He pouts at this. What a cute little meanie you were! Always scolding him and spewing empty threats as if you were hot shit. You were hot shit, and that was only the beginning of his problems... The biggest one right now being backstage with you while attending the hottest awards show of the year.

Just before he can respond, the curtains are drawn and it's a stagehand whisking you two away to present the next award infront of thousands of fans. You're walking side by side, your heels clicking with each step when Dazai leans in to whisper something.

"You should stand on my left, my right side is more attractive."

"We're both facing forward, does it matter?"

He raises a brow and huffs dramatically in typical Dazai fashion. You two had been 'dating' for a year now, everyone was invested in this blooming romance ever since you both started in that drama together, now it's nothing but red hearts for you two.

It wasn't planned, it just kind of happened... It also wasn't completely awful, but it was the goddamn ego on Dazai that really made you want to strangle him sometimes. He knew he was pretty and desired, and what a threat you were with such an iconic streak in all of your latest projects. No wonder you two had to be paired together, on your own you were both dynamite. An unstable formula that needed to be stabilized by combining it together. Thought could that make it worse?

You present the award holding hands the entire time, an act highly encouraged by the need to convince, and yet when it's you two doing it it never feels as forced as you'd like it to be. There is a comfortability in the role of this relationship, you've come to realize yet supress. You'll hold hands for so long you begin to get clammy, and it's certainly not because he dotes on you almost every time he speaks! Which he hates doing... It's just a script, after all. Duh.

You're both making your way out of the venue towards the car that awaits to drive you to the after party when you're ambushed by interviewers and hundreds of flashes that yell out speed questions.

"Does the beautiful couple have time to stop and answer a few things for us tonight!"

Dazai loves that shit. Of course he has the time, he doesn't care if you don't. He has to sell it, obviously, since you don't put in the effort according to him. He flashes the interviewer that sardonic little smirk you hate and speaks innocently.

"Why, us? Sure! Right, honey?"

He turns to you and the crowd loves it. You hold back how badly you want to roll your eyes and simply smile, holding yourself high with grace and a ton of media training.

"We'd love to."

The interviewer is overjoyed as she looks between you and Dazai, taking in that affection that radiates from your false words. She grins as she goes along to ask her question.

"So, I think a lot of the fans are wondering..."

You and Dazai perk up, not even realizing that you're clutching the bottom of your dress so tighty that your knuckles are white. The interviewer looks directly at you.

"The two of you have been the most stunning couple the industry has seen in a while. Any plans for the future?"

You freeze. Ugh, not this again. You shake your head, smirking to yourself at the absurdity of the concept alone.

"Thank you, but honestly we're just taking things day by day. There's no rush between us, we have all we need right here and now."

The journalist smiles again and nods, seemingly impressed by your laid back attitude. Dazai snorts and suddenly interjects, clearly having a cheeky response to give to the crowd of journalists.

"We'll have tons of kids in the future, actually~"

Your panic is so instant that you literally laugh out loud, yet recover quickly by turning your shock into a playful glance at your lover. You manage a more sweet giggle and smack him on the chest a little harder than people would guess.

"Ooh, he's joking, of course."

The journalist rejoices, finding your banter and your overall interaction as a couple cute. The ideal power couple! Dazai grins and turns to you again, leaning in to tease you, his narrowed Hazelnut eyes piercing into you like a promise.

"Not joking. One day we're going to have a massive pack of little kids running around. And it's going to be your fault for being sooo cute~"

And with that, he leans in all the way into a million dollar kiss on your confused and parted lips. You're taken so offguard you almost fall back and of course grab onto him a little tighter... and run your fingers through his disheveled hair you forgot to nag him to cut... As the cameras go off like crazy, you wonder if it's worth ruining your public image for a while just so you can slap him harder than you ever have before.

Everyone's cooing and you're fuming, so you settle for a quick thank you and goodbye as you drag Dazai off the red carpet and into the car. He's giggling the entire time, of course. As soon as the door shuts out the screaming fans watching you drive off, you turn to Dazai and whisper ardently.

"What was that all about?! We didn't discuss this prior to-"

"... You liked it."

"Huh?"

"You liked it when I kissed you."

You scoff, though it sounds like you're choking.

