[A comic made for a moot on twt who requested Kaze and Moogle Kupo content. I got a bit carried away. I hc the mid-series Magun as completely dysregulated to the point of randomly overheating (and overheating Kaze in turn) and causing a lot of nerve pain. Basically, imagine a sort of magical autoimmune disorder from his body partially rejecting the Magun. Thankfully, Moogle Kupo doubles as his mechanic and pain relief, their deep bond serving to calm the malfunctioning Weapon.]

Serge & Gilbert Headcanons

They make pastries together in the kitchen. Usually Gilbert messes up and throws flour in Serge's face

They read stories to each other before going to sleep at night. Serge usually reads

Sometimes Gilbert puts his head on his boyfriend's knees like a little child and asks him to tell him a story

They like to take a bath together

On their happiest days, they drink a few glasses of wine together and get drunk at the same time

Gilbert is extremely jealous of his boyfriend, even though he seems indifferent. Especially of the girls around Serge who hit on him.

When Serge plays the piano, Gilbert likes to sing along.

They go for walks on snowy days. They walk hugging each other.

Serge warms Gilbert's cold hands in the cold

When they sit by the fireplace on winter days, Gilbert puts his head on Serge's shoulder

There are three sleeping positions they generally prefer. The first is when Gilbert sleeps with his head on Serge's chest, the second is when they sleep facing each other with their foreheads touching, and the third is when they sleep on their stomachs with one of them on the other's back.

Serge likes to sit on Gilbert's lap.

When the weather is nice, they have a picnic in the countryside. Serge feeds his boyfriend with his hands

Gilbert is obsessed with Serge's scent and Serge is obsessed with stroking Gilbert's soft hair

Okay @hateweasel fine. I will say my thoughts.

Putting this under a cut because it's a LONG post.

Renault has been in Bonnard's house since 7, he says so himself, everybody knows this. He is a victim of Bonnard's grooming just as Gilbert is, he was raised by Bonnard (which is, side note, terrifying to think about!)

It's also commonly known that Renault is the son of a farmer in Southern Italy. In the 1870s, when Renault wouldve been taken by Bonnard, Italy was going through a HUGE Agrarian Crisis, many farmers ended up landless or their plots grew smaller and smaller, causing low income across farming communities throughout Italy. In 1900 many emigrants were actually driven off their own land. Renault's family was dirt poor, RENAULT was dirt poor, and he was taken in by a rich man who gave him a luxurious life even for that of a servant. To a 7 year old, that's everything. Bonnard is not only a father figure (again, terrifying to think about) but is ALSO the man who "saved" Renault from poverty.

On top of that, Renault is canonically described as Bonnard's "favorite disciple" (it says this in an art book), he's complimented and showered with praises by him, he's given attention and is told he's someones favorite, and he has been since 7 years old.

Now for all of that to be taken away because some guy shows up in YOUR house? Suddenly this stranger is the favorite and you're left behind? That's going to hurt! None of this is Gilbert's fault, nor is it Renault's, all of the blame falls on Bonnard. But Renault can't blame Bonnard because, to Renault, he can't be a bad guy, he was that one that saved him! He's not a bad guy, GILBERT is the bad guy here! (He's not, obviously, but Renault has been groomed into the mindset that Bonnard can't do wrong, even though he very much can and very much does).

Okay now, when it comes to this scene! The Renault stabbing scene. I think it's fairly clear that Renault doesn't ACTUALLY want to hurt Gilbert, Gilbert himself says afterward that Renault was scared and that his grip was weak and shakey. The initial thought of stabbing Gilbert with the knife is a thought that Renault DOESN'T want, he wants to get rid of Gilbert, sure, but he doesn't want to hurt him.

He's scared of his own thoughts of hurting Gilbert.

In the actual fight scene between them, Renault puts Gilbert in a chokehold (once again, described by Gilbert as weak and shakey) amd there's some sculpting tool on the ground. Renault's plan is that Gilbert will grab the tool to stab RENAULT in self defense.

