who fell first and who fell harder...? ft. yuji, yuta, ino, geto, kokichi, nanami, choso, toji, gojo, & megumi
authors note: hi hi hi. this is inspiried by a lot of things but mostly the new season of bridgerton that I finished in one day.
cw: gender neutral reader, fluff
wc: 1k
You fell first but Yuji fell harder. Yuji thought all of your advances were just friendly jokes. He falls the exact moment you give up flirting and call him your best friend. He wasn’t sure why that word made him feel slightly hurt. When he walks you home later that night out of nowhere he asks if he can kiss you. When you asked why he said it was because he didn’t just want to be your friend, but something more.
-
Yuta fell first and harder. You’ve known him since childhood. You two first kissed after a game of hide and seek when you were kids. Yuta has loved you since the first moment he met you and will love you the rest of his life. He’s a very devoted person.
-
Ino fell first and harder. You and Ino got close during training. You had been asked out by someone else and enlisted Ino to teach you about dates and kissing. Ino jumped at the chance to teach you and the moment your lips met his, he about lost his goddamn mind. He went in for seconds and when your hand slid into his hair he practically begged you not to go out with the other person. The moment he kissed you you had totally forgotten the existence of the other person.
-
Geto fell first but you fell harder. Geto didn’t have much love for your kind and you didn’t have much love for his superiority. After enlisting him to rid a curse from you you overheard him referring to your kind as something you didn’t like to repeat. You gave him a piece of your mind and after a day passed he found you again and apologized. You accepted but still felt sort of angry with him. You saw him a few times after that and something sparked in the fire that you felt for him. Something that wasn’t complete and utter dislike. He must’ve sensed it because when you were leaving one night he grabbed you and kissed you hard.
-
You fell first but Kokichi fell harder. You admired him. He was smart and cunning but everytime he spoke to you he made you feel stupid. So you stopped speaking to him. That little trick did a number on him. Where was his little shadow? He seeked you out and when you told him how much of a know it all he was he sat beside you and shared his lunch. He had to work a lot to earn your favor.
-
You fell first but Nanami fell harder. You thought he was out of your league so you tried moving on. You asked if he’d pretend to be your date for a friend's wedding. He was a good friend and you felt comfortable with him. He agreed and after one day of pretending broke down and kissed you in the hallway on the way back to your shared suit. You two didn’t have to pretend after that.
-
Choso fell first and harder. You wanted to make someone jealous so you asked your friend Choso to help you. He didn’t seem to want to help. You asked why and it just made him shy but after a day or two he agreed. He was great at it and the other person you wanted to make jealous asked you out by the end of the week. When you told Choso this he sort of shut down. He chased you down on your date and shamelessly revealed his feelings. Your poor date was left alone that night.
-
You fell first but Toji fell harder. This man didn’t know he had something special until you walked out. Months passed and you had finally healed and moved on from the whole ordeal. That was until he darkened your doorstep once again. You were quick to turn him down but he was persistent. It was aggravating but he knew you way too well. He didn’t make those mistakes ever again.
-
Gojo fell first but you fell harder. Gojo was a nuisance. He never left you alone. He always asked for you on missions just to annoy you. Or so you thought. You realized after hurting his feelings that all his close proximity wasn’t to annoy you but just simply to be close to you. After you apologized he asked you to apologize again, a bit louder this time and when you rolled your eyes he kissed you.
-
You fell first and harder. You and Megumi were paired up on an assignment you got to know him through the silence. He chose his words carefully and was protective. You let your feelings be known and he rejected you at first. He’s shy. You apologized the next day and he told you your apology wasn’t necessary and when you asked why it seemed words failed him. He stared at your lips for more than enough seconds before informing you that he couldn’t sleep the night before, couldn’t stop thinking about how much he didn’t want you to slip from his grasp. When you seemed confused he just sighed and kissed you.

*gifts more saiouma brainrot cause i have ton*
robot shuichi/ artist kokichi
Talent swap bit not the trad antogonist/mastermind or just the ships. It just is fully random. Why? I need a excuse to make shuichi a robot and kokichi an artist. Just that.
*deep breath* here we go
Kokichi making the most shit-post art a 90% of the time. And thr other is super deep and complex. Plus he loves drawing dice. Cause as an artist drawing your silly clown friends is serotonin.
And shuichi as a robot cause. It will fit a lot of his personality, and if he still is a protag we could say he was one of those investigation computers, just that made a robot for a better apeal And cause talent swap you could make kaito the ultimate inventor! So boom, also the banter. Cause kokochi constanrly with the robot phobic coments, and trashing about ai imagines (wich i dislike too tbh) and kaito getting all defensive over an amazing machine that is also his bro
Now. ROMANCE .
Kiibo wants to be a human canonicaly. And i think shuichi will be the same. But for some reason fell unworthy of being one. As his system was made to be fully logical, he would lack of something important. Creativity
Kokichi, being the ultimate artist would be someone he wouod look up too, admire deep down. A human ability he would never be able to have at his fullets. Unpredictable. Creative, random. He would try and doodle some of kokichi's pieces in a small notepad, but end up with total messes. And kokichi at the start would be PISSED for that. Cause you know. Most artist wouldn't want an ai using his art whitout their consent. But eventualy find that cute as time went on.
The free times would be cool too! They would go pretty much like the game tbh. But the rock paper scissor and it having some more lines sounds cool for me.
Now. Kichi turn. He would slowly realize that shuichi is more human that he seems to be. He might be a machine. But he isn't that diferent from them. And slowly break his bad ideas od him, and see what he is. He is a trustable friend. And even if all logic in his system would probably had made it go away from him. He stayed. Even if he shouldn't. He was loyal. Be was kind. And so he would start using him as a big. Big reference to his drawings. Making him go for a more robotic like artstyle. But keeping at as a secret. Just a detail that he might or not share with his beloved!
Extra: shuichi's system over heats when too many emotions or enbarasment. So if they date kokichi would always need to have a fan or smth for his shy boyfriend.
That's it. More of my brainrot.
oh that's an interesting concept! not all of this fully clicks with my interpretations of them, especially not in a killing game inviroment, but i thibk the concept is really cool on paper
also this ask is perfect timing, i overslept past my posting time and was about to post an rb, but now i can just spread your brainrot instead

You don’t need to post this, but thanks for caring about antisemitism on a deeper level beyond that whole Kokichi’s hat thing. Just saw a different post that really bummed me out so seeing you being thoughtful about it cheered me up (which is funny bc Gonta’s backstory never personally bothered me, probably bc my standards are low and at least the reptites portrayed as nice there & a video game reference lol)
NGL Anon I'm morbidly curious about the post you saw, but aside from that--
I actually want to give @jacksmusesdrv3 credit here, because for the longest time I did not want to really engage with the antisemitic stuff at all--which while my intentions were good (as in I wanted to just kind of erase them from my rewrite), it made me blind to other antisemitic notions in the narrative, a lot of them being philosenitism, which in this case, is a very specific breed of antisemitism that idolizes the stereotypes instead of condemning them/using them to fear monger.
I knew that the hat was likely a reference to WWII Germany (I still can't believe military officers wore hats with SKULLS ON THEM like how can I take you seriously you are LITERALLY being supervillans in a cartoon I cannot--) and I knew the Reptites were suspiciously similar to the "lizard people" thing, but there's quite a few a bit of philosenitism in it--things I plan on trying to remove if possible.
I also have been discussing the ableism (pardon the extra salt for the post with the links, this one's personal) and racism in the narrative of V3, both of which I also plan to either address or reassess.
I am very neurodivergant (AuADHD), so the ableism is something I face first hand in my daily life--but the racism and antisemitism aren't things I experience, which is why I want to learn about them and rework the story of Twins AU to be rid of them, if possible. Especially since the ableism is baked into the character interactions and Gonta's character arc so that's hard to remove, but the racism in Angie's writing is mostly backstory related so that can easily be reworked and changed. (Namely, I'm stuck on if I should keep the deities she refers to as the Atua, since I'm not sure if that's interchangeable with the Kupua, which is specifically Native Hawaiian, where as Atua refer to deities that aren't so specific.)
For the antisemitism and antisemitic-philosentism, I'll need to do more research on. I know there is something with Kirumi's last name being a reference to a prime minister of Japan, which has something to do with philosentism/antisemitism, but I don't 100% recall it atm.
Still!
I try to be very, very mindful of these sorts of things in fiction, as I want to create a story that isn't going to perpetuate stereotypes or harmful rhetoric, which will isolate readers of those groups from my work. I never have fun seeing ableist shit in media, in fanfic, so I apply that same logic to everything. A Native Hawaiian won't like seeing Angie's narrative racism. A Jewish individual would feel uncomfortable seeing antisemitic characteristics, even if they are being glorified. So I try to eliminate those things from my own rewrite.
And TBH, I am a little ashamed of myself for wanting to shut down any discussion about the antisemitism/philosentism in the past, because I didn't realize it was making me ignorant. I thought I recognized all of it and that was arrogant of me. I have a lot to learn, and I will always be learning! So I've been slowly working myself up into discussing it and understanding what about V3 has the antisemitism and the antisemitic-philosentism, so I can rework that in my own story.
But yeah--sorry for the long response, I just kinda started rambling a bit.

Happy Saiou Day!! 💙💜
So if anyone remembers last summer I said I'd post the complete portraits of my talentswap designs and a climactic scene from the AU with a full summary when they're finished? Well, I didn't forget!
So, below are my headcanons for Ultimate Supreme Leader Shuichi and Ultimate Detective Kokichi~!
(I'm really passionate about this AU, I hope you read it ':3)
(Tho no climactic scene unfortunately)
Ultimate Supreme Leader Shuichi
So first of all Shuichi's parents are still celebrities, move overseas and leave him with his uncle. However in this AU Shuichi's uncle is a politician who actually has a really good reputation. Problem is, his uncle is incredibly busy and is almost never home because of that. Still, he wants to be like his uncle (though the wish is fueled more with wanting to be good enough and accepted). Shuichi's personality is basically the same.
So then one day I Alligator girl's (Gonna call her Wani) alligator gets stolen by some group who're going to sell it and they threatened Wani to not call the police or tell anyone. So she asks Shuichi to help. Somehow they manage to retrieve the alligator together secretly (idk) and right afterwards one of Wani's friends is in trouble with some shady local business. So Wani suggests they make a group to stop these sorts of people and that Shuichi would be the leader. He agrees, he still wants to do something to make this world a better place like his uncle.
After that Wani starts asking her most trusted friends at school if they'd like to join (Shuichi would never have the social courage to ask someone that). When they get to 10 members (all girls) they stop growing for some time and decide to get themselves uniforms. When they're finally considering getting more people into the team since Shuichi doesn't really know these people, he decides to start wearing a mask to be safe. He also starts using the code name "Crow". The other 10 members go by flower names.
The group then grows a lot. And by the time Shuichi's officially scouted to be an Ultimate, it has around 1500 members. And it's making him very worried as Shuichi's not even sure anymore if he's skilled enough to lead it. The group started out stopping or changing corrupt businessmen, unethical businesses and other evil groups. And although that still is what they do, he's realized that the way they go about things is pretty illegal. (When he first realized this, he started wearing a hat.) Obviously he forbids violence, but they still use blackmail and steal information. Also they need money for the group to function at this point so they've had to get it through illegal means that Shuichi's not sure of anymore. So Shuichi is immensely scared of being revealed as the organization's leader because it would completely destroy his organization and it would also annihilate his uncle's as well as his parents' careers on the spot. Basically everything would get ruined and it would be a nation-wide scandal. Perhaps even an international scandal.
He gets even more worried when the police finally start realizing there's some sort of group that's blackmailing big businesses and start investigating.
When he gets scouted to Hope's Peak, the letter comes to his base and even HPA doesn't know his identity, just that he's a high school student. He doesn't think like he deserves the title at all since it's really his organization that does the hard stuff and Wani's the one that's made it grow and he shouldn't be panicking like this if he really was a "great leader". But he still decides to go due to "If you manage to graduate from Hope's Peak, you will be set for life!". But as his family can't know of him being scouted there as the Ultimate Supreme Leader, he forges a letter claiming he's the Ultimate Lucky Student which he shows to them. And at HPA he requests he be referred to by that title.
Problem is, now his year group has 2 Ultimate Lucky Students and a certain Ultimate Detective gets suspicious.
Miscellaneous: Shuichi really wants to use make-up but he's really afraid to at home since he feels his uncle would think it's really weird. So at the organization's base Wani heard about it and got him some makeup and now Shuichi wears makeup when on missions and at the base. Also the organization has a helicopter. (It's a central part of that climactic scene I talk so much about.) Shuichi thinks about becoming a detective perhaps, but he's not sure how he'd be able to leave his group anymore so...
Ultimate Detective Kokichi
For Kokichi I still have my pretty elaborate origin story. His early years are great until at some point his real father finds out that Kokichi's mother had actually had the Kokichi and his older twin brother with him and not her husband leaving him alone. And thus he murders Kokichi's mother out of spite. Kokichi and Tamotsu (my headcanon name for his twin) see the murder take place and flee. However, they were never actually able to make out who the murderer was and they knew even less of why their mother was murdered.
The murder never gets solved and this mystery stays in Kokichi's mind. Who ruined his life, who killed his mother?
(I feel they'd have like an uncle and their mother's husband lived with them obviously. There'd also be other factors like disposed evidence and the suspects vanishing making the murder so much harder to figure out afterwards.)
So Kokichi and Tamotsu end up at an orphanage, one related to the one Maki's at. It's kind of a terrible place, but it's where Kokichi meets (most of) Dice. They become inseparable friends (tho don't form a group with the name Dice. I'll still call them that here for clarity's sake though). However Tamotsu who had always been supporting Kokichi and being there for him at his side starts becoming bitter (jealous?) against Kokichi due to dice and starts turning against them. This is the time when Kokichi starts developing his lying to protect himself from Tamotsu as well as the borderline abusive authority at the orphanage. He's also started to figure out the dark secret of the orphanage training children to become assassins.
