but yeah, it is interesting that the game so far has Connie mostly act identical to all Ios (makes sense and is a writing decision i really like actually: Connie doesn't know or trust any of these Ios, of course Connie should treat them all similarly), even in romance. and playing as an Io who is cautious, kind, a good listener, and shy (so not exactly like Ira, but closer to Ira than Val for sure) while in a Connie Romance while Connie is still as upset at having to even be in the presence of an Io that is like this as they are at Ios who act like Vals or are annoying in their own way— it's great for headcanon-ing angst, like the Connie and Ira scene where this brand of Io gets to see Connie treat Ira (again, someone with a similar personality as this specific brand of Io) clearly like Ira way more???

and like?? this Io doesn't know what theyve done wrong to make Connie dislike them? and the answer is simply "you exist in association with Val, and it actually has nothing to do with this specific version of an Io", and then for my specific Io, this behavior of Connie's actually makes Io cling more to Val bc my Io doesnt get what they're doing "wrong" to have gotten Connie's ire and my Io trusts Val to comfort them bc like... Val is my Io's best friend, and the more alone and rejected my Io feels, the more they are going to silently cuddle and try not to cry in Val's arms. and that's across the board, not just with Connie, but especially is true in a Connie romance

Just drop out while you’re ahead, there’s no way you’ll do better than ‘T’ on your O.W.L.S.”

The red head's face fell into a cartoonish frown, eyes fixing back to the textbook in his lap. He had asked Sebastian to study with him again, like they often did, because he was not doing well studying alone. He found it too hard to focus, always picking up different books, doodling, or even starting to clean; it was much easier when he had someone to body double, and Sebastian just so happened to be free.

They fell back into a comfortable silence, the sound of their breathing and the hearth in the middle of the room being the only noise. Garreth felt his eyes start to grow heavy, the windows dark and the lamps creating a warm inviting atmosphere. They had been studying for what felt like hours, the time dragging when Sebastian wouldn’t speak, versus slipping by when the Slytherin would actually humor him for a while.

He opened his eyes again, blearily looking down at the book sprawled across his lap, before noticing Sebastian’s hand on his thigh. Garreth paused, body becoming rigid as he realized what the other boy was doing. Sebastian flipped another page of his book nonchalantly, and Garreth glanced at him from his peripheral vision, then immediately back down to his hand.

Freckled fingers made a squeezing motion before moving up, fingertips barely connecting to the bulge that lay beneath his plaid brown trousers. “Should’ve known not to ask you.” The brunet said airily, followed by the sound of another page flipping. Garreth moved his hand up, but had to choke down a sigh as Sebastian's hand pawed at him more intently, as if egging him on. “Maybe we can ask- N-Natty-“ Garreth’s hand found its way to the lacing of Sebastian's trousers, clumsy fingers doing their best to undo them while still looking away.

Another page turned, and a soft sigh from the Slytherin, his hips rocking up.

The redhead's face started to match the color of his hair, his own breathing catching in his throat. “If she’s done it. Wouldn’t be surprised if she gets extra time because of the match today.” Sebastian's voice was calm, a bit deeper, but if Garreth didn’t know how hard he was getting he would think the Slytherin was simply reading and nothing more.

Wanting to not be the only one in disarray, Garreth forgot to answer, and instead forced his hand under the waistband of Sebastian's pants, trying not to think about the way he twitched when he finally did. Sebastian moved then, Garreth seeing him grab his wand, closing the thick red curtains on his four poster.

“Muffliato.” Sebastian whispered, then tossed his wand to the foot of the bed, turning another page of his book.

Garreth let his head fall back as Sebastian quickly, and efficiently, unlaced his trousers, pulling him out. Not wanting the textbook to fall, he wasn’t able to bite at his hand, or cover his mouth to avoid embarrassment. So instead, he looked down, assuming the sight of a boy's hand instead of the girls he was trying so hard to imagine would bring him back down a bit. when I started shipping it if I did: pilot episode kiss, ngl, where it establishes that they must already be on-and-off hooking up in between sniping at each other about classified information. Lucy just shows up at her apartment!

my thoughts: when I watched this show I was genuinely bewildered by how this CBS procedural NCIS spin-off....just has a whole-ass lesbian romcom happening in its first season? The S1 finale literally ends on them getting together via a grand gesture with the rest of the team cheering.

anyway, they're so fun! they hit a lot of dynamics I like - Lucy loves loudly and openly while Whistler is brittle and contained, they have tension with a history, the height difference is cute, and man, maybe for a different ship all the drama in 1B would've been too much, but for these two I loved it, and not just because Whistler made the best kicked puppy faces while pining hopelessly

my random headcanons on when they each realize they're gay is that Lucy realizes in middle school and Whistler realizes in college, not too long before Noah's death. Don't think anything in canon contradicts that

What makes me happy about them: they're so ridiculously fond of each other. The consistent hearteyes they aim at each other while engaging in tropey shenanigans and still being individually competent agents makes me very happy. When it comes to the relationship angst, I like that for them it's never closeted/sexuality angst but their very different personalities, the usual fwb-to-lovers difficulties, Whistler's big mistake, and working together. They've been no less delightful as an established relationship in S2 and S3 - I love how much the show loves them, they literally got a ficcy-as-hell undercover-as-couple subplot last episode with all the usual gimmicks

Oh, I also did not anticipate how much physical fighting this procedural would have, and as someone who always wants my faves to get wrecked, I have been very well-served. Lucy almost dying while undercover right after Kate crushes her heart! Whistler getting injured while they're broken up and Lucy yelling at her for it! Such good food. (Show, you can keep beating up Whistler every season, I will never complain.)

What makes me sad about them: Their families, and the resulting loneliness. Lucy talks about her sister and brothers like a youngest kid who used to be close to them but isn't any more, last ep she commented that she knew from a very young age that her parents would never throw her a big wedding like her brothers', the way she gets set off by "financially responsible" as a rationale + her family's money has implications there. Kate's confession of how she shut herself off from the world after Noah's death.

But I like that they know about these things for each other (the way Whistler goes "Right. Right." at Lucy's comment tells us they've talked about this before), and the way they're navigating around and disarming each other's landmines here

things done in fanfic that annoys me: I understand that this is the danger of stepping back into another blonde/brunette live-action f/f ship but I cannot deal with those epithets. Or "taller woman"/"shorter woman" either, all of it always makes the PoV character sound like she has a complex about hair or height. It is okay to use the characters' names, I promise.

things I look for in fanfic: .....I've become such a hipster about characterizations for these two. Lucy is the one who broods and contemplates her feelings, Kate is the one who acts without thinking and gets surprised by her own reactions. Whistler is the one with better work-life balance and hobbies, who moved from DC to Hawai'i and stayed there despite the former being way better for a fed career, who goes surfing every Saturday morning without bothering to be contactable by work, and Lucy is the one who describes her life as consisting solely of "work, gym, and [Whistler]" and sometimes does paperwork on the weekends.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Gosh, I really have no other Lucy ships. For Whistler, I could 100% ship Whistler/Tennant if it was like, after the kids are grown. Why do they stand so close to each other in that 1x14 coffee conversation and say each other's full titles, or have Whistler demonstrate career-threatening levels of loyalty to Tennant, if not to make me contemplate this ship? I hope Sam Hanna's presence doesn't mean we don't get any Tennant-Whistler stuff this season.

My happily ever after for them: Just keep on being badass agents together and stay in Hawaii long-term. Don't really see them having kids, but I can totally see Lucy convincing Whistler of having a cat. ...Maybe get a shorter bed, does Lucy really have to climb that high every night XD.

Finally, neither of them could make it in time and have to watch as (I'm torn between Marco and Ace because they're cuties but I'm going with Marco cause he'd be an ass about it to Thatch and Izou as revenge for something) Marco dryly notes the mistletoe.

Nikia gives a long sigh, visibly drooping.

"...I was hoping you wouldn't say anything about that."

Not one to be a total prick, usually--without it being earned--Marco hesitates.

"I know. Just embarrassing is all. Do I have to?" Nikia asks softly.

I made a little more progress toward having my VLD word count beat Spider-Man. it's still far off, but it's over halfway now!

