The Drowning Kind: Part III
Sean rarely sleeps. His secrets, his plans, always keep his mind in constant motion. Examining all sides of the task at hand, making uneasy alliances with untrustworthy people makes sleeping a luxury. Closing his eyes, being vulnerable, have given him multiple nights of insomnia.
But not with you.
The first time the two of you spent the night together, curled up together on the river bank, under a blanket he stashed in the kayak, he was shocked to discover that he had fallen asleep. The stars that he had been staring up at had mostly disappeared, fading away in the early morning light. You, however, were still curled against him, head on his chest, still sleeping soundly. Your ribcage moved under his hand with each breath you took and he realized immediately that he loved you. He would do anything to keep you safe, keep you near him, this little slice of peace and authenticity.
That was two weeks ago.
He’s only missed seeing you three nights during that time. He hates to admit this but he’s getting used to sleeping a few hours each night now and finding it harder and harder to do so when you’re not in his arms. Last night was no different, in fact, even more so now that you fixed up this fishing shack and dragged a futon in here. It’s the first time the two of you have slept in anything resembling a bed and even though he can still feel the steel bars digging into his back, he doesn’t want to move a muscle.
He feels you start to wake up, little shifting movements in an effort to squeeze yourself closer to him. He does move this time, turning slightly so he can run both his hands over your bare skin and bury his nose where your neck and shoulder meet. He can feel you smile, your cheek pressing against his ear as you run your fingers through his hair.
“Good morning.”
He hums in response, pressing kisses along the column of your neck. The scent of jasmine and eucalyptus, your scent, fills his nose and he wants nothing more than to carry it with him for the rest of the day. He’s used to keeping secrets but he’s growing tired of keeping this one. The world he sees is nothing but violence and bloodshed. This love has to be hidden and every day that passes, the more that secrecy feels like the real crime.
Your back arches when he draws one of your nipples into his mouth. Your blunt fingernails dig into his scalp when he drags his tongue over the hardening nub. A moan is ripped from your throat when his teeth graze over it.
“Fuck, Sean.”
He slips a hand between your legs and finds you already soaking wet, his fingers sliding easily inside of you. He wonders if he’ll ever get tired of this, of you. His track record has always been spotty at best. Relationships pursued to kill time, boredom, or to create alliances. But then you walked into his life and turned everything on its head. He’s felt a want, a need, that he’s never felt before. You can’t go a day without the water, and he can’t go a day without you. It should put the fear of God into him, having something with such power over him, but it doesn’t. There’s an odd comfort in it actually.
Your hand wraps around his already hard cock, a steady pressure and stroke. Now it’s his turn to moan.
“Please, Sean.”
As if he could deny you anything. He slides his fingers out of you, pulling your leg over his hip. He captures your mouth with his as he enters you, swallowing down your moan. The noises you make, the intensity of your hold on his shoulders, arms, and back lead him to believe that no one ever loved you like this. That this is just as new a sensation to you as it is to him. This is the moment that he realizes you love him. The realization is enough to halt his movements, to stop time long enough for you to release your grip on his shoulders. You end up holding his face gently in his hands, your pupils still wide and black.
“What’s wrong?” Your voice is breathy, desire drenched but there’s concern bleeding through. Color starts to seep back into your eyes and worry creases your forehead. “Sean?”
“I love you.” He chokes on the words, this barbed-wire secret that feels like it rips his throat when he speaks it outloud. It’s admitting his greatest weakness and he’s never been comfortable with that. But it’s out there now, handing in the air between you and it seems far more intimate than being buried inside you. He’s shown you his heart.
Your smile is relieved, beautiful. “I love you, too.”
And that is Sean Renard’s biggest, most damaging secret he has: he’s fallen in love.

The Drowning Kind : Part 1
Title: The Drowning Kind
Pairing: Captain Sean Renard x OFC (written as a reader)
Rating: Explicit
Summary: You heard of the Portland Grimm and leave your fundamentalist group of naiads in Vancouver. You just wanted a safe fresh start; you didn't expect to fall in love with a royal hybrid police captain.
“Lots of men want to stay in a boat because they're afraid of drowning. But a mermaid knows: life is just not worth living if you're not ready to drown a few times.”
― C. JoyBell C.
Captain Sean Reynard has many secrets. Some are larger than others. This one is fairly small, relatively speaking.
He owns a kayak.
It’s dusty, and hasn't been used in years. He had bought it on a whim, trying to impress a woman long forgotten now, and now he’s thankful for that impulsive purchase. It’s almost eleven at night when he unlatches it from the roof rack of his car and slips the front of it into the water. The moon is full tonight, turning the river silver and the trees on the river bank more gray than black. He’s grabbing the paddle when he hears your footsteps on the soft riverbank.
“I wasn’t sure if you were making it out tonight,” you say. “Heard it was a rough day in the office.”
“Rough day in the office means meeting up with you will be a certainty.”
Your eyes glint in the bright moonlight as you smile at his comment. He still is getting used to having someone genuinely pleased to have him in their presence, no expectations or favors. You’re already dressed in your swimsuit, bare feet, toes curling into the soft silt as the river laps around your ankles. He knows you’ve spent most of the hot summer day in the river, that you know the currents, branches, and estuaries as well as he knows all the roads and neighborhoods in Portland. The perks of being a naiad and a police captain.
He moves towards you, leaning down to kiss you but you retreat a couple steps further into the river with a coy smile. “You’re going to have to catch me first.”
“Well that hardly seems fair.”
“I’ll go easy on you,” you give him a wink before turning and disappearing under the silver water.
He watches the ripples of your movement as you do your laps under the surface and wait for him to launch the kayak. By the time he’s made it to the halfway point in the river, he can see the electric blue glow of your gills as you circle around the kayak. He pulls his paddle out of the water and rests it across his lap. He waits for a few moments, enjoying the silence, letting his eyes adjust to the night sky as more stars start to appear in his vision. He needs this after the frustrations today; he needs the quiet, the physical effort…you.
Your electric blue eyes are peering at him from the pointed bow of the kayak. You sink below the surface again but appear at the side of the kayak, effortlessly pulling yourself up and sitting, perfectly balanced, in front of him with minimal shifting of the boat. You stay in your naiad form to help with your balancing, air whistling and chirping quietly from the gills along your neck.
“Do you want to talk about your day?”
He shakes his head. “No. I’d rather hear about your day.”
“All my swimming and playing with my fishy friends?”
“Says the woman who got kicked out of the all you can eat sushi bar last week?”
“I almost got kicked out! Get your facts straight, Captain.”
“My apologies.” He lays a hand over yours and you instinctively pull it away but he catches it, slipping his fingers through yours like a hook and halting your retreat. He can feel the scars of the cutting, the lack of webbing between your fingers. He knows if he looks at your feet, he’ll find the same disfigurement there too. He changes into his hybrid form and waits for your eyes to meet his. “You’re not the only one with marks of shame.”
You squeeze his hand back and give him a small smile. This is usually when you start listing the differences between them: he had zero control over his heritage, you had made the conscious decision to go against eons of tradition. His mother had tried to protect him as best she could. Your husband had stood by and watched you be cut by the village elders so they wouldn’t do the same to him. He has tried to convince you, shame is shame, details be damned. One day, he hopes you’ll believe him that when he sees you, all he can see is strength, resilience, and bravery.
He sees everything he wants to be and that’s a much bigger secret than the kayak.

The Drowning Kind: Part II
Title: The Drowning Kind
Pairing: Captain Sean Renard x OFC (written as a reader)
Rating: Explicit
Summary: You heard of the Portland Grimm and leave your fundamentalist group of naiads in Vancouver. You just wanted a safe fresh start; you didn't expect to fall in love with a royal hybrid police captain.
There are two things that naiads are experts in: swimming and secrets.
When you first met Sean Renard, you immediately recognized a fellow secret keeper. Words were used sparsely and with the craft of saying enough but providing no actual information. It was a language that you spoke fluently and his presence soon became the closest thing you ever felt to being home. You didn’t think he felt the same way until you saw the red kayak on the river at ten o’clock at night two days after the close of the case you had offered assistance.
The late night rendezvous continued for the next two weeks, you floating alongside the boat while conversation flowed, still guarded but slowly unfurling tiny bits of information. You moved from Vancouver for a fresh start. His ancestry was old, traced back hundreds of years from Europe. You were living in a broken down house along the river because that was all you could afford. He was living in a penthouse in Portland. You had taught yourself how to read and write, your village not strong believers in their women being educated. He spoke five languages and had the best education money could buy.
Slowly, more valuable pieces started to become revealed. His hybrid heritage. Your disfigured hands and feet. His tiring game of playing both ends against the middle to protect the Portland Grimm. Your deep scars of a betrayal from someone you had trusted. He was searching for balance between the two worlds he represented. You were searching for the girl who had dreams and once believed that love was real.
So you found each other.
Due to the situation he found himself in, along with a diabolical brother who searched for leverage in every aspect of his life, you understood why this needed to stay a secret. For your protection and everyone else around you, no one could know that you had regained that tiny spark of hope that maybe love wasn’t a myth. You still weren’t convinced of what this was between you two but it was precious enough to protect. And you did, for the first time in a long time, feel truly protected. So you kept the secret.
“Where are we going?”
You glance over your shoulder. “What’s the matter, Sean? Don’t you trust me?”
The smile he gives you is sly, a subtle twist to the side of his mouth. “All I asked is what did you do today. Now you have me on one of the uninhabited islands in the middle of the river. I’m sure you can understand my unease.”
“I do,” you respond. Trust is hard for both of you after the lives you’ve lived. “It’s worth it, I promise.”
You found the abandoned fishing shack the same way you find everything, by accident. Growing up along riverbanks and on the edges of lakes in Vancouver, you had more of a need to know the flow of the water and the islands that got in the way of it. You were spending much of your free time learning the same thing here in Portland. That knowledge is what crossed your path with Detectives Burkhart and Griffin.
A group of college kids who had too much to drink had gone missing after an afternoon of tubing on the river. They unknowingly became prey for some rowdy wendigo and needed to be found ASAP. Burkhart had reached out to the naiad community in the harbor and you had wanted to show your worth to your new community. You didn’t expect to be the one to find them but you did, only one out of the group of seven fell victim to the wendigo. Now, you were the riverway consultant for the Portland PD.
After your maiming, you were still able to be useful.
The shack was falling down, abandoned for years. It didn’t take much to patch the small roof or replace the broken board walls. It was meant to be a shelter from the elements, nothing longstanding. There’s no electricity that runs into it so you have to get creative in how to fix it up. Abel and his daughters helped you out by using their fishing boat to bring a futon, small armchair, and a desk. You brought some of your books and candles. You pitched it to them as your retreat but your true intention is to share it with only one other person.
He takes in the ramshackle little hut with cautious curiosity. “Did you build this?”
“No, I’m not that talented.”
You push the door open hesitantly. You had already lit some of the candles, the soft glow flickering off the wooden walls and furniture. It actually looked more inviting than you thought it would. But then you remember the one time you visited his apartment in Portland. The large windows overlooking the city and river. The polished granite counters in the kitchen, the artwork that hung on the walls, and the bottle of wine he was there to pick up. All of it was worth more than anything you had ever seen before in your life. What were you thinking trying to pass this off as something special?
“I think it’s lovely.”
You feel heat rise to your cheeks. He’s patronizing you. Making the simple, little naiad believe she had done something magnificent when really he was laughing at you. Words are failing you and you silently stare at your feet until he nudges your shoulder playfully.
“You going to let me in? Because I really want to investigate something in there.”
You look around the space wondering what he could be talking about when he picks you up, your arms looping around his neck and your legs wrapping around his waist. You start to ask what it was he wanted to investigate when he takes the opportunity to kiss you. After a long day of not seeing each other, you easily give in to the familiar press of his lips against yours. You hear the door being kicked shut and feel yourself in freefall, stopped when you land on the futon.
“So,” you ask him from your sprawled position on the blankets, “what exactly did you want to investigate?”
He pulls his shirt over his head and drops it on the floor. “I want to see if that futon can hold the both of us.”
You reach behind your back and untie the crocheted bikini top, tossing it on top of his discarded shirt. His eyes darken at the sight of your bare breasts and suddenly this rehabbed fishing hut doesn’t seem like such a silly secret after all.

The Long Wait (Season 2) Chapter 14
One Angry Fuschbau
Fandom: Grimm
Pairing: Sean Renard/OFC
The Long Wait Masterlist
A/N: The gang work to stop a wesen lawyer from influencing the jury of a murder case.
The next few weeks passed slowly. Lorelei had started to slowly let Sean back in. She’d started off with text messages and the occasional phone call. She wasn’t ready to go back to what they were, but she had to do something. Especially since she was going to be dropping a pretty big bomb on him. Lorelei was grateful that her pregnancy symptoms weren’t too bad. Some morning sickness (which did not just happen in the morning) here and there, lots of nausea and fatigue. Her boobs had started to swell, and she had to buy some new bras. Something else Lorelei was grateful for was that Nick hadn’t questioned why she was seeing an OBGYN. Lorelei was on Nick’s insurance since she was only part time at work. Nick had insisted she go on his insurance until she had finished her Masters. Lorelei was happy she didn’t have to worry as much, as Nick had pretty good insurance.
Lorelei had heard from Monroe and Rosalee that Juliette was starting to get her memories of Nick back, although she had asked that they keep it from him for the time being. That did change when Juliette insisting on seeing the trailer. Monroe hadn’t wanted to, but apparently Juliette had threatened to leave Portland, forgetting Nick once and for all. It hadn’t taken Nick long to agree to it. Monroe had taken Juliette to the trailer, which had only brought forward more memories and more questions. It was agreed that for now, they would give Juliette space, unless she asked for help.
One evening, Lorelei found herself at the spice shop with the rest of their little group, trying to find a way to stop a ziegevolk lawyer from using his pheromones to win a murder trial. They were looking through Rosalee’s books for answers.
“Here’s something about pheromone production using salamanders.” Hank commented, showing the book to Rosalee.
“No, gotta be toads.” Rosalee told him, as Monroe piped in.
“This one has a lengthy treatise on ziegevolk anatomy, but the author seems mostly interested in rehashing the old three versus four stomachs debate.”
Nick looked at him in surprise. “That’s a debate?”
“Oh, yeah.” Monroe replied.
“There is something here in the ziegevolk’s brain.” Rosalee said. “The geruck gland, which is below the hypothalamus, is unique to the ziegevolk and is devoted solely to regulating the release of pheromones through the sweat glands.”
“That’s how they utilise their pheromones so effectively.” Lorelei commented, as she moved closer to Rosalee to look at the book.
“What does it say about toads?” Nick asked.
“Nothing here, but it’s pretty obvious that when they eat certain amphibians it super stimulates this gland and sends the production and strength of the pheromone into overdrive, so this is our target.” Rosalee explained.
Hank looked at her. “So, how do we get to it?”
“We make a solution that neutralises that gland, which will stop him from producing pheromones, no matter how many toads he eats. Sort of a pheromone vasectomy, which will negate everything he’s told the jury.”
“Well, let’s do it.” Hank said.
“Ok.” Rosalee said, glancing back down. “Oh, oh no. There’s one unfortunate ingredient we need.”
“Should have seen that coming.” Monroe said, rolling his eyes.
“What is it?” Lorelei asked.
“Barry Kellogg’s sweat.” Was Rosalee’s reply. Everyone looked at her, no doubt wondering how they were going to obtain it.
Hank is the one who voiced that particular question. “How the hell do we get that?”
“First we find him, then we make him sweat.” Nick said.
Lorelei wasn’t part of their plan to get Barry Kellogg’s sweat. Rosalee sent her home after she kept falling asleep. She had tried arguing, but Rosalee gave her own Mom Look which led to Lorelei agreeing. Nick had commented that Lorelei must be really tired if she was giving in so easily. Lorelei had given him the one finger salute as she left. As Lorelei was walking to the elevator in the parking garage, she saw Sean waiting as well. He glanced up from his phone, smiling at her. “Hi.”
