Blitz and social class rage- because I have no chill and like to write about uncomfortable things.
We've seen a lot of hints (reactions to how Stolas addresses him as "little," confrontation with Striker in Harvest Moon), but I think that we see that rage at its most intense here and here.

The symbolism in both of these scenes has been analyzed a ton by now, and I don't think the parallels in subject matter are accidental- both are essentially Blitz going into a terrified rage (are fear and anger linked for him?) at the idea- an untrue one based in real social class problems- that Stolas could never respect him.
There's imagery of Blitz as a servant in both scenes. Sillhouettes of Blitz fan Stolas in his drug trip in Truth Seekers. He adjusts his bow tie and claims that Stolas treats him like one of his butler imps during his rant in Full Moon.

But the anger Blitz feels about this ALSO came out, more subtly, in my most replayed couple of minutes in Oops (seriously- when I clicked on Oops to find screenshots, I was already paused here).
It's the scene where Blitz won't stop talking about how little Stolas cares about him, and Fizz gets fed up with him denying the obvious. It leads into a back and forth with Striker about social class and relationships with royals. It's one of those shippy moments that I watched on repeat to reassure myself that stolitz is mutual while we waited for Full Moon. Because it's clear in that clip that he CARES deeply about Stolas as much as he denies it.
But wait. When he calls Stolas a "fake privileged asshole . . ."

There's real resentment (and fear? hurt?) there. I mean the guy is fucking furious- it's also the side view with the sharp teeth and narrowed eyes again. This is not the face of a man who's just upset because the guy he likes doesn't like him back. This is deep hurt, and yes, anger. It hurts to see him feeling resentful toward Stolas because I love Stolas and love the potential they have together.
So what gives? Why is this anger/fear so intense that he can't see that potential? I saw a lot of speculation before Full Moon that Blitz might have another royal ex who we have yet to learn about, or that he was devastatingly wronged by one of Hell's higher ups in the past.
I don't think that's necessary personally. I think Blitz is angry about a lifetime of micro-aggressions and racial slurs, at living in a world where people are surprised that he's an imp who runs a business, etc., and that's enough. He's angry because he was taught from childhood that he was dispensable (not me taking a dig at Cash again just because). He's angry at himself for having feelings for Stolas, for feeling comfortable cuddled up next to him when he snapped that one picture on his phone, for wanting what seems impossible.
Blitz has anger issues beyond this- there's no doubt about that. And I think A LOT of it comes down to his self-hatred and inability to process the hurt and fear that simmer underneath. But yeah, there's legitimate anger about race and class issues there too, maybe misdirected at Stolas, but absolutely reflecting a reality in the hellaverse.

“We have 30 minutes,” Chris whispered against the shell of your ear, his hand resting against the small of your back.

The second the changing room’s door shut and the lock clicked into place, you wasted no time in sinking to your knees in front of him - hardwood floors be damned. So how old is Odysseus exactly?
A small Odysseus age analysis based on a description in the Iliad
Many make speculations of his age, me included. Interestingly we have several hints in both art and the scripts but is hard to pinpoint. In general Odysseus is considered old or one of the oldest generations among the poems.
In art he is always depicted bearded which is something only men in maturity have in ancient greek art (somewhere between the late 20s early 30s) and his beard is full indicating that he is at least in his 30s. Most art of his, ranges from the events of the Trojan war till his journey and the murder of the suitors. In all cases we see him having a full beard. So it is pretty hard to determine his age but we know he was at least 30 in the war making him at his final 40s or early 50s when he comes back home depending on interpretation.
In the Iliad in the 23rd rhapsody/book we have an interesting description by Antilochus

"And this one (Odysseus) is of an earlier/previous generation of earlier men; we call him "omogeronda" (early-old man, green old age); yet he is really hard to be competed against in speed (lit: his feet are troublesome to compete) by the Achaeans, except from Achilles"
For starters he clearly states that he is "one generation older" (προτέρης γενεής) but he also calls him with the interesting word "ωμογέρων" which means "raw old man" literally aka "not ripe old age". The word has two possible interpretations; one that he is a "green old man" aka he just began to grow older or to pass to old age and two "a vigorous and lively old man" 😉
Now it could be a tender nickname that they call him "old" but I think the first interpretation fits better to the description. So we know that Odysseus was already mature man when he entered the war (bearded=somewhere in his early 30s and above) and he spent 10 years in the war. We know that he is "one generation older".
The age of marriage differs in ancient greece (for example in 5th century BC Athens, 300 years after Homer's time and almost 1000 years after the time Trojan war took place, the age of marriage for men ideally was 30 years old when they had served their dues although it is unclear how often it was being done this way) but we are to expect that a man in his middle 20s was expected to have at least considered marriage if not already have a spouse and kids. So if Odysseus is "one generation older" on average he is around 20 years older than younger individuals (anywhere between 15-20 years could be closer) such as Diomedes or Antilochus here or Aias. Nestor who was considered an old man was in his 60s. He was still active on the field just not the same way as characters like Odysseus were.
Given the characterization "ωμογέρων" in the Odyssey and the description of him being a generation older than many young heroes I should calculate Odysseus is in the same age group as people like Agamemnon, making him older than other characters like Patroclus who was also generally older (closer to his early or even middle 30s if we assume that Achilles who was repeatedly said to be very young he was in his middle to final 20s during the war). That would make Odysseus a middle aged man and therefore closer in his 40s at the final year of the Trojan war.
My rough estimation is that he is in his early or mid-40s when this conversation takes place. He is middle-aged and yet he is vigorous, sportive and fast (so much so that only Achilles is said to be easily competing against him while most achaeans have hard time to), he is also strong given the many times his strength in spear, sword or bow were praised but at the same time he is obviously past the age of youth. That would make him in his early 50s at least when he arrives in Ithaca.

Why Crowley Was an Archangel, And Why it Matters: A Fan Theory
Neil Gaiman has said that Season 2 is a bridging season, setting up what is to come in Season 3, which will be based on a story he and Pratchett outlined many years ago. This season is therefore moving characters into place and establishing facts and mechanics of the Good Omens universe that we need as an audience in order to understand what comes next. It moved Aziraphale back to Heaven, and removed Gabriel and Beelzebub. This season has also been heavy on the references to Crowley’s past as an angel.
Season 2 of Good Omens has been practically inviting us to speculate on who Crowley used to be. If we’d just been given that one glimpse of him in the first scene I wouldn’t make so much of it, but we also saw him return to heaven in disguise and reject an offer of being returned to full angelic status. We have to conclude that there’s been so many sustained hints at this because it will be important next season!
Some of this has already been suggested by others, but GO2 has taken over my brain and I need to write this all out. So, let’s have a look at what we already know about Crowley’s angelic past in-universe, and what else we might be able to guess at from that. 
What’s special about Crowley’s powers?
Crowley is the only demon or angel who is shown being able to stop time. When asked about this Pre-S2, Neil Gaiman said the following:

We first see him do this in Paris in 1793, and the second time to speak to Adam to avert the apocalypse at the end of S1. The first time was something he did casually, while the second required a huge burst of power – it needed to hold off Satan, after all - and happened at Aziraphale’s urging.
A: Come up with something or… or I'll never talk to you again.

When we see him stop time this season, in Edinburgh in 1827, it’s also directly at Aziraphale’s request:

This bit is absolutely key to me, as this establishes that stopping time is something Crowley can do that Aziraphale cannot.
This also seems tied to the crank handle of his Bentley. When Crowley has stopped time to hold off Satan, he is gripping the handle in the same way Aziraphale carried his flaming sword, and spins in when he comes to restart time.
C: I'm going to start time. You won't have long to do whatever you're going to do.

By itself, this doesn’t mean anything. Until we see the same handle at the start of Season 2, in the hands of Angel Crowley. He uses this to start up his nebula, as a tool for setting time into motion.

Is this the same handle? It certainly appears this way. Like Aziraphale’s flaming sword, was this a gift from God that he’s managed to hang on to for thousands of years (And it just miraculously happens to fit his Bentley)? It certainly seems that the Bentley crankshaft handle is more than it seems, and that Crowley can use it as a conduit for power – as he needed to when stopping time to hold off the ruler of Hell himself.
The link between this object, a relic from his time in heaven, and his rather unique ability to stop time, suggests that Crowley was once an angel of great power.
What rank did he hold?
We saw Crowley return to Heaven, in disguise, in S2 E6, with events hinting that he was once a very high-ranking angel:

So, we know for a fact he was above the level of Thrones and Dominions. So where does this place him on Heaven’s organisational chart? My analysis here is metatextual – I don’t think looking at external hierarchies of angels is that helpful to understanding the Good Omens universe, so I will only focus on what Neil Gaiman has confirmed when asked, or has been demonstrated within the world of the show itself.
Good Omens has its own Hierarchy of Heaven, but Neil Gaiman has clarified that the Archangels we see are amongst the most senior personnel in Heaven. This runs counter to many hierarchies of angels (which are often contradictory in and of themselves) but is consistent with the depiction in John Milton’s Paradise Lost as well as Jewish tradition, where the highest ranking Archangels are given the title of “princes” of heaven. “Prince of Heaven” is also a term that Metatron applies to Gabriel in S2 E6.
Of the heavenly entities mentioned in the show, we can infer the following angelic hierarchy:
God
Metatron (NG confirms here)
Supreme Archangel (Gabriel, now Aziraphale)
Other Archangels (Michael, Uriel, Sandalphon, in that order – See NG here)
Cherubim (Aziraphale at the Garden of Eden, when he was the Angel of the Eastern Gate –NG Confirms here)
Thrones & Dominions
Principalities(?) (Aziraphale after the Garden of Eden – NG doesn’t state if this is a promotion or demotion, but it feels very demotion-y)
Other lower-ranking angels (As a Principality, Aziraphale was supposed to lead a platoon of angels into battle in S1 – so there must be many levels below him – see NG here)
Scrivners (Muriel and the level Gabriel would have been demoted to. Appears to be the lowest rank in Heaven, suggested by NG here)
There are likely many other levels in-between these that have not yet been mentioned onscreen. Saraqael, for example, seems lower down than an Archangel (addressing Michel and Uriel as “your beatitudes” before approaching them in Episode 1), but above Aziraphale. You’ll notice Seraphim aren’t in this list, because they’ve not been mentioned on screen – but I suspect they do exist in this universe and are a class below Archangels but above Cherubim.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that Crowley was an Archangel, but confirms pretty explicitly that he was once near the top.
So who was he?
Neil Gaiman has stated that his name when he was an angel was not Crowley/Crawley, and the first scene of Season 2 sees a bit of redirection when Aziraphale tries to get angel-Crowley’s name:

This is quite deliberate, and sets up his name as something important to be revealed later. However, I can’t see why his name would matter to the narrative, unless it’s something recognisable from biblical canon – or, that it’s not necessarily his name, but his rank as an angel that was important.
There are numerous pointed references throughout Season 2 to Archangels, in such a way that feels like the show is setting up for this to be revealed in the future. The misdirection about Angel-Crowley’s name may have been because Aziraphale was likely to have recognised the name of an Archangel.
More than this, I personally do think, that before his fall Crowley wasn’t just any old Archangel, but the Supreme Archangel. This is based on the following 7 points (you know God likes sevens):
The very deliberate way the camera pans to Crowley’s impassive face after Gabriel says “I’m the only first-order Archangel in the room or, you know, the universe.”