40k in 42 days wrapped up this month, and that went way better than I expected with well over 40k drafted in those 42 days. BUT I am already so much happier NOT tracking my word count every day, so I'm glad to be done with the challenge too.

I KNOW I have been promising this bingo prompt fill for months now, but I'm here to shamefully say I failed that again. October for sure ;_;

finished the outline I said I'd do, but it could use some fine details. even having the loose plan has helped a lot with drafting though, so I'm happy with it.

Seven Songs of Suffering was a surprise because I fully forgot I was going to do it until the day it started, but that was also fun! 10/10, will be trying week-long challenges again when they come up.

ngl, I fully intended to get most of that editing done this month, but when I got into it I figured out that is Not Reasonable. (in my defense, I could EASILY read 177k of someone else's fics, but 177k of my OWN? in a MONTH? no.) also, once I got into it, I realized how much I despise looking at my own Spider-Man fics right now, so that's making things hard. so I guess that'll be a goal I slowly work on.

I am officially BURNED OUT on LTS(LTFH), but I hit all my goals AND reach goals for it. I skipped writing for it one day this month and had a few days where I was under my daily word count par. For October, I'm giving myself a free pass to write as little as I want for it. Instead, I'm hoping to focus on writing oneshots and (perhaps more importantly) reading other people's fics. I feel like I'm not soaking in enough inspiration because I've REALLY cut back on my reading time to make room for all this writing.

I'm not technically done with LTS(LTFH) for the month, but I'm leaving out whatever else I draft in the next hour and a half because I want to finish up this progress post now.

Daily average excluding 1 day not written: 1,528

also I DID massage the expected post dates a bit based on expected chapter counts, so only fic 1 is in a rush at this point. the rest have so much content to get through posting before them that I'm a little less worried about finishing them on time. (chapters for longer fics calculated assuming ~3.5k/chapter, not based on actual outlines)

As promised, I'm focusing on editing this month! No fandom update--you're still stuck with my Voltron obsession. I plan to publish one new chapter or oneshot tops since I'm focused on other things. (I have not been in a mood to finalize drafts, so I keep starting or working on them but not finishing.)

Pairing: Sherlock Holmes x Fem!Reader

Sherlock Holmes & Mrs. Hudson & John Watson & Reader

Summary: Although your relationship with Sherlock is still relatively new and he still has a lot to learn about how people interact with one another, the two of you are beginning to understand each other better, even if Sherlock did believe that he should attach mistletoes so that he could kiss you whenever he wanted.

John began decorating the apartment an hour ago, but he didn't get much done. He wasn't sure how long the detective would be entertained by just trying to assist you in purchasing gifts for the others and items from Mrs. Hudson's shopping list that weren't really necessary for Christmas. Sherlock would soon understand what everyone was attempting, it was pretty obvious. Get him out of here so they can at least decorate this apartment for the holiday.

He abruptly halted what he was doing when he suddenly heard someone climbing the stairs. Mrs. Hudson opened the door while holding a little box and John abruptly let out a breath after realizing he had been holding it just moments earlier, feeling relieved that it wasn’t Sherlock.

“Oh dear, perhaps you should take a break. It is obvious that you won’t finish decorating anytime soon.” the elderly woman smiled somehow sadly at him.

“Well, if I had help from others, it would have been finished by now.” John spoke aloud in a harsh manner.

“Don’t hold that against me. I am the one doing all the cooking.” As Mrs. Hudson eventually set the box down on the couch and made her way outside, she stated in an irritated voice.

As he went to check what was in the package, John sighed. It was disappointing to decorate an apartment alone when it was supposed to be something you would do with your friends and family. However, he didn't have the right to snap at the poor woman because she had already accepted so many things Sherlock and he had done. But was it really that simple when you shared a home with Sherlock Holmes? But when it came to the detective, nothing was, in fact simple.

He was a little shocked by what Mrs. Hudson had brought him. But not in a bad way. The box was filled with mistletoes. Even though he had no idea how she could have obtained this, he knew better than to question her. He could take one or two, they wouldn’t hurt anybody hopefully.

He grabbed one and walked up to Sherlock's armchair, but before he hopped on it, John placed a newspaper over it since he didn't want Sherlock to become upset that he climbed on it while wearing his shoes. Only the great detective could do that since it was his chiar. He could be such a drama queen sometimes, but that’s just how the young Holmes is.

He took the tape from the small table and the doctor lifted the mistletoe over his head and eased it up to stick it on the ceiling. As he climbed down and took the newspaper in his hands, he wrinkled it as he threw it in one of the small trash cans. Might as well get rid of the evidence, right?

Perhaps he could hang one more right at the door? Even though it was a bad idea, nobody could have stopped him. He managed to climb on a small chair, but attaching it to the ceiling was a little bit more difficult. He did lose his balance once, but it undoubtedly didn't seem to stop him.

Although he was pleased with himself, John felt as though he would never be able to finish decorating this apartment as he once more glanced out the window and noticed that the Christmas tree was still slightly blank. He went to begin decorating it once more after retrieving the box of decorations.

The grocery store isn’t a place you would normally consider crowded. It's rather easy to get in and out of aisles without having to weave through threads of people, but Christmas was coming up and everyone was buying food like there was no tomorrow. It didn’t matter that they would have throw out half of the food when the holidays are over.

Sherlock worked very hard to keep himself entertained since he didn't want to be a burden to you. He scrutinized everyone who passed him, looking for even the smallest detail that wasn't even really significant in order to infer something about their life. The seconds were flying by, and he was beginning to grow increasingly bored and everyone knew that Sherlock Holmes should never grow bored. He was perplexed as to why fewer crimes occurred over the holidays. It didn't matter whether anyone died during them. A crime was a crime, as if the killers would receive acclaim if they avoided killing around orthodox holidays. The way regular people thought was so bizarre to him.

He watched you as you read the list Mrs. Hudson provided you while growing increasingly impatient as he struggled mightily to come up with something he ought to do. He snatched it from you against his better judgment since he didn't want to be here anymore, eliciting a startled gasp from you.

“Sherlock!” You said as you turned to follow the detective.

"I feel that if I stay here any longer, my brain will rot. You can attempt to keep me outside the building all you want; I don't care. The sooner we leave, the better.” He gave an explanation as he started to select the items Mrs. Hudson had written.

“Was it really that obvious?” You asked in a defeated tone while attempting to match his pace.

He slowed down and nodded briefly as he gave you a faraway "yes" while turning his head away from you and looking ahead. You weren't surprised, but you were a little let down. Well, you did know who you were dating.

As he started to make is way straight to the baking aisle, you were a little held back by other people. It’s not that it was that hard to pinpoint where the detective exactly was, thanks to his height, but somehow you couldn’t see him. Just then someone slipped his hands into yours and you glanced up, seeing Sherlock.

“If we want to get home sooner, it would be beneficial if you didn’t get lost. It would take some time to find you.” He said as you felt his fingers thighten around your hand.

As you allowed yourself to be dragged by him, you grinned a little. Maybe you should text John to let him know you'll be home sooner than expected.

While listening to Christmas music and halfway through decorating the tree, the doctor was unaware that the door had been opened.

Even if you did send him a text, it wasn't very effective because he didn't see it. In addition to the music playing through the entire apartment, John left his phone in the kitchen and set it to mute. He couldn't really do much at this point, especially since both of you had returned.

You initially went to Mrs. Hudson and left her the grocery bags, saying you would return to assist her as soon as you had left the gifts upstairs. Maybe, just maybe, you were interested in Sherlock's reaction as well, hoping that he wouldn't act out as he did the year before.

For a short while, the detective remained silent, and you were staring directly at him while he examined the entire apartment. You weren’t sure if he had any issues with the decorations or not.

"Why is this parasite hanging over my chair?" he asked at that same moment.

Yup, there it was.

Swiftly approaching it, Sherlock snatched it off the ceiling and dropped it into the trash. He raised an eyebrow when he noticed how you and John were looking at him.

"You and Y/N were just standing under the mistletoe moments ago," John said as he observed the detective's devastation. How could he fail to notice something that was right in front of him?