"I did not. I just did what I had-"

"... And you want to have my babies. That's adorable, how devoted of you!"

You smack him on the arm but he's smiling like a cat who's had too much catnip, too far gone into his delusions to care about the repercussions. Love is love, after all...

"I think we should break up, like officially. You're nuts. The press won't let that go, Osamu."

He perks up, snapping out of his stasis and crinkles his nose in disapproval. He shakes his head, his hand on his chin as if in deep thought. Dazai mutters, barely above a whisper.

"... We won't actually break up, though."

"And why not?"

"Because in about 60 seconds we're going to kiss again and you'll be clinging onto me the entire night."

You snort into a laugh, tilting your head in disbelief. The car slowly comes to a halt as you arrive at the after party where a familiar roar of the crowd awaits to greet you once more. You begin your futile argument yet again.

"I don't see why I would do that."

At such a silly reply, Dazai softens his voice, looking at you like he first did when you both met on set a year ago. A lifetime ago. You're so cute when you're playing dumb. He shrugs, carefree.

"Neither do I, which is why I want to know too. I want to know what you're thinking about, if it's me."

You hate the way he sounds so sincere, like a real boyfriend would if he were trying to convince you you're just as into him as he is into you. Mind games is what it is, or at least you hope so. You really hope so.

You sigh, suddenly over the conversation as you open the car door to begin climbing out. Dazai follows suit and the roar of the crowd makes your chest feel tight as overstimulation takes over. You want to be anywhere but here and you wonder if you're having some sort of panic attack, but it just doesn't feel describable.

You turn wildly, disoriented by the camera flashes and instant fuss of the press, only to be faced by your one and only savior: the omnipotent Osamu Dazai. You don't know what it is about him in that moment, you just glide into his arms and complete the prophecy as you hook your arm with his, taking deep breaths as you finally ground yourself. It feels like the right kind of wrong, and you don't care to question it.

You feel a squeeze and a soft velvety voice whisper to you once again, you don't even have to look at him to know he's as smug as ever. But amongst the teasing, there's affection there too...

"So, am I?"

"Are you what, Osamu?"

"On your mind."

"At this point you're practically a permanent resident."

You hear him hum, a smile still present on his lips, the world simply frozen for him to continue his private conversation with you in public.

"Hmm, remind me to have you repeat that to me later."

This causes you to squeeze his arm back and murmur in genuine curiosity, finally daring to face him. He's already looking right at you, so devilish and angelic at the same time that you can't even look away.

"Why?"

"Because your time's up. 60 seconds, remember? Now come and kiss me already, the camera's are waiting~"

The photos of you two that night were the envy of couples everywhere. If only they knew how the ride back to the hotel went, it would be a scandal! Or simply the next step in your future?

the dinner part being over at least thirty minutes ago, scraps of rice and some smears of sauce being the only thing left on everybody’s plate as classical music played in the background.

jason wasn’t paying attention to any of that though. whether it be because he was used to the luxuries that came with being known in gotham, or because he was staring daggers at his brother.

your boyfriend wasn’t able to concentrate on anything but the laugh that kept leaving your lips, the hand that hit dick’s playfully, or the way that your entire body was damn near turned to only face dick.

he squints his eyes, dick isn’t even that funny and he has no idea why you were entertaining the stupid shit he was saying.

the reason was obvious to you, though. it was your first time actually meeting his brother, so you were just putting on a good face, one that your future in-laws would approve of and love. it wasn’t hard to figure out dick liked the attention, so the attention is what he will get.

"what are you drinking on, jay?" the question pulls jason out of his annoyed thoughts, both you and dick looking over at him as dick motions towards the cup sitting in front of his brother.

"rum and coke," he replies, leaning forward to you and bringing one of his big hands to rest on your thigh, his eyes never leaving dick’s. "so gross," you smile at your boyfriend, and dick laughs.

green eyes look from blue ones to your own and he tilts his head slightly, "you’ve never had a problem with it before," jason reminds, and you shake your head. "it’s not my drink of choice," your eyes roll and jason’s grip on your exposed thigh tightens, because he knows you’re putting on a show and doesn’t know why it isn’t for him.

if it weren’t for dick’s laugh, your expression would’ve faltered by the way jason didn’t respond after that, the only response are his eyes narrowed towards you and the thumb that’s rubbing on your skin. "we just met and i already know they love a good mojito," if looks could kill, dick would’ve been laid on the ground with blood surrounding his body.