In Renault's mind, if HE gets hurt by GILBERT, then Gilbert will have to leave and Renault will get attention from Bonnard again, because he was the one who got hurt. This is a drastic way of thinking but it also makes sense if you're a victim of grooming and believe you're at risk of losing the only person you can trust (Bonnard is not trustworthy at all, please keep in mind that Renault has been manipulated since 7.)

That doesn't work. Obviously. And Gilbert stabs himself in the arm instead, leading Bonnard to believe that Renault really did stab him, which results in Renault being given a bloody nose by Bonnard.

Side Tangent: That scene makes me so so sad not just because it shows how Bonnard is physically abusive to his servants, including the one he deems his "favorite" but also because Renault is still willing to forgive Bonnard afterwards. He still goes out of his way to make sure BONNARD is okay instead of himself even after he was hit by him. It's incredibly sad but also, unfortunately, realistic to how people in similar situations to Renault will act. It's just really sad.

Btw, Bonnard only stops hitting Renault when Gilbert steps in and says thet he was the one who stabbed himself because APPARENTLY one bloody nose wasn't enough.

Renault doesn't hate Gilbert, they actually seem to get along pretty damn well after the stabbing scene. They start planting flowers together and Renault tries to protect Gilbert from Auguste when he shows up, even calling Gilbert a member of the household ("I will not let you take a member of this household by force!"). From the few panels we get to see of Renault and Gilbert's dynamic, WITHOUT Bonnard getting in the way, they act a bit like brothers. (I've made a post on how Renault acts like am older brother before and how he probably picked that hp from his OWN older brothers). We just don't get enough of Renault and Gilbert together for them to actually build upon that relationship, because of course, Bonnard and Auguste get in the way again.

THEY are the villains here, they are the ones that want to hurt people, the ones who made Renault and Gilbert so reliant to the point that they become irrational and scared if their abusers - who happen to be the people that raised them- show signs of leaving.

If the roles were reversed, and Renault was the one to run away and live with Gilbert, and Auguste began doting on Renault and ignoring Gilbert, I 100% believe Gilbert would've reacted in a similar way Renault did. That's why they're parallels to one another.

TL;DR Renault doesn't want to hurt anyone, he just wants to be loved, and the person who "loves" him, just so happens to be an abusive creep who's manipulated Renault in having to rely on him for everything. His actions come from a place of fear, not hatred. Fear of losing his parental figure, fear of losing the place he lives in, fear of losing someone that "loves" him, the fear of losing everything.

This entire rant is kind of messy and I apologize for that, I just wanted to write but I didn't plan in advance I was just winging it, point is:

What is their best childhood memory?

His best childhood memory is when he would sit on the piano to watch his father play, in fact all the moments that Serge spent with his parents are the most precious moments of his childhood, and which he certainly keeps in his heart.

How they express love? (Platonically and romantically)

Serge is naturally affectionate with the people he cares about, always smiling, being kind and helping them when needed. When it comes to platonic love, he demonstrates it simply by being a good friend, cheering his friends up when needed and helping them in times of difficulty.

When it comes to romantic love, all of this becomes more intense, he is capable of making great sacrifices for the person he loves. He doesn't hesitate to protect them, help them and let them know how he feels.

What’s their morning schedule?

He tends to be very disciplined in his routine, always waking up when the alarm clock goes off and calmly getting ready for class. Between one daily task and another, one of his chores it's getting Gilbert up and convincing him to go to class too, Serge also helps him to get ready and try to keep him in a good mood until the morning laziness wears off.

Who do they go to for comfort?

It depends on what is bothering him. If the source of his sadness is some personal frustration or family issue, he tends to seek comfort primarily from Gilbert, either talking to him or spending time together to forget about the problem. If the source of his sadness is some problem he had with Gilbert, then he tends to vent to Carl and Pascal, who are his closest friends.

What is their biggest regret?

·       The biggest regret of his life was not being able to save Gilbert from his accident, even though many years have passed since Gilbert left, he continues to brood over everything and blame himself for not having protected the person he loved the most.