Your boyfriend wasn't even concerned about what it truly meant as you walked over to him; instead, he was only pondering on how he hadn't been able to notice the mistletoe at the entrance the first time. He was startled out of his reverie when you rose to your tiptoes and gave him a swift kiss, noticing a hint of pink brightening your cheeks.

“What was that for?” He asked bewildered

“You are familiar with the tradition, right?” You looked at him while chuckling slightly as he didn’t know what to say.

Given that Sherlock Holmes believed his brain to be similar to a hard drive, it only made sense to store useful information there. He didn't think the customs of Christmas would be useful after all.

“John, see if you can make him help you, I’ll go aid Mrs. Hudson.” You said while also leaving the flat.

As John began to assemble some candy canes on the tree, the doctor did not even make an attempt to persuade him to assist him. It appeared as though he was actually looking at the Grinch. He didn't understand why Sherlock was so opposed to anything that was Christmas-related.

John continued to embellish it with globs and some lights but the detective suddenly disturbed the comfortable silence. “Where are the mistletoes?”

Sherlock would occasionally come across you throughout the day, lead you somewhere where there was mistletoe, like outside the kitchen or the hall, and give you a short kiss before leaving you so he could clean the apartment. Even though you didn't understand what was going on with him, you would just resume helping Mrs. Hudson since you didn't want to question him.

He occasionally had you go where there was mistletoe hanging from the ceiling even after the guests arrived and the party started. This was the first time that the presence of other people didn't matter. Sherlock never kissed you in front of others, so you knew something was off. So, you began to ask yourself even more questions, even if you did know that you couldn't find your answers yet.

You didn't even have the courage to ask him what had actually happened today while you were lying in bed with him. Yes, Sherlock would typically behave strangely, but not in that way. And that kept you up.

You have a routine of rising late at night to get a glass of water. Really nothing out of the ordinary for anyone, but because you were having trouble falling asleep, Sherlock realized that something wasn't right.

You were being held by the detective in a soft yet firm manner. Unaware that he wasn't even sleeping, you made an effort to escape his grasp. Just then Sherlock Holmes' anxious voice suddenly reverberates through the empty space. “Is there something wrong?”

“No, don't worry. Just want a glass of water.” The detective eventually let go of his hold on you. He just realized how big of an impact you had already had on his life as he saw you discreetly stand up and leave the room. Now that he was accustomed to your touch, being alone didn't feel right. It's strange to consider that he reacted negatively when you originally suggested cuddling.

He began to wonder what was keeping you up at night and somehow came to certain conclusions without knowing if they were true. As he lifted his head to look at you, Sherlock must have been too preoccupied with his thoughts to notice when you entered the room.

“Is everything all right?” As you once more get onto the bed and sit next to him, you inquire.

“You have a question, don’t you?” He states bluntly as he wraps his hands around you again. “So let’s have it.”

“What was up with you today?” You asked as you tilted your head slightly.

“I am— not quite following Y/N.” He says unsure as he changes his position, allowing you to get closer to him.

“The mistletoes?” You ask as Sherlock becomes more rigid “They were everywhere today.”

“I should have asked you if I could kiss you, right? I’m sorry. I thought that I could do it without asking for consent if I used the mistletoes.” He says quietly.

“What?” You chuckle a little, which only confuses the great detective further. Despite his brilliance, it was obvious that he still had a lot to learn about emotions and interpersonal relationships.

"I don't—"

"Sherlock, you don't have to ask me every time you want to kiss me. We are a couple. We didn't snuggle like this before, but we do now because it's pleasant for both of us. You don’t need my consent for some things and that includes kissing for me.” You explain as Sherlock brings you closer to him.

“Are you certain?”

“Yes.” You informed him as he nodded and silently uttered ‘oh’

For a while, neither of you said anything, but then Sherlock probes once more: "But are you really sure that you are fine with it?"

You stayed quiet beside him and the detective raised a hand to your nose. Of course, now was when you fell asleep.

His eyes rolled under his eyelides as he rolled over. “Goodnight, Y/N” he murmured, aligning his arm over the curve of your side. “And Merry Christmas..”

For the older Haitani, taking things seriously isn't really in his vocabulary. After all, life's too short to be uptight all the time. But of course, there's always one exception to the rule - you.

As his s/o, Ran has always respected you. You were the only one who was able to tolerate his attitude, and you were the only one who stood beside him and Rindou while they were in and out of jail before they became Bonten executives.

So it was only natural that Ran treats you like the queen you are because you deserve it.

"Ran, I think that's too much." You clutched your boyfriend's arm while pointing to the paper bag he's holding. "You don't have to splurge on Cartier for me."

Ran smirked at you, "Babe, trust me. This doesn't even cost an eight of what I earn."

You rolled your eyes at your boyfriend. Trying your best to fight the smile that's already forming on your lips. "Yeah, I know. But-"

Without even realizing it, you accidentally bumped into someone.

"Oh, I'm really so-"

"Oh, Y/N!" A familiar but unwelcomed voice said.

You looked up to apologize, and surprisingly, it was your old 'friend' from College whom you had to cut off for several reasons.

"Oh hi, Y/F/N! It's been a long time!"

"Yeah, yeah." She looked at you from head to toe and then to Ran. Forcing a smile on her face. "I'm surprised you're with a man! And a hot one at that. What's gotten into you? Did you manage to seduce him?"

Ran grinned at the sight unraveling before him. It's not like he's actually happy with your friend, but at the fact that he's going to make someone cry today.

Fighting back the urge to roll your eyes, you smiled at your friend. "Oh, actually I-"

"You know, Y/N isn't popular back then. And I'm guessing you must have already known why." Your friend cut you off, now talking to the tall man beside you.

"Ehhh? And why is that?" Ran asked with a smug look on his face.

"C'mon now! Just look at them!" Your friend exclaimed. Suddenly leaning to your boyfriend, too close for your liking. "But I can make you happier, you know."

To your surprise, Ran suddenly let go of your hand, and held your friend's shoulder. "Is that so?"

"I'm a catch." Your friend winked.

"Then..." Your boyfriend gripped your friend's shoulder tightly, then pushed them all of a sudden. "Get the fuck away from me and my woman."

Your friend suddenly tripped from your boyfriend's push. Ran immediately crouched down to your friend's level.

"You smell like cheap cologne. Your shoes are out of season. Like what, from four years ago? Your eyebrows look like they're drawn by a sharpie. You-"

Feeling bad for your friend and not wanting to make a scene anymore, you pulled your boyfriend's hand. "Ran, that's enough. Let's go"

"You're not even in Y/N's level so stay the fuck away." Ran whispered one last time before getting up and following your orders.

You and Ran immediately left the scene, not wanting to draw more attention.

"Ran, they were about to cry." You confronted your boyfriend.

"Heh, I wasn't even done. Have you seen their hair? Man I really wanted to"

"Ran, that was too much."

Your boyfriend sighed and nodded. Surprising you with a kiss on your forehead. "There's nothing too much for my queen, though."

Hiding the smile of content on your face, you bit the inside of your cheeks.

Maybe he was right. Maybe some people just deserve to be put in their place.

Rindou Haitani

For some people outside your relationship, Rindou doesn't seem like he cares. With his stoic face and quite impudent nature, there's a point on why outsiders see it that way.

However, Rindou is one affectionate and patient boyfriend. No matter how much he tries to hide it, his overflowing emotions would betray him.

You slid your hand across the table, trying to feel the warmth of Rindou's hand as your cup of coffee began to lose its warmth.

In return, your boyfriend held your hand tightly. His other hand is on his chin while he looks away, trying to hide the red tint on his cheeks.

You and Rindou were enjoying the peace surrounding you two in a café where you invited him. Rindou immediately agreed since it was rare for him to enjoy the serenity without his annoying brother.

Still, all good things must come to an end. Your peace was suddenly interrupted with an uninvited guest.

"Oh my! Fancy meeting you here, Y/N!"

Your eyes immediately shot up and looked at the person standing next to your table.

"Oh, hi Y/F/N." You smiled forcefully, trying to hide your annoyance from the interruption.

Rindou looked up lazily to the person, then looked at you. Although he might have already had an idea as to who the person is, your boyfriend still raised his brows as if asking.

