Since it's pride month and I'm a lonely queer person I decided to do a quick rundown of my hc for the DigiDestined's identities. This is disregarding the epilogue bc to heck with that let these kids be queer in peace

Now I don't like to discuss the sexuality of young children purely bc they are children and I am an adult and that's weird so I'm basing this on what little knowledge I have of them in Tri alongside what I know from 01. This is them as adults ok? ok here we go

(also um. I'm a dumb millennial that lives in a corn field so uh. If I get something wrong please correct me orz)

Tai: bisexual. As if there was any other answer. Something about him just gives off 'bisexual guy' vibes. Maybe because I think he'd be a total golden retriever boyfriend and those types are usually bi

Sora: non-binary. Her upbringing kind of forced her into being feminine when she really just doesn't want to participate in gender at all

Matt: I'm gonna say pansexual bc to him it literally does not matter. He likes who he likes. Also demisexual and possibly demiromantic. He has to have a strong connection for feelings to develop

Izzy: Ace all day babyyyy. To him, sex is for making babies, but not in a religious way. He isn't sex-repulsed, it's just not a priority

Joe: the cis-hetero ally of the group. You know he's the designated driver to all the Pride events

Mimi: LESBIAN LESBIAN LESBIAN She's a high femme lesbian and she likes other femmes, butches, chapstick lesbians, just WOMEN. and she beats up TERFs bc trans women are women DUH

TK: doesn't wanna put a label on it right now, man, he's into what he's into and he'll figure it out later, my guy. A few months later he realizes he's bi and has to call Matt at 3am bc he's having a crisis, he got an iced latte that day and the male barista smiled at him and now he's having his first Gay Panic

Kari: also bi, the Kamiya family makes bi people like they have a quota to meet. She hooked up with Yolei once and it was fun. Now they listen to Chappell Roan together ❤️

Davis: the hyperactive gay guy of the found family. Falls in love at least once a month. Is terrible at hitting on guys but they always think it's endearing

Yolei: trans girl, lesbian. The others will line up to absolutely obliterate any transphobes that give her problems. She wants an idyllic lesbian romance with absolutely no children

Cody: aro/ace and unbothered by everyone else's romantic life. Don't bring the 'Tai and Matt used to make out all the time in high school' gossip to Cody, he literally does not care lol

Ken: he is gay and hopelessly in love with Davis. He sighs dreamily as Davis tries to do parkour and smacks into the ground like a wad of wet paper

His eyes are on you the WHOLE TIME. He might get distracted and take a hit or two

You’re a bad ass, but still... he worries

When he sees you clashing swords with an enemy, he has to bite his tongue and halt his movements. He knew how much you disliked when he got in your way in a battle, so he respected your requests.

He knows he shouldn’t let his emotions cloud his judgement in battle. He’s representing squad six after all, so he has to be mindful.

However, the moment he sees your blood dripping off the enemy’s sword. Game over. He doesn’t care how mad you and Byakuya get, he’ll go ape shit crazy. He’ll step in Zabimaru in one hand and holding you with the other.

Ichigo

I don’t know man he’s like weird

Sometimes he’s risking his life to get you out of the fight. Other times he’s like nah that’s my baby they’re going to kick your ass.

He’s not very experienced in battle etiquette, so he doesn’t know how to fake a platonic relationship in front of enemies. Which can be very bad

If you’re both going into enemy territory, he likes to give you a kiss right before. EVEN if you guys fought beforehand

If your life is in serious threat, like this one hit will kill you. Ichigo will drop everything and take that hit for you. Your enemy is fucked is all I’m saying. One of the few times he loses full control of his hollowfication is when your life is in danger

Izuru

If you’re in a multiple battle kind of setting he will be aware of his surroundings at all time.

He’ll purposely lead his enemy to an are behind you, so he can watch your back while he’s in battle himself.

He thought you basic medical training so he’s not tooooooooo worried, but he still keeps it in mind to look out for you.

Even though he does take all these precautions, he’s a very work comes first type of guy. He knows that you can defend yourself and as a lieutenant, he can’t prioritize others safety over the mission... even if it is you

I’m not kidding if his enemy is weak and yours is stronger and it looks like you’re having a hard time.... He’ll get his Wabisuke SUPER heavy and chuck it at your opponents head, his opponent can be handled with kido

Shuhei

Watching you fight... kind of turns him on ngl

He knows you can take care of yourself, but seeing you take some high level hollows down in a breeze swells his chest with pride

Before and after any battle or mission, he likes to take in your scent before you depart. Not sure how this tradition started, but every time... he’ll nuzzle his nose in the crevice of your neck

Don’t expect him to interfere, his morals resembles Tōsen’s. He’ll be very cool headed and think rationally(unlike Renji and *cough* Ichigo). When everything is over he’ll tell you what you need to improve on.

Althoug he prefers not to interfere, he will release his Kazeshini for you. No mater how much he dislikes the killing purpose of his Zanpakutō, he’ll do it for you and will raise hell along with it.

