Grimm Ultimate Fighter Poll: Round 1 Results

Results are in! The final results of each poll are listed below.

Poll 1: Sean Renard won with 92.6% of 54 votes total. He blew the competition away!

Poll 2: Nick Burkhardt won with 44.3% of 61 votes total. Some of you questioned how likely he was to win in a fight with Kelly in the notes, rightfully so!

Poll 3: Diana Schade Renard won with 60% of 50 votes. And that's fair! I certainly wouldn't fight her.

Poll 4: Juliette Silverton a.k.a. Eve won with 71.2% of 52 votes. As she should!

Poll 5: Monroe won with 43.1% of 58 votes. But a lot of you were betting he would lose a fight to his wife (and I kinda agree tbh).

Poll 6: Martin Miesner won with 46.2% of 52 votes. We miss you king!

Remember Khloe, the Musae in like S2?  What if Nick DID sleep with her?  And what if she was pregnant when Renard ran her out of town?

I can just imagine her having a girl.  Fast-forward 12 years, and that girl turns out to a Grimm--she’s an early bloomer like her grandma Kelly Burkhardt.  Khloe wouldn’t actually care that her daughter’s a Grimm, except half her lovers are wesen, and most of THEM certainly do care.  It takes all her enchantment to convince them not to behead her daughter, and detracts from the energy she can put into inspiring her would-be artists.  Clearly, this situation isn’t sustainable.  So she ships the girl off to live with her father.  

The girl herself had, up until this point, no idea who her father was, much less that he was a Grimm.  Khloe expected her to be a Musae--she expected to be a Musae--so the fact that she had a father was pretty insignificant, right up until her eyes began turning rim-to-rim black.  Her Mom ships her to Portland with a friend, since Renard still prohibits Musae from crossing into his Principality under pain of death, and she gets dropped unceremoniously on Nick and Juliette’s doorstep (bc Nick/Juliette, sue me).

Nothing too exciting happens after that.  

Juliette’s nonchalant about the new addition to their household, because by this point, she’s basically spent ten years cooperatively parenting Kelly Schade-Burkhardt with Adalind Schade.  The worst she does is jibe Nick as to when she can expect to learn about the rest of his love-children.  Also, if some of the local wesen were displeased to hear about Blutbud/Fuchsbau babies, they (and not a few Grimm), were even more alarmed at the prospect of Grimm/Hexenbiest children.  Since for safety reasons, neither Juliette nor Adalind could get a regular babysitter for their kids, the whole lot of them (and the Monroe/Calvert kids, because why not) grow up between their houses.  

Beyond all this, the rituals that changed Juliette into a Hexenbiest bind her close to Adalind as a sister.  She shares the Schade family magic, and she even shares some genetics with Adalind--enough to be flagged as a cousin.  Hexenbiest always raise their children with close female relatives.  As far as Diana is concerned, Juliette’s daughters are her sisters.

Sean Renard also ends up babysitting.  Partly, this is because he wants to be close to his daughter and heir, and Diana and her pseudo-siblings come as a package-deal.  But it’s also because he can see the benefits of cultivating familial loyalty to himself and his daughter among a pack of baby Grimm and Hexenbiest.  And, he supposes, the Monroe/Calvert children aren’t an unwise investment either.  Their parents certainly proved their worth many times over in a thousand small demonstrations of skill and good sense.

The only person who ends up slightly annoyed with the whole arrangement is Nick’s son Kelly.  He’s pissed because, like his father, he doesn’t Grimm up until well past the point anyone expected it to happen--long after his father and Juliette’s kids Grimm up or woge.  Poor dude.

A/N:  Adalind made a heartbreaking choice, and Nick is dealing with the consequences.

***Nick’s POV***

Nick clenched his jaw as he stared at the piece of paper in his hand. They had gotten to Adalind. Black Claw had gotten to Adalind. And Nick had been right, Adalind wouldn’t leave without Kelly. Now they were both gone. Adalind and his son.

“No!” Nick yelled fists clenched as he threw a chair to the side. He shoved his hand into his pocket, pulling his phone out. “No, this is not going to happen.”

It was bad enough Black Claw had his sister, niece, and his son’s sister. Now they had his son and his…Adalind.

***Adalind’s POV***

She was doing the right thing. That’s what Adalind kept telling herself during the cab ride. This was the only way to protect her children, herself, and Nick. Adalind just prayed that Nick didn’t hate her. That he would understand why she had made this choice. As the cab pulled up, two men approached it, one opening the door for her. “I’m here to see —.”

One of the men cut her off. “We know who you are.” He told her before speaking into some kind of headpiece. “Ms Schade has arrived.” Adalind reached back into the cab to pull Kelly out. “We’ll get your bags.”