"Oh, uhm Rindou, this is Y/F/N. We used to be on the same organization in College." You explained. "And, Y/F/N, this is Rindou, my boyfriend."

"Oh wow." Your boyfriend gaped at your boyfriend. Their eyes already screaming at how much they want your man.

To you and Rindou's surprise, your friend immediately sat next to Rindou without even asking.

Your boyfriend could only look scrunch his brows as he tries to fight the urge to flip off the table.

"Look, I don't really pry that much in relationships. But let me warn you..." Your friend leaned on to Rindou "Y/N won't take you seriously. She dated a bunch of our colleagues back then, and none even lasted enough for her."

You look at your friend wide-eyed. "Y/F/N. That was a long time ago, and I was immature back then."

"Meh, old habits die hard, Y/N." Your friend rolled their eyes at you. "So..." Suddenly they snaked up their hand on Rindou's chest, "take a pity on your gorgeous boyfriend, and let him go. Right?"

While Rindou may be a patient man for you, he can only take so much for other people. And your so-called friend was one of them.

Your boyfriend suddenly stood up, surprising both you and your friend.

"Look, Y/F/N. I don't give a fuck about how many guys Y/N dated because that's understandable for a gorgeous person like her." Your boyfriend suddenly held onto your friend's collar, "And your pathetic little attempt of seducing me won't work. Just look at you."

Your friend can do nothing but gasp at Rindou's remarks as he stormed out of the café while he grabbed your hand.

While walking towards the car, Rindou suddenly let go of your hand.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Your boyfriend looked at you with his brows scrunched together.

"I'm sorry that I didn't tell you that I dated some of my colleagues back then. I thought-"

"No. Why didn't you tell me that you have a friend like that? I could've taught them a lesson for you." Rindou said, his gaze suddenly softening. "That's not even a friend, Y/N."

You hugged Rindou. Burying your face in his blazer to hide your embarrassment. "I'm sorry."

Rindou patted your head. Further drowning you on the warmth of his arms to comfort you.

Sanzu Haruchiyo

Before even getting in a relationship with Sanzu, you had a fair share of warnings and disapproval from your friends and family. Although it may seem understandable considering that he's a high-profile criminal, there's a lot of things they wouldn't understand.

They wouldn't understand the euphoria someone like Sanzu brings into your life. And they wouldn't understand how he's a safe space in all of the chaos.

"Fuck babe. You're doing it again." A voice suddenly interrupted your train of thoughts.

"Oh, sorry. What is it, Sanzu?" You leaned on the pink-haired man next to you. Trying to convey your expression despite the loud noise of the crowd and blinding lights before you.

Sanzu smiled as you leaned next to him, "You just look gorgeous tonight baby. I'm just saying, maybe we can get home early tonight."

You deadpanned at your boyfriend. Hand running through your hair, you sighed once again. "Babe, we're celebrating Bonten's success tonight. So no."

Sanzu rolled his eyes before chugging the Cognac on the countertop of the bar. To his surprise, the Cognac was immediately refilled by the bartender.

You made a double look at the bartender leaning in front of Sanzu. And to your surprise, it was one of your friends and colleague.

"Y/F/N!" You exclaimed, wanting them to acknowledge you too, instead of just being in front of your boyfriend.

"Oh. Y/N!" They smiled. A look of disappointment plastered on their face "I didn't see you there."

"You work here now?" You asked out of curiosity.

"Yeah. I actually just got in a few minutes ago." Your friend smiled, "And who's this?"

"Oh uhm, he's Sanzu. My boyfriend." You proudly said, "And Sanzu, this is my friend, Y/F/N."

"I feel bad for you." Your friend frowned at Sanzu, "Y/N here doesn't really know any fun. I mean, just look at her! Boring, right?"

You immediately felt all your confidence crumble in a matter of seconds. Feeling embarrassed by your friend, you immediately pulled your boyfriend's arm.

However, Sanzu just gripped your hand. As if trying to tell you to just stay in your seat.

"Oh?? And how about you?" Sanzu asked. A hint of sarcasm and annoyance dripped in his tone.

"Well, perhaps we can have fun tonight." Your friend leaned on the countertop, whispering in your boyfriend's ear. "I'm fun to be with."

"I don't think so." Sanzu grinned, "Y/N's boring you say? I mean, your pathetic attempt to entice me isn't exciting at all. You can't even compare to my Y/N."

Suddenly both to you and your friend's surprise, Sanzu pulled your friend by the neck. His hand choking the life out of them.

"See, I don't know if you know me or not, but I'll make sure that the moment we leave this club, you'll be fired from this job of yours and everybody in Tokyo will know how much of a bitch you are."

Your friend could only quiver in fear. While you, seeing that the situation escalated quickly, pulled Sanzu away from the bar.

"SANZU!" You exclaimed. "That was too much! You scared them!"

"As they should." Sanzu smiled at you. "I only did what I had to Y/N. What they did was too much, too."

"But-"

You sighed. Not wanting to prolong the argument, you cupped your boyfriend's cheeks, "But promise me, you'll control yourself next time, okay?"

"I'll try to, princess." Sanzu smiled, his hands on your hips, "So, can we go home now?"

"No."

Kokonoi Hajime

It took quite some time before you and Koko got together. Although he might have had his heart broken before, the second time around trying with someone was different. Most especially it was you.

You were patient around him, and kind enough to understand the trauma and pain he's been through. Thus, Koko was a protective boyfriend around you.

"Koko, you really don't have to accompany me here. I'm literally just getting my nails done!" You sighed as you trailed behind your boyfriend. "Don't you have a meeting with Sanzu tonight?"

"Cancelled it. It's not urgent anyway." Koko waved his hand, a sign that it was time for you to drop the topic.

Koko opened the salon's door. The smell of toluene immediately hits you.

As you were about to talk to the reception about your appointment, you felt a tap on your shoulder.

"Y/N?"

To your surprise, it was a friend of yours at work. You immediately smiled, not wanting to be impolite, "Oh, hi Y/F/N!"

"You're doing your nails today? But I thought you were still the plain Y/N I know!" Your friend laughed.

Deciding to ignore her rude remarks, you pulled Koko by his hand "Y/F/N, this is my boyfriend, Koko. And Koko, meet my friend, Y/F/N."

"I didn't know you got a boyfriend now!" Your friend exclaimed. "How come? I mean Y/N isn't really the type to attract men. Especially someone your type."

Koko immediately frowned at the rude remark. "Y/N's a great girlfriend. So I have no idea what you're trying to imply."

"C'mon now! I'll show you what I'm talking about." Your friend nudged Koko, "How about meeting me at my place tonight?"

You immediately raised a brow at your friend's remark. While Koko, clearly annoyed at your friend suddenly snapped.

"Look. I don't know who the fuck do you think you are, but you're clearly crossing the line with my girlfriend." Koko pointed a finger at her, "And never, will I ever go out with a low life like you."

Overwhelmed with the way your boyfriend defended you, you suddenly grabbed your boyfriend's wallet, and took a couple of hundred dollars.

"He's right. And go buy a new personality." You immediately handed the money to your friend and stormed out of the salon.

Koko surprised with how sassy you became, suddenly hugged you from your back. "Babe, I didn't know you can be like that."

You held into your boyfriend's hand and leaned, "I know. And thank you for defending me, Koko"

"And babe?" Koko whispered, sending goosebumps in your skin.

"That's Bonten's money. Not mine."

You turned around and faced your boyfriend with a surprised look on your face, "Well shit."

a.k.a. yet another meta dissection of The Apology. I actually wrote most of this up on Friday night based on the original Japanese (@pikahlua​ has an excellent translation up here, and I also used @hanashimas’ translations as a reference as well), but I wanted to wait until the official release, though that turned out to be a mixed bag to say the least lol.

I would also recommend reading @pikahlua​ and @class1akids​’ breakdowns of this scene (here and here, respectively), because they are excellent, and because if any scene deserves to have as many meta breakdowns written about it as possible, it’s this one.

anyway so here goes.

