I still can't process the fact that russians kidnapping Ukrainian children, adopting them in russia, changing their names and other personal information from Ukrainian to russian, "re-educating" them and raising them as russians is our reality.

Oh, and if any of y'all are wondering why you don't associate Russians with that look at all - Russia is an empire, and the conquerors are Slavs, and they pretty much get *the* say in media, cultural export etc. You know how Ukraine is under attack right now? Yeah we're only special in that we get to be on the border with Europe and thus actually visible to it in our existence :\ (and also Slavic)

This is a map of Asia. North Americans, you may notice this map is not solely comprised of Japan, Korea, China and Thailand. People in the UK, you may notice India is not  a continent. That is, if those of you who generalize entire continents can even pinpoint India on a map. Indians are Asian, gasp! And not all brown skinned people are Indian, also, gasp! There are an alarming amount of people, of all ages, from all backgrounds, who seem to be unable to process this.

I’m ethnically Asian. Since Asia is an extremely large continent, I could be from any number of countries. I am neither from India, China, Korea, Japan or Pakistan, yet not so surprisingly, I am still Asian. 

Yes, there are commonalities across regions, through the conflation of cultures, colonialism, globalization, transnationalism and movement of diasporas. Sometimes these are all the same thing. Rickshaws, rice and curry can be found across the continent. But let’s not overgeneralize. You can also find Buddhists, Catholics, Muslims and Hindus across Asia. Cantonese Speaking Chinese Muslims! English Speaking Indian Jews! 

No, we are not all the same. Orientalism? (Please look up Edward Said for basic concepts) No thank you. 

Geography, people. It’s important.

😡 They captured a civilian to steal his car Andrei Varvarov, who worked as a DJ before the war, was kidnapped in the spring of 2022. Russian military stopped a Ukrainian at a checkpoint in Tokmak, Zaporozhye region, probably to steal a car. Since then, the man has been in captivity for more than two years and has been beaten. During this time, his family was able to receive only one message from him - a letter without a return address on the envelope. In one of the replies from the Russian Ministry of Defense, the family also learned that Varvarov was detained allegedly for “opposing the SVO.” At the same time, the man never had anything to do with the Ukrainian army.

On August 3, at the residence of the British ambassador in Kyiv, the ZMINA Human Rights Center and the Media Initiative for Human Rights held an advocacy meeting "Witness Testimony event" with representatives of the embassies of various countries to promote the release of Ukrainian civilians who were abducted by Russia during the occupation.

Mass kidnappings of kids are not unique to the Middle East. Putin's Russia has been doing it since its illegal annexation of Crimea and its de facto occupation of Donetsk and Luhansk in 2014. And it's grown greatly since Russia's invasion of Ukraine started in February of 2022.

This is a form of genocide as defined by international law. Putin and his cronies are war criminals and there is indeed a warrant for his arrest on the basis of his abduction of Ukrainian children from occupied parts of Ukraine.

This invasion has been going on for nearly two years – not just two months. There are thousands of Ukrainian child hostages held by Putin's kleptocratic mafia-terrorist state.

Orphans and children who are waiting for their parents from war or russian captivity. About first responders. Parents who had to bury their children. People who are dealing with the aftermath of russian shellings. Women who have to give birth in the bomb shelters. People who are being constantly shelled. Someone who is waiting for their loved ones from the war. Someone whose loved ones came back from the war in a casket. Teachers who are having lessons underground. Someone whose hometown doesn't exist anymore. Volunteers. People who visit their friends at the cemetery. Kidnapped Ukrainian children. Farmers. People who got disabled from the war. Refugees. Railway workers. People who went through russian torture chambers and didn't survive. Critical infrastructure workers. People who died and people who grieve. Please, don't let our stories be forgotten.
