this is a non-rpf blog. I might lean into the narratives but tbh I’m not into men and don’t get much out of romantic shipping. Nothing against it though! I think everyone should engage with hockey however they like as long as it does no harm to themselves or others. Ride that ship into the sunset my loves we are holding fins 👍

"Why is Catboy Russell drawn in a maid dress sometimes?"

Catboy Russell, who gained the nickname CBR from friends, was spun out of drawings I once did years back of Russell as Chibineko from the manga and anime film "The Star of Cottonland":

the connection simply being that she has fluffy brown hair, and so reminded me of him.

He became his own entity with a differentiated design over time:

The blue and white polka dot dress design is inspired by the navy polka dot tie he sometimes wore in 1974, which is the first appearance I ever saw of him, and the white ears and pink (sometimes red) bow motif is inspired by Hello Kitty because he loves her.

And my sister turned him into a plush too:

Some people think it's weird, I've even had people tell me it's creepy to draw a grown man, especially a real one, like this. However, I don't think he'd be offended. It is just meant to be good fun and my friends are entertained by Kemono My House. Also, he is not the first instance of Russell being depicted as a catboy, as memes from pre-2014 (when I became a fan) where Russell is edited to be a cat already existed.