“Hey.” Lorelei said, returning the smile. “I heard you had an encounter with a Verrat agent.”
Sean nodded. “Yes, unfortunately.” He said as the elevator arrived and they got in. “Nick told you?”
Lorelei yawned before nodding. “Yep. Said to keep an eye out. Although, Verrat agents don’t have the greatest track record with me.”
Sean laughed. “So, I’ve heard. You were out with Nick?”
“Yeah. At the spice shop.” She told him. “Trying to find a way to neutralise a ziegevolk lawyer’s pheromones, to stop him for influencing the jury in a murder trial.”
Sean looked intrigued. “Which lawyer?” He asked.
“Uh, Barry Kellogg.” Lorelei replied, trying to stifle another yawn. “You know him?”
“I’ve heard of him. He always wins his cases. Guess I know why now.” Sean commented. He looked at Lorelei. “Did you find a way?”
Lorelei nodded as the elevator opened on her floor, they both stepped out and Sean walked her to her door. “Yeah. We found something. Rosalee sent me home because I kept falling asleep. The others are working on it.”
Sean gently brushed a strand of hair out her face. “You do look exhausted. Are you alright?”
“Yeah. I think I’m just a bit burnt out. I can’t wait for summer vacation. More free time, less stress.” She stifled another yawn. “I’m going to head to bed.”
“Yes, get some sleep. And try to take it easy.” Sean told her.
Lorelei nodded, turning to unlock her door. “Goodnight Sean.”
“Goodnight Lorelei.”
The next evening, Lorelei joined the group and Bud to celebrate their success in neutralising Kellogg’s pheromones and ensuring that justice was served. Bud had been recruited to help gain access to Kellogg and his sweat, while Hank and Nick than kept Kellogg busy while Monroe injected the toad with the potion. It truly was a group effort.
“If it wasn’t for what you did, I’d be part of setting a killer free.” Rosalee said, as Monroe filled their glasses with champagne.
“We saved some lives, Nidaria’s in jail.” Nick said.
“And Kellogg will never be able to set foot in front of a jury again without antagonising them.” Hank commented.
“I still can’t believe I stole a guys sweat.” Bud said with a smile.
They all laughed before clinck-ing their cups together and cheers-ing each other. The others all drank, however Lorelei didn’t. No one seemed to notice, except for Rosalee who gave Lorelei a strange look. Monroe stepped out when someone came into the shop. Rosalee went to join him. Suddenly they heard an angry voice and Rosalee shrieked. The rest of them piled out into the main shop to see what was happening. Monroe had woged and was throwing a man across the shop, into the shelves, before attacking him further. Nick ran up and pulled him off the man.
The man, who had also been woged, turned back. “You! You’re the one chased me.”
Monroe looked back at Nick. “He attacked Rosalee. So, you basically just saved this guy’s life.” Monroe wrenched himself out of Nick’s grip and went over to Rosalee.
The man, Kellogg, Lorelei guessed looked up at Nick. “You, you’re the cop.” He looked at Hank. “And you!”
Bud came running out then. “Hey, what’s going on?” He stopped and looked at Kellogg in surprise, as Nick handcuffed Kellogg. “Oh, boy. Hi. How you doing?”
“All of you. You all did this to me.” He said, looking around at all of them.
“Gonna be tough to prove in court.” Hank told him.
“You’re under arrest for assault.” Nick told him. “Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.” He finished reading him his rights as he led him out the door.
Lorelei laughed. “I wonder if they’ll let him share a cell with his client.”
A/N: Another short one, Lorelei wasn’t involved in a whole lot. Rosalee is starting to get suspicious. Who do you think will find out first? Also, I am Australian, so I don't know a whole lot about the health insurance in the US so, I'm taking some creative liberties with it.

The Long Wait (Season 2) Chapter 13
Mr Sandman
Fandom: Grimm
Pairing: Sean Renard/OFC
The Long Wait Masterlist
A/N: A strange wesen is in town, well stranger than normal.
A few days after Sean stopped by, Lorelei, Nick, Hank, Rosalee and Monroe met at Monroe’s place for dinner to discuss the recent developments. Nick had confirmed that Sean was wesen.
“I can’t believe our captain is a hexenbiest.” Hank commented
“Well, technically, he’s a zauberbiest, being male.” Rosalee told him. “But I never heard of either being Royal. Somethings not adding up here.”
“I’ll tell you what’s not adding up, is a captain in the Portland police department is at least part hexenbiest, has Royal blood, and woke Juliette up from her coma with a kiss. Wait a minute, do we know who his parents are?”
“I don’t.” Nick said.
“Me neither.” Hank added.
“I know that his mother is the hexenbiest. And his father is King Frederick of the House of Kronenberg. At least, according to Adalind.” Lorelei told them.
“Right, cause we can trust anything she says.” Monroe said. “But if it is true than…”
“He wouldn’t be fully accepted as a member of the Royal family.” Rosalee said, and Lorelei felt her heart go out to Sean. She knew he didn’t have a good relationship with his half-brother, he had never mentioned anything about his father or the rest of his family. “It might be why he is so interested in you two.” She directed this towards Nick and Lorelei. “If he has you two working for him, it could give him a big advantage over his family.”
“That’s probably why he gave you the key back” Monroe said with a mouth full of food.
“Yeah.” Hank said, agreeing with Monroe. “He wants you guys on his side.”
“But who’s side is he on?” Nick asked.
“And how many sides does he have?” Monroe added.
“That’s what we need to find out.”
“Either way, he’s got some big hairy plans.” Monroe said as got up. “Anyone want some more…?” He cut himself off when he saw the others holding out their wine glasses for a refill. “I’ll take that as a yes. Lorelei, you sure you don’t want any. You’re never one to turn down a glass of wine.”
Lorelei shook her head. “I’m sure. I’m still not feeling too well.”
Nick looked at her in concern. “Still? What did the doctor say?”
Lorelei shrugged. “Probably just the flu. Just told me to take it easy.”
Nick seemed to accept that; however, Lorelei saw Rosalee watching her intently from across the table. Lorelei glanced down at her plate, avoiding the older woman’s gaze. She knew about Lorelei’s interactions with Sean earlier in the year, however Lorelei had never updated her on the change in relationship status. Hopefully she wouldn’t work things out before Lorelei was ready to tell everyone.
A couple of days later, Lorelei was with Nick and Monroe at the trailer. Nick had a weird case, that may be wesen related. They were looking through the books, trying to see if anything jumped out at them. At one point, they heard someone approaching the trailer, which put them on alert. Thankfully it was Hank.
“Sorry I’m late.” He said, handing out the coffees he had brought with him.
“It’s ok. It looks like we found something.” Nick told him, gesturing to the book Monroe had in front of him. He and Hank joined Monroe and Lorelei by the table.
“It’s called a Jinnamuru Xunte.” Monroe said, struggling with the name.
“Alright, so what are we dealing with now?”
“Let’s see, departed London April 16, 1905, arrived Kenya May 20th.” Monroe said, reading from the book. “My third trip to the interior where I encountered one of the most fiendish wesen known on the dark continent. It took me fourteen days, but I finally captured the beast who has been terrorising villagers. He blinds the innocent, feeding off their tears like an opium addict. The tribesmen call him, uh, a jinnamuru xunte, which roughly translates as tear stealing evil spirit, which I find ironic since until recently he was the local parish priest.” Monroe looked up at the others in surprise. “Ok, so confession, right? Guilt, sin, remorse. That’s perfect for tears. It’s like a jinnamuru xunte smorgasbord of grief.” Monroe told them, before returning to the book. “When I removed his brain from his severed head, I discovered it was swollen, blackish, and crawling with vile red worms. Alright, anyone want to take over here?”
“I got it.” Lorelei told him, sliding the book towards her. “Jinnamuru xunte will often revisit his victims, targeting their family members whose tears are readily available.”
“So, he returns to feed off the grief he’s caused by blinding his victims.” Hank said, as Nick’s phone rang.
Hank and Nick headed off to check in on the surviving victim. The call had been from the ME who advised Nick that it was the same parasites they found in the first victim, and they were growing. Lorelei and Monroe headed to the spice shop to see if there was, anyway, they could help the second victim.
“He should have been here by now.” Monroe said, referring to Nick as he paced back and forth. “I mean, he should have been here by now!”
“He’ll be here.” Lorelei told him. “Probably just caught up.”
“This is very nasty. These parasitic worms have barbs that hook into the eyes, making them impossible to wash out.” Rosalee said, looking down at the book in front of her.
“Are you sure you’re looking at the right book?” Monroe asked her, standing beside her to look at the page. “Oy, god. What are we supposed to do?”
“I will find something.” Rosalee assured him, getting up to look at the shelves. “By the way, I was with Juliette last night.”
Lorelei and Monroe stared at her. “What?” Monroe asked.
“She’s like…having sort of hallucinations.”
“From the stuff we gave her?” Lorelei asked.
“I guess.” Rosalee replied and Monroe groaned. Before he could say anything, the door opened, and Hank came in carrying Nick. It looked as if their wesen had gotten him. Monroe was fretting as they bought him into the side room and laid him down.
“Look, we’ve been working on this for a while and the only thing that we’ve been able to figure out for sure is these worms, ok, they have barbs that actually hook into your eyeball.”
“Monroe.” Rosalee shouted at him.
“What? I’m telling him. It’s better to know.” Monroe defended himself. “I’d want to know, I think, I don’t know, maybe I wouldn’t. I’ll shut up.” He said, as Lorelei gave him a dirty look.
“Ok, we have to keep his eyes open. The worms thrive in the dark. Light slows them down.” Rosalee instructed, as she continued reading.
Hank instructed Nick to open his eyes, and Nick confirmed that he could not see anything at all. Rosalee joined them, and they were all surprised that Nick seemed to realise it was her. They set up a lamp in front of Nick. Hank took Lorelei and Monroe aside, telling them that previous victim no longer had any eyes left.
“I think Rosalee found something.” Nick commented from his spot on the loveseat.
“What are you talking about man? How do you know what…”
“Lorelei, Hank, Monroe. Can you come in here please?” Rosalee called out from the other room.
Weird looks were exchanged before they joined Rosalee in the main room. “There is a cure.” She told them quietly.
“Oh, thank god.” Hank said.
“But we have to pull his eye out.”
“Pull his eye out! How is that a cure?” Monroe asked.
“No, no, not Nick’s eye. The eye of the jinnamuru xunte.”
“Oh.”
“It’s like a vaccine. We need the antibodies that only the host carries. That’s why he’s not blind.”
“Ok, so…how are we supposed to pull out on of this guy’s eyes?”
“With a spoon.” Rosalee answered, showing them the image in the book. Monroe groaned in disgust.
“Are we supposed to do this while he is still alive?” Lorelei asked.
“Yes, and he has to be in full form.”
“Full woge!”
“How much?” Came Nick’s voice from behind them, they turned and saw him leaning against the door. “How much time do we have before these, worms finish their meal?”
Rosalee got up and rushed over to him. “The next three to four hours are crucial. After that, it’s too late” She told him honestly. She started to lead him back to the loveseat. “Ok, so we need you lying down and looking directly into the light. That is the only way we are going to slow this thing down.”
Lorelei, Rosalee, and Monroe worked on the potion needed to save Nick’s eyesight, while Hank waited to hear if Wu had managed to track the jinnamura xunte down. Lorelei kept glancing at her brother, looking so helpless. He couldn’t seem to catch a break. Hank received a call, and thanks to the information received Nick was able to work out where the jinnamura xunte was going. He was going after the sister of the second victim. The five of them packed up and headed off. They waited in the car, as Hank walked to the front door to check things out. Nick commented that it sounded like the jinnamura xunte was already in the house.
Eventually, after a fight between Lorelei, Nick and the jinnamura xunte, they managed to get its eyes. Nick’s eyesight was saved, and he seemed to walk away from the encounter with enhanced hearing.
The next evening, Lorelei found herself laying on her bed, looking at the sonogram photo she had received from the OBGYN. It still didn’t seem real that she was pregnant. Lorelei had never given it a lot of thought before. She was only nineteen, almost twenty, how many people her age were thinking about having babies. Lorelei would have to start planning what to buy, how she was going to juggle a baby on top of work and school, would she need to take time off school and work when the baby was born. The OBGYN had said based on her last period, she was due sometime in early November. However, Lorelei knew this was more of a guesstimate. The baby could come sooner or later than that. Based on some of her research, Lorelei saw that people usually waited until twelve weeks had passed before sharing news of their pregnancy with others. That gave Lorelei about six weeks to figure out how to tell both her brother and Sean. It also gave Lorelei some more time to figure out how she was going to do this.
A/N: Another shorter chapter. It was a little hard to incorporate Lorelei into this one. Sorry I didn’t really give you much in regard to the fight between Lorelei, Nick, and the jinnamura xunte. I was drawing a blank. No matter what I wrote, it was not good.

The Long Wait (Season 2) Chapter 1
Bad Teeth Part 1
Fandom: Grimm
Pairing: Sean Renard/OFC
The Long Wait Masterlist
A/N: First chapter of Part 2 of the Long Wait Series. Or Season 2 as I like to call it. Make sure to show me some love, as I require external validation. And if you are interested in being added to the taglist, let me know.
“Looks pretty quiet in there.” Monroe commented while checking on the cat. Rosalee and Lorelei were finalising some final ingredients. “Cats don’t um, play possum do they?”
“Not with what I gave it.” Rosalee told him. “Ok, now bring me the cat.”
Wearing thick gloves, usually used for zaubertranks, Monroe opened the carrier and brought it over. Lorelei watched as Rosalee dipped the cat’s paws into the zaubertrank she had made. “What’s supposed to happen?” She asked.
“If it turns yellow, I’ll have a good idea of what the toxin was that infected Juliette.” Rosalee explained. “If it turns green, there’s still a good chance I can help.”
The three watched the bowl and after a moment, it changed colours. “Hey, what about blue?” Monroe asked, looking a little optimistic.
Rosalee, however, did not look happy. She looked up at Monroe and Lorelei. “We have to talk to Nick now.”
Being unable to reach Nick, they hurried over to Nick and Juliette’s house, fearing that Kimura may have paid him a visit. The trio rushed up to the front door, and Monroe began banging on it. After a moment, Nick opened the door.
“Hey, we tried calling, but...” Monroe trailed off. He moved into the house with Rosalee and Lorelei following. As she entered, Lorelei saw what had caught Monroe’s attention. “Dude. What the hell happened here?”
The house was trashed, much like Sean’s had been earlier. The trio continued walking further into the house as Nick closed the front door. “Kimura, remember that guy I was telling you about?”
“Oh man.” Monroe said, however he seemed to be scenting the air. “He’s still here. I can smell him.”
“That’s not a him.” Rosalee said, also scenting the air. “That’s a her.”
Lorelei pulled her dagger from her jacket, while Rosalee and then Monroe woged. Suddenly, a woman in black tackled Monroe, knife in hand. There was grunting and growling, as Rosalee went to help Monroe. Nick pushed her back. “Stop, stop, don’t hurt them, don’t hurt her.”
He pulled the woman in black off Monroe and tried to stop her from attacking him. “Do not hurt him. His name is Monroe.”
“He’s a blutbad.” The woman gasped out.
Nick glanced back at their friends. Lorelei had moved over to them, checking to make sure that Monroe was alright.
“Yeah, Rosalee’s a fuschbau. They are both our friends. Mine and Lorelei’s.”
Lorelei was pissed. First Sean, then Juliette and now this bitch attacked Monroe. Dagger still in hand, she tried moving forward. “Who the hell is this bitch?”
Monroe pushed Lorelei behind him in an attempt to protect her, while also going for the woman. Nick pushed him back. He looked at them. “She’s, my mother.” He said, before focusing on Lorelei. “She’s, our mother.”