Caleb did a more accurate job with this than the fanscan, even if he did try his best to take us out of the seriousness of the moment by throwing in that swiss cheese line lol. anyway so there are two things I want to talk about here. the first is the line about Izuku not remembering, which I thought was a nice touch. of course he doesn’t remember what Kacchan said back then. he wasn’t exactly in the soundest emotional state after seeing one of the people he cares about most taking a near-fatal blow that was meant for him. I’d be shocked if he remembers anything about the aftermath (including the way he flew into a mindless rage afterwards) right up until the point when he entered the OFA Interstellar Party Void with Tomura. anyway, so I thought that was a nice callback.

and speaking of emotional states, the other thing I wanted to talk about is the part that Caleb got right which the fan scanlation didn’t. “but I had more to say.” in other words, “stop trying to win on your own” wasn’t just a one-liner; it was meant to be the beginning of a much longer speech. “there were other things that I needed to say.”

like, can we just stop and talk about that for a second. because basically what this means is that in that instant, when Kacchan pushed Deku out of the way and got impaled, his one and only thought was that he needed to apologize to Deku. his life was presumably flashing before his eyes, he had no idea if he was going to survive or not, and the only thing on his mind was how urgently he needed to make things right with his former childhood friend.

moving on!

so I have a confession to make, which is that I am relieved to see Katsuki describing this as the reason why he bullied Deku, as opposed to Horikoshi trying to retcon it into some sort of “secretly he was just trying to protect him and keep him out of harm’s way because he was worried” thing, which ngl would not have gelled very well with me. the thing is that I’m really not a fan of the whole “Kacchan Did Nothing Wrong” mentality that some fans seem to have. like, I have seen all sorts of convoluted attempts to find excuses for Katsuki’s shitty behavior, but in my view those attempts undermine what I love about his character in the first place. Katsuki is such a great character specifically because he is not perfect. his redemption arc is so compelling because he was such a giant asshole at the start. he was completely at fault, and he acknowledges this, and takes full responsibility for it. and that is fucking fantastic.

his arc is so great because it doesn’t rely on garnering sympathy by giving him a Tragic Past, or by trying to foist the blame for his behavior over on someone else. it’s an arc that acknowledges that redemption isn’t something you achieve by making people feel sorry for you; it’s something you have to earn by actively working to change and do better. and by forgoing the “misunderstood/tragic past” route, Horikoshi is making a statement that anyone can go down the wrong path, but that more importantly, anyone can also choose at any time to turn away from said path. there is only one requirement for doing so, and that is realizing that you’ve done wrong, and deciding that you want to change.

anyway, so in chapter 284 Kacchan of course had that whole speech about Deku not taking himself into account, and mentioned how that made him want to keep his distance. and a good chunk of fandom took this to mean that Katsuki’s bullying was actually a misguided response to Deku’s reckless tendencies -- sort of an “if I show him how weak and powerless he really is, I can get him to accept the reality that he’s quirkless, and that being a hero will just get him hurt or killed” type of thing. and I won’t lie, for a good while I was wondering myself if Horikoshi was really going to go down that route. and like I said, I am honestly relieved that he didn’t. not only for the reasons stated in the previous paragraph, but also because the message that would have sent -- that there are certain circumstances in which bullying can almost be excused because the bully had Good Intentions and was just trying to save the other person from themselves, and so it Wasn’t That Bad, Actually -- is all kinds of fucked up to say the least. so yeah, I’m glad we ended up steering well clear of that.

(ETA: this post was long enough already so I edited out the 3 additional paragraphs I originally wrote analyzing the dialogue from 284. but just to be clear, I’m not trying to imply that Kacchan worrying about Deku’s recklessness is a retconned thing that Horikoshi only threw into the story recently, because there are multiple instances throughout the story where he clearly is worried and in total denial of it. but I firmly believe those feelings are not what led to the bullying. they’re two separate things. Kacchan worrying about Deku is what prompts him to yell at him in chapter 1 when Deku comes to save him. but it’s not what incited him to burn his notebook and taunt him earlier in that same chapter. that action had a much meaner and more selfish motivation behind it, and I’m glad Horikoshi didn’t try to change it up last minute, because it wouldn’t have felt right.)

thankfully as of this chapter I think we can safely cross that out as a possibility, as we’re given the true explanation straight from Katsuki himself. and the truth is that he bullied Deku out of insecurity and jealousy and fear and intolerance. there was nothing noble about it. there were no good intentions concealed in his actions. there are no justifications given, no excuses offered, and no mitigating circumstances to be considered, other than the fact (which neither he nor Horikoshi bring up) that he was and is still a child, and that children make mistakes.

it’s an explanation that challenges many of fandom’s ideas on who is and isn’t eligible to be redeemed. there is no Ozai in Katsuki’s backstory. there’s no great tragedy that he spent a lifetime trying to rise above. the only villain in Katsuki’s story is Katsuki himself. the only darkness that he has to overcome is his own. and it’s challenging, because I think many people believe the only way someone can be redeemed for doing bad things is if bad things happen to them in return. but what Horikoshi is saying here is that that’s not the case. bad doesn’t erase bad. and the one and only way to truly earn redemption is by doing good.

and that’s what makes this such a phenomenal scene for me. by not shying away from Katsuki’s flaws and failings, and having him take full responsibility for them, Horikoshi keeps the apology from being self-serving, and underscores the true depth of Katsuki’s character development. the level of self-awareness he has here is something most people can only dream of. which is very fitting, as that’s perhaps the most important takeaway from his character arc -- that it’s only by acknowledging your own weaknesses and flaws that you can learn to overcome them and reach your full potential.

one last thing to point out here, which is that in the panel where Katsuki finally acknowledges his terrible treatment of Deku, Deku is not even visible. instead, Horikoshi drew the panel from a perspective that makes it appear that Katsuki is addressing this particular line not just to Deku, but to all of his classmates.

again, he shows him taking full responsibility and admitting his wrongdoings in front of the people whose opinions and approval he cares about most. and just to clarify in case there’s any confusion from Caleb’s translation, Kacchan’s wording makes it very clear that he wasn’t just “mean” to Deku, but that he full-on bullied him (he uses the same verb -- “ijimeru” (苛める) -- that he did back in chapter 284). there’s no attempt to downplay his actions here.

moving on now, this chapter also reaffirmed another thing about Deku and Kacchan’s relationship which I was glad to see revisited -- Kacchan’s unwavering belief in Deku’s ability. this is one of those paradoxical things about their relationship which I’ve always been fascinated by, but which is also kind of hard to explain, because I don’t want it to come off like I’m trying to put a positive spin on something which was unequivocally awful. like, please don’t think I’m trying to say that Katsuki’s bullying of Deku was in any way a good thing. but that being said, there’s also a strange irony at play here, which is that Katsuki’s jealousy and insecurity also betray the fact that even at his very worst, he never once underestimated Deku. he has always believed in Deku’s strength, even when that strength pissed him off and made him afraid and uneasy.

no one else -- not All Might, or even Deku’s own mom -- believed from the get-go that Deku could become a hero. but Katsuki never once counted him out, even when he was calling him a pebble in his shoe. he confesses here that even though he “tried to act superior by rejecting [Deku]”, in truth he was never able to shake the feeling that Deku was above him. long before he ever understood the concept of “win to save”, he knew instinctively that there was a strength in Deku’s heart that couldn’t be measured, and which had the potential to surpass even his own strength. and I’ve always felt that this was so important, because it’s the one aspect of their early relationship that hinted that on some level, however subconscious, Katsuki held the same type of faith in Deku that Deku always held in him. it was one of the few things that hinted at there being a possible path towards reconciliation one day. and it paved the way for the most important shift in their relationship to date, when Katsuki finally realized who Deku got his quirk from, and responded not with resentment or spite, but with acceptance.

moving on, I also really love the way we see them portrayed at the different stages of their childhood throughout this speech, and how it perfectly lines up with the dialogue. from small children (when Katsuki talks about his insecurities first manifesting), to middle schoolers (when he talks about the bullying), to high schoolers (when he talks about the past year and everything he’s learned at U.A.). Horikoshi really didn’t have to go that hard, but he did, and that’s why we love him.

and then we finally get to That Part.

where do I even start with this there are so many things omg.

the bow. this is the one and only time Katsuki has ever bowed to anyone of his own volition as far as I recall. and this absolutely is a bow, just to be clear, even though his form is straight-up garbage (very Kacchan-esque, with his feet and arms spaced apart because he’s still a punk after all). this is Kacchan showing more humility and respect than he’s ever shown to anyone else in his entire life.

regarding “Izuku”, I actually have mixed feelings about this to tell the truth. I think it was a good call here because it was incredibly effective in setting the tone and showing just how serious Kacchan is. however if he continues to use “Izuku” rather than “Deku” from here on out, that would give the impression in hindsight that all his past usage of “Deku” really was meant as an insult, which would undermine some of my favorite scenes. I would really like to believe that since DvK2 or thereabouts, Kacchan has (mostly) been using “Deku (affectionate)” rather than “Deku (useless loser)”, lol. but if he switches to the “nicer” name on a permanent basis following his apology, it implies that the previous nickname was indeed being used cruelly. and so honestly I hope this was just a one-time thing, because I do think that in Katsuki’s mind, the name “Deku” hasn’t been meant as a slight to him for a long time now.