2. Metatron’s statement, “For one Prince of Heaven to be cast into the outer darkness makes a good story. For it to happen twice, makes it look like there is some kind of institutional problem.”

While it’s quite clear that we’re supposed to associate this line with Lucifer himself (and yes, I know NG confirms that's who this was alluding to!), it’s interesting that ‘Prince of Heaven’ is a title associated with Archangels in Jewish tradition and very specifically with Gabriel on screen in the universe of the series. That Jimbriel also repeats this line to Crowley in the bookshop specifically feels significant...
3. Crowley also recognises Metatron in the bookshop, where no other Archangel does. Metatron deliberately avoids using his name in this scene, calling him ‘demon’. Which is not inaccurate, but may suggest the Metatron remembers Crowley’s angelic name. It may also explain Metatron’s very dark look at Crowley as he exited the shop – the two of them have some history.
4. It’s never stated explicitly that Gabriel hasn’t always been the Supreme Archangel since the beginning, but there’s enough vagueness in the text to guess at this. When Michael and Uriel are discussing what to do in Gabriel’s absence, Michael and Uriel have this exchange:
M:There is, of course, no question of replacing the supreme archangel. I am the Archangel Michael, you are the Archangel Uriel. U: We aren't in charge. Right now, as of this moment, Heaven does not have a supreme archangel. M: There is always a supreme archangel.
“There is always a Supreme Archangel!” not “Gabriel has always been the Supreme Archangel!” According to some traditions, the Supreme Archangel was the first angel ever created, which would support Michael’s statement: There is always, and there always has been, a Supreme Archangel, since the time of creation. It’s possible that someone else held this role pre-Fall, and Gabriel was appointed as successor after the War in Heaven.
5. The way the other Archangels behave around him. There’s a wariness, but also a strange deference. On being discovered by Saraqael in heaven, they don’t immediately throw him out, but let him watch Gabriel’s trial – even ordering Muriel to show him it. Michael and Uriel then follow him back to Earth without much fuss, giving him quite a look, while Crowley seems to be enjoying himself:

(This also feeds into why I think Crowley looked so different during the Job segment. He knew he might encounter a few Archangels he’s not seen for a thousand years or so, and so appears in disguise.) 6. The lightening! I’ve seen someone point out that Crowley’s electric temper tantrum in S2E1 mirrors the lightening used by Gabriel to travel to Earth in S1E6. This could be a coincidence of VFX, or it could be a Clue.

7. That last conversation between Aziraphale and Crowley:
A: I don't think you understand what I'm offering you. C: I understand. I think I understand a whole lot better than you do.
That’s such a weighted statement, and could be interpreted in so many ways. But, viewed in this light, it sounds like a warning from a former angel who used to be very high up in Heaven indeed – and has absolutely no desire to return there.  
Why does any of this matter?
Obviously just theorising here…
The story is setting us up for a reveal here – Crowley’s status as an angel, and who he was before the Fall is clearly going to factor into Season 3 in some way. Why tease us with it so much and so often if it’s not important?
In terms of the narrative, a powerful revelation would be that Crowley used to have Aziraphale’s new job. That it led him to asking questions about the Almighty’s plan and then, ultimately, falling. And that the Supreme Archangel, for one reason for another, eventually turns against Heaven – it happened to Crowley, to Gabriel (after a few thousand years), and then will have to happen to Aziraphale too.
I could be way off here, but at some point the show needs to explain why Crowley is so different from other demons and has powers that no other demon or angel seems to possess. A reveal that he was once very, very senior in the organisation of Heaven, before asking too many questions and being cast out, would serve as a explanation and be a meaningful development to the narrative of Season 3.

Buttonblossom Analysis in TADC Episode 2

Ragatha was so sweet to Pomni in episode 2 🥺💖 Most people caught onto the obvious fact that Raggs is being codependant and leans onto toxic positivity on the way she tries to cheer up Pomni, but I still think for the most part her heart is in the right place.
I liked their dynamic in episode 1, but I liked it so much in 2 I decided to write a little analysis on it (plus the ship fuel 👀) in preparation for the romance fic I'm writing about them.

Looking back at Ragatha, on the good side, she made some very strong, active efforts to help her during her transition into the digital realm. She checked first thing in the morning if she was okay, she tried to make her feel included in the adventure at the beginning and showed care for her safety overall.
My favorite scene, though, is when the circus gang falls into the fudge river and after checking in on them, the first thing she says is: "Poor Pomni!" 😭 Girlie is so empathetic she even manages to care for someone who's not even there, while she's in a terrible situation herself!

I think this proves how much of a good person Raggs is. She doesn't just help people to feel good or superior, she does it because she geniuenly cares for other people's wellbeing and I find that very noble 😊
On the negative side, she seems to have some very particular communication issues with Pomni, even though she seems to be the circus memeber she cares the most about at the moment.

For starters, her attitude comes off as a little condescending very often. She hardly asks questions to Pomni and tends to assume for her. She hardly acknowledges some of her struggles and tries to downplay them, like when she degrades their experience as "larping". Also, she makes Pomni feel like a child when she tries to "hype her up" in her own words.
If we take Pomni's nightmare into consideration, it seems she believes Ragatha thinks Pomni is not "cut out for it", which might be a result of her condescending behavior I just mentioned.

This makes sense to me and also sheds a little bit of light on how Pomni sees herself as: small and insignificant. It's unclear at the moment how she was before on the physical world, but I speculate based on this evidence she probably didn't think she had much agency in her life (just how she feels in the circus).
At the end, however, thanks to her experience with Gummigoo and looking at the crew grief over Kaufmo's abstraction, Pomni opens herself more to the crew, which is a very good sign.

I think her current dynamic with Ragatha is wicked cool! ✨️ There's a lot of room for growth, which is good in my opinion. Ragatha clearly cares a lot about Pomni and I think with time she could grow to reciprocate her as well.
Despite her cowardness in episode 1, I always had the feeling that Pomz was deep down a caring individual as well, which was solidly proven in 2 with her interactions with Gummi.
On the fanon side, I saw a lot of fans foaming at the mouth (myself included) over the fact that Ragatha was such a tryhard with Pomni (which was anticipated to be the contrary). Some fans have interpreted their potential dynamics as both being shy, which I really, really like.

I believe I will definitely include that in my future fanfic. Another idea I wanted to explore is Pomni talking to Ragatha about her overbearing issues, while still appreciating her good qualities at the same time.
I think it's going to be great ☺️❤ I already look forward to what the end result is going to be. I love mutual pining and I love sweet lesbians caring for each other (even when they're silly girlfails). I'm planning to start by submitting chapter 1 by next Friday and submit a new one every following one, as I've done before.

Hey! I hope you’re doing well!! I read in one of your previous posts that things were a little hard right now. I hope they get better soon, if they haven’t already!
I wanted to ask about your TF141 mer au:
Do the shark mers like Soap, Price and Gaz go into tonic immobility if they get flipped upside down?
Cuz you mentioned they might beef with orcas from time to time, and that’s how orcas often kill great whites: they turn them upside down and hold them like that so they can’t fight back. This paper discusses the strategies used by killer whales to hunt great white sharks that have been observed in South Africa (TW: for pretty lengthy description of killer whales hunting sharks, as well as some slightly graphic descriptions of how the orcas ate the sharks). They also talk about strategies the sharks used to get away from the orcas being similar to how the sharks’ normal prey, seals and sea turtles, try to evade them! Which might mean the sharks are learning how to escape orcas based off how their prey escape them! And they hint in the conclusions that the hunting of sharks might even be a culturally transmitted thing from parent orcas to their calves! Which is insanely cool!! It’s a bit dry because it is a scientific paper, but definitely worth reading, if you’re interested!
But back to the point: If they do go into tonic immobility when flipped upside-down, how do they handle that in the case of dangerous creatures/divers doing that to them? I hope the guys are staying safe out there 😰
(Also, ps. Tonic immobility is theorized to be a sex thing, since sex underwater is hard. So I dunno if you wanna integrate that into your kinky headcannons about the shark mers :) )
yes, thank you!! wild. i have indeed been looking for ways to write in other types of mer, especially orcas. the problem is orcas are way, way overpowered in real life. even the ones that don't kill great whites for their livers are big enough to eviscerate anything that looks at them funny and smart enough to (as you mention) to develop these unique ways of hunting down prey. like… how do you introduce someone based on that without breaking the whole dang worldbuilding structure?
and the study, especially this bit--
In one case, a killer whale attempted to roll and invert a white shark into a position that would result in tonic immobility (Henningsen, 1994; Pyle et al., 1999) before biting into its abdomen just behind the pectoral fins.
so yeah. this particular group of orcas 1) noticed sharks are vulnerable to tonic immobility, and 2) weaponized that vulnerability to basically hypnotize, kill, and butcher them. and those orcas do so with this, like, insane technical precision. they know exactly where to tear into the great whites to reach their livers. iirc, they don't even eat the other parts of the shark--just the liver. all that murder just for a decadent lil treat <3
but yeah! tonic immobility. the idea of building that into a kink thing for the mer 141 is. hmm. phenomenal actually. people apparently speculate that tonic immobility puts a shark into a calm or rapturous/ecstatic (!) state of mind.
like…. cmon...... hypnosis kink.
imagine knowing how to drop any one of the 141 into subspace. you'd have a pod of horny monster men at your beck and call to bottom for you whenever you feel like it ;) shark sex isn't easy! there's teeth and claws and rutting and tail-winding and so much biting. if you knew how to turn any one of them into easygoing submissive mers instead of bitey aggressive doms, who would blame you for flipping that switch occasionally?? as long as you do with them what you want to do before that 15-minute window of tonic immobility trance time is up, of course, and they regain their senses. then all bets are off.

