying it has to be something different.
But if this movie has two main roles, to teach empathy to an external group and to be relatable to an inner group, it is...neither of those things to me. I’m a Southeast Asian American who grew up abroad, my experiences are very different from Ellie’s and while I have a bunch of guy friends, I don’t care about Paul. Which will probably change when I actually watch, the way I love Dutch and Johnny in Killjoys. Or currently, Isaac on Vagrant Queen. I end up liking a lot of male characters, tbh. I dunno. I guess it’s what the focus is Presented as. Ellie may be the lead of THOI, but a movie’s inherent lack of time forces Paul and their dynamic to be so central, and a part of me does resent that a bit. It’s sold as a different kind of love story, their dynamic itself is the main character.
It could be a combination of many things, a difference between what I want and what it is, the fact that it’s a movie and just didn’t have the time I like to develop. I really liked In My Skin, a TV show, and that wasn’t particularly relatable, I guess I’m more open to stories when the female lead is front and center in every way. The story is about her. It’s like in Stumptown, I FAR preferred the episodes that treated Dex as the main than those where Grey or Hoffman had some adventure and Dex was just, like, there.
But annnyway. It’s fine, right, we don’t have to like everything. I get the FOMO, something like this is so big and the f/f community’s still so small, it’s hard to ignore it and everyone around us engaging with it in some way. But aren’t we reaching a point where we don’t have to like something because it’s f/f but can go on to something else? Well. I say that as someone who prefers TV to movies, because damn, pickings are slim if you want happy central f/f in movies. Honestly, that’s really what it comes down to, the issue isn’t this movie but that there aren’t enough f/f movies out there. Every one of these discussions boils down to that basic point, that this one movie shouldn’t be responsible for everything this industry’s failed to do. You don’t have to like this movie, but you should have the opportunity to watch more than one happy ending every few years.

Two things I have been thinking as of lately in reference to Fling Posse (a bit spoilerish, tbh):
*I’m 75% sure that “Yumeno Gentaro” is actually an alias or an identity that isn’t his. With that of the parallels in “Stella” and what not, and he being a writer and with his constant lies... And the fact that the public/secret info on his persona seems manufactured to “protect him”... Yeah, my thought isn’t entirely baseless.
*So, if the theory about Dice and Otome isn’t wrong (I mean, it’s kinda confirmed at this point unless they go another route)... One, one of them is DEFINITELY using an alias, I’m not sure WHO. Two, and this is coming from the last panel(s) from this month’s BTB manga chapter, I mean, it could be him, the kid there seems fairly young (middle school/high school aged) but, we don’t even know how long Otome hasn’t seen her son, right? (Dice might be 17/18 by the time the BTB events occur). ANYWAY, we might find out about this by the end of the month (considering how conveniently timed these revelations are done, as always :|).

inspired by quicksiluer’s spoilerish review of the last jedi, below is my SPOILER FILLED REVIEW OF THE MOVIE and basically rambling about what i loved and what i strongly disliked.
point is i loved the movie but i do have some issues on certain topics, but overall 8/10
things i loved:
luke skywalker, my childhood adoration for him never stopped, he was fantastic, everything that involved him was amazing and i greatly enjoyed it.
leia/luke meeting. i gasped. i was emo. it was heart-wrenching and beautiful, painful and so memorable, literally favorite part of the movie.
EVERY SCENE WITH LEIA EVER
luke/kylo fight was kinda predicable from the perspective where i expected kylo to shoot him with all he’s got and luke to survive it and walk out of the fire like a dramatic boss ass bith.
kylo being the main bad dude was unexpected for me, but i fucking enjoyed it a lot bc luke and him are my absolute faves followed by leia, i am trash for skywalkers what can i say
kylo/leia scene had me on the edge of my seat i was shit scared it was unexpected and thrilling.
suddenly discovered unexpected love for poe dameron bc in first movie i didn’t care about him, he was okay, but he didn’t have memorable scenes, at least for me, compared to the rest of the movie, but in this movie i loved how his role was larger than in the last one and he swept me off my feet, oscar did an amazing job.
rose was new character that i did not expect to get attached to or like but i love that girl and i loved all scenes with her and tbh my female faves are leia and her
finn. amazing. showstopping. talented. heart eyes at my man.
things i disliked:
luke’s death. HONESTLY??? WHY??? he had so much more to give, we could have had more dramatic/sad/good luke moments and he just reunited with the force after that awesome fucking badass fight and how he played kylo it was amazing i needed more of luke dragging his nephew’s cocky ass through the mudd and showing him who is the most powerful one. when he said he wanted kylo to strike him down in anger, after seeing how his death actually looked like, kylo killing him with a lightsaber would have been a much better and devastating, when he actually died i was a bit thrown off for 2 minutes until i realized what was happening. he should have not gone out so peacefully he should have gone out with a fucking bang. that was luke fucking skywalker. an iconic hero of a generation i will die bitter.