“my truth/this is what I truly feel” -- the word Katsuki uses in Japanese is honne (本音), and if you’re familiar with the concept of honne/tatemae, that’s the same “honne” he’s talking about here. it means that he’s casting aside all of his walls and facades and expressing what he truly feels. and of course, one of the fascinating things about Katsuki’s character is that he’s the exact opposite of most people in that he chooses to put his meanness on full display to the public, and ironically it’s the kindest parts of himself which he tends to keep the most carefully guarded and hidden away. this also means that while his rage and anger are very often insincere and put on just for show, those relatively few occasions where he lets his humanity truly shine through are pretty much 100% genuine, as is the case with this one here.

and Deku’s face says it all when it comes to how powerful those moments can be as a result.

and this, right here, is why it wasn’t enough for Katsuki to atone solely through his actions, and why he needed to actually say the words as well. it’s not that the words are more important; obviously the actions are far and away the most important part, and carry far more meaning. but the reason why Katsuki needed to say the words as well is simply because Izuku needed to hear them. needed to, and deserved to, because this is one of the most important people in the world to him.

and so he deserves to know that the relationship isn’t just one-sided, and that he is just as important to Kacchan as Kacchan is to him. he deserves to know that Kacchan understands how horribly he treated him, and that he’s sorry for it. and he deserves to know that Kacchan, without any expectation of it changing their relationship -- meaning that he will continue to feel this way regardless of what Izuku says or does from here on out -- cares about him. now more than ever, with AFO out there doing everything in his power to make Izuku feel as alone as possible, this is something that he really, really needed to hear.

so this part has some interesting wordplay which neither Caleb’s translation nor the fan scanlation was really able to get across. basically, in the Japanese version, when Katsuki talks about “those ideals”, Horikoshi uses the kanji for “ideal”, but pronounces it as “All Might.” obviously the meaning of this isn’t too hard to decipher, as we all know how much both boys admire All Might. to them, he absolutely is synonymous with the Ideal. so this is a way of showing that respect they both have towards him, even as Katsuki goes on to point out the one fatal flaw that All Might was never able to overcome.

and speaking of interesting wording, as others have noted, at this point in his speech Katsuki switches from “temee” (which he was using earlier during the “your strengths and my weaknesses” part) to “omae” (“omae” being a less insulting word for “you”, though still very manly and tough-sounding), which is definitely a big deal. though fwiw this is not the first time he’s used “omae” for Deku (he switches to it briefly right after DvK2, when he tells Deku “you had the strongest guy lay the groundwork for you -- don’t lose”, and then later when they’re walking back to the dorms and he says he’ll learn and get stronger by watching everyone around him just like Deku did). it’s definitely a good choice on Horikoshi’s part though, as it makes this last part of the speech sound more earnest and sincere.

just a quick note, he does indeed use a plural pronoun here, as in “the obstacles that you can’t overcome, we will overcome.” but as @pikahlua​ pointed out, the “we” here is ambiguous -- it could either mean “we” as in class 1-A -- “we will overcome them for you” -- OR it could mean “we” as in all of them -- class 1-A and Deku. “we will overcome them together.” idk about you, but I know which one gets my vote.

anyway, and so this is the line that finally wins Deku over and allows him to let go of his fears, however briefly. what I love about this is Kacchan’s utter conviction. one thing that Caleb’s translation doesn’t quite get across is Kacchan’s use of the word morenaku -- “without exception” -- when he talks about how they’re going to save everyone and win. it echoes that same sentiment he showed back during the Joint Training arc -- that it’s not a perfect victory unless they save everyone. every last person. and he explicitly lists Deku among their number, just so there can be no doubt.

and Deku’s response to this (or at least his thoughts, since he’s not really able to get many words out) pretty much brings everything full circle here.

he acknowledges that everyone else has gotten ahead of him. which is especially meaningful given who he’s standing directly across from. because for most of the series, as we all well know, it’s been Kacchan who was woefully lagging behind Deku in the character growth department. but now Deku himself is acknowledging that not only has Kacchan finally caught up at last, but that he and the others have surpassed him. which is only temporary, I should add, as I have zero doubt that Deku will catch up again soon. but the fact remains that just as Deku’s rapid increase in strength and skill left Kacchan scrambling to keep up earlier in the series, Kacchan’s extraordinary character development has now left Deku in that same position. as All Might once put it, “when he’s starting at level one, and you’re already at level 50, it’s only natural that you’ll be growing at different rates.”

and what’s so wonderful about this though is that the two of them are finally approaching that point where they’ve both caught up to each other and are finally starting to level out. Deku is a full-on badass, and Kacchan is out here talk-no-jutsuing with the best of them. the two of them have been chasing and chasing after each other this entire time, and now they’re finally just about ready to meet in the middle at long last, with each of them fully embodying both of those two crucial aspects -- win, and save.

just about. because Deku still needs some help catching up. but seeing as help has already been offered -- and accepted -- I can’t imagine it will be very long now, and I can’t wait to see him finally overcoming those fears and doubts with his friends by his side. it’s going to be such a powerful moment.

and last but not least,

but at least this provides a good opportunity to note that unlike the “we’ll help you handle it” line earlier in the speech, here the phrasing is left up to interpretation, as he doesn’t use a pronoun. so it could be “we know”, or, as the fan scanlation put it, “I know.” or it could be both. regardless, it’s good stuff.

anyway, and so Deku passes out, and in the process Horikoshi gives us one last parting metaphor, just in case anyone still thinks Kacchan is all talk because they haven’t been paying attention for the past 322 chapters (more likely than you think). once again, Katsuki’s actions speak louder than his words (even his nice words) ever could: he is literally there to catch Deku when he falls.

so that’s it! my sincere thanks to anyone who actually read through all of my endless ramblings about this scene which I have been waiting for since day one. props to Horikoshi for taking on an impossibly difficult task, and pulling it off with all of the emotion and care and nuance that I’ve come to expect from his writing. imo he delivered on every single level with the exception of the aftermath, which I don’t consider to have actually happened yet. Deku’s part of this is definitely a “to be continued.” but yeah, as far as Kacchan’s part goes, 10/10. so fucking proud of this kid.

he's more of a variety streamer, honestly.

most of his viewers watch him because of his carefree nature (as well as his looks).

obviously, he'd do a bunch of drinking streams whenever he could where he would just talk to his viewers about whatever came to mind.

during those streams, his viewers often try to ask him questions, which are only answered in vague statements.

his gaming streams are pretty rare compared to his chatting streams, but they're there nonetheless.

his viewers jump when they hear he's planning on playing genshin impact.

just neverending messages about a character they are convinced he will love.

he's so tempted to ask but decides not to, wanting to learn who this mystery character is on his own.

honestly, he was expecting you to appear way later in the story.

he's very interested in the looming threat of stormterror.

his character lands on the ground and he leans back to watch the cutscene play.

then he hears footsteps and sees his character look to someone offscreen.

What do you hope the writers do with Allison's arc next season? Ngl s4 broke my heart because it really felt like she was separate from her siblings. She was at such a low point and just feeling so much anger and grief. It was hard to watch even though Emmy was phenomenal.

