If I had a nickel for every time a beast-coded fictional character got absolutely fucked by the story for doing terrible things to get the girl he loved back to safety after she got kidnapped but not really because she doesn't really love him anymore and decided to run away to a band of questionable people that everyone thinks are the bad guys because she was traumatised and he didn't love/tread her the way she wanted I'd have two nickles.

Which isn't much but it's weird it happened twice.

Tw for police brutality, murder

One of my high school friends was murdered by our local cops last week. Ive seen absolutely nobody talking about it, and while im sure Bill would appreciate that, i definitely dont. That being said, im making this post for me and anyone else who has lost sleep over Bill's death, nobody else.

Bill was a uniquely wonderful man. If he'd just met you, he'd stick his hand out and say "Howdy, Bill Factor". He would do things for the fuck of it, or because nobody else would, just to laugh with his friends. He was one of two teenagers i knew who didnt think you had to be mean to be funny. He wore this amazingly tacky christmas suit (blazer and pants) for the holidays, which his sister wore to his funeral yesterday. He was barely 25, disabled, native, queer, and a legally ordained minister. He was the only guy i knew who could be in color guard through high school and then rush a frat in college. Truly if the world is ever going to get better, it takes a whole bunch of people like Bill.

Bill was murdered by two cops with less than 5 years of job experience between the two. Supposedly he was hiding on a strangers balcony before he fired a gun at the officers, but - and i know this is an old ass song - thats complete bullshit. He isnt here to explain what happened, he cant tell us what was going on that night, and i hate that how cops abuse this every time they kill someone.

Isaiah Lewis should have been able to tell his mom why he was doing edibles, get grounded like a normal kid, and graduate high school. Bill Factor should be here to tell his mom what he was doing in some karen's backyard. No parent or grandparent should be at their kids funeral. No one person should be allowed the position of judge, jury, and executioner - especially after only doing his job for a year or two.

If you made it through this long ass post and want to help, put pressure on Edmond PD. Let them know we havent forgotten Isaiah Lewis and we wont forget Bill Factor. Ask the city of Edmond and/or the state of Oklahoma for an external investigation this time. Leave a voicemail that just says their names.

my atla au fanfic pet peeve is people making katara angry or reluctant at zuko joining the group. katara was the FIRST one to trust and forgive zuko. he spent >5min telling her he had a tragic backstory and she was ready to use up her one and only vial of superultramagical healing on a cosmetic problem because it would make him happy.

katara is thee Most forgiving, trusting, and generous of the lot. thats Why she could be betrayed at all. Because she trusted so easily! the fact she holds a grudge at a betrayal that got her best friend killed severely injured does not mean she is anything less than the most trusting and willing to take a chance on others of the group!

if in an alternate universe zuko wound up joining the group earlier or the betrayal never happened she would be the first to accept him, she would welcome him with open arms and fight on his behalf with the groups true skeptic ie sokka

super duper good time to talk about the fascinating grey area of disability occupied by kristen applebees . because there is no way you have a dexterity score of 4 (FOUR!!) without having some noticeable and unusual differences in how your body works & moves! that is lower than the dexterity of most slimes in 5e. that is ONE point higher than the dexterity of a GELATINOUS CUBE. here is a small sampling of creatures from 5e d&d:

Thats two oozes and a snail. They have 5 dexterity each.

Like, 8 dex is uncoordinated. 6 dex is majorly clumsy. 4 dex is, like… I mean, imagine a giant snail trying to cook breakfast. Then make it clumsier. That’s the canonical dexterity level of kristen applebees.

the factual out-of-universe explanation for this is that Ally had never played d&d before when they made kristen and didn’t realize dex was a bad dump stat (iconic). But the fun thing about actual play is that the mechanics are in-universe canon, whether or not they have an in-universe explanation. Even if they aren’t *narratively* canon, they’re *mechanically* canon. So it’s canon that Kristen is clumsier than a CR 1/2 blob of grey goop— and that she and her friends accommodate it! her low dex factors into the kind of checks she’s willing to attempt, it factors into how her friends budget healing and protective spells for her in combat and SO ON! ally TALKS ON THE SHOW about how kristen’s exceptionally low dex makes things significantly harder & how it means there’s a lot of checks and saves that kristen Mechanically Cannot Pass without critting.

even though her having some type of movement ‘disorder’ is not narratively canon, it is *mechanically* canon. humans just Aren’t That Uncoordinated unless there’s something different/unusual going on with their bodies! it may never be explored narratively (which is fine) but kristen does have some sort of physical disability in canon. and that makes me kind of happy :]