Lorelei froze. No, it wasn’t possible. Their mother was dead, so was their father. Had been for over eighteen years. They were murdered, died in a fiery car crash. She stared at the woman who was alternating her gaze between Monroe and Rosalee, and Lorelei.
“Dude.” Lorelei faintly heard Monroe say. “You told me she was…I mean isn’t she supposed to be not so alive.”
“Yeah, that’s what I thought.” Nick replied.
The woman…. their mother spoke up. “I don’t believe what I’m hearing. Are you friends with them?” she asked Nick.
Rosalee spoke this time. “We’re friends with them.” She said, referring to both Nick and Lorelei.
“Yeah, it took a little getting used to for us too, you know?” Monroe told their mother. He looked at Nick. “Did you know she was coming?”
“No.”
Remembering their reason for coming over, Rosalee stepped forward. “Juliette is in real danger, Nick, and we don’t have much time.”
“Who’s Juliette?” Their mother said. Their mother, Mom, Kelly. Lorelei wasn’t sure what to refer to her as. This woman was a stranger. Yeah, she gave birth to her, but she didn’t have any memories of her. Everything she knew came from pictures, Nick and Aunt Marie.
“Oh, wow, so you two really haven’t caught up in any significant way, I guess.” Monroe commented.
Nick turned to Kelly. Ok, guess we are going with Kelly, Lorelei thought to herself. “Juliette’s my girlfriend.”
“And she’s in a coma because of a hexenbiest.” Rosalee said loudly.
“The hexenbiest that Nick destroyed, with our help, by the way. You know, just for the record.” Monroe told her.
“Nick, the spell is called L’Esprit Ailleurs.” Rosale told Nick.
“Literally: spirit elsewhere.” Monroe interpreted.
Rosalee explained what the spell did, including memory loss with symptoms like dementia. They needed to stop the progression; however, they had the ingredients mixed and cooking. The downside was that it took 16 hours before it would be ready. After explaining, Rosalee and Monroe headed towards the door, with Lorelei following them. “Lorelei.”
Lorelei stopped. The first words Kelly had spoken to her since she arrived. “I... have to go help Monroe and Rosalee.” Lorelei stuttered out, before she slipped out the door ahead to the other two.
As she hurried to the car, she heard Monroe say “Dude, I gotta be honest your mother scares the crap out of me, man.”
She was aware that Nick had come outside as well, but she just wanted to get as far away from this house as possible for now. She needed time to process this. Once she had reached the car, Lorelei slipped into the backseat and put her belt on, waiting patiently for Monroe and Rosalee to join her. Once they got in, she asked if they could drop her off at home, telling them she would be back at the spice shop later when the sun was up to get her car and to help.
The ride home was silent. When they dropped her off, Lorelei didn’t say much other than a goodbye before she hurried inside. Molly greeted her as she entered. Lorelei trudged towards her bedroom, checking on the sleeping officers who were slumped together on the couch. Ben was snoring and Lucy was mumbling in her sleep, Daisy still in her lap. A little grateful the officers seemed to be alive, Lorelei continued her trek to her bedroom. Not bothering to get undressed, Lorelei kicked her shoes off and got under the covers. She didn’t think she would be able to sleep but was out once her head hit the pillow.
Lorelei awoke to sound of her phone ringing a few hours later. The sun was up. Lorelei glanced at the clock. It was just before 7am. Groaning, she reached over and grabbed her phone, flopping down against the pillows before she answered it.
It was Nick, calling to check in on her. He also let her know that Kimura was in custody and that Kelly was still at his house, hinting that if Lorelei wanted to speak with her privately, she could. He had an investigation and was on his way to the crime scene. He was happy to hear that Lorelei had gone home and gotten some sleep. After they hung up, Lorelei laid in bed, staring at the ceiling. Letting out a breath, she got up and wandered out into the living area. The officers were gone, and she found a note from Lucy confirming that Kimura was in custody, and she was now free of her babysitters. She had also left her number in case she ever wanted to hang out.
The bell above the spice shop door rang as Lorelei entered a couple of hours later. Freshly washed, clean clothes, and balancing three coffees: two hot coffees, one cold. Lorelei needed the extra sugar.
“Hey sweetie.” Rosalee said, as Lorelei stepped into the side room.
“Hey, I come bearing caffeine.” Lorelei said, smiling at her friend.
Rosalee returned the smile, coming over to grab the coffees. “Thank you. Did you get any sleep?”
Lorelei nodded. “I got a few hours. How about you?” she asked, glancing at Monroe who was seated at the table looking half asleep.
Rosalee shook her head. “Not a lot. I got started on the zaubertrank to counteract Adalind’s spell. Now, its just a matter of waiting.” She placed Monroe’s coffee in front of him before giving him a little shake to wake him up. “Lorelei’s here.” She told him softly.
Monroe spun around. “Hey, how are you? You know, after finding out about your mom’s, uh return from the dead.”
Lorelei shrugged as she sat beside him, reaching for her coffee. “You know, conflicted.”
Monroe nodded. “I guess it was a big shock.”
“Nick said she is still at his house.” Lorelei commented. “He also told me he had an investigation. Said he would call later to check on the antidote.”
Monroe looked nervous. “Ah, so, your mom is sticking around then?”
Lorelei shrugged. “I guess so.”
She saw Rosalee and Monroe exchange a glance before Rosalee changed the subject, asking how the police officers she drugged were. She looked relieved when Lorelei informed her that they had left her house as they had entered. She also let them know Kimura was in custody. Lorelei felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. She pulled it out and saw Katie was calling her. God, she hadn’t even told Katie what was happening. Excusing herself, she wandered further out the back to take the call.
“Hey.” Lorelei said softly, trying to sound like everything was ok.
“Hey, how are you?” Katie asked from the other end.
“I’m ok. Didn’t get much sleep. How are you?”
Katie paused. “Ah, yeah. Good, good. Um…are you free to meet up today? It won’t be for a long…I just need to talk to you about something.”
If Lorelei hadn’t been stressed and sleep deprived, she would have picked up on her girlfriend’s…odd behaviour. “Ah, what time do you start work?”
“No work today. It’s my day off remember. Wow, you must be really tired.”
Lorelei rubbed her eyes. “Yeah, sorry. Um, I’m at the spice shop today. There’s a great place for coffee nearby, and a park. I could do with some fresh air.”
“Sounds good. Send me the address. We can meet up for an early lunch. Around midday?”
“I’ll see you then.” Lorelei said.
“See you then.”
Lorelei returned to Monroe and Rosalee. Monroe seemed to have perked up a bit, while Rosalee was checking the zaubertrank. “Who was that?” Rosalee asked.
Lorelei smiled at her. “You are such a mom sometimes.” Rosalee blushed a little at that comment. “And it was Katie. She wanted to meet up for coffee today. Said she had to tell me something.”
Lorelei did not miss the look that Monroe and Rosalee exchanged. “What?” she asked. Another look was exchanged. “Come on, I saw those looks.”
One last look before Monroe spoke up “It’s just that usually when someone tells you they need to tell you something. It can sometimes mean…”
“Something bad.” Rosalee stated apologetically. “There is rarely good news when someone you’re in a relationship with says they need to tell you something or…”
“We need to talk.” Monroe added, the look on his face indicating that someone had said that to him once, and the conversation ended in bad news.
“Oh.” Lorelei said slowly, sitting back down in her chair. She fiddled with the straw of her drink. “But its not always a bad thing. Right?”
Monroe and Rosalee were unable to answer.
Lorelei was glad when the time to meet Katie came. Monroe and Rosalee had been throwing her sympathetic glances ever since she got off the phone with Katie. She had ended up leaving earlier than necessary to escape their hovering. As she walked up the street, the closer she got to their meeting spot, the more filled with dread Lorelei became. As she reached their meeting spot, she found Katie out the front. “Hey, I grabbed a couple of things for you. A frappe and chicken caesar salad wrap.”
Lorelei smiled at her gratefully, as she took the offered items. “Thanks. I haven’t really eaten yet. You said you had to tell me something.”
Katie nodded, looking nervous. “Yeah, um, let’s take a walk.”
They headed to the nearby park and sat down at a picnic table. Lorelei looked at Katie expectantly, although Katie had a hard time meeting her gaze. Katie let out a breath. “I’m sorry, I’m not sure where to start.”
Lorelei offered her a small smile. “Maybe at the beginning.”
Katie laughed slightly and mumbled something to herself before looking up at Lorelei. “I met my soulmate.”
Of all the things Lorelei was expecting, that was not it. She felt torn. Meeting your soulmate was a big deal. However, Lorelei knew it no doubt meant the end of their relationship. After a moment, Lorelei offered Katie a genuine smile. “You did? Tell me about her, wait, it is a her right? Otherwise it may be awkward.”
Katie nodded, seeming relieved. “Yeah, it’s a her. She actually goes to Portland State as well. I saw her mark when she came in to work yesterday. Same mark, same spot.” Katie explained, a small smile on her face. “She has come in before, but I never paid much attention, she was always wearing long sleeves. But yesterday, she was wearing a tank top, and I saw the mark.” Katie’s mark was just above her wrist, on the inside of her arm. “Her name is Melody, and she’s actually a fuschbau. She waited around for me to finish work, and we spent all afternoon talking.” Katie paused. “But I swear, only talking. We are both in relationships with people we care about. Neither of us wanted to be a cheater, so we are both waiting until we are single.”
“Wait, Melody? Tall, long curly red hair?”
Katie nodded. “Yeah.”
“I think I met her; she came into the spice shop one day while I was there. Scared the shit out of her, of course. But she was really nice, very pretty. If I didn’t have you, I would have given her my number.” Lorelei joked. Katie seemed to relax. Lorelei sighed a little. “I guess this means our relationship has reached its end?”
“I’m so sorry.” Katie said quietly, looking at the table.
Lorelei reached across the table and took her hands gently. Katie looked back up. “It’s ok. We weren’t each other’s soulmates; I knew our relationship had an expiration date. And I am so happy for you. Maybe a little jealous, I am now looking forward to finding my own.”
Katie looked up. “Really?”
“Really.”
Katie sighed. “I don’t want to lose you. You were more than a girlfriend; you were a friend.”
Lorelei smiled. “I feel the same way. You know, if Melody feels comfortable, maybe we can continue to be friends.”
Katie returned the smile. “I think she’ll be ok with it. When I told her about you, she remembered you from the spice shop. Thought it was kind of cool I was dating the cute Grimm.” Lorelei blushed. “I also worry about you. You’ve been getting more involved with your brother’s work. I know you’re a Grimm as well, but your closet friends are friends with your brother. I still want to be here, so you have someone to talk to about that stuff.”
“I would appreciate that.”
Their meeting didn’t last much longer after that. They finished their coffee and food, before heading their separate ways. Not before Katie apologised a few more times. Lorelei went straight to her car and headed home. Once there, she sent a message to Rosalee letting her know what had happened and telling her she just wanted some time alone. Lorelei loved Monroe and Rosalee, but she had no doubt they would be overbearing upon learning about her breakup. Thankfully, she wasn’t really needed to help get the potion to Juliette. Hopefully Nick would understand why she was sitting this one out.

The Long Wait Chapter 14
A Fuschbau, A Blutbad and a Grimm
Fandom: Grimm
Pairing: Sean Renard/OFC
The Long Wait Masterlist
A/N: A nice little chapter including two of my favourite characters, Monroe and Rosalee. The ultimate couple. Also, if you want to be added to the taglist whenever a new chapter comes out, comment below.
“So, are you looking forward to your romantic trip away?” Lorelei asked Nick, as she finished loading her washing into the machine. It was laundry day and Lorelei was once again utilising her brother’s machine. It was a rare Sunday where Nick wasn’t working, and Juliette had stepped out to grab some ingredients for lunch.
“Yeah. It will be good to get away. No work, no wesen. Just me and Juliette.” Nick replied. “I’m actually planning on proposing to Juliette while we are away.” He admitted.
Lorelei was a little surprised to hear that, especially considering how awkward things had been with the couple. “Oh yeah?”
Nick nodded. “It’s the perfect opportunity. No distractions, in a cosy cabin with a roaring fire. It’ll be perfect.”
Lorelei debated whether to ask him if he really thought it was a good idea, especially considering he still hadn’t told Juliette about his second job. However, Nick looked so excited, she didn’t have the heart to burst his bubble. “I look forward to hearing about it. The proposal, not what I assume would happen after it.”
Nick rolled his eyes. “As if I would share that much with you.”
Lorelei laughed. “I would hope not.”
“I am a little worried about what happens if Hank gets a case involving a wesen.” Nick said.
This time it was Lorelei’s turn to roll her eyes. “You act like Hank never arrested a wesen before. He’ll be fine.” She assured him. Nick nodded, although he didn’t seem as sure as she did. “You just focus on having a good time, away from the responsibilities of being a cop and a Grimm.”
The day after Nick and Juliette headed away, Lorelei decided to visit Rosalee at the spice shop in the afternoon as she was still on Spring Break and had the day off work. When Lorelei walked into the shop, she was surprised to see Monroe walk out carrying some boxes.
“Ah, and here I thought I was getting a few Burkhardt free days.” He joked upon seeing her.
Lorelei rolled her eyes. “Haha, very funny. What are you doing here?” she asked.
“I could ask you the same thing.”
Lorelei shrugged. “I have a free day, so I thought I would stop by.”
Rosalee came out behind Monroe, also carrying some boxes. “Hi Lorelei.” She placed the boxes down and moved over to Lorelei, giving her a big hug. “How are you?”
“I’m good. And yourself?” Lorelei answered, returning the hug.
“Can’t complain. I have a big strong blutbad to help me restock.” Rosalee said, patting Monroe on the arm. Lorelei hid a smile as Monroe’s face turned red and he ducked his head, clearly trying to hide it.
“He is very helpful.” Lorelei said. “Anything I can do to help?”
Rosalee walked over to the counter and picked up a sheet of paper. “You can check items off the list, as we restock them and take note of what needs to be restocked.”
“Sounds good.”
The trio had been working for some time. “Look, I really appreciate you helping me out with all this stuff.” Rosalee said, as she and Monroe returned to the front with some more boxes.
“Well, you never know when I might need a discount on ‘Tincture of Prickle Poppy’.” Monroe stated, looking at the label on the bottle before looking back at Rosalee in confusion.
Rosalee smiled. “Yeah, that’s for um, romantic stamina.” She told him.
“Oh well, no wonder why I didn’t know what it was.” He said. Rosalee laughed, while Lorelei rolled her eyes from her position at the counter. Those two had low key been flirting all afternoon.
“I found something.” Rosalee said, as she pulled what appeared to be an envelope from among the shelves. Curious, Lorelei moved over to where they were standing.
“Oooh, maybe its money.” Monroe said
“It’s not money. It’s passports.” Rosalee said, pulling them from the envelope. “From Brazil, Canada…”
“And Germany.” Monroe finished. “I wonder who they belong to.” They opened the passports, trying to determine who they belong to. Each one had a picture of the same man. “Is that your brother? In all of them?”
“Yeah, but with different names.” Rosalee replied, sounding confused.
“What was he a spy or something?”
“I have no idea.”
At that moment, Monroe’s phone rang. He pulled it out and sighed heavily when he saw the caller ID. He answered it, shooting a look at Lorelei. It had to be Nick.
“Hey Nick. I thought a vacation for you, kinda meant, you know a vacation for me too.”
Yep. Definitely Nick. What the hell could he need Monroe’s help for?
“My groin is fine, thank you.” Rosalee and Lorelei exchanged a look, as Monroe turned to look at them, shaking his head before returning to his call.
“Woah, woah, woah. Is this a joke? That sounds like a Seltenvogel, if they weren’t extinct.”