SOTE rant (1)
One thing that I find very annoying, is the propensity for Lore video makers to completely jump on the DLC and analyse it in a void. Everyone is theory crafting like the base game doesn't exist anymore.
Everyone is taking Miquella's approach as the go to for divinity 101 and acting like only the people name dropped in the DLC matter, except for Radagon, who is very important, despite NEVER being named, ANYWHERE in the SOTE game files.
Oh no, excuse me, he's named ONCE in a delete dialogue (unless he speaks during battle but I was under the impression that he never does?) from Radahn:

Yet everyone is out there saying Marika used the gate to make herself a god and created Radagon in the process. And that he was created that way as her lord, and then immediately fathered Messmer and Melina.
But I... kind of don't see it? Why would SHE need to use a special vessel ritual like everyone is theorizing?
She already has a sworn lord : Godfrey.
Why is everyone making these Marika centric lore videos and never dropping the names of key characters?
Godfrey. Serosh. Maliketh. Why is nobody asking themselves WHEN did Marika get granted her "brother" Maliketh by the three fingers? Why is nobody making speculation on whether she had a pact with Hoarah Loux before becoming a god.
He could very well be the vessel needed. He doesn't need to have his soul separated from a body or any such nonsense. That's what Miquella ended up doing because he had no choice if he wanted to use Radahn.
Here is what we know of Godfrey :
Godfrey was a ferocious warrior. When he vowed to become a lord, he took the Beast Regent Serosh upon on his back to suppress the ceaseless lust for battle that raged within. The first demigods were The Elden Lord Godfrey and his offspring, the golden lineage. Crown of Godfrey, the first Elden Lord. The age of the Erdtree began amongst conflict, when Godfrey was lord of the battlefield. He led the War against the Giants. Faced the Storm Lord, alone. And then, there came a moment. When his last worthy enemy fell. And it was then, as the story is told, that the hue of Lord Godfrey's eyes faded. Helm of the Crucible Knights who served Godfrey, the first Elden Lord. Weapon of Godfrey, Elden Lord. It was broken in a battle fought as leader of the Tarnished during the Long March. This weapon is symbolic of Godfrey's vow to conduct himself as a lord, later becoming an emblem of the golden lineage. In the days of the past, a crown was warranted with strength.
The first demigods were The Elden Lord Godfrey and his offspring, the golden lineage.
This line either means that the voice of the game is lying, wrong, or not knowledgeable enough. Or that Messmer is not a demigod, or that Messmer is the son of Godfrey.
And while he does have red hair, he is cursed with a red flame... And his little sister, Melina, doesn't have the distinctive red hair of Radagon's children. She's also not a demigod as far as we know.
Messmer and Melina are named M like Mohg and Morgott! We have plenty of hints that they could be Godfrey's children, first and foremost being the canon base game text asserting all demigods first descended from him. We simply don't know otherwise.
It's also asserting he was the first Elden Lord, and not second or a later addition.
There's also his vow to conduct himself as a Lord, which seems like something he might have done prior to Marika making him Lord.
The beast depicted is Serosh, aged counselor who guides the golden lineage. The black nails protruding from golden fur are said to represent Serosh, Lord of Beasts, who went to become King Godfrey's Regent.
Serosh is very mysterious, and we just know he's some sort of limiter. I've made plenty of posts arguing for Maliketh and Serosh being the same type of beasts from the same global origins.
Beasts are reverred by the Hornsent! Our first boss is their storm beast guys, and the head looks quite similar to Serosh. Who, BTW, is also a spirit form?? Who turns real on command?

All this to say, it doesn't sound impossible at all, to me, that Marika would have come to the gate of divinity already having a lord lined up -- Godfrey -- and counsellors giving advice on how to execute her plan : Serosh and Metyr mother of fingers.
I assume it would be in Metyr's power to grand Marika her (necessary?) Shadowbound beast.
Isn't it interesting that Maliketh is a Shadowbound Beast? In our Shadow Realm DLC? He's never mentioned in the files, sadly.
But all of these people are key to Marika's ascension. I wish people would think about them more when they do their lore videos and not just roll right into creating Radagon out of thin air.

What bothers me most about the secret rite here, is that it says "the secret rite of the divine gateway", like THE rite, not A rite. It could be THE other one is not secret...
But more importantly, the line "usher in a god's return" just really does not fit EITHER of Miquella OR Marika. Neither of them is returning!! Maybe the God of Placidussax would be returning, but both Marika and Miquella are/try to ascend for the first time.
Miquella is also the only one with anyLord shennanigans we know of for sure.
I think Miquella divests himself of everything in order to comply with this ritual. So he has something to "return to". He sheds everything, so that he can pass through the gateway. But he's returning to an Empyrean's birthright. To a demi-god.
But we don't know that this is something Marika would have needed. We don't know that she used this specific ritual. After all, circumstances are VERY different for her :
The Gate of Divinity is fresh and bloody, implying a recent mass sacrifice. And then she plucks Gold from a corpse or receptacle of some sort.
None of this is depicted in Miquella's return, and he's not trying to emulate his mother, because her way of doing things came with a curse loaded "original sin". So we even have reason to believe Miquella would not actually be replicating the same ritual.

