The sun was warm and golden, casting a gentle glow over the lush countryside. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers and the sound of birds chirping merrily. It was the perfect day for a picnic, and Benedict Bridgerton couldn't have been happier to spend it with his wife and children.
Benedict and Y/N had always shared a mutual disdain for the relentless scrutiny of society. From the moment they met, they found solace in each other's company, both preferring the quiet beauty of nature and the simplicity of family life over the pomp and circumstance of high society. Benedict was hopelessly devoted to Y/N, captivated by her spirit and the way she saw the world. She had a way of grounding him, reminding him of what truly mattered.
Today, they had chosen a secluded spot in the picturesque countryside of Kent, a place far enough from their estate to ensure complete privacy. Nestled under the shade of an ancient oak tree, the spot offered a breathtaking view of rolling hills and a gently flowing brook nearby. The grassy field stretched out before them, a sea of wildflowers swaying in the breeze. Their children, a boisterous five-year-old boy named Thomas and a giggling two-year-old girl named Violet, were already darting about, chasing butterflies and exploring the wonders of nature.
"Thomas, be careful!" Y/N called out, laughing as their son sprinted after a particularly fast butterfly, his little legs pumping furiously. He stumbled over a small mound of earth but quickly picked himself up, his laughter ringing out across the field. He waved back at his parents with a wide grin, dirt smudging his cheeks.
She turned to Benedict, her eyes sparkling with joy and a hint of motherly concern. "He's going to wear himself out before we've even unpacked the basket."
Benedict smiled, his heart swelling with love as he watched his family. "Let him. It's good for him to have space to run and play." He set down the picnic basket and spread out the blanket, patting the spot next to him. "Come, love. Sit with me."
Y/N joined him, resting her head on his shoulder as they unpacked the basket together. They had prepared all of their favorite foods: fresh sandwiches with a variety of fillings, ripe strawberries, an assortment of cheeses and crackers, a freshly baked loaf of bread, and, of course, a bottle of fine wine. Benedict carefully laid out each item, ensuring everything was in easy reach for their little picnic.
"I can't believe you managed to pack all of our favorites," Y/N said, smiling as she unwrapped a loaf of bread still warm from the oven. "It's like you read my mind."
Benedict chuckled, leaning in to kiss her temple. "I had a little help from our cook, but I wanted today to be perfect for you and the children."
Violet toddled over, her tiny hands reaching for a strawberry, and Benedict handed one to her, laughing as she eagerly bit into it, the juice dribbling down her chin. "Delicious, isn't it, my sweet?" he asked, wiping her chin with a napkin.
Violet nodded, her eyes wide with delight. "More, Papa!" she demanded, holding out her hand for another strawberry.
Benedict obliged, giving her another juicy berry. "Here you go, darling. Enjoy."
Thomas ran back to the blanket, breathless from his adventures. "Mama, Papa, look!" He opened his little fist to reveal a handful of wildflowers. "I picked these for you, Mama."
Y/N's eyes softened as she took the flowers from Thomas. "They're beautiful, Thomas. Thank you." She arranged them into a small bouquet and placed them in a little jar they had brought along. "They add the perfect touch to our picnic."
Thomas grinned, proud of his contribution. "Can we eat now, Papa? I'm starving!"
Benedict laughed, ruffling Thomas's hair. "Of course, my boy. Let's see what we have here." He handed Thomas a sandwich, watching as his son eagerly took a bite.
Y/N began to serve the cheese and crackers, arranging them on a plate. "This cheese is from that little shop in town, isn't it?" she asked, recognizing the distinct aroma.
"Indeed it is," Benedict replied. "I know how much you like it."
She smiled warmly at him. "You always remember the little things."
As they ate, they talked and laughed, sharing stories and memories. Y/N recounted a humorous incident from their last family outing, making Benedict chuckle. "I still can't believe you managed to get us lost in our own backyard," she teased.
Benedict shook his head, a mock expression of horror on his face. "I maintain that it was all part of the adventure."
Thomas piped up, his mouth full of sandwich. "Papa, are we going to play tag later? I want to show you how fast I can run!"
Benedict nodded, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Absolutely. But be warned, Thomas, I’ve been practicing my tag skills. You might not be able to catch me."
