[image description: 5 images of Cal Kestis hanging on some vines, while a droid stands on the cliff above him, talking to itself. it says: "Nobody is getting past me. Not without a blaster hole in 'em. I wonder if I'll get promoted for doing such a good job? Then I'll get other droids to guard the cliff. Oh. But then I won't see the scenery. Now that's a dilemma...". end ID]
I love when droids are just kinda sentient and this fact is never brought up. makes me feel so completely fine about killing them.

Reasons I despise Shadow and Bone
• Inej Ghafa in the books was an SA survivor and a girl who despite all that she went through, held hope close to her chest. Book Inej was so scared of the menagerie, she couldn't walk past it without the fear of being recaptured. She finally moved on from this fear when she choked Heleen at the Ice Court, stole her diamond choker and ran, calling her silks feathers. And finally believing that she was free after facing her fear, her abuser head on. So seeing the show Inej casually walk into the menagerie as well as merely shrugging upon hearing of Heleen's death this season, was not just extremely ooc but disrespectful and had zero depth.
• Kaz Brekker's disability was basically neglected this entire season and his cane treated like an accessory. Not only that they butchered the entire Kaz-Nikolai meeting in CK. Kaz would've immediately recognized Nikolai, like that was such a downgrade. Not to mention Nikolai threatening Kaz (and Jesper). Kaz wouldn't be threatened. Instead he'd make negotiations with Nikolai on his terms. Oh and most importantly, his entire backstory was rushed and played off like it was nothing serious. That intensity of two innocent small-town boys being tricked by an adult with agency and power, I couldn't feel it as much as I felt reading the books.
• Jesper Fahey's backstory is very emotional and beautiful. The memories with his mother and his coversations later on with his father, all lead up to him slowly accepting his grisha side more and embracing it. Embracing being a zowa. The show speed-ran through it and well, it lost its depth.
More importantly none of the backstory material makes much sense and lacks so much depth because there was nothing that lead to that development. The books, whatever transpires in SoC is what leads to and triggers their individual character developments. So any backstories stuffed in the show made no sense.
• Nina Zenik's bisexuality is completely erased by the show. Its like netflix is allergic to sapphics 😭
• Now Kanej! We got so much Kanej content we should be happy right? I agree. The scenes did give me a momentary high because those are some of my favorite parts of the books and its a blessing to be able to see them adapted on screen. Except, none of those scenes made sense, especially since season 1 barely hinted about some chemistry between the two and then season suddenly escalated all that slow burn into significant moments badly stashed into the show plot. I mean ofc we got the chapel scene and all but.. The whole wound patching-up scene was a pivotal moment in their relationship and it was completely downplayed in the show. And then there was also Kaz getting mad at Inej freeing some children from slavers? Like ofcourse even book Kaz would be slightly miffed but he wouldn't outright reprimand Inej and tell her she's off the team due to it, but thats what show Kaz did. And then after everything that happens, the sudden drop of “how will you have me” and the “without armor” dialogue completely did dirty to that moment. Like ofc she says “gloves on, fully clothed, head turned away so our lips never meet”. But in the books, Inej utters those words because of all the secrecy and lack of effort for pursuing a proper relationship between them. The “no armor” Inej says is addressed towards wanting him to be more open about himself (since Kaz knows basically everything about her, from her full name to how she was captured and ended up in Ketterdam) but Inej knows nothing about him, not even if Kaz Brekker is his real name. But the show made the “no armor” dialogue so bad. Its made Inej look so shallow as if she is merely speaking in terms of her physical wants.
Ohh and I did mention this in another post but everybody fucking knowing about Kaz's backstory? Everyone but Inej? The only person he actually tells in the books. Him even telling the fraction of stuff he tells Inej spoke volumes about their bond and how he trusted her enough to reveal this truth about himself. Show Kaz's past is revealed to Nina and Jesper casually walking in and listening??? WTF was that? And no Inej in thaf moment. Call it nitpicking but it was WRONG.
