Rather than going for rice dish, I picked this S$12.50 bowl of Kimchi & Shrimp Noodles Soup (泡菜虾仁汤面) at Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”). I opted for “xi mian” or in English means thin noodles. It was served with all the mentioned ingredients plus fried egg and diced spring onions. The kimchi imparted a light spiciness to the broth and the shrimps are real crunchy to the bite. Only complaint, the noodles portion seems a little small for a grown man like me.
Mum went with the usual Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面). I also ordered a takeaway Fried Rice with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (招牌猪排蛋炒饭) which cost S$0.10 more than mum’s dish at S$12.90+ for sis at home.
For sharing, a S$8+ bowl of Taiwanese Mushroom Meatball Soup with Seaweed & Egg (新竹香菇贡丸海带芽蛋花汤). Four to five springy and flavourful mushroom pork balls floating in the umami broth of beaten egg, seaweed and fried shallots.

one of my friends is trying to learn how to cook so i'm teaching him my favorite recipes and today we made sundubu jjigae together. it was a bit of a mess because i hadn't made it in a while but my god!!! stews that could make you forgive your father
#the version i make is not really authentic korean food (no one i cook for likes seafood so i can't use any. sad) but by god is it yummy#here i will share it with you. it's based on a friend's family recipe and on maangchi's recipe#you need. cooking oil + onion + green onion + garlic + bacon + w/e veggies you want + stock + kimchi + silken tofu + sesame oil + gochugaru#amounts depend on what you're feeling. i usually use a few cloves of garlic. about 1/4 of an onion. one or two green onions. etc#chop up garlic + onion + green onion + the other veggies + bacon#saute the garlic+onion+green onion+veggies over medium high heat and after a minute add the bacon#saute for a few more minutes until cooked to taste and then add kimchi and enough broth to cover everything. reduce to medium heat and cove#let it boil until everything is cooked through to your satisfaction (could be a few minutes could be a half hour. depends on ingredience)#while you wait mix together 1 tsp of sesame oil with however much pepper flake you wanna add (i usually use between 1 and 2 tbsp)#once the stew is done cooking add the silken tofu and the sesame oil mixture. stir it up. add more broth if you need to#and then if you want to. crack an egg or two into the stew and let it cook for a bit. then you turn off the stove and eat :]

} the past year or so has felt like the most consistent I've been in having breakfast at all in my entire life
#entirely random post to make I know#but I used to skip breakfast all the time throughout my years in school#and even after graduating from highschool I just skipped it so often that I kept doing so#but this past year I've had funds enough to get orders of probably the healthiest thing I ever eat#and on days I don't order I have kimchi ramen bowls which while they may not be the healthiest they're still great#healthier than most things I'd make otherwise anyway plus I'm getting more hydration considering there's a whole thing of broth too

My cooking is such a terrible fusion of "North side gentrifier 'organic Clean Eating Cafe' cuisine" and and instant Korean soup and I would never serve it to another human being but it suits my nutritional needs
#Curry cauliflower kale cabbage Brussels sprouts chickpeas quinoa chicken kimchi broth mushrooms bean sprouts#Doctors get so mad that I eat like this and am still 'obese' BTW it is part of why I document it#They're always like Eat Less McDonald's and I eat fucking. Lean meat and vegetables

Just salted 5kg of cabbages to make kimchi preserves.
My sister already ate all of last year's batch and has been nagging me to make new one, so I decided to make 5 times the amount than usual. I hope it lasts longer than last time.
Now I just need to let it sit and wait at least 8 hours to overnight and start adding the spicy paste tomorrow.
It'll be a busy day....
#cooking#hobby#shitposting#South Korea#Kimchi#preserved food#my sister is crazy for my homemade kimchi. even though I don't really eat kimchi that much myself.#I try to make it exotic by adding some pepperoncini and black pepper and katsuobushi broth. the ingredients make the result more savory.#also acidic seasonal fruit juice makes the fermentation process faster and flavorful.
