My brother and I's card game is very serious in tone, which is why today we made sure to give every faction in the game a removal card with a pun for a name
#they're all in german and don't really work in english or I'd give examples#they're pretty much all innocuous phrases or sayings#which in the art are then recontextualized into terrible graphic violent deaths#my brother did most of the work#I only came up with like 3 of the 8 puns#but I did come up with the one we both think is funniest so there's that#he also made all the art#and wrote some very funny flavor text#mechanically the cards are all the same#just super basic removal#about as basic as it can get in this game#only the same limitations that most removal has#but unlike most removal they're not damage based and just kill directly

*me immediately after going through a terrifying and traumatic experience* haha yeah I guess it was rough but I'm fine now like I'm totally chill. It was kinda funny actually if you think about it
#GUESS WHO GOT A PIERCING INFECTION SO BAD OVERNIGHT SHE HAD TO RUSH TO THE HOSPITAL#AND GET SURGERY TO REMOVE IT BC THE METAL WAS BURROWING ITSELF INSIDE HER LIP#yep that was meee :3#man. it sounds so silly now. like that probably shouldn't have made me panic nearly as much as it did#but you have to understand at the time it was terrifying#I noticed my lip was a bit swollen earlier in the night but I was like ok it's probably nothing serious#I put some ice on it hoping it would be back to normal after I got some sleep#then I woke up at like 5:30 AM with my lip super swollen and my lip piercing literally burying itself inside my flesh#I tried pushing it back out a bit and blood and pus started coming out so yk I started panicking#so I went upstairs and I asked my mom to drive me to the hospital#luckily we have free healthcare in brazil and the hospital was basically empty(this was on sunday)#but when I got there they told me the doctor wouldn't arrive until 8AM and it was like 6:45 at that point#so I REALLY started panicking 🫠 bc I could feel like the piercing kept burying itself more deeply like#I felt like the skin inside my lip was going to close around it and I was terrified bc I had no idea what to do#and I was scared it might make things worse#but all I could do was sit there and wait and so I started having a panic attack#luckily my mom was there with me the whole time so at least I didn't feel alone#and then I just. waited for it to end. and then tried to keep myself distracted until the doctor got there#I got treated by military doctors! sjdjcjck the army has been giving additional support for hospitals in my city#bc of the floods some health units are currently closed and demand got higher so they needed extra support there#so an army doctor performed my surgery(inside an army tent no less ajfjjfkf maybe not ideal but. functional)#he was so nice?? like probably the calmest most careful doctor I've ever been treated by#I still had a bit of a nervous breakdown again after the surgery but that was bc I'd never been through something like that before#I got anesthesia obvs but I still felt the tug when he cut into my skin to remove the piercing and did my stitches#so my mind started cooking up all these horrible scenarios of how everything could go wrong and I was gonna die#cried on the doctor's table. 👍🏻 awesome#but he and his assistant were super nice about it she even offered me a hug#but anyway in the end I finally calmed down and got some medication#now I'm all stitched up with my little bloated lip eating soup out of a straw 👍🏻 but I'm ALIVE and I'm just glad it's all over fjjvjkf#sleep.txt