• Wesper has been reduced to the token gay couple of the show. Their sweet first encounter has been completely eradicated and they're turned into this typical trope of people who had a one night stand and accidentally met again. Their romance is so sexualised in the show, as many tend to do with queer ships (which is extremely disgusting imo). More importantly, we'll most likely never see the “no, not just girls” in that possible spin-off 🙂
• Ketterdam: the show has given no proper insight on Ketterdam. I bet most of the show only people don't understand much about the city and the gangs. I wonder if many even know whats a Dime Lion. And Pekka randomly having the stadwatch in cahoots with him was so shitty writing?
And these are just a few that i can remember right now. Also i don't want this post to get too long.
–» If you're one of those sheep fans, don't comment shit like “creators already told us its different from the books, so you shouldn't be mad” 🤪 cause I'll definitely delete your comment.
If you are one of those, scroll past this post. Cause what do y'all even mean? People can't freely discuss or criticize a piece of media now? STFU!

reminders for the grishaverse fandom in general (minor TW for brief SA mentions)
- kaz brekker is disabled, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay to call him a cr*pple [i]. don’t use slurs you can’t reclaim
- wylan is canonically dyslexic. “wylan can’t read” jokes aren’t funny
- leading on from this, “jordie floaty” jokes also aren’t funny. that’s just joking about trauma
- alina was a child, the darkling is an old, old man. he did not truly ‘love’ her, he groomed her
- nina does have a personality outside of being plus-size. she isn’t just the waffles girl, and the show constantly making her the only one to be strongly associated with food and food jokes is kinda fatphobic tbh
- if you’re cis and only headcanon wylan as transmasc bc you think he’s an ‘uwu van sunshine baby’, you’re probs just transphobic
- calling inej an ‘investment’ over and over again and reinforcing that joke is just a bit of a slap in the face to trafficking survivors
- people can enjoy the books and the show as separate things, but people are also allowed to be dissatisfied with one or the other and consume media critically. in terms of inclusivity and intersectionality, critical consumption is actively encouraged
- if you’re unhappy with casting then hate the casting directors and producers, not the cast themselves
- the media itself may be fictional, but there are real-life issues at play. ableism, representation of plus-size bodies, SA, etc. fiction does affect reality as it is often the lens through which we view and engage with certain types of oppression

unpublished fics game
I got this from @nocompromise-noregrets - thank you friend <3333. I’ve been having a ‘this is cliche, annoying, bad writing and not historically accurate/worse than philippa gregory’ brain crisis so I’m hoping to maybe get my brain started by talking about. So I thought I’d divide into categories.
Really Just Ideas/Outlines At Best
TWW Poly AU - the scandal isn’t the MS (they disclosed that) the ‘scandal’ is the Jed/Abbey/Leo relationship
TWW Ballet AU
The Roger/Chioke ‘worst recognises worst but Roger is absolutely playing him like a master musician’
The Plantaganet OT4 AU
The Multifandom Sex Slave AU (set in sort of fantasy Rome)
Persian Jewish Sara Crewe
Robert Dudley Travels Back In Time
TWW characters + trauma survivors
TWW Hunger Games: Abby’s Games
Multifandom Sex Slavery AU
Specific Tudors OT3 Verse Ones (That Are Just Ideas)
Helen Norwich
Dance Rehearsal
Tudors OT3 Verse Ships + Taylor Swift
English Civil War
The Crows Have Cameos
The Big Ones (that actually have stuff published)
Grishaverse Hunger Games: I wrote summaries of all the characters journeys and I wanted to go into detail - I have Jespers and I’m working on Kaz right now (he is very difficult to get talking). It’s taking the fact that the Crows and My Favourites From Shadow And Bone know each other and became friends and made me think - all these different Victors coming together to become family and also take down some fuckers (mostly Darkles)
Rewrite The Stars 2.0: I’m rewriting the first Tudors OT3 verse fic because it was only meant as a one shot and I have so so much more world building and ideas to write. I’m just stuck right now because (see above). It’s a fairy tale with a happy ending but it has a fight, it has pain and it has scars that will remain heavy but also, there will be love.
In another world this is how it might have gone between the three of them. The story of how the love between three extraordinary people change the world for the better and made it the kindest. The story of a fight for a fairytale
Crown Of Ashes:
Crown of Ashes is very inspired by the Taylor Swift Song Castle Crumbling. It’s a ‘what if Mary Tudor made similar choices to her father’ for better (and worse and maybe in between) reasons to her. What if everything the world tells you you should believe and want is wrong actually - what if you get everything you thought you wanted and it sucks.
