the club has existed since 1968. the name derives from the fact that it was founded by one of the päffgen brothers and that päffgen kölsch is serve

El Segundo Crowner Kölsch (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 3 of 4. Generally true to the style -- slightly more color than I was expecting, but a nice grain sweetness and light grassy and herbal hop notes on top. Clean, relatively simple (as intended), and good.

In my regional dialect (which is called Kölsch) we call it “Käppchen”. In my parents’ house we used to speak mainly Hochdeutsch, aka dialect free German, but ever since I moved out and closer to my grandparents who speak Kölsch I have been understanding a lot more of it and started speaking much more Kölsch myself, just habitually, to the point where sometimes my mum, not being as fluent as I am, can’t understand what I’m saying. I’m honestly really proud of my kölsch heritage, it’s just a really cool place to live, there’s a huge artist’s scene, a lot of queer folks, a lot of cultural diversity, a long and interesting historical background and kölsche people just know how to have fun.

kuenstraße // köln nippes
this used to be a place where adults were looked after and now it is one of the children where the only really exhilarating thing is the joy of playing.

Any serious beer drinker that really appreciates good beer will tell you they think about their last beer. You want it to be a good one. That last beer was good enough to be a last beer...so here is a New Glarus Kölsch, slightly sweet but quaffable take on the famous German Ale. This Swiss-American version is fresh as a summer day. It is clean and malty without being too sweet or cloying. A beer to have when you're having more than one.