rey/kylo force chatting. looked weird and out of character for both of them. rey was inconsistent in her thought process towards kylo. all that who will pass on who’s side was a drag and unnecessary. leave good guys to be good, leave bad guys to be bad. stop making that weird drama it was just stressing me out.also it seemed like it would have some sort of romantic connotation, which, had it happened, i would have walked out of that cinema and disown my love for new star wars movies. luckily, that did not happen, but all kylo/rey drama... i am not here for that.
rey “betraying” luke’s trust and his will to train her so she can find out more about kylo and possibly fix the bad guy who she previous called monster who cannot be redeemed for what he had done to his father. i had some love for rey in the first movie, now she is too inconsistent for me to care about her.
snoke dying???? all that building up and suspense over this character to have him die in a sort of expected way, with that speech and all?? i do love that kylo my love is in charge but still i thought they would do something more badass with snoke
hux is fucking unnecessary at this point and looks/sounds like a dictator and is cringy af.
not nearly enough scenes with finn. i love my boy and he deserved more scenes, we saw what john boyega can do with this character if given enough space and scenes and they did not use his talent and let him show off how amazing he is and i am a little upset about it.

thanks! and na i aint angry. opinions are opinions after all. but i am intrigued by how you worded it, since it sounded a bit like 'i love the start of P5 but it goes downhill from there'. is that true or am I misinterpreting it? (i say i'm intrigued because of how much praise and popularity P5 has already; its like that meme 'friendship ended with P4 P5 is my new bud' or however it goes, and I know how much ya love P4)
Np!
Ahhhhh yeah………. you aren’t misinterpreting anything….. anyways under the cut cause it gets long. 8U And also negative (but no spoilers promise)
Ok so…..first off this isn’t because I’m “blinded by my love for P4,” I actually thought I’d love this even more than P4 (tbh it’s like tied right now, but because I like it for different reasons), it’s something I noticed while playing the game. Ok so some of you may know that sometime when P5 first came out and I finished it….I felt like there was something off about it. And at the time all I could come up with is that it….just didn’t “flow well,” and that it had “three distinct arcs and the middle one doesn’t really match the first and third.” I just……I didn’t know how to describe it. Someone tried to point out to me “Maybe it’s cause of the Omnibus format” and haha let me tell you, I forgot this was suppose to be “omnibus” when I was playing it. Tbh it’s as omnibus and P3 and P4. I can see where each mini arc begins in P3/4/5 and when it ends and the next one begins, if that’s what they are calling “omnibus” (maybe that’s why Atlus described as “kinda like omnibus” but not completely, would’ve been hard considering the format, I think Sly Cooper and it’s chapters in each game are more like an omnibus format if you need something to compare). Anyways, yeah so it wasn’t that, it was the actual substance in the story. Of course I still couldn’t put my freaking finger on it so like a dork I’m just kept describing it as “flow” 8U And then I found someone who pointed out the flaws they saw in P5 and oh my god that was it, they put into words that I couldn’t describe. And it was actually after reading a few Japanese reviews (which they agreed with since they couldn’t put into words what they were thinking either, and decided to go to Japanese review websites to see if they could find someone who thought the same thing), they finally figured out what was bothering them.
Summarizing (well the beginning middle, I’ll just post the ending to their argument after the summary) in the most non-spoiler way possible (things in parentheses are my comments btw): “P5 peaked after the first two dungeons, and then crashed and burned in the latter half of the game (basically 3rd arc). All the antagonists after the 2nd boss are cartoon caricatures (I wouldn’t say all but yeah most of them). A very important and very thought provoking ethical question is raised after the 2nd dungeon and NOTHING IS DONE WITH IT (actually there are a few ethical questions raised and nothing is done with them, but this specific one takes the cake). Lastly, by the time you get to the last chapter I (the writer) had lost whatever grasp he had on an actual theme or message of the game (they describe P3’s theme, and even P4’s multiple themes  and man P4 really juggled a lot of themes).”