Thomas giggled, clearly relishing the challenge. "We'll see about that!"
Violet, not wanting to be left out, clapped her hands and babbled excitedly. "Tag! Tag!"
Y/N laughed, her heart full. "Looks like you have two little competitors, Benedict."
After they finished eating, they played a spirited game of tag. Benedict and Y/N took turns chasing the children, their laughter echoing across the field. Thomas was a blur of motion, his little legs pumping as he dodged and weaved, while Violet toddled around, giggling whenever someone pretended to catch her.
As the sun began to set, casting a warm, golden hue over the landscape, they gathered up their things and made their way back home. After a quick supper and baths for the children, they all headed outside again, this time with a blanket and pillows to lie on as they stargazed.
Benedict carried a sleepy Violet in one arm and a basket with their essentials in the other. "Do you think the stars are brighter tonight, or is it just me?" he mused aloud, looking up at the clear night sky.
Y/N smiled, holding Thomas's hand as he skipped alongside her. "Maybe they're shining just for us," she replied, her voice filled with contentment.
The night sky was clear, a tapestry of stars twinkling above them. They spread out the blanket on the grassy hill behind their home, arranging the pillows for comfort. Thomas immediately lay down, pointing up at the sky with excitement.
"Look, Papa! I see the Big Dipper!" he exclaimed, his small finger tracing the constellation.
Benedict chuckled, lying down next to him. "That's right, Thomas. And do you see that bright star over there? That's the North Star. Sailors used to navigate by it."
Thomas's eyes widened with fascination. "Did they use wishing stones too, Papa?"
Y/N laughed, settling Violet in her lap. "I think they relied more on maps and compasses, love. But a wishing stone could come in handy in a pinch."
Violet, still clutching her pebble, looked up at the sky with wide eyes. "Stars! Pretty!"
Benedict pointed out another constellation, his voice a soothing rumble in the stillness of the night. "There's Orion," he said, tracing the shape with his finger. "And over there is the Great Bear."
Thomas stared up in wonder, his small hand clutching the wishing stone. "Can I make my wish now, Papa?"
Benedict nodded, his eyes meeting Y/N's. "Go ahead, son."
Thomas closed his eyes, whispering his wish softly. When he finished, he placed the stone on his chest and sighed contentedly. "Your turn, Mama."
Y/N closed her eyes, holding Benedict's hand as she made her wish. She opened her eyes and smiled at him, her heart full. "Your turn, my love."
Benedict took the stone, closing his eyes. He didn't need to wish for anything; everything he had ever wanted was right here with him. But for the sake of tradition, he made a wish anyway: for endless days like this, filled with love and laughter.
Thomas squirmed, curious. "What did you wish for, Papa?"
Benedict grinned, ruffling his son's hair. "If I told you, it wouldn't come true, would it?"
Thomas pouted playfully. "That's not fair! I bet you wished for more wishing stones."
Y/N laughed, shaking her head. "Knowing your father, he probably wished for more of your mama's cooking."
Violet clapped her hands, clearly enjoying the banter. "Wish! Wish!"
Benedict leaned over to Y/N, his voice low and filled with warmth. "I actually wished for moments like this to last forever."
She rested her head on his shoulder, her voice soft. "I love you, Benedict Bridgerton."
He kissed her forehead, his heart overflowing with happiness. "And I love you, Y/N Bridgerton. Always."
Thomas, ever the inquisitive one, looked between his parents. "Does that mean you wished for more picnics and stargazing, Papa?"
Benedict chuckled. "Something like that, Thomas. I wished for more time with my favorite people."
Thomas grinned, satisfied with that answer. "I like that wish."
Under the vast, starlit sky, surrounded by the warmth of their family, they knew they had everything they could ever need. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day, and as they drifted off to sleep, they dreamed of many more days just like this. The gentle sounds of the night filled the air, and the stars above seemed to shine a little brighter, as if in agreement with Benedict's silent wish.

Imogen slipped out of the barn, largely unnoticed amid the hustle and bustle of pressing and fermenting the wine. She made her way up the steep trail that led directly to the kitchen. Wonderful aromas greeted her as she entered, and she found her mother already there, clearly in the midst of another of her unsolicited advice sessions.