Rosalee perked up slightly, at the name of the wesen. “A seltenvogel?” she asked Monroe. Lorelei looked at them in confusion. She hadn’t heard of that type of wesen before. But if they were thought to be extinct, it made sense.
“It sounds like it.” He replied before returning his attention to Nick. “Yeah, I’m with Rosalee and Lorelei, helping out at the shop. But let’s get back to the seltenvogel. In the ancient times they were highly valued and usually kept prisoner, you know like a concubine or a parakeet…..Once in their life a seltenvogel produces this kind of large…glandular thing…”
“I think it’s called an unbezahlbar.” Rosalee said, coming down the ladder. She walked off, and Monroe watched after her.
“Easy for you to say.” He said to her. Monroe walked after her, holding out the phone as she repeated the word.
“My brother has a book.” Rosalee said, as she walked around the counter and began looking through under it.
“Hang on, we’re looking.” Monroe told Nick. Lorelei joined them, leaning over the counter from the front.
“Here it is.” Rosalee said, pulling out an old looking book. She began flipping through the pages. “Oh here.”
“Ok, uh it is a dense mineral deposit which grows in the throat sack…” Monroe began.
Rosalee continued, leaning closer to Monroe reading the entry “…and develops something like an egg.”
Lorelei watched as the pair realised how close they were. They smiled at each other and Lorelei looked away, feeling as if she were witnessing something she shouldn’t.
“Anyway.” Monroe continued “Um, yeah if the stone gets too big its need to be delivered and the trick is getting it out intact because if it’s damaged it’s, you know, worthless…Well, its unbelievably rare for one thing, but its also supposed to be mostly gold if you believe in that kind of thing.” He listened to Nick and his eyes widened. “Oh man, this is the woman who’s with the klaustreich…Listen, if he’s anything like the guy I went to high school with, as soon as he gets what he wants she is going to be in big trouble man. And when I saw big trouble, I mean she is going to get plucked ok, big time.”
Not long after he hung up the phone, he looked at Rosalee and Lorelei with wide eyes. “I hope Nick is able to help that girl.” Lorelei said, while the other two nodded in agreement.
The three continued working together, no doubt thinking about Nick and the wesen he had met. Lorelei had considered driving out there, so Nick would have some backup, but Monroe talked her out it. They took a break to have dinner and continued working. Lorelei was in one of the back rooms with Rosalee, when her phone rang. Rosalee answered it and Lorelei’s attention was peaked when she heard her brothers voice emerge from the phone.
“Rosalee, hey, Nick Burkhard here. I need your help.” Lorelei joined Rosalee and saw that her brother was using Facetime.
“What’s wrong?” Rosalee asked.
“Well, I’m with…” he trailed off, turning the camera to face a woman who appeared to be struggling to breath “…Robin, the seltenvogel.”
“Nick, you need to get that stone out of her before it cuts off her airway.” Rosalee said with a serious tone.
“Yeah, I know. But how?”
Monroe entered the room. “Is that Nick? He called you? You called her?” he said, coming to stand behind Rosalee.
“Can you guys do this later? This girl needs help”
Monroe grabbed the book and flipped to the right page, and along with Rosalee they helped Nick through the process of removing the stone. Eventually Nick got it out and showed them.
“Oh wow.” Rosalee said. “How is she?”
“She seems to be breathing a lot better.” Nick noted. “I think she’s going to be ok.”
They congratulated Nick on a job well done and ended the call.
“Wow.” Monroe said and Rosalee laughed.
“We just saw something special, didn’t we?” Lorelei asked.
“Yeah, we did.” Rosalee told her, giving her a small hug.
Lorelei met up with Nick, a few days after he returned from his trip. He updated her on how things ended. Including, his proposal to Juliette once they returned home. “I just can’t believe she said no.” he said from his position on Lorelei’s sofa.
Lorelei couldn’t say she was surprised, but her brother didn’t need to be kicked while he was down. “Did she say why?”
“She said its because I am hiding things from her.” Was his answer.
Lorelei shrugged. “Well, she isn’t exactly wrong. You are hiding things from her.” She said tentatively.
“For her own good.” Nick retorted.
“I know that. But she doesn’t.” Nick sighed. “Look. Its your prerogative to keep this information from her and its her prerogative to not want to marry someone keeping things from her. It sucks, but it is how it is.”
Nick sighed again, running his hand over his face. “If I want to keep Juliette, I need to tell her the truth. But telling her the truth, could mean I lose her.”
Lorelei didn’t really know what to say, so she simply gave her brother a big hug, holding him close. Hoping he would be able to draw some comfort from it.

The Long Wait Chapter 11
Relationships are Complicated
Fandom: Grimm
Pairing: Sean Renard/OFC
The Long Wait Masterlist
“It’s weird, people just keep leaving food and presents.” Juliette commented, leaning against the door of the laundry as Lorelei loaded her washing into the machine.
“Yeah, it is a little weird.” Lorelei agreed, pausing to add detergent before turning the machine on. “What did Nick say?”
Juliette shrugged. “Not much. He didn’t even really have much to say when Bud dropped off the blanket. I feel like he knows more than he is letting on.”
Lorelei kept her mouth shut. Of course, Nick knew more than he was letting on, however he was still debating whether to tell Juliette about wesen and Grimm. Until he decided, he couldn’t tell her much without including the whole story. “It’s a possibility, I suppose. I’m sure if he is keeping anything from you, its for a good reason.”
Juliette sighed. “I suppose you're right. It's just frustrating.” She told Lorelei, as they moved back towards the kitchen to start on lunch. “But enough about your brother. How’s things with you? You still haven’t told me about the ‘Not a Date’ with that guy. Who, you still aren’t giving me anymore information on. Is not providing a lot of information a Burkhardt thing?”
Lorelei laughed. “I’m serious. It was not a date. He’s older than me, I doubt he is interested in me like that.” She told the older woman.
Juliette rolled her eyes. “Oh please, if he has eyes, he’s interested in you.” Lorelei shook her head and started peeling the carrots. “You are beautiful, you are incredibly intelligent, and you are one of the kindest people I have ever met. He’d be crazy not to want you.”
She joined Lorelei at the kitchen island and started working on the potatoes. Lorelei shrugged. “It is possible for men and women to be just friends you know.” Lorelei stated, despite knowing deep down that she wanted Sean to see her as more than a friend.
“I know, now stop changing the subject and spill.” Juliette said, brandishing the vegetable peeler at Lorelei. “What’s his name? What does he do? Where’d you meet? And how much older than you is he?”
Lorelei let out a small sigh, knowing Juliette would not give up until she had some information. “Ok, his name is Sean. He works in law enforcement. And, he is, I don’t know late thirties, early forties maybe. I haven’t really asked”.
Juliette glanced up at Lorelei briefly. “Ok, that’s a little older than I thought.” She said slowly. “When you mentioned he was older, I thought it might an age difference of five years, max.” She threw the potato peels in the bin and started to chop them up. “And law enforcement, is he a cop?” When Lorelei confirmed he was, Juliette continued. “It’s not easy being in a relationship with a cop. They work a lot, there is lots of worrying, missed plans…” she trailed off, possibly realising that she was speaking to the sister of her cop boyfriend. “Sorry, you do not to hear about mine and Nick’s relationship.”
“It’s ok, and I kind of get what you mean.” Lorelei told her. “Actually, speaking of worry, how are you doing after the whole kidnapping?”
Juliette let out a breath and shrugged. “I’m ok. Still a bit shaken up.” She said, keeping her gaze on the potatoes. “Nick feels awful. He keeps apologising, but it’s not his fault. How was he supposed to know that girl was crazy?” Lorelei nodded and Juliette continued. “Its just….it was the second time in as many months when Nick’s work followed him home. You know? I thought I knew what I had signed up for but….” She trailed off again, before looking up at Lorelei. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t be talking about this with you.”
“It’s really ok.” Lorelei assured her. “Besides, it’s the first time in your relationship when Nick’s work has directly impacted you. It makes sense that it would bring up some feelings, possibly cause you to reconsider things.”
Juliette nodded, biting her lip as she seemed to be considering her next words. “Does it make me a bad person?”
Lorelei looked at Juliette with sympathy. “No, it doesn’t. Look, I’m not expert on relationships and I can be a little biased because Nick is my brother, and I love him and want him to be happy. And you make him happy.” Lorelei paused for a moment. “But you need to do what is right for you. If what’s right for you is walking away, then….” Lorelei trailed off with a shrug.
Juliette put the knife down and wrapped her arms around Lorelei. “Thank you.” She said softly, before pulling away. “I’m not sure what I want to do. And I’m sorry again, for pulling you into Nick and mine’s relationship drama.”
Lorelei gave her a small smile. “You’ll figure it out. And, again, its ok. As long as you don’t start talking about your sex life….”
Both women started laughing at Lorelei’s comment.
Spring Break was approaching. Lorelei kept meaning to reach out to Sean to see if he wanted to meet up, but she had been busy. They had interacted via text message a few times, checking in and seeing how the other was. Lorelei was still trying to decide whether she should bite the bullet and ask Sean whether he wanted to just be friends or something more. However, she was afraid to making a fool of herself, of being rejected. Sean wasn’t like a lot of the people who expressed an interest in Lorelei. He was well established in life, a pillar of the community. They may have had some things in common, but their lives were vastly different. The more she thought about it, the more Lorelei was starting to convince herself that Sean’s interest in her was purely platonic. Perhaps he looked at her like Monroe did, as a younger sister. But still, a part of her truly wanted more, for him to her soulmate.
Before her classes one day, Lorelei headed to the campus café in desperate need of caffeine. As she joined the line, she smiled to herself when she saw that Katie was working. Katie was a sophomore studying architecture. She would flirt with Lorelei every time she was in the café. If Lorelei was honest, she flirted back. Lorelei did like Katie; however, her attraction to Sean and the fact that Katie was wesen had prevented Lorelei from taking the plunge and asking her out. Katie did not seem to be aware that Lorelei was a Grimm. She had seen Katie partially woge one day a few weeks ago. Lorelei had quickly looked away, afraid if Katie were to realise, she was a Grimm that she may start avoiding her. The last time someone she interacted with regularly had realised she was a Grimm; he had fled the state.
“Hey Lorelei, the usual?” Katie asked, flashing Lorelei a big smile.
Lorelei nodded, returning the smile. “Yeah, thanks Katie.” She replied, handing over the payment. “Any plans for Spring Break?”
After she had finished writing Lorelei’s order down, she accepted the payment. “Not really, I have friends heading to Los Angeles, but I have to work.” She rolled her eyes and Lorelei laughed. “How about you?”
“Same, I have to work as well. Being an adult can suck sometimes.” Lorelei said.
“Don’t I know it.” Was Katie’s reply. “Here’s your change, that’ll be ready soon.”
“Thanks Katie.” Lorelei stepped away from the counter and sat at a free table near the pickup area. She opened her planner to remind herself what was on the agenda for the day, however she kept glancing up at Katie.
Katie was cute and from what Lorelei knew was an out and proud lesbian. She was only a year older than Lorelei, compared to the roughly twenty years between her and Sean. The downside being that she was wesen and may lose interest when she found out Lorelei was a Grimm. There was a possibility she wouldn’t mind, Monroe seemed to have no issues being friends with Grimms. Maybe once she realised Lorelei wasn’t going to kill first, ask questions later, she might be open to dating. But what if she did have a future with Sean. Lorelei inwardly groaned. Why did dating seem so complicated? Maybe she’d be better off alone.
Lorelei’s thoughts were cut off when she heard Katie call out her name. She got up and grabbed her coffee, giving Katie a shy smile before returning to her table. Lorelei pulled the sugar container closer to her to add some extra sugar to her drink. It was as she was putting the lid back on the cup that she noticed extra writing on it. Looking closely, she saw that Katie had written a phone number and the words call me on the side of the cup. Lorelei quickly looked up and her eyes met Katie’s. Katie was clearly trying to play it cool, but Lorelei could see she was nervous. Lorelei gave her a smile and a thumbs up sign to indicate she was fine with the move Katie had made. Katie looked relieved, returned the thumbs up and returned to work.
Lorelei took a sip of her coffee. She would call Katie and arrange to meet up. She would tell her about being a Grimm and let Katie decide where to go from there. If Katie was cool with it, then great.
Katie would probably be a better fit for her than Sean anyway. Maybe.

The Long Wait Chapter 10 –
Out and About (Lorelei’s POV)
Fandom: Grimm
Pairing: Sean Renard/OFC
The Long Wait Masterlist
A/N: And now we have Sean and Lorelei's day out from her POV. I hope you enjoy it. Don't forget to interact. If you want to be tagged when the next chapter comes out, let me know in the comments.
Lorelei was a little anxious during the week leading up to, well she couldn’t call it a date, but day out with Sean. The spicy dream she had was still at the forefront of her mind. It was causing her to question if Sean Renard was indeed her soulmate. It may explain why he seemed to go out of his way to interact with her. It couldn’t be just because she was the younger sister of one of his detectives. Lorelei couldn’t recall if dreams played a role in helping identify your soulmate. She had explored the section on soulmates in the library and had found that some people did dream about their soulmates. However, there was conflicting information about whether that was due to the soulmate bond or if it was a coincidence. The only definitive way to identify one’s soulmate was by comparing marks. Lorelei did recall a classmate stating her attraction to her soulmate was instantaneous, that she was drawn to him. Another classmate noted that he and his soulmate did not get along at first. He found her attractive, but it took some time before the romantic attraction had started. They had known each other for a few years before anything happened between them; and it wasn’t until they started dating when they discovered they were soulmates. Lorelei decided to see what happened before her and Sean. It was possible they were not soulmates, and he simply liked her as a person. Her dream could just be a manifestation of her attraction to him.
Lorelei did find herself distracted, when Nick called her. He was filling her in on a case involving wesen and some ancient coins. He also told her about Farley Colt, who according to him had been engaged to Aunt Marie before their parents died.
“Aunt Marie was engaged to a wesen?” Lorelei asked in surprise. Her aunt had been single the entire time Nick and Lorelei had lived with her. She had never mentioned being involved with someone or a past engagement. Let alone to a wesen.
“Apparently.” Nick replied. “Although I’m not sure how much I trust this guy. Something about him seems off.”
“Probably wouldn’t mind getting him hands on the coins himself.” Lorelei commented and Nick hummed in agreement.
It was a couple of days later when Lorelei heard from Nick again. He updated her on the case, including the fact he was now in possession of the coins, hiding them away so no one could get their hands on them. Apparently, they had briefly ended up in the hands of Sean Renard. Nick believed their influence was why he had decided to announce to the press his plan to crack down on crime in the city. Lorelei was concerned to hear that Sean was assaulted for the coins in his possession. After hanging up with Nick, she had reached out the Sean to check up on him. He had a mild concussion but was otherwise fine. Lorelei had offered to put off their plans, however the captain had insisted he was fine. Lorelei begrudgingly accepted that, even though she thought Sean could probably do with some rest. No idea what other impact those coins could have had on him. The pair finalised their plans for Saturday, with Sean insisting he could pick Lorelei up from school.
Come Saturday morning, Lorelei found herself fluttering around her dorm, trying to decide what to wear. Sean had advised her to wear something comfortable but hadn’t provided any more information about what they were doing. She tried on several different outfits before deciding on a pair of black jeans, a camisole and green long-sleeved shirt. They would pair nicely with a pair of her boots and black jacket. She added some light makeup and decided on leaving her long hair down. Lorelei was finishing up her hair when she heard a knock on her door. He must be here. “Coming.” Lorelei called out, double checking her hair before she hurried over to open the door. Lorelei couldn’t stop the smile that crossed her face when she saw Sean standing at her door. She was surprised to see him wearing such casual clothes, a knit sweater and pair of dark pants.
“Sean, hey! How are you feeling?” she asked, making out some faint bruising on his face.
Sean returned her smile. “Hello Lorelei, I’m fine. As I told you, it was a mild concussion.”
