The Incredible Story of my Friend's Daughter who was saved from Family Code
Yesterday, I encountered a friend who shared a unsettling story about his family. According to him, an individual visited the nursery and attempted to retrieve his young daughter, claiming that her father had sent him. Recalling this story still sends a shiver down my spine. Thankfully, of the careful wife of my friend, who had established a family code, prevented a potential tragedy. Upon being…

dear minors on tumblr
hello everyone and welcome to another rant about internet safety and boundaries.
Since I’ve gotten many messages from minors because I’m one of the few blogs in this community that allow them. It’s my responsibility as a 20 year old interacting with teens and kids to give tips for when they interact with adults.
age: Never ever lie about your age, it puts both parties in danger. It’s important they know your age so they can adapt to your age group.
If an adult ever lies about their age don’t contact them again, and that’s period.
lying or misleading about age is not only dangerous but also illegal. So you can avoid many dangers if you’re honest.
Jokes:
as a minor you can joke about whatever you want but remember if an adult engages in sexual jokes with you even if your the one what started them. It’s a red flag, an adult has no business talking sex or sexuality with a minor.
Even if it’s a joke it still shows a lot about the person if they make resist, ableist, discriminating and disrespectful jokes or comments. If they always and can only use dark humor to be funny and nothing else. It’s a red flag as well.
questions:
Don’t ever give them your phone number, full name, address. Don’t ever send pictures of yourself, your house, school or things that can identify you. Even if it’s a picture of your tummy or you in your school uniform. It’s a red flag if someone ever asks you about anything this personal.
General:
don’t answer to personal questions
set boundaries about what you can talk about
tell your parents and friends who you interact with online
take a few breaks and reflect on how they make you feel
if they ever lie about something, personality, interests, hobbies to connect more with you it’s a red flag
and finally my dear kids before I let you go,
a no is a complete sentence
a block is an answer
speaking up is very brave
setting boundaries are mature
and finally you don’t need to grow up faster, enjoy your 18 years of childhood and teenage fun

Summer Safety Tips for Kids
Summer Safety Tips for Kids
Summer Safety Tips for Kids: Keeping Them Healthy and Happy
Introduction: As summer approaches and kids eagerly anticipate outdoor adventures and fun in the sun, it’s essential for parents and caregivers to prioritize their safety and well-being. From sun protection to water safety, there are several important considerations to keep in mind to ensure that kids stay healthy, happy, and safe during the summer months. In this blog post, we’ll explore some key summer safety tips for kids to help parents and caregivers navigate the season with confidence and peace of mind.
1. Sun Protection: One of the most critical summer safety measures for kids is protecting their skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays. Ensure that children wear sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher whenever they’re outdoors, even on cloudy days. Teach them to apply sunscreen generously to all exposed areas of skin, including their face, arms, legs, and neck. Encourage them to wear wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses with UV protection, and lightweight, long-sleeved clothing for additional sun protection.
2. Hydration: Keeping kids hydrated is essential, especially during hot summer days when they’re more susceptible to dehydration. Encourage children to drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if they don’t feel thirsty. Pack reusable water bottles for outings and activities, and remind kids to take regular water breaks, particularly during outdoor play or sports.
3. Water Safety: Whether swimming in pools, lakes, or oceans, water safety is paramount for children during the summer months. Always supervise kids when they’re in or around water, even if they’re proficient swimmers. Enroll children in age-appropriate swim lessons to teach them essential water safety skills and proper swimming techniques. Ensure that pools are fenced and equipped with safety features like locked gates and pool alarms to prevent accidents.

Bloody Hearts Bingo Day 8
Prompt: Sweetheart, General | Helping somebody take care of themselves
Orihime wanted to pace. She wanted to be moving, to be doing something other than keeping the hot packs warm as Ishida-kun shuddered in his bundle of blankets.
