A parallel i never see get talked about before between Megumi and Toji is what they did to Vessels respectively.

Toji stole Riko's youth away out of selfishness, but Megumi wanted Yuuji to retain his out of (precieved) selfishness just the same.

Megumi wanted to give Yuuji the life Riko dreamed of having and the life Toji stole from her.

in a way, megumi is making up for his father's sins.