I feel like during this time a detective was investigating the orphanage. So when things get too dire and Kokichi and Dice escape the orphanage the detective ends up taking them in after finding them on the streets afterwards since he can't just send them to an orphanage at that point. So Kokichi and Dice end up staying with the detective and start helping him out. Kokichi's especially interested in the orphanage now and he and the detective with the help of the other Dice members figure out a lot of stuff. (This is also the time the rest of the Dice members "join".) Until one day the detective gets assassinated by someone from the orphanage sending them a message to stop the investigation.
So Kokichi takes over the Detective's office and to get by he starts working on all kinds of small cases with the help of Dice. And that's what they mostly do. Among those small cases are often cases that have something to do with saving children. However Kokichi occasionally also takes on homicides and investigates organizations. He wants to be prepared for when he finally investigates his mother's murder as well as the organization behind the orphanage. He wants those people locked up in jail forever.
Personality wise Kokichi's pretty much the same. He still loves pranks, lies all the time and would have elaborate stories (lies) about like for example how he was the one who managed to put the previous Queen of Novoselic's assassin behind bars. (The previous Queen was not even assassinated). He'd also jokingly blackmail people by claiming he knows something about them or could figure out something incriminating about them. He never really means it, though he would like try to find out harmless embarrassing secrets to mess with people.
Around the time he gets scouted to Hope's Peak he's specifically requested to assist in the investigation of a mysterious organization that steals information and sends blackmail and other such things. It's a huge flashy case, so of course he picks it up.
At Hope's Peak he then meets an (surprisingly mysterious?) Ultimate lucky student who seems really interested about his Ultimate detective talent and his lying.
Bonus
The original portraits from summer 2020. My laptop just broke when I finished the lineart and then I couldn't really edit them on my new tablet anymore and they were getting really old so I just decided to completely redo them. Also lmk if you want the sketch of the climactic scene since I'm not sure if I'll finish it even though I really like it. It looks pretty okay even if it's unfinished.
Also hope this is coherent and that I haven't forgotten anything aah. And damn if you actually made it this far gezus. This took like 4+ hours?? oops.

Kokichi x reader - patching him up after he falls through the floorboard
Request: I felt bad for a Kokichi when no one bothered to check up on him when he fell through the floor so how about a scenario where someone catches up to him after the trial and bullies him into letting them bandage him up. This small act of kindness causes him to fall for them.
Hey! I love this idea, but when he showed up at the trial, all the blood that was on his head and face was cleaned up, and he wasn’t light-headed or anything during the trial, some I’m gonna change up the request a bit to have the reader find him directly after he falls through the floorboard. Also, thanks for suggesting best boy, I will always have time to write for him - Mod Kokichi
SPOILERS FOR EVERYTHING UP TO CHAPTER 3 ENDING. Gender of reader never specified.
NOTE: MONOKUMA WAS OUT OF COMMISSION FOR THIS INVESTIGATION, BUT IM TAKING CREATIVE LICENSE TO ADD HIM BACK IN. WORK WITH ME LMAO.
“Hmmm, I see. Thanks, Kiyo!” You finished up your light but lengthy interrogation of the anthropologist, who elegantly bowed his head and disappeared into his lab. You exited, rounding the corner to investigate further. You headed toward the three empty rooms, wanting to re-examine Tenko’s body after Korekiyo’s statements, even if the thought of your friend’s corpse made you uneasy. It had to be done.
You rounded the corner, a sharp yelp releasing from your throat.
Shuichi, Maki and Kokichi turned to face you, startled by your sudden scream. Kokichi’s forehead was soaked, dripping pink rivulets of blood, and he was leaning on the wall for support.
“What’s going on?! What happened?! D-did someone attack you, Kokichi?” You ran over, joining the group and looking to Shuichi for answers.
“He’s fine.” Maki stated flatly.
“Obviously not, his head is gushing!” You were a bit irritated with Maki’s indifference, but a bit biased with your opinion on Kokichi. You knew many people disliked him, Maki least of all, but you didn’t see a reason to hate him. In fact…you’d been nursing quite the little crush on him. You found him witty, cute, intelligent.
“Yeah, he felt well enough to pull a childish prank on us, so I’d say he’s fine as well,” Shuichi’s eyes narrowed as he spoke, arms crossing as he looked at Kokichi with contempt. Kokichi simply grinned back.
“What prank?” You inquired.
“He pretended he was dead, lying there face-down and bloody only to pop up when we got worried!” Shuichi scoffed, his nasally, nerdy voice getting rather worked up.
“Kokichi…” you warned, seeing Shuichi’s point now. Kokichi merely smirked back at you as well.
“Anyway, we gotta go finish up this investigation before Monokuma cuts us off, so if you’ll excuse me, y/n.” Shuichi nodded, leaving with Maki to investigate Angie’s research lab. That left Kokichi and you in the hallway alone, his eyes drooping now that Shuichi was out of sight. A moment of weakness.
“Kokichi, are you alright? That’s a lot of blood. And you hit your head, yes? What if you have a concussion or something?”
“Why are you standing around? I haven’t seen you investigating at all, you lazy, lazy scoundrel,” he changed the subject. “Gonna leave all the work to everyone else?” He forced a venomous grin that quickly turned into a clenched-teeth grimace, his head pounding. It didn’t escape your notice.
“For your information, Ouma, I have been investigating, it’s just obvious to me who the guilty party is, so I’ve been slowing down. I’m ready for the trial.”
“Hmm so you’re useless and cocky? Great, just what we needed for this case!” He started walking off toward the stairs, still heavily depending on the wall. His words were harsh, but as usual, held an untruth within them. He knew you were smart, and that you probably had figured it out, but he wasn’t going to admit that to you, of course.
“K-Kokichi! Let me help you!” You grabbed his arm before he could stumble down the stairs. He looked to you incredulously, but didn’t pull away, looking at the little drops of pink that stained his white jacket sleeve.
“I don’t need your help, stupid-head! What, you’re the Ultimate Nurse or something? Ultimate babysitter? Go bother someone else!” He was trying your patience now, but you weren’t going to turn your back on someone obviously in pain. You saw pain in his eyes, both from his mysterious past and the current injury. Kokichi was more than meets the eye, and you could easily perceive that. It didn’t hurt that he was attractive.
“No, the Ultimate Psychologist, remember?” You stopped him when he tried to pull away and continue down the stairs alone.
“Ohhhh, pfft! Yeah,” he rolled his eyes, “I had forgotten since you never actually do anything during trials.”
“Monokuma!!!” You yelled out, ignoring his insult. Kokichi jumped at your sudden volume, and the monochrome bear appeared seemingly out of thin air.
“What do you twerps want?” He smiled, hands on his hips.
“How much time do we have left in the current investigation?”
“And why should I tell you...? I think that seems a bit unfair! Then I’d have to tell eeeeeveryone!” He leaned forward at your threateningly. You gestured toward Kokichi.
“Kokichi is obviously in no shape for a trial. He needs to get cleaned up and assessed, at least. I’m asking you to allow me the time to do so, no more, no less?” You challenged him.
“No way! You’re cra-“
“Kokichi is easily the smartest one here, and he keeps the trial fun and interesting, wouldn’t you agree?” You hated using the word fun to describe the killing game. You thought it was horrific and morbid, but a little lie to help a friend in the end wasn’t against your morals. “If he’s down for the count or out of it during the trial, it’s going to be painfully boring, right? No one to harass Miu, and everyone else gets along pretty well. It’s going to be a hand-holding ceremony of cooperation. Do you want that?” You glared at the small robot, Kokichi’s mouth a bit agape behind you. Not only were you defending him, which no one here did, but you were standing up to Monokuma.
“Hmmm...well, I suppose, if it will improve the trial...I must reluctantly agree!” Monokuma’s paw rose to his chin pensively. “You’ve got an hour! Not a minute over, got it?!”
“Deal. Can I have a first aid kit?”
“No!”
“RISE AND SHINE URSINE!” The three remaining Monokubs appeared in front of you, with Monodam holding a large white case in his metal paws.
“HERE. I. WILL. ALWAYS, CONTRIBUTE. TO. THE. CAUSE. OF. GETTING. ALONG,” Monodam spoke in his staccato mechanical voice, handing the plastic container’s handle to you.
“You’re lucky my wittle cubs are so cute and helpful and wesponsible!” He swooned at the smaller bears. “Now get outta here, times ticking!”
“SO LONG, BEAR WELL!”
You turned to Kokichi with a smile, and to your surprise, he smiled back.
~
You sat in your room in the dorms, with Kokichi leaning his head back gently onto the side of the tub in your small, personal bathroom. You sat on the edge, massaging the dry blood out of his hair as he pouted, arms crossed against his chest and thin legs splayed out in front of him.
“OW!” You touched a sensitive spot, the opening of his wound a little too roughly, and he shook his feet up and down, stomping on the ground like a little kid. “It’s clear you’re trained to take care of people’s minds, not their bodies, you asshole!” He yelled up at you. You chuckled lightly, easing up on his skull and rubbing out a particularly crunchy bit of coagulated blood.
“What ever do you mean by that, my dear Ouma?” You teased, and he stiffened up, before quickly realizing his emotions were plain on his face, and pouting again.
“I mean, it’s clear you know how to unravel someone psychologically and trick them, like how you know the culprit already’and persuaded Monokuma, but you really have no talent for physical care, huh?” You assumed he was referring to your rather rough treatment of his body...well, what he determined as rough.
“I think you’re being a little unfair, Kokichi. I think I’m doing a pretty great job. Do you feel any better after the water?” You’d made him down a few water bottles upon entering your room and examined the wound before rinsing his dark locks out.
“Hmpf! Whatever. I guess I am grateful to you,” he sighed, “but my appreciation will only continue if you prove you’re truly not as dumb as I once thought!” He looked off dreamily.
“And how do I do that?” You wrung out the longer pieces of his hair, playing along.
“Who is the culprit then...if you’re so smar-?” You wrapped his head in a towel and it covered his face and mouth, muffling his words, “HEY!” You giggled and quickly rustled the towel around gently, careful to avoid directly scraping his wound. When you were done you lifted the towel, peeking under to look at his face. He scowled at you, a light dusting of pink on his cheeks.
“Aww, don’t look so angry. It only makes you cuter!” He turned away from you abruptly, embarrassed, then stood until he was hovering over your seated position, playing it off.
“Whatever! I’m outta here. Some of us actually want to live through this trial.” You grabbed his hand as he began to exit your bathroom.
“It’s Korekiyo. It’s obvious, to me at least…he killed them both.” His eyes widened. How did you…? Of course, he had already come to this conclusion. Seeing something like confusion in his eyes, you continued. “It became apparent as I analyzed him. I talked to him for quite a while.”
“Did you... shrink him?” He scoffed, a bit impressed.
“I’m afraid so,” you wore a crooked grin, standing to meet him.
“Aww, poor guy. And he didn’t even make an appointment!!! Though, I guess it’s really your loss after all. You shrinks are expensive! I hope he has insurance!” He laughed loudly, pitying the graceful anthropologist who would shortly meet his doom.
“You knew already, then?” You inquired.
“Of course!! Evil recognizes evil after all, and he is evil.” He waltzed toward your bedroom door, not a hint of a thank-you or appreciative word coming from his lips. You didn’t stop him, knowing the trial would soon commence anyway. But then, your thoughts prodded at you, and your lips opened.
“K-Kokichi?” He paused, hands on his hips as he turned to face you.
“Whaaaat? We haven’t got all day!”
“I need to place a bandage and some antibiotic over your wound...it’s pretty deep.” Why were you so worried about him, he wondered. “A-and...I wouldn’t mind spending more time with you…” your cheeks felt hot and you looked toward the ground. He rolled his eyes, walking over and plopping down, criss-cross-applesauce in front of you. “Kokichi?”
“I can’t blame you for wanting my attention,” he spoke lazily, “I am the most entertaining person in this dump!”
“You really are charming, you know?” You spat sarcastically.
“Well???? Get to it!” He handed you the first aid kit beside your bed, and you accepted it with a relieved, gentle smile. You began to part his hair, looking for the wound, and he was grateful that you couldn’t see the expression on his face from that angle.

little things in v3 that make me appreciate the game slightly more (spoilers)
the fact that the two incest plotlines can directly be traced back to tsumugi, whose fantasy in her love hotel event deals with her and shuuichi being stepsiblings. the fact that brother-sister incest happens twice within this killing game (with korekiyo & miyadera, and monotaro & monophanie) could be just tsumugi trying to extend her incest fetish to the public.
tsumugi probably named monophanie that way because she knew that she wanted to make kaede the protagonist (at least for the first trial). monophanie sounds like monophony, a term in music that refers to a unified, completely homogenous sound, such as a single instrument in a piece, or every instrument playing the same exact melody.
tsumugi's place in the trial room is exactly where junko's was, right in front of monokuma. she wanted to copy junko's killing game so much that she wanted to take the role of being in her position.
because it's so ambiguous whether tsumugi ever says the truth at all during her entire confrontation, it's almost to the point where she doesn't even have her own identity, and tsumugi shirogane could just be another fictional character she made up for herself. she could have deliberately chosen to raise her voice and have blue hair to pay homage to sayaka, who technically started the killing game in the first place.
the monokubs all have different homages to various former contestants in the killing games. monokid is a guitar player like ibuki and has syo & junko's long tongue. monodam is a robot much like mechamaru, and his name could be a reference to gundam, while his attitude seems pretty similar to twogami's (wanting everyone to get along regardless of whether it's possible or not). monosuke has a gruff attitude similar to mondo, enjoys baseball like leon, and is associated with money like celes and togami. monophanie is sweet and shy but still obedient and cruel, like mikan and touko, and her color scheme brings monomi and chiaki to mind. monotaro has a scarf like gundam, uses throwing stars that bring to mind izayoi from dr3, and has a leadership quality to him like kiyotaka and twogami.
the monokubs have similar color schemes to the warriors of hope, with a few of them having similar traits to them. monotaro and masaru are both the "leaders" and hotheaded, and are orange-red. monophanie and kotoko are both submissive yet still scary, and are pink. monodam and monaca both control their friends and associates and become power hungry because of it, and are both green. monokid and nagisa don't have much at all in common, but are both blue. monosuke and jataro also don't have much in common, but are both associated with neutral tan colors.