"Good afternoon, Ms. Kent, Mother," Imogen said, stepping between the two women to ease the tension. "Ms. Kent, I’d like to discuss this evening’s meal with you. Mr. Stacey wishes to make an announcement at dinner, so we might need to make a few alterations to the menu."
"Well, good afternoon, ma'am. Your mother was just tellin' me that your stomach's been a bit sensitive and I should ease up on the seasoning. I told her straight out that I’m not changing anything unless you, as the lady of the house, give me direct orders," Ms. Kent replied, her tone brusque and unmistakably aimed at Rebecca. Imogen bit back a grin. Diandra Kent, while an excellent cook, had a no-nonsense attitude that often clashed with Rebecca’s more refined sensibilities. Her fiery red hair seemed to mirror her spirited demeanor. Rebecca huffed in response.
"I'm sure Mother meant well, but I see no reason to alter your menu or your seasoning practices," Imogen said, her smile intended to smooth over the situation. Diandra's expression softened at Imogen's reassurance. "I should mention, however, that due to my condition, I may be sensitive to overly floral scents. It’s still early, but it might be wise to keep that in mind."
"Oh, that's splendid news, Missus! I’m real pleased for you and Mr. Stacey. I’ll whip up a special dessert to celebrate tonight. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got work to finish."
"Certainly, Ms. Kent. Mother, would you care to join me in the parlor?"

“ Good day, Farina! I've been looking for you, ” Kent greets her, jogging up to her before giving her a prim little bow. “ Happy birthday. It's not much, as I can't say I knew what to give you on short notice, but... If it's not against your tastes, here you are then. ”
He hands her a good bottle of spirits wrapped up in a basket. Alongside it are a few treats for Murphy.
“ Same for your pegasus... I figured based on my previous experiences with him, he might feel left out. Regardless, I won't be on your case today. Do enjoy yourself. And if you're amenable to it... ” This next part comes out a bit more awkwardly. “ I should like to better learn what your preferences are some day. If for nothing else but to be better at giving you a gift like this... ”
He clears his throat.
“ That is all! ”
♠ - Birthdays for Farina did tend to be a bit of a lonesome affair. Relatively speaking, anyway. Which, in fairness, was partly her fault. She was the one who had a temper tantrum and made herself address-unknown, after all. Not that she'd ever admit to that, though. Which why her birthdays tended to be spent undeclared, in crowded pubs and with a lot of booze. It certainly beat sad, lonely and hugging her pegasus.
Either way, that side of her life was never really the sort of thing that it had felt right sharing with her co-workers. Much less for a certain red-head to catch wind of it. So imagine her surprise when Kent comes up to her with a birthday wish and a bottle of spirits. "I, uh, I don't know what to say.", Farina muttered, awkwardly scratching her cheek. "But thanks?" It was less a question of tastes but trying to figure out what his ulterior motives for the gift might have been...and honestly, she couldn't really find one. Well, none that made any sense, anyway.
... Maybe she really is just too guarded from those nobles. It's not like he really needed to buy her loyalty or anything. Even less with him being less on her case 'today'. Was she going to need to expect some extra hen-pecking tomorrow? Nah, that's too cynical, even for her. She waved her hands in receipt of the gift. Well, as much as she could while holding a bottle of wine, anyway. "Nah. This will do. I, uh, wasn't really expecting a gift." Not even on her birthday. Which was pretty pitifully lonesome, even for her. Well, he did ask for her preferences so...starting herself on fixing that would be a start? "Well, if you're asking...", she grinned teasingly. "You can come with me down to the stables and help me feed Murph. Oh, and I can help you feed your Helena too." Were the stables for the regular horses fairly close by? They must be, right? It's not like the dietary or stabling needs between horses and pegasi were that much different, right? Well, aside from pegasi being that much more 'nobler' and needing to account for the wings, anyway.
#liegebound#birthday asks#{yep. another late one. pretend this got answered near her birthday last year?}

Mutucule Farm #17
2023-05-15, session #17 of Mutucule Farm! Year 2, Summer 11 through Summer 22!
Cast:
me (@mothmute)
Belle (@snacco)
Cam (@amanitaspore), sadly absent
Erin (@salamand3rin)
Highlights include but are not limited to:
Summer 11:
I’m still in the pocket of Big Hog
Sturggling with the Sturgeons
Luau!
you weren’t just gonna eat a raw football, were you?