What is their best childhood memory?

The best childhood memory he has is when he spent the whole day playing with his pets, there were few happy moments he had in his childhood, but he still fondly remembers his four-legged friends.

Gilbert has trouble showing affection in the conventional way, but since Serge's friends have welcomed him as a friend, he has had more opportunities to learn.

With platonic love, he demonstrates by letting people get close to him, physically and emotionally, which was previously something totally impossible to happen. He also demonstrates that he sees someone as a friend by participating in activities that the person enjoys, such as sports, games, or conversation.

His mornings are generally disorganized, it's not always that he can stick to a fixed routine. Sometimes he sleeps too much because he stayed up all night and doesn't feel like going to class, and sometimes he doesn't even feel like getting out of bed.

When Serge manages to convince him to go to class, he goes and spends the day with him. But when he insists on staying in his room, he tries to get some sleep, read a book, watch the birds from his bedroom window, or, if he's feeling productive, do his homework.

First, he spends some time alone until he calms down or fully understands what happened, then he looks to Serge for comfort. Usually, he doesn't immediately say what happened, what comforts him the most is physical touch, like a welcoming hug.

What is their biggest regret?

Gilbert regrets many things he did, including things that weren't his fault, but his biggest regret was not asking Serge for help when he was suffering from drugs in Paris. Not that it was easy to tell and ask for help, but seconds before his death, he thought that he could have a different fate if he had taken different actions.

What is their best childhood memory?

Carl's best childhood memory was when his brother was born, he was the age Sebastian is when the manga's story takes place. He may not show it much, but he really loves his brother, and he remembers the joy he felt when he met his little brother.

Even if Carl doesn't seem to be very affectionate, he shows it when he loves someone, whether it's by worrying too much about them, helping them with their problems, listening when they need it and always being there for them.

When it comes to romantic relationships, he may be a little shy about showing affection physically or verbally, but he is the type of partner who will always be there for the person he loves, supporting and understanding

Carl always wakes up early to organize himself calmly, he makes a list of his daily tasks as class representative, checks that all homework has been done and sets aside his books for classes. Pascal is the person he talks to the most about his problems and thoughts, even more than Serge. He might look to Serge or his other friends to distract or comfort him, but usually the first person who comes to his mind when something happens is Pascal.

Carl's biggest regret is when he should have stood up for himself or for others, but didn't have the courage to do so. Be it when Gilbert was humiliated by the boys in the fireplace incident, when Serge needed help or any situation of injustice, he wanted to help but didn't have the courage.

The best memory of Pascal's life was the moment he discovered his passion for botany and biology, at a time when he didn't have many obligations and could spend the whole day reading and experimenting with the flowers in his home garden. Sometimes his sisters joined in, whether it was picking flowers or simply hearing about his ideas and discoveries.

Pascal is not a very affectionate person, but he does show that he likes someone by giving advice, spending time with that person and sharing more about his thoughts and opinions, which he doesn't do with some random person. Pascal tries to have an organized morning, but sometimes he fails. Sebastian is still living through his childhood and forming many special memories, but one recent thing he remembers fondly and will likely remember for a long time is when Carl taught him how to ride a bike. The best memories of Rosemariné's childhood were certainly the moments he spent with Jules, the two had a lot of fun and it was at that time that Árion discovered that he felt something more for his friend. It's memories like this that comfort him during difficult times.

All that concern and the kiss he received from his friend really got to him, and it was on this occasion that he had a confirmation of what he felt for the young aristocrat.

Jules is reserved but enjoys socializing and helping people, he shows his love by caring, helping and listening when people need to vent. In a romantic relationship, he does this even more, caring for the other person's well-being more than his own.

Not ironically, it's the same regret as Rosemariné, neither of them admitted their feelings for each other, keeping that regret for the rest of their lives.

The best moment of Paiva's childhood was when she lived with her family traveling in Europe, before they settled in France and she became a prostitute. She loved the tranquility of the trip, seeing the different landscapes and meeting different people.