tsumugi and the ultimate impostor both show up in this game, but tsumugi is impersonating them, which would probably be her dream -- she's essentially cosplaying a cosplayer who's cosplaying as someone with no identity.
tsumugi doesn't end up contributing a lot because she's an intern for team danganronpa -- she's not used to having a say in major decisions and big meetings, since she's low on the chain of employees.
you never actually see tsumugi's face in the shot of everyone after kaede's execution, probably because she was either smiling or just completely expressionless. she got away with murder by killing another person, and as such would probably be incredulous or ecstatic about the result of the first trial.
when kaede asks tsumugi about her favorite anime, she mentions hers, and her favorite episode of said anime is episode 53. she probably was lying here, and just said that number in a panic. she hadn't probably thought that far into her backstory as tsumugi.
tsumugi probably planned for shuuichi, maki, and himiko to still survive the school being destroyed, since she gave them some of the most emotional moments in the game, killing the people closest to them. shuuichi had the deaths of both kaede and kaito, maki had her breakdown after kaito's death, and himiko lost both angie and tenko within the same trial. it would make sense that she had planned for them to survive through the whole thing, even if kiibo kind of sidestepped her plan a bit.
at the end, before her execution, tsumugi seems actually pretty neutral about her plan failing, even saying that she's proud to have made a perfect copy of the original killing game's plan. this could mean that she intended for the entire thing to fall apart, bringing an audience surrogate, a masterful liar and criminal, and a gifted detective into the same season all together.
kaito's illness was either planned from the beginning, or implemented after tsumugi realized how close he and shuuichi had gotten, and how helpful kaito's been to him. kaede was an easier target because there was a believable reason to execute her in everyone else's eyes. kaito probably would have never killed if he hadn't been battling his illness, since he agrees to help ouma in chapter 5's plan knowing that his time is limited. tsumugi probably instilled a handicap on him, knowing that he was the most hopeful and optimistic of the characters besides kiibo, who she could easily manipulate since he was essentially just a standin for the audience itself.
the inclusion of the remnants of despair as a plot point for part of the game makes sense when tsumugi is revealed to have created the entire season. she's a huge fangirl and wanted to have a nod to the second game. it also would make sense as something that she would just randomly throw in as a means of fanservice to the audience.
the demo's whole gimmick of makoto, hajime, and hagakure being part of the game alongside the new characters is put in a new light after the reveal that the original games were just works of fiction in v3's universe. plus, it's implied that makoto and hajime are actors, which would make sense. technically speaking, everyone in v3 is an actor as well, and with tsumugi cosplaying as a bunch of previous characters in the final trial, chances are that the makoto and hajime actors aren't the original characters, merely portraying them.
tsumugi being the mastermind makes so much sense, and the theme of truth vs. lies makes sense in terms of her constant denial that fiction can't influence reality. as a big fan of danganronpa before becoming part of the games themselves, she's more than likely well aware of the effects that fiction can have on real life, and probably agrees with shuuichi deep down.
the parallels between tsumugi and junko are interesting, but the ways in which they die are the most. they're both crushed to death, and while junko's smiling the entire time (save for the very end, when the crusher stops momentarily, allowing her a bit of confusion as to why it isn't working before she dies), tsumugi is just blank the entire time. it goes to show how even though she got to live her dream and become her idol, she just didn't have the same dedication and devotion to the cause that junko did.
also, kokichi and tsumugi are both crushed, and both were suspected of being the masterminds, also being the representatives of two criminal groups. they're very good antitheses to one another when you start to compare and contrast the two.
i could keep going but honestly we'd be here for a while

hello it’s me again! thank you for fulfilling my request i just loved it. can you please do a continuation? like- reader starts receiving these anonymous love letters and gifts, this drove the boys (and the reader) to confess their feelings in the end. angst to fluff
Wow, thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it! This one is even longer than the last, so please have fun reading this one!
Nagito Komaeda x Sweetheart Reader x Kokichi Ouma Pt. 2
Crunch
Huh? What in the world-
Last time you remembered reaching into your school duffle bag, all you had in it was a comfy change of clothes for when gym activities rolled around, and a wet bottle of water that was dripping with condensation, but…
You didn’t remember an envelope, not in the slightest.
A nervousness started to boil over from your head to your heart, face heating up as quickly as hot coals on a cold evening. Is this… what you thought it was?
You’re stomach dropped at the realization, plunging into the depths of your being, as a realization struck.
This…this was probably not who you thought it was from.
In retrospect, the sting would only sink in deeper if only a single letter was given.
You weren’t satisfied, and that made you feel like you were scum, too dirty to even bother to be dealt with.
Even feeling a great amount of resentment to the silly thing, it’s not like you weren’t going to open it. You weren’t heartless when it came to the topic of possible confession. I guess you could say that the author of the letter made you feel something you haven’t felt in a while.
It’s was pure, unbridled, bitter jealousy. Jealousy that engulfed your vision, clouding all sense of realism.
Why could someone so anonymous have more guts about dealing with their crush than you? This person, who you didn’t even know, had the heart of a lion to sit down, write out something deep and personal, and somehow get it to you.
You were jealous, because you would never have the heart to do the same.
Once the bell rang to signal the last period of the day, you begrudgingly stood from your desk, knowing what you had to do. You had to open it, it would be extremely inconsiderate if you didn’t.
While you were walking in the hallway to somewhere slightly more secluded, you slipped the letter out of your bag. It was pure white, and it wasn’t made out of anything fancy. The opening was sealed by a simple piece of clear scotch tape, and when turning the message over, on the back was large, red letters that spelled your name in delicate cursive. You really wanted to get this over with.
“BOO!”
“OH MY GOD-“ You jumped out of your skin, dropping the envelope in your hand, causing it to flutter to the floor.
“Nehehe! I got you so good!” A purple-haired brat giggled at your jump of fright, rounding the corner he was hiding behind. His eyes then wandered to the envelope that was laid flat on the tiled floor, his eyebrows rose, and a smirk slowly carved his way onto his face.
“Oooo, what’s this little thing, hm? An invitation? A secret message?….” Kokichi knelt down to pick up the letter, fitting the paper between his middle finger and index finger. He got up all in your face, an evil smile plastered on his face, reaching all the way up to his eyes. He got closer to your ear, voice dropping, and his breath hot against your ear.
“Maybe…a love confession? Aww, how sweet…” Kokichi hummed, pleased by the steamy expression your face turned when you were embarrassed. Then, as suddenly as the actions before, Kokichi hopped backwards, grasping onto the letter with both hands, raising it aggressively high in the air.
“Ahhh! The anticipation! What’s inside, what’s inside, what’s inside?!” Kokichi kept on blabbering, waving the envelope all over the place, as if he was a child on Christmas Eve, shaking a wrapped gift to see if they could guess its contents.
When you saw the best opportunity, you quickly snatched the letter back from the naughty boy’s grubby little hands, huffing with a blush on your face once you retrieved what had been addressed to you.
You leaned your back against the hallway wall, which had now been abandoned. Slowly, you sunk yourself down to the ground, not once taking your eyes off of the red lettering that spelled your name in flawless cursive. You noticed upon close inspection that the lettering was a little smudged at the ends, most likely from Kokichi’s roughhousing with it.
A rough thump rang out next to you, making you look over with not much interest. Kokichi, in all of his nosy glory, had sat right up next to you against to wall, head shoved all in your business.
“Come on! Open it already! The suspense is killing me!” Kokichi was vibrating from waiting so patiently....to what extent Kokichi could be patient, that is.
You sighed, giving up. It was most likely anonymous anyway, so Kokichi won’t even know who to target ruthlessly on for the next month.
You let the tip of your finger slide into the opening of the letter, breaking the tape to the prized information. You carefully slipped out the neatly folded piece of paper, which was a thicker, almost card stock like texture.
Even before opening it, you could feel the emotion that radiated out of the paper. You suddenly had an image turn in your mind, of a person looking to be your age, carefully writing every word down as perfectly a flawed human could. Though, you could imagine them also grasping at their hair, crumbling up previous attempts, over and over again, as if disposing of their emotions, yet rebirthing it to be conveyed better each and every time.
It made you feel that much worse, knowing that the writer’s feelings are in no way reciprocated. You couldn’t, because the feelings to give back were already stolen in their entirety. By two other people, none the less.
Ironic how one of your two fattest crushes you’ve ever had in your life was basically huddling into you right at this moment, wanting so desperately to know what the paper read.
When finally did unfold the letter, you were met with beautiful, curvy handwriting, not a spelling error or smudge could be found.
. . .
To the one who my heart yearns for the most,
I’ve lost track on how many times I have written this letter. For reference, the bin next to me is now filled to the brim and was completely empty just two hours ago, but that’s not important, is it?
Let’s get the obvious things out of the way, shall we? I adore you. Though I’m keeping this anonymous, I want you to know that my heart has grown ten times it’s size ever since the day I met you. Every single attribute about you I hold as a precious keepsake within my mind. Every time you do anything, say anything, I want to keep it all to myself. I want to lock the sound of your voice, and keep vivid pictures of your smile fresh within my memories.
You, (Y/N), have made me feel things that I thought I had become numb to. I was unapproachable. A man that was blinded by his own psychotic desire to be used, that’s what I was.
You might think I’m exaggerating, but I believe you’re my guardian angle, sent to be due to God’s pity. Now that I’ve written it down, that was stupid, but I’ll keep it, because it’s the truth.
You saved me from myself, causing me to unsurprisingly fall in love with the one who made me realize I was a human, standing among other flawed humans, all having different lives, hopes, talents, aspirations...
Your kindness, no, your everything gave me so much room to simply breathe, and realized what I was doing to myself and to others.
Now that that’s out of the way, I would like to mention something I’ve...conjured.
I’m not very great at using my words, so that’s why I’ve poured everything into this letter, but you deserve to know who I am.
I’m scared, and if you do see me, I might not be able to get a good amount of words out but
In two days from now, after school, I want to meet you. I was thinking on the school rooftop? If you decide to come, I’ll be there waiting.
. . .
Wow
Who...who was this guy? And why...
Your eyes were brimming with tears, glossy from such words. This could be anyone, yet, what did you do? You were friends with many people, but not like this...you don’t think?
You suddenly felt something warm wiping away your now falling tears, gliding over your cheeks to brush away your liquid sadness.
“Hey, don’t cry...it’s not a good fit for you.” Kokichi then used his bandana to gently dry your puffy eyes and crimson cheeks. You looked up at the boy, who had the tiniest smile present on his face. It was almost as if that was how far the smile could go.
The sun broke through a window across the hallway, landing on Kokichi and his facial features. You looked into his eyes, but something was off.
Those eyes, they reflected a lot more light than they usually did, as if they were simply water in a pond. Was he-
“Well, that sure was something, huh?” Kokichi turned around, rubbing his eyes with his sleeve, trying to be discreet. You noticed though, but decided to not say anything.
. . .
When you thought things couldn’t get worse, you had totally jinxed yourself the next day.
You wanted to get your water bottle out of the your school duffel bag during class, because humans have to drink every once in awhile, but when you did...
Crunch
What...what even was that?
You honestly didn’t even want to bother until the end of the day with how you were feeling right now.
You were slumped, once again, in an empty hallway, browsing your phone and looking at funny cat videos to raise your vibrations. At least they made you smile.
“Is there a kitten nearby?” A voice had pierced the atmosphere. You looked up, it was Nagito standing over you, a face of half wonder and half concern delicately painted on his features.
You looked downcast, and you hated hiding your emotions, so it was plainly evident to Nagito how you felt in that moment, and he was heartbroken.
He placed his belongings next to you, along with himself, comfortably hugging his knees into his chest. He turned to you frowning a bit.
“You...only watch cute animal videos when you’re sad. Is... there anything wrong?” Nagito questioned, wanting to help you as much as you’ve helped him.
“It’s kinda personal, but your company already makes me feel better, so it’ll all be fine.” You gave the white haired boy a little smile, showing just how genuine you were.
Nagito hummed, nodding in understanding. He was playing it cool in front of you, but he really wanted to punch the person that made you feel like this.
It’s funny, because he probably has an idea of who...
“Oh, yeah, the thing...” You mumbled, reaching over to dig around in your duffle bag. When you felt the crunchy texture, you pulled it out, revealing something something that you honestly weren’t expecting.
It was a large pink lollipop, and it was in the shape of a heart.
It was probably as big as your head, and there was a clear, wrapper-like foil around the treat, preserving it for the consumer.
“Where did you get that?” Nagito raised a brow, because it was quite ridiculous how absurdly large this lollipop was. It was a funny sight though, seeing you side to side with with a sweet that could easily cover your whole face.
“I... think someone game this to me?” You thought, smiling a bit at the silliness of the situation.
But your mind wandered... was it the same person who wrote the letter? Then again, you didn’t think it would make sense with someone like him getting, well, this. Especially after writing something so deep and personal. This just kinda seemed incredibly random.
Either way, you started to unwrap the lollipop, wanting to eat some of it, even though you were most likely not going to finish the thing.
Resuming the cat videos, you repositioned the phone between you and Nagito. The boy took a glance, watching as he saw a fluffy white kitten get scared from playing a note on a piano, making him chuckle.
“You wanna watch somethin’ else, Nagi?” You asked Nagito, making him perk up in attentive nature. His smile conveyed so much care for you, as if you were his most prized gift he had ever received in his life.
“I’m bound to enjoy anything you would like, (Y/N)! Please, pick whatever you would like!” Nagito waved his hands, signaling not to worry about him, after all, you were the sad one out of you two for the moment.
“Ok! We’re watching Gordon Ramsay yell at people!” You promptly spoke, grabbing the phone and setting up the Hell’s Kitchen episode.
“Don’t mind me asking, but who is that?” Nagito questioned genuinely, making you gasp in surprise. How?
“He’s one of the best chef’s in the world, but he’s super strict with his employees, so it’s kinda entertaining. You’ll see!” You exclaimed, scooting yourself closer to Nagito, propping up the phone. You leaned into his side, taking a little nibble from your lollipop.
Nagito’s eyes kept on darting from you to the screen, having trouble with containing his emotion with you simply leaning on him to watch a show about...a vulgar-mouthed chef.