"yeah, i forgot. must’ve also forgotten to show my girlfriend around. we’ll be back." jason squeezes your thigh and moves his hand to your bicep, pulling you up like you forgot how to stand on your own. dick is saying something, but you don’t make it out as you arch a brow to jason who’s looking forward and dragging you along with him.

"what the hell?" he doesn’t respond, walking down a side path beside tables of chattering guests until he’s made his way to a bathroom, pushing you inside harshly and slamming the door with a clicking lock.

"you fucking kidding me?" jason’s demeanor is dark, an unsettling aura surround him as he pushes his body against yours, the cool tile on your back making you wince. "you wanna tell me what you’re talking about?"

he deadpans, a hand coming to grip your jaw to look up at his body that very obviously looms over yours. his eyebrows are furrowed and his lip is in a straight line. "did you forget who you came here with?" the question is rhetorical, but you can’t help but laugh.

"wanna remind me?" the teasing tone in your voice is enough to make jason put a crack in the tile behind you. but, that isn’t him, and he resorts to bringing his other hand to your throat, settling it there as the hand that was holding your jaw goes to tap your cheek.

"i’ll make it a reminder for everyone here, keep playing with me." his voice is nice and low, a contrast to the voice he could make you sing right here in this bathroom. your eyes move from his eyes to his lips, and back to his eyes again. now it’s his turn to smirk.

his eyes roll, a scoff leaving his lips. "god," jason starts, the hand around your throat tightening, "you love this shit. that’s why i’m not giving it to you."

both rough hands fall to his sides as he looks down at you and then proceeds to walk away, looking at himself in the bathroom mirror. a hand goes to push his hair back, then he tightens his tie.

as his hand leaves your throat, as sigh escapes your lips, and you’re following his direction like a lost puppy. "here," he turns to you and brings a thumb to your lips, the brown lipgloss shining so pretty. his thumb touches your bottom lip, dragging it down so that the gloss looks messy on your lips.

"perfect," his teeth show in a smile and he leans down to kiss you, quickly taking your hand and leading you out the bathroom.

Especially something so lengthy and lore-heavy like nostalgic chill. Been trying to cook up some hsr fic myself but I get so overwhelmed by the sheer amount of world lore ..

thank u for asking such a fun question!!! my process is very losey goosey, specifically for this fic, but ill try to explain it as best i can

the (VERY) rough outline for this fic has been planned out since long before i actually started posting it, with it getting more detailed near the end (a few of the final chapters have already been drafted, actually)

on the path towards the end ive spread out a few plot points which are either just cool things i want to write about (like all those damn fights) or important character stuff (like the bailiu heart-to-heart and every single jing yuan reality check)

when i start a new chapter, ill usually already know where i want it to end, often one of those pre-planned points. ill spend a few days (or even one or two weeks) thinking about how to continue the story, and then once i have an idea ill like, ill sit down and start writing.

typically, a good idea will be the easiest to write for me. if i get stuck anywhere before reaching the end of the scene, ill usually just scrap it immediately and start over. i try to make each chapter one unbroken scene, so a reached plot-point isnt necessary for the chapter to end.

like, for the most recent 2 chapters, the plot-point ive been writing towards is jing yuan meeting the master diviner, which was a VERY important thing that needed to happen before anything else. of course, everything is also following an overarching goal, which is mostly just jing yuans character arc, and that is built towards in the narration between major events. also worldbuilding i guess.

on the research side, i dont have much to say? my grasp on the xianzhou lore is already pretty solid (its my favourite area) so a lot of the research i do lore-wise is just double-checking that i have my facts straight. also, reading the xianzhou lore is good for inspiration, if im really lacking in that, which is unusual but not impossible.

i dont think my process is especially unique? its definitely not very structured, but thats unusual even for me. idk tldr i think of cool stuff i want to write about and then fill in the gaps between those cool stuff. tis fun

“fuck” you murmured hazily, aki ran towards you offering a hand, when you took it and tried to get up your ankle protested and you lost balance hissing from the pain.

aki was quick to steady you by your waist, you looked up where your partner’s face was mere inches from yours, mesmerizing blue eyes too close for comfort.

his forehead was shiny with sweat. a few hairs sticking to it, the first few buttons of his shirt were open and sleeves rolled up. even his tie was hanging low. it was the first time you saw him that disheveled and it made your legs weak.