Actually here’s what more they have to say on the P5 theme thing, I’ll edit out the spoilers but really I can’t summarize it: “When I look at the the ending of P5, what is it really trying ot say? The guiding idea is "Push back against the status quo, the corruptions and the powers that be, don’t give up”. *something spoilerish in game happens that kind of supports this buuuuut* But unlike P3/P4 there was no real soul searching to get there. At one point in the story, they were merely acting, or reacting as the stakes got higher and higher. By the time they got to *insert this antagonist*,  it’s clear that they put their personal interest ahead of justice and the justification for going after them (the antagonist) was iffy at best. Without really exploring the ethical ramification consequence of what they did, all I could get out of it was basically “all’s well that ends well”.And this is the problem I also saw in Social links, because the fact that the thieves can just make everyone’s problems go away just trivialized the struggles of each characters. They were entertaining but lacked the emotional weight of something like the Sun Arcana in P3, where the characters had to deal with actual consequences of his action and his life with no easy answers for them.So I guess in summary, the plot of P5 was top notch as light hearted, feel good story. It was entertaining and kept me on my toes in a way that movies like Star Wars did. But when it comes to substance and themes I found it lacking compared to P3/P4. It’s not that it needed to have tragic ending, and I think triumphant heroic ending would have worked, if it treaded deeper waters to get there.“
Wow sorry for my mess of copying that over (I put it in italics to make it easier  to read but yeah sorry ;w;), but I wanted to keep it spoiler-free as possible but here’s the link if you wanna read it in all it’s endgame spoilerishness. But yeah…..what they said. The whole "peaks after first two dungeons” might account for why I don’t really like anyone beyond the 2nd dungeon (bar Haru, but tbh they didn’t do anything with her, and also bar Yusuke cause I know while he’s on my list for characters I don’t like but slkfndsl;afs;a I would never remove him from the game so that’s saying something). In arc 3’s defense I think it could’ve delivered better if arc 2 was actually up to snuff but it’s just screws the plot/story/theme/message so much that you’re wondering if you’re still playing the same game you did in the first two dungeons. A lot of people who hate P4’s plot might actually get a headache over how convoluted P5’s is, it’s almost like they wanted to take P3’s plot but make it bigger but they didn’t know how and were juggling too many things. Also after reading this review I actually started drawing story parallels between P5 and Ultimax (and I know how much y'all hate Ultimax’s writing so haha that’s not a good sign when I find parallels between the two). The difference between P5 and Ultimax is that while Ultimax got screwed in the writing department, I could still see what the plot was actually going for. I knew what they were trying to convey, but with P5? I think I did, I think we all have a grasp of what they were going for, but by the time I got to the end it felt really muddled and lost that…..it turns out I don’t know what they were trying to say. I woke up, I got up, and I got out there but now….I’m kind of lost tbh.

Do you have characters who would be second in command? The shows don’t really seem to have that. Unless you count the ones the leaders tend to get into the most fights with😅 (Matt, TK, so on)
I kinda disagree about Daisuke/Davis having Takeru/TK as second in command/right arm, it’s mostly like Ken takes the role. Before Ken, I can see it was either Takeru or Hikari/Kari. But honestly I felt like that role didn’t get explored very well or stated anywhere in 02 material so I think this is mostly we assuming roles and none of us is “wrong” or “right.”And avoid thinking that “bickering with the protag/lead = right arm,” because Takato’s is definitely Jian/Henry than Ruki/Rika and they don’t fight each other, as example. Neither Taiki/Mikey & Kiriha/Christopher, tbh I think it was rare times Taiki argued with Kiriha...? Tagiru wasn’t a lead despite being a protag, that kept being Taiki’s role.
For the question... Hmm... It’s kinda spoilerish but the kids are divided between two groups of six:
Tumblr media
And when the whole group is together, Daichi does not become the leader, he’s mostly the strategist/tactician of the Neo Chosen Children. It goes to Mitsuki that role.
Tbh, not even Akira & Toshi are leaders in their respective groups, that’s Taichi’s child’s role in each timeline. The only one to be the lead and is a Daisuke child is Daiki, the canon epilogue kid.

Wrote a bit about this on Twitter, but GUESS WHAT MOVIE I WENT TO SEE ON THE CINEMA THIS WEEKEND.
Of course, potential spoilers... although, in general... it’s the Benizakura arc. I mean... it’s kinda spoilerish? Now that the manga is already ending?
It was a pleasant experience although, I would like to point a couple of things: I went to the last day (a Sunday) of exhibition, in the first showing, which was, as pointed in my ticket, at 1 PM. We were like... 5 or 6 people, including me, so... I don’t know how well the movie made through this festival. I remember reading somewhere that the anime movies didn’t do well when they were shown (two years ago, although I DO consider other factors, too, as lack of promotion- I would have gone to see them... if promotion was more present, but LOL no one of my IRL acquaintances LIKE Gintama-, and availability -a.k.a. going to the other side of my city w/no transport whatsoever except spending much more on public transportation than a freaking ticket- so... it’s very obvious Gintama isn’t an exact mainstream title that may do well in Mexico.
However, other factors may have influenced too - I went on a Sunday, and at 1 PM. Almost a Matinée showing, too.
Anyway.
I was amazed that some distributor may have shown interest in this, tbh. WAY too soon (7.14 is when the roadshow STARTED in Japan) even, although somewhere in the official page of the movie it was mentioned that the movie WOULD DEFINITELY be shown in the American continent.
