Analyzing Sonic's love language + Sonamy, pt. 1
Sonamy is probably one of the most conflicted ships I've seen in the fandom. Which I find funny, because it's quite clearly the ship that the Sonic Team favors the most and gives the most content for, at least when it comes to Sonic himself. But anyway, I've seen a lot of people claim that Sonic "clearly" doesn't like Amy back because of how uncomfortable he looks whenever she showers him with affection. (And yes, I know the more recent media has given her a ton of maturity regarding that, which I appreciate.) But from my observations, that's just not the case.
Why? It boils down to each of the characters' love languages.
And Sonic's love language is quite clearly NOT physical affection. And that doesn't just manifest with Amy; it manifests with EVERYONE that tries to show him more touchy-feely affection, including people we know for a fact he loves to death. Like Tails.
Sonic himself doesn't initiate hugs very often, so when Tails got hurt in the Sonic Boom episode "The Sidekick" and Sonic was trying to figure out some way to protect him and express how much he'd been worried, he does awkwardly hug his little brother. Look at Tails' reaction.
Tumblr media
He's probably shocked right now. He would know better than anyone else that Sonic doesn't normally do that.
I don't think Sonic minds hugs, but he actually isn't a big fan of them in general. In the episode "Do Not Disturb," when Sonic and Tails ended up driving each other nuts with their personal lifestyles, Tails walks over and throws his arms around Sonic after they apologize and reconcile. This time, look at Sonic's reaction.
Tumblr media
His stance and expression make it pretty clear he was not expecting it, and after a couple seconds he says "Kay, too long, gettin' weird," and gently pulls away. But he's still kinda smiling, so it's clear he's not mad, just slightly uncomfortable at the touch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While we know there's many different variations of Sonic's character throughout the franchise, this trait is pretty consistent. Something very similar to this situation happens in the second live action movie, when Sonic tells Tails that they're pals, and Tails hugs him. Once again, look at Sonic's response.
Tumblr media
He's startled and pretty quickly picks Tails up and puts him back, but he's smiling amidst it. Same as before; enjoying the emotion, but not necessarily comfortable with the means of affection.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, yeah, at the end of the movie after he comes back from being Super, Maddie and Tom both come running and each individually hug him. Sonic doesn't pull away that time, and I think he's more okay with it that time, since barely five minutes before they thought they were going to die together. He just kinda smiles a little and closes his eyes when they hug him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(on a side note those screenshots give me such happiness 🥹 this family >>>)
I'm gonna leave it at that for this post, but yeah, this is part 1. Mostly because I can't add many more images, and I had too many more to share. Part 2, which I'll post as quickly as possible, will move on to Sonic X and apply these things to Sonamy. 😁💞

Welcome Home asks are officially open, again! Just note that I have kinda been drifting away from that fandom a bit, so I might not write for it OFTEN. I still will, of course, but I might write other stuff more often, which I think might also help with the quality of my Welcome Home writings, too! To be honest, if anybody has been checking in on the non-ask posts I've made, you could probably tell that I haven't really been posting a lot of Welcome Home content besides asks since my break started.
After all, it is my little motto that if somebody doesn't feel passionate about a topic they are writing about at the time of writing, it just won't come out as good as it would've if they were! I hope y'all can understand. Especially since, to be honest, I have been obsessed with Welcome Home more often than my other fixations (my mom has even joked about it. Lol she kinda was like "why puppets? Why can't it be Sonic or something I know about that you obsess over for more than two days? She's hilarious AF).
Oh, and btw, my arm is still a little sore, but I will be trying to write more often. My little break is still in effect, but I will try to pop in more than I was at the start of the break. It is healing well, and I really wanna write, I just don't want to push myself and possibly pull it again, lol.

Tagged by @pidgeonpostal! And not tagging anyone else because I have SOILED the original template (soiled it!!) in deference to my [brushes off skirt] mostly clean public-facing appearance.
...I’ve been making a lot of Spongebob memes lately for someone who has not seen Spongebob.
How many works do you have on AO3?
71!
What’s your total AO3 wordcount?
...306,834. Jesus.
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Uh. Many! I do a lot of one-offs (and/or start long things I never finish) in many different places. My top three fandoms by fics written are RWBY (29), Undertale (25), Gravity Falls/Transcendence AU (4).
Bet you can’t tell where my hyperfixations have fallen.
I’ve also got some Pokémon and Sonic the Hedgehog fics back on my ff.net account, or I think I still do, anyway, but let’s never go back there pls
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. Sweeter Than Honey (Undertale): Taking a Completely unsurprising first place, with over 600 more kudos than the runner-up, the haphazard Underswap fic featuring a post-college self-insert I wrote just after high school! I shake my head some at how overblown and ridiculous the gap between this and all my other stuff is (c’mon, guys, I’ve written way better fics), but this is also the fic which prompted me (and at least one other person!) to start using they/them pronouns. I’ve gotten a lot of really sweet comments about how seen and appreciated it’s made people feel, so I can’t get down too far about it.
2. To Be A Hero (BNHA): I don’t count myself as part of the BNHA fandom, for a number of reasons, but for something that’s arguably the main motivation for the entire plot, Midoriya’s quirklessness is something I’ve never thought has been handled well. This fic marked the first time I (somewhat tentatively) claimed the disability label (thanks again to Sweeter Than for prompting that realization) to hold that lens over canon. It also really shot up my chart, dang! It’s the only thing here I’d consider “recent.”
3. Three-Sentence Shipping (Undertale): Self-explanatory.
4. Brothers Beyond Bonedaries (Undertale): Ah, the way-overcomplicated AU³ I got nowhere close to finishing. One of the things I really like about Undertale is the interface screw, how Toby Fox uses the medium of the video game to pull off crazy things and enhance his game, but most of the fic written for the fandom seems dedicated to explaining it away, grounding it, rather than taking it to the next step and messing with the medium of fanfiction when you keep the story going. I tried to do something cool like that here, playing with questions like narrator and authorship and breaking the fourth wall, even taking the “final boss” fight to a “totally separate” fic reached through the first by link – but, well, then I never finished it, which probably didn’t make anything less confusing for the poor folks who missed the intent.
5. Spirit and Such (Gravity Falls: Transcendence AU): A whole fic written to line out a particular image I had, which, naturally, never made it to the page. I consider it a bit of a cautionary tale for myself when it comes to writing (near-)original content; there’s a lot I look back on and cringe. I still love the characters, though – well, the important ones – and I think just stepping away from the tried-and-true Mizar formula nets it a star sticker here.
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
>w>; I try, but a lot of the time I just don’t have anything to say? Like, oh, you liked it? Neat. There’s not much to respond to in comments like that, and then I’m weighing falling down on an ~obligation~ to respond to every message in my inbox vs annoying people with copy-paste fluff responses all down the page. Plus I know I make more of an effort to comment on things that didn’t get the attention I feel they deserve, so if I’m driving up my own comment count with nonsense, am I preventing myself from being in a position to receive more comments later? And then if I do comment, am I being too effusive or running people’s ears off explaining things they don’t actually need to know? Sometimes people just want to express interest or admiration and don’t necessarily want a whole peek and guided tour behind the curtain.
Can you tell I have anxiety? x3;
Anyway, I do respond when I can. And I keep most of the comments I’ve gotten to go back and reread.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Hm, hmm. Lots of stuff in the TQ Nonsense series would probably qualify! I’m thinking of Unfixable, Wolfsong, and Ethanol. And there’s Bursting Through A Blood-Red Sky (I Can Live, I Can Breathe), of course, but that was always intended to have a fix-it epilogue. It’s just that I wrote it in a couple of hours day-of, stared at it, and decided I didn’t wanna just then. But now that’s As Long As You’re Still Burning Bright (I’m Still Awake), and that’s probably the best romance I’ve written, so that one worked out.
Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve ever written?
Now and then! When the urge strikes. Uhhh, I’ve got a series of Doctor Who x Undertale crossovers I actually made a whole dang verse for that never made it to print. Get a couple great comments on that every few months or so. I think the World Trigger x Undertale crossover is probably weirder, though, by virtue of WT being a very small fandom. My enthusiasm kinda sputtered out on that one.
Mostly I just daydream crossovers with whatever happens to catch my eye at any given moment. I have a lot!!!! Though odds are out on whether I manage to remember any of them once the initial thought’s passed, lol.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Gotten a couple eyebrow-raising comments, but I think mostly I’m just too small a writer to draw that kind of attention.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don’t? think so? Think my tastes are a little niche for most people to bother ^^;
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I had someone apologize once for any language mistakes in their comment cause they had to run it through a translator! That’s not what you asked (the answer is no), but it’s very flattering to think that someone liked my fic enough to read and comment despite the language barrier.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! :D @pidgeonpostal was gracious enough to agree to co-write Five Nights at Denny’s with me off an idea about shoes. This has fulfilled a long-held dream of mine (collabing with someone, not the shoes) and also introduced me to some lovely people.
What’s your all time favorite ship?
Who has time for just one? ;3c Honestly, I care more about the characters and how the relationship – any relationship – between them changes them than I do about ~A Ship~ as a solid, bounded noun-object. I’ve got characters I like more and less and feelings about who does and doesn’t have chemistry in which directions with whom, but finding anything that agrees with those preferences is hard, harder when you take alloromanticism into account. I’ll play in any sandbox with cool toys, especially if other folks have already built sick sandcastles there.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
[kicks every single unfinished fic further under the bed] What nooo no WIPs here, everything on my account is either finished or does not exist
I’ve got a couple extra chapters of Sweeter Than floating around unposted, but 1. that fic’s a mess 2. high school Twixt and post-college Twixt are different people and trying to contort myself into three other me-shapes just cause people Like this fic is not something I’m super interested in 3. it’s headed for an emotional dip and I’d rather leave it where it is than post two chapters, stall out again, and leave folks with a bad end.
As for other fics... it’s looking more and more likely that v7 of my Yellow Brick Road AU will never actually make it out. >w>; I’ve got some really great ideas, but not enough to make me feel like I know what I’m doing, and that’s a big roadblock. Plus trying to engage with RT’s Atlas-Mantle worldbuilding in any serious capacity is... a headache. I can’t recommend the Happy Huntress Cinematic Universe enough, but it leaves some pretty big shoes to follow! And I’ve got small feet. <w<;
What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue’s fun, probably as an extension of characterization. I love tearing into what makes people tick, especially against the backdrop of their environment, the story they’re in, and the people they’re up against. Voice is a double-edged sword; I’ve been told my writing is really recognizable and individual, but on the other hand, I’ve been growing frustrated with with the limits of my narrative ability. There’s a strong rhythm I keep when I write (you might notice it here, even) but that leaves me feeling predictable and stale. I’m not sure I’m great at setting as a matter of course, but I’m pretty good at describing setpieces where the need comes up; that comes from my background in poetry, as does the fun I have with sublimating and abstracting complex imagery. And I think I bring some needed nuance to the universal. For good or ill, I don’t do what “everyone else” is doing.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Well, writing, for one thing. If I don’t know how something’s going to go and don’t have the urge to write it, it isn’t getting done, which means there’s a billion things that will never see the page and a few hundred more that are never getting finished. I lose momentum easily and have a hard time getting started, and I put way too much standing on finding a foothold with other people; as critical as I am of my work, I have high expectations for the stuff that passes muster, and it never seems to measure up. I’m also really uncreative. Yeah, I can mix up elements and extrapolate events, but coming up with things wholesale is really hard, which is why I avoid it wherever possible and steal/reskin stuff from other places instead.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Something along the lines of “Hoo boy, I am Not qualified for this but hopefully it’s decent anyway.” Maria’s Spanish lines haven’t been a big deal – I’ve used it sparingly and, as a Latin language, it should be easy for English-speaking audiences to pick up on the gist – but I’ve had a harder time with Tai’s Chinese, both because I have Even Less background there and because it is, of course, an entirely different language system. If I write it out in English or Romanized italics, am I colonizing it or changing the meaning? If I write it out in the presumed-original characters (presumed because it’s Google Translate and who knows if I’m even barking in the right forest), am I confusing or alienating my presumed-majority-English-speaking audience? Where should I put the translations? Should I put the translations? And for Frisk’s sign language, thinking back, are the brackets I used instead of quotes alienating/infantilizing? I like that different characters give the text between a different feel, but I’m not an ASL speaker – and I’m pretty sure the word is “speaker,” which would only reinforce that that demographic would rather I didn’t do that. It’s important for all these characters, I think, that they use non-English language where it makes sense; it’s part of who they are. But as a white monolingual English-speaker, I don’t think I can really weigh in.
What was the first fandom you ever wrote for?