Turning, you were met with the sight of Benedict Bridgerton approaching with firm strides, and his presence seemed to overshadow your plans to say goodbye when, for a moment, the world seemed to pause as you lost yourself in the intensity of his gaze.
Without a word, he wrapped his arms around your waist, and his touch sent pleasant shivers down your spine. “Talk?” he asked, his voice laced with a hint of playful intrigue as he arched one of his eyebrows with his signature smile dancing upon his lips. “About what?” he pressed, and with an air of casual confidence, he crossed his arms over his chest as he ambled a few steps to the side. “You're not going to tell me you've fallen in love, are you, princess?”
A nervous laugh bubbled up from within, escaping between your lips before you could hold it back. In an attempt to mirror Benedict's movements, you crossed your arms over your chest, your head shaking with feigned amusement. “Fall in love?” you repeated his words, adopting a tone of playful dismissal. “Don't be ridiculous, of course not,” you declared, adding a scoff at the end, as if to fortify the illusion of light-hearted banter. Hoping to shield your true feelings, now concealed beneath a facade of amusement, you met Benedict's gaze with a look of mock disbelief.
“We should end this relationship,” the words spilled from your lips, hoping your voice wouldn't betray how fast your heart was beating at that moment. “I did not come to London to become just another woman in the arms of the Viscount's son. If my mother were to find out, she'd blame herself for raising me poorly, and that's not the truth,” you began to rationalize, your words flowing as an attempt to justify the decision you had set before both of you. “I have obligations to fulfil, a path to follow, and I won't achieve that by sleeping with you.”
Benedict watched you in silence, not knowing if you were serious. His gaze bore into you, seeking answers within the depths of your eyes.
“Now you're the one being ridiculous,” he retorted, his tone carrying a gentle scolding. Leaning against a nearby counter, he looked at you with a combination of disbelief. “Since when have you cared so deeply about living up to your mother's expectations?”
“I've come to understand that my mother wants what she believes is best for me. As a princess of the French Empire, there are certain expectations I must meet, whether I appreciate them or not,” you said, closing the physical distance between yourself and Benedict. Self-control was what kept your hands from reaching out as you stopped just in front of him. “Think about what would happen if our secret were to be exposed. It would be the end for both of us, and the scandal would echo across the entire continent. The Queen herself would likely seek our demise.” You emphasized your words by pointing a finger at yourself. “I cannot ruin the honour of the entire royal family for a fleeting moment of pleasure.”
Benedict met your gaze with a silent acknowledgment of the truth in your words, yet beneath the veneer of understanding, a flicker of defiance danced in his eyes. “So, what are you saying? You're suddenly prepared to sacrifice your entire life for the expectations of your family that would see you married and bearing children with some man who would likely make you miserable?” he asked, a trace of frustration evident in his voice.
A moment of silence ensued as you fixed your gaze on Benedict. Finally, a disbelieving scoff escaped your lips, and you shook your head. Taking a few steps away, you placed your hands on your hips, a gesture mirroring the internal conflict within you. “Perhaps you haven't noticed yet, Benedict, but I am a woman. And in a world dictated by the whims of men, the role assigned to women is often reduced to that of an obedient wife, tasked with bringing some affluent man's heir into the world. It's not about what I want; it's about what everyone else around me expects.”
As Benedict made a move to step closer, a surge of urgency propelled you to speak before he could interject. “I should be going now. The palace servants are growing increasingly suspicious.”
Despite the assertiveness in your tone, Benedict, keen to the nuances of unspoken emotions, closed the physical gap between you, and his touch went through the delicate fabric of your glove as he gently took your hand. “We can at least end this in a better way,” he suggested, his voice tinged with a suggestive undertone as he met your gaze.
A resolute “No” escaped your lips, infused with an overt firmness born out of the fear that another moment in his gaze might make you give in to your heart's desires. You couldn't afford the risk of surrendering to the tempting pull of his lips once again, the very lips you yearned for. “That's all I wanted to tell you today,” you continued, gently squeezing his hand as if to punctuate your resolve. Purposefully avoiding his gaze, you added, “It's over, but know that every meeting with you has been a pleasure, Mr. Bridgerton. Goodbye.” Articulated so, you withdrew your hand from Benedict's grasp, leaving only the delicate glove in his hold.
With a swift spin, you turned away and your hurried footsteps carrying you out into the rain-soaked streets of London. A quick glance confirmed the absence of prying eyes, making you hasten your pace, putting distance between yourself and the building that housed your shattered heart. The Speedrunners in Ward are so odd to figure out. I’ve taken the time to figure out some of their powers as best as I can and I’ve come to odd results. Long essay as well as Ward spoilers below.
Before Ward, the Speedrunners were originally a group of time manipulating capes that operated in Seattle. As someone attempting to create a Seattle cape scene for the sake of creating worm fan-fiction, I’ve been having to research and understand their powers.
The capes I’ve been researching are specifically Final Hour, Secondhand, and Last Minute. End of Days is a part of the Speedrunners as well, but I am excluding him as he seems to have been a recent addition to the group, coinciding with their increasing association with the Fallen.
The trio’s powers initially make sense, their time powers are described rather plainly and make sense as typical worm powers. Final Hour can slow down time for a single target and switch targets at a moment’s notice. Secondhand can enter a state that allows him to move across distances in the span of femtoseconds at the cost of struggling to move across space while doing so, moving through it like it was molasses. And lastly, Last Minute can reverse the flow of time on objects, making them reverse their movements. All of that seems fine, but the problem is that they don’t just have time powers. At least one of them, possibly even all three, also have tinker powers.
The fact their group has a tinker is obvious, after all, their first direct appearance in Ward is them engaging in a trade of tinker knowledge(Shade 4.3). In that same chapter they are described as all using tinker tech. The presence of a tinker is clear, but the identity of that tinker is not. Victoria even speculates that all of them could be tinkers. The identity of the tinker(s) is ultimately never stated, but it is heavily hinted at later in Ward in several places. At one point, Snag notes that he helped Final Hour work on a tinker frame, implying Final Hour is a tinker. In the same chapter Snag also notes Last Minute helped Snag with creating a “loadout chamber in his right arm” (Shadow - Interlude 5.y). These two thoughts imply that Final Hour and Last Minute are both tinkers.
Beyond this, there is additional information that suggests Secondhand is a third tinker. During the interlude Dying 15.y, we see the perspective of Secondhand. During this, Secondhand shows a heavy understanding of the tinker tech equipment he uses. He knows the material the tech was made of and even recognizes the numerical readings that the tinker tech of his suit gave him. Additionally, he is able to differentiate these numerical readings from “just-for-fun diabolical symbols and magical diagrams”. The fact itself that he can recognize what is “just-for-fun” heavily implies he is a tinker, as a regular person likely could not discern what is necessary or not in tinker tech.
Based on the available information provided, we have to assume that Final Hour, Secondhand, and Last Minute are all tinkers. With that in mind however, we must then consider what specialty each of them could have. The main problem is that line of consideration is that despite there being three tinkers, there are only two specialties hinted at. The first tinker specialty is time manipulation, which I imagine one could already safely assume was the case in a group of time manipulators. The second tinker specialty hinted however is much more unusual, power alteration.
Before I get to the power alteration specialty, I will note all of the clearly time manipulating technology that appears to be related to the Speedrunners. In Shade 4.3 Last Minute is noted to have tinker weapons that react differently when experiencing time in reverse compared to when experiencing time normally, he is also shown to use those tinker weapons in Shadow - Interlude 5.y. In Dying - 15.5, a beam is fired that creates a bubble that reverses time on the mechs, repairing the parts of them in the bubble to near pristine state. In Infrared 19.z Dragon is noted to have an engine modified from the work of Speedrunners, at the time now known as the Thomais Fallen, that would affect time manipulation attempts. Those are the only examples I could find of their time manipulation tech, but it shows that there is most likely time manipulation specialty within the trio.
As for the other, much more unsual tinker specialty, there are several more potential examples. During Shade 4.3 they are all described as using some kind of tinker tech to augment their powers, but two of them stand out for this specialty. Final Hour with his tinker tech can cause additional effects to the target he is slowing time on. Secondhand’s tinker tech suit both allows him to move with less strain during his mover state and also cause an explosion on exiting the mover state. Secondhand shows several more odd power shifts as time goes on. In Shade 4.3 he is also shown to be able to enter a mover state that is fast, but not the near instant speed of his typical power. During this altered state, a quick movement in this state causes him to cause an explosion of slowed time. This additional mover state is highly abnormal from both the regular power he displays in other occasions and from what Victoria knows his power to be like, suggesting a potential power alteration. Later in Ward, in Dying 15.y, Second Hand is also noted to use tinker tech that at the cost of energy makes entering his mover state possible even when his power usually had a required cooldown period. These examples so far are similar in that they alter a time based power, however the next one is different, it alters End of Days’ power.
End of Days’ power is specifically noted to not be time related and is said to “phase things into desolate alternate worlds”(Beacon 8.1). Based on what we see in combat of him using this power, it is temporary and not permanent(Shadow 5.12). I think this because it would have been far more advantageous in the fight we see him in to have made it permanent. Also in Beacon 8.1, it is stated that they think End of Days used a “tech-augmented version of his power” to help the Thomais branch and himself escape into another world. The Thomais Branch ultimately ends up at Teachers Compound. If we do not assume the possibility of a power altering tinker specialty, this turn of events is incredibly strange. His power is not shown to be permanent nor is it implied that he is capable of picking the world targets are phased to. His typical power simply does not align with the events that occur unless his power was altered somehow.
Assuming that there are indeed these two tinker specialties, that leads to yet more questions, specifically “who has what tinker specialty?” and “Why are there only two obvious tinker specialties?”. The first one I can possibly answer with evidence, but the second one requires speculation. I will start with the first question. I think Final Hour is implied to be the power altering tinker through an example from earlier, Snag is noted in Shadow - Interlude 5.y to have helped him create the frame that adds additional effects on his targets. As Final Hour was the main one creating it, the possible power alteration specialty that allows for its construction in the first place must be his. As for the time specialty, Last Minute is strongly implied to have it with the existence of his tinker weapons that work differently in reversed time. Based on the available evidence I can say Final Hour is most likely the power altering tinker and Last Minute is likely the time tinker, but I cannot with certainty say what Secondhand’s specialty is. He clearly understands all of the tech he is using well enough to be a tinker, but that same tech he uses shows both aspects of power alteration and time manipulation.
This strange detail brings me to question two, why are there only two obvious tinker specialties? This is where speculation becomes much more necessary. Firstly, it must be noted that tinkers with secondary non-thinker powers are already a rarity, we do not see many of them in Worm or Ward. Secondly, it must be noted that the odds of three people all triggering with a time manipulation power alongside an additional tinker power is incredibly low. Even lower are the odds that those three people would come to live in the same nation, much less form a group together. The odds of that occurring is almost astronomically low… …unless their powers are all connected. There are two possibilities that could lead to their powers being connected. They could either be buds of an existing cape (or possibly multiple capes) with temporal manipulation powers and a secondary tinker power, or they could be a cluster. We can likely rule out the first possibility, as we know from Shade 4.1 that the Speedrunners “do not look like family”. Additionally, they just aren’t bonded to each other enough to suggest the involvement of budding. Dying 15.y notes at one point that the four capes of the Thomais branch huddled “without closeness”. Without the possibility of budding, this only leaves the other possibility, a cluster.
The idea of the three initial Speedrunners being a cluster is odd at a first glance, for one, you’d likely think that with Ward’s heavy focus on clusters that it would have surely come up. I cannot explain why it never came up, but I can say that the possibility of the three being a cluster explains some inconsistencies and oddities that otherwise would go unanswered. For one, it would explain how such a rare trio came to be in the first place. If the group was a cluster, the chances all three having a time manipulating power alongside a tinkering power becomes far more likely. As an additional consideration, it must be stated that a tinker trigger alongside a time manipulation trigger would result in a cluster with tinkering and time manipulation. Two tinker triggers alongside a time manipulation trigger however also results in a cluster with tinkering and time manipulation. Two tinker triggers would explain why at a glance a cluster of the three Speedrunners would appear to be just two main powers, tinkering and time manipulation.
Two main tinker powers would also explain the strange detail from earlier, Secondhand’s lack of a distinct tinker specialty from Final Hour and Last Minute. For this, let’s assume some possible positions of the cluster based on the powers and tinker specialties I have shown. Final Hour would be the main aspect of power altering tinker given he was noted to work on a power altering frame, Last Minute would be the main aspect of the time manipulating tinker given his apparent time manipulation tinker tech, and Secondhand would be the main aspect of the time manipulating power as he has the notably strongest one, a mover in his case. This would mean Second Hand would get two minor tinker aspects, time manipulation and power alteration. If he had two minor tinker powers, it would explain both why Secondhand understands his technology so well while also not showing a distinct tinker specialty from Final Hour and Last Minute. It would be because he doesn’t have a distinct tinker specialty and is just using the minor aspects he got from his clustermates.
With the idea of a cluster in mind, it must be asked, why is there no apparent kiss/kill dynamic? Why is there no apparent personality bleedthrough? I myself cannot answer those questions beyond mere speculation. There are two possibilities, for the first possibility it’s possible there is a very weak kiss aspect. It is noted in Glow-worm - p.4 that 25% of the time partnerships are made between clustermates, the definition of partnership in this instance is as follows, “The term partnership is used for romantic pairings in instances where sexuality and gender allow, and close friendship or formed teams with members in other cases.”. Based on this definition, there is a chance for a kiss aspect to make clustermates form a team together but not be otherwise close. For the second possibility, theres a chance there simply is no kiss/kill dynamic, the wording uses to describe the likelihood of one is things like “typically”, or “prone to”. It gives the impression that there is a small but non zero chance that clusters without a kiss/kill dynamic can form. If this cluster formed without one, they may have just ultimately teamed up due their similar backgrounds and knowledge of each other.
To conclude this lengthy and long winded essay about the Speedrunners of all people, I will state what I think is likely the case. I think that the three original Speedrunners come from an unstated cluster trigger, with an additional power altering tinker ability that is similarly unmentioned. THAT is why I find the Speedrunners so odd to figure out.

Theory: Ryuji was popular, before.
I'm not entirely sure if anyone has really talked about this but I maintain my interpretation that, in the canon of Persona 5, Ryuji used to be very (or at least moderately) popular prior to the events of the story.
This is something I've gotten into before when talking to friends who like the game and the character, but I haven't really considered writing it down until now. The main argument I have is based on three things:
Things Ryuji alluded to in canon (but no one believed him on)
The deliberate choice of making him a track athlete
Typecasting for voice actors
1: "There were girls all over me!"
I don't really have the time to go on a deep dive through all the instances in which he hints at his reputation before the Kamoshida incident, but I think the most clear-cut representation of this was during the scene where he and Ann spend the day with Futaba during her post-palace social rehabilitation:

So here's the thing...I don't think he's lying about this. Nobody in the room would be that impressed to find out whether Ryuji was popular since they are already friends (or in Mona's case, he really just doesn't care), so it wouldn't make sense for him to lie.

