I absolutely agree that actively hating on JK is veryyy uncalled for when we can see Jikook doing great and we don't have all the bts information. Lately, though, I've also seen a lot of Jikook accts minimizing what happened to FACE and Jimin. Celebrating JK's achievements is one thing but I cannot stand to see jkks of all ppl downgrading what happened to Jimin and his records as they're broken by the extra push the company gives JK. Everyone is speculating and trying their best to understand things and for some, that's sidelining Jimin as an accessory to make it make sense. There needs to be fair discourse in all sides of this community without romanticizing the darker parts of it. It's not JK's fault and we don't know all, but we still need to be able to talk about it. Like the fact that some of LC's numbers disappeared right when Seven needed space on the Korean charts. i keep this blog for myself, first and foremost. for my own enjoyment! i like to come here and hang out, talk about what’s on my mind — be it bits and pieces of my life or sharing the thoughts that plague me regarding our beloved pixels, and sometimes i write. i am sure many signed up after coming across my content in the tags and then chose to leave bc this girl is not a regular AHAHAH, but i talk a lot and while certainly this is annoying to some, others find it entertaining and hang out with me!

when i was super anxious about posting regularly, writing-wise and not just concepts and rambles, in the past, i didn’t quite enjoy my stay here. it felt like a chore or a job, it was exhausting tbh. i’ve also come to realize that ppl don’t expect anything from me, it’s me who does that. so, now i do whatever i want AHAHAH — i talk bunch and when inspiration strikes i write, and those who enjoy my online presence overall (regardless of what i put on their dash) stay, while those who no longer fw it leave (and that’s completely valid!) and i know how everyone always talks about this but actually realizing it for yourself is so freeing

i appreciate u actually taking the time to explain ur thoughts re: sam’s acting but i have to say i disagree. the accent fixation seems silly to me bc nobody bar maybe jacob has a perfect accent (delainey’s is particularly inconsistent, but who cares). it at least makes sense for lestat’s accent to be confused? he’s been around for hundreds of years, grew up in rural 18th century france and all accents have evolved since then… he’s lived in a bunch of different places, spoken multiple languages, like genuinely what do ppl want him to sound like? i think his accent/voice works perfectly for the role. jacob is incredible but there are a ton of subtleties in sam’s acting too (e.g. nuances in each perception or iteration of lestat) and it’s rly annoying that that ppl praising him is dismissed as just liking the “white and loud” character. basically saying anyone who’s favorite performer is sam only feels that way bc of racial bias when it’s a perfectly valid opinion (as is the case to prefer someone else)? ur obviously influenced by ur own ambivalence towards him as a character/actor. among fans (critics do tend to focus on jacob/sam) i’ve seen nothing but tons and tons of praise for assad, jacob and delainey bc i try and curate my circle w ppl who appreciate the entire cast. but also — wdym it took ppl 5 hours to compliment anyone else after ep 7 — i was on twitter when it dropped and tons of ppl were giving jacob and delainey their props?

I was comparing the accent between S1 and S2. It abruptly changed and I couldn't see a reason why? Armand's changes too but it's in character for why and then other ppl's are sometimes actor's own limitations. It's w/e tho tbh, it just pulled me out of a lot of it bcuz I don't remember being conscious of it in S1 like that.

A lot of what ppl like is that he fits a "fun" flamboyant, white, gay character and that's a lot of all we ever hear about. OKAY SO admittedly I mostly only know the story through reading Guz’s wiki page a few times (teehee) and through osmosis from the general fandom dsgjkl, i want to play the game one day and maybe read the manga, and I’ve watched the anime eps he’s featured in and that’s all i’m watching of that LOL. I haven’t actually experienced much of his story (or su/mo in general) first-hand myself though fdsjkl

after the events of su/mo, I don’t think he’d actually disband Team Skull because… what is the point of that honestly LOL, so Team Skull stays together in MY version of the world hehe. they’re required to do community service to make up for whatever shenanigans they get up to, but they stop stealing pokemon and move onto just like… graffiti and casual pranks and stuff. they still cause trouble, but it’s mostly mischief now rather than any actual crime. I set them up to work on murals for shop owners around the islands so they can spraypaint and be artistic that way rather than randomly tagging walls and getting into trouble for it fjdskl. they keep their disdain for authority figures and rules because at the end of the day most of them are rowdy teens who feel outcasted from society, and that’s just the way the ball rolls with them (also a certain level of that is healthy and warranted tbh). I work with Plumeria to organize events and outings (outside of community service) for the squad though, which helps give everyone healthier outlets for their energy and focus.