Thaaaat’d be Pokémon, followed closely with Sonic the Hedgehog. Whether those fics are still on my ff.net account or not (pretty sure I’ve purged them, but you never know) I’ve still got a couple saved to a folder on my current laptop, ostensibly so I can look back and see how far I’ve come and more practically to allow for the possibility of furthering group cohesion through public shaming.
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
I still like the idea behind The Man Who Is Atlas, and Burning Bright (Still Awake) gets props for being my current fic, though it’s currently in that spot where I’m excited to get new chapters posted but also quietly marking everything up in red pen. I think Harbinger gets the crown here, at least for now.

Home Is Where The Hedgehog Is
Fandom: Sonic Movie (2020)
Rating: G
Summary: Living with Donut Lord and Pretzel Lady is super fun, even if there are dumb rules he has to follow sometimes. Sonic is going to hold onto it with everything he has.
The first in a one-shot collection of a hyperactive hedgehog trying his best to fit in with his newfound family, and two humans who want him to know he doesn't need to try at all.
MAJOR spoilers for the Sonic Movie!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Living in a house was much different than living in a cave.
For starters, the draft wasn’t nearly as bad, even when Sonic forgot to close the attic window at night. And now he had an actual, honest-to-goodness bed to burrow into when it really was that cold. Came with a blanket and pillow too, deluxe model!
The other thing that was different was the company, Tom and Maddie and Tom’s so-called “best friend”. Maybe he should have mentioned that one first, but hey, a hedgehog could only focus on so many new changes at one time.
Speaking of changes, a personal alarm clock wasn’t something he was expecting this morning.
“Good morning, Sonic!” Maddie’s head poked up past the attic trapdoor.
“Mmph…” The teen mumbled, curling into a tighter ball under the covers like it would make him invisible.
The woman hoisted herself up from the ladder and made her way to his side. “Come on, you promised you’d go to bed early tonight, so you can’t be complaining now. It’s time for breakfast, up and at ‘em.”
“Food?” A pair of ears perked out from the quill ball. Sonic’s head popped up soon after. “What kind of food?”
“Guess you’ll have to get up to find out, won’t you?” She winked at him and ruffled the fur on his forehead, then started heading back to the ladder.
There was a whoosh of wind and the pitter-patter of impossibly fast feet against the wooden floor, and suddenly Maddie was all alone in the attic.
“Come on slowpoke, I’m hungry!” Sonic called up to her from the hallway before he zoomed into the kitchen, sliding to a halt just in time to avoid crashing into the kitchen island. Tom was busy loading up three plates with eggs and bacon. He didn’t even flinch at the boy’s arrival.
“Morning, Sonic. What took you so long?” The man raised an eyebrow with a bit of a smirk as his comment made the hedgehog pout.
“It’s not my fault, you guys didn’t even wake me up! Ooh, is that my plate?”
“Ah, not yet,” Tom grabbed the offending plate and held it up out of Sonic’s reach. “Go wash your hands first.”
“But Tooooom…”
“You heard me the first time.”
“Ugh, fine. Why you hafta be such a stickler for rules? You were more fun on the road trip.”
“That’s because –” the man blinked and the teen was no longer there. He sighed good-naturedly as Maddie arrived looking just as frazzled.
“Day one,” she said with a smile and a slight giggle. Her arms found their way around his waist as he scraped grease off the skillet. “This might take some getting used to.”
“You’re telling me.” He tilted his head back to sneak a quick kiss to her cheek. “But I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
“Me neither.” The woman hummed against him. A breeze picked up.
“Hey, if you wanted to do lovey-dovey couple things you coulda just said that.” Sonic sat at the table with his arms folded, kicking his legs out and giving them a scrunched up look like he couldn’t decide whether to be grossed out or resigned.
Maddie laughed and gave her husband another kiss, then released him from her hold to help carry their food. Tom shook his head, giving the boy a look. His response was a smirk and eyes too large to be innocent.
“Okay smart aleck, I expect to see that plate clean before you even think of excusing yourself from this table.”
By the way Sonic was eyeing the food laid out in front of him, it didn’t seem like a hard task.
Through breakfast, the three of them ate and chatted together like they had been doing it for years. There were a few mishaps – Sonic had a very bad habit of talking with his mouth full, and accidentally ratted Tom out when the man tried to sneak some bacon to the dog – but the energy didn’t wane at all. It wasn’t until Maddie pulled Sonic over to help her with the dishes that things started to quiet down. Tom, having made breakfast this time and contractually not required to help this time, went to change into his uniform.
The woman was making small talk as she washed the food off and handed each item to the teen to place in the dishwasher, and he’d occasionally interject with comments or questions. Just as they finished, however, Maddie noticed as she dried off her hands that Sonic had stopped talking entirely and was just staring at the hand towel she’d given him.
“Something on your mind?”
“Huh? Oh yeah, I mean no, it’s fine.” He was quick to toss the towel on the counter and rubbed the back of his head. “I just realized that I’ve never done this before.”
“Washing dishes?”
“That too but…all of it, I guess. It’s kinda weird. You guys have this whole routine thing going on and that’s cool, but for me it feels…. I dunno, more important? It’s dumb.”
He was starting to fidget in place, obviously wanting to say or do something else but not sure how to bring it up. Maddie frowned a little in thought and crouched so she was at the hedgehog’s level.
“Do you mean eating breakfast? Or – ah.” She gave him a reassuring smile. “You know, having company in everyday things is nice. I used to take it for granted.”
Sonic looked at her sharply. “What do you mean?”
“Well, Tom and I married not long before I started vet school. We had been so used to being around each other for every little thing that it felt like they weren’t ‘special’ anymore. I think that’s how it can get for a lot of people, honestly. But when I started school, we didn’t see each other nearly as often. I was gone all day for classes, and he had to pick up a second job to help make ends meet, which usually meant evening shifts. We barely had the chance to even sit down for a decent meal together, most days.”
The teen’s expression was opening up into something more vulnerable. “Was it hard?”
“Very hard. We still loved each other, so not being able to just be together without work or school in the way made it hard sometimes. But it was because we loved each other that those times we could just sit back and relax became so much more precious. It’s been a while since those days, but I try not to forget the feeling.”
She reached out and took his hand, making sure to keep steady eye contact. He was stock-still.
“It’s alright to find joy in doing things with people, even if they’re simple things like eating breakfast or doing chores. No one’s going to think it’s strange that you’re loving it. Especially not me or Tom. Okay?”
Sonic was staring at their connected hands. There was a barrier around his emotions in that moment that looked very close to crumbling. With a quiet sniff and a nod, he gave her a huge grin.
“Okay.”
Tom’s voice from the other room broke the moment.
“Why’d it get quiet all of a sudden? You two aren’t planning my untimely demise right now, are you?”
“You bet your badge we are!” The hedgehog called back, already settling into his more common mischievous persona. He made a motion to zip away, then stopped to give Maddie a tight hug first. She almost lost her balance from the impact but returned it anyway.
“Thanks, Maddie.”
“Always, kiddo.”
A blur, a whoosh, and he was gone.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A/N: I'm back on my Sonic kick from forever ago, and there's no obvious end in sight. I love the found family trope, I love that it happened in the movie, and I love that Sonic is allowed to express real negative emotions (screw you Sega, do our blue boy justice). Have no idea how many of these I'm going to do nor how long they might get, nor do I know if they’ll all stay rated G. We’ll see.

PLAYLIST SHUFFLE TAG!
Okay, so @viterbofangirl tagged me in this and I need to start learning to post my own shit, so what the hell, why not?
Rules: you can usually tell a lot about a person by the type of music they listen to! put your favorite playlist on shuffle and list the first 10 15 songs, then tag 10 people. no skipping!
(I couldn’t stop at 10 so I added 5 more, sue me)
I have very random music taste and I listen to my music on shuffle alot, so I made a playlist of the ones I like the most (that way I don’t hafta skip 150 songs to get to the one I feel like) so I’m gonna use that one.
1) History of Violence - Theory of a Deadman
Hoo boy starting off light huh?.... Yeah so, I was in the drive thru at Sonic when I first heard this on the radio and was immediately like “holy shit”. Instead of like metaphors and poetic subtlety, it’s just straight up like “here’s a poor abused woman who resorted to murdering her shitty boyfriend/husband cuz she couldn’t take it dum dum dum”. Even though the actual situation is not the same, this song is perfect for getting across the internal issues and turmoil of my character Mikey. Its so perfect I’m even planning to animate something for it...... if I ever get around to learning animation that is.....
2) The Vengeful One - Disturbed
Two songs in and I look kinda emo.... But hey this song is soooooo cathartic! I love me a good heavy rock song, and the drums and electric guitar are perfect for my ears to absorb. This song gives off a feeling of overwhelming power mixed with a coldness and disdain for the bad in the world. Obviously, thats not my usual temperment, but its an interesting one to explore! Especially when I’m trying to get into the head of characters that exude that like my OCs Spark or Ryu. Plus its fun to sing in the car X)
3) Enter Sandman - Metallica
Okay this one is just a classic! Same thing with the drums and guitar they both slap SOOOOO GOOD. I don’t really associate this song with any of my characters or fandom favorites, but it DOES give me a super strong urge to learn the drums. EXXXXXXXXIT LIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT! OFF TO NEVER NEVERLAND!!
4) We Are Giants - Lindsey Stirling ft. Dia Frampton
I don’t really to listen to music by band or artist, but I LOVE Lindsey Stirling!!! She’s probably my favorite musician! This is such a good song, especially for someone like me. Its a positive song that talks about feeling alone in a crowd and unimportant to the world, but how you really do matter and shouldn’t be afraid to dream big and shoot for the stars. It really speaks to me and the vocalization is so good (especially for singing), not to mention the official music video is animated and AMAZING!
5) Cetus - Lensko NCS
I dunno if anyone knows this song, but damn its good. Its one of those Royalty-Free songs that people look up for their channels, which is how I found it in the first place, but I loved it immediately. Its a peppy 8-bit electronic bop that turns a little Irish jig at the end and honestly I think if I ever start an animation channel I’m totally gonna use it! (Also go support Lensko he make good beats!)
6) Sanctuary - Utada Hikaru
I did not grow up with Kingdom Hearts, and only played KH2 within the past year n’ a half. But good God, the moment that Cinematic Opening came on and this song started playing I swear I astral projected into a daze of feelings without names. I know that “Simple and Clean” is the quintessential Kingdom Heart song that gives everyone feelings, but IMHO Sanctuary blows it out of the water. As beautiful as the animation was, or how curious the occasional backwards lyrics are, or how weird it is having high-res Goofy and Donald in what is essentially an anime opening, I really can’t be distracted from this song when I play.
7) Chemical Plant Zone (Rock Remix) - Zerobadniks
Chemical Plant Song is like, one of the TOP Sonic songs by popular vote (and we know how awesome the Sonic series is musically so thats saying something!), but I could never quite vibe with the normal 8-bit version. I think I first heard this as someone’s ringtone and was immediately like “THATS PERFECT THATS EXACTLY HOW I NEED IT!”. The rock makes the song soooo much better and honestly gives the song the perfect vibe. Unfortunately, it took FOREVER to find cuz none of the Rock Covers of this song were the right one. In fact, tbh, I’m not even sure whether Zerobadniks is the correct artist..... that’s just who everybody was crediting when I found it.
(imma include the link i found since its a little hard to find: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqJiZEM6aPI )
8) The Wolf - SIAMES
YOU WANNA TALK ABOUT ANIMATED MUSIC VIDEOS???? THIS IS A GOD-TIER ANIMATED MUSIC VIDEO. I found the video first, and seriously, if you haven’t seen it YOU NEED TO!!! The beat works perfectly with the images on screen and the story being portrayed is really intriguing, with the lyrics adding to atmosphere without necessarily describing the visuals shown. Even without the animation, the song itself is a banger. It bring to mind the feeling of intense motion forward, but unable to decide whether its movement TOWARD something or AWAY from something. I love listening to this on a nighttime drive.
9) Burn the House Down - AJR
If you ask me, the best way to make a pop song better is to add either violins or trumpets. For this song, it was definitely the trumpets that first caught my attention, and the rest of the song kept me listening. I don’t really know how to describe the vibe of this song, and I don’t have a specific character or story in mind when I listen to it, so its a little hard for me to talk about it. I think the best way I can describe this song and what draws me to it is a feeling of nonchalant go-with-the-flow attitude to shenaniganry. Almost an undertone of “We’re hooligans in a situation that we probably should get out of, but hey we’ve got life and each other so why worry?” At least that’s the closest I can get to a verbal description heh...
10) Slim Pickens Does the Right Thing and Rides the Bomb to Hell - The Offspring
DANCE, FUCKER, DANCE, LET THE MOTHERFUCKER BURN!!!
