why lyney x aether just makes sense

no traveller ship has ever rlly worked to me (other than ayaka bc it was very heavily hinted in canon) UNTIL TODAY. HERE IS MY FORMAL DISSERTATION ON WHY LYNETHER WORKS

neither of them have pairs - genshin purposefully does this thing where they pair up characters (eg: chongyun & xingqiu, jean & lisa) which is why there are so many popular ships in the fandom. i think lyney's effective pair is meant to be lynette & aether doesnt have one bc hes meant to be a player-insert but that leaves SO MUCH ROOM bc when you think about it the closest thing lyney has to a love interest IS AETHER

siblings - both of them are elder brothers and both are TWINS . they also both have a youngest sibling figure (freminet and paimon; dont tell me paimon isnt a younger sister figure bc if u open a modern au ALMOST ALWAYS she is presented as "aether and lumines younger sister") their backstories are similar (losing their other half) so they canonically understand each other (There's nothing in the world I treasure more than my family, so I know what it must be like for you -Lyney, Friendship LV4) THIS LEADS INTO MY OTHER POINT

the "i see past your mask" trope - this is a very popular trope (and one that ngl kills me everytime i read it bc it preys on the human desire to be fully understood) BUT it was made for lyney . if youve watched ouran highschool host club HIKARU AND KAORUS "we are the only two who understand each other... until haruhi arrived" IS NOT DISSIMILAR TO WHAT COULD HAPPEN WITH LYNEY, LYNETTE AND AETHER . and lyney was BORN to fit this trope bc he already has the whole fake, charming, extrovert persona he puts on. ("Actually, the real me is nowhere near as outgoing or chatty as I appear. (...) I think people would feel sorry for the real me." -Lyney, friendship LV6)

narrative - a big thing about ships is they need to have a faucet for tension . like xingyun is extremely hinted in canon but its nowhere near as popular as kavetham and zhongchi. why? because theyre just childhood best friends. nothing interesting about it. zhongchi especially is hugely popular bc of the potential for reconciliation after the osial arc (zhongli's "im sorry for manipulating you. it wasnt all fake i swear" sorta thing) AND YK WHAT ELSE HAS THAT??? FURINA REVEALING LYNEY AS FATUI IN THE TRIAL "im sorry for lying about my identity. it wasnt all fake" the core that makes ships like satosugu and zhongchi tragic is the betrayal of trust, and, well... ("Nothing could make me happier than having your trust." -Lyney, Ascension 4)

binary opposition - why is satosugu so popular? probably because its the whole 'cruel murderer villain' vs 'strongest hero' trope and audienced like sun vs moon . okay . General :

- i think a pretty generic one: kaveh with freckles. i don't just mean on his face - i mean everywhere. in some areas they aren't as prominent, but they're definitely still there. (side note: cough cough alhaithan would jokingly draw goofy shapes on them if kaveh allowed him to. brainrot kid alhaitham exists in my head too- that's for another time.)

- would get told by someone "you have doctor's hands," and the thought of him pursuing medicine instead of architecture would stick around until he decides against it because he wouldn't want to dissect animals

- that being said, i don't think he's squeamish per se, but i don't think he'd like opening up an animal.. also the smell if he volunteered to keep the animal parts would be a-grade nasty, and i do not think he'd want to live with it.

- he has mixed up his painting water and drinking water. multiple times. it goes either way.. he dips his brush into his drinking water or drinks his paint water - or both.

- absolutely despises the texture of certain fabrics, especially the really thin and translucent one that frays at the ends whenever it's cut. makes him get goosebumps.

- this is a stretch i think but he excels at making brownies specifically.

Kavetham :

- has a piece of alhaitham's old uniform sewn somewhere on his clothes. where? i'm not sure. he just does.

- he and alhaitham would get matching charms. haitham would straightaway hang his on his keys; kaveh would do the same and then freak out thinking he's lost it only to remember it's on his keys and his keys are with haitham. said charm is now hung somewhere on him (attached to his vision ?? i dunno.)

- they communicate in morse code when in public/a crowded area. alhaitham taps his fingers on his head, kaveh snaps. if they're holding hands, then it's squeezes :3

Modern!AU

- he n his family would watch bob ross painting tutorials, and he'd refuse to sleep until he saw the results even if it was really late at night

- he has cats (two, one calico named kori, nd one orange tabby named piyo)

- he doesn't buy cat towers, he makes them. he has a bunch of cardboard boxes / other materials to make the cat towers since he knows his cats best and knows what they like to do (personalised cat towers !!)

- used to have one of those suitcases with wheels that you could ride as a kid, he wants one again but he saw how expensive they were and just decided against it.