They'd thought everything was going well. The decision to go to Urahara hadn't been made yet, but they were feeling good- the quiet nagging feeling of hunger had faded, and Orihime could tell that they were all stronger- just a little, just enough to be able to adapt to and ignore, just enough so that fighting Hollows was a bit easier than it had been. Orihime had dared to be hopeful- maybe they could just live like this, maybe Urahara wouldn't push too far and they could keep up this neat little balance.
And then Ishida-kun had gotten sick.
It had started out as a complaint of nausea the last time they'd gathered- hardly uncommon, unfortunately, Orihime was aware that her cooking was sometimes a bit much for those not used to it- but it hadn't faded like that kind of thing usually had. When Sado-kun had tried to check his temperature, instead of the fever they'd expected Ishida-kun was freezing, far colder than he should have been in the late summer.
Orihime had thought that Urahara's work had been helping the way that Ishida-kun's powers were missing- he'd still been able to see Hollows, after all, and though he couldn't fight them he was incredibly useful in their rambles to help put spirits to rest. But Ishida-kun was really sick now, barely able to hold himself up and shivering like he was stuck in Antarctica during a storm even so bundled up he looked like a moth in a cocoon. It had hit fast, too- he'd complained of nausea only a few hours before.
Kurosaki-kun was pacing, turning around and around even as he made sure to keep the hot packs warm whenever Orihime passed one to him to reheat. Sado-kun was sitting in his usual sky-watching spot, hands clenched on his knees in an attempt to keep from breaking anything.
"We need to talk to Urahara," Kurosaki-kun finally declared, trading a butterfly-patterned hot pack for one shaped like a penguin. "Either he did this on purpose, in which case we kick his ass, or he didn't, and he can help."
They'd kept going back and forth on confronting Urahara, but they hadn't made a decision when there was only a risk to their safety in doing something. Now that doing nothing was a risk as well, the decision was easier.
Orihime nodded, squeezing her hands together for a long moment. "Shun'o and Ayame can't do anything about this- they can't tell what needs to be rejected, it's all too bound together in there. Urahara-san's the only one who could help with this."
Necessity might have been the mother of invention, after all, but it was also the aunt of desperation and quite fond of drop-kicking solutions off cliffs. It hardly mattered whether he was trustworthy or if he was going to demand more from them if he could actually solve the problem, and Orihime did not want to see any more of the people she cared about dead.
Sado-kun just nodded, uncurling to squeeze Kurosaki-kun on the shoulder. Kurosaki-kun went still, head bowed and breathing slow and steady for a few long moments, then nodded back and dug out his phone.
Urahara-san immediately invited them over, and Orihime added three more blankets to the cocoon and tucked all her hot packs into the layers to try and keep Ishida-kun from freezing on their journey. Sado-kun picked him up with all the apparent effort of lifting an egg roll, and Kurosaki-kun led their little group to the Shouten with the kind of face that scared small children and most gangsters.
Urahara-san was at the door, waiting for them, and the second he saw Ishida-kun, the semblance of cheer that he wore like makeup vanished like mist at dawn.
They all followed him down to the lab, and Urahara-san didn't protest, just pulled out a handful of stools and showed them things to do while he worked. Orihime stepped up to help- Ishida-kun was mostly floppy instead of cooperative- and the others settled in to watch and make sure that everything they needed was in reach.
It took two hours. Two hours of Sado-kun holding Ishida-kun up while he lost what little water they managed to get down his throat while Orihime held his bangs out of his face and Urahara kept his kido going. Two hours of Kurosaki-kun making sure that all of them choked down dry toast and saltines and ginger tea and rinsing out the bowls of bile. Two hours of steady work with kido and injections and sharp needles and the kinds of things that Orihime was fairly certain that she should have been more worried about.
But Ishida-kun stopped shivering and managed to eat two slices of toast and a sleeve of saltines and sriracha on cucumbers (Orihime's favorite anti-nausea food, along with a useful source of hydration) and drained an entire bottle of the pedialyte-ish fluid Urahara had sitting in a fridge in the corner. Urahara didn't even ask for anything, just shooed them off to the room that they'd slept in on previous nights and promised to keep checking in to make sure that everything worked properly.