So this also has a KICKASS animated music video, but its technically combined with the song “Dividing by Zero”. Now the video works SO well with both, and the shifting artstyles reflect the differing tones of the songs PERFECTLY. However, I have a preference for both the animation and the song on the Slim Pickens half. Its fun to listen to and sing at the top of your lungs and its SO CATHARTIC. Again I cant really describe what my head does when I hear it, but I think you can probably feel a similar vibe if you watch the music video.
11) No Heaven - DJ Champion
The first time I finished the original Borderlands, I had been playing for days on end, had just finished a long battle with the Destroyer, and sitting back relieved to have beaten it and reflecting on how much I had enjoyed the adventure. Then this song started playing. For what I believe was forty minutes this song looped on my TV while the credits rolled. By the time the credits finished I was pulling up the song to listen to again! What an absolutely PERFECT cherry to add to this experience. This song perfectly encapsulated the chaotic, trigger-happy, morally ambiguous craziness that I had enjoyed and absorbed in this game. Every time I hear it now, I imagine myself in the wastelands of Pandora, driving haphazardly across the sandy dunes as my companions and I shoot and blow up everything in sight. You know, living the dream.......
12) Hit & Run (Wolfgang Lohr Remix) -  The Electric Swing Circus
I fucking LOVE electro-swing! The electronic beats and rhythm blend so well with the wild and energetic freedom of swing. A lot of electro-swing gives me a vibe of wild movement, reckless abandon, and freedom from constraint. I think this song melds all of these feelings the best! As the last song might have indicated, despite my general nice and sweet temperament, there is a part of me deep down that is an absolute gremlin secretly enamored with chaos, insanity, and a general disdain for law and authority X). But whereas anything Borderlands related has a more “morality is an illusion blowing shit up is real” air about it, this song is far more peppy. More of a “good-hearted but insane” type of chaos, like an 100mph car chase where you end up sailing over the train tracks JUST as the train passes.
.... I may have gotten a bit off track lol
13) Kickstart my Heart - Motley Crue
I love this song, but I have to be VERY careful when and where I listen to this. I love songs that make me feel like I’m going a million miles per hour, like I’m gotdam Sonic the Hedgehog. Unfortunately, I may or may not have had multiple instances of listening to this song in the car and abruptly realizing that I’m going like 15mph above the speed limit...... So yeah, regardless of absolutely perfect it feels to play this song while speeding down a nearly empty highway, please be careful and drive responsibly!!!
14) I’m Born to Run - American Authors
Imma just up and say it. This song is a Sonic song; like not like actually from the series but a song for the character. This song encapsulates Sonic as a character better than some of his ACTUAL THEMES (and remember Sonic music are bangers!). Its a song about freedom, living life as it comes, and not letting anything slow you down. Frankly I’m surprised they didn’t make this song FOR the Sonic series, or even the movie! Speaking of which, ironically I heard this song right after watching the Sonic movie in theaters, so yeah there’s no way I can associate it with anything else.
15) Opa Opa - Antique
Oh, what a PERFECT way to end this list! This may be one of my absolute favorite songs of all time! I don’t remember exactly how I found this song... I think I had just relistened to Dalar Mehndi’s “Tunak Tunak Tun” and was looking for other catchy non-english songs and BOY HOWDY I found one! I know nothing about the band or what the song’s about (its in greek and i dont speak it), but this song is just a masterpiece of retro, pop, and dance sounds. This song feels like the musical and lyrical manifestation of dance and movement. I really REALLY wish I could dance JUST so I can express how happy and free this song makes me feel! This is the BEST song for me to end this list with!
***********************************************************************************
JESUS, this got long..... Sorry about that XD. It was fun though, and hopefully somebody was vaguely interested in my ramblings.
Guess I need to tag people now? How about @tharkflark1, @rockmilkshake, @neonbuck, @drawingsdrawingseverywhere, @birthgiverofbirds, @puccafangirl, @kalcat, @biblestudybussybopsbabey, @monstrous-milktea, and @memecage! I think there are a couple of people here I haven’t talked to though soooooo..... hi, I hope you don’t mind the tag X)
Anyway hope you enjoyed and/or want to do this too! This took for-fucking-EVER to type, so imma go fuck off and watch youtube or something now...

Their Hero Academia – Chapter 56: Shout It All Out
Presenting the next raw and unedited chapter of my on-going, next-gen, My Hero Academia fic, Their Hero Academia!
Earlier chapters can be found here
The edited version of this chapter will probably be up on AO3 in a day or two.
The Nomu grabbed Ground Zero and pulled, his leg separating from his body in a messy spray of blood.  Both parts of him dropped to the ground with a sick, wet sound.  The Nomu let loose a triumphant war cry, like some dinosaur from the ancient past.  But this time, Shota didn’t make a sound, didn’t scream.  He couldn’t… he just couldn’t…
Ground Zero locked eyes with him.  “You did this,” he said, jabbing an accusing finger in Shota’s direction.  “You did this to me!  It’s your fault!”
“I didn’t,” he began, “I didn’t mean to!  I’m sorry!  I’m so sorry!”
“Your fault…
“Your fault…
“Your fault…
“Your fault!”
Shota bolted awake, with a scream that briefly made the furniture and windows rattle, before he gained enough awareness of where he was.  He was in his bedroom, in his home.  The walls lined with Hero posters, the shelves filled with books on Heroes and every available surface crammed with different Hero collectibles.  Even bringing some of his things to school had done little to make a dent in everything he had.  Deku, Lemillion, Shoto, Ingenium, countless others… and, of course, Ground Zero.
A shelf of Ground Zero action figures and statues all seemed to stare at him accusingly.  The Hero’s trademark “Kill” yell seemed to twist in the darkness into the same cry of pain he’d witnessed firsthand.  Even the ones with a more neutral expressions seemed to stare directly into his soul, accusing him on ruining the life and career of one of the greatest Heroes of their time.
The door to his room flew open and his parents burst into his room.  “Shota!” Dad called out.  “Are you all right?”   His already tired features were marred by concern and even more exhaustion.
Mom moved to his bedside, kneeling beside it.  Like Dad, she looked like she hadn’t been sleeping well.  Not that he had either.  Shota was sleeping a lot, but barely a few hours at a time, before the dreams took him again.   “Oh, Baby,” she said, running a hand through his hair.  “Another nightmare?”
He nodded, mutely. His voice frightened him now. He’d used his Quirk to literally unmake the Nomu, after he’d already put a hole in it.  Such was the power of the raw sonic energy he could unleash, doing everything from sonar to raw destructive force to changing the solidity of matter to vibrating it to the point its molecules lost all cohesion. And none of it had been enough.
“About Katsuki?” Mom asked. “And what happened?”
He nodded again.  “I’m sorry,” he said, each word barely a whisper. “I didn’t mean to make you worry.”
“Shota,” Dad said. “We’re your parents.  Worrying about you is our job.”
“Comes with being fam,” Mom added.  “We’re gonna get through this, together.”
It had been days now, since the Nomu attack.  He’d barely left his bed in all that time.  He just… couldn’t.  Couldn’t even look at his phone, though it had buzzed time and time again with texts from his friends.  What was there to get through?  He’d messed up.  Ruined someone’s life.  Ruined lots of people’s lives, not just Ground Zero’s, but his family’s as well.  And then, what about all the people that only Ground Zero could have saved?
His godfather may have told him he had more potential than anybody else in the class, and for a moment, that had boosted his spirits.  Until the terrible reality had set in.
It didn’t matter who said it.   He knew whose fault it was.
***
The door to his hospital room opens with a slight click. Shota ignores it; it was probably his parents.  Uncle Deku had called them and they’d come as quickly as they could, trying to comfort him. But they had left for a few minutes, trying to let him get some rest while they spoke to one of the doctors.
“Shinso?” a voice asks.  It’s Doctor Izumi—Aunt Eri.  “You’ve got a visitor.”
There’s a tension in her voice.  “For the record, I think this is a bad idea.  You should both be resting.  You’re just a few hours out of major surgery, Katsuki.  You don’t need any stress right now…”
A harsh, hoarse voice interrupts her.  “Just… give me a minute with the kid, okay?  Please.”
He hears her sigh.  “Okay.  Ten minutes. No more than that.”
She was going to leave him alone with Ground Zero?  Shota doesn’t think he can face that kind of wrath. Why would she leave him alone with someone who must hate him?  Instinctively, he turns away, pulling the thin hospital blankets up over his head to hide.  Maybe if he stays there long enough, Ground Zero would just go away.
“I know you’re there, Shinso.”
That strikes him as odd.  Ground Zero almost never calls people by their actual names, either in a personal or professional context.  There’s a long running debate on some of the fandom boards over whether or not he’s giving affectionate nicknames or honestly doesn’t remember people’s names.  But it’s out of character enough that Shota risks turning and pulling the covers down just enough for his eyes to poke out.
It definitely looks like Ground Zero, sitting in a wheelchair, dressed in a hospital gown.  But Shota’s eyes are drawn to the absence of a leg.  His fault.  If Ground Zero hadn’t been protecting him, he’d have fought the Nomu some other way, wouldn’t have gotten caught like that…
Ground Zero stays silent for a moment.  He’s not known to be a thoughtful man.  He’s known for his quick action and quick temper.  But from working with him and him being a family friend, Shota knows it’s only half of the truth.  He’s just as capable of kindness and gentleness as anyone.  He just doesn’t let it show a lot where other people can see.  But Shota doesn’t expect to see any of that now.
“Go ahead,” Shota says, his voice barely a whisper.  “Yell at me.  Tell me I screwed up.  I deserve it.”
“Why would I yell at you?” Ground Zero asks. He doesn’t sound surprised, though.  Was he expecting Shota to act like that?  Maybe his parents had said something.  “Near as I can tell, you saved my life.  Three times. Pretty sure that makes you the hero of the hour.”
He inches the covers a little lower.   “But… but you got hur, .because of me.”  Tears start welling up in his eyes.  “You lost your leg!”
“That thing would have killed me if you hadn’t gotten its attention. My head was spinning so bad I couldn’t see straight.  No way I was getting up in time to fight it off.  So you did the heroic thing and put yourself in danger.  Even though I told you not to.”
The smallest of smiles tugs at Ground Zero’s lips.  “Reminds me of somebody else I know.”
Shota isn’t sure who that might be, but he just keeps eye contact. Ground Zero continues.  “And then you blasted the damn thing to smithereens before it could finish me off.  And Deku told me you were doing first aid when he showed up.  Quick thinking.  Might have bled out if you hadn’t done that.”
“But… but I didn’t know Deku was going to show up!  I should have…”
“Rescue ops were always gonna get there sooner or later. But in an emergency, every second counts.  You did good.”
“But if I wasn’t there… you wouldn’t have gotten hurt at all!” Shota protests.
“Ground Zero shakes his head.  “There’s no way of knowing that.  This kinda life, every time you go out, every fight you get in, it’s a risk. I always used to say that no second rate Villain was gonna do me in… but a lot of that’s just trash talk.  All it takes is one guy getting lucky… and this one did.”
“But,” Shota begins, “aren’t you mad?  Aren’t you angry?”  Why wasn’t he yelling at him like he deserved?
“Of course I am,” Ground Zero says.  “But not at you.  I’m angry at the people who were behind the Nomu attacks.  I’m, okay, I’m angry at a lot of things.  But not at you.  Never at you.”
Shota looks up at him, eyes wide.  This still isn’t making any sense.
Ground Zero takes his hand and gives it a little squeeze. “Because of you, Shinso, I get to go back to my kids and my husband.  Better missing a leg than being dead.  I… I don’t say this often.  So… thank you.  For saving my life.”
Shota only manages to nod mutely at that.  This all seems so unreal.  Even with Ground Zero himself saying it, he can’t quite believe it.
“And getting hurt in the line of duty…  time was, I’d say the best Heroes didn’t get hurt.  But that ain’t true.  The best Heroes… if they get hurt saving somebody… that’s a pretty good trade off.  Maybe we saved each other out there.”
He gives Shota a look.  “So… stop blaming yourself, okay?  I don’t wanna hear about you moping or nothing.  Get better and give some Villains hell for me, okay?”
“Oh…okay,” Shota says, quietly.
“What was that?”
“Okay!” It’s the loudest he’s managed to be in several hours. Not a shout, but above the whisper he’s been talking at.
It’s a lie.  He’s not okay.  It’s not okay.
But maybe if he says it enough…
***
Hound Dog was trying his best to help Shota cope with the memories of what he’d experienced. Trauma was never easy on anyone and his was tied up with a lot of guilt.  But the mental health field for Heroes and Hero-trainees had come a long way since his parents’ day.  He’s not expected to just walk it off and go right back into the action.
Hound Dog was surprisingly good with teenagers, despite his fearsome appearance.  Carefully, he’s walked Shota back through that day.  News drones and surveillance drones from the Hero Commission have provided plenty of footage for them to look over, always in short spurts, never more than he could handle at a time.