As Adalind opened the front door, it opened to reveal Sean. “I’m glad you’re here. I would have sent a car.” He told her. Adalind didn’t answer as she walked past him. “You brought Kelly. I wasn’t sure what you would do.”

As Sean closed the door behind her, Adalind entered what appeared to be the sitting room. “Where’s Diana?”

“Now that you’re here, they’ll bring her.” Sean said approaching her.

Adalind looked at him angrily. “Why isn’t she here now?”

“Because they wanted to make sure you came alone.” Sean answered. Adalind rolled her eyes before setting Kelly and his car seat on the coffee table. “Let me make one thing perfectly clear. You and I do not have complete control here.” He paused. “Welcome home.”

Adalind glared at him. “Where are Lorelei and Olivia?” She demanded. Adalind hadn’t heard from Lorelei in over 24 hours, and she had been starting to get concerned. As much as she wanted to believe that Sean wouldn’t do anything to his soulmate, there was no telling what he was capable of now.

“They’re upstairs, sleeping.”

Adalind sighed, feeling a tiny amount of relief. She looked up at Sean. “What are you gonna tell Nick?” Adalind asked him, referring to her and Kelly. “He’s gonna figure out we’re with you, and he’s not gonna be happy about it.”

Sean nodded, a hard expression on his face. “I’ll deal with Burkhardt.”

Adalind was surprised by his response and tone. Sure, Nick and Sean weren’t exactly buddies, but they had an amicable relationship. Or rather, they did. Between Sean taking his sister and niece away, being involved in Black Claw and now taking away Adalind and Kelly. Their amicable relationship was over, she just didn’t realise that applied to both sides.  “He may just deal with you too.”

“I’m sure he’d love to, but now that Kelly’s here, his options are limited.”

“What if you lose the election tomorrow?” Adalind asked him. She glanced at Kelly. “Would we still be here?”

Sean stepped closer to her. “You do realise that Kelly’s one of us? His mother’s a hexenbiest, father’s a Grimm.”

Adalind glared at him. “Nothing happens to my son.”

“He’s my wife’s nephew. I’ll treat him as if he were my own.” Sean assured her.

“That’s reassuring, you gave our daughter away.”

Sean sighed. “I know what that did to you, and what it did to me. But now, I have my wife and younger daughters, you have Kelly who is my younger daughter’s cousin and our daughters’ brother. Like it or not, we’re family.” Adalind clenched her jaw. “You made the right decision.”

Sean walked to the front door and peered out. “They’re here.” He informed her.

Adalind stood up as he opened the front door. “Mommy!” Diana said happily, running into Adalind’s arms.

“Hi.” Adalind said breathlessly. She was happy to see her daughter. The smile on her face dropped off when she saw the man entering with Diana. Adalind pulled away. “You want to see your baby brother?” Diana nodded eagerly. Adalind led her over to where Kelly was sitting.

Diana gently grabbed Kelly’s chubby little hand. “Hi Kelly. I missed you. I’m so glad you’re here. Mama and Livy are gonna be happy to see you.”

“Adalind?”

Boneparte led Adalind away from the children. “I know this was not an easy decision for you.” He told her.

Adalind stared at him. “You held my daughter hostage.”

“We want this to work.” Boneparte said. “This family is important to all of us, and having you all together ensures our place in history.”

Adalind turned around when she heard Diana giggling. Adalind’s eyes widened when she saw her infant son hovering in the air. She hurried forward and gently grabbed Kelly. “What has Mama told you about picking up the babies like that.” Adalind said to Diana.

“That I shouldn’t.” Diana said. “I’m sorry, I just got excited.”

Adalind offered her a warm smile to show she wasn’t in trouble. “I think it might be time for bed.” Adalind said glancing at Sean. “Assuming there are beds for Kelly and I.”

“Yeah. I’ll show you.” Sean said before looking at Diana. “Come on, honey.”

Sean led her upstairs. He pointed out which room was his and Lorelei’s, Diana’s, the nursery where Olivia was and if she wanted, Kelly. Adalind wasn’t keen on having her son away from her. Thankfully, someone had the foresight to set up a crib in Adalind’s room. After getting Kelly settled, Adalind joined Sean in Diana’s room to help tuck her in.

“We have a nanny on staff who has been taking care of Diana and Olivia.” Sean informed her once their daughter was in bed. “Her name is Ella. Her presence allows Lorelei to adhere to her doctor’s orders. Ella takes the girls in to have meals with Lorelei each day, so she can spend time with them.”

Adalind nodded. “How is Lorelei? She mentioned she’d been diagnosed with preeclampsia. Shouldn’t she be in the hospital?”

“It’s a mild case at this stage.” Sean informed her, although Adalind could see the concern he had for his wife. “Due to that her doctor allowed her to stay at home for the time being. We have another appointment this coming Wednesday. In the meantime, we know the signs to look out for.”