And when Ishida-kun woke up, he summoned sparks of reishi like he'd never lost that ability. He was still weak, still weary, but at that moment Orihime knew their fate was decided. For the debts they owed, for the proof of help and care, for the assurance of future safety, Orihime was well aware that she'd do almost anything to keep her end of the implicit bargain. It worried her less than she'd thought it would, and from the looks on everyone else's faces she was certain that they agreed.

What's up? The Best Kayaking Tips for Kids with 10 Naples
Kayaking for kids can be thrilling and amazing family adventures in Naples, Florida with all its calm waters, stunning coastal scenery, and abundant wildlife. Proper planning, however, and an in-built knowledge would further enhance these qualities. Some expert tips on kayaking with kids in Naples include the following:
1. Location Setting
A lot of kayaking areas are family-oriented. You will also want to consider such very great places where shallow calm waters are few or there are hardly occasional boat traffic: Clam Pass Park, Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park, or the backwaters surrounding Big Hickory Island. These places feature mangroves and marine wildlife, where you can paddle without worrying about strong currents or waves.
2. Kayak Selection
Choose a stable kayak that has enough space for both you and your child. The most popular type among families is the tandem kayak, which permits parents to paddle while their children ride along in the other cockpit, so children won't have to miss out on paddling if they don't want to paddle all the time. Besides that, as they have better balance and are easy to re-enter after falling into the water, sit-on-top kayaks are ideal for kids. You can also get smaller single kayaks for older kids, which are easy to maneuver.
3. Prioritize Safety
When going kayaking, safety is the first priority. Ensure each wearer fits into the life vest as prescribed regardless of swimming skills. Before going, have a talk on water safety rules. That should include seating in the kayak, the correct way of holding onto a paddle, and not leaning over. Carry a first-aid kit, sunscreen, and lots of water to keep hydrated.
4. Check the Weather and Tides
The general weather of Naples is conducive for outdoor activities. However, it may change abruptly. Hence, the need to check the weather forecast and tide schedules before traveling. Don't kayak during high winds or choppy waters, but go early in the morning or late in the afternoon at peak heat.
5. Make the Journey Short and Sweet
Children usually have short attention spans and get bored quickly. Start with a short, one- to two-hour trip. Go to a place where there are interesting things to see, such as mangrove tunnels, sandy beaches, and areas where dolphins and manatees are frequently sighted. Stop often for snacks, drinks, or a brief dip into the water.
6. Pack Essentials for Kids
Bring the things that will make the stay-in-shape activities pleasurable for your little ones, like some extra snacks, water, hats, and of course sunglasses. Waterproof bags store the extra clothes, towels, and electronics. Also, to evoke some real fun, you can take along a petite net for kids to catch and release tiny little life-forms or shells.
7. Make it Informative
Educate while having fun kayaking. Show all the different plants and animals from herons to ospreys to mangrove trees and walk-through explaining ecosystems before putting on a face like that to have it all without caring about the environment. Many children find this practical way of learning exciting and memorable.
8. Engage Kids With Games And Activities
The kids will never have time to be bored when playing their own games with their parents on the kayak. The possibilities are endless at this point, from their favorite-"I Spy"-spying wildlife to patent paddling races if old enough. Games make it more fun and also double up to help improve their confidence and paddling skills.
9. Try Out Patience and Flexibility
One should adopt a relaxed and flexible attitude for kayaking with kids. Be prepared to modify your plans depending on their energy levels, moods, and interests. Allocate time for unplanned breaks along the way to allow for exploration and stops. Everyone involved should enjoy themselves and be in a positive experience.
10. Go on a Guided Family Tour
For first-time paddlers or those not familiar with the waterways in Naples, consider joining a guided family tour. Mike's Coastal Expeditions offers safety, equipment, and local knowledge in an expert-led tour for families.