The movie was pretty good?? As expected from Fukuda Yuuichi, who I previously enjoyed his work on Yuusha Yoshihiko and the drama adaptation of Aoi Honoo. Most of the comedy was top-notch, and the actors do KNOW how to time their comedy acts while balancing out the drama aspect of this storyline, which, obviously, is Benizakura-hen, once again.
I cannot complain that much about how this arc was chosen over a proper introduction (although in usual Gintama fashion, ACROSS ALL MEDIA, the cast joked about this same fact), but with much more reason, this is the arc that the roles of important characters are introduced and Gintoki’s past and present clash, and of course, it has a long term effect on the series. Kind of amusing watching this movie with the proper future context (I wasn’t the only one there, tbh... people behind me were talking loud about manga spoilers). It would be very interesting if there was a sequel... probably adapting another arc -crosses fingers, PROBABLY for Yoshiwara in Flames... although the one with Itou betraying the Shinsengumi would be interesting -again, Kiheitai present, but also introducing Bansai who was absent here... although I’m pretty fuzzy if he played an important role in Benizakura, too *it’s been a long time since I read the arc*.
Then again, the adaptation had its own issues, I guess? I cannot complain about that either... then again, it’s not one of my favorite arcs of the series... most of the things I have issue with, are in origin. But there were a bit of few missed chances. I mean, Gengai has a past thing with the Kiheitai... Otose WAS mentioned (but not seen)... although maybe I’m losing something there a msitranslation somewhere? At the end of the day, the subs that the movie had were somewhat bad.
META REFERENCES. WHAT. I’m pretty sure I lost some of them, lol. There were a few directed to Oguri (Gintoki), to Hashimoto (Kagura)... to the same series, for freaking hell... Nice, nice.
This is mostly personal opinion, but I enjoyed this adaptation even more than the AnKyou movie that I went to see last year. I know it’s like comparing apples to pears (different tone of story, different directors), but then again... as an adaptation, I think this is how you CAN make it, while trying to put original content (pretty sure the whole Henpeita part was played with a much more humorous tone here than in the manga/anime... then again, he is played by Sato Jiro, and I’m certain it was mostly ad-libbed... see the whole Buddha talks in Yuusha Yoshihiko and TELL me they aren’t ad-libbed), too. Not that I’m biased, btw. I was... mostly dissapointed in how the timing was managed in the AnKyou movie (and the fact that they DID announce the entire cast at the start, only promoted a few of the actors who had “relevant roles” in the movie(s), besides some key scenes... tell me, did the rest of the 28 students* -besides you-know-who- did something MORE useful than just a couple of scene of wonders or being shells of their original counterparts? because from all the cast that was announced in the Gintama one, THEY ALL DID SOMETHING) because at the end, they decided to tell a 21 volume manga story in 2 movies of 2 hours each. Heck, I liked Suda Masaki here as Shinpachi EVEN BETTER than his Karma.
To people who judged pre-release of the movie: I get it. The anime seiyuu cast is and always will be our beloved characters of this series. For some of you it has been a decade, almost a decade, five years, etc. You cannot hear them and seeing them act with another actor or voice in minds, but the actors DID a good job. No matter how they don’t look as “handsome” as their original manga/anime counterparts (which is one of the most... “what” complaints I saw here when I explored the series tag), they really became the essence of their respective characters. Oguri was a good Gintoki, and using the Suda example, while Sakaguchi Daisuke will always be Shinpachi in my mind and heart, he was also incredibly good at being and ACTING like Shinpachi.
Heck, even a couple of the voice actors reprised their roles in the movie? Takahashi Mikako was Sadaharu (I wasn’t that much bothered by the CGI... I mean, it’s Gintama, and I can pass it on...) and Yamadera Kouichi was Shouyo-sensei’s voice (with an actor stand-in). And I’m kinda certain that one of the initial amanto cameos is voiced by Sugita (anime!Gintoki)??? There isn’t too much “bad blood” even if it’s just an industry standard. (There were even seiyuu cameos in some charas BOTH in Aoi Honoo and Yuusha Yoshihiko, just saying).
While my expectations on the SaiPSI movie aren’t very high, I DO expect a pretty fun and decent movie. If Gintama proved to be something, based on my previous experiences, then there’ a high chance it will be fun. Again, both are directed by the same director. Trust me on that one.
(Although there’s now 0 chances that that movie would be released here. Gintama may not be THAT mainstream AND there WAS a release of this, but Saiki???)
(*) In defense of the AnKyou movies, though, let’s be real here: Not many of them received decent development in the manga, either. BUT STILL. Some key elements were lost here??? I mean... adfsfsf.
