the pomegranate popping up to signify the death of a lover -- euridicye buying one at the super market the day she dies almost not really thinking about buying it, the camera pulling back as charon chokes on his own blood to see the fruit already cut and eaten on a bedside table-- but when it shows up in zeus' vision there is no one else there with him his lover is his godhood/empire

🚨Minor Kaos spoilers, mostly about ships🚨
Genuinely losing my mind over the fact that the only relationship, the only form of love to receive divine support is Orpheus’s intense, overwhelming, needy love. Bc Orpheus doesn’t love Eurydice, he worships her. He puts her on a pedestal and devotes himself to her.
And obv there are like plot reasons for Dionysus’s support of Orpheus. But it keeps sticking out to me. Bc the gods don’t care about the sweet and equal relationships between Riddy and Caeneus or Nax and Theseus. Hell, Poseidon straight up ignores and completely disregards Minos’s love for his children, especially Ari.
And it’s just so interesting bc the only “love” to receive divine approval (twice!!) is Orpheus’s worshipful devotion. And I just think it shows so much about how the gods interact with humanity. Even those who care about and interact with humans fundamentally misunderstand human emotions relationships.

Okay I have a lot of criticisms against KAOS (obv) but most importantly why did it take Krete as the place setting and then filmed in any other location but Krete itself ☠️
Like I'm sure they could've arranged something ☠️. Irl Krete not only would've been more accurate (duh) but also would've represented like... actual Greek culture?? Which would've been even better?? Because this is a GREEK mythological show??? ☠️
Im sorry the locations looked like a mix of London and LA. Didn't give Kretan vibe at all (no wonder).
Also yall could've hired atleast one Greek actor with an actual Greek accent. Imagine making a show on Greek mythology, setting the location in KRETE, and not including actual Greek people like 😭
Ik Ik it says it's a 'British mythological black comedy TV series' but cmon now. This is just lazy. It's like they didn't even bother.
PS: Before yall come at me this show is a guilty pleasure of mine so don't think I'm simply a hater. But just cuz I like the show doesn't mean I won't provide criticism where I feel it's due.

Kaos fandom, how are we feeling about the complete removal of the "Rape (Kidnapping) of Persephone"?
It's totally fair that they don't want to imply she was raped, but the complete removal of her being kidnapped, or at least forced into an arranged marriage, takes away some nuance to her relationship with Hades. Sort of like wanting to paint their marriage as "good" to Zeus/Hera's "bad".
IMO it would've made for a more interesting background to find out that Persephone was in an arranged marriage with Hades, but that they learned to love each other over time. After all, Hades had already been shown to listen to and respect her (though his guilty conscience won out); Persephone had also been shown to have a high, if not an equal, amount of power to Hades.
Idk how it'd be in the show, but Hera in the myths was also forced to marry Zeus. So the Hades/Persephone relationship could've been an interesting parallel to Zeus/Hera, where they both have similar starts and yet starkly different outcomes. Or, if Hera had willingly married Zeus, Hades/Persephone could've been an interesting contrast. I.e., bad beginning ended up being a good marriage vs. Good beginning ended up being a bad marriage.
As it is, the way Persephone debunked her kidnapping seemed almost... haughty to the audience. In a "why would you even think that? I can't even eat pomegranates" kind of way. Idk maybe I'm just reading too much into it

Listen, as someone who has been hyperfixated on Greek mythology since I was like 5, Kaos is an amazing show.
I don't care if it's inaccurate. I know that it's inaccurate. The show said that from the start, that myths are left up for interpretation. I don't care that some of the relationships the show never actually existed in mythology because they are beautiful. I don't care if the minotaur isn't actually half man half beast, but rather he's a man that's become a monster because of how he was neglected and mistreated.
Yes, the show is inaccurate when it comes to a lot of Greek mythology. I've quite literally spent hours reading multiple novels about it, and I know almost every single myth by heart. But the fact that the show is inaccurate doesn't matter to me.
Because it's really fucking good. The casting and storytelling is incredible. The visuals and the jokes and the insane soundtrack. The old man yaoi that never used to exist. It's insane. And that's what Greek mythology has always been at its core. It's always been chaotic. It's always been "kaos."
And that's why I love the show so much. It's probably one of, if not the best on screen adaptations of Greek myths that I've seen. People complaining that it's inaccurate have missed the entire purpose of the show.

im guilty as charged i like kaos but i still hate lore olympus but at least with kaos its better written. yes as a greek mythos nerd i point out the inaccuracy because i can, it doesn't mean i don't like the show i really do i think they were cooking with dionysus being (I'm adding a label bc it helps a bit) pansexual but idk if they were cooking with theseus and Astyanax being lovers but they were DEF cooking with caeneus being played by a trans man

Have you come to notice in the new KAOS series that whenever Poseidon shows up to mortals, specifically Minoas, it is always in the bathroom?
Which sort of makes sense cause he is the god of the seas and almost God of the water. So Kaos sort of establishes that Poseidon can teleport where there is Open Water? Like those ancient spirits that haunt you and can appear through clear reflections?
Now, this also brings me to another question. When Ari rules, will he also dare to show up while she is in the bathroom? Because I am sure my girl Ari would not take it kindly being invaded in her own bathroom, god or no god.
P.S. It definitely it was a nice touch because it shows how little the gods think or care about humans. To invade their privacy to such degree and not give a shit.