Conclusion
Kayaking with kids in Naples is brilliant, as this can be very valuable family time while enjoying the grandeur of nature surrounding this beautiful city. With the right preparations, safety kits, and lots of focus on fun, you can bring home such timeless memories for little adventurers. So grab your paddles, pack light, and get ready for another memorable day on the water!

Hey so I lived in tick areas growing up, don't forget to check in between fingers and toes (especially on little ones, they like to roam in grass like ticks do so they often end up in weird places), and also check behind the ears and in the folds of the ears (I found one in there when I was like 11 and it was weird)
But this is all really good and solid advice. If you do end up with a tick on you, the treatment we went with was a qtip dipped in tea-tree oil placed directly on the tick, but that's an aussie method, it always worked for us and our dogs, it kinda dries them out and kills them without the head remaining attached to your body.
I'm trying to write a post about tick safety and avoiding tick bites, but a lot of the info on websites is like "Avoid going in the woods, in plants, and where there are wild animals" and "Activities like hiking and gardening can put you at risk" and I'm like thanks! This is worthless!
As ticks and tick borne illnesses are expanding their range, I think it's important for people to be educated about these things, and I think it's especially important to give people actual advice on how to protect themselves instead of telling them to just...avoid the natural world
Rough draft version of Tick Advice:
Ticks don't jump down on you from trees, they get on you when you brush against grass, brush, bushes etc.
Ticks get brought to an area when they get done feeding from an animal and fall off them. In the USA, the main tick-bringing animal is deer, but I've seen plenty ticks on feral cats and songbirds.
Ticks get killed when they dry out so drier areas with more sunlight are less favorable to ticks.
The above is useful for figuring out whether an area is likely to have lots of ticks, and how vigilant you have to be in that area.
Wear light-colored, long pants outside. Tuck your pants into your socks, and tuck your shirt into the waist of your pants. Invest in light, breathable fabrics idc
IMMEDIATELY change out of your outside clothes when you come back from a tick-prone area, wash them, and dry them on high heat to kill any ticks that might be stuck on.
Shower and check yourself for ticks after coming inside. Hair, armpits, and nether regions in particular. You can use a handheld mirror or rely on touch; an attached tick will feel like a bump kinda like a scab
While you're outside, you can just periodically check for ticks by running your hands down your legs and checking visually to see if anything is crawling on your clothes. Light colors make them easy to spot, and they don't move fast.
Combing through each others' hair to check for creepy crawly critters is a time-honored primate ritual and is not weird. When hiking, bring a friend who will have your back when you feel something on your neck and need to know if it's sweat or a tick
If you're careful, you can usually catch ticks before they bite you, but if one does bite you, it's not the end of the world. Since tickborne diseases are different regionally i suspect this advice will differ based on where you are, but the important thing is remove the tick with tweezers (DON'T use butter, a lit match, or anything that kills the tick while it's still attached, please) and contact a doctor to see what to watch for. Most illnesses you can catch from ticks are easily treatable if you recognize them when symptoms first appear
#random#ticks#nature#safety#psa#this is all great advice#i hope my additions kinda help#but these are all aussie bogan methods#we also have paralysis ticks here and they are nasty#the in between the fingers tip comes from when my mum found one between my fingers as a kid#officals may dispute the tea-tree method but it always worked for us with no side effects to our health or pet's health#idk these are just the things i learned as a bush kid#dad is a ranger so we went hiking a lot#idk just additions#i hope they help#also be careful of removing the tick bc the head can detach and still cause health issues/disease

TLDR; don't show your kids on the internet.
This has been said about a billion times on the internet but, some people still don't know so;
Dear mom and dads of the internet, espetially of young children,
PLEASE. Avoid showing your child's face online, even on a private account, no account is truly private.
PLEASE avoid showing your child in diaper, underwear, swimsuits, shirtless, and so on. Only show your child fully clothed.
If you can't get a shot while your child is fully clothed, censor it. Add an emoji, and censoring in editing your photos/videos.