Paiva is a sweet and friendly person, she is always smiling and chatting with everyone, and she has a very strong sense of community, so she always shares what she has with those who can't have it. In a romantic relationship, she is sweet, caring, loving and romantic.

After she married Aslan, her morning routine had consisted of waking up, making meals, taking care of Serge, cleaning the house, and helping her husband with the housework if needed. But even starting the day in a tiring way, she wouldn't trade this routine for anything, being next to the two people she loves most in the world is too precious for her.

She knew she could count on her husband, they really loved and helped each other, so she vented to him, nothing that an afternoon walk together or a tight hug couldn't solve. Spending time with her son was also a good distraction, she loved playing with him and making him laugh.

Even though it's not her fault, she thinks she could have done more so that Aslan could have survived. Even though she knew she couldn’t do a miracle, every time she remembers Aslan closing his eyes for the last time, she regrets it.

She thinks that if it weren't for her, he wouldn't be in that situation.

Aslan's best childhood memory was when he and François had fun in Lacombrade, he fondly treasured all those childhood adventures and discoveries, where even a walk through the forest could turn into an epic journey.

Aslan shows his love by always helping the people he cares about, making them laugh and being there for them. When it comes to romantic love, he is much more sensitive to the needs of the person he loves, and even writes songs made for that person.

After he got married, he got up early to work on the farm, but enjoyed spending time with his family before heading out. He liked it when everyone had breakfast together, he and Paiva laughed when little Serge got his face dirty with the food, and when his son insisted that he wanted to see his father working or for him to stay home and play a song.

The person who is always there for him is Paiva, his true love. He always talks to her when something bothers him, whether it's his concern for the family's future or his sister's insistence that he return to his old life as a viscount.

What is their biggest regret?

Aslan never regretted having married Paiva and having Serge, but he regrets giving up the title of viscount, he wanted to provide a comfortable life for his family. When they went through financial difficulties, the thought that he could have done something different to avoid this situation always crossed his mind.

Patricia's best childhood memory was when she got her first paints from her parents, that's when she discovered her love for painting. She remembers when she and her sisters painted in the gardens in the afternoon, it was a really special time.

Patricia is very straightforward when it comes to her feelings, she demonstrates her love both verbally and physically, it is easy to know when she likes or dislikes someone. In a romantic context, she is much more expressive, and she obviously paint pictures of the person she loves.

Patricia wakes up early along with her sisters, they all have classes at home, so they need to get ready and go have breakfast before their tutors arrive. However, she likes to walk in the mornings, to observe the landscape and get inspiration for her paintings.

Pat has a lot of sisters that she can vent and talk to, and she really confides in them, but the person she is closest to is Pascal. She writes him letters frequently, and they both help each other out when there's a problem.

What is their biggest regret?

Pat's biggest regret was not spending more time with her younger brother, Michael. She often locked herself in her room to paint and wouldn't play with him when he asked, but after his death, she thinks about it often and deeply regrets it.

François' fondest childhood memory is when his father taught him fencing, something he practiced well into adulthood. When he teaches his students fencing, he always remembers those moments and imagines that he is now in his father's shoes, teaching the younger ones.

He is a friendly person by nature, both with his friends and with his students, he has a positive energy that makes the room lighter and calmer. But in a romantic context, he is usually a little embarrassed to show his feelings, but he is always close to the person he loves.

Just like everyone else who works at the school, he needs to wake up early and before the students, to organize the daily tasks, plan the classes, check the grades and those who are present.

His biggest regret was not showing/telling Aslan how important their friendship was and how much he cared for him, François feels he didn't show this enough before it was too late.

The best memory of Angeline's life was when she and Serge played together, before she burned her face and before he left for Lacombrade, when she felt like she had a brother. She misses her cousin a lot, he was the one who gave her strength to get up every day and face her mother's abuse.

Angeline is very sweet and kind, she shows love with kind words, small acts of kindness and offering help, both in platonic and romantic relationships. But when she really loves someone, she expresses her love through letters, small gifts that she made herself or that remind her of the person she loves.