The governor seems a little hungry...
You ever eat soup so good you start vibrating?
we made so many friends! achievement soup!
Night farming! Didn’t have time to water everything in the morning!
Pompkin is your orange bastard? he’s our orange bastard
Summer 12:
Married life treating us well, Belle and I get stardrops! Erin is excluded.
so much friendship, we all get mailboxes full of recipes. spaghetti, salmon dinner, etc.
I go to continue funding the Hogs instead of housing upgrades ...
walk in on Shane drinking himself to death— I watered him, so he’s gonna grow up big and strong
... but I can’t get more Hogs until the barn upgrade finishes, whoops!
Hey, beach box! ... full of bombs!
(Erin has been visited by the yardwork fairy IRL, her audio is spotty for a while)
A train?? Erin lets me borrow Fella to go check it out. nothing.
Constable was stuck in a tree, but then he did a little shimmy and he got free
Evelyn is purchasing an octopus! no fucking way, those things suck!
Summer 13:
Spirits have been displeased every day this session, must be ‘cause Cam isn’t here
Belle’s at level 9 farming, so she should harvest the crops (and choose correctly)
New pigs! Sheriff, Deputy, S.Trooper (”StateTrooper” wouldn’t fit), and Special Agent
set hogs to maximum!!
Cutscene with Kickflip— I go ahead and suggest experimental noise rock again, is there any point to suggesting anything else?
immediately get a second cutscene, wherein he gets an egg as a “snack” and drops it. Jody hears it from across the house and rushes to the scene of the crime, and gasped in horror; “This is absolutely terrible!”
I took the fall for him anyway— “no, the egg did.”
ANYWAY I was just here to give you some dumb soda
Belle finally got her axe together
“hey, what should I do today?” “it’s 8PM”
Erin considers making her house bigger to make room for Krobus, so he can come curl up in the corner and eat void mayonnaise straight out of the jar
Summer 14:
BELLE CHOOSES INCORRECTLY (nah that’s fine)
Pompkin is positioned for maximum obstruction; ConcernedApe clearly knows how cats work.
y’know, when the kegs were in the way, they were in constant use; now that they’re tucked neatly in the corner, nothing.
Erinbucks, making coffee
Belle loves Joja so much, she has her own Joja sign over her bed and everything
Summer 15:
Jodi wants a fish, the slimier the better
Kent wants a starfruit; “yeah, well, we all want things”
Pierre wants one (1) grape, so he can microdose on wine
Quest for the prismatic jelly!
Sebastian is fine with getting hammered, actually
Erin didn’t get the fish Jodi wanted, and now she’s anxious about holding up dinner and Vincent going hungry (see gallery)
Belle goes on a motorcyle ride with Sebastian (her husband), who says he “[doesn’t] normally bring girls here”
We conclude that Leah has both an ex-boyfriend and an ex-girlfriend, both named Kel.
Summer 16:
Accidentally gave Penny a cactus; she’s fine with this.
look, you don’t KNOW that my shirt was made with green little guy blood! it could be a vegan substitute!
bird wanders into the fire, emerges unscathed.
hey, know what fishers call the sewers? the carpal tunnel! 😎
Erin gets a soggy newspaper, but doesn’t tell us the soggy news
I spend all day in the mines hunting prismatic slime
Erin sacrifices herself for her coffee, but she didn’t even get the last one in, so it was all for naught.
Summer 17:
Pompkin clipping in the blueberries
Unethically sourced coffee; unfair trade; Erins were harmed in the making of this coffee.
I barely escape the mines with my life, after taunting the floating skulls one too many times
(and I almost go to Belle’s house instead of my own)
Summer 18:
back in the mines, I find a box of frozen tears. what’s the deal with those, anyway? whose tears are they?
Belle eats her pocket calamari
“where did that come from?” “I don’t understand the question”
no balrogs were harmed in the making of this film. they’re an endangered species, you know
Summer 19:
“just take the eggs and speak no more of this.”
Belle waters the goats; you don’t want your goat to dry out, do you?
Belle has collected 50 milk for my Purposes!
“don’t drink it all at once!” “but my bones would get SO STRONG!”