I was wondering if I could get some headcanons on shinigami and their squads? We've seen how Renji & co. have gone through the academy being taught had, kido, & combat but how do you think shinigami are placed into their divisions? Do they just choose themselves? Are captains given a list of potentials and give out "recommendation letters" like colleges? Do they apply or is it based off skills? I can't remember if this has been explained in Bleach already but if it has feel free to ignore this!

Ok so some of this we do get in canon (in Color Bleach+: The Bleach Official Bootleg) but I’ll add my own stuff too! I love talking about this kind of stuff even if it came up in canon :D

So we know for sure that each Division advertises their division to Academy students who decide which division they want to apply for (or even if they want to apply for the Kido Corps rather than the Gotei). For example, Momo was planning to apply for the Kido Corps initially - if I remember correctly she changed her mind after Aizen saved her and Renji and everyone.

It also seems like it is ultimately someone in the division’s choice. I’m pretty sure I remember that Kyouraku deliberately made sure that Nanao ended up in 8th after she applied for 8th.

I think this is about all we know canonically so my idea from there is that they must apply to a number of divisions. Once they graduate the Academy they have to go into Kido Corps and Gotei (they’re not exactly going to let them lose in Rukongai) so they must have to be accepted somewhere and those who aren’t good enough to graduate either get held back or turned out on the streets (maybe even prison like the Maggots Nest if they’re dangerous enough).

Something else worth noting is that those who retire from the Gotei have to give up their zanpakutou - but from what I can tell it doesn’t seem like Academy students are expected to have shikai by graduation. Again an example is that Izuru originally joined 5th and then 4th but moved to 3rd when he got shikai and found it wouldn’t be any use to 4th division work.

Probably a seated member (and I would think pre-SS arc when things were calmer) a vice-captain would look through the applicants. They would probably also have information such as test scores and reports written by teachers detailing what of the four disciplines they’re best at and how strong they are etc. As I mentioned before probably everyone has to join a division so as long as it’s felt they’ll fit in they’re probably offered a place.

It would seem to me that places like 3rd, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 13th are more ‘generic divisions’ - but this could also be that we didn’t find out any specialities about them.

1st as the head commander’s division is probably for those with very good scores already.2nd is obviously in charge of stealth and discipline and such.4th is healing so while I imagine many join, it probably has a high turn over depending on shikai abilities. 5th, I believe has mentioned doing well at kidou but also given the front Aizen was putting on - they probably accepted most anyone.6th - taking some sort of pride in your work, self or being in agreement with such philosophies is probably kind of required.11th - obviously we know they give no fucks about kidou and don’t really want people using it, also you have to be strong.12th - SCIENCE! But also experiment fodder - sorry newbies.

Also what the shit was Aiolos thinking, giving a baby to a complete stranger he didn’t know from donkey shit in the street? For all he knew, old man Kido could have been a murderer or a pedophile. Anyway, sorry about that I have emotions. Caution for Saga’s suicide. Also contains my personal headcanon that Saga was being literally possessed.)

Aiolos was angry, not something that happened often. He was usually a pretty open, optimistic guy, if he did say so himself. Even the coma hadn’t taken that from him, which all his doctors had said was a miracle.

Now though, he was angry. Blood slipped through his fingers where he had deflected the Nike Staff away from Saga’s chest. His dearest childhood friend, his teenage boyfriend, looked up at him through shocked blue eyes, hands falling numbly away from their Lady’s Staff. It clattered to the ground, Saori having dropped in in shock and fear.

That was fair. Aiolos had concealed his survival up until now, abandoned in a Greek hospital and then traveling the world trying to find the stranger he had stupidly, in a haze of pain and blood loss, given his Cloth and his Goddess to. He’d arrived a touch too late to stop the plan the old fool had set into motion, and so adapted it to suit his needs.

He had taught kindness through example to the spoiled young Saori Kido, reminded her that pride without humility was just arrogance, and she had blossomed into the young girl she had always had the potential to be. A young woman he was proud to serve and call his Goddess. She would have gotten there on her own, once the old man had passed away, he had just hastened the process

Now it was his job to stop Saga - newly freed from a long and arduous possession at the hands of Athena’s nemesis, the God of bloodshed, conquest, and violence, Ares, God of War - from killing himself over things he had no control over. Saga had always been a gentle-hearted fool, how his heart must be bleeding now with the sins of Ares seemingly staining his hands.

“Do not try to end your life, old friend. That would be a waste of a good Saint of Athena,” he told Saga softly. Tears filled familiar blue eyes.

“I am not a good Saint. I’m not even a good man.” He choked, tears pouring down his face. Aiolos hauled him close into a hug, only slightly awkward with him crouched and Saga kneeling.

“You can lie to yourself, but don’t lie to me, Gemini Saga.” He said, soft and fierce. “You are a good man who tried to stave of the power of a God to preserve what you could.”