Angeline wakes up early, get ready for the morning lessons and to receive her tutors at home, before leaving her room she mentally prepares herself to deal with her mother's criticism and pressure, while trying to focus on something positive.

The person Angeline trusts the most is Serge, and even though he is far from her, she knows she can count on him for whatever it takes. When she is feeling down, he writes letters to her cousin, his words always comfort her.

What is their biggest regret?

Somehow, Angeline thinks it's her fault that her mother sent Serge to a boarding school, as she burned her face trying to save him. She doesn't regret saving her cousin, she regrets not being careful and being away from him.

What is their best childhood memory?

The best memories of Liliath's childhood were the moments he spent with his mother before going to Lacombrade, they played together, had fun, his mother taught him about art, literature and fashion. Liliath's mother was responsible for his liking roses, as the two would walk together in the gardens during summer afternoons.

How they express love? (Platonically and romantically)

Liliath can come across as acid but that's just the way he is, when he really cares about someone, he will make it clear. He shows affection with jokes and teasing, but without hurting someone's feelings, giving advice and helping with problems. In a romantic context, he will be much more vulnerable and sincere, letting the other person see his weaknesses.

What’s their morning schedule?

Liliath likes to get up early to take his time to get ready, the most time-consuming part of the morning is getting his hair done, as he never thinks it's good enough (and getting those curls must be hard). Then he goes down to have breakfast and chat with his friends, already dropping some provocation or acidic comment to start the day off right.

Who do they go to for comfort?

Liliath is very sociable, but he doesn't vent to anyone, there are few people he trusts enough to talk about his problems. His closest friend is Necroix, and Liliath knows he will listen when he needs to.

What is their biggest regret?

Kurt's best childhood memory was when his father taught him to play soccer, and before he left for Lacombrade he could play all day. And he still remembers the good times with his dad before a game, and how this sport impacted his life.

Kurt is a very expressive person, he's always around his friends, smiling, cracking jokes and making everyone laugh, it's pretty easy to tell when he likes someone. He tends to cheer his friends up when they're sad, even though he's not very good at giving advice.

When it comes to a romantic relationship, he works even harder to make the person he loves smile, the jokes are more frequent, and he likes to show off his athletic skills.

What’s their morning schedule?

Kurt doesn't like to wake up early, but he hates being late even more. He gets up, puts on his uniform, checks if his homework is done (and if he forgot to do it, he leaves his room early to ask for Carl or Serge’s help). What most motivates him to get out of bed is when he has a game scheduled for after school or if that morning, he has physical education class.

Who do they go to for comfort?

Kurt doesn't usually vent a lot, he prefers to deal with his problems alone, but when he's feeling really bad, he usually talks to Nekka. The two are very close, and can talk about things they wouldn't normally talk about with each other, without any judgement.

What is their biggest regret?

His biggest regret was treating Gilbert the way he did before they became friends, when the other boys bullied him, Kurt joined in. He wasn't as cruel as the others, but he is very ashamed of himself and hopes that Gilbert can forgive him someday.

Camille did not have an easy childhood, having to work from a very young age and living in a place with terrible conditions. Her best memory is when she could play with her dolls at home, when she was a little kid, until she grew up a little and had to work with her mother.

She has a little trouble expressing love in a normal way, given that her mother is not very affectionate with her, and unfortunately Camille ended up being exposed to inappropriate things at a very young age. This makes her sometimes unable to differentiate romantic love from friendship, and ends up sexualizing herself and putting herself in dangerous situations for her.

What’s their morning schedule?

Camille wakes up early like most workers of her time, getting ready for another day of work while trying to keep the house in order and help her mother. Mornings are tiring for her, but it's something she's used to.

Who do they go to for comfort?

Camille's mother isn't the kindest of people, so asking her for comfort is out of the question. Camille probably has a friend her age who lives in that region, and as the reality of people who lived in tenements at that time was harsh, they could identify and support each other.

What is their biggest regret?