“Okay,” Hound Dog said. “Now that we’ve looked at the footage, let’s treat this as an after mission report.  We can stop at any time, but I want to see how far we can get. Start by telling me where it began.”
“Ground Zero and I were on f-f-foot patrol,” Shota said, forcing himself to spit the word out.  “The Nomu came out of nowhere, like it was dropped out of the sky.  Ground Zero threw me out of the way and then engaged. He told me to stay down.”
Hound Dog nodded encouragingly.  Shota took a breath and went on.  The first time watching the video, they hadn’t even gotten this far.  This was progress.  He could do this.
“Ground Zero then engaged with the Nomu.  But… nothing he did even slowed it down.  All his explosions were burning it, but it didn’t stop it.  At all.  Finally…”
The meaty sound of one of the Nomu’s fists hitting Ground Zero. The cry of pain and alarm from the Hero. The terribly ringing clanging where Ground Zero hit a street light.  The dull thud of a body hitting the ground.  The Nomu’s terrible roar…
“We can stop,” Hound Dog said, kindly.  He put both hands on Shota’s shoulders and Shota was aware he’d been shaking.  He put his own hands on top of Hound Dog’s, fingers digging into the soft fur.   “Stay with me.  You’re here in my office.  Deep breaths. Come back to the present.”
Shota took in slow breaths and steadied himself.  “I can go on,” he said.
“Only if you’re sure.”
He nodded.  He wasn’t sure, not really, but he wanted to try.   “I can.  The Nomu struck Ground Zero, hard enough to send him flying.  He hit a street light and didn’t get back up right away.  It was… it was going to kill him.  Right then and there.  There was no way Ground Zero was going to get up in time.
“I had to do something.”
“Even though Ground Zero told you not to engage,” Hound Dog prompted.
“It was going to kill him!” Shota said, more forcefully than he’d meant to.  But for just a moment, he’d felt for sure that he hadn’t made a mistake getting involved.  “I didn’t have a choice.”
Hound Dog nodded again. “Go on.”
“So I hit it with one of my really big screams. One of the kind where I can rally do some damage. Maybe a little too strong, because I punched a hole right through it.  But that still didn’t stop it!  All I did was get its attention.”
Dead skin.  A pulsating, exposed brain.  A hole all the way through its chest, absent any blood or gore.  Burns all over its body, one dead eye.  And a roar that froze him in his tracks.  All it would have taken was one more second and it would have killed him.   He’d braced himself for the terrible blow…
“It attacked me.  But I was too afraid to move.  But by then, Ground Zero had recovered.  He didn’t… he didn’t look all that steady on his feet. But he attacked it anyway.  And it grabbed him and…”
The wet sound of flesh and muscle and nerves separating.  The splatter of blood.  The scream…
He was shaking again. Hard.  The room seemed too small.  He couldn’t breathe.  Shota let out a scream that quickly surpassed normal human volumes and went straight into the hypersonic.  Everything in the small office began to rattle, being shaken by the radiating sonic force.  Hound Dog clapped his hands over his sensitive ears, whining in pain, his jaw clenched tightly behind his muzzle.
The door to the office flew open, and Uncle Shota was there, his Quirk active and eyes glowing red. Shota’s scream faded back into human levels, leaving him coughing.  They’d done this on purpose.  Uncle Shota had been outside, with a decibel monitor.  He couldn’t hear their conversation, but just in case he had lost control, he could step in.
“I’m sorry…” Shota said quietly.
Uncle Shota and Hound Dog exchanged a look.
***
The car pulled to a stop outside a rocky quarry.  His godfather was at the wheel, the school counselor, Hound Dog, crammed into the passenger seat.  It was Thursday afternoon.  They’d ended Wednesday’s after his destructive scream.
He missed his friends so much it hurt.  Toshi and Izumi and Asuka and Haimawari…  But he couldn’t face them.  And he definitely couldn’t face Katsumi.  Not with what he’d done to her family…
He got out of the car. He wasn’t sure why they were here, but he trusted Uncle Shota and Hound Dog.  He looked at them, expectantly.
Hound Dog and Uncle Shota both held what looked like fancy headphones.  “We’re going to try a little scream therapy,” Hound Dog said. “Basically, I want you to focus on all your feelings and emotions about everything that happened.  Gather it all up, and then scream and let it go.”
“But,” Shota began, “last time, I lost control and…”
“That’s why we’re here,” Uncle Shota said.  “The local government is planning on demolishing this anyway to make way for a new highway and they’ve got a crew with earth-moving Quirks lined up. Anything you destroy, it won’t matter and might even save them some time.   But I’m still here just in case.  So you don’t have to worry about hurting anyone or anything.”
Shota sucked in a sharp breath.  There was fear, bubbling under his skin.  Every time he thought too hard about what had happened, his Quirk welled up and turned on everything around him.  He’d thought for a minute, just maybe, he was getting to understand it… and then he’d lost control again.  And now they wanted him too?
Uncle Shota came over to him and bent down.  “Everybody carries their traumas, Shota.  Me, Deku, your parents, even Mic.  But we have to be brave and face them.  And sometimes, facing them is running at them head on.  But you’ve got my permission to be afraid.  And you’ve got my permission to let it all out, right here.  You’ll feel better.  Can you do that?”
He nodded.  “I…  Yes,” Shota said quietly.
“Good,” Hound Dog said, fitting the headphones over his ears, while Uncle Shota did the same. “Take your time.  Let your memories go.  And when you’re ready… let it all out.”
Shota took a deep breath and closed his eyes.  Everything was still so fresh, he could see everything that happened so easily.  Still hear it.  Still feel the terror of that moment.  The coppery scent of blood, the wet stickiness of it on his hands as he tried to keep Ground Zero from bleeding out.  The screams of the Nomu.  The coldness in his own body as terror took him.  The feeling of his heart about to pound out of its chest.
The distant, fading look in Ground Zero’s eyes.
The sound of tearing flash
The dead flesh of the Nomu.
Ground Zero’s scream as he was torn into pieces.
There was so much blood… Ground Zero was dying in his hands. He’d started almost making sense, trying to tell him that it wasn’t his fault, trying to make sure Shota was the one who was safe.  But then he’d started to slip away, talking about his husband, about his daughter, and about his son.  Asking for them.  Telling them he was sorry.  He lost track of where he was and of who Shota was…
If Deku had been even a minute or two late in getting there…
Fear
Death
Guilt
Fear
Death
Guilt
FearDeathGuilt
FearDeathGuild
ALL HIS FAULT!
Shota screamed, without focus, without care.  For all that he was a carefree young man, he was also deeply aware of the power of his Quirk.  Every frequency he could scream at did something just a little bit different, many of them highly destructive.  He had to have some control.  But here, for the first time in forever, he deliberately allowed himself to just let go. To scream.  To let all his power go out into the universe.
As he screamed, he got louder, rapidly shifting up to higher and higher frequencies, way past loud, way past cacophonic, way past anything.  The very air around him seemed to ripple and distort, so great was the power that he was unleashing that even the very air itself was being rent asunder. Raw sound slammed into the walls of the quarry, turning rock into dust in an instant, causing yet more to come crashing down.
Shota screamed, putting into it all of his fear, all of his rage, all his frustration, all his guilt. All the hurt, all the pain, everything he was feeling.  The world had lost a great Hero and he’d been unable to do anything to stop it.  He’d been so scared, so certain he was going to die and then so certain that Ground Zero was going to die.  There was nothing more he wanted in this world than to be a Hero, like his parents, like Uncle Deku, like Shoto, and Ground Zero…
And so he screamed. He screamed at the unfairness of it all. At the end of a major Hero’s career. At the terrors that a kid his age should never have seen. At the helplessness he felt.  At everything, at all the feelings he couldn’t name and all the terrors that still rose up in his heart.
He screamed and screamed and screamed, until there was nothing left to scream for.  Shota sank to his knees, gasping for breath.  The air was thick with dust from the demolished rock, sending him coughing.  Strong arms wrapped around him and picked him up; it was Uncle Shota.
“You did good,” Uncle Shota said.  “Feel better?”
Shota coughed, hard. His throat felt clogged and scratchy. And he felt tired, so very tired. He’d pushed his Quirk to its absolute limit, unleashed its complete destructive power, let every ounce of energy he had flow through it.
“I do,” he said.
And he realized that he meant it.  Somehow, in letting all that out, he felt like it wasn’t weighing him down quite so much. Before sleep took him, a moment of clarity set itself in.  In stark relief, Ground Zero’s words, Uncle Shota’s words, the events of that day, all played before him.  That had been a monster.  So many Heroes had nearly died from how powerful they were and that was without his being there.  Ground Zero had taken a blow, because the creature was far faster than anything that big should have been, gotten injured because he was trying to fight while still dazed.  It was a fight that would have happened no matter what.  A fight that could only have happened because he wasn’t killed then and there. What had happened was terrible… but it wasn’t his fault.  He had seen far more than he should… but it wasn’t his fault. Forced to bear terrible burdens… but it wasn’t his fault.
Wasn’t his fault…
***
“And then it grabbed Ground Zero and severed his leg from his body,” Shota said.  He had to take a deep breath to steady himself and he gripped the arm of the plush chair to keep himself from shaking, but he’d gotten even further along in his statements than ever before.  Progress.
“And then I panicked,” he added.  “And used a full power blast from my Quirk on it.  Completely destroyed it.”
He looked down.  “I shouldn’t have.  Even if it was a robot, I didn’t know that.  A Nomu’s still kind of alive.  And Heroes aren’t supposed to use lethal force, unless there’s no other choice.”
Hound Dog nodded.  “That probably would have come under review from the Hero Commission.  But that’s also typical of big events like this in general.  Go on, please.”
Shota took another breath. “After that, I tried to remember what first aid I could for a severed limb.  Try to stop the bleeding, put pressure on the wound.  Maybe I should have tried calling for help first... but I felt like I had to do something, anything.  I was scared and feeling pretty guilty.  And I was crying so bad I could barely see straight…
“And then Unc… Deku.  Deku showed up.  He got Ground Zero to the hospital.  Just in time. He saved his life.”
Hound Dog nodded again. “Based on what you’ve said, it sounds like you saved his life too.  At least two, possibly three times.  What do you think about that?”
Shota hesitated. Ground Zero had said the same thing. He didn’t think he was wrong to get involved.  Not anymore. Not completely, anyway.  “I think I tried to,” he said.  “I know it was going to kill him the first time. Everything after that…  I don’t know.  Still trying to sort that out.”
“That’s okay,” Hound Dog told him.  “You don’t have to have it all figured out now.  But that you’re trying to sort it out, rather than simply declaring your own fault, is a sign that you’re becoming ready to deal with those feelings. That’s good.  You’re talking more too.  And louder.  Have you noticed?”
That got a nod.  “Yeah,” he said.  “I don’t know… but maybe letting everything out like that, that helped push me past something.
“…Thank you.”
Hound Dog flashed a small grin behind his muzzle.  “It’s my job to help you with your mental health.  But you’re welcome.”
The counselor scratched something on the notepad he was holding.   “How do you feel about going back to school?”
That was that ten million yen question, wasn’t it?  Did he still want to be a Hero?  Seemed like had an awful lot of people still believing in him.   He’d even checked his phone messages today and gotten one from Red Riot, a photo of Ground Zero doing physical therapy and the simple word “Thanks.” Somehow, instead of making him feel guilty, it made him feel pretty good.  Like he’d done something right.
“I’d…,” he began, “I’d like to try.  Got a lot of people believing in me.  Hate to let them down.”
Again, Hound Dog was silent for a long moment, before he spoke again.  “I’m glad to hear it.  I’ll sign off on it.  Welcome back, Mister Shinso.”
***
Carefully, Shota placed the last of his things in the drawer of his dorm room dresser.  He had put away his Ground Zero statues though.  He didn’t feel much guilt, but he knew that a few days wasn’t enough to get rid of it entirely.  One less reminder was probably a good thing for now.  He’d probably put them out eventually.
Toshi and his friends had been around to welcome him back.  They’d been a little cautious, unsure of what to expect from him. Definitely tiptoeing around what had happened.  He didn’t blame them.  Of course, if the situations were reversed, he’d probably be more than a little clueless and would have relied on Asuka or Izumi to rein him in.  He knew he tended to get a little excitable and not think things all the way through.  But they were all happy to have him back.  And he’d been missing them so much.  Just being around them had made him feel better.  Maybe this would be all right after all.
“Hey.”
Shota looked over to the doorway of his room and found Kirishima-Bakugo standing there.  She didn’t look angry, which was rare.  She didn’t even have that smile she got before she punched something.  She just looked worn out and tired.  It was a lot like how he felt, really.