Hi Hello! I am looking for a 1x1 long-term genshin impact roleplay. This post will include most details besides one we will discuss personally.

Ships: I am most interested in writing Cynonari with me being Tighnari. However, I am more than happy to have other ships such as kavetham, kaebedo, ayamiya, beigguang, jeanlisa or any other ships you're interested in added and roleplayed as long as they don't pass any clear boundaries (age gap, family ties etc.)

Writing length: I tend to flactuate on the semi-lit spectrum. Usually I set up with a few paragraphs to a full message, then the messages get shorter as the rp goes on. I don't mind any one line responses and might give them myself at times if it is appropriate, but I do not enjoy script style rps.

World building: the world building is very important to me. I would love to expand the rp with multiple ships and scenarios, hopping from scenario to scenario as we feel like it. As the rp advances, I hope to have our own au, one that has well-established relationships and lore. Pre established relationships are more than welcome, however.

Boundaries: I am not the biggest fan of NSFW. I am willing to compromise, however it will have to be discussed further between us. Besides that, boundaries will be discussed personally. Also, please be over 18 regardless. I am 22 and would not feel comfortable roleplaying with minors.

A/N: Based on Liz's tweet-prompt "Al-Haitham stages a Fake Relationship AU with Kaveh ('for the tax benefits') because he'd read it in a novel once" + my own self-challenge to write an entire scene just using dialogues alone, with little to no action tag or descriptive prose. Each dialogue line needs to be distinctive enough so that it's obvious who the speaker is, even without being named. This was a pretty fun challenge and I think I sort of managed? Kavetham family au where Kaveh's daughter is going through tough times at school, dealing with apathetic teachers and bullies. However, when she returns home, she doesn't tell her dad anything. Every time Kaveh tries to ask, she answers:—"I'm fine, we didn't do anything at school" with a smile so forced that Kaveh knew something had happened, but he doesn't know how to intervene, and it's worrying him

Later, since he started a relationship with Haitham, he tells him about the complicated situation with his daughter. He doesn't want to involve Haitham in these matters, especially since they've just started dating, but he didn't know who else to turn to. Haitham reflects on it and one afternoon, while spending time at Kaveh's house and looking after the girl instead of the dad, he brings up the "school" topic, discussing his own childhood experiences of being isolated from the class. That simple conversation reassures the girl, and for the first time, she opens up to that man. "Promise you won't tell my dad" she said seriously, a bit embarrassed. "Why do you want to keep it a secret?" he asked in return, not liking to have secrets with Kaveh. "Promise!" she insisted. Haitham sighed but, extending his pinky finger, replied:—"Promise"

Kavetham AU Idea

Alhaitham and Nilou’s families have arranged a marriage between the two. While they enjoy each other’s company, Alhaitham struggles to find himself able to keep the vows straight the longer he tries to keep them straight. His brain simply can’t handle how close she is to him, and it’s keeping his brain from functioning. Normally, it worked perfectly fine, so why now isn’t it working? Is it because he didn’t wish to marry her? No, he wanted to, if it would make his grandmother happy, but.. If he wanted this to work, he’d have to get past whatever barrier is keeping him from doing this one thing.

In the woods, he finds himself trying to get the lines straight, slowly finding his tongue again and being able to recite the lines he had practiced, the branch he used as a practice tool grips his wrist and drags him down into the Land of the Dead.

You can literally see Tighnari falling head over heels (all over again) for Kaveh in the scenes they share in the third part of the story.

The MLM Sumeru polycule is newer than I thought, if Cyno and Kaveh's interactions are any indication. Established, but new. (I knew cynonari and kavetham were established before all four got together, but I didn't expect it to be as recent as it is.)

The WLW Sumeru polycule cannot physically stop recruiting new members. Dunyarzad is living the life, man.

FASHION DESIGNER DEHYA AU

Karma is a bitch because even Aether gets Aether'd. But no one, not the character and certainly not me, expected Kaveh to be the one to achieve this.

I am starting to believe that whatever alien pheromone charm Aether has, Kaveh has the polar opposite one that also has its own charm.That's how he pulled the three most autistic and romance-disinclined bitches in Sumeru (before they became too inclined, that is, thanks Traveler).

This time-limited event is really important for Kaveh's character because it puts him to test which is a real shame for any future Kaveh lovers that could be. HYV really needs to stop putting important character writing into time-limited events, I will never forgive them for Albedo and Kazuha.

If Kaveh actually goes through with the divorce, he will still stay with Tighnari and Cyno and become family for Collei.

No way these fuckers are ever signing the divorce papers though.