I love this question! See, the thing with my views on Allison is that they tend to be sort of separated from the general plot of the show. By this I mean that what I’ve always been the most interested by are the parts of her life that we’ve never gotten to see…her life pre-canon, her time in the 60’s, and now – what happens after she reunites the with Claire and Ray.

I hope they explore the topic of emotional dependency and bodily autonomy with her. You know, have her question her own morality and what it means to be good and bad – if those are even concepts that exist. It’s different with her siblings because of how all of them were raised, but when paired with someone like Ray – who is such a beacon of justice and a believer in doing what’s right, I feel like that could be something she struggles with. I want them to explore her relationship with Claire. Has been away from her for so long made her view parenting through rose-colored glasses? She hasn’t parented Claire in YEARS and even when she was married to Patrick, what she did wasn’t really parenting either.

Mostly, I just want her arc in S4 to be about self-growth. Does she owe some of her siblings apologies? Yeah. Mainly to Viktor for the whole Harlan thing and Luther for violating his autonomy. The Hargreeves have all done TERRIBLE things to each other, Allison isn’t an outlier here. At least in the first episodes of the season, I want her to be sort of in her own little world with Ray and Claire. A picture perfect family (tho you can still see the fractures in that illusion in some instances). But I want the main focus to be on her relationship with her siblings. Maybe she goes to find them after hitting a low point with Ray and Claire (possibly after using her powers on Claire again and Ray catching her? So she feels like she’s stuck repeating the same mistakes all her life)

From what I can gather, Reginald and Abigail are gonna be key players, so have her join forces with her siblings. Have them learn how to PROPERLY be a team. Have Allison try to fix those bridges she burned. Even in S3, she still has kindness left in her, she’s just….really struggling. Have her express that. Give her a scene with Five where they discuss the deal she made with Reginald where it ISN’T just him pointing fingers and her getting defensive. Remember, Five made a deal too (the difference came down to the way they were portrayed but no I’m not bitter why do you ask). Everything he’s done is for his family. He UNDERSTANDS the lengths people will go to for the ones they love. Have them FINALLY team up and reach some sort of understanding

On another note: her powers! I don’t think she’s still figured out which lines are okay to cross and which aren’t – so have her explore that. Through Claire and Luther, have her evaluate WHY it’s wrong to use them on the people she loves. The Hargreeves aren’t saints and they’ll always make mistakes, but deep down I DO think they want to do good – they just get a little lost along the way. And it’s important to remember that Allison didn’t get Ray and Claire back by being “good”. If she does make the decision to better herself, I want her to do it for HER. Yes, she absolutely wants to be an amazing mother to Claire, but she needs to realize that this isn’t something she should only do for the sake of other people

And this is totally self-indulgent but I want the show to end with her getting her purple hair from the comics! Idk! Let it be a metaphor for how she’s working on moving forward after spending so much time stuck in the past. At the very least let her have a hopeful ending, she deserves that much

Anyway, if it wasn’t already obvious, I care so much more about the characters than the plot so sorry that barely any of this includes actual… y’know. plot things lol. Hope you liked it tho!! I love one (1) woman

Well it’s over. I guesss..... Okay. I'll just write my initial thoughts here.

INITIAL THOUGHTS

Overall: VERY funny to me, I laughed a LOT. I loved all the students. I think it was... an interesting choice to have the final villain be a brand new character, but hey at least DR's contained in that sense. I'm glad it finally clicked with me personally that Hade's underworld indeed connects across the entire world. People said to me "well duh mel, remember Auron?" but I just figured he died there since other FF characters go to the Coliseum. I... will need to digest the whole darkness thing, just because I THOUGHT I had it ironed out, but they talked about it over and over that I got tripped up and lost again LOL. LOVE baby nort. LOVE baby nort. How can such a little guy become the creepy man who freezes Terra and holds Ventus by the skull? incredible.

And strangely enough I really love that it, ever so briefly, addressed Xehanort, Eraqus and Odin's survivor's guilt. KH can imply trauma, but at the same time to remain light hearted, it doesn't always go all the way. It didn't go all the way here either, but further than I expected.

I enjoyed this game, and I'm glad I played it myself. Took me literally 24 hours to beat it, I played it all day, but I did it! 💪💪

current favorite bl character and why let’s make it known that there will never ever be a character like pran for me but bc bad buddy, sadly enough, isn’t airing anymore and is now kind of gone (oh we wish, the brainrot never leaves), i decided to take someone else. and that must be fah from sky in your heart. i was absolutely enamored by him from the moment i first saw him in star in my mind until the last second of the star and sky special ep. he is my man, my bean, my blorbo. i wish there had been more time and space for him to get explored more as a character bc i feel like mek poured everything he had in him into acting as fah but this is all i got and i need to survive. so all i can say is that i am happy to know that he is now learning about love and how it can belong into his life even if he does what he feels is his calling ♥

best music moment from a bl i’ve truly been appreciating some of the music in bls lately, probably bc the music has gotten better in general. once upon a time bls didn’t care about their title songs or anything at all. everything sounded the damn same and i never got attached to any of it. bad buddy changed me and not me was a whole chapter of its own (hoping more bls would take such amazing liberties with the bg music). currently am obsessed with vice versa’s title song. but the best music moment lately has been the eclipse’s title song in the official trailer which somehow resembles the song safe and sound by clngr they used in the first trailer (i am very emotionally attached to this ok, am sorry). i have somewhat high hopes for that show’s soundtrack ngl :’D

a bl you'd like to see adapted into a musical this question is inspired by the fact that ohmnanon’s fanmeeting felt like bad buddy the musical. it was so cool. 10/10 would do that again. but then it had me thinking that dang some of the bls could really work as hsm type of musicals. my first picks after bad buddy would be the shipper (imagine the chaos?? the stuff they could do with the body swapping! the costumes for the angels!! give it to me) and enchanté (they could do a whole ass love songs montage and i would be over the moon. also the pining happening through songs!! am shaking screaming weeping on the floor).

a scene from a bl that always makes you laugh wow i feel like i just suddenly forgot what i’ve laughed at ever in my life other than the worst puns known to a man. but if i think back on some of the first bls i ever watched, i gotta say that in together with me, which i will forever think of fondly mind you, i will always laugh at the scene when in one of the first eps knock’s gf comes to visit his home and knock is trying to be a good bf and takes her around the market and bc he gets distracted by a phone call, he ends up grabbing korn’s hand instead of hers. his face is just so good when he walks hand in hand with who he thinks is his gf and then suddenly stands face to face with her and you can see the wheels turning inside his head while he tries to understand how it’s possible :’D

biggest bl disappointment i try my best to get into bls without any expectations (and we ignore vice versa in this ok, that one is a black sheep and i don’t even understand why). but if i think about actual disappointments - and now i don’t mean shows i thought were actually just bad and scarred me for life - i gotta say he’s coming to me. i still remember when i got into it bc i was curious about the plot and was happy to see ohm in another bl (i did watch make it right ages ago and liked him in it). i was feeling strange about singto since the beginning but thought it wouldn’t bother me too much. but the fact is that it was very hard to see any chemistry between the two. there was just... something about them that never sat right with me. otherwise the series is amazing. it’s just sad that the main couple lacking that spark leaves it kind of plain :/ idk why the casting choices were like this at the time but obviously they were struggling to find a guy who could play a character coming from another timeline (not to have the ohmnanon goggles on but wish we had had nanon in 55:15 back then).

two random bl characters who would be besties oh dang, now that i started thinking about it, i kind of want to say talay form vice versa and sangwoo from semantic error. i spontaneusly binged semantic error the other day and i loved it a lot. sangwoo operating like a computer was very amusing to me and i feel like talay would click with him with his color theory brain. they could both whine about how nonsensical love is and how they absolutely do not need it while having adoring bfs at home haha. but i also feel like they both would understand how scary it is to fall in love in that type of situation and how hard it can be to let go of your heart, to allow it to feel.

