Buying a good quality Kalimba is out of my budget so I settled for an app instead. Just found keylimba today, and I already learnt how to play a short version of can't help falling in love by Elvis Presley! It was fun playing around with it so i'll probably learn more songs

New slimy, predatory classical song came to me out of nowhere. I recorded the melody with Keylimba in B flat so I won’t forget it. Not gonna do anything more with it until much, much later because my body most certainly is NOT ready for it…

And I’ve got other more important irl things to work on, so…

Shan I need help, I'm in this vicious cycle of dash lurking. I just stare at my screen, scroll down my dash, and then refresh and repeat. I can't tear myself from it. I want to draw but I'm just stuck. Do you have any advice? I thought I'd ask someone who gives advice and stuff. This cycle suuuucks. ;n;

Well, I do have advice!

When I find myself I'm stuck in some social media, that it doesn't tend to happen, I have the advantage of having a bunch of apps to create stuff, but you can also do them in real life or in apps we all have.

For example, you can make a playlists just with music you have never heard. Normally by doing that, one of the songs sparks creativity.

You can also research about other fandoms in YouTube. Watching new stories can also give you new ideas to work with.

I do like to edit photos, create pinterest boards for certain characters, learn how to edit videos and practice a lot. Learn new skills too!

There's an app called Keylimba. It's a tiny instrument and you can find how to play it only, and it is pretty easy. The music is beautiful and it will distract you too.

You can write down ideas too. Or go to an online generator. Or for example, create drawings for other mutuals, replicate what you can see, try new colors in an old drawing...

Try to an describe what you see in details. The sky is blue? Yes, but is it glowing? Does the sky look fake? Is it golden around the sun? Darker around the corners? Are there many buildings or trees? How do they look?

salieri listens. he doesn’t play along, though he wants to. (there is another melody that could go here. a tune behind, to emphasize the first, but salieri has no desire to remove arsene as the sole sound.) perhaps sometime, since he has a keylimba of his own thanks to a certain gift. he wants to play a duet.

that sort of thing is an easier communication. for now, salieri pays mind to what is currently being communicated. he closes his eyes and listens. the notes are slow, a hesitant learner. but the notes aren’t wrong, per se. a little bit too much of a sage-and-basil taste to the sound, which contrasts strangely with the sweetish taste that every note the keylimba issues has.

well, it’s changed from a funeral requiem into something else. simply through the key shift, and the instrument shift on top of that. salieri would say it’s sentimental, but what else should he expect? the original was simply a song for mourning, then become a threat or a note of death’s advance, then become a sign of protection and safety by means of that same reaper. or, as arsene calls it, romantic. perspective shifts. the soul of the player shows through what is played, always. a reinterpretation is not imitation.

(the song has not become romantic, the intent has. the song becomes an overture in the non-musical sense.

sentimental! dangerous, probably, but on the other hand, lupin hasn’t been proven wrong (yet?). “i understand.” he would say something else but, really, it’s embarrassing. it’s... arsene, please, even so... “since you can play it, we should play a duet.” that will work, instead.

I downloaded a kalimba app on my phone because I was bored. So I looked up some kalimba tabs to see what I could try, and this was a quick and easy song!