So i just wanna tell you about an AU that i think you might like. It’s called the Kavetham Family AU by @portalmonsterrr where it’s set in the modern times and Kaveh and Alhaitham adopts Nahida! And it’s honestly cute like the one who made the AU also draw some stuff for it, although i should mention that there will be a lot of ships present like Kavehtham, EiMiko, Wriollette, Cynonari and i think more? but that’s all i could remember. But all the ships that i just mentioned do have their own family as well (Kavehtham with Nahida, EiMiko with Scaramouche, Wriolette with Sigwinnie, and Cynonari with Collei). So the AU is kinda a mix of family and ships, but if you dont mind the ships, i suggest you check it out!

(also Kaveh and Alhaitham are Exes but ever since adopting Nahida, their relationship has begun getting better)

Gosh, I've been seeing that as well, there's such a rush to be ‘in’ these days, people dropping fandoms because they're not popular enough never used to happen, or if it did, I haven't seen it.

Yeah! These tropes do have the potential to be written well, if they weren't, they wouldn't be so popular in the first place. I just don't know why someone would want to make fanfiction in the first place if it wasn't… y'know, fanfiction.

While I've done my fair share of getting into canon through fanon for a good portion of my fandoms— I always try to fact check.

Wanting to write accurately is actually how I started reading the Batman comics in the first place. I had heard about the stark contrast but I'm not exaggerating when I say it's a hugeee tone shift!

Then I see people just winging it, and I have no idea how they do it without going insane? then i feel guilty because they’re free to do whatever they want and they're just having fun but also are they even?? sure doesn't look like it.

Do they even like the characters in the first place? the ship? the story?? ugghh it drives me crazy.

I'm lucky enough to have gotten into GI post-ayato’s release, but that sounds absolutely miserable! i relate to you with kavetham— it's such a shame that fandom can turn you off of what otherwise could be a very fun character. took me a while to start liking him and kaveh (as individuals) for the same reason.

oh YES, honestly a lot of ships that people claim to be toxic are… regular relationship shit. not even inherently romantic relationship shit just straight up regular friendship between two characters that have, well, flaws.

fandom has a habit of demonising anything that doesn't fit the same brand of, as mentioned, oh-so-repetitive-college-coffee-shop-fluff aus. and i mean demonising. any conflict makes a relationship abusive and it's… actually pretty concerning on the authors part when you think about it.

Again, part of why I don't feel like I'm much of a shipper, is that mostly, i just like intreasting dynamics! which isn't always romantic. which isn't always familial either. There's more than two ways to mean something to someone.

It's really more about how stubborn people are on fanon-declared ‘canonicality’ that rubs me the wrong way. especially when it's used as an excuse to shit on other ships.

I definitely agree with you on wriolette! i like them as much as the next guy, but god knows if one was a woman people would be clutching their pearls and ‘don’t ship them! It's familial!’-ing them. and that's if they weren't calling the shippers out saying ‘they’ve barely even talked!’

yknow i say im a huge multishipper but i wouldnt actually consider myself much of a shipper at all. just open to the idea of trying everything once. the term has typically romantic connotations and follows the assumption that i think, and want, these characters to be good for eachother.

I'm, personally, less interested in the prexisting chemistry than i am in the puzzle of figuring out what differing circumstances could potentially cause two characters who have seemingly nothing in common to become eachothers everything.

This could explain my favorism towards rarepairs and more convoluted dynamics, and my aversion to popular, fluffy pairings that have already been explored a thousand times over, there's no work for me to do there.

Not to mention that when a ship becomes too popular it starts cannibalising itself, and lots of good, interesting characterisations are lost in the sea of people bending characters into pre-orchestrated, saccharine dynamics. alot of which are usually downright fetishy in nature, particularly in mlm pairings.

I mean i would say being able to get ooc and self indulgent is downright mandatory for making a good fic, but there's only so many times i have to read a fic about a big, overprotective, manly-man top who does all the work and the shy, small, swoony, softhearted femme-wifey-bottom before it starts to just be lazy.

I actively have to go out of my way to search 'switch' tags if i want true-to-the-character, mutual emotional reciprocation. which i really, really shouldn't have to do as an ace person who actively skips through nsfw.

And it's not that popular wlw pairings aren't guilty of these problems aswell, but those tend to lean more into the 'soft lesbians who can do no wrong' stereotype, which always completely (butch)ers all nuisance that makes the ship worth shipping in the first place.

As well as that's if they're even the focus of the story at all and aren't just shoved to the side by the main mlm couple. mlw pairings can be culpable of both these things, with the added risk that you find out the author made a twitter post with the characters in front of the 'super straight' flag.

Though i also wonder if me being aspec plays any part as again; im not as interested in the romantic aspects as i am in the possible hurdles they may face throughout the potential relationship.
