In Episode 3, Fadel looks like he's having the 'I give you permission to date my daughter' talk 😂 Also, I love Kant's smug ass smile whenever Fadel looks ready to punch him in the face. The tension between them is so damn good - protective brother vs possessive lover.

Also, kind of odd, maybe, but one of my favourite things this ep was the way Fadel gave Style most of the water and food and gave it to him fairly easily (if not gently lol), while Bison used the food and water to taunt Kant? I guess because it's a nice illustration of their mindsets and their characters at this point and I love little moments like that (I've really enjoyed all the ways we see how differently Bison and Kant react to the same situations)

But I loved it even more once Bison is the first to break down and believe Kant vs Fadel who very obviously wants to believe Style but is still trying not to, or something. Anyway, it just felt like a nice contrast to me, and I don't know how to elaborate on why, but it stuck out to me and I wanted to mention it, I guess

i said it the first time i watched, but i again find it really interesting that bison is the one questioning ruerat when he tells them about lilly, but it’s fadel questioning how much of it is true when theyre alone. and like i think it comes down to bison’s impulsiveness vs fadel’s instinct to think things through.

like bison’s first instinct is to not at all believe that their mother isn’t who she says she is and to kill ruerat for claiming otherwise, whereas fadel stops him to be like “well what if he’s telling the truth?” fadel wants for them to have all the information, and only once they have it does he question it, but also when they have it you have bison ready to kill lilly instead. and like yeah it’s also about the stages of grief and denial for both of them, but i think the when of their denial again says a lot about each of them.

especially with how bison jumps to killing lilly immediately and fadel has to get him to calm down in order for them to come up with a plan. which is exactly the same way it happened when they found out about style and kant’s betrayal!

The Heart Killers Fandom, let’s just be honest (unlike Kant 😉) we are all just waiting for episode 6… Christmas just happens to be on the same damn day!

No, but I love how the show makes it clear why Style’s confidence at the end of episode 7 actually makes so much sense!!!

Because while Fadel's "I love you" was a confession of defeat — after everything else Style has taken (his “I miss you” and “I want to know the real you” and “I want him to accept me for who I am” ), Fadel may as well give him this, too — Style's "I really love you" quickly becomes one of triumph.

Because for Style, the unveiling of all his secrets and lies means that he is finally free from the competing loyalties pulling him in separate directions:

...every choice Style makes, he makes with Kant and his baby brother's safety on one shoulder and the possibility that Fadel won't choose him if he knows the truth on the other -- from this meta post

And because all of Style's truths are exposed, not only does this (literally) strip Style bare, it also binds him in ties only of Fadel's making (thank you @thisautistic). Because if Fadel Knows, then so does Bison, and that means that Kant’s entire deception is already over, and there was nothing Style could have done to prevent it. All that Style has left to truly fear is Fadel walking away from him.

But what Style also knows now is that Fadel found out, and his response was to slow dance with Style, confess his love to Style, find him in his home and feather butterfly kisses onto Style's cheeks and dial his affection and the intensity of his desire for Style up so high that even Style could sense that something was off.

And even in this moment — with tears glimmering in his eyes and equal parts agony and fury laced through his words — Fadel's hand trembles while holding a gun with the safety still on (forever grateful to @wuxian-vs-wangji for this detail!!! T_T) and still failed to pull the trigger.

And that makes these ropes a blessing, not a curse, because they tie Style to Fadel, a tether that Style will hold on to with everything he's got because as long as Style still has this — as long as Fadel will still give Style his anger (his desire) and his hurt (his trust) and his retribution (his attention, his focus, his care) — the possibility of reforging their love still glimmers in the distance.

Which is why Style isn't afraid at the end. Fadel has already failed (to kill him, to cut him off, to leave him behind). Has, instead, only managed to show all his cards to Style, and in them Style reads a future eminently lovely and bright.

The Heart Killers Episode 4 Kant & Bison vs Episode 11 Fadel & Style

It took a little bit longer for Fadel to give his his heart and his trust over to Style. I think a lot of people have already analyzed that Bison is quick to act while Fadel likes to think things through. This is just another example. Of course we will just forget Kant and Bison weren't honest with each other at the time.

So earth is stability and fire is rage and passion and water is honesty which is why in The Heart Killers all big confessions happen near a body of water (sea/bathtub) and why this was the episode where they could put themselves together, because the earth (sand, tress, the forest, the green house) allowed for their feelings to set down and be able to actually talk and listen to each other and also the way it happened in isolation between Fadel and Style because Fadel feels much but it's contained, vs in the open between Bison and Kant because Bison's feels are too many and too loud and—

Quick personal observation/interpretation of each BOYFRIEND in ep 5 because I’m absolutely floored by how well the actors managed to emphasize their differences.

Jojo the talented man that you are… it takes so much skill to highlight different dynamics while the couples are still stuck in that gray zone full of secrets, trauma and lies.