“Please come in, I just have to put my shoes on.” She told him, turning around to find her shoes. “Now, what did I do with them?”
Lorelei spotted the boots she wanted sitting by her desk. She picked them up, trying to steady her racing heart. Lorelei was taken back to her dream, where Sean had come to her room late at night. ‘Nothing like that is going to happen, calm yourself. Don’t make things weird’ she chided herself. She grabbed her boots and sat down on the sofa, quickly putting them on and lacing up the straps.
“So, what are todays plans?” Lorelei asked him, as she finished tightening up the laces.
Sean, who had been glancing around her room, looked over at her “Have you had a chance to visit Pittock Mansion yet? He asked.
“No, not yet. I’ve been wanting to.” Lorelei told him, she went to grab her jacket, where it was sitting over the end of the sofa. Sean quickly grabbed it, holding it open for her. Lorelei felt her cheeks warm up, there was something very intimate about the action. She allowed him to help her into the jacket, directing a thanks over her shoulder. Lorelei finished zipping up her jacket and grabbed what she would need for the day.
“I remember you mentioning you liked history. I thought you would appreciate the history behind the mansion.” Sean commented.
Lorelei offered him a wide smile. “Your thoughts were correct. As I said, I’ve been wanting to see it.”
The pair left her dorm and headed outside. Sean surprised Lorelei again, when he opened the passenger side door for her. Lorelei hadn’t been on a date before, but it seemed to be date-like behaviour. Did Sean intend for this to be a date? No, he was just being a gentleman. Trying to stay out of her own head, Lorelei asked Sean how long he had been in Portland for, as they left the campus.
Sean glanced at her. “Around sixteen years,” he replied. “I moved here in 1995 when I joined the academy.”
Lorelei nodded. “Wow, it has been a while.” She noted. “The longest I ever lived somewhere was Baltimore. We moved around a lot when I was younger but when I started college, Aunt Marie decided to settle in Baltimore until I finished.” Sean hummed, to acknowledge he was listening “Where did you live before Portland?”
Sean let out a breath. “Much like yourself, I moved a lot when I was younger.” He told her. “I was born in Europe. My mother and I moved to the US when I was twelve.”
“Oh wow, Europe huh?” Lorelei commented. Sean hummed again, his eyes on the road. “I…” Lorelei trailed off as her phone let out a tone. “Excuse me.” She said, pulling it from her bag. Lorelei glanced at it briefly before returning her phone to her bag.
“Is it important?” Sean asked.
Lorelei shook her head. “Nah, it’s just Nick.” She told him. “I’ll reply later.”
“Does Nick know you are spending the day with me?” Sean enquired.
“Nope. I think he might get a little weird about me hanging out with his boss.” Lorelei replied. She was afraid Nick might have a problem with her spending time with his boss. He might also assume the pair were dating and go all overprotective brother on Sean. Lorelei didn’t know what was happening between her and Sean, but she didn’t want her brother involved.
Sean glanced at her as they left the city centre, the buildings becoming far and few between as more greenery emerged. “Do you think it’s weird?” he asked her.
Lorelei laughed. “No. I mean, you’re not my boss.” She stated.
Sean smiled. “No, I am not.” He agreed.
Lorelei continued to observe the scenery, pointing out the Japanese Gardens and expressing her desire to visit them when the weather warmed up.
“I would suggest waiting. They are even more beautiful in the spring.” Sean told her. “It is one of my favourite places in Portland.”
“You’ll have to give me the tour then. Spring break starts at the end of March. If you are free, then?” Lorelei said,
“I will make time.” Sean told her. Lorelei felt herself blush again, she seemed to be doing that a lot today. A busy man like Sean going out of his way to make time for her, a grad school student.
They arrived at Pittock Mansion, and once again Sean opened the car door for Lorelei. They headed toward the mansion. Lorelei was looking around it awe. It was a beautiful old house. Sean paid for their tickets and began leading her through the house and the surrounding grounds. Lorelei felt a desire to get to know the police captain more, so between his history lessons, Lorelei instigated a game of twenty questions. Sean’s favourite colour was blue, favourite food was French, he could speak French, German, and Russian fluently as well as some Latin, Greek, and Arabic. She also learned he had an appreciation for classical music and the finer things in life. Once they finished up at Pittock Mansion, they headed back into the city to have lunch.
The restaurant wasn’t fine dining, but it was certainly upmarket. Sean once again surprised Lorelei, by helping her into her chair once they arrived at the table.
“Any suggestions?” Lorelei asked Sean, as she looked over the menu. Everything looked amazing, she was having a hard time deciding.
“Their pappardelle mimmo is the best in the city.” He answered. “As is the aragosta.”
“Hmm, so many choices.” Lorelei said, looking over the menu again.
The waitress returned with their drinks and to take their food order. Lorelei was surprised when Sean poured some of the wine he ordered into the wine glass in front of her. She raised an eyebrow, and he shot her a smile. “I won’t tell if you won’t.” he said in a low voice. She returned the smile and reached for the glass.
“Mmm, that is lovely.” Lorelei stated after trying some. “It beats the stuff I tried at the last party I went to. Nasty stuff.” She shook her head, recalling what had been available at a frat party she had attended.
Sean laughed. “Ah yes. I had my fair share of awful booze during my college years.” He told her. “Do you attend many parties?”
Lorelei shook her head. “Not really. I went to a few when I first arrived, but it’s not really my scene.” Lorelei considered herself an introvert, she didn’t mind the odd party but she preferred smaller, more intimate gatherings.
The appetizers arrived and as they ate, Sean asked Lorelei about her future career plans. She outlined career plans, as well as her plans for her Masters project.
Sean raised an eyebrow, looking impressed. “Oh, you’re already making plans for that.”
Lorelei nodded and explained that her work supervisor was also a supervisor for research projects at the college. She provided some more information about her plans for the project when he asked, trying to refrain from nerding out on him. Lorelei was aware that not everyone would be as interested in her plans as she was, but Sean had asked, and he didn’t seem to mind listening.
“I look forward to hearing more about it.” He told Lorelei, who blushed slightly again.
“Sorry, I can nerd out a bit about this kind of stuff.” She said, fiddling with her fork as she glanced down at her plate.
Sean laughed. “No need to apologise. It’s something you are passionate about. Feel free to ‘nerd out’ whenever you wish.”
Lorelei couldn’t stop the smile that spread across her face. Sean was really different from other people. Most people weren’t overly interested in the same things that she was and although Sean was not well versed in the topic, he seemed to want to hear more.
“These cannolis are amazing, but that tiramisu looks great.” Lorelei commented. Sean had insisted on desert and Lorelei had caved. Lorelei was surprised when Sean scooped up a spoonful of his tiramisu and offered it to her. “Are you sure?” she asked and after Sean assured her, he was, she leant forward and took a bite, very aware that the spoon previously been in his mouth. “Wow, that is the best tiramisu I have ever had.” she stated, hoping Sean wouldn’t notice her breathy tone.
“I agree.” Sean said, his gaze intense before it returned to his desert.
Lunch was followed by a visit to a nearby art museum, one Lorelei had already visited but was eager to see again. Sean was interested in what it had been like growing up with Nick and Lorelei shared some stories.
“Despite being older than me, he never seemed to mind hanging out with me.” Lorelei had told Sean. “Never complained about having to take me to school or pick me up. Never complained about having to babysit me when Aunt Marie was at work. I’ve met some people who complain about having to do that, but Nick…he never made me feel like I was an annoyance. He’s always doted on me, treated me as child when others seemed to forget that.”
The deep and meaningful conversation shifted towards funny stories. After one story, Lorelei noticed that Sean seemed to have been distracted by his own thoughts, his face hardening slightly.
“Are you ok?” Lorelei asked him, tentatively placing her hand on his arm.
Sean shook his head slightly, bringing himself out of his head. “Ah yes. Just thinking about my own brother.”
Lorelei was surprised. “Oh, you have a brother as well.”
“Yes. I have a half-brother. We do not get along, not like you and Nick.” He told her.
Lorelei nodded in understanding. “I am lucky.” She acknowledged. “I knew a girl who had an older brother. Similar age difference to me and Nick. He pretty much ignored her existence. It used to bother her a lot.”
They continued through the museum before leaving. Sean navigated his car back towards the campus to drop Lorelei off. He questioned if she would be living in the dorms next year and she confirmed she planned to move off campus. She was expressing her desire to get a pet when Sean pulled up in front of her dorm. They finished up their conversation, and Lorelei glanced outside, feeling disappointed that the day was over. She had a great time; Sean was very knowledgeable and a great conversationalist.
“Well, this looks like my stop.” She looked back at Sean. “Thank you. I had a great day. You are a great tour guide.”
Sean smiled down at her. “You are most welcome. It was a great day. And Portland is a big city. Plenty more to see.” He said, giving her a look. Hoping she was right, Lorelei mentioned he should call her when he had some free time.
There was a moment of silence and Lorelei could feel Sean’s intense gaze on her. She found her own gaze drop down to his lips, feeling the urge to lean across the centre consol and kiss him. Catching herself before she acted, Lorelei spun around to open the door before she did something she could regret.
“Thanks again Sean. I’ll see you later. Have a good night.” Lorelei quickly exited the car and made her way to the front doors of her dorm building. She could feel Sean’s eyes on her and glanced back at him, offering a quick wave before she continued inside.
Lorelei quickly rushed toward her room, returning the greetings of some people she was friendly with. Once inside, she dropped her bag and flopped down on her bed, letting out a long breath. Lorelei had never felt such an intense urge to kiss anyone before. Thankfully she was able to stop herself before doing something she may have regretted. She liked Sean, even if he wasn’t interested in that way she would like to keep him as a friend. And making a move that could be one-sided could ruin that.

The Long Wait -
Chapter 9 - Out and About
Fandom: Grimm
Pairing: Sean Renard/OFC
The Long Wait Masterlist
Authors Note: Sean's POV and we have some more Sean and Lorelei interactions.
The week was moving too slow for Sean’s liking. He was eager to spend quality time with his soulmate, in a more social setting. The only thing that made the long week worthwhile, was that he had gotten his hands on the Coins of Zakynthos. As Sean got ready for bed, he kept the coins close to him. He could understand why many wanted them, the power he felt, like the could take over the world, rule it with Lorelei by his side, as his queen. Where she was meant to be.
He awoke sometime later, to hear faint cheering coming from outside. Sean got up, walking toward the balcony. As he stepped out, the cheering grew louder. A massive crowd was standing in the streets below, chanting his name. Some were waving flag bearing the lionhead from the Coins of Zakynthos. A smirk crossed Sean’s face as he looked at the crowd. Suddenly, he felt a hand come to rest on his arm; looking around he saw her, his soulmate, his queen. Lorelei, looking beautiful and pure in a white dress was looking up him in awe, her face full of love. She took his hand, faced the crowd and raised their arms. The crowd below went wild, pledging their support to their leaders.
Lorelei lowered their arms and began leading Sean inside, walking backwards as she looked at him. Her gaze seductive as she pulled him to her, wrapping her arms around his neck to pull him down for a kiss. Sean wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her even closer as he returned the kiss. Lorelei pulled back, breathing heavily as she undid his robe. Sean pulled away as well, letting the robe drop to the floor as Lorelei ran her hands over his chest and shoulders, moving her hand to the mark that showed they were meant to be. Soulmates. Sean took the opportunity to slip the straps of the dress she was wearing, off her shoulders, allowing it to fall to the floor. Lorelei grabbed his hand, pulling him along as she sat on the bed, crawling back, allowing him to hover over her and claim her as his own.
Sean woke with a start, glancing to side, disappointed to see that Lorelei was not beside him. It had been a dream. A dream of what the future could hold. Him, a King and Lorelei by his side, his beautiful Queen. Sean glanced at his phone, considering calling Lorelei, until he saw the time. No, he would let his soulmate sleep. He would call her later. For now, he would plan. Start taking the steps ensure his dream became a reality. And with the Coins of Zakynthos, it would happen.
Damn it. Sean had lost the coins. He had been assaulted in the parking garage of the precinct and the coins were taken. As frustrated as he was, he knew one part of the dream that would be a reality. His future with Lorelei. His beautiful little soulmate, the light to his darkness. She had called him, no doubt hearing about his attack from her brother. Lorelei had offered to put off their meeting, to give him time to recover from his concussion. Sean had assured her that he was fine. His week may have been awful, but he had been looking forward to this time with Lorelei and was not going to allow a concussion to force him to miss it.
Come Saturday, Sean found himself walking through the halls of Lorelei’s dormitory until he found himself outside her door. He knocked and heard her call out. A second later, she opened the door, her face lighting up when she saw it was him. She looked beautiful, her hair was out, soft waves framing her face. She was wearing black jeans and a form fitting green long-sleeved top.
“Sean, hey! How are you feeling?”
Sean couldn’t stop the smile from crossing his face. “Hello Lorelei, I’m fine. As I told you, it was a mild concussion.”
Lorelei returned the smile. “Please come in, I just have to put my shoes on.” She told him, turning around to find her shoes. “Now, what did I do with them?”
Sean stepped inside her room, closing the door behind him. He glanced around. It was a small studio style room. There was a double bed in one corner of the room, with a small sofa at the end. A long table on the wall opposite it, which appeared to function as both a tv stand and a desk. Beside that was a door, that appeared to lead to a bathroom and beside that was a kitchenette, with a half-size fridge, microwave, stovetop and sink. The room was light and airy, radiating warmth, much like Lorelei. He turned to see Lorelei bending over to pick up her shoes. Sean couldn’t help but allow his gaze to trail over her backside, which were encased in pair of black jeans. He quickly looked away when she straightened up and moved over to the sofa to put her boots on.
“So, what are todays plans?” Lorelei asked him, as she finished tightening up the laces.
Sean moved his gaze from the painting it had landed on, to look at Lorelei again. “Have you had a chance to visit Pittock Mansion yet? He asked.
“No, not yet. I’ve been wanting to.” Lorelei told him, to grab her jacket, where it was sitting over the end of the sofa. Sean quickly grabbed it, holding it open so Lorelei could slide into it. She blushed, her cheeks turning a beautiful shade of pink as she allowed him to help her into her jacket. “Thank you.” She said softly looking at him over her shoulder.
“You’re welcome.” He replied, as Lorelei zipped up the jacket. Sean continued outlining his plans for the day as she Lorelei grabbed a small backpack, a knit hat, and gloves. “I remember you mentioning you liked history. I thought you would appreciate the history behind the mansion.”
Lorelei smiled brightly. “Your thoughts were corrected. As I said, I’ve been wanting to see it.”
The pair headed outside and down to Sean’s car, keeping the conversation light. As they approached Sean’s car, he sped up slightly reaching the passenger door before Lorelei so he could open for her. A brief look of surprise crossed her face before was replaced by a smile as she slid into the car. After closing the door behind her, Sean sat in the driver’s seat, and they headed off.
“Have you lived in Portland long?” Lorelei asked him as they left the college.
Sean glanced at her. “Around sixteen years,” he replied. “I moved here in 1995 when I joined the academy.”
Lorelei nodded. “Wow, it has been a while.” She noted. “The longest I ever lived somewhere was Baltimore. We moved around a lot when I was younger but when I started college, Aunt Marie decided to settle in Baltimore until I finished.” Sean hummed, trying to both listen to Lorelei and navigate the traffic. “Where did you live before Portland?”
Sean let out a breath. “Much like yourself, I moved a lot when I was younger.” He told Lorelei. “I was born in Europe. My mother and I moved to the US when I was twelve.”
“Oh wow, Europe huh?” Lorelei commented. Sean hummed again. “I…” Lorelei trailed off as her phone let out a tone. “Excuse me.” She said, pulling it from her bag. Lorelei glanced at it briefly before returning her phone to her bag.
“Is it important?” Sean asked.
Lorelei shook her head. “Nah, its just Nick.” She told him. “I’ll reply later.”
