Unfortunately, I think we are headed for another pandemic and to be honest, I think we are already in the middle of it. I have basically 5 hospitals and over 100 clinics in our health system, and I have not seen it this bad since covid slammed us. All of our area hospitals are full, we can no longer depend on the CDC for truth on anything, and many doctors are sounding the alarm. We just opened our drive through testing facilities again. We are encouraging telehealth visits instead of in person if at all possible. Right now Covid, Flu, and RSV are running rampant... However, its this new mystery illness that is really going fucking nuts. In my direct department of 80+ people, I had 24 out with it in one week. Several of those turned into pneumonia .. 2 were hospitalized. Both me and my wife have had it. It felt like covid... Wife even lost her smell and taste. We both got tested for the usual stuff and it was all negative. Whatever this is, its highly contagious. It doesn't matter what we test for, it comes back negative. It feels like covid, hard to breathe, but with lots of sinus pressure, congestion, non productive cough, extreme fatigue, and lasts a long time. I took stronger steroids than usual, Methylprednisolone .. Helped a little.. Then about 10 days of antibiotics.. Ended up needing an inhaler for about a month. Same story with my wife, but hers turned into full blown pneumonia. Watch out for this shit. So far its not too deadly, but the fact is that no one knows what the hell it is. Maybe bird flu or something, but tests are coming back negative. There are plenty of theories out there, with some saying its some new strain of Human Meta pneumonia virus, bird flu, swine flu, and tuberculosis. The point is, you can no longer trust the CDC or any government health agency and even the media is under reporting it. Its all over the country. Honestly, the biggest killer right now is influenza A.. Its running rampant and resulting in a shit ton of hospitalizations.

First of all, Toby himself is covered in a lot of facial piercings so he is not one to judge! He loves piercings, especially on himself (egotistical asshole knows how sexy he is), so if you love them just as much him, he immediately just yaps with you

Do not trust him to give you one.

Now if you really like piercings but hate needles? He definitely bullies you about it some but understands. Since he can’t feel pain he can feel a lot of the pressures/intrusions that the pain usually covers up and it can weird him out

He plays with your piercings like a lot. Mostly nervous fidgeting type things

OMG DO YOU HAVE TO STAY ONTOP OF HIM IF HE GETS A NEW ONE, he is so bad at taking care of them himself but he’s so good about taking care of yours. Little weirdo

Now, Toby can be mean during fights so sometimes if he’s close enough he’ll twist one. Petty little shit. But he is quick to apologize, he just likes winning arguments

Jack like.. literally cannot see. So he genuinely just thinks your piercings are apart of you. Like he really doesn’t remember things of humans and so he completely forgot about minuscule things like piercings

He does like licking them tho, that nice metal taste

Once you actually explain it he’s a little perplexed. Since he’s an apex predator usually they associate things like anything piercing you as hindrance to hunts

But whatever makes you happy!

Since Jack does live in a lot of holes/caves you probably are gonna wanna let your piercings heal a lot or just clean them a lot more so the dust and dirt doesn’t infect/irritate them

If you wanna give Jack piercings well.. it’s gonna have to be like a really protected spot. He’s running around and climbing lots of trees not to mention how many people actually do try fighting a 6’10 demon..creature…thingy. So you don’t want him getting hurt

That and his healing factor literally is just too good at its job. Damn powers. But hey you can get those little fake ones! He’ll try to keep them on but…

Regarding your tags on the relationships post about if you want to talk crossovers too, how do you see Varney with the Harkers too in your scenario? given among other things their feelings towards vampires and vampire-hunting humans respectively? Mina is a strange case of someone who has been one foot on both worlds, who lost someone to a vampire, but she also knows his despair and spiraling well. Jonathan has been both vampire victim and vampire killer, but only met ones he ended up hating (sans his wife). An interesting mix!

The inbox is treating me so well lately.

Varney and the Harkers is a fun dynamic because the Harkers have never before met a vampire who is just an absolute clown at vampiring. Their initial intense suspicions of him cool rapidly when he panics at Jonathan's giant knife, tries to jump out the window and fails, then nearly passes out from hunger. Once they've sat down to talk to him a bit I think they'd be sympathetic; his situation would feel like a window into what nearly happened to Mina. Far from Dracula's enthusiastic sorcery and bloodthirst, Varney is just saddled with vampirism and has to deal with it. Mina "mercy kill me if I turn" Harker would relate to how he feels.