Regarding everyone's reactions though, here's my impression: Ann was simply not aware of what was going on with the track team, being predominantly focused on dealing with rumors, her friendship with Shiho, and her modeling career (and eventually Kamoshida's advances once he started doing that shit) and she mentions a few times that she and Ryuji weren't actually close before joining the PT; they were just in the same class in middle school. Futaba hasn't interacted with anyone her age in years and isn't the most reliable source when it comes to what people generally find attractive; just because she doesn't have any interest in Ryuji doesn't mean that nobody her age would. And Morgana is a cat that brags constantly about how cool he is, so he shouldn't be throwing rocks.
There are many other times in the game when you get little glimpses of his social savvy, and from my understanding of Royal (I'm an OG vanilla P5 player and haven't done 3rd-semester yet, so don't kill me) when the track team returns to "how it was", he is getting along extremely well with everyone. Not only was he the team's ace: this kid was also expected to become the captain by his senior year (as briefly mentioned when he bumps into his former senpai at the gym, iirc). That's huge! If his team held him in such high regard, then the general student body of Shujin surely had a similar opinion. This brings me to my next point:
2: Girls like boys that run fast(???)
This is honestly something that baffles me. It's also really difficult for me to substantiate; any source material on this is obviously in Japanese and if I could find any of it, I sure as hell can't read it. The only English-language source I know of I cannot find anymore; I think it was an old Tofugu article? However. If you've watched any romance anime set in a high school during the last 20 years, you might have seen this trope at some point: the school sports festival is happening, and the relay race is kind of a huge deal (it's the final event! a make-or-break moment for the class!). The boy thinks to himself "If I win this race, I'll be able to win her heart/ask her out/etc." Low-stakes drama ensues. Maybe a confession happens.
This is (from what I've been told) based on a long-standing trend of girls and women self-reporting in surveys about how, oftentimes, their crushes in junior or senior high school were simply "the boy who ran the fastest in the races". I have no idea what this means in a broader cultural context. It makes no goddamn sense to me at all. Do not cite me on this. But I think it's worth keeping in mind, even if it's almost entirely speculative (and possibly outdated) information. And even if it's just based on rumors, don't you think it's pretty in-character for Ryuji to go for a track scholarship—despite being adept at other sports like baseball and football/soccer, as mentioned in P5 and P5D—because he was aware of the potential of being more popular with girls? Of course, his priority would be getting the scholarship and paying his way through school to lighten his mother's burden, but hey, getting a girlfriend on the way up wouldn't be half bad!
I think this could also inform us as to why Kamoshida (as a predator who wanted attention from high school girls) felt so threatened by the track team in particular, and why he felt a need to specifically knock Ryuji down a peg and sought out a weakness to do so (as opposed to targeting any of the probably just-as-popular boys on the many other athletic teams and clubs in the school). Just some food for thought on this one! Also, if anyone can find a source or has any insight on the relay race thing, please share. I am so confused about it.
3: Typecasting
So this is something that you really only notice if you are very into keeping up with seiyuu in Japan. I am not one of those people. But I do have some favorite voice actors! One of these being Mamoru Miyano.
So I freakin' love this dude. He's voiced a lot of my favorite characters, sings incredibly well, and has an unreal sense of comedy. He's stated in interviews that his acting inspiration is Jim Carrey, and let me tell you: it shows. He is also quite consistently typecast into certain roles, predominantly as princely pretty-boy types, Coolguys, or complete fucking nutcases. Sometimes all three at the same time (shoutout to my boy Ling FMA!)
ATLUS definitely cast him for P5 because of his comedic chops. But I think they also cast him because having him voice someone like Ryuji is a great way to subvert expectations for the player. I think it's supposed to give you whiplash—"what do you mean the voice of LIGHT FUCKING YAGAMI is coming out of this guy's mouth?" "why does the delinquent character sound like king of the host club Tamaki Suou?" "isn't that Rin Matsuoka's voice?" etc. etc. etc.
(here's a quick list, just to really get the idea across. maybe you recognize a few.)

This is obviously a non-comprehensive list, but something that a lot of the characters he's voiced over the years have in common is that they were considered cool, handsome, or popular. Not just for fans, but within the canon of their stories! So...what does that mean? What does that say about how we should see Ryuji?
I think players are supposed to expect that he will fall into one of those categories too, and then be surprised to find that it's not the case—that he's been isolated and made bitter and resigned by what happened to him the year before.
Speaking of his tone, I think it's very telling that Ryuji actually forgets to keep up the delinquent act a lot in the original JP audio, which unfortunately doesn't really carry over in the ENG translation. The delivery of his JP lines sounds a bit more subdued in comparison too—yeah he's got a lot of energy and is very hotheaded, but when he gets to talking about serious shit, he sounds a lot more regretful and melancholy as opposed to the EN delivery which depicts him as more resentful and outwardly angry. I think before Shit Went Down, he probably had the Coolguy vibe. Still a bit of a rowdy idiot and a showoff, but I think he probably came across to most people as a very friendly, sincere, and popular guy.
So yeah, the girls probably were all over him, at least for a short while.

“Y/n, Jaeger’s here for you again.” Nanaba, your dance couch for Paradis’ tour points behind her with a slack expression on her face. She’s clearly unimpressed by the brunette devil sporting a smirk on his lips, his beautifully deep teal eyes drag to yours in such amusement that you almost wish you could read his mind. His hair is tied back in his signature style of course — albeit the stray hairs that somehow frame his face perfectly and God you could talk about those eyelashes for days. If there was one thing you knew about the lead vocal for Paradis it was that he was beautiful and admittedly every time he got you out of dance practice it felt wrongly exciting.
“You know you can’t keep stealing my best dancer right? I kinda need her to know the choreography for your songs.” She turns to face him, there’s a dangerous smile lingering on his lips while his hands are pushed deeply into his pockets.
“Just this once.” He promises, it’s a lie and that shouldn’t surprise you.
“That’s what you say everytime.” Nanaba rolls her eyes, “What do you want her for anyway?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” He lets out a breathy laugh while leaning against the wall behind him, something lights up in his eyes as you walk over though you and Nanaba share the same expression, unimpressed.
“She’s right.” You back the head choreographer for two reasons. 1) She’s extremely scary when she wants to be, the majority of that includes the next time she sees you after Eren pulls you away. 2) You’d already missed a countless amount of practices due to the boy anyway. Though it was hard to say no, not when he was the sole reason you were on this tour anyway. Besides, Nanaba knows what he says goes, he’s not necessarily her superior but the second Paradis’ star boy starts whining about how he doesn’t like her she’d be gone, that wasn’t something she could afford.
“You’re good at what you do.” He says, pushing himself off the wall. He’s so convinced you’ll come with him because he knows you, you’re friends at this point and that means you’re aware that he never takes no for an answer. “So you’ll have no problem catching up.”
“Come on Eren—“
“Please?” He interrupts, here he goes pulling out the big guns. As if on cue a dejected expression appears on his face, he pouts slightly while gazing down at you longingly. He grabs your arm, tugging you to come along with him.
“Why are you like this?” You sigh, giving Nanaba a sorry look but how could she blame you? You were in the same boat as her, neither of you had the power to say no to Eren Jaeger, and chances are he wouldn’t let you.
As usual the other girls in practice whisper amongst themselves, always speculating between the relationships you and Eren had. The most popular theory was that you were fucking of course but as they’d told you a million times it was nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, you should wear it on your forehead as a sign of pride but the simple fact was that it just wasn’t true. You were friends, and he only wanted to be friends, right?
“Can’t help it.” He murmurs, dipping down so that his lips are practically grazing your earlobe, “I’m lonely without you.”
“If you keep saying stuff like that people will get the wrong idea.” You hit him lightly on the shoulder, much to his amusement.
He cracks a grin, leaning forwards so only you could catch his words. “If you don’t come with me now then I’ll definitely give them the wrong idea.” It’s a threat that he intends to go through with, you know Eren which means you know it’s never a good idea to call his bluff.
You gulp, nodding with agreement. “Okay fine but this is the last time.”
He chuckles to himself, turning on his heel. He’s already eager to get out of here. Truthfully, the only time he has any interaction with Nanaba, or any of the dancers for that matter is when he comes to watch you. He won’t lie, he’s done some fucked up things to the sight of you dancing, so much so that if he told you he’s sure you’d run for the hills but he can’t help it. Sometimes he burns your movement into his memories so he can jerk off to it the same day, the thought of you moving against him like that was exciting. However, you’ve proven that it’s harder to get into your pants than he would’ve anticipated, no wonder you were a virgin. At times he thought it was more hassle than it was worth but the moment he saw your pretty face again he was sold. He knew he had to have you.
“I’ll practice it later, I swear.” You sport your coach one last bashful smile despite the annoyed look on her face before catching up with the reason for all your troubles. Like it wasn’t hard enough being away from home touring with Paradis, to make matters worse Eren was constantly putting the few bonds you did have here with people on the rocks.
“Where are we going?”
“My dressing room.” He replies like he’s been anticipating your question, he’s got a look on his face that reminds you of an angel but you know better than that, it’s a facade.
“And why’s that?”
“Got a new strand of weed, thought you might wanna try.” He glances down at you as you fall into step besides him. He thinks this position suits you, next to him. “Unless you stopped smoking — already?” His tone is challenging and it annoys you, it annoys you because of course you’d want to prove him wrong. He’s the one that got you hooked on this shit in the first place even though you told him it wasn’t a good idea for a dancer to smoke. You needed all the stamina you could get.
“You know I haven’t.” You say meekly, your gaze falling to the ground. He loved that, loved knowing how much he’s corrupted you. Is it filthy? Maybe. Did he care? Not one bit.
He laughs lightly as you make your way through the back rooms. You’re never at one venue long enough to actually get used to the place, let alone know where you’re going. It made you wonder how much Eren would be wondering around and why? He’s probably taken countless girls to his dressing room already in less than the week you’ve been here.
Make no mistake, you’d been to his dressing room countless times before too. The difference was nothing more than friendly interactions would take place there between the two of you. Still, you found it hard to believe that Eren was just maintaining platonic relationships with all the girls he spoke to. But then why you? You couldn’t put your finger on it. You also couldn’t help the lingering thought in the back of your mind that you were unattractive, maybe he just didn’t wanna fuck you.
“How do you know these corridors so well?” You blurt out your thoughts while taking another turn.
He laughs to himself, looking away. “I like to explore.” Another lie. You weren’t sure if Eren was comfortable with lying so much because he thought you wouldn’t catch on or because he knew you would but he also knew you wouldn’t challenge it. You had a feeling it was the second one. Maybe he liked the exert this twisted sense of power over you.
Eventually, his hand turns one of the door knobs and you step into his dressing room. It’s almost the same as all the rest, almost. It has a clothing rack with whatever his stylists have decided will be best for the three performances they have here, a leather couch against the wall with a coffee table just opposite it and a mounted TV purely for his entertainment. The only difference is that this one has a bed, now that caused your eyebrow to raise a little. You knew that some nights Eren would rather sleep in his dressing room than the rowdy tour bus. You supposed he got a bed added for that reason, you couldn’t see him and all his 6ft2 glory fitting on that couch anyway.
Though, much to your surprise Connie, Jean and Armin were here. You’d had interactions with them multiple times, particularly Jean who could only be described as a flirt though you weren’t sure you would consider them to be friends. Essentially, the entire band of Paradis sat in anticipation while Jean rolled one up, it was hard to feel like you weren’t intruding on something.
“Finally.” Armin collapses onto the bed, seeing the two of you walk through the door. “You’re back.”
“What took you so long?” Jean glances over at the two of you, him and Connie are situated on the couch leaving one empty spot at the very end.
Eren points behind him at you, “Nanaba was tryna be difficult with me.”
“You know you don’t have to ask for her permission right?” Connie quirks up an eyebrow, amused by your meek demeanour.
He places a hand on your back, he’s teasing you. “She likes it when I’m polite.”
Armin chuckles, “It’s nice seeing you again y/n.” The other two nod in agreement upon eyeing you head to toe. Sometimes you didn’t understand how surreal your situation was, touring with one of the biggest bands in the world, definitely the hottest members. Somehow even befriending one of them and now you were what? Going to casually light one up with Paradis?
“Yeah, real nice.” Jean is practically liking his lips. Curse you and those stupid shorts you wear for dance practice. Perhaps he ought to be more like Eren and pay you a visit or two. “Eren thinks about you too much.” Connie observes, “Pulled this out and the first thing he’s talking about is how he doesn’t want you to miss it.”
Eren takes a seat besides Jean, you stand there awkwardly not sure where you’re supposed to go.
“Come.” He taps his lap lightly while ignoring Connie’s comment, gesturing you to sit on it. Naturally your eyes widen and of course he finds it amusing. He smiles, looking at his other bandmates. “It’s not a big deal, right guys?” They nod routinely and you swallow whatever is stuck in your throat before slowly walking over and taking a seat. Eren has a satisfied grin as you try to situate yourself, you don’t expect him to place both his hands on your hips, holding you down.