Adalind bit her lip. Wasn’t it mild last time? And then a few days later it got worse. Adalind decided to familiarise herself with the symptoms to look out for. She supposed a benefit of being here was that Lorelei would have someone to keep her company. Someone she could trust.

“Ok.” Adalind said quietly, glancing towards her own room. “I think I might head to bed. Big day tomorrow.”

Once she was alone in her room, after checking on Kelly and getting changed for bed, Adalind curled up under the covers. It was only in the privacy of the room, that Adalind allowed herself to cry, praying that the man she loved didn’t hate her.

***Nick’s POV***

Unable to reach Hank, Nick headed to Monroe and Rosalee’s. He didn’t know what else to do. No doubt, Adalind and Kelly were wherever Renard was hiding Lorelei and the girls. Tracking them down wouldn’t be easy. As if it wasn’t bad enough Renard had dragged his heavily pregnant sister into Black Claw, now he’d dragged his son and Adalind into it as well. To what end?

Monroe opened the door looking concerned. “What’s wrong?”

“Adalind’s gone.” Nick said letting himself into the house.

“What?” Monroe asked as Nick walked into the living room.

“What do you mean, she’s gone?” Rosalee asked as Monroe closed the front door.

“She left me, and she took Kelly.” Nick answered, pacing around their living room.

The wesen couple approached him, looking surprised. “She didn’t say anything?” Monroe asked.

Nick looked at him. “She left a note.  She said that…she didn’t have a choice, and she had to do this to protect her children.”

“Oh my god, Nick.” Rosalee said, sympathy on her face as she came closer to him.

“Renard was pressuring her. I mean, she told me she was afraid that he was gonna use Diana to get to her.” Nick told them.

“You think she’s with Renard?”

Nick shrugged. “Where else would she go?”

“Wait, when did she tell you about Renard? Rosalee slowly asked, a strange look on her face.

“Uh, a couple of nights ago.” Nick replied, wondering why that mattered.

Rosalee sighed. “That’s when she came and dropped off Kelly with me.” Nick stared at her. “She said it was about work but when she came back to pick him up, I could tell she was upset about something.”

Monroe looked at her. “You think it was about Diana?”

“Renard has Diana, and he’s with Black Claw.” Nick reminded him.

Monroe nodded. “Then that’s definitely how they got to Adalind.”

“That’s why she left.” Rosalee said.

Nick clenched his jaw. “It’s bad enough he has my sister and niece. I’m not gonna let him do this.” Nick said heading towards the door.

“No, no, no.” Monroe said, moving to stop him from leaving.

“I can’t let him take my son.” Nick said angrily.

“No, no.” Monroe said blocking his exit. “Nick, you gotta think about this. I mean, do we even know where they are right now?”

“Anything you do could jeopardise Kelly.” Rosalee told him. Nick stopped, looking at her. “We need to talk this out.”

Nick begrudgingly followed Monroe and Rosalee towards their dining room, allowing himself to be pushed into one of the chairs. “Nick, think about it.” Monroe said filling a glass with water. “We’re talking about a candidate in the middle of an election where the first candidate was assassinated.” Monroe placed the water in front of him. “So, he’s got, like, maximum protection.”

Rosalee looked at him. “You’re not going to get close to Renard.”

“Even if you do, if you kill him, you’re done.” Monroe said. “You’ll never get away with it.”

“And you’ll definitely never see Kelly again.”

Monroe nodded in agreement. “Which is definitely what Black Claw want. On top of which, Adalind is a lawyer at a wesen law firm, so your chances of getting Kelly back legally aren’t so hot either.”

“We need to think of another way around this.” Rosalee told him. “You need to tell Meisner what happened. Hadrian’s Wall probably knows a lot more about what’s going on than we do.”

“And, if you’re going to HW, we’re going with you.”

Nick sighed as he looked between his friends. It was better than sitting around here. “Black Claw still has people watching us, right now.” Nick said standing up. “After what happened with Wu, they’re getting more aggressive. We can’t risk them finding out about HW. Can you two get out of here without being seen?”

Monroe nodded. “Yeah, I think so, if we go out the back door and over the fence. It’s basically woods down to the street below, so meet us down there.”

“And I’ll deal with whoever follows me. Meet me in 15.” Nick told them as he headed to the door.

Fifteen minutes later, Nick was rendezvousing at the meeting spot with Monroe and Rosalee. The couple were dressed for the occasion, dressed in black. “You lose ‘em?” Monroe asked as they got in his car.

“Sort of.” Nick answered. By sort of, he meant he lured them into a trap and killed them.

As they arrived at HW, Trubel met up with them at the elevator. Apparently Black Claw seemed to be concentrating their forces to Portland. “We’re all being watched.” Rosalee told her.

“Yeah, we know. Black Claw’s all over you guys.”