“the devil escaped” you muttered.

“i know” he muttered back with you still in his arms, “there’s a hospital not too far from—“

“no, they’ll tell me to put ice and rest, i’ll just go home” you tried to put some weight on the twisted — possibly broken — ankle and almost fell again but aki’s hands tighten up around you.

“my place is closer, let’s go” he let go of you to turn around flexing his knees slightly for you to hop on his back.

“it’s quite swollen” he held your leg up by your calf, when he tried to roll your pants up he touched your ankle and your pulled your leg back hissing in pain, “you can’t put ice on top of your pants” he justified.

“these are skinny jeans, i can’t roll it up, especially now” you looked down at your ankle, the hem was already too tight around it.

“then you’re gonna have to take it off” he simply told you before turning around.

“is this your plan to see me naked?” you playfully narrowed your eyes at him.

“yeah this all just part of it” he replied sarcastically and picked the thick blanket from the couch to toss at you.

“ew i’m not covering myself with that, it’s hot as fuck already” you pushed the blanket off of you.

“power broke it” he walked over to the glass door and opened, it wasn’t enough to cool you down but it was slightly better. aki took your legs and sat with them on top of his lap — since the couch was small — carefully putting the frozen package on top of it. “better?” he asked with one hand touching the skin above the swollen area.

That poor soldier, being in the Captain's presence is already hard enough but having him standing in front of you, staring into the depths of your soul without a word?? They're not sleeping tonight. And now the soldiers have an amazing story to tell around the campfire at least, the time the 1st Harbinger demonstrated his ways of affection in front of them.

And he just keeps staring until one of the soldiers has the courage to interrupt and ask him if that's really how he shows affection and Capitano just... nods like it's normal. And now Capitano is not an idiot because he can still clearly see how his soldiers are scratching their heads awkwardly and sending each other strange looks, and he immediately knows that this was not a good demonstration in the slightest. He would just clear his throat and be like "ahem. apologies for wasting your time. back to training." Also, Levi may not be as smart or smart as Erwin, Armin etc. but he's rather quick minded and smart on his own way. Their conversations will be sassy and interesting haha 🤣

You know that lore that’s like…’if ur left(or right?) ear rings, an Angel is trying to talk to you?

That happens to u every time Kuras is desperately wanting to speak with you but he’s either too busy, or you’re too busy to chat at the moment.

And when he falls for u, it starts happening way more frequently. Like, you’re taking a sip of your coffee or tea or whatever, and suddenly your ear goes EEEEEEEEEEEEE

But then it happens again when you’re at work, when you’re talking with one of the other LI or friends, when you’re picking up dinner, WHEN YOU’RE TRYING TO FRICKIN SLEEP >:0

It gets to be such a bother that you HAHAH, actually go see Kuras about it. You walk in like, ‘Kuras, my man, can u please check up on my ear, it’s been buzzing nonstop.’

And after some questions, he starts to realize…oh dang, has he really been thinking about you that much? Dang, what a simp he has become. That’s his true monster form all along. A massive, mullet haired simp.

He does find a way to help you. Though he still thinks about u just as much.

OKAY OKAY NEXT ONE

Is it just me or does Kuras seem like a guy that constantly radiates warmth. Like his hands? Always warm like he’s been holding a hot cup of tea. His hugs??? Just like being wrapped up in a blanket right outta the dryer(drier?).

I feel like if you easily get cold, he does the thing cold handed people do and sometimes just surprises u by putting his warm palm on the back of your neck.

ALSO ALSO ALSO- if you’re strolling with him during either a cold rainstorm, or when it’s winter and snowing—you say something like- “My nose feels like it’s going to freeze and fall off ):” and you’re right, it’s gotten so cold you’ve now become Rudolph. Your cheeks are pretty red too.

NOT TO FEAR

Kuras will then gently brush your hair out of your face before planting a warm little smooch on the tip of your nose and then a BUNCH of kisses across your cheeks. Warmth blooms across your entire body and BOOM. Problem solved.

Because you’re probably also blushing now too.