So i've said before that Haku was probably the "dear friend" that left Jin's side. This is because Haku was our only known ex-Frostheimer at the time.

It's better if he change houses--but somebody has to be there for Jin. . .so Tohma took his place.
(Perhaps Tohma resents Haku for being right there already but not being there for Jin? And then he goes and makes himself cozy in another house. . . .)
Jin and Yuri being friends also makes sense. Same music tastes, same attitude of "you're not important enough to speak to me, lesser being", a mutual distaste for Darkwick and the Institute's staff, they both love their mothers--
It makes sense that he might tell his close friend who happens to be a doctor about his family medical history too, I would say.

They have interests and tastes in common and similar attitudes, they both now want nothing to do with each other or the other's house, and the other Frostheim ghouls close to Jin know Yuri doesn't associate with Frostheim, and even Jiro knows Yuri doesn't associate with Frostheim.

To the point that Yuri doesn't want Jiro going over there and is stressed out at the thought that he may have actually gone to Frostheim despite his orders and is openly relieved when you have proof that Jiro was actually somewhere else. And Tohma believed that Jiro had gone to Frostheim on Yuri's orders, perhaps because he already believed Yuri had told Yumiko about Jin's mother. However I don't believe Yuri would intentionally do something like that--he hates Jin but that doesn't mean he'd want to take part in a scheme to take him down, especially a scheme from a Frostheimer.
But! That does still leave an opening for Haku to have revealed the information. . .or Kaito, who can read lips and thus doesn't need to have heard an exchange to get the information from it, just seen it. Kaito is also a second year Frostheimer after all.
BUT. Until we know more this is all speculation. It's turning out like I was wrong about the previous observations after all. While these make more sense, I could still be totally off base and this could be totally unrelated beef. But it makes more sense than Haku to me. I'm glad we got such a good hint/reveal!

Trying to learn more about the protagonist and what their past could potentially be (THEORY)
So, our mute history enthusiast that is the protagonist of Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion.

This is going to be a theory that I've been interested in making for awhile. I think there's more to the protagonist than some think and they're quite the tragic fellow under this theory. Some have already made some theories and speculation on them, such as their traumatic past and generally mentally unhealthy state being hinted at with Specimen 5 and 7, but I want to dive a bit deeper than that.
First, I'll talk about what little we already know about them. After that, I'll be analyzing Specimen 7, since they play a big role in learning more about our player character. Finally, I'll start to explain how I think the protagonists connections with those specimens, specifically 5 and 7, go a bit deeper and can give us insight into what their past and trauma could potentially be. In any case, let's relax, maybe grab a snack, and get right to it. Probably going to be awhile.
What do we know about them?
Looking at the image shown in the bad ending, which is basically the only time where we can get a decent look at them, they appear to be either a young adult in their 20's or a late teenager. They also sport some short hair that can make them come across as either male or female as their gender is supposed to be ambiguous.
Aside from that, it's also implied that they have red irises. There's the bad ending of course, but there's also Specimen 2's death screen where we can see some red eyes that could potentially belong to the player character as they become one with Specimen 2.

Of course, we also know that the motivation behind our character going to the mansion is that they're a history enthusiast wanting to discover the mystery behind it. The fact they're stated to be a history enthusiast rather than a historian could imply that they're an amateur who wants to become a historian. This is another thing that possibly hints at their young age.
Gameplay wise? Our protagonist (who from now I'll just be referring to as MC) shows some impressive feats. They're able to outrun a good handful of the creatures that we see throughout the base game and DLC's. They also must be pretty strong if they can carry a whole entire axe while walking or sprinting through a big chunk of the game. In terms of dealing with all these creatures and the horrors around them, they're pretty determined to push through it all and keep moving forward, this is probably how they were able to make it all the way to 1,000 rooms in the first place.
Not much else is known about our character besides that. So let's dive a bit deeper.
How can we learn more about them?
Throughout the base game you mostly run through the whole entire thing. Maybe you'll look at some notes or look behind you to see what Specimen is chasing you, but simply running and keeping a consistent and constant pace is what most players do at a certain point. That is until you reach room 406 and the game suddenly slows you down with this...

You suddenly hear the loud ticking and tocking of an old clock and you see something written on the checkerboard floor in front of you that states "threshold of consciousness". By stepping over the threshold, the wall in front of you crumbles and you're met with not only a giant clock in the distance, but also this cat that is simply known as the White Cat according to the credits (although they're more of a pinkish color).

She states that this strange place can help us, but also warns us that trying to receive help from this place will come at the cost at making us greatly disturbed or confused, and oh boy does it show once we go through a couple more rooms and are met with this.

We enter into a room that is split between two colors, pink and yellow, while in the center is a compass with an eye on it. Red worms wiggle around on the flood, repeatedly going back and forth between the opposite ends of the room. The cat is also here once again and she states "Two sides of the same coin. Knowing your projections can help you achieve freedom." A statement that sounds cryptic and vague for the sake of being cryptic and vague, but there is meaning to it along with the other cryptic statements that this cat will state later on.
The White Cat is basically MC's therapist. To be more specific, the method of therapy that the cat is trying to use here is Jungian therapy.

Jungian therapy is a form of psychodynamic/psychoanalysis therapy. The aim of Jungian therapy being to explore unpleasant or painful thoughts and experiences so the true problem can be pinned down and be resolved. This is done by bringing together the conscious and unconscious parts of the mind and thus making the person receiving the therapy feel balanced and whole. By stepping over the threshold of consciousness, we have entered our personal unconscious. Diving into subliminal, repressed, and forgotten memories.
With that info, we can decipher what's going on here. As stated before, the room is split into two halves. Pink and yellow. Both pink and yellow have positive and negative symbolism to them. Pink can symbolize compassion, comfort, warmth, calmness, and kindness. But it can also symbolize timidness, immaturity, impulsiveness, unconfidence, and being overly emotional. Yellow can symbolize happiness, energy, optimism, enlightenment, and hope. But it can also symbolize cowardice, envy, deception, mental illness, and betrayal. There's a handful of other meanings for both colors, but that's just to name a few.
As for the worms on the ground, worms can symbolize death and decay along with renewal and regeneration. Meanwhile the compass in the middle of the room can symbolize a few things. It could symbolize MC's independence and being willing to push themselves out of their comfort zone. It could symbolize them always finding a way to their home or destination. It could symbolize their motivation and inspiration, the values in their life, or the need to find balance. Or it could symbolize a literal moral compass and that the MC is free to choose whatever path they want.
So what does this room mean and what is the cat trying to say? The "Two sides of the same coin" line refers to how pink and yellow both have positive and negative aspects to them. By recognizing and becoming self aware of our positives and negatives ("Knowing your projections"), we open the path that can lead us to being free from our trauma. The worms represent that the protagonist has the potential of renewal and regeneration while the compass is supposed to represent that despite all of this, we have the choice to choose whatever path we want, even if one path is greatly worse than the other.

The next room we go in is an office building with some windows, some desks, and a single computer. The cat is also here of course.

This time she states "The mask you wear serves its purpose well, but be careful not to lose yourself in it." This is another part of Jungian therapy. The mask, which is also known as the persona, is basically what it sounds like. The persona is how you present yourself to others. Often times, this persona that we put on for others isn't who we actually are. It's our way of conforming to society as a whole and this can lead to not being able to show others who you truly are or manipulating others to your will and needs. Going to the computer in the room, it states quotes such as "Be part of something", "Put on your mask", "Follow the group", "You are not you", and "Become more than yourself". Basically the cat is warning MC to not become detached from who they truly are and that their violent and aggressive persona can have consequences. In other words, she's warning us about the bad ending.
An office of all things being the setting is interesting. Working at an office job can lead to pretty terrible consequences for your mental or even physical health. Consequences such as anxiety, stress, pain in the neck, shoulders, and back, eyestrain, metabolic syndrome, feeling overwhelmed, and of course, depression. Perhaps MC wants to be a historian, but is stuck at a terrible office job. Assuming that they already had mental issues before getting the job, working at an office most likely made their condition all the more worse, especially with having to put on a "mask" for others.