“Hm? What’s the matter?” You looked up at him, face inches apart from his. He didn’t respond, too nervous to trust his mouth. Lucky for him, you cut in.
“Oh! You want some?” You stuck the untouched side of the lollipop to Nagito’s mouth.
His brain and heart were on fire, and not a lick of logic was left. He pressed his lips against the candy, and sucked on a small portion.
It was your favorite flavor...he liked it way better than artificial grape soda, by a long shot.
After licking to his satisfaction, Nagito locked his teeth into the part he had been abusing with his mouth, biting off a piece for to-go.
“I need to go to the restroom, ok? I’ll be back.” He said, getting up from his seated position, making his way and entering into the boys bathroom at the end if the hallway.
You don’t know if he knows, but boy, you were blushing up a storm. He literally just gave you an up close and personal presentation on how his tongue did it’s work. Now, you didn’t really care for dirty thoughts, but after witnessing that, you couldn’t help it...
You looked down at the lollipop, now with a small chunk of it gone missing from the main snack. You examined it, and realized something so blatantly obvious, it was embarrassing.
Rapped around the white stick of the lollipop was a piece of yellow paper, and without much thought, you unraveled it.
It was a note, but it was short, and written it blue colored pencil.
. . .
Found this at a candy store, and bought it because you looked sad the last time I saw you. Seeing you sad makes me sad and stuff so yeah. I’m not signing my name here or anything, cuz that would just give away the surprise! But I’ll confess to you properly in person, cuz I’m better at talking. Meet me tomorrow after school, on the roof!
. . .
Huh?
Was this...the same guy? No, no it’s really couldn’t have been. The handwriting was different, the spelling was off, and they seemed a lot more laid back. Also, the author of the letter clearly stated that he was better at conveying is precious feelings by writing, while this one said they were more than happy to spill their own feeling with their voice.
So, you’ve got two secret admirers now...and both of them want to meet at the same place, and the same time.
Maybe this was all just some twisted, elaborate trick by a group of thugs, wanting to lure you in, then gang up on you like street cats when they found a lowly mouse to pray upon.
You’ll never know, unless you sucked it up and went tomorrow.
. . .
Well, there you were, on the roof after school the next day.
No one was there.
The sky was as clear as your blank mind, which you had forced to stop thinking about the world around you, and what you were doing. The breezed tickled your face, as if the wind tried to replicate the feeling of tips of grass grazing on ones cheek.
The only noise was the muffled chattering from students below, creating the perfect background noise to just...relax.
Until you heard yelling.
It was coming from the stairwell that lead up to the roof. You didn’t move a muscle, it was probably just loud, rambunctious students.
But it just kept on going, and going, on and on like a hyper parakeet who had a shot of expresso.
Well, since your admirers haven’t shown their faces for the past fifteen minutes, there’s nothing better right now than to snoop on the possible drama rumbling around in the stairwell. Might make a good story to tell someday, you never know.
You made your way into the stairwell, only to be met with very familiar voices, but you quickly made your presence unknown to them, hiding behind a wall.
“Kokichi! I told you not to not to get yourself involved!” Nagito raised his voice a little, but not to the point where it was just pure anger talking. Kokichi stood, fists balled up in pent up frustration.
“I know you did! And it was stupid that I did, but-“ Kokichi yelled, desperation in his voice.
“Then WHY? You knew I wrote that letter, hell, you were there helping me write the damn thing, but you go and do this?!” Nagito’s heart was the one talking at this point, because you’ve never heard his voice twinge in such genuine emotional pain.
But now you knew who wrote the letter, it was Nagito.
That didn’t sink in as hard as it was supposed to, until-
Wait, Nagito?
“Y-you don’t understand!” Kokichi responded, clenching his teeth from emotional agony.
“I do understand, and I just want to tell you that you’ve went way too far on this sick joke-“
“IT’S NOT A JOKE!” Kokichi cried out, a rasp in his voice becoming evident.
“Then what is it, Kokichi? Spill it. You know how important this is to me, and I don’t like yelling at you.” Nagito was stern, his voice dominating the purple-haired boy.
“Because...I-I...” his voice broke in sadness and so, so much regret. He suddenly huffed, opening his mouth to wallow out.
“B-BECAUSE I LOVE THEM TOO!” Kokichi sobbed. Thick, wet tears rolling down his swollen cheeks. Nagito was shocked, not saying a word. Nagito’s frown deepend because of the wallowing boy in front of him that he cared so much for. Yet, like always, he could never find the words to wrap Kokichi in warmth and apology. The thought made Nagito’s eyes begin to water.
Look what you did, you hurt him, you absolute scum.
“B-but *hic* I-I-I’m s-so *hic* s-selfish...I...” Kokichi hiccuped, trying his absolute best to get his words across.
“I’M SO FUCKING SELFISH, BECAUSE I LOVE YOU TOO, NAGITO KOMAEDA....y-you b-b-big jerk...” Kokichi wailed, a river of tears poring, falling to the concrete floor; the droplets staining the ground in a darker shade of grey when they landed.
“O-oh my god...K-Kokichi...l-“ Nagito started, hands shaking violently. This was bad, this was really bad.
And you knew that.
So you ran. You ran so fast out of your hiding spot, down to the two people in this world that you cared about the most.
And before you knew it, you harshly brought the both of them into your arms, causing the three of you to to collapse onto the ground.
You let it all out. You bawled into their arms, letting out your cries. Whether it was just from sadness, or of relief, that didn’t matter. You cried, until your eyes went dry, and all of your tears were soaked into the boys’ shirts.
. . .
After a bit, all was silent, except for the breathing of you three all mixing together. Your bodies were intermingled, assuming the best position for comfort and care.
You needed to say something, anything. You needed to tell them, or else everything will fall apart.
“I can’t choose.” You put it simply, the two other boys perked up, tear stains prominently showing on both of their faces.
“(Y/N)...” Nagito mumbled.
“I desperately need the both of you. So badly. I want to love you two so much I want my lips to hurt from kissing you two so much by the end of each day. I want my hands to cramp from holding both of you two’s hands so much.” You proclaimed, letting out everything that has been building up in your heart.
“I want to wake up with the warmth of two. I want to spend my days and nights with all of my love coming from two. And...I want to try each and every new thing life brings me, with the love of two.” You gasped for air, sighing out of your mouth, regulating your breath to its normal pace.
“I understand if you don- mphf!” You were promptly shut.
Kokichi had placed his lips on yours, causing a jolt of passion to ignite your soul. The feeling was delicate and new, but it was incredibly lovely You promptly kissed back, feeling a joy you’ve never felt before in your life.
The two of you parted with the kiss when the both of you felt soft lips gently peck both of your foreheads. It was as soft as a feather, yet it made the two of you go so incredibly soft.
You and Kokichi looked up to see Nagito, a small smile on his face. One of his hands reached up to your left cheek, while the other hand made its way to Kokichi’s right. He then lovingly dragged his thumbs across both of your cheeks, smile growing wider, while his face became rosy.
“There’s...so much I want to say but...I hope my actions can at least convey how my heart wants to treat the two of you.” Nagito said, his voice dropped, but in a more of a endearing tone than anything. The boy was still smiling like this was the happiest day in his life.
“I think it would be fun if we all had a slumber party as our first date.” Kokichi giggled, nuzzling into Nagito’s long, slender fingers.
“That sounds like fun, I think it would be delightful.” Nagito playfully pinched Kokichi’s cheek lightly, causing Kokichi to giggle, smiling wide.
“But we do have one thing to take care of first...” Nagito glanced over to you, chuckling.
You were fast asleep within the palm of his hand. It made him fall in love all over again, to be honest.
Nagito and Kokichi worked to untangle themselves from your limbs, trying not to wake you. They then promptly proceeded to place you on Nagito’s back, in a comfortable position so you could keep on sleeping soundly.
“You up for taking our little Cutie back to her place?” Kokichi snickered.
“Of course, love. Only if you would accompany me? Nagito stuck out his hand, waiting for the warmth of another.
“You’re lucky I really like you, clover.” Kokichi hastily grabbed his hand, weaving their fingers together.
As they began walking out to the main exit gate, Kokichi spoke.
“You know, I said a lie earlier I didn’t like. I don’t just like you...I actually really love you. The both of you. That’s something I could never lie about.” Kokichi pledged, the evening orange sky bouncing off of his face. Nagito squeezed the shorter males hand lovingly.
“I love you too, Kokichi. And not just you also, but the both of you. My heart will be forever loyal to the two of you until I rest in my own grave, remember that.”

Gonta Gokuhara Character Analysis: When a Genius is Treated like a Child
So a quick disclaimer: Yes, I am very aware that this is most likely not canon, or at least not what the writers intended on being canon, nor am I saying that this is 100% canon and should be considered as such. This is just a fan theory/analysis I came up with for my own enjoyment and wanted to share with others, as I like coming up with theories/analysis posts and reworking canons to make enhanced stories and character development in my perspective. I firmly believe that the idea of making theories isn’t supposed to be a shouting contest to see which opinion is the most loud and correct, but should be something to share with others and find acceptance and understanding in different interpretations, even if you don’t agree with them.
Well, this has been a long time coming, hasn’t it?
I’ve been talking about wanting to do this analysis for months now to various friends and acquaintances, but I’ve only had the motivation to do as such recently, after writing a short story that dived deeper into Gonta’s mindset over the Mercy Killing Plot he and Kokichi attempted to carry out. Regardless of that, however, Gonta has been one of my favorite characters for quite some time, and I really feel like his character arc and the unfortunate tragedy behind the unintentional mistreatment of Gonta via his classmates.
So without further adieu, let’s talk about that--about what happens when a genius is treated like a child.
Warning, this does discuss some rather unfortunate topics, such as ableism, depression/self loathing, and the concept of mercy killing. Viewer discretion is advised.
The first thing we need to elaborate on, is why I am calling Gonta a “genius.” Gonta has shown difficulty in understanding simple concepts, and struggles to follow along complicated plots, such as we see in his Salmon Mode Event where he mentions that he cannot follow the plot of high fantasy stories because they tend to be so complicated. He even refers to himself as not very smart, tragically enough.
However, not is all what it seems for Gonta, as his intellect is a matter of fact, and not just an analysis, and the game’s introduction of him opens up this fact to the player in a round about way that may or may not be so subtle.
Gonta admits here that he was a wild child, lost in the forest for ten years. While the logistics are... questionable, this is a work of fiction, thus I will suspend some disbelief. Gonta being lost in the forest for ten years means that he was probably about 5-8 years old when he was lost, depending on how old he is in the game.
Touching upon this briefly, studies of wild children, specifically referencing this case here, have an extremely hard time readjusting and learning to human language, customs, and interaction. The younger a child is upon becoming a wild child and the longer they are in the wild, the less likely they will be able to learn language and certain social behaviors and skills. While it is not impossible, the likelihood of Gonta being 15 or 16 in the game is very low, and even impossible once I elaborate, and we can safely assume that with the context of him being a wild child, he is probably at least 17 years old. So a safe assumption is that Gonta was lost in the forest when he was about 7.
(Note: I am very well aware of Gonta’s potential forest family not being wolves, and instead the reptites, but these creatures Gonta speaks of very well be his own imagination spiking from the isolation from humanity, or be something else entirely. Gonta makes several references to video game characters as well, claiming he met them in real life, so I consider it highly unlikely that “reptites” are an exception to this. Either way, it won’t matter if you believe otherwise, just that it may change certain aspects of what I’m about to say in regarding education and the sort.)
What’s the point of this elaboration? Well, quite a lot, once you remember that Gonta is the Ultimate Entomologist.
Firstly, there is the fact that Gonta is a high school student at all. Gonta was lost at a very young age--it would be impossible for him to be, since not only had he spent 10 years int he wild, but he also had to rejoin human society, relearn human language and customs, and then be put back into formal education. If Gonta is still a teenager and not over 21, then Gonta would have to cram in a decade’s worth of formal education into a few months, or a few years, at most.
This makes Gonta a literal prodigy.
Had Gonta not been isolated from humanity for a decade, Gonta would have been a child prodigy, a literal genius with an intellect that couldn’t be so easily matched. Having the capacity to learn advance mathematics, language (although in the English version, he is struggling with speak (speaking with the infamous “caveman” speech pattern) scientific methods, all of it within such a short amount of time proves that Gonta is, without a shred of doubt, a genius.
Even if you take the aforementioned reptites into account, it only makes Gonta’s accomplishments slightly less impressive, depending on your interpretation of what the reptites actually are. This is because Gonta still had to engage with formal education, and even in the best case scenario where the reptites were fully advanced beings with a civilization and education (which I quite doubt, if they were, then why not give Gonta back to the human race when he was still a child? Why not guide him back to his kind? Why keep him? Even if they were afraid of humanity, it would be far, far worse for the humans to find them while looking for their lost son... I digress.) Gonta still had to learn Japan’s education. Their history, their language, their social customs--and then, Gonta had to learn how to be an entomologist.
You need to go to college to be an entomologist.
According to this website here, the basic, bare bones higher education one needs in order to apply for certain positions related to entomology is a bachelor’s degree, with most positions and places requiring a doctoral decree. There are, of course, youth clubs for students under eighteen, but from my understanding, in order to be considered an entomologist, you need a college degree.
Gonta is a high school student.
For him to be considered an Ultimate Entomologist, Gonta would have to have taken college courses and gotten some kind of degree in order to be recognized as such. Thus, Gonta is still learning a higher education within a short period of time that is incredible for any human being his age, whether it be as drastic as him having no sort of education while living in the wild, or living with the reptites.
Either way, it is safe to say that Gonta is very intelligent, whether or not he is potentially a prodigy for it.
However, this has very unfortunate implications of the way Gonta is treated by his peers in the game.
Not only does Tsumugi here reenforce that idea in everyone else’s mind...
She blatantly tells Gonta that he was being manipulated and or “tricked” into abducting everyone...
When, in actuality, not only did Gonta know exactly what he was doing:
Kokichi even elaborated on his plans quite explicitly to Gonta:
And earlier on, the rest of the class had been treating him differently than they treat one another, sort of like he was a young child they needed to guide.
For example;
Kirumi assumes Gonta is not very aware that hitting someone with such an object is dangerous... despite him being a peer to his classmates and a young man.
