kerrykennedyrfk: “Though much is taken, much abides; and though we are not now that strength which in old days moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are, one equal temper of heroic hearts, made weak by time and fate, but strong in will to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.” - Alfred, Lord Tennyson. My parents were inspired by many of Tennyson’s lines. I hope 2025 brings you the inspiration to move heaven and earth. Wishing you strength, courage, and the will to strive, to seek, and to find. With enormous gratitude for your support, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year! 💙🎄

I am very glad that you have gone into the matter of her religion so carefully, and that she has promised that the children shall be brought up as Protestants and that she herself may come over to the church later... I am sure the girl takes after her mother and not her father, as his behaviour here as ambassador in the early days of the war was anything but helpful.
George VI letter to Edward Cavendish, 10th Duke of Devonshire, 5 May 1944
This letter relates to the engagement of William Cavendish (Duke of Devonshire’s son) to Kathleen ‘Kick’ Kennedy (daughter of Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. - U.S. Ambassador to Great Britain, 1938-40)

I have not witnessed a group of people so absolutely DEDICATED to misunderstanding the text of a work since The Last Jedi.
Like the conspiracy theories about how the work got so “bad” in their eyes. The seeking of scapegoats to explain the “badness.” The deliberate LIES about what happened in the show, mirrored with near constant dismissals of things that DO happen in the show. The misunderstanding of how narratives are constructed and designed. A complete misread on the themes of the show. The abject refusal to engage with the media we got in favor of fantasizing about a media that never existed. The OBSESSION with individual meta critic numbers to validate their hatred. The blatant insertion of real world political events as stand-ins for their grips with the way the narratives play out…
Amanda Overton has become the new Kathleen Kennedy, and Christian Linke is the new Rian Johnson.

Hello Tumblr, it’s been a while but all these deluded assumptions about who would replace Kathleen Kennedy if she truly is stepping down as President of Lucasfilm allegedly by the end of the year have me heated once more. Why are people so insistent that Darth Felonious (Dave Feloni) and Jon Favarau would be the natural potential leaders? Kathleen’s role is more financial more than anything else; she produces projects allowing them to happen she is not part of the creative process one bit; so why would creators take that role? Second I can’t help but notice the more successful recent Star Wars projects (Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, etc.) have nothing to do with these individuals; if anything those two lovebirds are always producing the more controversial/beaten to Death Star Wars projects (I.e. 3rd Season of Mandi, Ahsoka, Bad Batch, etc.). Thus my second question is why to people suck these guys balls so hard. It’s exhausting and no I will not be entertaining the love fest those two seem to generate within the fan base.

Kathleen steps down
Not sure what to make of it yet. Strangely, I am neither happy nor sad at the news. Sometimes it is just the way things go. I sort of backed away from Star Wars because I needed a break. I'm an old, straight white guy. A curmudgeon. I'm particular about how things should go, and I had often been irritated equally by George Lucas, Dave Filoni, and Kathleen Kennedy in their handling of things. The danger for me was it could be very easy to become one of the toxic people, and I had to work at not being under the influences of bad male energies that try to dominate the fandom. But at the same time I recognized that a lot of Star Wars was not necessarily for me. Other fans needed what Lucasfilm had to offer. I could enjoy the computer games, loved Rogue One and the Mandolorian, etc. without making demands. I was especially elated at the return of Barriss Offee for "Tales of the Empire" and I cherish that revelation of her fate.
I waited 11 frustrating years for that story, and it was everything I needed it to be.
Kennedy needs a break from the hate, and we need to wait and see without prejudice whom shall fill in that position and see where Star Wars goes. I want to have fun with it again. I need escapism more than ever with having a fat pig in the Presidency of my country. Until then, maybe I can jumpstart my love of writing and let my Barriss muse take my mind to new places of adventure. :)
Until then, I hope Kennedy's retirement allows us to all recover, and see what is to happen next. I wish her well.