“Does Nick know you are spending the day with me?” Sean enquired.
“Nope. I think he might get a little weird about me hanging out with his boss.” Lorelei replied.
Sean glanced at her again to see her watching the scenery pass by. They had left the city centre, the buildings becoming far and few between as more greenery emerged. “Do you think its weird?” he asked her.
Lorelei laughed. “No. I mean, you’re not my boss.” She stated.
Sean smiled. “No, I am not.” He agreed.
“Oh, the Japanese Gardens.” She said, seeing the sign for the turnoff. “I’m waiting until it gets warmer before checking those out.”
“I would suggest waiting. They are even more beautiful in the spring.” Sean told her. “It is one of my favourite places in Portland.”
“You’ll have to give me the tour then. Spring break starts at the end of March. If you are free, then?” Lorelei said, throwing another beautiful smile in his direction, one that caused his heart to skip a beat. Sean returned the smile before returning his gaze to the road. Her words filled him with a warm feeling. She was already making plans to spend more time together, months in advance.
“I will make time.” Sean told her, wishing he could reach across the console to hold her hand. He was afraid of scaring her off. He had to take things slowly.
Eventually they arrived at Pittock Mansion. Sean hurried around to again open the car door for Lorelei, who gave him that beautiful smile again. The one that was steadily taking his breath away. Together they walked towards the entrance of the sprawling mansion. Sean paid for their tickets and they began their tour. Sean filled Lorelei in on the history of the property while she admired the history surrounding her. In between the history lesson, Lorelei instigated a game of twenty questions. Sean discovered Lorelei’s favourite colour was green, her favourite food was Italian, she had been involved in musical theatre and martial arts, she could sing and play both the piano and guitar, her guilty pleasures were trashy romance novels and low budget horror movies, and that her favourite flowers were lilies.
After touring the mansion and its ground, Sean suggested they stop for lunch at an Italian restaurant a few blocks from Lorelei’s college. Once they arrived, the hostess led them to a table in the back. After taking their drink orders, the two were left alone to look over the menu. “Any suggestions?” Lorelei asked Sean.
“Their pappardelle mimmo is the best in the city.” He answered. “As is the aragosta.”
“Hmm, so many choices.” Lorelei said, looking over the menu.
By the time their waitress arrived with their drinks, they were ready to order. Appetizers included the arancini and burrata, while Sean ordered the pappardelle mimmo and Lorelei ordered the aragosta. Lorelei raised her eyebrows as Sean poured her a glass of wine. “I won’t tell if you won’t.” he said in a low voice as he shot her a smile. She returned it as she brought the glass to her nose, taking in the scent before she took a sip.
“Mmm, that is lovely.” Lorelei stated. “It beats the stuff I tried at the last party I went to. Nasty stuff.” She shook her head and Sean laughed.
“Ah yes. I had my fair share of awful booze during my college years.” He said. “Do you attend many parties?”
Lorelei shook her head. “Not really. I went to a few when I first arrived, but its not really my scene.”
The appetizers arrived and as they ate, Sean asked Lorelei about her future career plans. “I am hoping to get into research. It somewhat of a passion of mine.” Was her answer. “Although I do love what I am doing at Treeview. I actually have the opportunity to incorporate my work with my Masters research project.”
Sean raised an eyebrow. “Oh, you’re already making plans for that.”
Lorelei nodded. “Gail, my work supervisor, works for the college as well. She acts as supervisor for research projects for the Honours, Masters and the PhD programs.” Lorelei paused to take a bit of her food.
“What are you planning to do?” Sean asked, filling in the silence.
Once Lorelei had swallowed her food she answered, “Gail and I are still hashing it out, but there is a novel intervention that is being published in the literature. Food prescription programs. They typically target those with type 2 diabetes and are of lower socioeconomic status.” She paused again to take a sip of the wine. “The exact intervention can vary, but it can include providing vouchers or access to fresh produce. It aims to decrease obesity and other risk factors associated with non-communicable diseases, such as type 2 diabetes. Diet is a modifiable risk factor that can be targeted. We are exploring whether a food prescription program is something we could do in Portland.”
Sean swallowed his own food. “That sounds impressive.” He told Lorelei, who smiled at him.
“Thanks. I’ve been fascinated by the concept since I learnt about it.” She said. “Most programs are targeting those who already have some kind of diagnosis. I would like to target those who are pre-diabetic or are risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.”
“I hope it is some something you can do in Portland.”
“Yeah, me too. It is also a great way to address food insecurity. We still have some time. I can’t start my project for a couple more years, but Gail thinks we should start planning it now.”
Sean nodded. He didn’t know a lot about research but he had a feeling it involved a lot of planning. “I look forward to hearing more about it.” He told Lorelei, who blushed slightly.
“Sorry, I can nerd out a bit about this kind of stuff.” She said.
Sean laughed. “No need to apologise. It’s something you are passionate about. Feel free to ‘nerd out’ whenever you wish.”
After the appetizers and the main course, they decided to have desert. Lorelei was unsure, but Sean insisted on paying. She eventually gave in, once she saw the cannoli the table near them had ordered.
“These cannolis are amazing, but that tiramisu looks great.” Lorelei commented. Sean scooped up a spoonful and offered it to her. “Are you sure?” she asked and after Sean assured her, he was, she leant forward and took a bite. Sean found himself distracted, watching as her lips slid off the spoon his own lips had touched. “Wow, that is the best tiramisu I have ever had.”
“I agree.” Sean said, loading the spoon again, eager to get as close to kissing his soulmate as he would be able to get for a while. The tiramisu seemed to taste better after the second bite.
Once they finished desert, they decided to visit the nearby art museum to walk the meal off before Sean dropped Lorelei off at home. Lorelei had visited the museum before but expressed an interest in returning.
“And so, Aunt Marie returned home to find Nick tied to a chair in the living room, watching the TV while I was curled up on a bean bag under the kitchen table reading the book she had told me I was too young to read.” Lorelei was laughing at the memory.
Sean was laughing as well. “How old were you?” he asked. “And how old was Nick?”
“I think I was about five and Nick was about sixteen or seventeen.” She answered. “I was really determined to read that book in peace. I’m still surprised I managed to convince Nick to let me tie him up. He never trusted me to do something like that again.”
Sean continued chuckling. “I can’t say I’m surprised.” He voiced, shaking his head.
“In his defence, he didn’t think I could tie knots that well. I think it was the last time he underestimated me though.”
Sean just shook his head again. It was interesting listening to Lorelei speak about her relationship with Nick. Despite their age difference, they appeared to have a very close relationship. Sean couldn’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy. He certainly didn’t have that type of relationship with his own brother. Eric, much like his mother the Queen, despised Sean’s existence.
“Are you ok?” Sean heard Lorelei ask. Sean’s feelings must have been reflected on his face, because Lorelei had turned away from the artwork she was admiring and placed her hand on his arm.
Sean shook his head slightly, bringing himself out of his head. “Ah yes. Just thinking about my own brother.”
Lorelei looked surprised. “Oh, you have a brother as well.”
“Yes. I have a half-brother. We do not get along, not like you and Nick.” He told her, trying to avoid providing anymore information. It could lead to more questions he wasn’t ready to answer yet.
Lorelei nodded in understanding. “I am lucky.” She acknowledged. “I knew a girl who had an older brother. Similar age difference to me and Nick. He pretty much ignored her existence. It used to bother her a lot.”
Again, Sean nodded. Lorelei seemed to realise there was a need for change in conversation. The conversation turned towards the artwork. The rest of their visit was filled with light conversation. It was almost closing time when they finally left, and Sean drove Lorelei back to campus.
“I do like living on campus, but I think next year I might try living off campus. More freedom. I really want to get a pet, and you can’t have pets in the dorms.” Lorelei explained, when Sean asked her if she would continue living in the dorms the following year.
“What type of pet were you looking at?”
“I would love to get a dog, but I am so busy right now, I just wouldn’t be able to give it the attention it would need. So, I will probably start with a cat.” Lorelei answered, as Sean parked in front of her dorm building.
“Cats are pretty self-sufficient from what I’ve heard.” He said, turning off the ignition.
Lorelei smiled. “Yeah, that’s what appeals about them.” She told him, before shrugging. “But that won’t be until the summer when I move out of the dorms.” Lorelei glanced toward the front of the building. “Well, this looks like my stop.” She looked back at Sean. “Thank you. I had a great day. You are a great tour guide.”
Sean smiled down at her, feeling disappointed that their time together was coming to an end. “You are most welcome. It was a great day. And, Portland is a big city. Plenty more to see.” He said, hoping she would pick up the meaning behind his words.
She seemed to have read between the lines. “Well, let me know when you are available next. You have my number.”
Sean nodded. There was a moment of silence, and Sean could have sworn he saw Lorelei’s eyes drift to his lips. Before he could do anything, Lorelei shift to open the door. “Thanks again Sean. I’ll see you later. Have a good night.”
And with that, she was gone, walking towards the entrance of the building. She paused, glancing over her shoulder towards Sean. She gave him a wave before finally entering the building. Sean watched the entrance for a moment, before starting the ignition and pulling out. Kicking himself for not making a move.

The Long Wait -
Chapter 6 - Meeting Again
Fandom: Grimm
Pairing: Sean Renard/OFC
The Long Wait Masterlist
It didn’t take Sean long after meeting his soulmate to have people start looking into her. He wanted to know everything about her, including if there were any signs that she was a Grimm. Not long after meeting her, he was sitting at home looking over the report provided to him.
“Just turned 18, graduated summa cum laude from Johns Hopkins in Public Health with Honours, valedictorian, GPA of 5.” Sean murmured to himself. He was impressed. His soulmate was a genius, starting college at 13 years old. He saw that she had started grad school and was working at a local hospital part time. The report provided some insight into Lorelei Burkhardt; however, his people were unable to determine is she was a Grimm.
It didn’t matter to Sean; however, it could make things complicated. There could be benefits to having a Grimm as soulmate. He was also concerned about his family finding out about her. Eric would relish the opportunity to take her from him. And not just because she was Sean’s. Her potential status as a Grimm, her intelligence and beauty would be an asset to the royals.
Sean had people watching her, learning her routine, trying to find some way to speak with her, to get to know her. It was difficult. She lived on campus, spending most of her time either there or at work. Every weekend, she had lunch or dinner with Nick and Juliette. And, after a few weeks had seemed to have made friends with a blutbad around Nick’s age, who she met up with weekly as well. Apparently, Nick interacted with the blutbad as well. Sean found that interesting. A blutbad and Grimm. From what he found out about the blutbad, Monroe, he seemed to avoid interacting with other blutbaden and was ‘reformed’. Was this Monroe helping Nick?
As time passed, Sean felt irritated that he was unable to interact with his soulmate. There did not to seem to be a way to insert himself into her life. He hadn’t even had a chance to see her. It wasn’t until an escaped criminal, Oleg Stark, arrived in Portland, that Sean had a reason to see Lorelei. He had received a call that Nick was in the hospital, assaulted by Stark. Sean arrived at the hospital to find Lorelei and Nick’s girlfriend Juliette, waiting for word on Nick’s condition.
After the doctor updated them, Sean advised the women that he would have units posted to protect them, even posting officers at Lorelei’s dorm. She seemed surprised when he mentioned that.
“You think this guy will show up at my dorm.” Lorelei asked, looking both concerned and incredulous.
“It is a possibility. Better to be safe than sorry.” Sean told her.
Lorelei nodded, as Juliette put her arm around her shoulder. “Why don’t you stay with me tonight? More units out looking for this guy.”
Lorelei gave her a brief squeeze. “If you don’t mind.”
Juliette gave her a watery smile. “Of course not, you’re family.”
Lorelei returning her smile. “I can have the escort stop at your dorm to get anything you need.” Sean told her, gazing down at his soulmate.
“That’d be great.” Lorelei answered, looking relieved.
Sean had finished conversing with the officer on guard; stalling as he tried to come up with a reason to speak with Lorelei, when he spotted her walking past hm. Without thinking, he reached out and grabbed her upper arm, trying not to shudder when he once again felt a jolt of electricity when they came into contact. Lorelei stopped and looked up at him.
“Leaving already?” he asked, feeling concerned that she was leaving without an escort.
Lorelei shook her head. “No, just heading to the bathroom.” She replied. Sean nodded and removed his hand. “You mentioned you knew the guy who did this. Who is he?”
Sean looked at her suspiciously. “Why? You’re not planning to go after him, are you?”
Lorelei gave a short laugh. “No. I’m young, but I’m not stupid. I was just curious.” She started walking again, while Sean walked alongside her.
“He’s someone Hank put away.” Sean informed her. “He escaped from prison and seems to be targeting those who helped put him away. We have Hank in protective custody. I think he attacked Nick to try and get to Hank.”
Lorelei let out a breath. “Wow. You know, I don’t know Hank well, but I have a feeling he is going to take Nick’s attack personally.”
Sean nodded. “I agree. I’ll have to have a chat with him.” They reached where the bathrooms were. “I’ll leave you here.” He said. “Lorelei, this man is very dangerous. He has already killed three people since he arrived. Be vigilant.”
“I will.”
Sean nodded again. “Here is my business card, if you need anything, anything. Call me.” Lorelei took the card and thanked him. He paused for a moment, wanting to say more, although decided against it. She didn’t know she was his soulmate. As far as she was concerned, he was simply her brother’s boss. “Goodnight Lorelei.”
“Goodnight Captain. And thank you.”
He gave her a small smile, walking off before he did something he might regret.
Time moved on. Sean continued looking for an opportunity to interact with Lorelei and some indication whether she was a Grimm. He was starting to believe she was, primarily due to her and her brother’s close relationship with the blutbad. Additionally, he was receiving pressure to control Nick, with the Reapers advising him that things were out of balance. They had threatened that if Renard did not get the Grimm in line, they would dispose of him. Sean did not appreciate being threatened in his own city. However, the Reapers words reinforced that Nick and Lorelei were working with the blutbad. He was becoming more curious to understand why a wesen would team up with Grimms.
It was the new year when Sean finally had the opportunity to see and speak with Lorelei again. The college had requested someone in the police department give a talk to criminology and law students. Sean was not usually a fan of giving such talks, but when he realised it would be the college Lorelei attended, he decided to attend. And it did end up paying off, he stopped into a café on campus when he saw Lorelei sitting at a table alone, working on her laptop. Due to the cold weather, she was bundled up in a black jacket, with a knit hat perched on her head, covering her dark hair. After ordering his coffee, he approached her.
“Oh, hello Captain Renard.” She said, removing her headphones. “Fancy meeting you here.”
Sean smiled. “Please, call me Sean.” He told her. “I was giving a talk to criminology students with interests in joining the police force.”
Lorelei nodded. “Ah yes, we get those types of visits from health professionals as well.” She said. “Do you want to join me?”
“If you don’t mind.” Sean said, taking the seat opposite her. “You’re in grad school studying public health, correct?”
“That is correct.” She answered, closing her laptop. “I did my undergrad at Johns Hopkins and decided to move out here for grad school.”
“To be closer to your brother?”
Lorelei answered affirmatively. “Plus, Aunt Marie was sick and had plans to come out here, so I decided to follow.”
Sean felt a twinge of guilt, knowing he played a role in the premature demise of her aunt. “How are you handling everything? The move, new city, new school.” He enquired.
Lorelei smiled, taking a sip of her coffee. “It has certainly been an adjustment, but I am really liking Portland. I’ve been trying to do some touristy things, like visiting landmarks, museums and art galleries. I am also enjoying campus life and, of course, being closer to Nick. We haven’t lived in the same area in almost a decade.”
Sean nodded, finding himself relaxing at the sound of voice and being entranced by her little mannerisms, such as biting her lip and tucking her hair behind her ear. He noted that she was incredibly well spoken for someone her age. When he first realised his soulmate would be much younger than him, he was worried whether they would have anything in common. However, the more he found out about Lorelei, the more he came to realise the ways they could be a perfect match.
