COWBOY LIKE ME - reimagined as a vintage book ↴ part one (inspired by this)

I'm so happy that I was able to make this special edit, cause - even if one month late - I wanted to celebrate the one year of life of this enormous project with all my readers and followers who supported me and my story for all this time. I love you guys. Plus yesterday was my 21th Birthday so I wanted to make something new, differente from the usual gif-edit. Maybe, when I will end the second act of CLM I will do a part two.

The Root of Things: Detecting if an android device is rooted

For frequent readers of this blog theres no doubt you have seen some of my previous posts on detecting jailbroken phones on iOS I’m also working on developing an android version of PassVult my privacy focused password manager so now I’m looking at how to stop rooted or compromised phones getting access to a users app data. Without further ado here are some of the best methods I have found.

"Are you serious?" he asked incredulously: he had always wanted that hat.

"Of course! So, are you in?", he said seriously, holding out his hand in defiance.

"I'm in!", he replied just as seriously, shaking the tips of his long fingers.

"Good, Benny, then pack your bags: our first step to victory is Copenhagen. "

You say that is absurd, but is quite logical if you think about it: imagine if something like that would have happened to us. Yes, we are convinced that our Country is the pillar of freedom and democracy, but sometimes it is not so different from a comunist regime. 

If by chance -  for pure misfortune - from nowhere you will learn that one of your parents or relative were a comunist simpatizan or that was reported for being  a soviet spy in the past, you know what would happen to you? Especially if this information would go in the wrong hands? Like the hands of some journalists? Maybe it’s true that nobody follows chess, but imagine the scandal: the parents of a  representative of the United States of America were a comunist spy and worked for the enemy. Thirty years ago for something like this people could have risked their career and their freedom, and you still think that is absurd? 

Maybe it’s unfair but that's one of the many risks that we have to deal with  if we  want to succeed: you can't escape it.

Kevin Kowalewski was what most people would have called an irreducible bachelor. Not because he wasn't desirable. On the contrary; he was objectively a good catch: young,

good looking, from a good family and also quite well off. As proof of this, it was enough to look at where his apartment was located: which - even if it consisted of a miserable two-room apartment with a terrace - faced Central Park, in the middle of the Upper East Side: an area of the city where the price of the real estate was very high.

But after all, Kevin Kowalewski was not an ordinary coach; because despite his young age - twenty-eight - he had a short but intense chess career. Grandmaster at only eighteen, at twenty he became the youngest National Champion of the United States: a goal that no one - not even James Griffin, his greatest rival - had been able to achieve. He could have been one of the greatest chess champions that the States would have ever known if , at the age of twenty-two - after returning from a trip from southern Europe - he hadn’t fallen ill with a terrible case of tuberculosis, which almost brought him to death.

That misfortune forced him to retire from the world of competitions and to say goodbye to his dreams of glory, but saved him from a much worse evil: the Second World War.In fact, during a fortuitous visit to the Greenpoint neighbourhood - where he and his parents had moved to in the early 1930s - the young Kevin, depressed and demoralized after being considered not suitable for wearing the uniform, made an unexpected encounter that would change his life forever. He was looking through the wide window of his parent’s house, doing his own business, when he noticed a familiar face cross the street in front of him: years had passed since the last time that Kevin had seen her, but he recognized her immediately. That was how his mother Agnieszka had been able to meet her old childhood friend again and the rest was history; Mr Kowalewski was their lifeline, the only reason why they had

managed to survive all the misfortunes that fate had inflicted on them: they owed everything

to that man.