Camille's biggest regret was sleeping with Gilbert, as that was how she ended up getting pregnant. She was very young and did not have the financial and psychological conditions to take care of that child, and we cannot forget the prejudice that single mothers faced at that time.

so, for modern au gilbert i consider he's way tamer than in canon, he's not as. how to put it. bitchy???? he's way more emotional in my head, he can go from anger to sadness in the blink of an eye. he still slaps people's hands away though.

he probably had a short model career that he got bored of (when he was quite young, remember when in paris they put his face in the newspapers? yeah, he wasn't AS big of a celebrity but you could recognize his face in a few magazines)

also, i like to think he's slightly more aware of his Situation now, but he still chooses to not do anything because- what's the point if no one will do anything? the world already sees him as one thing, after all ...

my "craziest" hc is that he looks like he likes weird mixes of food, thinking of him dipping his french fries in a milkshake for example ... he would like that. also he would prefer air fried food because he hates the feeling of oil. autism strikes again i GUESS. he can't eat in restaurants because of that.

i don't think i have any particular gilbert hcs that i would like to share with others, but i DO wish they highlighted his love for animals a bit more! i love exploring his softer side because i just love humanizing him, i would love more people to talk about how he likes animals, how he would cope with the death of one, or the fact that auguste didn't allow him to have a pet. you know, that kind of thing. i also love to see him engage in "childish" activities (like watching movies for kids)

as for the gilserge headcanons i don't have many . . . hcing ships is HARD. but i do like to think gilbert blocks him for every little thing that happens ... he said something he didn't like? blocked. serge said he was going to bed and didn't say "ily"? blocked. block block block.

also i think gilbert would go to serge's house in the middle of the night and be like "hey :( open the door :( it's cold :("

As I'm working on the final post in the collection of Faces of the King my brain thought to stop for a moment to explain something. I have previously mentioned it in other posts but I just wanted to point it out again and everything else it is effecting.

You see in the world of FF:U there are two major elements and they are Soil and Mist.

Most beings in the Universe (yes probably your muse too) are what would be known as "Beings of Soil" even if they cannot command it as Windarian Soil Mages can. (Staring hard at Kaze right now.)

Kumo refers to these beings as "Soil Souls" because that means their soul is comprised of Soil.

Soil is the crystalized souls of the dead composing a color of varying hue post-mortem.

so humans, and most other beings are beings of soil.

On the other side of the Universal scale sets Mist or "Mist Souls" - meaning their souls are comprised from the magical substance known as Mist and these beings are largely beings of the Sky or the Sea. Mist Souls all possess a color within their soul as well, but Mistericans were the only beings that actively produced it within their bodies and could harness it's magical abilities.

I am telling you all this because Kumo is a Mist Soul (obviously) and there are very few of them left in the universe.

I am telling you this because Soil and Mist both have a governing force. That being that Soil is governed by the Spiral or Spiral Motion

While Mist is governed by The Straight Line or Linear Motion.

I am telling you this because in recent days in writing this man I have made observations and laughed because he does it so naturally.

Kumo is:

straight to the point when he speaks

someone who says exactly what he means

straight forward with his needs and wants

straight forward with thoughts and opinions

straight forward with his intentions

His thoughts follow a linear path

Kumo is very "point A to point B" in his thinking

blunt and direct

planned and organized

orderly with a place for everything

systematic and he will meltdown without them

rigid in the way he does things

Kumo gets:

annoyed at side paths

annoyed with conversations that go in circles

annoyed with topic or question dodging

frustrated with convoluted answers

annoyed with trips that take him all over the place instead of just from one place and to the other

KloLolo Fankids Headcanon Time:

Klonoa and Lolo as parents of two dog-cabbit/lunatean hybrid children who are both daughters! (Klonoa has features of a dog, cat and rabbit, but often described as a cabbit by the fandom)

1st born is Alora. Her name is of Latin origin, meaning "My Beautiful Dream". She has the appearance of a light-skinned Lunatean except with long fluffy cabbit-like ears that are black with orange creamsicle-colored fur on the bottom of her ears.