SaL anon here friend and, well, that was an intesting start to LS. So my quick review is I loved the 126 interactions, both during and outside of the emergency, apparently this is Tim's strong suit since it involved the actual ensemble and felt world's away from where the OG interactions are now. I absolutely hate the Owen plot, it makes no sense and is giving me flashbacks of another show's awkward attempt at a white supremacist storyline, but with thankfully less visions 🙄🙄🙄. And then

we have the Tarlos storyline. I'm not outright against it, even with how nonsensical it is. You and I are veterans of Plothole NM, we've seen worse. But that storyline has a lot of heavy lifting to do and it already started on a bad note. I know the reason Carlos hasn't brought this up in 3 years is the writers didn't know it was happening till a few months ago (planned since S1 my ass Tim) but I'm going to need an onscreen explanation, this is talk that should have happened. And I do want to see Carlos have a plotline that's his own where he gets to grow and his issues are addressed, the character deserves that. But they better be careful how they handle it cause the scene last episode and interview clips I've seen aren't encouraging. I'm not super thrilled at the "I'm a bad friend" line from Carlos, addressed to his FIANCE, who he just dropped this huge bombshell on. And since we know Iris isn't signing divorce papers next episode, that she's apparently "vetting" TK next episode (seriously girl, take a seat), and her and Carlos's friendship is going to make TK feel like an outsider, this character has got me super wary. Maybe it's an overreaction, but we just got done with a show where a straight woman got in the middle of the queer couple and was frequently prioritized, I'm don't want to see it again. If she says one mean or judgmental thing to TK I'll shove her in the plothole she crawled out of.

Hello my friend! It was so good to not only have some weewoos back, but my watching ritual is going to my grandmas to chill, watch together, and talk about the show after while we work on puzzles so I overall had a great Tuesday (aside from constantly thinking it was Monday lol). I also really enjoyed the 126 and the interpersonal scenes. Everyone bagging on Owen all episode was hilarious to me personally, the Judd/TK dynamic is as delightfully brotherly as always, Nancy and Mateo are adorable, and Nancy calling Tommy out was SO funny, and Brianna’s delivery continues to be on point. I wanted more Marjan and Paul as always but they also got their quips in and seeing the teams in action felt good! I agree that things definitely felt way less forced than OG felt this season.

NGL you said “thankfully less visions” and I was *scrambling* to remember what happened in OG 911 about visions before I realized it was about RNM s3 and I had just fully suppressed that stupid vision plot from my brain 🤣🤣🤣 I do think this show will handle things better than RNM did, but that is saying absolutely nothing because RNM did it SO badly sooo 🤷🏻‍♀️ My main gripe with this, as with most of Owen’s storylines, is that they are centralized around NO ONE ELSE in the main cast, and since he gets most of the screentime, it’s going to mean LESS time for everyone and everything else. Judd and Grace and Tommy are all involved in each other’s “personal” storylines even just as someone to talk/vent to, plus Tommy has TK and Nancy as well to talk to, TK and Carlos obviously have each other as to Mateo and Nancy, we’ve had some great Paul/Marjan stuff especially last season and when the show started, we had lots of good Owen/TK and Judd/Owen scenes, plus a few good scenes with Owen and Tommy or Michelle as captains. Even Billy had a connection to Judd and Grace, and wanted to be over the 126 so that wasn’t entirely separated either, but everything else for Owen has been focused outside of the team. Even the Owen/Marjan stuff in the opener last season was them being separated most of the time and unaware they were both in the same place. And here’s the thing, I LIKE the Owen scenes with the main characters! I like the banter, and he has some really great moments as a dad/father figure and as a captain. But every time it becomes all about a character outside of the 126 it just falls SO flat for me. So add to that mess the fact they want to address white nationalism in Texas by having him go undercover for the FBI? Hard pass. I care zero percent about what they do with this storyline. I HOPE they at least use Owen’s love for his team and the diverse minorities they represent as an anchor point for this storyline but still. Can we go back to him having cancer and trauma and dealing with it by being a good captain and making sure his team takes care of their physical and mental health please? (I’ve been re-watching s1 and like...there was some GOOD stuff there with him and the team and I miss that energy!) I will say I am SOOOOO excited to see him and Andrea Reyes being wedding-zillas about the Tarlos wedding because THAT is the kind of Owen shenanigans I can enjoy!

As for the Tarlos storyline I’m willing to see where it goes for sure because I do think Tim had the thought ages ago (without considering how the characters have changed since their first concept came to be while planning s1) and I also think it’s going to give US some good backstory and depth for Carlos, and it’s going to give RAFAEL some meaty stuff to work with and stretch his acting chops which will be fun to see. HOWEVER. My main gripe is just...the sheer number of MASSIVE plotholes/questions this storyline creates, and a lot of that has to do with them never leaving ANY clues that this could be a thing. 

Andrea (and possibly Gabriel) knows? Because a) this 100% should have come up as part of the reason for the s2 misunderstanding about why Carlos hadn’t told them about TK even if it was a vague and cut-off conversation we weren’t fully apart of. And b) HOW MUCH and WHEN did she know? Because if she’s known all along it’s WEIRD that it hasn’t come up even accidentally at all especially in s2, AND it doesn’t track with Carlos saying they did it for “normalcy” reasons if they were dating other people and no one seems to have known anything about it by the way they have all acted for 4 seasons.

As stated above, Iris was dating someone for ages before she disappeared! And no one said anything about her “stepping out” on her husband? Was everyone in the know that it was a sham? And if so, then why do it at all? 

Also, Iris wasn’t doing it to use his medical insurance since she wasn’t diagnosed until after she was found and at that point she was still refusing treatment. 

If she HAD been using his insurance recently and the “marriage” was an excuse to keep her coverage up all this time, wouldn’t Carlos have been getting her insurance statements when they paid a bill? And getting the bills for her deductibles and stuff? Surely TK would have seen the mail at this point?

Carlos was allowed to help in the investigation and was never under suspicion himself? Even when they found the truck and blood, he was allowed to take part and it never once came up that he shouldn’t be allowed because he was legally her husband? 

Wouldn’t it have come up when they were talking about wills that legally half of everything Carlos has or has bought (INCLUDING THE LOFT) legally belongs to his wife? (ONE good thing is that we didn’t get this reveal while Carlos was unconscious in the hospital, can you even imagine?!)

I KNOW there are more things I’m forgetting but that’s just questions off the top of my head and it’s already so much! Had Timmy put in like, the barest effort to include some crumbs, we all could have had an OH SHIT THIS is what *xyz* scene was about?! Which could have been fun! But by dropping it entirely only to bring it up in season 4, it’s just created a bit of a mess. Hopefully we get the answer to some of these questions in the next couple of episodes but none of that changes that the actual build up SHOULD have been there because there were ample opportunities to sneak hints and instead it still just comes out of nowhere. 

As for Iris herself, I’m already really heated about the slap because like, that was SO unnecessary. Like a hug, then playful punch to the arm, then hug again could have had the comedic effect I know they were going for, but using a full on bitch slap across the face is NEVER funny. Can you imagine if Eddie had slapped Shannon when she returned after ghosting him? Why is it okay in this case then?? ANYWAY, I know what they were TRYING to do but it absolutely did not work for me. I’m also a little leery of how they seem to have “cured” Iris off screen after the last we heard (in season ONE) was that she didn’t want treatment (though maybe the mentioned her when they mentioned Michelle leaving? I honestly don’t remember). I’m just not sure what they are planning to do with her, and if it’s going to work, especially if they make her the “bad guy” keeping Tarlos apart by holding the divorce papers hostage. I have avoided the interviews because as much as I would like Tim back on OG for his arc planning skills, mostly coherent storylines, main character focus, good emergencies, and overall tight ship running, I still don’t particularly want to hear what he has to say 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think we could get some good stuff of TK talking out his feelings which will be nice and I do feel like this is different from the sponsor thing last season because Iris isn’t a legitimate prospect for Carlos. However, I’m absolutely with you. “If she says one mean or judgmental thing to TK I'll shove her in the plothole she crawled out of.” I’m zero percent attached to her character, we barely even saw her in s1 and it’s been ages since then, and I’d much rather see Tarlos scenes of them working this out between them rather than a bunch of scenes with her instead but we’ll see how things go!

I am excited about the Tommy storyline though, and I was excited to see D.B. Woodside since I loved him in Lucifer. Mostly though, I’m really hoping to get more Marjan, Paul, Nancy, and Mateo because like...damn. It’s about fucking time. No matter what, at this point I am curious, excited, and ready for more!