“And what do you do when you aren’t studying?” Sean asked, wanting to learn more.
“Oh, uh, lots of things. Hanging out with friends, listening to different types of music, learning about history, and learning new languages” She noted. “I’ve also gotten back into gymnastics. I’ve been doing it on and off since I was a kid.”
Sean nodded. “You mentioned languages, are you learning any at the moment?”
“Yes, I am learning Latin at the moment. I know, it’s a dead language but it has influenced a lot of modern languages and…” she was cut off when her phone went off. “Sorry, that’s my alarm. I need to get to my next class.”
Sean was disappointed their time together was coming to an end. “Ah, of course. I should be getting back to the station.”
Lorelei started packing up her items. “It was great chatting.” She told him.
Sean smiled. “I agree. And if you were wanting a tour guide, you have my number.” He told her.
She looked at him, a little surprised. “Oh, I wouldn’t want to both you.”
“You wouldn’t be a bother, I am offering.” He insisted.
Lorelei stood up, throwing her backpack over her shoulder. “Well, if your offering, I may take you up on it. I’ll let you know.” She glanced at her watch. “Oh crap, I’m late. Good seeing you, Sean.”
And with that, she was gone. Sean watched her dash out the door with a small smile on his face. It certainly was his lucky day.

The Long Wait (Season 2) Chapter 11 Secrets Revealed
Fandom: Grimm
Pairing: Sean Renard/OFC
The Long Wait Masterlist
A/N: When an old acquaintance comes to town, Sean’s secrets start to reveal themselves. How will Lorelei react?
The rest of the year passed quickly. Lorelei was thankful Nick didn’t really need her help with wesen related cases. As the new year begun, Lorelei started feeling under the weather. She didn’t get sick very often, but when she did, she got hit hard. It didn’t manifest into a cold or the flu. Lorelei just put it down to burnout. She was busy trying to juggle everything. School, work, pets, friends, and family. And of course, spending time with her soulmate. Her relationship with Sean was going well. They were still keeping it a secret. Lorelei knew that she had to tell Nick before she told everyone else. However, things were not going to well with Juliette. Monroe had seen Juliette kissing a mysterious man in the spice shop. Apparently, they had come in for help, dealing with obsessive feelings. Monroe thought it may have something to do with Adalind’s spell. They were surprised when the ex-hexenbiest herself returned to Portland. She had made a visit to Hank before he ended up in the hospital. Someone had entered his home and beaten him. Nick eventually arrested Adalind, under suspicion of killing her mother. It seemed she was in town to get her hands on the key.
For the first time in a few months, Lorelei found herself helping her brother and Monroe out. Together they took down four hunjagers from the Verrat. Nick sent Lorelei and Monroe off with the murder weapons and some evidence. He later joined Monroe and Lorelei at Monroe’s house, bag in tow. Monroe offered to let Nick stay with him, for as long as he needed. He also was able to show them who had come into the spice shop with Juliette. The mystery man. Monroe showed them something he had recorded off the news. Lorelei frowned as she heard Sean’s voice come from the TV. Monroe stepped away from the TV and looked at them. Lorelei glanced at Nick, who was staring at the TV. “You know him, don’t you?” Monroe asked him.
Lorelei answered for him. “Yeah, that’s his boss. Captain Renard.” Lorelei wasn’t sure what to feel. This was the guy Monroe saw Juliette with. God, she felt sick.
“Your girlfriend and your boss?” Monroe asked, turning the TV. “That’s about as gnarly as it gets. Hey, wait a minute, where do you think you’re going.” Nick had started stalking towards the door. Monroe ran to stop him. “You’re not going where I think you’re going. Because if it were me, I would be going there, but you can’t.” Nick tried moving past him. “Nick, hold on. This is one of those pause, take a deep breath situations. Where you can’t be going off half full, or any other degree of cocked.”
“Monroe, move out of the way.”
“Nick.” Monroe pleaded.
“Now, please.” Nick continued trying to get to the door and Monroe kept trying to stop him. Eventually, Nick got out the door. Thankfully, his phone rang, and he was called into work. Unfortunately, it was for the quadruple homicide they had committed.
Nick headed off and Monroe came back in, looking at Lorelei in shock. “This is not going to end well.”
Lorelei shook her head. “No. It’s not.” She said faintly.
Lorelei did not sleep at all that night. She had left Monroe’s not long after Nick did, still in shock at finding out her boyfriend was sneaking around with her brother’s girlfriend. The only thing that made her feel better, was knowing that Adalind’s spell may have something to do with it. Nick and Monroe had gone to the spice shop, with Monroe finally figuring out what spell was used. They figured that Sean had been the one to wake Juliette. Was he wesen? Where did he fit into all of this? Thankfully, Rosalee would be returning. Lorelei was going to meet them at the spice shop.
Lorelei was cooking up some pancakes, figuring she needed something filling to get through the day. She had opted to take the day off. She was in no state to focus on school or work. Her phone rang as she was finishing up the batch. It was the number for the health clinic on campus. Lorelei had stopped in to see them a couple of days ago. They had done a blood test and would call her with the results. It was suggested that Lorelei may have strep or the flu. However, that was not the case. “Fuck.” Lorelei said, after the hung up the phone. “Fuck, fuck, fuck!”
A knock on the door interrupted Lorelei’s breakdown. As Lorelei looked through the peephole, she was surprised. “I thought you were in jail.” Lorelei commented once she had opened the door.
“They had nothing, so I was let go.”
“What are you doing here?”
“I thought we should chat. You know, woman to woman.”
“You didn’t get enough of that with Juliette yesterday.” Lorelei said, wandering back towards the kitchen. Adalind Schade shut the door behind her before coming to stand on the opposite side of the kitchen island. “And, I don’t have the key.”
“Oh, I’m not here about that.” Adalind said. “But it would make things so much easier if you and your brother would just hand it over.”
Lorelei grabbed a plate out of the cupboard and place a couple of pancakes on it. “Pancakes?” She asked.
Adalind looked at her in surprise. “What?”
“You interrupted my breakfast. And its rude to eat in front of someone else. So, do you want pancakes?”
“Ah…sure. I could eat.” Adalind said, still looking surprised. She sat down at the island, as Lorelei slid the plate across to her.
“I also didn’t kill your mother. If that was your next question.” Lorelei told her, grabbing an extra knife and fork, placing them in front of the ex-hexenbiest and pain in their ass.
“That was my next question. It was Nick. Wasn’t it?” Adalind asked, reaching for the butter.
Lorelei shook her head. “Nope. Not him either.”
Adalind stared at her. “Then who was it?”
Lorelei was silent for a moment, debating whether to tell her. “It was my mother.”
“I thought your mother was dead.” Adalind asked, confusion clouding her face as she finished with the butter.
Lorelei took it from her. “So did we. But apparently not.”
“That must have been…shocking.” Adalind said slowly, adding syrup. “Why did she kill my mother?”
Lorelei shrugged. “I don’t know exactly what went down. She went over there to get answers about you. Things got out of hand…and, well, you know how it ended.”
“Where is your mother?”
Lorelei shrugged again, adding syrup to her own pancakes. “No idea. She left town.”
“Well, thanks for telling me.” Adalind said, looking surprised that Lorelei had been so forthcoming with information. She took a bite of her pancakes. “Wow, these are really good. Best I’ve ever had.”
“Thanks. So, you aren’t here for the pancakes. Why did you come here? I have a feeling it was for more than the key and your mother.”
Adalind nodded, swallowing her mouthful before she continued. “Let’s say I am here to…shine some light on why I did some of the things I did. And it has the added benefit of…screwing over a couple of people.”
Lorelei raised an eyebrow. “You going to give up who you were working for?” She asked.
“Mmhm. And you are going to be very shocked. Because, you know them. Quite personally, from what I’ve heard.”
“Is it the Royal that is supposed to be in Portland?” Lorelei was starting to get an idea of where this was going. She really wasn’t sure she wanted to know, but she had to know.
“It is. And I get the feeling you are starting to work it out.”
Lorelei sighed. “I think so. I need to hear you say it.”
“It’s Sean Renard.” Adalind told her. “He is the one who had me, and others attack your aunt. He was the one who had me put the spell on Hank, to force Nick into giving up the key. If it wasn’t for Sean, I never would have messed with the Grimms.”
Lorelei felt sick. She was struggling to believe it. Her soulmate had been plotting against them since the beginning. Is that why he started getting close to her? To get to the key, to use her for god knows what else? “So, Sean’s a Royal? And he’s the one who had Aunt Marie killed?”
Adalind nodded. “Yes. Sean Renard is the bastard son of King Frederick Renard, of the House of Kronenberg. His mother is also a hexenbiest.”
Lorelei looked at her. “Sean’s a hexenbiest as well?”
Adalind shook her head. “Males are called zauberbiests. But yes, Sean is half. A hybrid.” Lorelei looked down at her plate. She had completely lost her appetite. She did not know Sean at all. “If it makes you feel any better, I believe that Sean genuinely cares for you. He always made it clear I was to stay away from you.”
Lorelei glanced back up at her. “Not really, but uh, thanks for trying.” Lorelei sighed, running her hands through her hair. “My soulmate is a two-faced bastard…literally.”
Adalind’s eyebrows shot up. “You’re his soulmate?” She asked, looking shocked. “Wow…I never stood chance.” She said quietly. Lorelei looked at her questioningly. “Um, this is awkward, but the reason I did everything for him was because I was in love with him. I thought he loved me too, but he was just using me. Tossed me to the side when I was no longer useful.”
Lorelei couldn’t help but feel some empathy for the other woman. “What an asshole.” Lorelei commented.
“Yeah.” Adalind agreed. She looked at Lorelei. “What are you going to do?”
Lorelei shrugged. “I don’t know. I could break up with him, but it’s not that simple. Things just got a lot more complicated.”
“What? He knock you up?” Adalind joked. Lorelei let out a sigh and glanced down. “Oh…oh! Uh, that certainly does make things more complicated. Wow.”
Lorelei nodded. “Yeah. I actually just found out.” She ran her hands through her hair again. “Look, I know you could probably have some fun with this information. But could you, not tell anyone. I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.”
Adalind nodded. “Yeah. I mean, I am an evil bitch. But I do have a heart. Plus, you’ve been nice to me. Even after everything I’ve done.”
“Thanks.” Lorelei said faintly. She glanced at her watch. “Look, I have to head out soon.”
“Yeah, I should head off as well. Thanks for the pancakes.” Adalind said, getting up and moving toward the door. She paused and turned to face Lorelei. “Be careful who you tell, about carrying Sean’s baby. The Royals are very interested in you and if they find out a Grimm is carrying a child with Royal blood…they are going to want both of you.”
“The Royals are interested in me?”
Adalind nodded. “They were asking a lot of questions about you specifically. I was told not to touch you. That they had plans for you.”
“Uh, thanks for the heads up.”
“Good luck Little Grimm. You’re going to need it.”
Lorelei arrived at the spice shop just after Rosalee, Nick, and Monroe had. “Rosalee, welcome back.” Lorelei said, hugging the fuschbau tightly.
“It’s good to be back.” Rosalee said, smiling down at her. She pulled away and moved onto business. “Now, the hexenbiest who came into the shop was Adalind’s mother, and she told your mom there was a Royal here in Portland. Then he must be the one she made the purification process for.”
“Ergo and hence, your captain is the Royal here in Portland.” Monroe said.
“The captain?” Nick asked, not looking as though he quite believed it.
“This purification process, which by the way is an excruciating ordeal, it would explain why he and Juliette are so drawn to each other Nick.”
“That would be the part this spell that nobody talked about.” Monroe added.
“Ok, so how do we stop this?” Nick asked, coming to lean against the counter.
“That’s what we have to find out here, and fast, because if this spell is allowed to progress much further, one of them is going to kill the other.” Rosalee advised them.
“Does anything not end in death?” Nick asked, sounding exasperated. Monroe and Rosalee confirmed that, yeah, most things could end in death. Nick sighed. “Ok, what am I looking for?”
“Anything with these ingredients.” Rosalee told them, placing the list in front of him.
The four of them started looking through Rosalee’s books, while Lorelei contemplated telling them about Adalind’s visit. She supposed she didn’t have to tell them everything. “Uh, guys. I gotta tell you something.”
They all looked at her. “What?” Nick asked.
Lorelei sighed. “I got a visit from Adalind this morning.”
“What! Why didn’t you say anything? Did she do anything to you?”
Lorelei shook her head. “No. But she did confirm that Renard is a Royal. And that he is half-wesen. A zauberbiest.”
“That explains the purification process.” Rosalee commented.
“Did you say half-wesen?”
“Renard is a wesen as well?”
“Yes, and yes.” Lorelei said to Nick and Monroe. “And that he is the one who had Aunt Marie killed and had Adalind spell Hank to get the key from us.”
“That…that…bastard.” Nick said.
“Yeah, he is a literal two-faced bastard.” Lorelei said dryly, trying to keep herself emotionally distant. She wasn’t allowing herself to think of Sean as anything other than the Royal who was plotting against them. It was the only way she was going to get through the day.
“Unbelievable.”
They continued looking through the books, trying to find something. A few hours passed, before Monroe found something. At first, he was a little unsure, but Rosalee confirmed it was the right one.
“Ok. It says there is a cure, possibly.” Rosalee said, taking the book from Monroe. “But…oh, it’s not easy.”
“Well, why?” Lorelei asked.
Rosalee looked up. “Cause it involves getting Juliette and your captain to take it, together.”
“I’ll make that happen.”
“Oh boy.” Rosalee said, as she continued looking at the book. “Oh boy.”
“Oh boy what?” Monroe asked, as Rosalee stepped back.
“It says we need the instrument of original infection.” Rosalee answered.
“Ok, the instrument of original infection would’ve been the cats’ claws.” Nick said.
“Exactly.” Rosalee said, although she was looking a little panicked.
Nick laughed. “Well, let’s get the cat. “He said, smiling at Rosalee.
Rosalee and Monroe exchanged a look, and the smile dropped from Nick’s face. “What happened to it?” And that is when Nick and Lorelei found out what had happened to the cat. “So, what do we do now?”
Rosalee put the book down in front of Monroe and pointed to the page. “This.” She said to Monroe.
He picked up the book, giving Rosalee a strange look as looked at it. A look of both recognition and some horror crossed Monroe’s face. He looked up at Nick. “Oh dude.”
They had just finished the potion for the purification process when Hank called to let Nick know that Renard had been hanging around Nick’s desk. Nick had raced out of the spice shop, stating Renard had taken something of his. Surely Nick hadn’t been stupid enough to leave the key in his desk, Lorelei thought to herself. And, as Lorelei later found out, her brother was stupid enough. Renard got his hands on the key. However, he ended up calling Nick to meet up.
A couple of hours later, Nick and Renard showed up, with Juliette. Renard looked at Lorelei, trying to catch her eye. She kept her gaze down, becoming very interested in a burn mark on the table. Rosalee whipped up another batch of the purification potion and handed it to Nick, who downed it. After he finished it, everyone watched carefully, waiting to see what happened. “That was it?” Nick asked.
“No.” Renard answered, and at that moment Nick doubled over in pain. “That’s it.”
“Nick!” Juliette cried, as Nick staggered over, falling to the ground. “This is crazy, what have you done?” She ran to Nick’s side, checking his pulse. “We have to do something.”
Renard, Rosalee, Monroe and Lorelei exchanged glances. They knew this was just the beginning for Nick. They just had to wait. Slowly, Nick’s skin started turning red as his breathing became laboured. Juliette was becoming more panicked.
“It’s part of the process he has to go through.” Rosalee told her.
“What process? I don’t understand any of this.”
“Juliette, he’s gonna be ok.” Monroe assured her.
“He doesn’t look ok. We have to call 911.”