- Kant vs. Style: Style in this episode was everything I wished to see. I was a little skeptical about how he was going to act around Fadel after learning the truth. Is he going to be scared? Is he going to act like Kant and be all lovey dovey while avoiding any dangerous topic that might make him look suspicious? Is he going to put a mask on too and come across as oblivious and innocent? NOOOOO. He was a stark opposite of Kant and that’s exact what I wanted. Not because I don’t like Kant or anything but I just wanted that refreshing contrast between them.

Kant has opted for the lover boy disguise since ep 1. Charming, down to earth, normal, unproblematic, gentlemanly, pliant. He wanted to appear innocent too but when Bison learned about his criminal past he couldn’t keep up that lie for too long. So he turned that innocence into redemption. A thief became a hero, an avoidant guy with commitment issues became devoted and loyal. A man seeking redemption and a regular relationship with a cute, pretty and ordinary waiter. That’s how he wanted to get close to Bison as a way to avoid raising suspicion, to steer clear of any danger that comes with this hitman. SAFETY came first In his book and he was smart enough to figure out that Bison needed exactly that: a new standard life and to forget who he is.

Style on the hand… many of us had suspected that his curiosity and growing feelings would overrun his fear of Fadel. Style is smart but he’s also bold, confident, extremely curious, spontaneous and likes risks. But what’s interesting here is that, contrary to Kant, Style is at peace with himself and his emotions. He always allow himself to feel and express those feelings. This, in addition to his curiosity, could explain why he flirted with danger in ep 5. He needed to figure out what he was feeling, he wanted to unravel the mystery around Fadel. While Kant keeps fighting himself and his love for Bison because he’s convinced there’s no other way, Style can’t help himself. While Kant constantly tries to remind himself that Bison is a hitman, Style in ep 5 is digging for Fadel’s humanity, anything that could legitimize his feelings for him or explain why Fadel is the way he is. We see this so clearly with Style’s confessions, raw feelings that caught Kant by surprise and even pushed him, FOR THE FIRST TIME, to admit that he, too, likes Bison. Style’s open attitude and straightforwardness exposed not only Fadel in ep 5 but also Kant (fucking finally).

- Bison vs. Fadel: these two are so different, we knew that since ep 1 and it’s reflected in how they act in a relationship too. It may or may not be because Fadel had experienced betrayal or/and loss in his past relationship.

Bison has a childlike rawness to him that fuels his hope. Sometimes it comes across as naivety, especially during his exchanges with Fadel as the contrast in their personalities brings that out. Bison not only wants a normal and carefree life but he’s high key convinced that it’s achievable for him, despite being an assassin. He’s a little whimsical and likes to forget who he is by putting himself in the shoes of someone ordinary. I think that’s why he’s so drawn to Kant and that’s why Kant acts like a “honorable citizen” (lol James) around him.

You just have to see how their relationship developed compared to Fadel and Style’s. It had a traditional flair to it: the courting, the dates, the handholding and sweet words, the soft tone with which they talk, THE BED (that one took a while for the other two lol). It appealed to Bison because it gave him a sense of fun, safety and normalcy. Unlike Fadel, Bison acts sweet and avoids scaring off Kant, unless his emotions get the better of him. He prefers not carrying that sense of danger and warning sign around him, which would’ve worked if he wasn’t so temperamental.

Fadel on the other hand doesn’t want to forget who he is and is convinced he would never be able to turn over a new leaf. Call me sadistic but I really, really liked how he’s still pushing Style away, even after he agreed to be his boyfriend. The way he’s doing it rn is so sad and beautiful because it’s doubled with this new vulnerability that just… ugh left me feeling all sort of things. I just love how honest he is with Style (minus that ex lover thingy he denied or idk). He doesn’t pretend to be someone he’s not, he doesn’t ignore his reality. I even think he’s loosened his hold on the dangerous aura he carries because in ep 5, he’s very straightforward with Style. Before, he would just act annoyed like a hardass who can handle himself but still avoided raising suspicion. The shift in ep 5 is CRAZY. He told Style on numerous occasions: “look I’m dangerous, you need to leave. I won’t trust you and I can’t give you what you want because I don’t think anyone can love me enough to stay by my side through this.”

I really enjoyed the contrast between what was happening with KantBison vs FadelStyle in this episode.

It was like comic relief, forever horny for his hitman boyfriend, Style with said grumpy black cat hitman boyfriend, Fadel, trudging along in their own little rom com adventure where Fadel has to figure out how to deal with his feelings for Style while Style tries to break down the wall he's paperclipped back together.....

And then there's Kant and Bison having a play at punishment, deep emotional breakdowns, safe word usage, ugly/pretty crying from everyone involved, and sad make up/make out sessions.

I honestly think the argument/debate people are having about FadelStyle is missing an important tidbit. On one end, some believe Fadel is playing Style and only agreed to be his boyfie to ultimately get to the bottom of Kant/Style. Others think Fadel is opening his heart to Style because of pent-up emotions. But I think both things can be true while simultaneously being completely false. The story is meant to show you that everything isn't black and white. Meaning you can root for the mislead "bad guys" while also rooting for the selfish and morally gray "good guys".

