In IDW1, the only reason Megatron even started a war was because Whirl nearly beat him to death. Megatron probably has a higher kill count but by proxy you could attribute those kills to Whirl's poor jail conduct. ALSO, after the war Megatron massively chilled out and is one of the more normal people on the Lost Light. Whirl, on the other hand, kept up his really brutal streak. Shout out to Nautilator, the guy that surrendered who Whirl still blew-up because Whirl couldn't do a good-enough Optimus Prime impression (Nautilator's voice sounded like Megatron and Whirl wanted to recreate a battle between Optimus and Megs).

CCC Kongress wieder analog

CCC in Hamburg wieder zum "Anfassen"

So richtig analog und zum Anfassen startet in den letzten Tagen des Jahres wieder der CCC Kongress und diesmal (wieder) in Hamburg. Trotzdem werden die Veranstatungen auch im Stream zu sehen sein.  Das Motto des 37. Chaos Communication Congress ist "Unlocked". Mehr als 130 Veranstaltungen finden vom 27. bis 30. Dezember im Congress Center Hamburg (CCH) statt. Netzpolitik.org berichtet über das Programm und die Highlights.

Als Mundfish 2018 ihr Debütspiel Atomic Heart vorstellten, begegnete man dem Projekt mit Zweifeln und Skepsis. Die Vorstellung eines unsteten Shooters aus Osteuropa von einem unbekannten Studio klang vielversprechend, aber auch zu schön, um wahr zu sein. Doch mit der Zeit und weiteren enthüllten Informationen wurde klar, dass Atomic Heart eine einzigartige und faszinierende Bereicherung für die Spielwelt ist. Schnell vorwärts ins Jahr 2023 und es zeigt sich, dass die Zweifel unbegründet waren. Atomic Heart hat sich nämlich als ein Spiel erwiesen, das auf mehreren Ebenen überzeugt und den Spielenden ein rasantes, komisches und komplett verrücktes Erlebnis bietet. Major Nechaev: Ein Normalo in einer abnormalen Welt Eine der herausragenden Eigenschaften von Atomic Heart ist der Protagonist, Major Nechaev, Codename P-3. Nechaev ist zwar ein Superagent, aber was ihn auszeichnet, ist seine Alltäglichkeit als normaler Kerl in einer gänzlich irregulären und surrealen Welt. Im Gegensatz zu vielen typischen Helden in Spielen ist er nicht der hellste Kopf und sein primäres Ziel ist es, einen schönen Tag zu haben und gute Arbeit für seinen Chef zu leisten. Nechaevs emotionales Spektrum schwingt zwischen leichter Irritation und gerechtem Zorn, während er sich durch eine Welt kämpft, die scheinbar darauf aus ist, ihm jeden Schritt zu erschweren, oft mit tödlichen Folgen. Diese Bodenständigkeit zeigt sich auch in seinen Reaktionen auf die Absurdität der Situationen, die er durchlebt. Wenn er vor einer verschlossenen Tür steht, die erst nach dem Sammeln von Gegenständen aus drei unterschiedlichen Teilen einer unterirdischen Einrichtung geöffnet werden kann, kann Nechaev nicht anders, als die Logik hinter diesem Konzept zu hinterfragen. Es ist diese erdverbundene Perspektive, die ihn den Spielenden ans Herz wachsen lässt und zu einer sympathischen und nachvollziehbaren Figur macht. Charles: Der KI-betriebene Sidekick Die Interaktionen von Nechaev mit dem Spielcast sind nicht immer überzeugend, treffen aber ins Schwarze, wenn es um das Verhältnis zu Charles, seinem KI-betriebenen Sidekick, in einer Buddy-Cop-Dynamik geht. Charles ist das genaue Gegenteil von Nechaev – ruhig, gedankenreich und leise. Er dient als Expositionsmechanismus, der den Spielenden hilft, die oft weniger schlüssige Erzählung des Spiels zu verstehen. Doch Charles spielt auch eine entscheidende Rolle, um Nechaevs Menschlichkeit in einer außergewöhnlichen Lage zu unterstreichen. Ihre Dynamik fügt dem Spiel Humor und Tiefe hinzu und macht Nechaev noch liebenswerter. Ein ausgelassenes Actionerlebnis Wo Atomic Heart wirklich glänzt, ist in seinem actiongeladenen Gameplay. Die Erzählung des Spiels entfaltet sich in linearen, abgeschlossenen Bereichen wie Laboren, medizinischen Einrichtungen und unterirdischen Forschungsstätten, die alle in einer offenen Welt verbunden sind, in der unermüdlich Gegner spawnen. Obwohl die anfängliche Flut an Gegnern frustrierend sein kann, wird das Spiel zu einem Vergnügen, sobald die Spielenden geschickter werden, insbesondere, nachdem sie entdecken, dass sie die im ganzen Land verstreuten Lada-ähnlichen Fahrzeuge steuern können. Schnauzbärtige Killerroboter mit unterpowerten Fahrzeugen aus der Sowjetära zu überfahren, erweist sich als unglaublich befriedigend, auch wenn diese Gefährte eine Neigung zum Umkippen bei scharfen Kurven haben. Die spannende Gegenüberstellung von Spaß und Dunkelheit Ein besonders fesselnder Aspekt von Atomic Heart ist der krass Gegensatz zwischen dem albernen, ausgelassenen Gameplay und dem düsteren und ernsten Thema. Je weiter die Spielenden voranschreiten, desto klarer wird, dass in der Sowjetischen Sozialistischen Republik mehr vor sich geht, als es den Anschein hat. Je tiefer man eindringt, desto beunruhigender und störender wird die Geschichte. Dennoch bleibt das Gameplay konstant spaßig, was zu Dissonanzen führt, in denen man sich in berauschenden Kämpfen wiederfindet, während sich die Schrecken der Welt um einen herum entfalten.

Das Überraschungselement: Reiner Genuss Vielleicht das überraschendste an Atomic Heart ist, wie viel Spaß es macht. Während Spiele wie Stalker und Cradle für ihre ernsten und atmosphärischen Töne bekannt sind, schlägt Atomic Heart einen anderen Weg ein. Es schafft es, thematisch zu kontrastieren, und bietet doch von Moment zu Moment ein absolutes Spektakel. Die allumfassende Ästhetik des Spiels ist breit und etwas unkonventionell, aber diese Diskrepanz zwischen Thema und Gameplay trägt nur zu seinem Charme bei. Ob es darum geht, Killerroboter zu überfahren oder mit schrulligen Charakteren wie einem sprechenden Glitzerhandschuh, einem übersexualisierten Verkaufsautomaten oder einer mörderischen Frau in den 70ern, die in einem kybernetischen Baba-Jaga-Haus wohnt, zu interagieren, Atomic Heart weigert sich, Konventionen zu entsprechen. Zusammenfassend hat sich Atomic Heart als eine erfreuliche Überraschung in der Spielwelt erwiesen. Es verbindet Humor, Aktion und eine Spur von Absurdität in einem Paket, das, obwohl thematisch disparat, ein unglaublich genießbares Spielerlebnis bietet. Major Nechaevs nachvollziehbarer Charakter, die Dynamik mit Charles und der Kontrast zwischen Gameplay und Erzählung machen dieses Spiel zu einem Muss für diejenigen, die auf der Suche nach einem einzigartigen und unterhaltsamen Abenteuer sind.