But what if Koyuki became a ghost, like, mere hours after her death? She was so very determined to not let her fiancé suffer another awful loss that she just noped out of heaven. She has a wonderful boy to marry and cherish, thank you very much!
Sadly she gets to him after Muzan does. At which point Hakuji is busy being driven insane by the hunger of a newly-born demon. Good thing that there's precisely sixty-seven freshly killed bodies near him!
Point is. Koyuki being with him as soon as he regains his senses (she had the very good idea to stay away from Muzan, he gave her a very bad feeling). Obviously he doesn't remember anything but I think having a living breathing reminder of his past with him would make him remember real fast. So he would still go by Hakuji I think.
Koyuki learns how to make herself solid enough to touch things after a few months or a few years, and Hakuji and her spend a very long time not letting go of each other's hands. Once she is able to touch things, being a ghost becomes much less sad. She can stay with Hakuji forever, there is literally no downside to that!
Koyuki being a ghost is also much less angsty than it sounds because now she's functionally invincible : she can't die of old age, blows and blades go through her, and she can't be poisoned since she can't eat. Really, not being able to eat is the saddest thing about being dead, but she figures that since Hakuji is unable to eat human food now it's only fair that she can't either! The vows say in sickness and in health after all.
Speaking of. They don't actually stay engaged that long. Of course, the wedding of a ghost and a demon sounds like a joke, but once Hakuji masters shapeshifting enough to make himself look human it's not that hard to find a priest who'd marry them (really the hardest part is to convince the priest to hold the ceremony when the sun's down). So they've actually been married for a long time when canon comes in!
Koyuki thinks that Hakuji's pink hair is soooo cute. She's also aware that his hair color and the snowflake of his demon art come from her, and she's super touched. She kind of regrets not being able to change clothes, she'd like to wear things blue like Hakuji's eyes!
Obviously having his memories since almost the beginning means that Hakuji faces a certain dilemna when it comes to eating. Koyuki helps him with finding a solution, and after a while they figure that Hakuji can go the scavenger route - find bodies that have been freshly killed so he doesn't need to kill - or eat horrible people, which is still murder but eh you do what you gotta do.
Koyuki and Hakuji, free from human restrictions, travel the whole country several times over. They don't fear illness or the elements anymore - they can play in the rain or in the snow and climb freezing mountains and neither of them needs to breathe so they can dive into the oceans mingling with the fish for hours. For Koyuki, who's always been so restricted by her frail body, this is nothing short of a dream come true. And she gets to spend eternity with her husband!
Koyuki manages to avoid Muzan's awareness by virtue of being able to be invisible and having no presence to speak of. Hakuji can feel her spirit like he can everyone's, but she has no smell and no mass and she is dead so if she goes invisible no one can know she's here except Hakuji.
Hakuji and Koyuki don't try to break the curse Hakuji is under because they're not aware it can be broken. They don't like Muzan at all but they don't have any other choice.... Of course Hakuji once tried to tell Koyuki that she wasn't bound to his master, so she could leave if she wanted to, but he didn't even get to finish his sentence before getting yelled at. At some point they learn of Tamayo, though, and, well.... It's a very interesting thing to learn.
Also! Koyuki being dead means that she's absolutely sturdy enough to learn Soryuu! I think she would want to learn to honor her father and also because Hakuji finds so much joy in it and she wants to share that with him. She's not much for fighting, and they both try to avoid demon slayers because those guys are just doing their job and they feel bad if Hakuji has to kill one of them (and anyway Hakuji is actually pretty low-key as far as demons go, what with being mostly a scavenger... And they move around a lot so they're pretty untraceable - all in all Hakuji is pretty much never specifically hunted by demon slayers).
They spend much of their time holding hands because even after centuries they're still ridiculously in love, and they may in fact have some separation anxiety (you can't blame them, the last time they were separated ended very badly for both of them).
They go see the fireworks every year and visit Keizo's grave often to tell him about their travels :)
Also! Just thought about this but I remember reading somewhere that Akaza's demon marks were actually related to his thief tattoos in the sense that they were marks of his crimes. But like. Are we talking murdered-67-swordsmen kind of crimes or killed-and-ate-people kind of crimes? Because if it's the latter, then it means that the marks developed over time (weird to think about) but also that in this au he might not have those marks at all since he kills. WAY LESS people than he presumably does in canon. Like he's mostly a scavenger which still falls under "eating humans" but....... Idk the point is that in this au Hakuji might have way less or different demon markings.