The thing is, Fadel isn't stupid and neither is Style. Maybe Fadel is starting to like Style, maybe he completely doesn't and is trying to figure everything out. But logically, the Fadel we have seen is way too logical to fully do either. If the flashbacks we've seen so far about Fadel and Bison's lives are to be considered true, then Fadel is canonically the levelheaded one and one step ahead. He is also better at their job than Bison is, as Bison is quite sloppy. I actually think that Bison isn't as naive as he plays up, just emotional and traumatized.

Bringing this back to FadelStyle, I don't think either assumption is 100% correct. While I believe that Fadel is breaking character around Style, I do not believe he thoroughly trusts him. He can't because Style is a direct link to the one person he finds to be the shadiest, Kant. Maybe if he didn't know that so early I would believe he's 100% trying out the boyfie thing. But since that is not the case, here are the two things I think could be true:

Fadel is sus about Kant/Style and is using Style's "attraction" to him to get information. But, the issue with that is, that he is attracted to Style, physically and somewhat mentally, which is also making it hard for him to compartmentalize the two besties. So without the ability to separate the Style that he is seeing vs the Style that could be beneath the surface, his plan begins to crack and he begins to lean into the idea that maybe Style is just into him in the coming episodes (making the betrayal hit harder because had he trusted his gut, they wouldn't be betrayed).

He wants to believe someone is choosing him so bad that he gives Style a chance even though he doesn't fully believe that something isn't off between Kant and Style. And instead of being sus about it, he instead wants to believe Style is different and leans into Bison-level naivety for once.

I loved the besties vs brothers chicken fight, okay?

I loved them all goading Fadel into being silly and being "a kid", because none of them really got to do that without trauma, but Fadel has reacted to that lack of play by locking himself down and hasn't given himself an outlet like the others have.

But he takes to it so easily. Look at how happy he is, just goofing off with his brother and the two people they love. Look at how much they love and trust each other, and how easy it is for them to be silly instead of stressed out with each other!

They're brothers! And how long has it been since they just got to be brothers? Got to be two guys in their twenties, just taking time to have fun?

We've seen a lot of the bickering and needling that comes with siblings, but this is the first time they're smiling together.

This is all Bison wants. He wants a brother he can talk to and be goofy with and support and feel supported by. He has said to Kant multiple times how much he just wants to see Fadel happy. Bison wants to be a family, and I think it's plain enough that Fadel also wants that, he just didn't know he was allowed to until now.

Anyways, I'm emotional about brothers who weren't allowed to have childhoods, and the men they get up to be getting to goof around like kids for a little while.

Just wanted to say I loved your post about the swing scene convo - you have a wonderful way with words and such a great grasp of the characters. What you said bout Bison with Fadel vs with Kant re. the hitman life was really interesting and something I hadn't picked up on.

And I particularly liked what you wrote about Kant and Babe, because I can't believe we're 8 eps in and there are still ppl (surely wilfully at this point?!) misunderstanding him - it's like they're determined to think the worst of him, not matter what he does/says! The idea that trusting his brother enough to let him live his own life independently once he comes of age is somehow a dick move and not what Babe himself would want? That prioritising his own happiness for the first time in his life is peak jerkface behaviour? From comments I've seen you'd think Kant had basically declared Babe was now dead to him! I mean, it only took: agreeing to seduce (only to then fall in love for real with) an assassin, getting knocked out, kidnapped, confronted with your childhood trauma and threatened with death multiple times for Kant to realise that maybe, just maybe, he needs to re-evaluate some things! It's obvious this has all been a bit of a wake-up call for him.

But you laid it out so clearly, and the way you explained how this is about Kant's agency and what he's choosing to do with it now he actually has some...spot-on, as always! It's so satisfying to read when someone just Gets It. And much like you, Swing Scene will stay with me for a very long time - the way FK can deliver so many different emotions and vibes in just one scene - passion, comfort, vulnerability, longing, affection, hunger, wistfulness, relief, lust, hope, weariness...gah! And oh the intimacy. It's...nope, don't have the words. I know I'm biased, but I swear nobody does intimacy like FK. It's just such a delight/privilege to watch them in action.

There's something so tragically poetic and yet justly deserved about the way Kant has to get Bison wasted and drugged and emotionally manipulate him using Kant's friend and his own baby brother in all his attempts to get behind the wall Bison has between them...

...while Style gets to enjoy Fadel intentionally and purposefully drinking himself careless and honest and open, and watch as Fadel himself dismantles as much of that very same wall in his desire to let Style in.

Because Style, at least, knew very little up until the point of becoming boyfriends with Fadel, so he has the confidence of succeeding on the effectiveness of his own genuine courtship (as insane as it was), while the very insight that gives Kant an edge in all his dealings with Bison also ensures that he never had the assurance of safety (particularly with Bison's more volatile and primal instincts vs Fadel's preference towards reason and logic) that gave Style the ability to chip at Fadel's walls to begin with.