The next room has us alone with the cat in this outer space-like area. The ambience that we can hear in the background is calm and soothing, yet there's still a bit of eeriness to it. The cat here states "Balance is the key to keeping your mind free and sane." Basically stating what the whole point of Jungian therapy is and that if we want our mind to be mentally sane and feel free, we must seek balance within our mind, piecing together the conscious and unconscious. This is yet another warning to the protagonist about how indulging in their twisted and violent desires can lead to the bad ending.
As for the space-like area, outer space can symbolize many things. Perhaps the desire for freedom, expansion, and exploration while also wanting personal growth, self discovery, and being free of limitations. Perhaps thirst for knowledge and curiosity about our world and universe. Perhaps one's emptiness, loneliness, and detachment from others, reflecting a need for emotional connection and intimacy. It could also represent one's untapped potential, hidden desires, and unexplored aspects of themselves. Seems like we're learning more and more about MC the further we go.

After leaving the outer space room, instead of entering the area with the giant clock in the middle and making your way towards the wooden door like always, you enter into a short hallway. At the end of the hallway is a metal door and blood splattered on the floor and walls. Going through the door you enter into... nothing. There's nothing here except for you, the cat, and the wooden door illuminated in front of you. There's not even any ambience except for the ticking of the clock, creating an unnerving atmosphere.
Talking to the cat one final time, she states "Knowing your shadow can greatly help you, but be ready to see what you'd rather not be." Jungian therapy strikes again. The shadow reflects deeper, darker elements of our psyche. Our repressed ideas, instincts, weaknesses, shortcomings and desires. Our primal side that we often like to keep locked up and hidden. She's saying that being aware of these things can help us, but what we'll soon see that represents that dark mirror of ourselves, aka the Wall of Flesh, won't be pleasant.
With that, we go through the wooden door. We enter some odd and fleshy looking hallway. When we reach the end of it, we come across, not a door, but what looks to be some kind of portal. Going through it, the chase can finally begin.

The rooms are filled with a red mist and it's a bit difficult to navigate and see where you're going. The chase involves having to run through this little maze, while the walls flash these strange and bizarre images. Assuming these images are connected to MC like everything else has been, let's decipher them.

This freaky, fleshy, red eyed, and evil face could represent MC's dark and violent thoughts. A little piece representing our shadow.

There are two runes shown in the game. One red and one black. They don't bear resemblance to any real world runes that we know of and can decipher, at least from what I searched, but they can still hold meaning. Since the word rune literally means "secret" or "mysterium", the runes could represent MC's unknown thoughts and desires.
Hidden away at the back of their mind and kept secret, as shown in the form of runes. Using color symbolism once again, the black runes could represent MC's fear, depression, hopelessness, and overall mystery. Meanwhile the red runes could represent MC's rage, impulsiveness, aggression, and overall violence.

The legs we see on the wall could represent the phrase "have legs" as in if an idea, plan, or activity has legs, it is likely to continue to succeed or show the potential to succeed. Either that or it could represent the slang version of the word legs, as in longevity or staying power, enduring and being successful. The protagonist has the potential to succeed, to leave this strange and trippy place and the mansion as a whole, but they will need to have endurance and determination if they want to reach that success.
Aside from that, it seems like we're just running through empty halls with no threats in sight. What's chasing us? Well, if you look behind you for a couple seconds...

There it is. The Wall of Flesh. The wall of screaming corpses and skeletons. The wall of the protagonist's trauma, pain, agony, suffering, depression, rage, violent urges, loneliness, hopelessness, and mystery all molded into one being. This is your shadow. This is Specimen 7.
Now, despite the atmosphere and the overall unnerving appearance of Specimen 7, this chase isn't one without a sense of hope. Taking a quick listen to the soundtrack that plays while you're being chased, you'll notice that it sounds... oddly cheery. That unnerving feeling and sense of danger while listening to the track is certainly there, but it feels lessened compared to other tracks. I think the way some people have described this track is pretty spot on.
The calm, soothing, music box melody is supposed to represent the White Cat and everything she has taught you so far. The tense and more dangerous bitcrushed sounding percussion represents the wall itself. If you have headphones, you can even hear this bitcrushed groaning, almost hissing sound, that is presumably coming from the wall itself, at the beginning of the track. The whole entire soundtrack sounds like it's at conflict with itself, with one side trying to overtake the other.
Despite everything the protagonist is currently going through at this moment, there's a strong sense of hope when it comes to this chase them. It helps the player be able to calm themselves down and stay focused despite being chased and it makes sense. The wall isn't very fast. In fact, it's very slow. The only way you would be able to die from it is if you're slow at escaping or you give up and just stand there. Thematically speaking, I think it's perfect.
After all, that's what trauma kinda is. It's not this big monster that tries to rush you down within an instant. Rather, it's this mass of many factors and things that slowly and steadily creeps up on you. Affecting your mental state for the worst more and more as time passes. And when you're at your lowest? When you're too late? When you stand there and give in to the pain? That is when it finally catches you and you become another brick in the wall as a result.
That is what this is all about. Overcoming trauma and pain. Specimen 7 is a whole entire therapy session for MC. Why is a grandfather clock the first thing that they hear when stepping into room 406? Because there's only so much time they have. Whether that be with life in general or when they can seek the help they need before becoming a broken shell of themself. In the end, MC completes their therapy session and overcomes their trauma. Specimen 7 never chases you again. You only encounter it once, even in endless mode. They have done it.
So that's that right? Well... it still feels like we're missing something. We got the answers to what Specimen 7's deal is, but we also got more questions when it comes to our protagonist. We know that they clearly have mental issues and trauma. That's evident by CAT-DOS stating that Specimen 5 is extremely effective against victims with mental issues or weak wills and Specimen 7 specifically being stated to be only effective against victims with past trauma or psychological issues.

So they're mentally ill and are traumatized by something. Got it. But there also seems to be an emphasis on them being violent and dangerous?

There's Specimen 8 being stated to be extremely effective against violent victims, but there's also the whole deal with the bad ending where you don't heed the White Cat's advice and give in to your violent desires after obtaining the axe. Looking at this achievement here...

It's called "It Was Never A Mask". Meaning that the protagonist isn't putting on this violent and bloodthirsty persona or "mask". That's just who they are. Why are they so violent? What traumatized them? Why is their therapist a cat of all things? Why did they even go to the mansion in the first place? Was it really to "shed some light on this crumbling fortress of darkness"? Or was it something else?
This is where we can finally stop gushing about Specimen 7 and dive deeper.
What can we speculate?
Let's shift our attention towards Specimen 5. Aka Bab. Probably the most cryptic and confusing specimen in the base game, exceeding even Specimen 7.

What about her? Well, we know that there's some connection between her and the protagonist, considering she's effective against those with mental issues or weak wills, both of which are what our protagonist clearly suffers from. We already knew that, but here's something interesting.
One thing that I always found intriguing about Spooky's was this consistent theme and emphasis on parental figures or children. You have Specimen 4 with her whole child eating thing and her locale being a school. You have Specimen 6 and him referring to his puppets as his children. You have Specimen 8 referring to his violent deer as his children. And you have Specimen 11, who's meat is heavily implied to be made out of children, taking account of the "we will find you" on the fun rules poster, the skull in the shoes rack, and the room with the bloody chain that can be found in the play area. What's even more interesting is that all of these specimens are the ones you face when trying to close the Hellgate in the Dollhouse DLC, with Specimen 11 replacing Specimen 4 in HDR. So there's some consistency there.

Then there's Bab. Who probably emphasizes this theme the most. Firstly, she's referred to as "mother" by her cult members.

Secondly there's these... things... that you can see hiding and twitching under some of the grates in Bab's locale that kinda resemble small children.

And lastly, there's the whole entire room that takes place in a womb with what looks like a fetus in the middle, as we hear the crying and wailing of a baby in the background... you know...

My question is why though? What's the deal with these parental themes? What's the deal with these themes with Bab? What are we supposed to take away from this? Well, symbolism was a fantastic friend of ours while we were talking about Specimen 7. Why not use it again here? We know that MC was traumatized by something in the past and it has been dwelling on them since. We also know that MC is a violent person or at the very least has violent desires. Typically violence isn't something that comes out of nowhere. There can be a handful of factors behind the cause of it, but It's often a learned behavior, such as through abuse and neglect from childhood.
With all these parental themes with some of the specimens, along with Specimen 5 having an emphasis on being a motherly figure and also being connected to MC via the CAT-DOS entry, I think these themes and Specimen 5 specifically can be used as a clue to figuring out what MC could have went through that made them the way they are. Here's my theory.
Specimen 5 is supposed to be symbolic of the child abuse that our protagonist faced during childhood. From what we can gather from the notes, Bab seems to be very quick to anger. Having killed all of her cult members because they made 1 single mistake. Sacrificing someone who wasn't a virgin. What if MC's mother or whoever they were was similar? Getting angry and violent over minor things or mistakes, causing them to lash out and inflict pain on them? If we assume this, this could explain where MC's violent and dangerous acts and urges came from. They got them from the toxic and abusive family they were in.

Hell, we could take it a step further and say that the church that Bab originated from could also be a hint into how MC's family was. Maybe they were the religious type since, not always but sometimes, families of that type can be very toxic and awful in terms of the environment the children have to live in. As for other things like the weird womb room and the weird creatures hiding under the grates, they could have potential meaning too.
The fetus in the womb room and the baby crying in the background could represent how MC feels like they have been in a constant state of misery and pain since birth. While the little creatures under the grates could represent how they felt trapped in their home environment. Being unable to leave and escape their situation for years until they were able to grow up into an adult.
With this theory, Bab is basically MC's past coming back to haunt them. Which makes it all the more unnerving to see this faceless mannequin slowly stroll towards you. Similar to Specimen 7, dying to this thing is pretty hard considering its speed, which fits thematically. As I said before, trauma doesn't chase, it creeps. If the protagonist wants to survive Bab? They just have to make a run for it and not turn back. However, unlike running away from Specimen 7 where it was you trying to not let your trauma consume you, running away from Bab could be seen as running away from your past and problems, which can have its consequences. It makes sense and is fitting considering who our player character is.
Now I want to go back to talking about the White Cat for a second. Because I believe they also might play a role into MC's past trauma.