#critical class analysis of mdzs when???? when will i write it when????#but like.#like#fuck okay i love how it ends#because i love a happy ending#but i just keep thinking about how su she and ESP jin guangyao are right that… they kinda… had to do what they did#like su she has a few more blunders and he’s clearly jealous/resentful but… he’s not necessarily wrong about being looked down on in the la#for reasons he can’t really control#and jgy… where to even begin like okay he shouldn’t have done all those horrible things#but they ALL did horrible things#the difference is that jgy did not have anyone backing him if he fucked up if he wanted to live in dignity#he had to make sure his spot was secure#lxc lwj and whoever else was in the guanyin temple can judge him all they want#but except for wwx they’re all clan leaders or uncontested heirs#they have a level of wealth & security that allows them to make judgements on the actions of others#knowing that they can act basically free from lasting consequence#the only person who isn’t immune is wei wuxian but even then… he had the jiang clan in the past#which. it’s complicated. i know it’s complicated.#but he did attain a lot of privilege thru his connection with them and they did protect him as much as they reasonably could have#in the circumstances they were given#for the most part#and then in the future he has lan wangji who will literally kill anyone that comes at him#makes sure he’s warm and fed and kept entertained and away from pesky things like#responsibilities#and difficult conversations#so even tho he once knew a life like jgy’s he’s so far removed from it now#and just#sorry there’s a reason why all of this is in the tags#it’s not super clear in my head yet#but this is the start i promise i will come back to it

someone commented on an old post of mine that sonia wasnt fridged bc shes relevant to the plot and i have been thinking about it for an hour bc i dont think thats an actual get out of jail card for that .... also ... what does she do? be raurus way to cement himself as da king? give some half assed advice to zelda, that has no pay off unless you count zelda time reversing a bunch of weapons*, and then immediately dies just so zelda can essentially replace her and make rauru regret he didnt stab ganondorf right when he showed up in their temple i guess ?? (which is questionable on its own imo)
(*its not a good pay off for powers she was suddendly revealed to always have had(tm) and also is only ever used to .... welll, get zelda out of the way back in time, reverse a few weapons and .. idk create a ham fisted way to give the player her gimmick?)
even if she doesnt technically meet the requirements(lol?) to be called fridged like .. she is spiritually at least for how irrelevant and cheapely killed off she was

One thing I really wish the FF Community would Stop doing is Removing All Nuance from the Parents in Those Stories in order to Make Them Abusive Supervillains who Never Loved their Kid.
Like... In the Four Years I've been here, and for how Small the Community really is, you'd be surprised how many Times I've seen it-
#The Most Prominent (and Worst) Example I can Give is with Alec’s Mother#Like... Yeah- She listens to Fucking Books and is a Karen basically- She's not a Good Mother#But making her into an Abusive Mother who Never Loved Alec and just wants to Control Him?? I think we read the Wrong Book Guys-#That Removes alot of the Tragedy in Lonely Freddy- The Fact that Things could've Gotten Better if they just Talked#But they can't anymore since Alec is Trapped in a Dumpster...#There's also plenty of More Examples I can Give#Devon's Mother isn’t Abusive or Homophobic- She’s a Struggling Woman who was Abused herself (Devon’s Father threw things at her)#Which in turn from that Struggle- Has made her Neglectful of Him#I can't really say much for Pete's Mom since I forgot alot of Step Closer- but making her a Comical Abusive Mother probably isn’t accurate.#I even once saw Oswald's Dad get Villainized and Like... We definitely must've read the wrong story cause the worst thing I remember him#doing is getting upset at Oswald for going Into the Pit#It's usually always the Mothers who get Villainized tho- Like... ohh that is a fantastic question. it’d probably make sense for them to be ghosts? or no wait actually im a genius. it’s a mixed ghost/human organization that kinda sets and enforces ghost rules & does their best to manage ghost/human relations. like u can’t really fully control a whole population of ghosts, they’ll still cause problems and shenanigans and stuff, but they do generally deal with untangling situations like mk’s.
#ask!!#anon ask!!#world's most haunted guy au#idk if this description makes sense#but like. mk’s situation of being long-term bound to a ghost is very unusual#normally in situations like mk’s the celestials (which is NOT their official name i just don’t know what it would be) would catch it#and undo the ghost-human bond before it sets and becomes a LOT more dangerous to remove#however wukong is kind of a ghost criminal? so he wasn’t exactly thrilled at the idea of going to them#and by the time he stopped putting it off the bond had already become basically permanent#also i’m not 100% sure what nezha is doing other than probably comedically getting his ass kicked on occasion#they also regulate ghost hunters btw#less overtly since a lot of ghost hunters aren’t actually super Aware of the ghosts?#mk and mei could probably get internships or smth if they actually wanted to. which they don’t bc crime is more fun