And when Gonta has a pretty valid concern;
He is instructed against it and/or ignored on the subject:
Even Kaede slips up a little;
And during the investigation...
Himiko is 100% convinced here that Gonta is the culprit, to the point where she is trying to trick him with this kind of phrasing.
“Are you not, not the culprit?” equates to “Are you the culprit?”
“Are you not, not, not the culprit?” equates to... I believe it would be “Are you not the culprit?”
And that’s the thing:
Like how even I was confused and unsure about the triple ‘nots’ of Himiko’s statement, Gonta is too. Very reasonably so, actually--it’s extremely awkward phrasing purposefully meant to manipulate Gonta into saying he’s the culprit of Rantaro’s murder, and it takes Kaito and Himiko to realize that it was them causing the problem when Kaede called them out on such.
And again, after Gonta explains his actions during the murder, he gets very frustrated;
Already, we are seeing the effects piling up, leading to a frustrated, angry outburst.
And by far, one of the worst examples of this sort of unintentional ableism is this:
And Himiko even just... flat out does this:
By “dumbing down” the explanation of right and left, and not noticing that Gonta is left handed, she caused him to accidentally switch the wires on the headset, causing the memory error and making this entire trial all the more worse for him. By treating him like a child, like the theme of this trial, she only made things worse for him.
And that’s the problem.
Despite Gonta trying to tell everyone that he has no idea what they’re even talking about, everyone just assumes he “can’t understand the Virtual World” and brushes him off. Again and again, Gonta was treated like a child and brushed off, and this time, it came with a heavy consequence.
These instances of “guiding” Gonta are subtle, and on their own, aren’t much to address as anything more than suggestions or words of caution. However, there is a very clear theme of “we have to tell Gonta what he should do” that starts in Chapter 1 and continues on until the end of Chapter 4. They’re unintentionally telling him that Gonta needs to be guided and needs to be reminded of pretty obvious and basic knowledge, and worst of all, that he can’t be trusted to think for himself and thus needs someone to tell him how to think and feel.
If it was one or two times, that would be a whole other story. However, these instances pile up, higher and higher throughout the entire span of Gonta’s time in the Killing Game, and the majority of the class ends up dismissing or ignoring Gonta’s concerns.
This sparks a growing desire to prove himself, to prove that he can be useful during the trials. To prove to his peers that he can do something on his own, think for himself, decide for himself, except even until his final moments;
Even after Gonta’s Alter Ego telling himself and everyone explicitly that he was not tricked into killing Miu...
... No one listens.
Instead of listening to Gonta, over and over, they continue to brush him off and treat him like a child they had to care for, and yet no one stopped to consider that Gonta is a young man. An intelligent, young man who’s socially awkward, but never the less, a peer to them. Yet they didn’t treat him like a peer, and in the end...
Gonta died thinking he was an idiot. A child. A burden who made everything worse for everyone else. They all considered him as a child, and that’s how they saw him even in his final moments.
Gonta throughout the game constantly tries to prove himself, but no one is paying attention. When he learned of the Secret of the Outside World, Gonta didn’t even have anyone else to turn to for help or comfort. His feelings of uselessness compounded by the desperation to prove himself as an equal to everyone else drove him to agreeing to mercy kill the rest of the group... because how else was a stupid, burden of a child supposed to help anyone as he was? Even though he knew killing was wrong, with Kokichi’s plan, he was able to do something “for everyone,” and even that compounded into the ultimate failure.
It’s an unfortunate reality, because had the class treated him as a fellow classmate and peer, this might have been preventable.
Either way, what do you think? Was discussing the unintentional class ableism in depth towards Gonta a bit... too much? I do believe this is the first time I’ve ever done such a post, so youll have to forgive me. It’s also been quite a while since I made a proper analysis, hasn’t it? I must be a little rusty...
I will say--please, do not use this post for any discourse regarding the ableism and what have you if you choose to agree with this interpretation. I will not stand for it.
Either way, I hope you at least found this post to be food for thought. See you all next time.

Getou vs. Monkeys
An analysis on Getou’s psychology, and how he can go from being a well meaning good guy in the Hidden Inventory Arc, to the extremist we see later in the manga. Read more on one of the best villains in Shonen Jump current under the cut.
1. Empathy is a liability
Getou is introduced to us in Hidden Inventory with a unique mentality among sorcerers. In the world of sorcery almost everything is decided either on bloodline, or individual strength. Getou is someone who always sympathizes with the weak.
It’s a philosophy that puts him at odds with Gojou an individualist, but also one that makes him uniquely complementary towards Gojou. Getou is someone who believes in the collective good. He believes the that you have to sacrifice things for the collective good of everybody. That the strong should have their freedom limited and be used in benefit of the weak. That the strong are expected to use their abilities for the sake of the weak.
Getou undergoes a transformation in this arc, but while he is radicalized and pushed to extremes he never actually changes his core beliefs all that much. This is a point that I will explain later, as for now I would like to explain how much Getou’s trauma in the hidden inventory arc had an affect on his world view.
Getou and Gojou are asked on a mission to protect a girl, only to kill her at the end of the mission. That girl’s individual life has to be exintguished for the greater good of everyone, which is something that conflicts with both Getou and Gojou’s world views in a way. Gojou believes in the power of the invidual, and Getou believes that the rules of society exist to protect the weak, not exploit them.
While Getou is a very principled person, he’s also a very empathic person. He wants to do good for society as a whole, but Getou is someone who also deeply sympathizes with individual lives especially the weak, and downtrodden. Getou is someone who will always sympathize with a victim, but that doesn’t necessarily make him a good person.
Getou is the first one to make a connection to Riko in the mission, and he already has a very personal stake in a girl that he’s known for one day, and is going to sacrifice at the end of the mission. He’s also the first one to figure out the connection between Riko and her maid, and how important she was to Riko by declaring them family.
The reason why Getou starts empathizing so much with Riko is important as well. Consider the symbolism of this scene. Riko is someone who has spent her entire life unable to live her life. She was told she was not individually important enough to live. She had to sacrifice herself for the greater good of everyone. Riko isn’t allowed to make any choices in her own life because society has dubbed her unimportant. She is essentially, a small fish in an ocean. She’s all alone and can’t be with everyone else because she’s marked different as them.
However, when she watches the fish at the aquarium she sees them all swimming together in a school, all different kinds of fish. That makes Riko realize what she wants, to be with everyone else, to swim with them. It’s not about being individually big or small or important, it’s about being with everybody.
Riko craves a life together with other people. She’s important because she’s a part of this world too just like everyone else.
Getou who sympathizes with the individual so much he’s willing to side against the entire of Jujutsu Society and his direct orders from his superiors in order to allow her to live her life. Only for that life to be immediately taken in front of him. That is the source of Getou’s trauma, empathy and connection in the Jujutsu world is something that deeply hurts him because connection is not valued.
This is something we see over and over again in the manga. Characters longing for connection, characters wanting to be together with everyone (characters like Kokichi who repeats the exact same words when he makes his final standoff against Mahito, or Junpei who wanted to join Yuji even after losing his mother) only die alone. People want to connect. The system the world is designed around, especially the Jujutsu World, is unfair, heartless, and punishes connection.
Getou’s trigger for all of this is watching the nameless crowds all celebrate Riko’s death, especially since he later comes to associate that with how the rest of society is completely oblivious to the suffering of individual Sorcers who die horrible deaths for the sake of the greater good.
Getou is looking everywhere for justice in the world and the sense that he’s doing the right thing, but all he sees is corpses piling up, a small minority of people has to suffer for the sake of an ignorant majority. Not only that but the system that Getou is working inside is corrupt too, it assigns him missions like executing a teenage girl for the sake of everyone else.
It’s a system that does not value individual lives, and therefore pumps out teenage sorcerers only to have them die on the regular. It almost makes sense to respond to Jujutsu Society the way Gojou did, because Gojou by distancing himself from others and taking responsibility for everyone on his shoulders and becoming strong enough that no one can overpower him means he retains his sanity unlike Getou.
The incident that causes him to defect is just another repettition of this vicious cycle he sees everywhere. Two individuals who are hurt and rejected by an entire small town, and made to be a scapegoat by people who are completely ignorant. Getou sees this incident as a microcosm of jujutsu society as a whole, and that’s why he comes to reject the way the world is built.
2. Sinner of the System
I’ve been too nice to Getou so far. Time for the second half of the post where I point out what a hypocrite he is. Getou’s actions are a rejection of Jujutsu Society pushed to their ultimate extreme. In his mind the only way to reform the current world is to completely destroy it, and establish a enw world order with Jujutsu Sorcerers on top. That is the only way he can see stopping the suffering of individual sorcerers. In a way he’s just flipped the equation, instead of a few suffering for the many, he’s taken out the many for the sake of the chosen few.
His actions are a rejection of the Jujutsu System as a whole and also a response to trauma. A few of his habits after his radicalization are a direct response to Toji. First, when Toji tells him to be sure to thank his parents, Getou goes out of his way to kill his parents when he switches his side. Also the first character to use the term ‘monkey’ to refer to people who cannot use Jujutsu, was Toji himself immediately after taking out Getou.
However, while Getou rejects Jujutsu Society he is still someone very much shaped by it. Despite Getou believing in acting for the collective good, he is someone raised with an individualist mindset. He believes power is everything especially when it comes to changing the world.
Getou even says this, if he had the strength to kill every last person on earth, he would use that strength to kill everybody in a heartbeat. Despite the fact that what Gojou wants is to stop the suffering of individual sufferers because he views them as the weaker party compared to the masters, he also reflects a survival of the fittest mindset in his actual methodology. One, he tries to accomplish everything with mere strength alone. Two, he wants to create a world where the only people are allowed to survive are Jujutsu Sorcerers, those born with Jujutsu abilities.
Getou looks down on people who are not born with inherent Jujutsu powers, especially people like Toji the source of his trauma. However, the reason someone like Toji even existed was not because of the fact he was born without any inherent abilities, but rather the way he was treated and looked down upon by everyone because of it. Getou in a way despite trying to reject society reflects many of the prevalent views of that society. Everything should be decided by the strong. People born without Jujutsu abilities are worthless and to be looked down upon. People need to be sacrificed for the greater good of everyone, even innocent people just trying to live their lives. Instead of just sacrificing one Riko, he’s decided to sacrifice millions of Riko’s.
The society Getou wants to produce is a carbon copy of the Jujutsu Society that he came from, he just wants to put a different set of people on the top. This is also something that Gojou points out as a flaw in Getou’s reasoning, yes it’s possible to just slaughter everyone to affect change, but the people in charge are inevitably going to just be replaced by new people if you don’t change the attitudes of the system as well.
Getou wants to make a better world, unaware of how shaped he is by the system he’s reacting to. He judges people on how they were born just like Jujutsu Society, in volume Zero he’s perfectly willing to attack teenagers to get what he wants. (Remember one of his criticisms of society was how many teenage Jujutsu High Students die horrible deaths).
Getou repeats the prejudice that the Zenin family has on Maki, by dismissing her as a monkey for her lack of natural born ability, despite the fact that she’s working harder than anyone else to become a sorcerer.
Once again this is all rooted to the idea of empathy that surrounds Getou’s character. He’s someone who will always sympathize with the individual, in a world where individuals die all the time, and Getou cannot handle that. It drives him insane. His only response to this hyperempathy he experiences is to completely shut that off.
Getou is able to kill his own parents, because he doesn’t see them as his family anymore. His only family are the ones he chooses to see that way. Getou is able to imagine slaughter on a widescale, because he doesn’t see them as human. He doesn’t connect or empathize with their pain in any way. It’s an extremely bad coping mechanism. The world dehumanizes Shamans and in response, Getou dehumanizes the masses. If you don’t see a person as human you don’t have to think about what you’re doing to them. Getou still empathizes with people, but only sorcerers. He spares them because he sees them as human.
In essence Getou is someone who wants to build a more just world, but he’s forgotten about love and connection. He’s turned off the part of his brain that empathizes with the individual and the hurt because if he left it on he’d never be able to accomplish what he wants to do. It’s also the reason the Getou from Hidden Inventory is eventually defeated by the love he had forgotten after staring at the ugliness of the world for too long.

Were We? (Saiou Week Day 7)
@saiouweek
Surprise, surprise, I actually managed to write something for Saiou Week! I feel like it could also fall under the prompt “Past Life” for Day 2 but because the past life in this references to them during the killing game and their present life is something completely different, I decided to just post it under free day.
I hope you all like it! :D
Title: Were We?
Prompt: Shuichi’s Birthday or Free Day
Summary: Shuichi has spent over three hundred years as a Grim Reaper, roaming the streets of Tokyo and leading deceased souls to the afterlife. One day, he runs into a purple-haired male whom he has seen in his dreams and it makes him feel emotions he hasn’t felt in god knows how long.
One-Shot Notes: Inspired by the Kdrama Goblin with Shuichi as the Grim Reaper and Kokichi as Sunny; their past life is them in the killing game while their present life is with Shuichi as the grim reaper and Kokichi as a human
Warnings: A sprinkling of angst, NDRV3 spoilers; read at your own risk!
Read on under the cut!
Shuichi walked along the sidewalk, the crisp autumn breeze ruffling his black hair and making his long, black trench coat flutter with each step he took. He stuffed his leather glove-clad hands into his pockets, hoping to warm them as he walked to his destination.
He had no souls to collect and take back to his tea shop until the afternoon, so he decided to take a walk and get himself some coffee before heading to the first accident that was supposed to take place. He also wanted to get away from Rantaro, the immortal goblin that he’s been rooming with as of late. His singing was obnoxious, anyway.
Upon arriving at the coffee shop he frequented, he was met with the warm and comforting smell of baked sweets and freshly brewed coffee. The barista at the counter greeted him, a wide smile on his face. Shuichi greeted him in response as he grabbed for an empty medium-sized cup.
“Americano with no sugar and no cream, correct?” he asked.
“Yeah, that’s correct. You know me well, Naegi-kun.” Shuichi told him.
“Well, you come here so often that I know your order by now!” Makoto slid a small plate with a cream cheese danish on it across the counter. “Here’s your danish as well, Saihara-kun.” he said.