Another thing that I find interesting about Spooky's is that cats get brought up a handful of times. You have the two adorable cat posters, the "hang in there!" poster and the cat in a box poster, that you can sometimes see in the elevator. You have the machine that gives us info about the specimens that is named CAT-DOS. You have the White Cat of course. And finally you have the cat that was killed by Nurse Tanaka.

Which makes me curious. What exactly is the White Cat? You first see her in room 406 and after room room 421 she completely disappears. She's never mentioned or seen anywhere else in the game. Well, remember the threshold of consciousness? She doesn't appear until you step over that threshold. This is made more obvious in the original version of Spooky's where you can literally see her appear out of thin air the moment you step over the line. In other words, she isn't actually real.
By stepping over the threshold of consciousness, you enter your personal unconscious. Which is made up of forgotten and repressed memories as mentioned before. Which brings some questions. Why a cat as your therapist? Why was that the first thing that came to MC's personal unconscious? Are they a forgotten memory? What's the deal with cats in this game? Well, take account of what color the White Cat is... white.
The color white can symbolize perfection, cleanliness, purity, innocence, hope, clarity, openness, wisdom, and peacefulness. These fit the White Cat pretty well. The protagonist thought of a being that could bring them wisdom, peace, and most importantly, comfort while in their mind. This being took the form of a white cat the moment they stepped over the threshold. This could be because of what cats symbolize. Grace, independence, fortune, protection, patience, intuition, and mystery.
That could be it, but focusing on the forgotten memories thing, I think it's something more personal. Taking account of Tanaka's note about hitting a cat with their car and killing it as a result, I think that the White Cat is representing a dead pet that the protagonist once had. A repressed, forgotten, and painful memory taking form of something that can help them while they're stuck in their own mind. Not saying that the White Cat has to be the same cat Tanaka killed. Just that it could be a possible hint to the White Cat's origins. A friend of the protagonist that they would later loose.
Now that we got everything wrapped up, we can make a little timeline/story out of this.
Who is the protagonist?
In an unknown year, the protagonist would be born and thus enter into this world, but instead of entering into a world with love and care, it was instead a world filled with toxicity and abuse. Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad at first, but overtime they would face physical, mental, and verbal abuse by their mother. Their father was either absent or they would inflict the same abuse on them. Overall, their life was a very bleak and depressing one. They did have some company though. Their cat. Despite the abuse they faced and how mentally drained and damaged they were from it, their cat always made them happy and feel love and warmth. The cat wasn't just a pet to them. It was their friend. Perhaps their only friend.
One day however, they would lose their friend, as the cat would be killed by being run over by a car. Now their warmth and comfort was gone. The one single thing that kept them going and made them feel somewhat sane was taken away from them. They felt alone and trapped in their abusive home. Nobody could bring them comfort now and they would suffer more because of it.
Not much is known about what happened after the cats death besides that, but eventually MC would leave their home behind once they grew into an adult. What came out the house was something twisted and broken however. Despite finally escaping their environment, they would continue to suffer from their very poor mental health. They were prone to becoming quickly angered or violent, which could have affected their relationships, work environment, or social status.
They were depressed and lonely. Talentless and limited. One thing that brought them some comfort was history. Getting to know more about the world they lived in intrigued them. So much so that maybe they would want to become an actual historian one day. But as of now, they were stuck in a boring and lifeless office job. Many thoughts and feelings would manifest as days, weeks, months, and eventually years passed. They wanted to do and become so much more, but they just couldn't. It felt impossible for them. That was until they saw an opportunity.
That old mansion. The many legends that they had heard about it. How anyone who enters into it will never return. They could go into that mansion and try to do something that nobody has ever done before. Learn about the history and origins behind the mansion and share it across the world. It was a risky and downright suicidal mission, but it's possible that due to the depression that they likely have, they wouldn't really care all that much. Either they could achieve their goal and finally be recognized for something or they would fail and die as a result. Either option was fine with them. So, they ventured into the mansion. Not knowing what strange horrors would await before them.
Conclusion
I think the protagonist of Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion is very interesting. I'm a fan of silent protagonists in general due to how open ended they usually are, leading to many fun theories and speculation about them. Our red eyed, axe crazy, history geek is no different. However, I was a bit disappointed in how they didn't seem to get talked about a lot in the Spooky's fandom after searching around for awhile. There's your theories about Specimen 7 and how they're connected to the protagonist obviously, but I hadn't seen anyone try to dive into what could've been their past trauma and why they're so violent in the first place.
I wanted this theory to focus on trying to figure out some potential backstory to our player character to the best of my ability, and although the theory may seem a bit out there in some areas, I think I did a decent job. This took awhile to make and going to all these websites to learn about Jungian therapy or color symbolism or what have you was pretty fun.
At the end of the day, it's evident that just by analyzing Specimen 7 alone, our protagonist is a sad, depressed, traumatized, and mentally ill one. No matter what you believe their backstory is, I think we can all agree on one thing.
This dude/gal/nonbinary pal desperately needs a hug. A tight one. A big ol bear hug.

Late Night Buck & Tommy Ramble: Shit is getting interesting
I honestly thought today was going to be fucking chill with no promo and maybe only a whisper or two about tomorrow's episode. We currently have 21 hours left until the new episode airs and we have so much to unpack because everyone is just out there wilding right now
Get yourself a drink and a snack and prepare yourself. There is a lot to discuss. Minor spoilers for tomorrow's episode in regards to stills and vague-ish comments by people who have seen the episode.
Buck & Tommy Related Chaos:
I'm going to start with the chaos: OLIVER AND LOU ARE DOING A JOINT INTERVIEW that was filmed today for Access Hollywood / Access Daily that will air tomorrow before the episode.
I am in total shock by this because I've been vocal that I didn't even think we'd get more interviews from these two before the season ended. I would have never dreamed that they'd have them doing a joint interview together.
This is a pretty huge (and good) sign, in my opinion. You wouldn't suddenly have two actors going out doing press together unless (from a marketing point of view) you're trying to promote that couple to the audience. This to me really does suggest they're planning on keeping Lou around and pushing BuckTommy.
I've heard crazy speculation about what the interview will be about but it airs before the episode so likely we won't get major spoilers. We'll likely see the two talking about their characters, what it's like working together and hinting at what is going to happen moving forward.
With that said, I'm really curious at how they're going to sell this on the show. We've already seen Ryan hitting the talking point that Eddie is straight in recent weeks, which seems to be an attempt to distancing themselves from Buddie. This interview tomorrow may possibly give us an idea where their heads are at moving forward.
Regardless, I think this is a strong indicator that Tommy isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I know some people are trying to downplay this as happening because Bi Buck was such a huge storyline but they could have easily just had Oliver on the show. Them having both of them makes this about their relationship, not just Buck coming out as Bi and that's a pretty big shift from the marketing we saw around episodes 4-5.
Lou also posted about it on his Instagram and Ryan liked it.
Also I cannot remember a time that they had Oliver doing interviews with his love interest on the show. Can anyone else?
The kiss on Instagram reels continues to do well. It's almost at 1.2 million, sitting currently at 1183k.
General Cast Information:
Let's start simple with the tweets coming out from press who saw tomorrow's episodes. The overwhelming theme with all of them seems to be a warning for us to prepare for some hurt. I'm preparing myself to watch Hen, Bobby and Eddie all go through hell tomorrow based on what we've seen on social media over the last 24 hours. So let's get into that.
Hen: Early today the official Instagram posted stills from the earlier episode where the councilwomen's son refuses treatment after he accident and dies (which leads to Hen being investigated). They then captioned this "A moment from the past can become so pivotal for your future" because clearly they want to hurt us. It also seems like that congress women is in the episode and we see her in one of the stills at the medal ceremony.
Bobby: It seems like he's going to have a nice father/son moment with Buck at some point this episode based on the stills and what Oliver has hinted at. But I think he'll also definitely be dealing with guilt.
Eddie: Dude I don't even know. Between Marisol being at the medal ceremony with him and Christopher and him taking a row boat out with Kim? This is going to get ugly.
All of the stills were really happy and we know that isn't what is happening in this episode so I'm pretty sure they're from the first 15 or 20 minutes. This show has been fucking with our heads with these promos.
We're very, very likely to get a sneak peak sometime tomorrow along with the Oliver&Lou interview.
I might attempt to make a ramble post talking about the interview prior to the episode depending on what time it airs.
So how are we all feeling? Cause I'm having all the fucking emotions.

I seem to always find lots and lots of discourse about block sets. Two sides of the same argument every time.
Side 1 says something like:"I hate all these random sets, I miss block sets."
To which, Side 2 says; "Well block sets never sold as well at the end, players attention span's are better suited for one and done blocks."
My problem with this response is that it essentially ignores the initial statement. Rather than clarifying what they mean, they assume and answer.
Personally, I miss block sets, but ONLY from a story perspective.
Basically, do sets exactly the same as you're doing now. Draft is better now than blocks were, standard with Foundations sounds fantastic. The only thing I'd like to see is a set of setup, and a set of payoff.
MKM was a set based on a murder mystery with the big twist ending basically included in the release, as an example. It could've benefitted from a real, but delayed, payoff. Set up the consequences for each suspect, then reveal and give different consequences that were hinted at in other ways. Bam. Improved.
The last time we visited New Phyrexia, it was a block, I remember ubiquitous speculation over how the story would wrap up. There were factions events at local game stores, branded posters and packs for the factions at play, etc. I had a friend get the New Phyrexian emblem tattooed on themselves. The story felt *Important* and so much less divorced from magic than it does today.
Usually, in my experience, when someone asks for blocks, they're asking for the story to matter. There are lots of mechanically interesting card games out there, and mechanics are only part of what makes magic, magic!
All I would ask is that writers get the opportunity to do setups and payoffs with magic's evolving story with multiple sers, and that story related sets have *some* play synergies. They don't need to share mechanical themes just to share story themes, but it would be a nice little florish if they had mechanical synchronisets,
Hell, a REALLY good idea (in my opinion) would be to do these sets in a different order than the old method. Modern fantasy novels swap POV characters and follow different stories. Why not set up multiple stories in a row, then start to alternate resolving an older, established plot line, and then starting a new one or swapping to another established one. This really gives players time to get interested and speculate (and making the story FEEL present will likely also boost novels and comics numbers, etc., if you need a monetary reasoning.)

We already do a lot of what you’re asking. Each Magic “year” does have a larger connected story, often with different POV characters.