Guys what if ex-villain Misako? What if the reason why Lloyd went to Darkly’s isn’t because of Garmadon, it’s because Misako has personal connections. And while she isn’t evil anymore, it would make sense as to why she opted to leave Lloyd, yknow. Like she thought she wouldn’t be a good parent. And also why she dated Garmadon in the first place. Also it makes their relationship so interesting. Rage filled person who is trying to fight the temptation to be evil x seeming innocent secretly devious person. It would be great.
#every Misako post I make gets harder and harder to understand because the misako in my head so far removed from canon#like I usually try and make content as in character as possible but like in canon she kinda has no character#okay for those are confused by my take on Misako here’s a recap#i dislike the writing of Misako but I think she has potential to be really interesting and I’m super invested in my own rewrite of her#this Misako has the personality of an uncle who is a bad influence#like she’s chill and reckless and she cares more about the thrill of adventure instead of safety responsibilities or rules#and then there’s wusako rivalry#no romance just biting#Wu and Misako hate each other and at first it seems like it’s because of their personality differences#but they actually used to be besties but Garmadon secretly caused them to fight and they never got over it#also Misako starts off as basically an absentee parent who left her child to go do archeological to cope with her family issues#but she character develops and decides she does care about Lloyd and whilst she’s nowhere near perfect she’s attempting to be better#like she and Lloyd are still super awkward and she’ll still disappear without a trace but she like brings Lloyd pottery she finds on her#adventures and they write letters#I’ve made headcanons for what the previous elemental masters were like and I included Misako in the gang and in that she’s so much more#chaotic and I tried to imply she might be hiding some insidious#like her being part of a villain organisation secretly and that org is darkly’s#that’s all my Misako lore#ninjago#lego ninjago#Ninjago misako

tbh i really want to start a small writing group on discord. Like, idk, it feels like having a designated Goal and a deadline to hit with a few other people to keep eachother motivated and be able to just chat with about what everyones story is and just being a lil support group, might be massively helpful in getting shit done.
#like rn my only set in stone ideas about it are 1k word goal with a deadline every 2weeks#on that deadline everyone who met the 1k goal can submit their 1k (or 1k worht of however much they wrote) and it will be added to a doc#everyone can then look at and anonymously vote on who did the goodest job that week.#the winner gets a special role that does nothing and is entirely bragging rights until the next vote#with no one being allowed to win twice in a row and thus giving the winners a temporary extension on their 1k#since they dont have to have it done for a whole month#The stories would probably have to be edited to remove easily identifiable info that might have been discussed in the other channels tho#like character names and places being swapped for standins#idk that just seems cute and friendly but besides dming parties made up of random redditors bc i dont have a lot of friends#i have basically no modding experience and so dont know how Suited id be to taking on that kind of responsibility#and like im talking 12 people max in the group to prevent it becoming super overwhelming for anyone and keep it all like#cordial and friendly bc as groups get bigger its more likely for folk to get pushed out or talked over

I think about this one post that was like "we should all act a little more like boomers to save money they return shit all the time and get their money back meanwhile youre too nervous to correct someone when they get your order wrong" because its true. Just start trying to return things. Obviously dont be obnoxious to the customer service but at least try!
#when i bought one of those bullets era shirt reprints warner was selling the quality was so shit i was like yo massive company i want a#refund and they wanted me to send it back and pay for a return label first but i said no yall were the one that sent me a bad product#eventually they were like here we paid for the return shipping label and then they never actually sent it to me and had me try to work it#out on my own with ups but they were super wrong about what ups could do with the info they gave me so they ended up just refunding my#entire order shipping cost and all#this post is because i bought transtape and its basically impossible to remove without enduring 5/10 pain so i politely asked if i could do#a return or a refund and they refunded the cost of the roll (but not the shipping thats ok tho)