PLEASE.
It WILL make your video / photo reach a terrible terrible audiance, no matter how many sweet comments there are, no matter how few people tell you, no matter how "protected" your account is.
Do NOT share bath time photos/videos, no matter how old they are, no matter how cute and wholesome they are, Do not.
"But I want to give bathing tips" do it using your words and a bath tub without a child in it. Do is using a baby doll, do it using literally anything that isn't a real life child.
Do not, for the love thay all that is good, put your own child, or someone else's child in such a vulnerable spot.
Even pictures and videos of your child sleeping should mostly be avoided.
I know you find them adorable, I know you want to share them with the world, but sadly, the world is filled with bad people, who wish to do bad things to your child and other children, protect them and spread awareness and be concious.
Maybe they won't be vocal, but creeps and pedos are everywhere, they are lurking, they are watching, and they know how to get their way.
Also, with the rise of AI and the malicious things it can do, the things that can be done with pictures of your child are even worse nowdays.
Please be concious, the internet isn't like a cute photo album you share with only your loved ones, it's not an at home recorded tape on cassetes you sit down to watch with your loved ones, it's like taking a picture and posting it on a huge billboard in the middle of a large city. "But my page is small, no one will find it"
All it takes is one download. There are so many ways around even sites that don't let you download content, like screenshots & screen recordings, websites that can download pictures and videos from just a URL and so on.
Even just sending pictures to loved ones,
You never truly know.
For an example, you may send your mother a picture of your baby being adorable, and she'll find it cute, so she'll send it to your aunt, who'll send it to your cousins, who'll send them to their friends, who'll send them to their own friends, and so on, and it may end up reaching terrible people like that.
Or you'll share a picture on your story, it'll be screenshotted and shared by your friends, and then their friends, and then bad people...
I'm saying this as someone who's mother has albums upon albums on facebook of her kids, and only has family and friends on her very private facebook, yet somehow, when I was a toddler, she shared an adorable picture of me sleeping, and from one way to another, within her 253 friends, who are only work colleagues, friends and family, and a number which was much, much lower back in the day, that picture of me was shared enough for it to end up on an auction site, belonging to some pedophile ring. Just because my mother thought a picture of her todler sleeping was adorable and wanted to share it with her loved ones, on her private account.
Please, consider your child's safety on the internet, always.
You wouldn't bring your child in just a diaper and t-shirt to the grocery store or on a walk, the internet is much less safe than that.
Also, please be aware that with the right ammount of knowledge and the wrong intents, from a picture, you can trace things like the IP address (device number basically) it was posted with, and find who it belongs to, and link that to the person it belongs to and where they live.
With just the right ammount of knowledge, that is easily findable on the same internet you are reading this on, and the same internet you post pictures of your child on, someone could devise a plan to find out where you and your child live, and devise a plan to come take them.
Now, I know this sounds like just a big post to scare you, and like it's a lot of "what if's" and "this would only happen in a movie", but it does happen. Often, with the sweetest, kindest people in your life, whom you'd never expect it to. Also often with complete strangers you would have no ideas how they even found your account in the first place.
Nothing is ever truly private and anonymous on the internet, please. Keep your children and yourself safe.
For the same reason you wouldn't post naked pictures of yourself and your friends online,
For the same reason you wouldn't leave a child alone in a public space,
For the same reason as so many things,
No one likes being vulnerable,
Please, do not make your child publicly vulnerable.
You love them. Don't put them in danger.
Please, help repost this if you can, and feel free to add tags so this can reach as many parents and future parents as possible,
Do feel free to add on other reasons to keep kids off the internet if you have any, espetially psychology advice like the long lasting effects it can have on children and so on, I don't have the kind of knowledge in children's psychology to add all of those, so if anyone does, please, feel free to share it and help out parents from all over,
Feel free to translate this into any language to reach a broader audiance
Let's all spread love, peace and safety for a brighter, beautiful future for us and for children ❤️❤️