Camo pigs, hiding in the melons
(there’s a note in here about Jodi getting hammered, but I don’t remember the context. I feel like it might’ve been pam, actually?)
Can you imagine being a prismatic slime?
Summer 20:
oh right, my axe is ready, and probably has been for a few days
right, the milk! thank you!
Jas and Vincent meeting up without Penny, now that she’s a housewife
Penny probably left Jas in charge, Vincent is just like “I’m gonna eat dirt”
Erin is gonna get serial murdered!! (I jumped out wearing a mask)
I found the prismatic slime!
it’s late, so Erin just gets into bed with my wife.
Black? Phillip gave birth to a baby goat!!
named “lil phil”, got it in one!
default name was apparently “zenoze”, which kept sounding like “the nose” to me
Summer 21:
Penny watered some crops :)
Lewis wants truffle oil and says not to ask why, which IMMEDIATELY makes it so much more suspicious
I got two prismatic slime so I’m trying to figure out a way to preserve one of them for posterity
“maybe what’s his named, in the place" will buy it? (no, Marlon doesn’t buy it)
I try putting it on a table, which doesn’t work; and leaving its image on a sign, which does work (for now)
I go to make the delivery and try not to get eaten by the wizard
(“he doesn’t make it quick” “well, you wouldn’t want him to”)
Axe swap!
—“and my axe!” gets me a good grade in references, something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve
Penny wants to redecorate and gives me a choice of some themes...
I mean it’s gotta be pirates, right?
(she does want me to move my stuff though so this is a note to remind myself to do that)
after not being sure what to do, it’s suggested that I go pick up after all my pigs, leaving truffles all over the place
Belle telepathically (bellepathically) offers me trash bread from a dozen paces away
Summer 22?:
we have monster musk now, we can make ourselves stinky! (see gallery)
also bombing everything, of course
TO-DO:
Upgrade coop?
Upgrade tools??
Upgrade houses???
Other construction? (slutch? fish ponds?)
at this point, I think any redesigns will be waiting ‘til winter
Bundles! ugh, we need a duck feather
Cam still needs to propose!
Stardrops!
I need to clean house a little for Penny’s benefit (Pennefit)
Gallery: (courtesy of Erin)
Abigail hanging out with Fella, while Erin fishes
Portrait, holding our new monster musk axe body spray

Though Kent's spent time with Randal since they've met, he's since not brought up the topic that had drawn Kent's sympathy to the man in the first place. He still doesn't want to, for fear of touching a wound he shouldn't.
He knows the same topic being brought up to him would wound him dearly.
But Kent has an idea himself of the state of Randal's lost friendships, and so Kent prepares a gift for the man. He couldn't fill in that void, could never be a replacement for Randal's strongest bonds the exact same way Randal could never be that for Kent's own lost friendships either…
… but sometimes, all one needed was something to help take one's mind off of that.
“ Happy Winter Festival, Lord Randal, ” Kent greets the man before handing him a bottle wrapped in a red bow as fitting to the holiday. “ Here, I have procured a gift for you to mark the occasion. It appears to be a spirit made especially for the holiday, flavored after its trademark flavors. I sampled a bit at the vendor, and it was a novel taste, for certain.
“ I figured a man like you could enjoy it, seeing how much you enjoyed the tavern outing we went on. Of course, please do drink responsibly. It would not do to wake up ill tomorrow. ”
-- RANDAL HAS NOT disenjoyed his holiday season. He has grown comfortable with the role he has played, both in this world and in others; a friendly, familiar face, not far off enough to be a stranger but far from it to be called 'family'. This being said, he does not expect gifts from those he holds in friendly acquaintance, if only because he does not plan on giving them, either.
Sure, a knick-knack from those particularly kind-hearted enough to give everyone they know a present is expected. A flourish of his hand and an over-exaggerated bow as thanks is typically payment enough, but this...
He does not know what to say back to Kent, because he did not expect anything from Kent.
" Oho! " He holds the bottle up, letting the bow catch the candlelight. " My good ser Kent! You'd take th' time to do somethin' of this sort for me? I must thank ye kindly. "
He puts in a hand wave, an over-exaggerated bow here, too, because he does not know how else to respond to such a brazen show of good will from someone who seemed to find him a welcome annoyance at best.