This one. I know where I want to go, I’m just Not Getting There. I think I need to listen to the playlist again.
Tortall Found Family: Essentially this is about Numair/Arram coming to Tortall, heavy on the Jon-Thayet-Numair friendship but everyone is here, my absolute conviction that Ozorne never stopped loving Numair throughout all the books, that Roger had a really creepy possessive thing for Jon and also BONDING. Also contains Biracial Jon of Conte content (I think).
I’m going to quote from @nocompromise-noregrets here: Do please ask me about any that catch your eye, I am in dire need of talking about them, and it might just kickstart the muses…I do need interaction to spark the ideas, it turns out, I'm not great at this in isolation.
Tagging (if you want to obviously): @boleynqueenes @boleynecklace @theladyelizabeth @jackironsides @emilykaldwen @miabicicletta @unseenacademic @sherwoodknights @corporalicent @dr-dendritic-trees @endoftheworldhere @cinemaocd

You fell for the simp character in each game. How does Zoey feel about Byakuya, Sonia, Himiko?
Yep! That's true! 😅 I find characters with crushes really cute, especially when they're socially awkward/neurodivergent.
This gets long because I have multiple fanfic ideas of character development in mind.
Byakuya - Super jealous until it's clear Toko likes Zoey. Dislikes him in both universes but hates him in the universe where Zoey dates Toko/Jack. Even without Toko/Jack, Zoey generally dislikes how Byakuya treats people.
(My actual feelings towards Byakuya is that he's the kind of character that can be fun to hate. When I first played the game I thought they were setting him up to be a character you actually wanted to watch get executed or killed, and I felt like I was tricked when the game made him one of the survivors instead! Now I look back and laugh at my past feelings.)
Sonia - Zoey wasn't sure how to feel about Sonia (who is transmasc eventual they/he in my fanfic); kind of scared of someone who looked like the popular girls that bullied him, definitely jealous of Kaz's simping over them, mad that Sonia wasn't just straightforward and honest with Kazuichi, but...Zoey recognized that he didn't know Sonia. He kinda wanted Sonia to be secretly evil so he could hold justifiable hatred, but until he saw any proof of that, he would just avoid talking to them. ....After some events in the fanfic, he actually got to know Sonia and they became friends.
Hajime - I know you didn't mention him but I felt it was relevant that Zoey was very jealous of Kazuichi's crush on him, and (unlike with Sonia) Zoey did act really petty and cold and quick to getting mad at Hajime, like overreacting to his snark (especially if it was directed at Kazuichi). But unbeknownst to Zoey, Kazuichi had crushes on Sonia, Hajime, and Zoey at about the same time (Kazuichi was kind of dealing with a lot in that time lol). Zoey wouldn't say it's friends with Hajime but cooled off towards him later on.
Hajime didn't understand Zoey for a while and was sometimes scared of him.
Himiko - friends with Himiko before getting a crush on Tenko.
....Kazuichi is actually the one who pushed for Zoey to get to know Tenko. Zoey was always frustrated with Tenko due to Tenko constantly threatening Kazuichi ("Is this degenerate bothering you Zoey?!"). Tenko misgendered both of them because they were closeted, treated Kazuichi like Zoey's abusive boyfriend until she had to realize that they were both actually sweet together. Eventually Kazuichi and Zoey asked Tenko out.
...anyway, Himiko wasn't competition to Zoey because the way the relationships grew, Tenko stopped simping over Himiko by the time Zoey had a crush on Tenko. Kazuichi never took her seriously as competition either. Short cute girl bias.
I hope this makes sense. Thanks for the question!

Okay so you said we can send transfem headcanons SO here's two wlw Kazuichi ships. A messed up one and a cute one for flavor.
Kazujunko in this context is so interesting to me because I think Junko would realize Kaz is trans before she's even fully realized it herself, and absolutely use that to manipulate her into despair. She'd play the part of supportive girlfriend who teaches her about make-up and clothes but then fill her head with how the rest of society will mistreat and disrespect her, and how that will never change. How she has no option but to join her, and destroy society before it destroys her.
