Personally I think it’s less of him seeing gojo like a god and more like wanting to be a god with him. we see suguru wanting a world where gojo doesn’t need to be the strongest, and to do that he can’t worship gojo.

He sees gojo as a man, but a man with the responsibilities of god. He doesn’t want gojo to be atlas.