It's good wine, too. He can tell as much from the care in the label, the varnish on the cork. He lets it swing in his hands, the weight familiar. " Say, it's no use gettin' through such drink alone, is it? If you'd be so kind as ta appease me, ser, " he takes a step back, opens his hand out to the plain thing he calls his room, " Ah'd be much obliged! "
#♣ | ic.#♣ | kent.#♣ | ask meme.#// i genuinely teared up while reading this#// i will not lie#// it was so unexpected which i suppose is part of the sweetness of gifts but im#// emotion#// alcohol ment;#// also no need to continue this into a thread if u dont want to ! we can leave it as a lil snapshot rather than a full thing if ud prefer

“But peers were cut down all time,”
As thou sighing Nature’s wrong, the alleys shines shalbe proud queen- woman if he had careless tree: be the know, has tantalized me from cages pull us what he would your one birds of wine, begun to see, ride ten thou are not boast they heard

You know what? Here is what I hope for the future of Batfam relationships
For Bruce, he is both Forever Alone and in multiple relationships.
He and Selina don't get married because she's a free spirit but they act like they're married whenever she stops by and she is essentially the Robin/Batgirl stepmother. And then they have Helena! She is such a good mom and Bruce is utterly smitten. She will also kick his ass when he's being dumb or emotionally constipated. Bonus.
He and Talia are amicable exes; they will always love each other but their lives are incompatible. Talia is very protective of Bruce's kids and she and Selina get on surprisingly well. Do not threaten Jason, Tim, or Damian if you want to live. Bruce cannot stop her and Selina will not.
(Bruce may or may not also have a vacillating relationship with both Lois and Clark. Lois is fucking awesome and Clark is his best friend like beyond measure)
Dick is with Babs, Kory, and Wally. Linda is nervous at first but she also loves Dick and they are besties and Jai and Irey adore him. Babs and Kory are jealous of each other at first, but they become friends through mocking the everloving shit out of Dick's dumbassery. Wally does nothing more than pat Dick's shoulder in sympathy because he's not arguing with the girls when they're right and it's fucking funny.
Jason and Roy may as well be married. Lian loves Jason, especially since he helped her as an amnesiac teen (I just love the idea, the Strays are in Alleytown which is in/by Park Row it's in "his territory" and Jason gets the while street orphan thing so yes). Jason and Jade hate each other but are willing to tolerate each other for Lian because Lian is Lian and deserves anything she fucking wants and she wants to know her mom. Lian also loves having badass adoptive grandmas. Selina is her favorite because she took her in, but she adores Dinah and Talia is so cool. And she gets to see Uncle Dick all the time and Jason pretends he isn't happy to see him but he is (after he works past insecurity about Dick's collection of redheads because can I just keep this one Dick holy shit Roy's mine now fuck off). Bruce and Ollie fight over who is best grandpa. Lian's family is the best. Jason and Roy date nights consist of blowing shit up, makeouts, and then going home to snuggle with their daughter.
Tim and Kon are together FINALLY and lowkey co-parenting Bart. They made joke adoption papers and hang it up on the wall. Cassie claims the title of wine aunt. Everyone else thinks they're ridiculous but They Are Family. Everyone mocks them for not realizing they were in love sooner. Like, Kon's existence pre-New 52 screamed "gay crisis shouting "no homo"" and Tim's sanity is directly tied to his relationship with Conner, like??? Tim how did you just realize you were bi you absolute dorkweed. They also both had bicon girlfriends, like??? Morons. Adorable.
Tim and Steph will always love each other, but they didn't really work as they were and are happier with other people. They have a sort of romantic friendship. Steph actually conspired with Cass to get Tim to confess to Kon because boi both of you are idiots.
Stephanie and Cass (Cain) are happily dating and the most functional relationship in the Batfam. They don't need to talk to communicate. Cass has her abilities, but Steph can read Cass specifically almost as well. Not that they don't talk; Cass is comfy enough with Steph that sometimes she will just talk for hours. So in love and so comfy together.
Damian is either dating or in a queerplatonic relationship with Jon Kent. They are best friends and always have each other's backs and love each other so fucking much. They live together on the farm and Damian has a whole ass animal sanctuary and Jon helps him care for the animals and it's beautiful and nothing hurts.