On the cute side: Soudabuki! I think Ibuki would do great at pulling Kaz out of her shell, help her find a style that fits her and makes her feel comfortable in herself for once. Plus, Kaz has a lot of issues with her appearance and self esteem so I think someone like Ibuki, who would 100% tell her she's hot to her face without shame, would do wonders for her. Also Ibuki directly rejects her in canon, so I think I'd be funny if Ibuki wasn't into guy Kaz but the second Kaz is now a girl Ibuki goes full AWOOGA for her like she does for Peko.
YEAAAH these are both so good!! Tbh I have a big brOTP soft spot for. Well, all the SDR2 kids, because I think SDR2 does by far the best in this aspect, but in particular Kazuichi and Ibuki. The whole scene in the second chapter of everybody meeting up at the restaurant is just so fundamentally Queer Teen Friend Group Meeting Up Outside School Hours. A lesbian and someone who thinks they're the token straight (they are not) talking about how hot girls are. Guy everyone in the friend group has a crush on was dragged along because he has nothing better to do. Everyone here should be tested for autism. It's all there babey
And Kaz and Ibuki in particular have a soft spot for me because they satisfy a big narrative hole in SDR2, with Kazuichi as the only survivor without someone who sacrificed themself on his behalf, and the third trial being the only one that doesn't have this sort of self sacrificial theme. I privately like to pretend that Ibuki somehow kept Kazuichi from getting the Despair Disease as her Best Bro She Talks Abt Girls With.
I love them as a M/F friendship, because I just love M/F friendships so much. But I'm DELIGHTED by the concept of transfem Kazuichi/Ibuki. The pipeline of "bro I talk about hot girls with" to "hot girl I talk about with friends" is so real. Kazuichi like "We'll still be cool right? We'll still talk girls?" and Ibuki going "Yeah of course! (HAJIME GET OVER HERE KAZ HAS BOOBS AND THEYRE SO HOT)"

On Shadow & Bone, autism, and my ability to hold a grudge
I'm willing to overlook a lot in the TV adaptation of SaB/SoC largely because of how fucking cute everyone is, but the one thing I will not forgive is what they did with David Kostyk's character. Let's review a few facts:
David, in the books, is coded autistic. (This is not up for debate. He is. If you didn't know that, now you do.)
"Autistic" and "awkward/emo" are not the same thing.
I'm not sure how to convey this next part to you if you're not autistic or someone who knows & loves an autistic person, but do you know how unbelievably rare it is for an autistic character to get a romantic plotline that's not either played for laughs or condescending inspo shit? It's so. Fucking. Rare. I cried actual tears from my actual eyes during the "I know metal" scene in the book. Here was Genya in so much pain and no one around her knew what to do about it - not the fancy Grisha, not the royals, not the saviors or the warriors or the besties. But David, who was not restrained by propriety or the fear of offense or the need to imply rather than say...David just fuckin' busted out with exactly the right thing at exactly the right time because Genya needed someone who thought like that, who talked like that, who had known this before and had never not known it:
David furrowed his brow. "I ... I don't understand half of what goes on around me. I don't get jokes or sunsets or poetry, but I know metal." His fingers flexed unconsciously as if he were physically grasping for words. "Beauty was your armor. Fragile stuff, all show. But what's inside you? That's steel. It's brave and unbreakable. And it doesn't need fixing."
And he delivered this speech - straining against the unfamiliarity of talking in front of a crowd, of speaking about feelings - he delivered it in front of God and everyone, and it worked. It worked because his brain knew what to do, and everyone bore witness.
Compare this to what we get in the tv series. First, he makes a pair of gloves that it turns out Alina doesn't even need, so way to make the dude look dumb from the get-go. (She lurves them in the books, may I remind you.) Second, the show basically said, ok, instead of giving him any of the actual traits he has in the book, let's just give him Robert Smith hair and make him wicked twitchy ok go!
The "I know metal" scene is so pared down and takes place with no one else there and misses so much of the point, so much of the power. He's not supposed to just be speaking about the fact that she has scars on her face. He's speaking to her about having been a survivor since she was 11 years old, telling her that nothing about her is razrusha'ya (ruined). I would rather they have left out that part completely than give us the watered-down version that they did.
