i’m just gonna say it i love how kaos handled orpheus and eurydice. i really did, im a huge greek mythology nerd and that story has always been about the refusal to give someone up even when you should, its not a love story its a story about grief. and i just- ah they did something really cool there didn’t they? i’m gonna rewatch the season and like properly form my opinions but i really like it.

I will defend the relationship between Eurydice/Riddy and Caeneus with my life
I've seen people say they can't understand how they can root for them as a couple when we see Orpheus struggle to save her.
Literally one of the first things we see is that Riddy has lost feelings for Orpheus and doesn't know what to do. Next thing we see her die and somehow are stuck in the underworld. How can you blame her for falling for someone else and call it "cheating" when she is dead and as far as she knows, not really married anymore? And not to mention she was planning to leave her husband the day she died.
It's 100% possible to feel bad for Orpheus while also rooting for Riddy and Caeneus' happiness at the same time.

i cant believe some people are calling riddy selfish when since the beginning of the show it was clear how suffocated she was feeling in her own relationship but orpheus was so emotionally dependent of her he couldn’t even realize. there are people saying she doesn’t deserve him bc of all he did for her, guess what? she didn’t ask him to do all that shit bro
honestly, i think its a great modern representation for the myth, even though i obviously prefer the hadestown version, i feel like the portrayal is aligned with most relationships in today’s society, it was definitely a great twist sue me i loved it

Okay one of the many things I really like about Kaos.
(Spoilers below!)
Ariadne wants to fuck Theseus. But when she finds out he's with Nax, it's no more of a big drama than if she'd found out he was with a woman. She has a clear moment of "...oh" and she's cold with him afterwards, but that's clearly as much about the betrayal and setup as it is about her thwarted libido, though that does seem to factor into why she's hurt.
People are just allowed to be gay, without comment or judgement.
And they're also allowed to be trans. There is *no* discussion of Riddy fucking Caeneus, in the context of him being trans. *None.* No hand-wringing about what it means for Riddy's sexuality. Nothing but acceptance of who he is. We are given no more reason to believe Riddy is anything other than straight after they've had sex. (There's no particular confirmation that she's straight either, but then again there usually isn't.)
That's another nice thing - the story doesn't make Caeneus's gender about his partner or her orientation. Caeneus's gender and transition are about *him*.
I'm a gay (...iiiiish) trans man and I absolutely love this.

People on Tik Tok, Standard to form, Are being dumb about characters, and they’ve gotten their claws into Kaos so I’m here to rant about why they’re wrong so I don’t blow up in somebody’s comments.
//SPOILERS FOR KAOS//
Riddy is not an evil person for not loving Orpheus anymore. She doesn’t owe him love because he loves her, that’s not how it’s supposed to work. She was right to break up with him.
She wasn’t happy. And no one should stay in a relationship that makes them as miserable as she was. And this isn’t against Orpheus either. I adore him too, and I think I’m the long run this is better for him as well. But I think the notion that he’s too good for her or that she doesn’t deserve him is just so weird. They just weren’t right for each other. And that happens! They could have been right for each other in the beginning, but as you grow you change, it just happens.
It’s not her fault he decided to go down to the underworld. That is a decision he made on his own. And sure, she should have talked to him when she had the chance before she died, but that’s a hard discussion to have. She’s not perfect, but neither is he. He took her coin, which in the long run is a good thing, but without the context of the rest of the show, it’s a really shit thing to do. They’re both in the wrong, and they both aren’t evil. Because they’re human. ITS PART OF THE POINT OF THE SHOW!!!!
I love them both very much, and I love Riddy and Caeneus, and I hope Orpheus finds a new muse, one who can flourish more under his love.
This could be complete rambling but I HATE seeing this idea that someone leaving a relationship because they aren’t happy is evil. It’s such a red flag 😭
AND THIS ISNT ME MAKING MOUNTAINS OUT OF NOTHING PEOPLE GENUINELY WERE SAYING THIS STUFF

Caeneus’ positivity is done so well in Kaos and I need to talk about it again. Sorry.
Caeneus is meant to represent the concept of living life for yourself and y’know, to its fullest and all, despite the gods. We get a bit of that with his transition but it’s reflected best in his attitude.
Caeneus isn’t an optimist, he isn’t innocent or naive, he’s sarcastic and dry frequently and his life experiences are nothing short of depressing and brutal. But he stays positive about everything, not because he thinks things will get better because god do they not, he stays positive for himself. Caeneus stays positive because it’s better to enjoy your shitty miserable life despite what it’s trying to put you through than to be miserable all the time. And I love this so so much.
There’s a lot to be said for how him and Riddy are opposites there - had a life where nothing much happened and he died forgotten with barely any positive experiences but still lived his short boring life to the fullest vs had a life full of excitement and adventure that she wasted most of being miserable.
I just think this is a refreshing take on positive characters because the poor man is clearly fighting tooth and nail to remain cheery. Like it’s not quite an act but it’s clearly an active decision he’s making. It’s such an interesting take on a character who represents the idea of living life to its fullest.
(Plus y’know the theme comes full circle with him being able to renew souls. I love him so much you can pry his arc from my cold dead hands).

Y’all I’m watching Kaos on Netflix and I’m on Episode 3 and 37:28 minutes in and a lot of you are going to like this part for a reason I don’t.
Also I’m surprised I haven’t seen anything about this show on my feed yet. Like…Billie Piper as Cassandra? Jeff Goldblum as Zeus? David Thewlis as Hades? The massive queer representation?
Like c’mon people. I need someone to yell about this show with.
