Eventually he'd start to go after everyone and anyone. Except maybe Haruko because y'know. Akagi's scary when he's pissed.

Same as with Sakuragi, if Ayako were to be there he'd try to protect her from getting clobbered, but if anything Ayako would be the one clobbering him --

Somehow it's pretty hard to get a hit on him because he's running and jumping from place to place like lightning (winkwink)

Rukawa Kaede x Gn!Reader Headcanons

The face in the gif is all I can see him having while in a relationship and committing romantic acts.

I'm going to start with the most obvious fact: Rukawa isn't a big fan of PDA, but he doesn't hate it either. He won't be the one to initiate affection in public. However, he also isn't the type to slap away your hand when you're trying to hold onto his. If anything, I see Rukawa stuffing both yours and his hand in his pockets.

Rukawa is quiet by nature. He is satisfied with sitting and listening to you talk about your day, if-you-won't-ask-he-won't-share type of guy. But if you're not much of a talker, he is content with the silence and mutual understanding shared in this relationship.

For some reason... I see Rukawa as a mouth person, not in a sexual way, he just really adores any type of lip shape you might possess. The more time you spend with him the more you understand his thought processes and how it revolves around his naps, so yeah, tutoring will be adjusted to fit his style since Rukawa can't solve one equation without his head lying sideways on his arm and not to mention him taking a ten-minute nap before he moves on to do another subject. Between him and you, you have more chance to fall asleep for hours, since Rukawa always ends up waking up after ten minutes.

He is also a light sleeper and a clingy one too, good luck trying to get him off of you. His stubbornness shows up at the worst times.

He will meticulously think in a lot of little activities to do during the date;

• One thing about Rukawa, he is going to the gym ALONE. Like it’ll literally be him, his airpods, a towel, and a fat waterbottle against the world. I don’t think he’d hate working out with someone, but he’d prefer to workout alone since he can stay focused and go at his own pace.

• He’d have both his AirPods in at full volume and go CRAZY on the machines/weightlifting bars. I think for his stamina, he would use the Stairmaster at full speed and go on it for as long as he could.

• I’d say that he does workouts for all of his body, but his favorite workouts would be arm ones, just because he’ll be able to put more power into his basketball shots.

• I don’t think he’d be approached by anyone at the gym since he’s always super focused on his workout and looks VERY intimidating, but if you went up to him and asked him for help, he’d do it.

• BUTTTT If he was in a bad mood that day, he might just put his AirPod right back in and ignore you 😂. However, after he cools off, he’d feel kinda bad. And then sigh and go up to you like “What did you need help with?”

• Ok, one thing about Mitsui, he is NOT going to the gym alone. Like he will hit the whole mf team up and ask them to go with him. Even Akagi.

How did you even manage to end up in a relationship with Rukawa? Doesn't matter because he is actually a very sweet boyfriend.

He doesn't talk much so he finds other ways to show his affection towards you.

He will probably make you listen to love songs that express his feelings better when he can't.

Hides little notes inside your notebooks.

Although he is almost always emotionless, he is very romantic.

He enjoys holding your hand. It gives him comfort.

Even though he isn't the biggest fun of hugs he likes hugging you. Especially after a tiring day.

He will probably end up sleeping while hugging you.

Don't get fooled by his calm expression, Rukawa can get pretty jealous when other people try to flirt with you.

Doesn't like it when you're near Sakuragi. Mostly because he doesn't like his loud and bold personality.

The very first words he said to you after you casually let it slip that you are going on a date with Rukawa.

Hanamichi is overprotective of your feelings, he always has been involved in your business, even before adopting the delinquent lifestyle. After that, he had to enforce some rules around a few territories with his physic. this action did gain him a few grudges, none of the opponents planned on getting their teeth shattered again. It's safe to say he was more than interested in the events happening in your life, including your love life, which was especially annoying. Hanamichi doesn't feel a twisted jealousy like depicted in some animes, nor does he think you're his innocent, adorable sister who is helpless. Quite the opposite—he has seen you throw some mean "playful" punches and Indian/Chinese burns, which left his skin more vibrant red than a tomato. It's impressive, considering that not many of his enemies' hits manage to last as long as injuries caused by you do.

He tries to not meddle in your taste in men or what you're up too when you're alone. Hanamichi doesn't care as long as he or whoever the person would be is treat you right.

The root of his interest is curiosity,, he doesn’t know when to keep his nose out of your business, which causes a few quarrels between the two of you.

The problem arises when Rukawa involves himself with you. Hanamichi has seen how Rukawa treats women, especially those who are interested in him, which is why he might seem overprotective when all three of you are in the same room. In reality, he's just worried about your heart getting broken.

Rukawa, on the other hand, quietly celebrates his victory over Sakuragi, aware that Sakuragi can't interfere with his relationship with you. He finds it odd that Sakuragi is your brother, not because you share similar features, but in a way that is indescribable.

It also helps that your relationship changes the dynamic between the two boys. It’s not a noticeable change in their behavior toward each other, because you’re still forced into the role of a mediator when Kaede visits, however they do try to not physically fight and compete in front of you.