The poor dear. He doesn't like to shed blood, he's constantly being pursued by mobs and/or dying various horrible/embarrassing deaths, he struggles to keep himself fed...being a new vampire must be so rough. Wait, what do you mean he's 500 years old.

(The Harkers, nerds that they are, would be very interested in all the stories he has to tell. Although no one is more interested in the stories than baby Quincey, who has decided the funny long man is his new favorite babysitter.)

Meanwhile Varney, who is still lowkey scared of Jonathan due to a) him clocking Varney as a vampire on sight and b) the giant knife, doesn't want to impose on this set of young parents, no really you do NOT have to offer me blood I'll be fine I can stand [nearly falls over again]

...too late, pal, you've activated the Harker pack bonding instincts. They WILL offer you their guest room after a brief misunderstanding where they debate for 5 minutes about how to obtain proper grave soil while you attempt to explain that you would rather sleep in a bed. And then the next thing you know you're friends with all their friends and you babysit their child twice a week and they're inviting you over for Christmas dinner.

Varney can try to run away from his fate but the next angry mob will coincidentally wash him up on their doorstep again, and the final straw will be learning how much Quincey missed him while he was gone.

(He's conflicted. He remembers killing his own son, or he thinks he does. How can he be trusted around this boy? ...How can he bear to disappoint him?)

And that's how Varney becomes an uncle!

Ever since y/n, the Queen to the King of curses, died in a crossfire between a group of enemies infiltrating the Sukuna kingdom, the land she once ruled has never been the same.

The village people sung and held vigils for weeks, sometimes months, after she perished. Murals of her regal beauty were painted all around the village. The plant life seemed to change to a sad gray-blue color that could only mean that even the physical land of her kingdom was grieving as well. But no one, not even the royal land they stood upon, grieved as astoundingly as the king and princess of the Sukuna kingdom.

At just seven years old, Princess Eden had to stand in front of the people her family honorably ruled for centuries before her existence, and listen to her hell bound father tell them that their Queen had died. As she watched an uproar of anguished cries break out over the crowd, she found herself unable to comprehend how she herself should react in the moment. 

Eden is her father's daughter after all, so how could she be expected to portray herself as anything but fearless and cold-blooded?

It is still said that the news of Queen y/n’s death brought upon a great storm that lasted weeks over the land, and the rage of the king was felt by all of the village; like a shock wave that destroys everything only a few seconds after the bomb drops. 

This brewing storm only mirrored the storm growing inside of Eden; as the years went by and her father became more bound to his mission of hunting down his wife’s killers, it grew even more disastrous than the day before. 

But she poured every ounce of herself into the royal training the king insisted on her attending at the early age of ten, hoping to console that part of herself that has remained a distraught seven year old girl. 

Eden still practices for hours on the gray hills of grass behind the kingdom, learning to parry, riposte, and feint attacks with a wooden practice sword, just as she did under her father’s supervision in the start. 

Sometimes, she catches herself fighting as if she were the Queen in her final moments.

Did she feel the adrenaline Eden does as she slams the side of her sword against her imaginary opponent's? Did she also get bruises on her knees and shins? Queen y/n was known as the most skilled Queen with a sword in all of Sukuna history; did she remember that title in her final battle? 

If she did, Eden imagines that it must not have meant much in the face of death.

Sometimes, for a few moments, Eden believes that if she could go back in time with all that she knows now, and fiercely fight for her mother's legacy, she’d be able to save the once thriving kingdom her family created over centuries. 

But at the end of training, even if Eden is knocked down to the ground, or standing in triumph over her opponent, nothing she can do will bring her mother back; and nothing she can practice or dedicate herself to can distract her from that.

Despite all of this, Eden still goes back to the kingdom at dawn everyday, whether she's ready to face her father and the constant reminder of what she once had or not.

• This guy… I have a feeling he’ll be quite a menace towards you.

• Don’t get me wrong, he’s probably just curious! (No he’s not, he finds you rather cute.)

• When you’re not in any rounds, he’ll practically drag you to the couch in the lobby, and cuddle with you. (He’ll annoy you also.)

• He likes hearing you purr, and likes feeling the vibrations from you. It strangely soothes him.

• He does play with your ears and your tail, just swat at his hands, and he’ll put his hands up in feign surrender. (Keep an eye on that bastard.)