#wooo tag rant!#this feels too silly to talk to friends about (and also feels a little like bragging which I’m NOT but)#but some stuff has happened in the last week that made me sad so. here we are.#for some context: I’ve always loved music. I sang constantly when I was younger (much to my parents amusement and therefore belittling)#I took piano lessons for five years and cello for three or four#both of those my parents were hugely supportive of#but neither of them were really It for me#I really really wanted to sing#finally in early middle school I talked my mom into letting me take a group voice class at our nearby music school#I didn’t think that would go anywhere of course#but the teacher of the class disagreed#she moved her entire schedule around to make room for me to take lessons with her#she immediately had me fast tracked to the basically honors program in the school. super performance based super exclusive#I’m pretty sure she tried to get lesson prices lowered for me#it was. amazing.#and also the first time I really felt like an adult thought I had potential for something?#I took lessons with her for a few years. I was about to be accepted into the honors program. and then I got my wisdom teeth removed.#tldr we don’t really know what the fuck happened but the muscles in my jaw went insane. I was in constant pain for like two years.#I tried to stick with voice but I just. had to quit.#I went back with a different teacher later in high school but had to deal with Constant complaints about it from my parents.#and when that teacher fell through I just. stopped trying.#my jaw is a lot better now. but I still don’t sing much because it all just. makes me so sad.#it’s this constant reminder of pain and having to quit something I’d dreamed about for Years and having my parents just… not care.#I’m just. so angry and sad.#this was something I loved. and I was good at it.#and now I barely sing in private.#I went to a cool chapel a few days ago that had amazing acoustics and was empty. and it was the first time I had fun singing in. years.#but then I tried again today and felt miserable.#idk.#I miss singing. I miss music.

gonna show u guys a little opalescent highlight hack i threw together today
rainbow gradient above your main figure (i usually have all my main figure folders/layers in one big folder, so i can clip gradient maps + adjustments to it!). liquify tool to push the colors around a bit. STAY WITH ME I KNOW IT LOOKS STUPID RN I'M GOING SOMEWHERE WITH THIS
THEN: set it to add/glow (or the equivalent in ur drawing program), lower the opacity a bit, and apply a layer mask. then u can edit the mask with whatever tools you like to create rainbow highlights!!
in this case i'm mostly using the lasso fill tool to chip out little facets, but i've also done some soft airbrushing to bring in larger rainbow swirls in some areas. it's pretty subtle here, but you can see it better when i remove the gradient map that's above everything, since below i'm working in greyscale:
more granular rambling beneath the cut!
u could also just do this with a brush that has color jitter, but what i like about using layer masks for highlight/shading layers is how simple and reversible it makes everything. i can use whatever brushes i want, and erasing/redoing things is super low stakes, which is great when i often approach this stuff with a super trial-and-error approach.
example: have u ever thrown a gradient w multiple colors over an entire piece, set it to multiply etc, and then tried to erase it away to carve out shadows/highlights? it's super frustrating, bc it looks really good, but if u erase something and then change ur mind later, u basically would have to like. recreate the gradient in the area u want to cover up again. that's how i used to do things before figuring out layer masks!! but masking basically creates a version of this with INFINITE undo bc u can erase/re-place the base layer whenever u want.
anyway, back to rambling about this specific method:
i actually have TWO of these layers on this piece (one with the liquified swirls shown above, and another that's just a normal concentric circle gradient with much broader stripes) so i can vary the highlights easily as needed.
since i've basically hidden the rainbow pattern from myself, the colors in each brushstroke i make will kind of be a surprise, which isn't always great -- but easily fixable! for example, if i carve out a highlight and it turns out the rainbow pattern in that area is way too stripey, i can just switch from editing the mask to editing the main layer and blur that spot a bit.
also, this isn't a full explanation of the overall transparency effect in these screencaps! there's other layer stuff happening below the rainbow highlights, but the short version is i have all this character's body parts in different folders, each with their own lineart and background fill, and then the fill opacity is lowered and there's multiply layers clipped to that -- blah blah it's a whole thing. maybe i'll have a whole rundown on this on patreon later. uhhh i think that's it tho! i hope u get something useful out of this extremely specific thing i did lmao