I will not let go of this. I will love this fandom and reread all the books and rewatch all the episodes and waste all of the time on all the Tumblrs but I am like the ice and Kaz Brekker: we do not forgive.

Of An Endless Infinity: Remnants (IV)
Summary: What does it mean to be the Ultimate Hope?
Is it only hope on the big scale?  That the world is not so dark and depressing and destructive as the villain in front of you says it is?  That you can win, even when everything else says that you can’t?  That maybe it is better to live your life, even afraid, than it is to keep yourself sequestered away, alone?
Does it not also mean hope on the small scale?
Or: Makoto sacrifices himself in the hope that the other survivors might be able to help Junko. It remains to be seen whether this will actually succeed.
Chapter Rating: T. Fic Rating: M for Danganronpa reasons.

Elsewhere….
It isn’t shirking her duties to stay here with Kaz while he makes some adjustments to a machine that probably shouldn’t stay here with him but has no better place to land when it isn’t in use.
It isn’t shirking her duties to keep the fool here with her while they wait (and it isn’t shirking his duties, either, not that she cares), no matter how much he goes on and on about….  Whatever it is he goes on about.  She honestly doesn’t pay attention most of the time.
But on the third day after they reach Kaz, the fool gets up, says something about, “If we’re going to cause a ruckus, we might want more help,” and disappears.
At least he’s being helpful, the way that he said he would.  It is far easier to not regret asking him for help when he’s doing something more than lounging around and rambling his insanities.  Especially when that something means that he isn’t around.
She’s not her beloved.  She doesn’t get bored.  But sometimes, while she’s waiting, she goes to carry out her duties in a new part of town.  It’s always easier this way because no one knows what she looks like – or remembers, f they’ve seen her before – which makes them that much easier to dupe.  Her beloved would get bored with this, but she finds it….
It’s something.
Somewhere, some part of her once wanted to take care of people.
She’s still taking care of people now, just in a different way.
A better way.
Whatever she might have done before would only have been prolonging the inevitable, and she’s not in the process of doing that anymore.  They’d thank her, if they could.  And then the despair they feel when they realize what’s going on?
Her beloved always used to say that she had a special way with people.
She still does.
The fool returns two days later, unfortunate as it is.  “Look who I found!” he exclaims, hands out on either side of him, a bright smile on his face that doesn’t quite reach his eyes.  (Their smiles never reach their eyes anymore.  That’s normal.  It’d be weird if it did.  That would be a greater indicator that something was wrong.)  He talks like he’d just waltzed in on another one of them, as if he hadn’t specifically gone to find them.  Like this is some sort of surprise.
The surprise is more who he’s decided should join them than that he’d roped another one of them into their scheme.
Nekomaru, red static like lightning around his eyes, follows him into Kaz’s lair, his arms crossed.  He gives them a look like he’s a bouncer then shakes his shoulders uncomfortably.  His gaze lands on her.  “Miki.  Been a while.”
They’d been together, at the beginning.
Not together together, of course, since she belongs wholly and completely to her beloved and won’t even entertain the idea of anyone else.  But they’d worked together for a bit.  He’d pushed his clients until they were broken and bloody, and if they didn’t work themselves to death, they’d run from him and try to find a good little nurse to heal them and wander right into her waiting arms.  It’d been a thing of beauty, what they did.
Until people noticed.
Then they’d had to separate.  Play with different partners or play alone.  She’d taken in one of her beloved’s little brats for a while, but those kids....  They did better together than they did with any of her beloved’s horrors.  Such disdain for their elders in Despair.  Such hatred.
Nekomaru stretches his hands over his head, pulls until his bones crack and pop, and then lets them drop without a sound.  He cracks his neck one way and then the other.  “You storming the castle?”
A reference.
Her beloved would be most proud.
…she would be even more proud if she can complete the reference, if they can do it all together.
“Without you?” she asks, eyes widening with despair.  “It would take a miracle.”
Nekomaru lets out a hearty guffaw – loud enough for Kaz to poke his head out and see what the sound is, for his brow to furrow, for him to mutter something under his breath and get back to his tinkering – but it’s nice.