• When you’re in a round, he’ll immediately go and find you. Flipping his trustworthy (not) coin in the process. (He believes you’re walking luck for some reason.)

• He annoys you even when you’re doing generators, to reduce the time of the round. He plays with your ears and tail still. (He gets hit by spikes from John Doe, due to him being distracted…)

• Overall, he likes, if not loves annoying you.

(Shedletsky)

• …He gives you fried chicken. STRAIGHT UP. You’re a cat, no? Take the offered fried chicken!

• He’s just strangely interested in HOW and WHY you’re a cat. But he doesn’t question it.

• He does question if you need actual cat food and items however… (You don’t.)

• He yaps to you. A lot. You don’t mind it though, at least you get to listen to something to cure your boredom in the lobby.

• He does pull you to the couch also, cuddling you, causing him to fall asleep. (He ate too much fried chicken, that the mf fell asleep! 😭) You don’t mind it, for you enjoy laying and sleeping on him. (His stomach to be precise.)

• In rounds, he goes to find you, to protect you when you’re doing generators. (He’s got a sword, so trust him!)

• When Jason gets to you, he’s… Confused, to say the least.

• He doesn’t know what to do, does he just, let you live, or does he kill you and win for his mother?

• He let you live, as you woke up and practically tackled him and cuddled him, while somehow still asleep?? How.

• He’s confused by your appearance, but doesn’t question it. He does NOT talk, whatsoever, so…

• Overall, he’s chill with you too.

• We’ll say that you were an emotional support cat for him, as he doesn’t understand his own strength, and hurts most other kids and people.

• You get surprised time from time, but agree. (You end up drowsy afterwards, as he helps you.)

• He once found you and his bunny cuddled up together, and he secretly took a picture of it. (You both looked so adorable!!)

• He lets you sleep on his bed with him, cuddled up together. And when I tell you he’s so gentle with you when you’re asleep… It’s a stark contrast to how he is with people in debt.

• He sometimes throws his coat over you, which you almost flop down from. Causing him to snort a little at it.

• Overall? He can be very chill, but also a little prick sometimes.

James comes from a pretty tough place in his life.

After the death of his wife, he went to Silent Hill for either answers or clarity...

Then all of a sudden he's here, in an entirely new hell where he has to face creatures and killers beyond comprehension.

I've said this in previous posts about him, but James is extremely delusional and mentally unstable.

This is a man who killed his wife while she was dying in the hospital.

He's a man plagued with depression and has thought of ending it quite a lot.

When it comes to his obsession, he most likely sees you like he did with Mary, his wife.

He's often tormented by how much you remind him of her (regardless of gender).

This makes James conflicted enough as is.

At first, James doesn't want to admit he's falling for you.

He doesn't believe he deserves to be loved or even feel love again.

He feels panicked when he feels his cheeks warm or his chest beat faster.

He tells himself you don't even mean to make him feel this way.

You're just helping him survive, you're a survivor.

The only reason you help him is to benefit yourself.

Yet he's over here getting all bothered because you're paying attention to him.

He's pathetic and he knows it.

Despite his denial, he still feels his feelings getting stronger.

He falls fast due to how unstable he is.

Deep down James wants to chase how you make him feel.

He wants you to drown him in your everything, to make him forget about Mary.

He craves your kisses, warmth, hold, all of it.

He wants that so bad, he doesn't care how wrong any of it is.

He wants you to help him cope, but none of it is healthy.

He doesn't deserve to feel possessive or jealous.

He doesn't deserve you.

Yet isn't it human nature to want something you can't have?

James is unpredictable, always too deep in his delusions and hallucinations.

Now's not the time for any of that... You need to survive.

Unfortunately... James can't ignore the envy he feels forever.

He's aware he's a horrible person, a monster probably just as bad as all the others here.

Yet he craves you like you're his sanctuary.

James gets irritable when he sees you with other survivors.

He sometimes even hates how Mary seems to haunt him in your features.

James can never seem to cope properly.

His poor obsession is often a victim of this.

James tends to cling to his obsession.

He's either always following you or trying to pull you into tight hugs.

He's a possessive man, always muttering and asking you to forgive him.

He knows he shouldn't be doing any of this, he should leave you alone.

Yet he continues his actions, often pleading for you to forgive him until someone pries him off.