Lorelei was now sitting with Nick’s head in her lap, gently holding a damp cloth to his forehead. “They can’t help him.” Renard told Juliette.
Juliette looked up at him, before looking around at the rest of them. “This is crazy. You’re all crazy.”
“It’s the only way to stop what’s going on between you and him.” Monroe said, referring to Renard. Lorelei still couldn’t bring herself to look at him. “You didn’t explain to her what we have to do here?”
“How can I explain something I don’t fully understand?”
Juliette stood up. “I’m calling an ambulance Monroe.”
“No, no, you can’t do that Juliette.” Lorelei said, grabbing her arm. “Listen, Nick’s my brother. The only family I have left.” She threw a dirty look in Renard’s direction, and he looked away, avoiding her gaze. He looked almost guilty. “You know I would never do anything to hurt him.”
Monroe stepped in. “He asked you here for a reason. Nick is doing this, for you.”
“I don’t understand why he has to go through this for me.”
“I know. A lot of this we’re never gonna be able to fully explain.” Monroe told her.
“Tell me the part you can explain.”
Monroe contemplated for a moment. “Remember that cat that scratched….”
“Oh my god, I don’t want to hear anything about the cat.” Juliette said, walking away from them. “If anyone else tries to blame all of this on the cat, my head is going to explode.”
While Monroe tried to calm Juliette down, Renard knelt beside Nick. “You know what he’s going through.” Rosalee stated.
“Yeah.”
“How long did it take to come out of it?”
“I don’t know. I didn’t even know where I was until I woke up.”
“You know how you have feelings for Captain Renard and can’t explain where they came from.” Monroe was explaining to Juliette. “Like you just woke up one day and you were crazy about someone you barley knew. Is that about right?”
“Yeah.”
“There are a lot of things in the human body, hormonal and chemical, that can trigger these inexplicable, emotional nuclear meltdowns. And what we’re dealing with is sort of a pheromone gone wild…fiasco. All we’re attempting to do is to reverse the pheromonal behaviour before something even worse happens.”
Nick’s face had returned to its normal colour and he started coughing. “Ok, he’s coming out of it.” Rosalee told them.
“Nick.” Lorelei said, removing the cloth from his forehead.
“Nick, can you hear us?” Rosalee asked, as Juliette joined them. Nick kept coughing and started to sit up, Lorelei and Rosalee helping him. “Don’t get up too fast.”
“Thirsty.” He said, still coughing a little. Juliette and Rosalee helped Nick stand up. Renard reached to help Lorelei up, but she smacked his hand away. She didn’t miss the hurt look that crossed his face, however for her own state of mind, she didn’t dwell on it.
They got Nick seated, as Monroe handed him a glass of water. “Ok, so that’s it.” She noticed the look on Rosalee’s face. “What?”
“There is one more thing the two of you have to do. Come with me.” Rosalee gestured for Juliette and Renard to follow her.
Nick tried to follow them. But Monroe stopped him. “And there is one more thing you need to do.”
The final stage involved Nick’s blood, although it was decided that Juliette and Renard didn’t need to know that part. Rosalee handed over the potion to them. “This better work.” Renard said, before drinking it.
“Now what?” Juliette asked.
“Hopefully, this will eradicate the intense desire you two have for one another and put you back in a more normal and even emotional state. But we’ll have to wait and see.”
“Well, I’m not waiting here. I’m going home. Alone.” Juliette said, before leaving.
The remaining five looked at each other. “Well, I think the alone was a step in the right direction.” Monroe commented, trying to be optimistic.
Nick got up and went to follow her. “I better follow and make sure that she stays, alone.” He directed towards Renard before leaving.
“And if this doesn’t work?”
“I wish I knew.” Rosalee admitted.
A/N: So, Sean’s secrets and deception have come to light. What will that mean for our favourite couple? What do you think will happen? And do you think the pregnancy is a too much? Should I have waited? If you want to be added to the taglist, comment below.

The Long Wait Chapter 15
Green is Not Your Colour (Sean's POV)
Fandom: Grimm
Pairing: Sean Renard/OFC
The Long Wait Masterlist
A/N: Another 'date' with Sean and Lorelei, the green-eyed monster rears it head, and a cameo from Adalind.
Sean Renard was frustrated. He was starting to feel the pressure to get the key off Burkhardt and the Coins of Zakynthos as well. He did not appreciate being told what to do in his own city. Sean had a plan; he just needed some more time. Griffin had been doused with the potion Adalind made and they had confirmed it worked. If Griffin threatening the young man, he’d seen with Adalind was any indication. Once Burkhardt found out the danger his partner was in, he would hand the key over immediately. Sean slipped into Adalind’s apartment to discuss the next steps of the plan. There were times he despised dealing with the beautiful hexenbiest. It was no secret that she was in love with him; he saw her love for him as a weakness. Although it had its perks, she would do anything for him. He pitied her, really, however he had no qualms about using her feelings to manipulate her.
He heard the shower running in the bathroom. When Adalind sensed someone in the apartment, she went looking around. Sean used the opportunity to slip into the bathroom. When she returned to the bathroom, he stepped out from behind the door.
Adalind gasped. “You scared me.”
Sean smirked. “That’s a compliment coming from you.”
“What are you doing here?” she asked, walking passed him, back into the bathroom.
“It appears Detective Griffin has been taking favour with your cookies.” He noted.
“He’s left a dozen voicemail messages as of this morning.” Adalind told him, coming to stand in front of the mirror. “If you call that a response.”
Sean leaned against the counter beside her. “And he threatened your visitor last night too.”
“I wish he’d done more than threatened him.” She said, before looking at Sean. “Do you realise Peter suggested that we sleep together again to ensure our authenticity? He’s lucky I let him leave in one piece.”
Sean leaned in even closer, his voice lowering. “The next time Griffin calls, I want you to answer.” He said, brushing his nose against her hair. Sean felt her lips brush against his shoulder. “The next time Griffin calls, I want you to answer. It’s time to move this up a notch.”
Adalind pulled away, brushing her hair behind her ear. “I hope you realise how dangerous this is. For me.” She moved her face closer to his, staring at his lips.
“You can handle it.” He told her.
Adalind smirked. “Let’s hope so.”
Sean moved his face closer again, his lips close to her ear. “Just be who you aren’t.”
Adalind turned to kiss him, but Sean pulled away. Before meeting his soulmate, he may have indulged Adalind. However, he no longer felt the urge. He stood up and started walking away.
“I’ve heard you’ve been getting close with the Grimm’s baby sister. I’m surprised you haven’t the seduced the key off her yet.” Adalind said, causing Sean to freeze in his tracks. He was surprised to hear that someone had noticed his interactions with the youngest Burkhardt. They hadn’t spent much time together, but clearly it had caught someone’s attention.
“I have other plans for the youngest Burkhardt. You stay away from her Adalind. “He said, trying to keep his face and tone neutral.
“Isn’t she a little young for you Sean?” Adalind asked teasingly.
“Green is not your colour.” Sean told her. “And I assure you, my business with Lorelei Burkhardt is purely business. She could be a great asset.”
And with that, he left before he risked giving anymore away. Hopefully that would keep Adalind away from Lorelei. He had no doubt the hexenbiest would hurt Lorelei if she saw her as a love rival. He felt sick referring to Lorelei as an asset. Although it was true certain groups would find her intelligence useful, Sean wanted all of her. She was his. And he would make sure that no one else laid a hand on her.
Sean was still upset that he had to miss a planned meet up with Lorelei and after his interaction with Adalind, he was determined to see her again. One Saturday he found himself again, walking the halls of Lorelei’s dorm to her front door to pick her up. They had made plans to visit the Japanese Gardens and Sean had made sure everyone at work knew not to call him on his day off. Sean had been debating with himself whether or not he should tell Lorelei they were soulmates. He had initially decided to wait; her age, his role in her aunt’s death, and his current plans to get the key from Nick had played a role in his decision to wait. However, he was getting impatient. What if some young man swept her off her feet when he wasn’t looking? Sean knew that even if that did happen, it probably wouldn’t last. He was her soulmate. They were meant to be together. However, he didn’t want to put Lorelei in the position where she would have to break up with some hypothetical guy. Not to mention, Sean felt jealousy bubble up whenever he thought of another man touching Lorelei.
Sean reached Lorelei’s door and knocked, waiting impatiently to see his soulmate. It had been a couple of weeks since he had last seen her. The door suddenly opened, and Sean was surprised to see it was not Lorelei answering the door, but another woman, around Lorelei’s age.
“Hi, you must be Sean.” The woman said, smiling up at him.
“Ah yes. And you are?” he asked, seeing Lorelei standing behind the woman.
“Oh, I’m Katie. And I was just leaving.” She said before turning to Lorelei. “Have fun. I’ll talk to you later.”
This Katie gave Lorelei a quick kiss on the cheek. Sean moved to the side as she slipped out the door and headed down the hallway. He glanced at Lorelei and saw she was touching her cheek, a blush growing on her cheeks.
“Lorelei?”
Lorelei shook her head slightly, obviously coming out of some sort of a daze. “Hey Sean. Sorry, I’m ready to go.” She quickly grabbed her jacket and bag, closing the door behind her as she exited her room.
“New friend?” Sean asked, realising he hadn’t considered the possibility that anyone other than a man could be competition.
Lorelei smiled, as they made their way out of the building. “Ah, kind of.” She said, sound evasive. Sean raised an eyebrow, which she saw. “Um…we’re kinda more than friends. It’s all very new.” She laughed awkwardly.
Sean nodded, keeping his expression neutral. “I didn’t realise you swung that way.” He stated plainly.
Lorelei shrugged. “I swing every way. What’s in someone’s pants doesn’t affect whether I am attracted to them.”
Sean nodded again, trying to avoid allowing his jealousy to show. He wasn’t sure how he truly felt, but jealousy was definitely one feeling. They reached the car and Sean opened the door, allowing Lorelei to slide in before moving to get in on his own side.
“So, how did you meet Katie?” he asked, curious about the girl who had sparked an interest in his soulmate.
“She works at the café on campus. We’ve kinda been flirting for months, and a couple of weeks ago she wrote her number of my order. I called her and we’ve been talking ever since. She came over last night to watch movies and we fell asleep.”
This Katie had slept in the same bed as his soulmate. Sean pursed his lips together, as jealousy flooded through him. “And is this Katie as student as well?” He asked tightly, hoping Lorelei wouldn’t notice his change in attitude.
“Yeah. She is a sophomore who is studying architecture. She likes building things.” Lorelei chuckled to herself, no doubt at some inside joke he wasn’t aware of.
Sean nodded, using the excuse he had to focus on the road to avoid answering. “Oh, I read that book you suggested.” She said.
“Hmmm. What did you think?”
“I liked it. It was a little heavy, but I could see the point the author was trying to make.”
The conversation shifted from Katie, which Sean was grateful for. He wasn’t sure he would be able to hide his jealousy if they stuck with that particular topic. They arrived at the Gardens quickly. Sean opened the door for Lorelei and held out his arm for her to take. She looked surprised but accepted it. After purchasing their tickets, they began their trek through the gardens.
“It’s so beautiful here. I can see why it’s your favourite place in Portland.” Lorelei sighed, looking around. “I love Japanese gardens, but the closest one to Baltimore was almost an hour away. It’s nice to be so close.”
“It is beautiful.” Sean agreed, although he was looking at Lorelei instead of the surrounding scenery. “I don’t make it out as often as I would like.” He noted. “But when I do, it’s worth the wait.”
Lorelei smiled up at him before pausing to look at a sign. “I think I should brush up on my Japanese.” She commented.
“I didn’t know you also spoke Japanese.” Sean said.
“Eh, a little bit. I got distracted with German.” Lorelei told him. “But now that I am getting the hang of Latin, I might go back to Japanese.”
Sean chuckled. “You’re already getting the hang of Latin?”
Lorelei nodded. “Yeah, I tend to pick up languages pretty quick.” She admitted.
They continued through the gardens. Sean was happy that Lorelei kept returning to take his arm whenever she moved away. He was happy she felt comfortable enough with him to do so. He enjoyed being so close to her. Sean still felt that jolt of electricity whenever the touched and he continued to wonder whether Lorelei felt it as well. She must, although like Sean she seemed to be good at covering her reaction to it.
Eventually they made their way to the onsite café, just in time for their reservation. Once they were seated and had ordered, Sean asked if Lorelei had started apartment hunting yet.
“I’ve been keeping an eye out, but it is expensive especially if I want to live alone.” Lorelei told him.
“You aren’t interested in roommates.” Sean enquired.
Lorelei shook her head. “Not really. I’ve never really had to share my space with anyone besides Nick and Aunt Marie. Nick left for college and as I got older, Aunt Marie was always out of the house. Plus, I’ve already gotten used to living alone and it’s only been a few months.”
Sean nodded. He could understand that. Apart from living with his mother, Sean has always lived alone. He relished his solitude. Sean had never once considered sharing his space with anyone, at least, until Lorelei came along. A part of him wanted to offer the spare room he had to Lorelei, but it was definitely to soon for that. Maybe he could help her though. He had been considering buying another property.
“Nick has offered his and Juliette’s spare room, but I feel like I would be going backwards if I took up his offer.” Lorelei said. “Plus, I don’t really want to live with my brother and his girlfriend. Who knows what I might hear.”
She shuddered and Sean laughed. “Yes, I suppose there are some things you do not want to hear family members do.” He commented and Lorelei laughed as well.
“Definitely not.”
“Besides, I still have another month or so before I really need to start considering it. If push comes to shove, I can stay in the dorms.”
Their drinks arrived by that point, and their conversation shifted to drinks. “I used to be a really big coffee drinker, but since moving to Portland I find myself drinking more tea. Which is a little weird considering Portland’s reputation for its relationship to coffees and cafes.” Lorelei commented.
“I can appreciate some teas, but I do prefer coffee.” Sean stated.
Lorelei took a sip of her tea. “Although I have found myself a bit spoiled. There is a tea and spice shop that I’ve started going to. The shop owner makes her own blends, and they are amazing.”
Sean raised an eyebrow. “Really?”
Lorelei nodded. “Yeah, it’s a little place on NW Fulton Street.”
If Sean recalled there had recently been a murder case in that area. A shop owner had been killed. Was Lorelei referring to that shop? And wasn’t that particular shop one that catered to wesen? Was Nick dragging his sister into cases? He was aware that the blutbad was getting involved, but he would be very disappointed if Burkhardt was putting his sister in harms way. She should be focused on school, not going toe to toe with wesen criminals. If Nick had been aware of Sean’s involvement in the wesen world, he would have given him a talking to. As such, he couldn’t say anything if he wished to keep his secret.
Lorelei later confirmed it was the same shop, apparently the sister had taken over the business. It also seemed Lorelei had begun spending a lot of time there. Another wesen his soulmate was interacting with on a regular basis. Nick and Lorelei Burkhardt certainly were shaking things up.
After the café, Sean and Lorelei spent some more time touring the gardens, conversing as they did so. Sean was a little surprised that there was never a moment of silence between the two. Despite their age difference, they always had something to talk about. It further reinforced to Sean how much they were meant to be together.
Eventually their time together came to an end. Sean drove Lorelei home and walked her to her door, stretching out their time together as much as he could. As they were saying their goodbyes, Sean took a chance and leaned down, placing a gentle kiss on her cheek. He pulled back to see Lorelei’s cheeks turn red and a shy smile crossed her face.
“Have a good night, Lorelei.” Sean said softly.
“Goodnight Sean.” She answered.
Sean spun around and strode down the hallway, moving quickly before he did something he may regret. As he reached the end of the hallway, he glanced over his shoulder and saw Lorelei was still standing in front of her door. Her hand resting on the cheek he had kissed. A smile crossed his face, and he continued his journey to his car.
As he reached his car, he pulled out his phone. “I need you to check someone out for me.”