She’s missed him. (She’ll never say that.  Especially not with the fool around.  Not with that sparkle in his eye that says he wants to be told he’s finally done something good.)

my brother, my sister, and i played the squid game board game earlier today, and we each had two different teams to play as. we like to have fun with putting our favorite characters into life-threatening situations (survivor and hunger games simulator, anyone?). naturally, i made one of my teams the beatles. the way the game works is you start with 7 characters on a single team, and then with each proceeding round (which there are 5 of, not including the 1st round), you add another. so my starting group was john, paul, george h, ringo, maureen, yoko, and linda. the other characters were pattie, george m, brian, mal, and eric. (i wouldve chosen olivia or cynthia instead of eric, but for some reason, the yellow team had more male tokens than female ones vs. my blue team which had a 8:4 female to male ratio, which i chose mlp for lol)
the 1st game is red light green light. paul goes out onto the field first boldly, being the confident prettyboy that he is. john follows close behind because he cannot let paul take all the glory. he is accompanied by yoko and ringo. unfortunately both paul AND john get taken out IMMEDIATELY, leaving the timid duo of ringo and yoko to move out on their own. the next duo is george h and maureen. and SUCCESS! ringo, yoko, george h, and maureen all make it through. unfortunately, as the last straggler, linda is also killed in the first round.
2nd round is the cookie game. the core four are joined by pattie. yoko chooses umbrella because she's quirky like that, while ringo chooses star because Hello. pattie and maureen team up on triangle while george h is like hm i think i will go with Circle because um Easy. and while pattie's unfortunately cracked, SOMEHOW. THE CORE FOUR ONCE AGAIN ALL MAKE IT TO THE NEXT ROUND, ALL IN THE SAME TURN.
3RD GAME! it's tug of war. the core four receive the new teammate of george m. this game i was really worried about george h because he got stuck on a team by himself, but all was successful. maureen and yoko stuck together while ringo joined up with my brother's Main Character (chase devinoux from carmen sandiego). YET AGAIN, the core four survive while george m fell into the abyss. look, i was just trying my best to keep them alive til the end at this point, even if it meant sabotaging any new characters.
next up is marbles. brian steps up to the plate. now, it's round 4, and this game involves a lot of chance rather than strategy. unfortunately, yoko loses a game of marbles to jordie, kaz's brother from soc (one of my sister's teams). but everyone else survives, including brian, so good for him! yoko was a real one. o7
now, the 5th game is FUCKING EPIC. ringo and maureen end up being 3RD AND 4TH IN FUCKING LINE. and guess who gets shoved up to the front? maureen. MAUREEN LEADS THE WAY AND SUCCESSFULLY GUESSES WHICH GLASS PLATE TO JUMP ON 3 TIMES. she only fails on the FUCKING 2ND TO LAST PLATE. i was so sad to see her go, she shouldve FUCKING ONE THE WHOLE GAME. IDEC ABOUT RINGO I NEEDED MAUREEN TO WIN. now the core two, ringo and george h both make it across, followed by brian again. mal joins in this round, but he doesnt even matter, im too focused on the others to bring him further than the first square, and he runs out of time.
the final game. tied for the 2nd largest team, the beatles are now a squad consisting of ringo, george h, brian, and eric fucking clapton. this is squid game. eric steps out first and is IMMEDIATELY stabbed to death. ringo decides to brave it. also gets shanked. brian makes a run for it and manages to get into the triangle zone, but is also killed by paperstar, another carmen sandiego character. finally, george h stands alone. he makes it to the triangle. he faces off with paperstar. and my stupid fucking ass accidentally pulls out the wrong card, playing a push instead of a shield. and i lose the whole game to the carmen sandiego team.
SO. beatles squid game au <3

Who turns their backup Dragon Age ttrpg character into a romanceable inquisition companion? Who does that? Certainly not me, no. Anyway, this is my red templar boy, Casimir. I have a four hour drive tomorrow, so I might write up some of his backstory and how you recruit him during the trip. That said, he manages to keep his condition under wraps (mask, hood, and plenty of armor) until the destruction of Haven, where he demonstrates his red templar abilities to protect the inquisitor during the trebuchet fight. Kaz’ first interaction at Skyhold would be the reveal of his face and how he ended up the way he did.