“Oh,” he said.  “Ah, hi.  I’m…”
She held up a hand.  “Nope, no talking, Shinso.  Not right now.”  She was using his name?  Just like her dad had…
Kirishima-Bakugo walked into his room, not bothering to ask permission.  She looked him over and briefly closed her eyes.  He could see her lips moving, as though she was rehearsing what she wanted to say.   “Look,” she said, “I’m not good with words, and I definitely don’t need anything interfering with my rep around here.  So I’m only going to say this once and you don’t get to tell anybody else about this. Do you understand me?”
Shota nodded.  This wasn’t her usual threats or even her banter or sarcasm.  This was full on sincerity.  He’d never seen anything like this from her before.
Before he could even fully process that, she had her arms around him and pulled him close.  He was the shortest in the class, but she wasn’t much taller, just enough so that her chin rested on top of his head.  She moved her head slightly, so her mouth was right by his ear.
“Thank you,” she said, “for saving my dad.  He told us what you did.  Thank you. Thank you.  Thank you.”  With every word, she squeezed him tighter.
“Can’t… breathe…” he gasped.
“Oh!” Kirishima-Bakugo let him go.  “Sorry, Loud Kid, I…  Sorry.”
He felt tears well up in his eyes.  “I…  I’m…”
“Oh, hell no,” she said, firmly.  “No crying.  Absolutely no crying… ‘cause if you cry, then I’m gonna…”
They cried.  And for a moment, the world was a strange, wet, mixed up place.  But after a moment, Kirishima-Bakugo got control over herself.
She gave him a small smile. A true, sincere, and actual smile. Shota thought she should do it more often.  It looked good on her.  “Glad to have you back, Loud Kid.”
It was good to be back.

Winchesters meet the Phantoms Ch. 1
Fandom: Supernatural, Danny Phantom Crossover
Summary: When Daniel Fenton thought he would meet real hunters, he never thought it would be like this. When his mentor said he was taking him to meet an old friend of his, he never expected to meet two hunters and an angel... or that His Mentor and the angel would talk like mothers of kids.
Danny Fenton tugged on his long black sleeves, sneaking glances at the two older men in the room. He really didn't want to be here. When Clockwork told him he was going to visit an old friend he never thought he would feel like it usually was when his and Tucker's mom got together. Let alone that he would meet this two hunters in the oddest of circumstances...
"And that isn't even the last time that he abused me for time travel." Danny's mentor shook his head, taking a drink from his cup. Danny blushed as he heard the older of the brother's chuckle. The taller of the two gave an understanding smile to the embarrassed teen.
"It was important..." Danny mumbled, even though he knew the two talking wouldn't hear him.
"I know what you mean." Came the simple response from the angel in the room. Clockwork chuckled, sparing a glance at the two men sitting in the other side of the motel room. Danny smiled at the now sheepish looking Winchester brothers.
"The punchline? First time almost got him killed."Clockwork shook his head, Danny felt his ears heat up at that reminder, not his fault the sonic shriek takes a lot out of him.
"nearly got ME killed." Castiel shook his head, Danny bit back a smile when a blush took over Dean's features. At least he wasn't the only one who didn't have a great experience at time travel.
"Oh, and of course he decided to come back again. Something about acne, and his mom's college fling? You can imagine that went very bad very quickly."
"It was life or death!" Danny tried to explain to the brothers, which pulled chuckle from them.
"It's okay Danny, trust me we understand" Sam responded, shaking his head.
"It's a miracle my charge even came back to present day." Cas responded. "Given a few more seconds, I couldn't have pulled him back to the present with certainty. Yet he still complained that I interrupted! For saving him! Ungrateful, so ungrateful." Danny pressed a hand to his lips to try and stop his laughter. The angel's tone adding to the laughter of the situation. He quickly looked away when Dean returned his glared.
"I hear you." Clockwork responded with a nod. "Did you know I still have his evil self locked in the back room? I broke all the rules for this boy. His completely out of the timeline now." At the shocked and confused looked the Winchester's gave him, Danny shrugged.
"In another future, I kinda went evil and I kind of saved that timeline... by accident... almost destroyed mine..." Danny went silent, feeling the blush return. That was an incident he would like not to remember thank you very much.
"I betrayed all of prophesy. I rebelled for him." Cas nodded.
"Dude, you should marry him." Danny spoke to Dean, not realizing what he truly said until Sam bursted into laughter and Dean's faced heat up. "I mean, he went against God for you!" Danny justified, fell embarrassed himself. When Dean look to his brother for help all Sam did was shrugged and nodded in agreement.
"Life's rough isn't it?" Clockwork sighed, glancing over to the teen who seemed to be in a heated conversation with the taller of the two brothers while the other sat, disgruntled.
"Yes, I would agree." Castiel turned his gaze to the scene his old friend was looking to.
"But I wouldn't trade it for the world." Clockwork smiled.
"I agree." Castiel nodded in agreement.
"It was great seeing you old friend." Clockwork patted his friend on the shoulder, taking a stand.
"It was good to see you as well, Clockwork." Castiel followed suit.
"Daniel, it's time to head back to our work." Clockwork called out, smiling at the relief the crossed the teens face. He turned to the two brothers and the angel. "It was good seeing all of you, until next time."
On their way through the portal, the master of time heard the very distinct voice of Dean Winchester questioning "What the hell is he?!"

OK K.O. Episodes Review!
I got Hulu Live just to watch em!
Gar Trains Punching Judy: A great funny episode, with the starring role of Melissa Villasenor doing some great work which I greatly enjoyed! It was also a pretty meaningful episode, showing Gar getting himself a bit more emotionally stable after all the hardships of his life- and all in all, it was funny seeing how K.O. was just plopped into this plot without really having any big role in it! 10 outta 10 for this one!
Beach Episode: This is a pretty nice, chill episode I think- I like the idea of them having a second job exclusively for the summer at the beach, even if it probably won’t appear again after this! Beach episodes are always fun, and this is no exception! I love Enid’s Naruto-style training, along with her Jaws-style revenge! And the fact that Raymond’s “swimsuit” is just a speedo and nothing else is just feeding into that fanart and that Radmond~ that Baywatch reference managed to be simultaneously subtle and glaringly obvious, and the landfill plot comes off as a lot less preachy when it’s combined with all this silliness with all the fun beach combat. ANyone else love that Raymond of all people is the one to agree with working together? All in all, this was a great episode, ten outta ten! (P.S. Rad and Raymond were put on the same board, coincidence or ship tease?) OK A.U.: Heck yeah, a canon alternate universe! This is definitely not the way I expected this episode to begin, with a “our life is much harder than yours” kinda plot, but it is a great way to begin an episode about being transported to another universe! I kinda hope that the Alternate Universe Warlock becomes a popular character in the fandom due to how easy he’d be to use for fanfiction!  I love this perspective into what its like to be a Boxbot- unlike Mr. Gar, he doesn’t show any sympathy and is perfectly willing to reboot you if you ever disobey! It makes being a Boxbot seem kinda scary, although that was kind of a given. And man, I love the way these humanizations of the Boxbots look, exactly how I would’ve imagined them! I loved how the original moral ended up being completely thrown away when it turns out that when he created this alternate universe, he didn’t give them the same memories. And nice callback to the “Let’s Watch the Pilot” episode! ten outta ten, hopefully this becomes a popular one!
K.O.’s Health Week: This episode has such a Sesame Street vibe to it, or like an episode of a cartoon from the ninetees where they were forced to give out morals without any relevance to the plot or characters. In fact, I am totally certain that this is meant to be a parody of those kinda kid’s shows, with K.O. in place of someone like Elmo or Sonic from Sonic Sez. This episode is definitely establishing K.O. as having some pretty wacky toonforce, being able to just climb into someone’s mouth and shrink into the size of a tiny toothbrush to literally wipe out plaque. This episode seems like it was both meant as a way to teach cute lessons to kids and as a way to show K.O.’s trait of wanting to be a hero to anyone. I enjoy the way they managed to rope in the Boxbots into the plot, and both this and Beach Episode show that in the right circumstances, they can get along well! It looks like this episode might’ve been more than just a silly “the more you know” gag- it was showing that K.O. needs to take care of himself! It’s nice to see that even though the Boxbots still got pummelled, they were on good terms with K.O. by the end. Maybe eventually we’ll have a plot with the Boxbots questioning their villainy? Anyway, ten outta ten for this!
Rad’s Alien Sickness: I absolutely love this already, with Venomous and Fink getting their own villainous intro to signify their new role in Boxmore! I had no idea we would get to the point of biological warfare being used against the Bodega Trio, but Venomous is the kind to definitely pull that off! It seems maybe they were using Rad’s persistence against him in order to make them fall apart, which is pretty clever for someone who hasn’t been there for that long. Their depiction of Rad’s sickness managed to be pretty gross without being overly realistic, as all fluids are replaced with just blue. I love how K.O. has proved to be the perfect pal, helping his friends with whatever is ailing them, and the fact that he got desperate enough to use leeches and crystals is adorable and funny. Anyone else surprised to hear the term “enabler” used in a kid’s cartoon? And I just love the fourth wall breaking of them saying they barely see Ernesto! Honestly, this episode just proves how much better of a villain Venomous really is, as he basically using his real villain skills to do what Boxman always wanted to do- almost, at least! Well, ten outta ten, I can’t wait for the finale! (not sure whether that cocooning thing is more funny or creepy.)
Dark Plaza: It should typically be a good sign when an episode begins with a cheesy laughtrack and everyone being happy, but the last episode to do that was Let’s Take a Moment, an episode packed with big reveals and twists, so I am already feeling something coming. And already I was right, with Foxtail and Elodie showing up with a bunch of construction workers and giant pointy ships! THis episode is already getting heavy, with the supposed hero wanting to bulldoze Lakewood Plaza to start extracting glorbs and Carol’s secret being revealed to Gar! Oh boy, I love the parallels- in the heat of the moment, Gar is telling off Carol and saying something he’s bound to regret while it rains down hard, just like Carol did all those years ago. Gar seems to have completely given up and is gone, time will only tell if it lasts. Oh boy, subversion of expectations- instead of T.K.O. coming out to save the day, he’s stopped from fighting, and two months pass to reveal that they actually did win! Villains win! I mean, heroes win really, but you get it. It’s pretty dope that the heroes have formed a resistance, and they have such cool new outfits which I bet will get plenty of fanart! The fact that Mr. Gar had the blueprints to the Plaza encoded with holographic morse is pretty clever, and I am into this fun heist mission being pulled off!  Ms. Mummy’s appearance was a surprise indeed, and I also didn’t think we’d get to see P.K.O. again, but this episode is full of surprises! The callback to the Key to the Plaza from the Plazalympics is pretty cool, as I was almost certain that was just a gag. It probably originally was a gag, but now it’s not! I also love the fact that Plazamo from Crinkly Wrinkly’s story turned out to be real, and he wasn’t just making stuff up- he just has a weird way of remembering things. I am very hopeful that Elodie will come around- she seemed remorseful back then when she actually destroyed the plaza, but it seems now she’s been completely turned. This episode is doing well to prove both how tough K.O. is and how powerful Foxtail is, and I love it!
Nice to see Mr. Gar return to save the day, and Carol too! And man, Elodie is stone-cold brutal- turning on her own superior just to prove she can, and that all in all she still loves Enid. It’s also sweet that they’re still having such an emotional moment with her even after all she’s done- Foxtail did have good intentions, after all. I think that all in all, that was a pretty good season finale. I expected something with Shadowy Figure, and sadly we didn’t really get any hints at it, but I’m sure next season is gonna do something about that. Eleven outta ten!

So, in high school, I got to take a creative writing elective. I was shy, but passionate about my fandom. Dr Who was my life. And for class we had to read a piece of creative writing out loud. I knew it was kinda taboo to pass off fanfic as creative writing, but I read my Dr Who fanfic. The most popular boy in school started laughing at me when I finished, and the teacher sent me to detention for not writing something original.
Later that night though, I got an anon on my tumblr saying that they really liked my fic, and that the 9th Doctor was their favorite. If I wanted to know who they were, I should meet them at the local Hot Topic. Naturally, my curiosity won out, and I slunk over there and went to their Dr Who merch.
The most popular boy, the boy from my class, was there looking at Tardis pins!! I didn’t believe it could possibly be him who was my anon! But when he saw me, he smiled and said “you came!” I was in shock! And I blurted out “Nine’s my favorite Doctor too!”
We kept talking in secret after that, and when prom night came around, and he was made prom king, he threw his plastic scepter away and pulled out his sonic screwdriver! He pointed it at me and said in front of everyone “I want you to be my Companion”
We got married in front of the Tardis, and it was all thanks to my fanfic!
Hello humans I have a bonkers request for video content. I want you to write me some Tumblr fake stories. I know that your cringiest 2012 self is still in there clawing to be free and i want you to let them out. Do your absolute worst.
