Kayaking in Alappuzha (Alleppey) offers a unique and intimate way to experience the serene beauty of Kerala's backwaters. Here's a brief overview:
Exploration of Backwaters:
Kayaking allows you to navigate the narrow canals and waterways that houseboats often cannot reach, providing a closer look at the local ecosystem and village life.
You can witness the lush greenery, diverse birdlife, and traditional Kerala homes that line the backwaters.
Cultural Immersion:
Kayaking trips often involve interactions with local villagers, offering a glimpse into their daily routines and culture.
It's a more personal and eco-friendly way to experience the backwaters compared to larger boat tours.
Variety of Experiences:
Tours can range from short, leisurely paddles to longer excursions, with options for sunrise or sunset kayaking.
Many tours include opportunities for birdwatching, exploring mangrove tunnels, and enjoying local snacks.
Key features:
The experience is very peacefull.
Many operators offer guided tours, that add local knowledge to the trips.
It is a good way to see the smaller canals that larger boats cannot access.
In essence, Alappuzha kayaking provides a tranquil and enriching experience, allowing you to connect with nature and local culture in a unique way.

At first glance, this looks like a picture of some mountains. However, if you look closer, you'll see a weird shape in the upper right of the sky. That's because it's not the mountains you see, but their reflection in a pristine, clear, mountain lake. Flip your phone around and you'll see the actual mountains, their reflection in the water and the edge of the kayak in the bottom left. Amazing.

Lake Eikesdalsvatnet is a hidden gem of Norway with crystal clear water.
Lake Eikesdalsvatnet is located in Nesset, between two small villages - Øresfjord and Eikesdal. Lake Eikesdalsvatnet is long and narrow, about 18 kilometers long, and is the largest lake in the county of Møre og Romsdal. The average depth of the lake is 89 meters. A road was built along Eikesdalsvatnet, which opened in 1990. Before that, there was only a ferry service between Eikesdal and Øresfjord.
The main tributaries of Eikesdalsvatnet are the Aura River, flowing northwest from Lake Aursjøen, and the Mardola River with the famous Mardalsfossen waterfall. The lake itself flows through the Eira River, which flows into the Øresfjord. Lake Eikesdalsvatnet is surrounded by mountains ranging from 1,500 to 1,800 metres high, such as Juratinden and Flotatinden.