“Thank you.” Shuichi replied.
After paying, he went to sit at the window bar. He nibbled on his danish as he watched passerbys walk the streets. He let his mind wander, and just like it usually did, it went to a male whose face he was unable to see.
Recently, Shuichi has been having dreams involving him. They always took place in what the grim reaper assumed to be a school, but it gave off prison vibes and it rubbed Shuichi the wrong way. But what happened between him and the male in that prison-esque school building could only be summarized as eventful and fun.
The male seemed to be a pain in the ass at times, lying all the time and pulling pranks on other people that were at the school, but the times they spent together were nice. They played games in the dining hall, hid away together in the casino, and read books in the basement library until they fell asleep on each other, blankets wrapped around each other with the male’s head on his shoulder and his head resting against the male’s.
These dreams were filled with happiness and love confessions whispered against each other’s lips as they pressed against each on the couch in the AV room, the film they were watching long forgotten. The Shuichi in those dreams was overjoyed and he looked at the male in his arms with love, which confused the grim reaper when he woke up from that particular dream.
Never in his three hundred years of life had he felt such an emotion so raw and passionate.
Fueled by his curiosity, he looked forward to these dreams. He wondered about how the Shuichi in his dreams interacted with this male he was dating and if these two were able to get out of the school that held them captive and away from the black and white robotic bear that played them like a fiddle in this killing game they were thrown into, living happily ever after.
But what the grim reaper dreamed of last night was anything but nice. In fact, it resembled a nightmare. Everything was smeared in darkness and steeped in the pungent, coppery scent of blood. There was mourning over the execution of a guy named Gonta, whose heart was made of gold and who wouldn’t dare hurt a fly (literally). There was screaming, shouting, tears, and words that pierced through the heart like sharpened blades and spilled blood everywhere without mercy, the dream eventually ending with images of a bloodied hydraulic press.
The way the dream ended last night unsettled Shuichi. Those images were still fresh in his mind as he took a sip from his Americano. Bitterness coated his taste buds, but it wasn’t the pleasant kind that he was accustomed to. Instead, it made his nose crinkle and his body tense from the intensity of it.
He didn’t bother finishing this coffee this time and wolfed down his danish before heading out, hoping that the subtle sweetness would overpower the bitterness that lingered in his mouth.
He eventually found himself strolling along a bridge, which seemed unusually quiet for a Monday morning. Well, save for a nearby jewelry booth that he spotted out of the corner. His eyebrow twitched.
Is that even allowed? he asked himself.
He shook his head, clicking his teeth before sighing.
“Whatever. It doesn’t concern me.” he said.
He started to walk past the booth when the owner of the booth called out to him.
“Hey, Mister Handsome in Black!” a chirpy voice called out.
Shuichi came to a stop, wanting nothing more than to tap on his watch and disappear from her sight.
Can’t anybody let me be in peace today? he wondered to himself.
He shot a glance at the owner, who turned out to be a girl in her twenties with wavy black hair and sparkling amber eyes. Her red lips pulled upward into a smile.
“Are you in need of some new accessories?” she asked.
Shuichi turned his body more, lowering his gaze to the sparkling jewelry and then up to the girl, who continued to beam at him.
“These kinds of accessories aren’t my style.” he told her.
Besides, you can tell at first glance that they’re cheap ripoffs of the real thing, his mind supplied for him.
This only made her giggle.
“Oh, no worries! Then, you could get one for your girlfriend. I’m sure it’ll please her very much.” she said.
“I don’t swing that way.” Shuichi told her.
She blinked her eyes, shooting him a dumbfounded look as he continued.
“I have a preference for guys, so buying something for a so-called girlfriend would be pointless.” he told her.
“I see...well, maybe your boyfriend would like something from here!” she said.
Shuichi got ready to tell her that he didn’t have a boyfriend, but she was already reaching for a purple rope bracelet with a simple puzzle piece charm on it.
“Here, you could buy this. It’s simple, but quite cute.” she told him.
“I’m sorry, but I’m not interested.” he said.
She puffed her cheeks out.
“Come on! It doesn’t even cost that much. I’m sure you could give me a couple yen.” she said, growing more persistent with each word she spoke.
“Really, I’m fine! I don’t want to buy anything—“ he stopped, gold eyes landing on a checkered scarf.
It was just a simple checkered scarf and yet, Shuichi felt a tug in his heart. It was like the scarf was calling his name, begging for him to pick it up and buy it.
His hand started moving on its own before he could stop it. It inches further and further towards the checkered fabric, the tug at his heart growing stronger. His finger brushed along it as another hand appeared in his vision, snatching the scarf up and abruptly snapping him out of whatever trance he had fallen under.
“Oooh, this looks cute! This is totally my style. How much is it?”
Shuichi blinked, looking to his right and locking on a male wispy purple hair that stuck out in all directions. He was shorter than him, making him about five foot one, if he had to guess. The male wore a black and white sawtooth pattern coat with dark denim skinny jeans and black ankle boots.
Almost as if the male knew he was being watched, he turned away from the girl running the booth and locked eyes with Shuichi. The grim reaper felt the wind being knocked out of him the minute it happened. The male’s eyes were a deep shade of purple that sparkled like precious gems in the morning light.
Then, it happened.
Snippets from the dreams he’d been having came slamming into him like a truck, accompanied by a chirpy voice.
“Saihara-chan, let’s play a game!”
“Nishishi! It was just a lie. Or was I lying about that being a lie? The world may never know!”
“I...like you too, Saihara-chan.”
“Ew, I don’t think I can understand why you like black coffee so much.”
“Come oooooooon, Saihara-chan! You promised we’d go swimming!”
“Saihara-chan!”
“Saihara-chan!”
“Saihara-chan...I’m sorry.”
“...I’ll always love you, Saihara-chan.”
Before Shuichi could process what was happening, a single tear trailed down his cheek. He could only stare at the male with a dumbfounded look on his face.
The male peered at Shuichi curiously, brows furrowed and lips pursed.
“Why are you watching me like that? I saw this first.” he waved the scarf around. “You hear me? I saw it first. First!” he shouted.
However, Shuichi didn’t respond. The male arched a brow as he continued to look Shuichi up and down.
“Wait a minute...are you crying?” he leaned in closer. “Oh shit, you are.” he said.
Minty breath tickled his lips and the minute Shuichi realized how close his face was, he immediately jerked back like he burned himself.
“H-Huh?” he stammered out.
“You were crying just now.” the male pointed out.
“What? I wasn’t—“ Shuichi reached up to touch his cheek and immediately felt the wet tear trail on it.
He dabbed at it in surprise. He couldn’t remember the last time he shed a tear, let alone if he actually did during the amount of time he’s been alive. Just what the heck was going on?
The male continued to eye him.
“Do you want it? The scarf, that is. I wanted to buy it because it looked neat, but if you want it…” he murmured.
“Uh...I…” Shuichi trailed off.
“Hm? Are you speechless? Is it because I’m so drop dead gorgeous that you can’t say anything?” the male teased.
“Wha…?!” Shuichi gawked at him in shock, cheeks flushing red.
“Nishishi! Aw, you’re adorable when you’re flustered! It makes me want to kiss you.” the male said.
The blush on Shuichi’s cheeks deepened, which only made him giggle more.
“But seriously, do you want it? Because if you do, I’m not gonna give it to you for free.” the male held his hand out to him. “Give me your number.” he said.
“My...number?” Shuichi questioned.
“Yeah? I’m going to need to contact you in regards to this scarf, you know.”
“I don’t have one.”
The male blinked twice.
“Wait. You’re telling me you don’t have a phone?” he asked.
“I don’t have one.” Shuichi replied.
“Why not?”
“I don’t need one, that’s why.”
“How could you not need one? We live in the twenty-first century! Of course you need a cell phone!”
“I just don’t see why I need to have one.”
“Because…!” the male heaved a deep sigh. “Okay, I can’t be doing this right now. I guess that means this scarf will be mine.” he said.
He moved to tie the scarf around his neck, but Shuichi spoke, effectively stopping him.
“W-Wait! Set the scarf down. Write your number down and place it there with the scarf. I’ll call you.” he proposed.
“Weeeeeeell…” he proceeded to twirl some hair around his finger. “We should at least exchange names if that’s how you wanna do it.” he said.
“Okay...well, my name’s Saihara. Saihara Shuichi.” Shuichi told him.
“Saihara-chan? I’ll make sure to remember that, then. I’m Ouma. Ouma Kokichi.” Kokichi introduced.
He reached his hand out for Shuichi to shake. The grim reaper could only stare down at the hand quizzically before redirecting his gaze to Kokichi’s. The purple-haired male watched him expectantly, waiting for Shuichi to shake it.
“If you don’t want to shake it, then that’s fine.” Kokichi turned back to the booth owner. “You said it was thirteen hundred yen, right? I’ll take it.” he said.
He began to fish through his pocket, mumbling to himself about where he put his wallet. Shuichi sighed, reaching into his trench coat and pulling out his wallet. Flipping it open, he pulled out a few bills and handed it to the booth owner.
“Here, I’ll pay for it.” he said.
Kokichi gaped at him in surprise.
“Wait! Saihara-chan, I can pay for it—“
“I already gave her the money. Just let it be.”
The purple-haired male pouted as the girl giggled.
“Aw, how sweet! By the way…” she leaned in closer to Shuichi, which startled him a little. “This scarf costs way more than thirteen hundred yen. The cost for it is...quite hefty, if I do say so myself.” she whispered lowly.
“How much does it cost, then?” Shuichi asked.
“Hm...maybe someone’s memories?” she hummed out in response.
Shuichi eyed her warily, but she only smiled at him brightly as she accepted the money from him. He sighed, withdrawing from her as Kokichi spoke.
“Well, since you bought it, I guess I should let you have it for now.” he handed the scarf to Shuichi along with a slip of paper. “And here’s my number.” he said.
Shuichi took the scarf and paper from Kokichi, examining them. As he did, Kokichi continued to eye him. Upon feeling the set of eyes on him, he glanced back at Kokichi.
“Yes?” he said.
“You know...the more I look at you, the more I feel like I’ve seen you before.” Kokichi commented.
Shuichi’s eyes widened in surprise as Kokichi leaned in towards him, purple eyes scanning him.
“I wonder...were we lovers in a past life or something?” he mused aloud.
“Were we...what?” he questioned, wondering if he heard him correctly.
“Lovers. Maybe we were lovers in a past life.”
“Were we?”
Kokichi shrugged.
“The world may never know.” the sound of a phone ringing reached their ears. “Ah, that’s mine. I’m going to need to go now.” Kokichi said.
He pulled away from Shuichi and began to walk past him.
“I’ll be waiting for your call, my beloved Saihara-chan!” he called out over his shoulder.
“My beloved…?!” Shuichi squeaked as he turned, watching Kokichi wave his hand as he headed down the steps and disappeared from his sight.
Shuichi sighed deeply.
“That was...interesting.” he murmured.
He looked down at the scarf, running a thumb along the fabric before focusing on the piece of paper that had Kokichi’s number on it along with his name and a quick doodle of himself. As he continued to stare at the two items, Kokichi’s question rang in his mind.
“I wonder...were we lovers in a past life or something?”
The bits and pieces from his dreams resurfaced as he thought back on them. This time, the mystery male had wispy purple hair, purple eyes, and a mischievous smile. He gripped the scarf tighter.
He couldn’t help but wonder if these dreams he was having were merely dreams or if they were something. Maybe they were pieces of his memory from his past life that he was told that he shouldn’t remember at all costs.
But if it were indeed those memories that stayed buried within him, locked in Pandora’s box...then Kokichi might be onto something.

Overemotional Chapter 6
Some heavy stuff is ahead so be very careful and it'll help if someone notices something that should be a trigger warning
Shuichi pulled at his hair while nervously swinging his legs as he sat on the bed. He needed a talk with himself.
He can’t just sit around wondering how to not go after Tsumugi.
He sighed as his stomach growls.
And no focusing on food, it’s not important. Everyone getting out should be the goal, not meaningless things like that.
Shuichi exhales shakily, forcing his feet on the floor.
“Where should I even start?” Before he could bite his fingers, he smelt the nail polish and quickly retreated.
Shuichi grabbed his gear and wait to see where his mind decides to take him. Often checking where everyone’s locations would be so he could avoid them.
He blinked when he observes his designation.
The library?
Shuichi glances around, trying to separate himself from his emotions.
He found himself wondering if there was a secret book or something to push where a hidden passage could be.
Shuichi poked, pushed, and pulled at numerous areas of the bookcases mentally begging for a response of some sort.
He’s startled when he got a bookcase to just well open. He sighs in disappointment, even if this hidden door had a normal lock, he can’t picklock.
The more he looked the more he knew this would not be an easy task.
Normally Shuichi would like a challenge but...this mastermind was as frustrating as an organization hunting him down.
He pondered between just trying to solve the mystery of this or just get Rookie to shift into her other robot mode and slice it apart since Sin’ichi did design her kind of robot with sharp blades that would promise to cut through anything, even human bone.
Shuichi decided against cheating and both of his robot helpers had suddenly gained some errors and isolated themselves in his lab for privacy to auto repair.
Shuichi sighed heavily, massaging his forehead. Best to think about this later, he closed off the bookcase then walked out.
Now what?
He might as well investigate every core and corner of the school. Maybe he’ll get an idea of what his next action should be.
“Alright let’s check the dining hall.”
Shuichi quietly makes his way there but pauses when he hears his name.
“Shuichi!”
He doesn’t turn to face Kiibo.
“...What is it?” Shuichi didn’t really have time to interact with people.
He’s done enough of that.
“I...want to apologize for what I said…”
Out of the corner of his eye, Shuichi noticed his antenna-looking thing droop and the bot was tapping his fingers together.
“Huh? Apologize?” He felt confusion flood his every core, honestly puzzled.
It made him turn.
“Y...yes, I’m sorry I made you upset, on the first day of the motive…”
Now it clicked in Shuichi’s brain.
“Oh.” He didn’t know how to react but he knew he had to say something since Kiibo was starting to get more nervous.
Shuichi forced a polite smile. “Sorry, it’s just...no one has ever apologized to me before so it feels a bit odd.”