I plan to select 10-15 ish stories (depending on length) for a video. I haven’t decided yet if its gonna be something along the lines of “can you tell which of these are real or fake” or just “look at these hot new tumblr fake stories by my audience”
Please comment on or reblog this post with your fake story. If you post yours as a separate post just make sure that you leave me a link to it in the comments of this post or I might not be able to find it.

SonAmy Week 2018 Day 4 - Arabian Nights
"Wait wait wait, if he was the Ifrit then where did the Genie come from?"
"The lamp Amy, keep up," Sonic chided playfully, leaning back to lay on the end of her bed. The lofty tones of lavender floated around him as his head hit the soft blanket underneath.
Amy frowned and sniffed loudly, pulling the covers tighter around herself. "I'm trying, I promise. It's just ..."
"Your head feels like you got stung but a butt ton of bee bots?" Sonic offered, waving a hand her general direction.
Amy nodded, a weak smile stretching across her lips. "Exactly."
"Are you still convinced you're not sick?" Sonic said, raising an eyebrow in a taunting challenge.
The pink hedgehog blew out a breath of air and sunk deeper under the covers with a groan. Sonic was pretty sure he heard a muffled 'no' a few moments later but that could have just been wishful thinking.
"It's alright Ames, I got you," he said, lifting the book in his laps and scanning the pages.
When Amy had called this morning to say she wouldn't be able to make it to their group hike to the cliffs, Sonic hadn't been able to stay away. Amy never missed a hike, especially when she had put so much effort into planning  the whole thing.
He'd shown up at her doorstep to check on her, half expecting some date of sorts with her fuzzy puppy pals but instead he found her huddled under several blankets, sniffling and sleep-deprived. It didn't take an evil doctor to figure out she was sick - despite her adamant efforts to claim otherwise.
After the girl had denied every offer of help he could think of it - probably for the best he realised afterwards - Sonic had refused to take no for an answer when he found an old tattered copy of his favourite book, The Arabian Nights.
He might not have been able to make her a steaming chicken soup, but telling her a story? That was something the hedgehog could do with his eyes closed and eventually the girl had relented. And that was how he found himself lying on the end of Amy's bed, spinning tales of magical treasures in caves of wonders, and thieves and genies galore.
"So, then Ali Baba said the magic words - open sesame - and-"
A sharp sneeze cut him off and he tilted his head to see Amy shivering under the covers. Wait, was she cold? The blue hedgehog mentally berated himself for not paying closer attention to her and sat up again with a start, his tale forgotten for the time being.
"Amy, you're shivering," he stated simply.
The girls eyes were hazy as they met his and she nodded slowly. "I don't know why it's so cold in the middle of summer? This has to be Eggman's doing," she whimpered with an annoyed look.
"Normally I would agree with you, but I think you should just admit you're sick this time Ames."
She narrowed her eyes at him and Sonic held up his hands defensively. It was pretty hard to take her seriously the next moment as her face scrunched up in a high pitched sneeze, leaving her with violent shakes.
"What was that about the cave again?" she sniffled, her nose crinkling as she tried to stave off another wave of sneezes.
Sonic's gaze drifted down to her hands that clutched the covers tightly, shaking helplessly despite the blankets. They were clearly doing nothing to keep her warm he realised and in a flash of a thought, he knew what he had to do.
As much as he hated that his cheeks burned red and hot at the thought, he nodded towards the space beside her. "It's uh, kinda chilly out today Ames. Do you mind if I join you?" he asked quickly, too embarrassed to meet her gaze.
Amy barely hummed in response and he found that her muted response seemed to take the edge off his nerves, giving him the boost of confidence he needed to sidle over beside her. He slid under the covers, positioning himself as close to the girl as he dared as he made himself comfortable.
He was right beside her and he hoped that his own body heat would somehow help keep her warmer. Theoretically it should work he told himself as every instinct inside him yelled at him to run. He stamped them down hard and picked up his favourite book again.
"Where were we again?" he said, turning to the girl beside him.
"The cave."
"Right," he said, unable to help but notice the way her head drooped a little. "Hey, you know you can lay down right?"
Amy shook her head despite how obviously exhausted she was.
Sonic didn't push her on it though as she gestured for him to continue. He turned back to the page, his eyes flicking across the pages and words quickly as he wondered if there was more he could do for the girl. If the roles were reversed, Amy would go above, beyond and all the back for him.
Surely there was something or someway he could make her feel special in her moment of weakness. Even if she was barely lucid enough to remember any of it after. His eyes caught onto a few words scattered across the page and suddenly he knew.
As quickly as he could, he wound down the tale of 'Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves', his mind working as fast as his legs as his idea spiralled around inside of him. And although he held the book in his hands, the next tale he told was nowhere to be found in the pages but one of his own making.
He pulled together threads of all his favourite tale, combining them together into a new and unique story just for the girl beside him. Just the way he used to do for Tails when he was younger. With all his favourite elements and his own love for epic adventures, so began his new tale.
"This next one is called 'Suti and the Secret Rings'," he said, risking a side glance at Amy who watched him through half closed eyes. She didn't seem to notice the title wasn't one of the official stories and Sonic continued on ahead, unfolding his story word by word. Line by line.
At some point during his tale, Sonic felt a light pressure against his shoulder, warm and gentle. He didn't even have to look to know that Amy had rested her head against him. He smiled to himself and pretended not to notice, and honestly he doubted that she had realised herself. If anything, he was just glad that she had finally stopped shaking.
The hedgehog did lower his voice a little however in the hopes that he might lull the girl into a healing sleep, something she definitely needed right then. He had been flicking the pages every now and then to keep up the illusion that he was reading from the book but with her this close, he didn't risk any unnecessary movement.
"So, then Erazor tells him that unless he can gather the World Rings before the flame of the arrow dies out, then his life is forfeit and he'll die."
For the most part of his tale, the girl had been completely still but now Sonic felt a light movement from his side. He risked a glance to see the girl looking at the book with a look of confusion.
"Wait, that wasn't in any of the stories," she said quietly.
"It wasn't?"
"No. I've read them all and none of them mention anything to do with an eraser or a flame arrow," she said with a yawn, snuggling in closer to him. She went to point to the book as she spoke but with the little energy she only made it part way before hand dropped onto Sonic's lap.
"They don't?" he whispered, unable to resist touching her fallen hand. His eyes were locked onto hers as he traced feather light circles against the back of her hand, hoping it was as calming for the girl as it was for him.
Amy nodded slowly, eyes sleep-filled and narrowed in suspicion as she glanced up at him from where he head rested against his shoulder.
"Well, he's definitely in it," Sonic replied back, his voice almost a whisper. He couldn't bring himself to look away from her but she didn't seem to mind. "He's the genie of the lamp so you probably just missed a tale or something. There are a thousand and one after all."
"You seem to know the stories awfully well," Amy whispered as her lids fluttered shut, her voice becoming slow and heavy. "It's almost like you've lived them."
"Yeah, almost," he said with a soft chuckle, smiling to himself as he gently reached over and brushed her bangs out of her face. Gentle as anything, he shifted the girl so she lay on her pillow and was covered in the warm blankets.
He slid out from the covers slowly and before his feet even touched the ground, he heard her breathing become soft and even. As he closed her bedroom door after himself, he knew that if he had a lamp right now that his first wish would be that her sleeps were always filled with adventure beyond her wildest dreams.
Eh, I feel like this could have been better but I've been staring at it for too long already. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed it. This is by far the theme I was so excited to see content for and the fandom did not disappoint - ya all are awesome!
Go check out the sonamyweek tag on twitter and tumblr - you won't be disappointed!
Thanks for reading lovelies, lemme know what you thought if you can and I'll see you all next time for the day five theme, Superheroes (I'm hella late, I know, sorry)
Chao for now :)

[NEWS] 170825 Billboard: “How EXO's 'The War' Came Together: A Song-By-Song Breakdown With the Band, Its Producers & More”
A behind-the-scenes look at what went into making summer's hottest K-pop album.
From the frenetic synths of “Going Crazy” to the dreamlike melodies of “Walk on Memories,” EXO's latest album, The War, held nothing back from fans. Pulling inspiration from funk, reggae, EDM, trap and more, then weaving it all together through top-notch production, it proved a logical progression in their sonic journey and a summer-friendly successor to the group's darker previous album, Ex'Act.
With The War, EXO topped Billboard's World Albums chart for two consecutive weeks and went on to sell over 1 million copies globally, proving that the EXO-L fandom is sticking around for the boy band's evolution.
Learn what went into the hottest K-pop album of the summer from the members themselves and some of the producers behind its hottest tracks.
“The Eve”
Mike Woods: I was one of the producers on “The Eve” which was originally titled “Black Dress.” I wrote it alongside Kevin White, Andrew Bazzi and Henry Lau. Originally the song was for Henry Lau's project, but we all felt that it going to EXO would be best for everyone as it was a perfect record for them. The sound came about from us wanting something sexy and melodic, but also performance driven. We wanted to paint a dark and mysterious vibe, hence the title “Black Dress.” We wrote the song during a writing camp for SM [Entertainment] -- we basically write one to two songs a day for about 10 days and see what we come up with. “The Eve” came about on the fourth day of the camp and only took us one day to complete, from conception of music and lyrics to the final composition. We recorded the demo for the song the same day of conception.
“Ko Ko Bop”
Styalz Fuego: I went out to Seoul early November last year. It was maybe 10 of us ... and basically we were all put in the the SM studios for a couple of weeks. It was my first time out there. [You're] basically hearing a quick [overview] of the whole scene and everything that's going on in K-pop and then you're put in the rooms every day to just write songs. “Ko Ko Bop” was maybe the fourth of fifth day in. The first couple of days I was trying to get a hang of [it.] I listened to a lot of K-pop, but still, it's a different scene to write a song [for] because it's so much more complex. [K-pop songs] have so many more moving components to them, than say, if you're out in L.A. writing, trying to make things very simple and trying to get to the core of the lyric and have the beat as simple as possible.
I kinda knew as soon as we'd done the song and we played it back for everyone, just from the response we got to the song it was gonna be something, but I had no idea it'd be [EXO's]. Going into writing that song, it was basically to do something with the reggae feel, that was the main thing we were aiming for. It took a whole different direction with the crazy drop section after the chorus. We went into this doing a reggae-pop song and it transformed into what it is.
I don't think it was ever for EXO -- I think it was more for a female group. Shaylen [Carroll, co-producer] did the demo. When they did the playback for everyone at SM, [we thought] they would essentially understand this is for one of the girl groups. A girl is singing it and it's in the range of what the girls can sing. The song was actually in a higher key -- I think three semitones higher -- so it was more fitted for a female [group] originally.
But I guess it worked out well because we had a few of our voices in the song spread out, so I guess when they started picking where the song could go, it made sense for EXO because there are so many different sections vocally.
Shaylen Carroll: I wrote the lyrics and melodies with Tay Jasper, then I sang the demo. It's a “feel good” type of track, so the melodies came easily. Styalz's stuff is easy to write to. When I was recording some melody ideas I kept on singing nonsense phrases and one was “Shimmy shimmy Ko Ko Bop,” which we all thought was super quirky and catchy. So we built off that and turned it into something real. The song is about not worrying about things... Sometimes you just gotta go with the flow! Don't worry about the haters.
Jared Cotter, Shaylen's manager: [SM Entertainment] let us know it was being considered for a girl group.
Carroll: [I] definitely never thought it would get flipped to EXO, but obviously we are thrilled it did. We [knew] it was special when we finished it. I am really glad it found the home that it did.
Chen: [The members and I] wrote the lyrics separately and worked on putting the lyrics together for the song afterwards. We worked on the song using a special method, where we gathered all three of our lyrics for the song and selected which lyrics would suit the song the best. I don't think I have any regrets or wish that it could have better since it's the best result produced through all the effort that our members and other various writers have put into the process. Through the lyrics, I wanted “Ko Ko Bop” to have people shake off all their stress and enjoy themselves just as who they are.
Baekhyun: I felt that a lot of our fans were unable to fully enjoy our concerts or performances because they're conscious of what others would think. Since “Ko Ko Bop” is a reggae and EDM genre and it's easy to groove to, I wanted my lyrics to have people to become more carefree, release their stress and dance away with the music.
“What U Do?”
Ronny Svendsen: The song was written in Seoul last December. We went over to Korea to do a camp for SM with our, at the time, new publishing company called Ekko Music Rights. We tried to create a song that would be danceable and organic sounding with emphasis on real instruments -- bass, guitar, piano. The song was really based around the guitars and a simple chord progression. Sound-wise we had a reference from another boy band of SM Entertainment's called NCT, which we originally aimed for: danceable, but not “synthy.”