Hala mentors Guz to help put him onto (and keep him on) the right track, and Guz learns to appreciate the islands and their traditions a bit - even if he still doesn’t agree with all of them. Part of that mentorship is also sort of therapy (in a more holistic naturally-occurring way rather than like... clinical therapist sitting with patient), so trauma gets unpacked and healthier ways of handling emotions are learned and implemented. Also fuck the Aether Foundation HFDSJKL I keep Guz far away from Lusamine and make sure she never gets close to him again (idk what Gladion and Lillie get up to, I haven’t thought enough about them yet fsjkl). There’s a lot of healing and self-improvement and learning how to Be A PersonTM for both of us tbh!

Beyond that, it is mostly just regular Alola/island living!! Beach visits, walking around, getting ice cream and popsicles, casual battles with tourists, catching wimpods, all that sort of thing :] Also we visit Sinnoh (my home region) for half the year (i have… a whole schedule worked out for that actually LOL) so there’s that, too.

as for the plushie omg thank u sm WAUGH :D i cannot tell if it’s just because i have a weird hodge-podge skillset but i DO think it is not actually all that difficult !!! you just need a pattern for cutting the felt and then I learned the ladder stitch for hand-sewing, and it’s been very straightforward on how to sew the pieces together!! the hardest part so far has just been the hair because I have a difficult time translating 2D images to 3D reality in that way.

I just really want to encourage ppl to try their hand at new crafts and creative skills because I think it’s really fun and honestly really good for ppls well-being!! i am very passionate about making creativity accessible to people as much as possible!!! maybe i could make a tutorial or smth… the pattern I'm using is free and available on the creator’s website, and it’s genuinely not that difficult esp compared to some other things i’ve tried my hand at in the past LOL I feel like some of my paper mache projects have been more complex than this lil goober!!

yeah (good written) horror pron (as in with legit pron) would do that to ya, theyre not that common though, which is unfortunate as it’s a niche thing i wouldve loved to see more of. pretty rare to find a good / decent story with both horror and pron, more so with the character leads surviving in the end. you’ll find more of these in animation, but in the live action ones (which…i don’t usually browse for, tbh), it’s a huge hit or miss with mostly on the miss since what ive seen is literally just pron on the horror setting and that is it. :\

i also paralleled the scarf to another less commonly known story, The Woman With the Ribbon Around Her Neck, in which if the ribbon is removed, the woman basically falls apart. you can assume that the scarf could potentially do the same, getting it removed would have the neighbor ‘falling’ apart, so to say. the reader walked on him ‘falling’ apart the seconds after he’d discarded his scarf to let his ‘skin’ breathe or whatever.

another way is that, he was hiding the scars you'd have commonly seen with the dead who’d undergone the autopsy, but the stitches couldn’t keep him ‘together’ well enough so he’d have to wear a scarf and everything else to hide the fact that he was basically a walking corpse slash a monster possessing a human skin. the reader walked on him and caught the sight of his abnormal stitches and the neighbor probably started overreacting upon seeing his darling and tore himself out of his body or something. idk.

those are just several possibilities though (i…actually liked them all and i couldn’t decide on which to implement), but all revolving around the fact that the neighbor obviously never wanted to show any bit of naked skin but his face for good reasons + the reader being oblivious / a bit pushy about it.

i actually tried to have the story to sound a little like a common myth to teach a lesson about being too curious / too trusting but idk if that came cross that clearly.

Honestly same, I’m confused as to how exactly “proship” became commonly used but I think it originally was meant as a “live and let live” attitude towards shipping where ppl can do whatever they want (even if it’s problematic or fetishistic or taboo) as long as it’s properly tagged and you don’t harass ppl over it. But I think ppl use it to mean whatever they want it to mean nowadays, especially if it’s to accuse ppl of shipping something they consider “sinful” (see my post about puritanical online fandom culture) or simply something outside their personal taste. It’s extremely petty and juvenile imo 😒🙄

points you to this ask i got:

the main issue is that writers of xreaders don't consistently tag, use a million different kind of tags, or do other things to bypass filtering. if you look in the tags and replies of the original post, you can see many people complaining about no matter how much content they try and filter, some always slip through the cracks. there's no catchall that most writers consistently use, like 'selfship' 'x reader' 'fandom x reader' or 'reader insert' or anything of the like. some people may, but from an outsider perspective it feels very random and inconsistent. in the post itself they'll write x!reader such as f!reader or fem!reader or whatever other demographic it's written for, which can make it slip through an 'x reader' content filter. people blaze or even sponsor their posts, forcing it on people's dashes whether they want it or not (which is a total shot in the dark tbh, these posts are meant for a specific target audience and anyone who wants it is going to be actively looking for it anyway, not sure why you'd want to spend money on it). then i've seen people say that writers started putting image headers on their posts so that it would show up when people filter search to photo posts. basically no matter how much people try to filter out the content, the posts find a way to make it through, and that can be very frustrating to people (especially to the few who are made very uncomfortable by those types of posts). and then people won't put readmores on their posts so that they're just putting a 2k+ word post in the tags/on ppls dashes and Nobody on tumblr likes having to scroll past a long post.

the post i made was not triggered by anything, it was just a thought that i had and posted. i tend to avoid looking through tags now because i don't want to have to deal with wading through a bunch of posts that are impossible to avoid. there is no easy way to just block the content because if there was, i wouldn't have made that post and nobody would be reblogging it.

pls dont get mad at me, im icked out with it too. but i dont get ppl wanting ai fanfic to get banned tbh. im saying this as someone who wrote (manually) ever since im 13. its just, who is materially harmed by someone posting a chatgpt drabble about their ships? unless money was involved, i really dont think it matters at all. sure the ai writing would be bad and goes against the spirit of transformative fiction but its not like its stealing people's jobs.

the authors who got their writing stolen for data training? wait, arent fanfics supposed to be free for all? its inconsistent that people can duplicate, remix, and adapt any fanfic in whatever they like but once someone used a tool that expedite the process its suddenly wrong. also, its doesnt count as plagiarism (stealing) if the only thing thats similar is the tone, premise and the plot. if an ai writing turns out to be identical in style with a plagiarism checker then sure, take it down.

on the contrary, people trying to ban bot-like writing at the moment would hurt beginners trying to write and sometimes even experienced authors who just like writing one single trope. and, i dont think you can actually suppress ai development with the current state of things so even if the larger community did agree on banning chatgpt fics, by the time thats done, the technology have moved on to perfectly mimic human writing and the people who do use gpt would hide that they use this tool. a bigger nightmare scenario tbh.

also, the ao3 moderators have been failing to remove child porn and literal hate crime writings for years, i dont think they can enforce moderation for this. you can hate ai writing, its your prerogative. i personally wouldnt read something if its has the chatgpt label, i dont like it, but the backlash so far arent rooted in reality imo. personal feeling is one thing, but determining a site wide policy on ao3 based on feelings and sentiments like effort and authenticity without examining pre-existing laws and if the things you wanted to ban are actually taking people's livelihoods away are just silly and oftentimes ended up replicating some really nasty prejudices (see : some people who ended up repeating ableist inspiration porn talking points and corporate ip law propaganda when they advocate for banning ai art in general)

my personal solution for the whole thing is simply more accountability. anyone who wants to write ai are allowed to do so, but they must tag it as such. if their friends refuse to read their writing because they feel cheated by this ai, if people keep putting their fic under rigorous plagiarism checking then its their risk.

Saw my first post with someone admitting they used chatGPT to ‘write a fic’ which they then shared here on tumblr and on Ao3.

To be clear, using AI to churn out a piece of fiction is not writing.

Using a bot (possibly one that was trained using a scrape of Ao3, that is to say, the theft of work from every writer who has posted their work on Ao3) is NOT WRITING.

It is theft. It isn’t creation. It’s a regurgitation of the consumed collective work and effort and heart and time of every writer who has shared their work on Ao3.

‘I’m not a good writer’ is no excuse.

Want to be a writer? Put in the time everyone else does to practice.

Don’t feel confident in your work? Open yourself up to the same vulnerability and risk that the rest of us do.

You don’t get to use a fucking bot to vomit out an approximation of a story and pretend you’ve got skin in the game.

The sad thing? This bot-assembled fic wasn’t bad. It was bland, but it had internal logic, some passing context to character and canon. It wasn’t like those early AI art pieces that had surreal compositions and extra fingers. It wasn’t immediately obvious it was made by a bot.

In this instance the person who posted it admitted they had used a bot. Which, actually, I have some respect for. But it probably isn’t the first and it won’t be the last.

I don’t know that there’s a solution to this, but it is both hurting my heart and enraging me.