Kiibo relaxed at Shuichi’s small smile, not realizing it was fake.
“I’m honestly sorry that you felt like you had to,” Shuichi muttered under his breath.
Shuichi’s the one being the stupid crybaby that cries at every single thing that happens.
“What?”
Shuichi’s quickly reminded of the motive but luckily Kiibo didn’t hear it.
“Sorry, it’s nothing important.” He faces toward the Dining Hall again. “I got places to investigate so see you later Kiibo.”
He waved then ran inside.
Shuichi’s expression fell once he was out of Kiibo’s sight. And managed to force himself to go forward. He practically tore apart every inch of the room to find at least one kind of lead.
He had hesitated before peeking into the bathrooms. He quietly creeps over and checks the girl’s bathroom first.
He was no detective but the motive hadn’t weakened his sense to know something was off.
He curiously looks around and feels like he has found the odd thing.
And yet he did not advance. Shuichi had a theory that a card key could be in there.
But there might not be.
So he didn’t have a clear picture, but it was a good reference for the future.
Shuichi backs out of the restroom, luckily no one caught him so he’s free to sprint to his lab.
It’s annoying that it’s so high but…
He knocks on the door.
“Rookie? Lo? I’m coming in.”
Shuichi waits for confirming beeping noises before successfully opening the door. He is never really worried about anyone coming in since they would have to get their permission to come in and ninety percent of the stuff that’s locked up required codes that only Shuichi knew.
Since he never wrote them down, they’re safely kept in his head.
He paced back and forth.
“I found a hidden door behind a bookshelf, it requires a key card but I don’t know where to find that…”
He grips his hair.
“And I found a passageway of some kind in the girl’s bathroom…”
“Why were you in the girl’s restroom?” Lo’s voice at the moment is glitchy.
“Investigation,” Shuichi answered semi calmly but showed no sign of getting what Lo meant.
Rookie had no visible face but she could see Shuichi was acting weird. He never had come off so panicky and nervous about places to get information.
She was detecting overwhelming emotions that haven’t been there...since back at the facility.
She didn’t have many emotional drivers installed like Lo but she was worried and concerned about what could be happening, but they can’t do much when undergoing auto repair.
“I’ll look into it later when you two are able to leave the lab.” He looks out then silently closes the door.
Shuichi’s chosen place today is on some patch of grass in the courtyard where he seems to just be pulling on it.
His shoulders were tensed as if preparing to attack any threat…
Or simply has never relaxed.
These past days it seemed like Shuichi was just pushing himself and wouldn’t even stop after the hard limit is passed.
He looks worse every day!
And walking closer was no exception.
Kokichi pulls him up by his sweater.
“Huh-”
“You should relax before you kill yourself.”
Shuichi groaned as if he just got told he’s grounded.
“I don’t need to.”
“Tell that to your whhhole body.”
Shuichi pauses, maybe actually feeling his own tension.
“What is ‘relaxing’ going to do for me?”
Why did you say it like that?
“You’ll be alive, that’s for sure!”
“ You say that as if me being alive would be a good thing .”
Shuichi murmured under his breath.
“What?” He pretended to not hear to see if Shuichi would address it.
“Nothing.”
Welp, guess not.
“We’re having tea?” Despite Shuichi insisting he did not need it, his shoulders had relaxed as if secretly wanting this.
“WELL, we coulda had coffee but it’s horrible.”
Shuichi stared at the drink.
“Well, true, but it has caffeine in it.”
...Shuichi still hadn’t drunk even a sip.
“Does this have caffeine in it?” The question was so genuine and innocent it almost made Kokichi laugh.
“Nope! Zero.”
Shuichi makes a face. “Why are you offering me it then? Why idiot doesn’t drink caffeine?”
“I lied-”
As soon those words left, Shuichi proceeded to drink the tea in amounts that would easily burn.
“Ow!”
And it burned.
“Shuichi you dummy, why did you start drinking so fast?”
Shuichi winced as he tried to soothe the skin where some of the hot liquid spilled since you just can’t drink that fast out of a teacup .
“I always do it with caffeine to wake me up faster!”
Shuichi did have a surprisingly fun time arguing with Kokichi if he SHOULD drink tea fast or not.
Yet later that night, he’s sitting in front of his dorm door crying into his left sleeve. The right one loosely held a knife.
He thought about killing Tsumugi to end the game.
But he felt like the attention from the motive was draining him.
D...Don’t be stupid, you deserve it. You always have, you could have had a family, but you were too sensitive and unwilling to change. You got kidnapped because you’re a stupid child.
His thoughts slow drifted around...him. He tells himself every day that Sin’ichi wasn’t bad.
It’s a lie he knows that’s a lie. It’s a comforting lie because it’s the only truth of someone caring about him.
But I was never enough for him and I frustrated him with my emotions and surely slowly everyone will be sick of my emotions and try to beat it out of me.
He doesn’t hear the footsteps coming down, he didn’t even realize he’s sobbing out loud.
What’s wrong with me? Someone tell me what’s wrong with me so I can remove that part of me.
The footsteps reached him but he didn’t notice.

Honestly Chapter 5 is probably the best case out of the entire franchise. And god, the title of Chapter 5 makes me cry every time. "A Voyage without Passion or Purpose"... kinda really hits you hard when you realize it's a reference to how both Kaito and Kokichi walked down a path they never wanted to, and yet they still did their best to make the most of it....
I agree about the chapter, it's easily my number 1. Even though I did kind of realise a lot of the things, for example I was saying throughout the series that I believe Kokichi is not actually evil, and that when he says he's doing things for their sake he never claimed he was lying, and I also always guessed he'd be the victim not the killer, it still managed to make me so emotional about everything.
And the title is really funny to me because when I saw it I thought about DR2s 5th title, a VERY obvious nod to Nagito, and the use of the word "voyage", a very spacey term, made me immediately go "well Kaito's screwed." I kind of wavered a bit when the gofer project was revealed, as that also had something to do with space, but then the death happened and I hate it.
It was awful because I LOVE both Kokichi and Kaito, and I just knew when the body was found that I'd have to say goodbye to both of them in one chapter.
The only other chapter that made me cry was DR2 trial 2 and this one hurt me so much more. The frustration I felt regarding the characters, like how only Kiibo even considered that Kokichi's dying words were the truth and that they didn't even seem to recognise that Kokichi indeed did try to help them, all of those were still things I understand and I think those reactions are fitting for the characters. I felt like I was frustrated when I was meant to be, not anytime bad.
I actually think from a writing perspective, Kokichi might be the best character in the franchise. From a complexity stand point, from an entertainment standpoint, from an emotional and importance standpoint, there's nothing I can criticize about his character, and his flaws make me love him so much more. Then there's Kaito who was so important to Saihara and Maki and as they said, everyone trusted him. And without him, I wouldn't love Maki anywhere near as much either.
This easily had the most weight for me as a case, and it was the most interesting way of handling a trial.

Himiko Yumeno FTE - (Kaede #2)
T H A T ‘ S R O B O P H O B I C
P-Please talk her out of making any desperate moves or taking any extra actions please -
Even if that’s the pot calling the kettle black(ened)
Chalk one up to pure laziness, I suppose!
I swear Himiko was the one who also told K1-b0 to blow himself up to save everyone.... Himiko, does sci-fi really turn you off that badly?! Honestly, she might be worse than Kokichi.
I really do like this cheeky sprite of hers ~
Again, those Kokichi vibes are strong here which is something that has been consistently surprising me in Kaede’s FTEs. They both told her that if she doesn’t want to deal with them, she can go away.
because mama needs to complete her FTEs
completionist -
Again, Himiko?! A-Are you that used to girls getting crushes on you? .... Are you hoping for it??? Then again, I’m not sure she said that in such a nice way to Tenko in-game...
Mmhm, Miss ‘I’d love to lay my head on a girl’s lap’ has definitely never batted for the other team even once. Yup. Definitely.
“I’ll tell you when you’re older.”
KAEDE IS NOT HERE TO KILL YOU. SHE -
.... I was about to say ‘she’s not going to kill anyone’ lmao -
.... Oh??? It’s not about the game?
This... sounds like a bullying issue. Was she the target of bullies at school then? Admirers or bullies, but no friends?
Kaede, you walked right into that.
Statements like this make me wonder if they pulled any inspiration from Trucy Wright. Considering they made a reference to it in Chapter 2, I’d think maybe a little bit....?
I still think that’s a harsh way to put that. Seriously, why are you telling someone they bother you a lot while you make them hang out with you? 8′D Kaede either has amazing chemistry with people or just... no clue at all how to deal with them, tbh. It’s kind of amazing.
Again!!! That habit of understanding people through her own perception is coming out in full force again! It’s almost incredible to see. She’s even trying to pull Himiko into her POV!
I mean sure, it’s a great way to understand people, but still. This has been a consistent pattern at this point.
What a turnaround for Kaede.
“We have to be, or I won’t be able to figure out how to deal with you or what angle to approach you from.”
This is..... so interesting, actually. Kaede really had to find that personal connection to be able to understand her...
She shook her head, but Kaede is choosing to interpret that as positive confirmation. But is it? Or is it just Kaede’s bias and narrative right now?
This is so tricky! In fact, this might be the first clear example we see of someone choosing to imagine another classmate to be something they’re not. And it happens really early on???
Oooh, doesn’t this sprite not appear until the end of Chapter 3? How interesting to have it pop up so early.
It’s been two FTEs, Kaede.
What an interesting comment. Kaede was trying to pull Himiko up to ‘her pace’, and thought she found a way to do it via the one shared trait they had. With Shuichi, she was also very much about how she thought he should act, how he should be; what she really thought would be best for him. It’s not a bad way to be, but it’s... a bit selfish, isn’t it?
This is definitely one of those FTEs that could have kept going.
In fact, after reading these descriptions, I can already outline how I’d liked for them to continue.
There’s a push and pull between Kaede as she keeps trying to bring Himiko up to her pace. And to be fair, Himiko needs the motivation that Kaede is trying to give her - but she’s pushing way too much for Kaede to be like her without Himiko’s needs or personality being considered.
Down the line, there’s a point of revelation where Kaede realizes this and then finally, finally, starts trying to meet her halfway, and that’s when she finally makes progress. Himiko makes some sort of reference to why she ended up this way, why she needs to rest/take it easy so much, and Kaede doesn’t just dismiss it but engages with her on that level for once rather than the same ‘come up with a bunch of things I think you ought to do’. And then... friendship fragment?
I’m guessing most of Himiko’s background will come out with Shuichi’s and I’ll be able to fill in more of the blanks there, but... yeah. Ah, it is too bad this one gets cut short.... this may have been one of those ‘develop the protag FTEs’ rather than just ‘background on x character’ FTEs.

the dr2 one where the s/o said their first name was SO CUTE and i NEED one for the v3 boys plssssh! i know it was a long time ago but i just saw it :>
I left Kiibo out for obvious reasons, hope you like it!
The SDR2 Version is HERE! Like last time, (F/N) = First Name.
V3 Boys’ S/O Saying Their First Name For The First Time!
Saihara Shuichi
It happened one evening during once of your beloved binge-watchingsessions. That was one of your favorite things to do – just snuggle up and havea marathon together.
He got you into one of his crime shows, of course. He liked solving them as youwatched despite knowing that they were fiction.
It was Winter, far too cold to go outside so you to decide to just cuddle with a pileof blankets on top of you two, bodies pressed firmly together on the love-seat.
You could lose yourself in the intimacy.
He was so used to his last name because it was professional and that’s howeveryone he worked with addressed him.
It was pretty early on in your relationship and you hadn’t felt like youreached that base yet, but you yearned to get that comfortable with one another.
Sure, you thought about moving forward but you didn’t want to rush things or make him uncomfortable.
He was listing off all the possible suspects and marking them off as he went. You loved listening to him work, you could tell how invested he got and howpassionate he was about solving crimes.
It was so fascinating. You couldn’t even imagine being that smart.
“You’re so intelligent, Shuichi~” You’re cooing and running your hands throughhis hair.
He becomes silent and you begin to worry. What was wrong? You hadn’t evenrealized that it slipped out until it was too late and you immediately bite yourtongue.
His cheeks were bright red and now yours were turning as well. Before you couldsay anything, he cut you off with a big, wide grin on his face.
“Don’t apologize, I like it. I’ve been meaning to call you (F/N)… I just didn’twant to move too fast.”
Now you’re really blushing and giggling like mad. Good thing Saihara loved the sound of your giggles.
Ouma Kokichi
He’s the type to ask you to refer him formally because‘He’s a Supreme Leader and should be addressed as such!’
However, you didn’t really like it. He was your boyfriend, not your boss, and you didn’t want his power or influence to completely go to his head. You still wanted him to treat you like his partner.
You understood that it was a comfort thing for him and what he’s used to, butyou’re not a member of his little ‘gang,’ you’re his significant other!
However, Ouma was stubborn and you didn’t want to step over a boundary. You’d ratherwait until your relationship got more serious than make him uncomfortable and potentially ruin it.
It happened one night while you two were getting ready for bed and he wastaking an unusually long amount of time to get ready.
He was usually tucked in before you were and you have been waiting on him for awhile now. You were exhausted, ready to sleep, but didn’t want to without him by your side.
“What’s taking you so long? Come cuddle Kokichi!”
You had a playful tone in your voice but he didn’t pick up on it. He heard youcall for him from the bathroom and responded with “What did you call me?”
Repeating yourself, he waltzed into the room looking a bit perplexed. “I am aLeader!” He stomps his foot like a little child.
You chuckled a bit, not fazed, and rolled your eyes instead. He startedlaughing before slipping under the covers beside you.
Ouma got a bit of a power-trip when you used his first name and it sent chillsdown his spine. He actually thought it was super sexy and attractive coming from you.
“But you get a pass,” he hesitated for a moment and wraps his arm around you,“and you’re the only one who gets to call me that. Stays between us!”
Giving in, you finally agree and he switches the light off. It seems as though Ouma had different plans that didn’t involve sleeping. “You know, there’s other names you can call me…” He winks with a naughty tonebefore embracing you in a long kiss.
Rantaro Amami
He never established what he’d like to be called, but youtwo had playful and romantic nicknames for each other from the start of yourrelationship so you had the tendency to never stray too far from those.