“Forever”
Greg Bonnick of LDN NOISE: This was written in Seoul with Kenzie and Adrian McKinnon. We knew the vibe was perfect for EXO so we worked on it for about a week on and off to get it right, trying different chords and toplines. The intro part was initially the chorus. We thought, “Great, we nailed it,” but once we listened back, it needed to go up another gear. We then added the extra section, which is now the chorus, and it came to life and made it so much bigger.
To be honest, we wanted to make a “Monster” 2.0 but still be different and bigger, you know? We always have fun when we can mix hard hip-hop verses with a bright chorus, and for a group like EXO, it gives it the perfect balance.
We wanted to make a statement: this song, this album, it's EXO forever. We feel really connected to this group and the fans so it's important we got it right, and the feedback has been amazing, so we are very happy.
“Touch It”
Denzil Remedios: From what I recall, “Touch It” came to Ryan [Jhun]'s hands first. He got the song originally from the Jackie Boyz [Carlos and Steven Battey] and the Fliptonez. I think they sent it to him while we were still in Korea and this was actually more than a year ago now, maybe close to almost two years ago when they sent that record, and it just kinda connected right away. We heard what it could be -- it already sounded like the guts of a smash was there, at least something we could put into a big group's hands. From there, Ryan and I did what we normally do, which is pick it apart and say, “Hey, what parts could get stronger? What could we do extra with the production to pump it a little bit more?” That's how we got the record, and then we just worked on all those elements over probably months back and forth.
“Touch It,” when we first heard it, already had such a non-today-ish vibe -- a classic vibe. It's not like the everyday pop EDM electronic-y sound that everyone's doing, which was refreshing when we first heard it. We were like, “Yo, this sounds like an old Justin Timberlake, almost Michael Jackson type of thing.” That old school vibe. We didn't wanna change the production or toplining to the point where it didn't sound like that anymore. When we were hearing it, sonically we were like, “Cool, this can be something that a group like EXO can take and use for the album and it doesn't sound like everything else they would normally be putting out.”
We were thinking stage performance at the time too. It's just a really fun track that doesn't have to be too serious -- you don't have to have crazy choreography where they drop from the top of the stadium.
Chen: My imagination provides the most inspiration for the lyrics. For “Touch It,” I played out the lyrics in my mind as if it is like a scene from a movie when writing it. After completing the draft, I worked on it by fixing awkward pronunciations by singing along the lyrics with the music. This helped me figure out more suitable and comfortable words that would enhance the groove when listening to the song.
“Chill”
Otha “Vakseen” Davis: We went to a song camp last year -- I wanna say it was November -- and it was probably the third camp my team has been on. Anytime we go to song camps at SM, they usually have a focus for us as far as what to work on and I know we worked on some things for EXO. For any creator, you always wanna try to make an EXO project. We fell in love with the vibe and the energy[of “Chill”] in the studio and SM's team felt the same way about the record. That happened to be one that everybody loved -- the guys loved it ultimately when they heard it.
There were certain elements like the breakdown in “Chill” that was added at the camp, but we came with the ideas already fleshed out. Ultimately, [the breakdown] was to serve as a dance breakdown. K-pop acts, especially EXO, are very performance-oriented, so you wanna have sections to show out. You wanna make something that feels good but still can allow them to move.
Chanyeol: Usually it's common to work on the lyrics based on a demo guide, but for the song “Chill” I worked on the lyrics with an empty track without demo lyrics. I think that’s part of the reason why the lyrics were able to come out pretty naturally.
“Walk on Memories”
Albi Albertsson: In late 2015, Wassily Gradovsky, who was actually interning for me as a producer at that time, brought an instrumental to me, which was later to become the instrumental for “Walk on Memories.” He had recorded a loop on the upright piano I have in my living room and incorporated it into this smooth R&B style beat.
I immediately liked the chord progression and the vibe of the track, so I sent it to Justin Reinstein, a writer from New York who we had just started working with at that time. He had a very smooth topline and vocal style that I thought would be perfect for this track, so he worked on the instrumental to craft the melodies.
From then on it was only finalizing the song: I added stacks of vocal harmonies and other details to make it work better for a group performance and make it more “K-pop,” added some vocal adlibs and then finalized the production by adding more instruments and finalizing the mix.
When I sent it to EXO's A&R, he immediately loved it but wanted a more distinct intro that reflected the fantasy theme he had in mind for the new album. So instead of the very basic intro the track originally had, I came up with a new, more mysterious and vibey intro, which is the intro you can hear in the final version of the song.
Wassily Gradovsky: The track was influenced by the genres of '90s R&B and jazz, reimagined with contemporary sounds. The arrangement of the piano chords -- being arpeggiated from bottom to the top -- was inspired by Justin Timberlake's “Cry Me A River,” but with a lighter and more positive tone. The slightly melancholic bridge, which is modulating into the final uplifting chorus, represents an uplifting, “happy ending” twist to the story.
“Going Crazy”
Otha “Vakseen” Davis: It was something that we did maybe around February of 2016. They loved it and for some reason could not find the right topline for it -- I think they had one originally and it didn't work at the end of the day. So they had this track, it was already placed on EXO and my team was presented with the opportunity to write to it. So I had one of my writers go in and do what he does. Funny enough, it was supposed to go on the Ex'Act album. It was something that they loved, but it didn't make sense then. We were persistent. Between myself and my business partner, we [would say], “Hey, what about this one? Don't forget this record!” Fast forward to now, the new album was coming out, [and] we were finally able to get them to connect. I think we had to make a couple of edits on it between that year or so passing just to make sure it was as fresh as possible.
The track's over a year old -- there's something so special about it because you drop it now, 2017, and it's still hot, still relevant. And that's the goal: create timeless music that can be good any time.

Still a Drama Queen
Late for AU August! @doctorroseprompts
Fandom: Doctor Who
Pairing: Rose/Twelve
Warnings: N/A
Rose Tyler has been happily married to the Doctor for millennia, but all their adventuring has come to an abrupt halt with the 'execution' of Missy. Now, they've been stuck at a university on Earth, away from the stars and their adventures, but the Doctor's new pupil gives Rose something new: hope.
[AO3]
Over two thousand years, they’d been married. Two thousand years of adventure and friendship and parenthood, all ended by Missy.
Rose resented the Time Lady, but she couldn’t hate her, not when the Doctor’s relationship with her ran so deep and meant so much.
Her ears perked as the mechanical squeak of Nardole approached. What did he want n- oh, yes. The Doctor had asked a Bill Potts to come and see him. Odd, Rose had thought, a century at the university, thousands of pupils and sneaked into his lectures, and not once had he asked one of them to meet him in the office. Though once he explained his intentions to tutor her, Rose teased that he needed someone new to show off to.
As the door opened, Rose sighed, placing her book back on the shelf, turning to meet her husband’s new pupil.
*
‘Well, this is weird,’ thought Bill, as the man who led her to the office stumbled away. The professor who everyone knew as ‘The Doctor’ had asked her - a canteen worker - to his office. And what a strange office it was. The room was littered with unusual bits and bobs. A giant police box stood proud in the corner. A pen pot contained stick-like things that couldn’t possibly be pens. The desk was completely covered in photos. One had a young, smiling blonde, probably in her early twenties. Another was a big group photo with several teenagers, the blonde woman again, and a man in a pinstriped suit. The next one had all different faces, except the blonde woman again, barely aged a day. Another one was full of adults, the only people she recognised was the man in the suit and the blonde yet again. Only one photo didn’t have the blonde: a black and white photo of a teenage girl with a dark pixie cut.
“You must be Bill, right?” a voice said from above, startling her.
Bill glanced at the balcony to see a woman leaning on the bannister and had to refrain from gasping. She was beautiful. Couldn’t be more than fifty, she seemed to have an ethereal glow about her. Her face was gently lined, laugh lines emphasised by her kind smile. She was wearing black skinny jeans and a cream jumper: a plain look that somehow seemed so elegant on her. Her brown eyes twinkled with something Bill couldn’t quite place and her blonde hair fell in natural curls just past her shoulders. It was then Bill realised: she was the woman from the pictures.
But those pictures look far too modern for her to be fifty.
It was when the woman reached the bottom of the stairs that Bill noticed she was staring… and that she’d been asked a question.
“Yeah. Bill Potts.”
The woman stuck out her hand, “Rose Tyler, the Doctor’s wife. You’re here to see him?”
“He asked me to meet him, yeah. Not sure why,” Bill confessed.
Rose smiled sympathetically, “Most of what he does doesn’t mak-”
She was cut off by an electric guitar ripping apart the silence.
Rose rolled her eyes and muttered, “Beethoven again.” She knocked on the right-hand door and yelled, “Bill’s here, dear.”
Rose pulled out a tablet and sat on the window ledge as the Doctor poked his head out the door, sunglasses perched on his face.
*
As her husband disappeared again, Rose heard the familiar sound of the sonic whirring followed by feedback.
Typical, Rose thought loudly over the bond, has an appointment due yet decides to play rock star again.
Oi! came the reply. Rose chuckled and opened up her emails to find several lengthy letters from the kids.
“Potts?”
“Yeah?”
“Bill Potts?”
“You wanted to see me?”
The Doctor emerged from behind the door and shuffled some papers. “Er, you’re not a student at this university.”
“Nah, I work in the canteen,” Bill replied easily.
“Yeah but you come to my lectures,” he accused.
“No I don’t. I never do that,” she denied, even though she had to have known she’d been caught. Rose smiled to herself: exactly what she would’ve done.
“I’ve seen you.”
“Love your lectures. They’re totally awesome.”
Oh, I like her, Rose thought with a suggestive smirk.
The Doctor gave her a mental eye roll, You know we can’t, love.
“Why’d you come to my lectures when you’re not a student?”
“Ok,” Bill took a deep breath, and Rose felt a rant coming on, “so my first day here, in the canteen, I was on chips. There was this girl. Student. Beautiful. Like a model, only with talking and thinking. She looked at you and you perved. Every time, automatic, like physics. Eye contact, perversion. So I gave her extra chips. Every time, extra chips. Like a reward for all the perversion. Every day, got myself on chips, rewarded her. Then finally, finally, she looked at me, like she'd noticed, actually noticed, all the extra chips. Do you know what I realised? She was fat. I'd fatted her. But that's life, innit? Beauty or chips. I like chips. So did she. So that’s ok.”
“Completely agree,” Rose butted in. “Always chose chips over anything.”
“As much as I agree, how does that in any way explain why you keep coming to my lectures?” he asked, moving to stand by the desk.
Bill stiffened, probably thinking over what she’d just said, “Yeah, it doesn't really, does it? I was hoping something would develop.” She looked around, clearly hoping for a distraction. “What's that? A police telephone box?”
“Yeah,” the Doctor moved to stand by the TARDIS, and they both felt her mournful tug, begging them to take her out.
“Did you build it from a kit?”
The Doctor looked almost offended and Rose had to stifle a laugh, “No, it came like that!”
“Then how did you get it in here? The door's too small and so are the windows,” Bill pointed out. Observant, and probably very nosy.
“I had the window and a part of the wall taken out and it was lifted in.”
“What, with a crane?”
“Yeah, with a crane. It's heavier than it looks. Why do you keep coming to my lectures?” He brushed off the conversation, but Rose felt his sorrow, linked so closely with her own, as she watched him take his seat.
“Because I like them,” she replied as if it were obvious (which it was). “Everybody likes them. They're amazing.” She shrugged, “Why me?”
“Why you what?”
“Well, plenty of people come to your lectures that aren't supposed to. Why pick on me?”
“Well, I noticed you.” Not answer enough, dear. I was right: showing off.
“Yeah, but why?” Bill continued questioning.
The Doctor wrung his hands, gazing at the picture of Susan on his desk. “Well, most people when don' t understand something, they frown. You,” he pointed at her and paused for the dramatic effect he adored so much, “smile.”
“I'll tell you what I don't understand,” Bill began. “You've been lecturing here for a long time. Like, fifty years, some people say. Nabeela in the office says over seventy. Except for the random three-year disappearance in 2006.”
“Family matters,” Rose answered automatically.
The Doctor ignored that comment. “Yeah, and you're thinking, 'Well, he doesn't look old enough'.”
“No.” The Doctor’s face fell and this time Rose couldn’t help but giggle. Don’t worry, love. The silver fox definitely works for me.
“I'm wondering what you're supposed to be lecturing on. It's like the university let you do whatever you like. One time, you were going to give a lecture on quantum physics. You talked about poetry.”
“Poetry, physics, same thing,” he shrugged.
“How is it the same?”
“Because of the rhymes. What are you doing at this university?” he diverted again.
“I always wanted to come here,” she stated plainly.
“Yeah, to serve chips?”
Rude.
Bill cocked her head to the door. “So anyway, am I nearly done?”
“Do you want to be?”
“See ya.” She got to her feet, clearly thinking she was.