When Hanamichi realizes that Rukawa is serious about your relationship, his mind will be put at ease. Perhaps he’ll see both of you taking naps together, and it will all click into place, or he will witness Rukawa's efforts to contribute to the relationship, like sneakily trying to deceive Sakuragi into sharing facts about you that only he knows (aside from your friends), like what are your favorite foods and sweets?

Hanamichi doesn't care to give an approval because he believes that it is not needed and you can make your own decisions without his intervention and Rukawa tries extra hard to embarass Hanamichi in front of you if you happen to be in the gym when they're practicing.

On the surface nothing changes between them, except maybe they try to avoid throwing punches at each other's face. Only the face is prohibited... They don't want you to be mad at them...

RUKAWA KAEDE ROMANTIC HEADCANONS

To be honest you would never talk to each other if your parents didn't knew each other.

You moved to Kamakura before you started gymnasium and he's your neighbor, your mothers instantly liked each other so you were meeting each other quite often. (By meeting I mean that you let him sleep in your bed when his mom made him go over to your place with her)

At first you were just friends but at the first year of high school he realized he likes you, rejecting every girl that confessed to him just to think about a way to confess to you himself. It took him some time.

But he finally did it in the middle of the night cause he couldn't sleep because he kept thinking about you and it was a tragedy for him.

It ended up being romantic for no reason- Like he was scared that he'll wake up your parents so he just climbed your balcony and scared the shit out of you by knocking at your window.

Then he told you that he likes you and went back to sleep on your bed and you were just standing there in shock cus wtf.

It ended up as your ritual, he's just coming to see you through your balcony sometimes.

In the public he doesn't show you affection much. Mostly only when his fangirls torture him with their presence then he'll just look them up and down and hug you from behind and put his head on your shoulder or when he's not in the mood he'll just hold your hand and look at the girl annoyed.

In privacy though... He'll just cuddle you to the end. You go home from school and he invites you over? Only to force you to be his pillow.

He invites you over to his games cause he notices that he plays better in front of you.

physical touch in slam dunk

There is a big difference between the dynamics of friendships involving two girls, compared to a friendship with two boys. Girls are more likely to be communicative with how they appreciate each other. Boys don’t communicate this verbally, due to not wanting to come off as “cheesy” or “corny”. Instead, they show their affection/appreciation towards each other through physical touch. While not all guys are like this, a lot of boys are very touchy with each other, even coming off as gay at times.

Slam Dunk presents an accurate portrayal of male friendships. Their relationships with each other reflects on their age and maturity, and I believe it is part of why Shohoku and their dynamic as a team is so likable.

Something that I believe is notable is that the boys aren’t emotionally vulnerable with each other. Both Ryota Miyagi and Hanamichi Sakuragi are shown to have rough backgrounds, but neither of them are shown to tell their teammates about it. And they aren’t visibly depressed in front of the team.

I think the most emotionally vulnerable moments are from Mitsui and Akagi, who are both the oldest of the team.

Mitsui, who had hid his feelings of wanting to go back to basketball, finally broke down when Anzai walked back into the gym. Mitsui clearly did not intend to break down like this, I think he was just caught in the moment. The guys didn’t say anything about this, partially because they were still pissed at Mitsui for what happened, but also because they probably wouldn’t have known how to handle that at the moment.

The moment in the series to me that signified the most about how the boys aren’t vulnerable to each other was when Akagi cried, and said that the team was amazing. The guys didn’t comfort him, but instead were like “Why you crying?” and then went on to make fun of him. I think this is realistic compared to other series where the guys are all comforting each other, as they are teen boys and they don’t want to come off as soft.

Another vulnerable moment in the series was when Miyagi and Sakuragi both cried in front of each other because of their bad luck with girls. This wasn’t intentional either, and I think it was the result of the heat of the moment.

Instead of being affectionate through words, physical touch is used to show the boys’ friendliness with each other.

An example of this is during their games. When the team scores, they high five each other, fist bump, or pat each other. While this is typical behavior for teams, it is used to show Rukawa growing closer to the team, as he ends up engaging in this as well.

Additionally, when Shohoku lost against Kainan, Sakuragi cried. Akagi doesn’t say anything to comfort him in particular, but he pats Sakuragi and walks with him. I think this showed his care for Sakuragi, and he felt bad seeing him like that, it just wasn’t portrayed with words.

And when Akagi cried after winning against Ryonan, Sakuragi wraps his arm around Akagi and tells him to come line up with him. Again, nothing particularly comforting is said verbally, but it’s shown through actions.

Another big moment, arguably one of the biggest in the series, was Sakuragi and Rukawa going up to each other and high fiving after winning against Sannoh. Rukawa is shown before this to have high fived or fist bumped other members of the team, but not Sakuragi. Due to their “rivalry”, the two didn’t say anything and just looked at each other for a second before turning away. However, their high five signified how the two had grown close, as teammates and as friends.

Showing emotional vulnerability and closeness through physical touch is very effective and provides a sense of realism, and I believe that Slam Dunk would not have been as strong of a series if the physical touch between the team was not presented.