Even in the honeymoon phase before you two became ‘official’, he was always flirting with you and calling you‘Babe’ or ‘Honey’ rather than your actual name.
Whenever he did use your first name, it came as a little surprise so yourefrained from doing the same to him.
Plus, he enjoyed the nicknames you gave him and never really asked for otherwise.
You were walking down the streets of Japan with nothing better to do. You twospent the day walking in and out of different shops, just browsing. Searchingfor nothing in particular.
It was one of your spontaneous adventures that Rantaro loved so much.
Typically, you two kept the same pace and walked hand-in-hand, gazing aroundand dipping into all kinds of buildings. One in particular caught your eye though, and you started to take the lead and pull away.
Still firmly grasping your hand, he struggled to keep your pace as you pulledhim along.
“Look at this one, Rantaro!” You excitedly exclaim.
He stops in his tracks which causes you to stumbled back. Thankfully, he caughtyou in his arms as you leaned against his chest and looked up at him.
“Did I do something wrong?”
He shakes his head and smirks with a smug expression. “I like that, love… or should I call you (F/N)?”
Even when he was surprised, he kept the same calm, coolness to him. He wasrelatively hard to surprise as well, but he liked hearing his name come fromyour voice.
You smile, feeling relieved, and then peck his lips. He wraps his hand in yourhair to further the kiss. Once you pull away, he’s grinning. “Call me that moreoften.”
Kaito Momota
In this relationship, he’ll keep you on your toes. Kaito has a firey personality and wants to pass that passion onto you. He mayseem bold and tough, but he’s a sucker for cliché nicknames.
Whenever you called him by one, he melts inside.
He’s also not going to let you feel unmotivated or moved and will press you tobe the ‘Best you that you can be!’
Kaito convinces you to be his workout partner and will always motivate you. Itstarted with you just helping him with his sessions but you ended up with aroutine as well, with a lot of coaxing from your boyfriend.
“Come on, you can do this!” He continued to cheer. Though you’re not sure you really believe him, you give it your all and Kaitobecomes your number one supporter.
He had a weird habit of wanting to work out in the middle of the night and dragging you out of bed wasn’t necessarily ideal. But you do it anyway becauseyou love him.
Kaito shakes you awake in the middle of the night, placing kisses on your neckuntil it gets your attention. You stir awake and look at him throughhalf-sleepy eyes.
“Come on, babe! It’s that time again.” His voice is loud and booming; youwonder how anyone has this much energy in the middle of the night.
You try putting a pillow over your head and rolling back over but he isn’tgoing to let you off the hook that easily.
He shakes your shoulders again, growing more antsy as time passed. Eventually, you can’t take it anymore.
“No~ not tonight, Kaito. I need my beauty sleep,” you mumble.
He retracts his hand from your shoulder and goes silent. You peek at him fromunder the pillow and see a wide, toothy grin and childlike expression on hisface. Still dazed and half-asleep, you didn’t even realize what you had said.
It was still the start of your relationship so neither of you thought you wereat that point yet. But alas, he engulfs you in one giant hug and slips into bedbeside you.
“I guess I’ll let you have a pass… this time.” His voice is playful and hespends the rest of the night holding you as you fall back asleep peacefully inhis arm.
Korekiyo Shinguuji
He’s a pretty formal person so formal names are commonplace. He also thinks that the way you say his name is very sexy.
There was an unspoken rule between you two. Korekiyo doesn’t have a whole lotof relationship experience so he’s not entirely sure when to take you two tothe next level.
It was still early on so things weren’t that serious yet.
One of your favorite things was listening to him talk about culture and hisstudies. You could easily tell how interested and passionate he was and youloved watching him light up and go on tangents.
You’d be relaxing and just listen to him talk. His voice was so smooth andcalming that you could take a nap just listening to him. It was soothing andmade you feel at home.
He was talking about his favorite indigenous groups and how they should reallybe protected and preserved by modern-day civilization. Typically, that’s atopic that you’d find a bit boring, but Korekiyo made it sound so intriguing.
You were laying across his body with your head in his lap, meanwhile he was inan upright position. One of his hands was holding his book and the other wasstroking your hair.
Gazing up at him lovingly, a thought pops in your mind. “You are sointelligent, Korekiyo.”
He stopped speaking and pulled his mask back up to hide his face, mainlybecause he was blushing. His eyes fluttered close but his fingers remainedentangled in your hair. It didn’t fully register in your mind until you saidit, and you didn’t mean to – it was supposed to just stay in your head.
“I mean it.” You try covering it up, and it was rather cute when he gotflustered.
Korekiyo pulls his mask back down to reveal a wide grin. “Thank you, (Y/N).”His beautiful eyes lock with yours.
He gently sits you up in his lap and passionately kisses you. “I’m so glad Ihave someone like you.”
Nodding in agreement, you peck his lips one last time. It felt good to finallybe able to let your feelings out.
Gonta Gokuhara
He never really understood the whole ‘formal and informal’name thing, but from what he did know – it was a big deal.
You can’t blame him. His past and such did alter his perception of what he seesas ‘the real world.’
But you still used his surname since it’s what you’re used to and what you grewup around. He never seemed to mind and hardly noticed it. Although, he doesrefer to both you and himself by first name so he sometimes looks at youquizzically.
One day, he was trying to convince you to open up around his insects. However, you weren’t so receptive.
You loved Gonta to death but the bugs kind of crossed a line. You could dealwith some of the smaller ones with time, slowly getting used to the littleladybugs and such.
But the much… much larger spiders and cockroaches were a bit over the top.
Your boyfriend loved them and he wanted to be able to share his passion withyou, but you politely declined repeatedly.
He approached you with his hands behind his back. You were sitting at thekitchen counter with your nose in your phone when you caught him in the cornerof your eye.
Turning towards him with a bright smile, he leaned forward and kissed your lipssoftly. Then, Gonta announces “I have a surprise for (Y/N)!”
Not entirely knowing what to expect, you hope for the best and nod your head.Gonta proceeds to pull his hands out from behind his back and extend them towards you, so that they were mere inches from your face.
In his palms sat two fat hissing cockroaches.
You weren’t ready at all, leaping back and stumbling out of the chair whilst ascream escaped your lips. “Gonta don’t do that, please!”
His face seems hurt momentarily but is replaced with a smile. “You say… ‘Gonta’?That’s a good thing, right (Y/N)?”
It didn’t even occur to you what you said and a fit of nervous laughter camefrom your mouth. “That mean you like Gonta’s new friends?” He continues warmly.
“No thank you… Gonta.” You politely decline the offer but your face still has abright red blush, from both anxiety from the insects and embarrassment fromcalling him by his name.
Ryoma Hoshi
He’s a man who respects honor and tradition. Calling each other by your informal first name is a big step for him.
To Ryoma, it’s a commitment thing. He’s never been that comfortable withsomeone before, at least not a romantic partner, so he’s very hesitant atfirst.
He’s a bit more open to nicknames, in fact. He’s classy and old-school so hesticks with ‘Beautiful/Handsome’ and ‘Love’ for the most part.
You two enjoyed having deep and meaningful conversations about everything therewas talk about. It didn’t matter – love, the future, the universe, sex, yourpasts. Nothing was off limits. You loved the sound of one another’s voice andhearing your deepest thoughts.
He’s slipped and had to bite his tongue a few times in the past because he’sjust so used to you. It feels like he’s known you forever.
But he’s just not sure he’s at that point.
The act he puts on about him being some stone-cold, disheartened killercrumbles whenever you’re around and he can finally be his true self.
You two had been in a deep conversation about love and your relationship. Ittook him a while to just get comfortable enough with that ‘L’ word and up untilthis point, neither of you had said that, either.
But he was confident with his feelings and didn’t want to hold back anymore.
“I love you.” His voice is smooth and melodic. You turn to look at him, but hisface is shifted away and his eyes are pointed downwards, almost as if he’s toonervous to look at you. That’s the first time he’s said that to any of his partners.
“I love you too, Ryoma.”
His face is stiff for a moment. You never break away from looking at him, andhe turns his face back towards you. You’re now inches apart and he genuinely, seriously smiles for what feels like the first time in a while.
In this moment, he couldn’t be happier.

I read your Saiouma-Oumota dynamics comparison post and I wanted to say that the first time I played I thought Shuichi is more likely to understand/trust Kokichi than Kaito but on a rewatch/ reading liveblogs and meta, I realized the opposite is more likely. The funny thing is that my reason is the same: Shuichi overthinks all of Kokichi's words and actions while Kaito more likely thinks he's just being a brat and needs to stop messing around, as he so often says.(1/2)
Ah Anon, your asks were literally the first thing I read today and they honestly made my day
I assume that you’re talking about this post.
I totally agree with the points you make. I think a lot of it is connected with the fact that Kaito is actually a very intuitive person, while Shuichi depends a bit too much on reason. Kaito is a good judge of character and willing to give people a chance, even if it doesn’t always look like that because of how brash and impulsive he can be. I know that a lot of people see it as naive and even reckless to believe so much in people and that it partially stems from his insecurities and hero complex, but… he actually can be very perceptive sometimes? And this is where I think his intuition steps in. He probably doesn’t understand it himself sometimes and that’s why he can’t always defend himself very well when his faith in others is questioned. It’s like this gut feeling that is… usually right. So he might butt heads with Kokichi a lot, he might even act aggressively towards him at times, but ultimately he is willing to give Kokichi a chance. The thing that probably annoys him the most is that Kokichi acts like he doesn’t want that chance, which for someone like Kaito must be very frustrating and hard to understand. But if he only showed interest in doing so - Kaito would totally support him. With Kaito the biggest problem is probably that he wants to do things his way and here he would have to compromise.
I think that what you said about Kaito not pushing Maki into giving him details she might be uncomfortable with sharing is actually really interesting? Because on one hand he is a curious person and he might be even seen as someone who pushes people into being honest with him while he isn’t always that honest himself, but… the way I see it - he knows where to draw a line. Sure, he will push Kokichi into trusting him, into being a more honest person but he will respect his boundaries. It’s interesting because Kaito’s insistence on making people open up to him isn’t always totally selfless, but at the same time he genuinely cares. Sure, he does have a hero complex. And he kinda ‘uses’ his sidekicks to feel better about himself. But he also genuinely wants people to be better versions of themselves. And not for him - for themselves, so they are more open and more comfortable with who they really are. And it’s clear that Kokichi has a lot of issues and he hides behind the lies and childish behavior. And Kaito doesn’t necessarily understand the hows and whys, but instinctively knows that Kokichi can’t be happy the way he is.
….ok, this is getting long, more under the cut!
Shuichi, on the other hand, treats Kokichi like some kind of puzzle. Mystery. And he is a detective, he wants to solve mysteries, but with this kind of approach… I don’t think it’s really possible? Because Shuichi relies on facts and Kokichi isn’t willing to give him those facts. Maybe he would never be willing to give them for him, even if they had a chance to get to know each other better. Kokichi is a very private person after all. And the thing is… trust has to be earned. I feel like often both the game and the fandom portray the saiouma relationship as one in which Kokichi has to prove that he is worthy of Shuichi’s trust. But… honestly, what exactly did Shuichi do to deserve Kokichi’s trust? From Kokichi’s perspective? Or do we just automatically assume that he should have it because he is our player and the protagonist and we know that he’s the good guy? Because, you know, the same was true for Kaede and look where it got us. I mean, Shuichi outright lies in chapter four and it’s such an obvious lie, too, and yet everyone believes it only because it’s Shuichi. He rejects Kokichi when he wants to investigate the school with him. He immediately teams with Kaede even when she insists that they continue to try to escape, even though Kokichi actually makes a very good point. And I’m not saying that it makes Shuichi a bad person or that his relationship with Kokichi wouldn’t work out, no. From Shuichi’s perspective not trusting Kokichi makes a lot of sense. And since Kokichi’s behavior only gets worse it makes sense that he ultimately rejects him. But like I mentioned in the post that you’re referring to - Kokichi and Kaito argue the whole time but then at the end, they work together to end the killing game. With Shuichi the situation is exactly opposite - they have a pretty okay relationship and then Shuichi snaps when Kokichi’s mastermind act starts. It’s a totally personal opinion, so I understand that not everyone might agree with that, but I don’t think that Shuichi would really trust Kokichi if the roles were reversed and he ended up with him in the hangar instead of Kaito. There is a chance that he would work with Kokichi? I think? But he would have to know the entire plan and I’m not sure if he would be willing to die the way Kaito did, even if he had the disease. It is definitely an interesting concept though and I’d have to think about it more. I’ve seen fics that made this idea work and enjoyed them, but they always play out differently, so none of them ultimately dies and… well, that changes a lot.
Anyway, personally, I think that Shuichi is the kind of person who… doesn’t really understand other people well unless he is friends with them. And even then it takes him a while if his relationship with Kaede and even Kaito is any indication. And, again, there’s nothing wrong with that! But it does prevent him from having a closer bond with Kokichi and understanding him better, especially when Kokichi butts head with people that Shuichi cares about. Shuichi needs time to bond with people on an emotional level and needs to learn to care about them and the killing game scenario doesn’t really offer him that time, which is a shame.
The truth is that both saiouma and oumota are relationships that are… work in progress, I guess. All three characters have certain roles in the narrative and they can’t exactly escape them. And it’s crucial to remember that this is a killing game, which doesn’t really help to form strong and healthy relationships. Even Shuichi and Kaito’s relationship isn’t flawless, even though it’s the one that is probably the best developed and sincere in the entire game.
Also, I want it to be clear that this post isn’t necessarily about shipping! It’s more about certain dynamics that characters have that can apply both for platonic and romantic interactions between them. People who know me and follow my blog probably know that oumota is my OTP, but I also ship saiouma. Also, saioumota is my ultimate OT3, because I genuinely think that the three of them would have a good and balanced dynamic that would allow all three of them to grow.
Honestly, I could add so much more here, I am really happy that I received this ask because it’s a topic that I really like to discuss and find interesting!
Also, all of this is of course only my opinion, so you don’t have to treat it too seriously, it’s perfectly okay if you have a different interpretation of those characters and their relationships!