‘Oh how wrong you are,’ Rose thought to herself.
The Doctor didn’t watch her leave, picking papers up off his desk. “You ever get less than a first, then it's over,” he called casually.
Bill halted. “You what?”
“A first. Every time, or I stop immediately.”
“Stop what?”
“Being your personal tutor.,” he grinned. Drama queen, Rose chided.
“But I'm not a student,” Bill was definitely surprised, exactly what her stupid husband was going for. “I'm not part of the university. I never even applied.”
“We'll sort all that out later,” he announced, rushing over to the door, grin firm on his face.
“You kinda have to sort that out earlier.”
“Leave it with me,” he promised. “I'm assuming that it's a yes.”
Bill just blinked for a moment, before looking over to Rose to see if he was serious. Rose sent her a warm smile to reassure to the poor girl. Seemingly convinced, she gasped out, “Yes.”
“I'll see you at 6pm every weekday. I don't care who's dying, never, ever be late. I'm very particular about time.”
Rose rolled her eyes, “Ignore him, he’s a bit of a drama queen. You’ll get used to it soon enough.”
“Ok,” Bill beamed and made to leave, but soon turned back. “Oh, er. People just call you the Doctor? What do I call you? Doctor Tyler?”
“No. The Doctor.”
“But Doctor's not a name. I can't just call you Doctor. Doctor what?”
The Doctor stared at her, before facing Rose. “Roooose, she didn’t do the thing!” he whined.
Rose chuckled. As much as this body pretended he was more grown-up, he was still just a child at heart. “I know, love. I’m sorry. Humans aren’t a hive mind.”
As Bill left the couple, Rose heard the Doctor grumble, “Not at this point in history anyway.”

Sonic X!Rogue/Knuckles for the meme
B-But I haven’t watched more than five episodes ofSonic X  :’)  I actually hadn’t seen any of it prior to about a month ago? I’d like to watch more but it’s a work in progress, anon.
So the only real KnuxRouge content I’m familiar with is the second SonicAdventure. That’s where most of this is coming from. Under the cut~
when I started shipping it if I did:
When Knuckles saved her from falling after theirbattle at Meteor Herd. They had the hand hold moment. And then Rouge called hima creep that only saved her so that he could hold her hand. A+ dialogue. It wasgood. Very good.
my thoughts:
idk, KnuxRouge is very tropey, but I am weak. Therewas a femme fatale character. There was a sweet and strong and smart but inexperienceand dense af guy who probably wouldn’t know what flirting was if it kissed himon the nose. There was a conflict based in different ideological values. I’msorry, it was inevitable.
I suspect I would’ve started shipping it earlier ifI had played this game later in my life. At that time I was a little moretentative and relying on canon evidence before shipping. Now I’m all aboutmixing strong personalities and romance in hypothetical combinations and fuckcanon.
What makes me happy about them:
They’re both strong characters who seem to carrymore or less equal weight in the collision of their relationship. I’m actuallykind of surprised that the writers managed to not make it so that Rouge wasn’tovershadowed by Knuckles, despite the fact that he already had an established placein the series.
Also, I like that there’s a certain amount of…unseriousness to their struggle. A playfulness. Unlike Sonic and Eggman andTails legit murder attempts… For all the heatedness of Knuckles and Rouge clashingin their different ideas about duty and responsibility, when things ultimately startedtaking a more serious and fatal turn, they both came through for each otherinstead of for themselves. (I kind of joked about this before, but I do kind ofwonder if Rouge and shattering the Master Emerald do become part of a flimsyexcuse for Knuckles to justify leaving the tedium of sitting around on AngelIsland playing bodyguard to a rock.)
And, aw, the banter is fun.
What makes me sad about them:
That SA2’s plot is so, soooo bad. In terms of thisship in specific, it makes me sad that their big moment is the second time Rougewas damseled over the course of this game. And neither time she’s damseledmakes even the slightest bit of sense. What?!She’s going to fall from a great height into a pit of space lava?! She’s afucking bat!!! She can fly!!! And arguably she won that fightagainst Knuckles and, aaaaargh!!! Andthen the first time she’s damseled, she’s trapped in the military base by thepeople she’s working for as a double agent. It just makes zero sense. The plotof this game was so filled with holes and contrived BS. And I’m not evengetting into the gameplay mechanics. Ship deserved better.
In a less meta and more in-universe sense… I dothink in a romantic or otherwise emotionally intimate context, Rouge is aboutfive thousand times more adept than Knuckles. She could run circles around him,and I’m not sure you could trust her not to be manipulative about it, even ifshe had the best intentions. And she doesn’t always have the best intentions…
things done in fanfic that annoy me & things I look for in fanfic:
I haven’t really read any in detail. I pulled upsome Sonic stuff recently and was reminded uncomfortably of fanfiction relatedtropes specific to fandoms dominated by male fans. A lot of power fantasystuff, and dark morality themes that liked to think themselves complex but werereally simplistic and unsubtle, and female characters being victimised orotherwise uncritically robbed of their agency. None of this was about Knouge, but it kinda put me off the fandom. I’m sure there’s good fic hiding somewhere, but it put me off on looking for it for the time being.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
um, idk? I have a fondness for Julie-Su/Knuckles inthe comics, even though I do think the characterisation work wasn’t always veryclever. I like the other lady Echidnas with Knux too – so Knuckles/Tikal andKnuckles/Shade are both okay, imo. I think the Knuckles/Sally friendship in thecomics was really well constructed – the way it was set up around them havingthese similar but conflicting obligations was really clever – it couldtheoretically make a great romance. And for some reason I feel utterly charmedby the idea of Knuckles/Shadow after seeing those couple of comics about them.
For Rouge… I really don’t know… I know Rouge/Shadowis popular, and I think it could be good in the hypothetical – certainlythey’ve made a more stable team than Rouge&Knux – but… idk, in terms ofcanon it feels like there’s been quite a bit of Rouge taking interest in andcare towards Shadow as an individual, and not a lot of reciprocation whereShadow really considers Rouge beyond her capacity as an ally. It just seemslike a relationship very centred around /his/ needs and /his/ existential angst.Even when Shadow goes out of his way to save Rouge’s life, it feels like it’sset up as Shadow wanting to come to terms with his own morality and define forhimself what he’s spiritually capable of rather than ‘wow, I care about Rougenot dying’. All of which kind of turns me away from the idea that Shadow would everbe romantically interested in her in a way that could possibly respect that shehas her own needs and goals and values. I mean, I think this is up forinterpretation, and I think their relationship is interesting and could developin all sorts of ways… so I’m not really against the ship, but I remain kind ofunconvinced as of now.
Ugh, I feel like Rouge femslash should be where it’sat, but… who would I pair her with other than Amy? (no.) jfc, why are importantsonic female characters in such short supply?!? and why isn’t Rouge close toany of them?!?
My happily ever after for them:
Rouge decides to stash her hoard of gems on AngelIsland. She reasons that, because they’re stored with the Master Emerald, theMaster Emerald is also part of her collection. Knuckles humours her.
I think they’re often occupied with their ownobsessions and work. They probably spend long months away from each other whenKnuckles is doing Guardian work of one type or another, and Rouge is offtreasure hunting or working as a spy. They kind of reconvene and do battlecouple things together. They probably like travelling and treasure huntingtogether too, or otherwise visiting friends on the mainland.
I’m not sure how interspecies furry babies work, butthey may have a kid. ‘One. Only one,’Rouge says. The kid spends more time with Knuckles, training to be the nextGuardian. But they’re a little more enamoured with Rouge’s lifestyle – has a tastefor grand adventure and glamour. Knuckles’s life is struggle. Much compromise andreworking the system happens in the process of trying to reconcile expectations.
who is the big spoon/little spoon:
Rouge is little spoon.A little more like their animal counterparts, I imagine Knuckles is about twiceRouge’s size. So it’s very big big spoon, and very little little spoon.
what is their favorite non-sexual activity:
I think it’s included in that happy ending up there.Treasure hunting? Visiting friends? Digging through archaeological sitestogether, maybe. Does that overlap too much with treasure hunting? It’s aboutthe journey rather than the destination, though~
They both like swimming too right? They visit hiddenhot springs and oases and relax.
Thanks anon!!

I know this isn't a romantic prompt. But, What if Sonic and Amy had a family? Sorry if I'm bothering you or wasting your time, I just had this thought...
…How is that not romantic? lol I write much more than just romantic prompts :D I think people forget that sometimes… with all the sonamy and whatnot, I do write for other fandoms and couples too! :D So you’re fine! is this a separate family from each other or together?
I’m gonna go with sad and depressing, let’s do this!!!
Prompt:
Sonic was forced by his wife to take his kids somewhere and the only place he really liked was the wide open park.
It was called ‘The Meeting Place’ to most people, but all he saw was a park.
Sitting down, his son, the spitting image of him, raced forward and bumped into a little red girl.
“Oh, sorry!” he waved her off and took off again.
The little girl started crying, and Sonic leaned up from laying back on a tree stump, sighing. “I better-” he was about to help her, before seeing a woman looking off at his son stop with a woman’s bandanna up over her head with the tie on top as if this was the olden days.
He eyed her a moment before her child raised her hands for her to pick her up.
She shook her head, and quickly did so.
When Sonic saw her profile… he paused, jaw dropping.
It had been years since he said goodbye… and immediately the feelings of old returned as he slowly got up, watching her calm the child.
She felt eyes on her and looked over, and her own face dropped.
The two silently stared at each other, before Amy placed the baby down and kissed her forehead, telling her to run along and not let the boys push her over.
She nodded and raced off as Amy returned to standing up, and moved a piece of her hair back.
She had matured exceptionally well.
She was absolutely the most beautiful picture of a young woman that anyone couldn’t even have pictured her turning into.
He steadily approached her, having a hand behind his head.
“Amy..?”
“…Hello, Sonic.” she looked down, smiling sheepishly before losing the smile and clearing her throat.
“H-how is she?” she tilted her head, her eyes avoiding his, as she asked about his wife.
He lowered his hand, and looked away. “I guess she’s fine.”
“Fine?” she looked down, seeing he wasn’t wearing his wedding ring.
“…Are you two… okay?” she looked back up, and a split second of wondering hope crossed her eyes.
She looked at him now, fully attentive.
“…She’s taking the kids. It’s kinda messy. Couldn’t stand the way I live, I suppose.” he looked down and kicked the ground slightly, folding his arms at the uncomfortable topic.
“We’re signing the divorce papers in a week. Can’t always argue with a lawyer. But I should be able to see them on weekends…” he looked a hurt by just saying that, but then looked back up at her.
“…Why?” Amy almost breathed out the words, troubled by it. “How could anyone leave you?”
The words made his face drop at how she still couldn’t see fault in him.
“..I don’t know.” he looked away, regret suddenly filling him, and avoided her sincerity in her eyes again. He leaned an arm up to scratch behind his head again, an old habit, he supposed.
“Guess she wanted someone famous and rich. And when she found out I don’t really do ‘real work’ she wanted someone more ‘real and down to earth’… maybe.” he looked down, seeming to not fully know why they were breaking up either. “Maybe that magic is gone.”
“…I’m sorry.” She looked away.
“…And how’s-?” he turned to ask, but she shook her head.
“He died in the war.” she looked away, showing the pain had solidified after some time.
“… Oh, Amy…” he lowered his hands, his eyes showing great pity in them. “I’m so sorry.”
“…He would have wanted me to stay strong.” she smiled as she turned to her little girl.”
“So? A son, huh? I wasn’t aware you had-”
He pulled her into a hug.
She was so shocked that she remained silent, before slowly closing her eyes and letting it be.
“…Meet me here. On weekends?”
She was amazed by what he may be implying.
“Sonic..” she pulled away slightly, looking away.
He held on tighter, gritting his teeth.
“No. I made a mistake. I went for my eyes rather my heart. I just didn’t-… I didn’t want to believe you and I were a thing. But times have changed…”
He quickly turned her around, as she stared in pure shock into his.
“W..What are you saying?” she could barely speak the words, as tears formed in her eyes.
She looked into each eye, searching for betrayal, for the lie.
“I won’t let you go again.” his words were barely heard over the rushing wind.
Her eyes widened.
“Not again.”
“Daddy, daddy! This girl won’t leave me alone!” Sonic’s son ran with his arms out in front of him, as Amy’s little girl had summoned a hammer, and was seeking revenge for being knocked over.
“Say you’re sorry!”
(Hope that works for ya ;D I didn’t understand with the ‘family’ thing. Cause family would be romantic, you know? So… I’m sorry I didn’t understand, so I just went with a sappy ‘meeting again’, it’s kinda romantic, sorry xD But when you say ‘family’ then ‘love’ is implied, you know? If I did this wrong please send another Ask with a bit more clarity and detail, thank you! :D)
Part 2: (x)