I just realized even if Chihiro doesn’t survive, I think that they would play an even bigger role in the v3 remnant au, since both Miu and Kazuichi are in the story. Pre-despair they could all be buddies and after Miu went evil and Chihiro got locked up Kazuichi would be all alone ; ;
Wow you’re so right that’s so sad omg! I feel so bad for Kazuichi, he’s probably so lonely.
Tumblr media
I don’t think he has that many friends at the Future Foundation either, like, I know in sdr2 he made friends with the other survivors especially but that was largely to do with Hajime being his friend first.
And since Hajime isn’t actually in class 77, I don’t think too many of his other classmates were big fans of Kazuichi. (For the record I absolutely adore Kazuichi lol, but let’s face it he would not be super popular). So if Miu and Chihiro (and likely Kiibo too) were the only ones that actually liked having him around it would be devastating when all that went away.
He’d know enough about how Miu works to be able to tell she’d be the one to have made the executions, so Kaz would know that Miu was at least partially responsible for the circumstances leading to Chihiros death. And I’m sure both of them would have been watching the killing game footage and seen what happened in all its bloody glory.
Basically what I’m getting at is oh boy do I want to have Miu plunge Kazuichi in despair. I’m such a sucker for Despair Kazuichi, like I won’t because that super complicates the plot of the au especially the neo world, but man wouldn’t it be fun?
If nothing else I like the idea of Miu kidnapping Kazuichi at some point for a very destructive joy ride to attempt to get him to despair, even if it doesn’t ultimately work.

Except you can't really apply such narrow view to such complicated matters.
"Only his goals" were preventing more of his people from dying. It's fascinating, how no one, who isn't Alina and her three point none "friends" matter. I'd say they are those, showing "a lack of consideration for other people".
See: Grisha pogroms that never got dealt with. Any of the "misguided" Grisha on Aleksander's side. Commoners dying on Ravkan borders every day, while Lantsovs comission diamond trees and Nikolai's trying to tire his brother of duty he doesn't need to perform in person.
The Darkling was truly nothing but polite to Alina until she chose to become a deserter- person, who'd be tried and punished, likely executed, were she not ✨THE Super Special Unique Lightbulb✨. And no, it still doesn't earn her a cold cell, dry bread and water.
Same goes for the Blade Boy, were he not the only working leverage the Darkling had on her. I doubt First Army treats deserters kindly- they need to ensure the soldiers will prefer to behave as patriots rather than survivors.
As Kaz points out in later books- having people believe the worst about you saves time and effort. Sure, he said he'll torture Alina, but both she and her manly appendage think Darkles an equivalent of cackling cartoon villain, kicking puppies and singing about ruling the world. It's just playing into their expectations.
And interpreting Baghra as some poor feeble granny, mistreated by her horrible child is one of my "favourite" aspects of this fandom. If she wanted to save anyone, she had plenty of time to do it before Alina appeared. She had plenty of time, when she was bullying teaching her and the Darkling was away doing is actual job. And if she really wanted to be helpful SO much, she could've disclosed her knowledge of merzost, the Fold etc. some time during the second book, when Alina kept coming back to her, begging to be taught and trained to defeat the Darkling.
She wasn't tortured. Merely blinded by the same powers she, herself, possesses. Only remaining blind paints a better picture of The Victim™, never to be questioned or doubted. Not that Alina or any of her friends have the ability to do so in first place...
And upon re-reading examples of uses of said word- it's supposed to mean "impolite" more than "unmindful of your opponents' hurt feelings caused by one's strategic actions". It's a word to use, when you get offended by someone's wording, not when your enemy of choice threatens your walking emotional baggage.
Just saw anti post calling Aleksander "discourteous".
Like... honey... do you know what that word means?
He was nothing but polite (and often even ~kind~) towards people who didn't stand on the opposite side of military conflict. Hell, he was incredibly indulgent towards Alina in middle of a fucking ~siege~.
Would you like him to hold the door open for the people he's about to slaughter or what did you picture, when using that word?