James has frequent unstable thoughts.

He plots how to harm or get rid of other survivors, even if they'll just come back.

There's even some brief delusional thoughts he has about Mary, making him target you.

It's terrifying when he pins you to a tree, hands around your neck as he calls you 'Mary'.

You're scared to die, even if it doesn't matter in this place.

James has no morals, not anymore.

James is aware of his failing mental state.

In fact... He knows how to use it.

James knows he should be ashamed of playing victim... but...

It gets you to play attention to him.

If James opens up to you, something he usually hates doing, he can garner your pity.

If he tells you about his depression... his darker thoughts... you'll comfort him.

You won't pay attention to anyone else if he steals your attention, right?

He doesn't care if he's manipulating you.

Your eyes are on him... you're holding him... you're comforting him...

He hopes you'll let him kiss your lips too, he wants to taste you.

James is a pathetic man who can't figure out what he wants.

He wants you to tend and care for him, to make him forget about Mary.

At the same time he views your presence as torture, only able to see Mary in you.

James isn't sure how much he can take.

Maybe this really is hell.

Maybe you're meant to be his torment, a worse torment compared to all the monsters in this place.

James hates it at times... but you're all he ever wants.

He's addicted to you, no matter how violent it makes him.

The others know him as a liability.

But he needs you.

Every kiss and ounce of affection... He takes it.

Even if you didn't want to give it.

James is a pathetic and selfish man.

He used to deny that, but he knows it now.

James would do anything to keep you to himself.

Manipulation, murder, it doesn't matter in the end really...

Killer Croc's little bro was apparently in Gotham.

How did everyone know? Because he was seen physically dragging said older brother out of the sewers and into the nearest cafe.

And Killer Croc was just. So docile??? He was shy, a bit nervous, amused, and was practically harmless. Which wasn't something anyone would have associated with Killer Croc.

And the fact that said little bro can lift him up easily too? What kind of parents did they have for their son to be able to lift up the Killer Croc so easily?

Meanwhile, Jack just doesn't get why everyone reacts negatively to his big brother, it's not like he was a ghost for goodness sake and yea he's working on not being like he was before his son revealed himself to be part ghost, but still.

His brother was still human, just extra.

Why did Jack come to Gotham? He was kinda maybe forced out the house to go and find his brother because he liked talking about him but never actually went out to find him.

Jack and Croc may be half-brothers, yes, but he's still family.

Jack strongarms Killer Croc into not living in, well, the sewers and at his house he bought when he came to Gotham and they both caught up with each other's lives. Jack told Croc about his family, and by extension the shit views he's had on ghost because it was a major part in their family dynamics, and Croc told him about his own life in Gotham.

Minus the more gruesome, parts.

Killer Croc lives with him for a while and notices that he didn't really seem to care for his life. Which is a major no to Croc, who tries to get him to gain some amount of self-preservation, yes he knows that his little bro is more durable than the average human has any right to be but please for the sake of your big bro's heart, please take care of yourself.

Jack is a bit floored by this, and tries to wave it off as a non-issue. But if Jack can strongarm Croc into living with him, then Croc can definitely strongarm Jack into things as well.

Busting through walls is fine, alright. He gets it, it's very fun. But please don't stick random things into your mouth that can kill you, nor follow strangers down an alleyway and shrug off a stabbing (Killer Croc had some choice words and actions for the person who did such a thing.), and please, please practice stranger danger, little bro. Please.

No, he doesn't give two, three, four, five or ten fucking shits if you have microsurgeons in your blood that gives you a superhuman healing factor, you can still feel pain little bro, and stop skipping meals and sleep to work on your inventions! No, you cannot substitute either for energy drinks!

one of my favorite bits about forrest's whole deal is that he's coming from what's safe to assume a longass background in the entertainment industry but in a much larger and complex scale than what he's dropped in when we play, so narratively he can come across as outright rude and gruff with constantly comparing the town to a big city and absolutely zoning out when people talk to him, but 1) he's openly homesick af, 2) outside of work, he's in what's an incredibly different environment than where he's lived for decades, and 3) he might not actually be used to the majority of his coworkers being as nice as peggy and the others seem to be. others in their positions may generally have bad reputations where he comes from, and he was constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop and their true colors to show. whistling night accelerated his realizing that at least with some of them, they genuinely are just cool.