“You got identities on any of ‘em?” Monroe asked.

“Most of ‘em.” Trubel said before stopping Nick. “I assume you lost the two following you?”

Nick nodded. “For good.”

“I’ll update the database.” She said, leading them into the command centre where Meisner and Eve were.

“Glad you’re all here.” Meisner greeted them before referring them to the giant screen on the wall. “Take a lot at this. Sort of a Black Claw corporate structure.”

“These are the top Black Claw operatives that we know of, alive or dead, listed based on their position in the organisation.” Eve explained. “The blank spots are positions we know exist, but we don’t yet know who’s filling them.

Nick could see his brother-in-law was pretty high up the chain of command. He turned his attention back to Meisner. “As you can see, Renard is near the top now.”

Trubel glanced back at them. “Red X’s are the ones who’ve been killed.”

Nick moved towards Eve. “You said you thought something was happening with Adalind.”

Eve looked at him. “Diana was mentally contacting Adalind, and I somehow intercepted it. Like a twin telepathy experience.”

“Sort of got her wires crossed.” Trubel added.

“Did you go home? Was Adalind there?” Eve asked him.

“No. Adalind left me. She took Kelly with her.”

“Oh crap.” Trubel said looking concerned.

“Do you have any idea where Adalind and Kelly are?” Meisner asked.

“My guess is wherever Renard took my sister.”

Eve stared at him. “Your being here means you haven’t killed him yet.”

“Not yet.”

Rosalee spoke up. “How do we get Kelly back?”

“Not by going after Renard.” Meisner answered.

“Black Claw has gone through a lot of trouble to put him in that position.” Trubel pointed out.

Nick approached Meisner. “I need to know where Renard is, and how well he’s protected.”

Meisner avoided his gaze. “We know where he is.” Trubel told him. Nick looked at her. “Black Claw has him at a heavily guarded house in the Northeast.”

Meisner sighed. “You go after Renard there; you will not survive.”

“Don’t forget they have Kelly.” Eve reminded him.

“I can’t stand by and do nothing.” Nick said angrily. “They have my son.”

“You have no choice.” Meisner told him.

“They will expect you to be emotional, and they will take advantage of that.” Eve said.

Nick turned to look at her. “Oh, that’s easy for you to say.” Nick said to her in a low voice as he approached her. “He’s not your kid.”

“No, he’s not.” She admitted.

With a sigh, Nick realised there was nothing they could do to help him get his son back. So, with nothing more to say, Nick headed off, Monroe and Rosalee in tow.

Not long after Nick arrived home so did Trubel. “Hey.” She greeted him.

“Meisner tell you to follow me?” Nick asked bitterly.

“He did, but I would have done it anyway.” Trubel answered. Nick didn’t reply. “Look, I want you to know that I’m with you on this. I’m gonna help you however I can.”

Nick sighed as he slowly turned to look at her. “Adalind left me a note.”

“What she say?”

“Well, she said she had to do what she did.”

“You believe her?”

Nick nodded. “Yeah. She said she loved me.”

Trubel rolled her eyes. “Yeah, well, I knew that. Wasn’t hard to tell.”

Nick stared at her for a moment before sighing. “I want my son back.”

Trubel approached him. “Nick, if you want to go after Renard right now, I’m with you. I got no problem taking him down. Let’s do it.” She said as Nick’s phone started ringing.

Nick shook his head as pulled his phone out. “No. As long as he has Kelly it’s too much of a risk.” Nick raised an eyebrow as he saw who was calling. He looked at Trubel. “It’s him.”

“This should be interesting.” Trubel commented as Nick answered the call.

“Yeah?”

“We need to talk.”

“Where’s my son?”

“He’s safe.”

“You’re not.” Nick told him.

“Neither are you, but we still need to talk. Face to face. I suggest we meet on neutral ground. My office in one hour.”

“I’ll be there.”

Ending the call, Nick turned to face Trubel. “He wants to meet in his office in one hour.”

Trubel’s eyes widened. “I could leave right now. Take him out in the parking lot. You wouldn’t be involved.”

Nick shook his head. “No. Thanks. I wanna hear what he has to say.” Nick said as he headed towards the door.

“So, what do you want me to do?”

“Stay here. And I meant it. Stay here.”

Grimm Finale

I know that the power and/or the ability to binge watch things has taken away the typical separation each episode has on each other. But despite all that, the impact of this entire tv show has not been diminished. It still felt like a magnitude 7.77 earth quake. I was very and still am shook by the entire experience. It wasn’t flawless but nonetheless it is definitely a must watch. I have no words to describe the roller coaster it put me through. Emotional or something else. I have no way of putting it.

Grimm will stay embedded in my mind for I don’t how long. It’s not showing signs of going away. Hyperfixation not so much.
