Sleeping Together (Literally) Headcanons

Just some general fluff and sweet headcanons for Byakuya, Nagito, and Kokichi.

I had to get these out of my brain so I could work on kinktober fics

BYAKUYA TOGAMI

He has a nighttime routine so please don’t interrupt him, he has extremely little patience if you try.

Not one for cuddles (lies).

He will fall asleep as far away from you as possible.

He will wake up touching you in some way- an arm over your waist, your head on his chest, or even just legs touching

Don’t try to sleep in, that doesn’t fly with him.

No morning kisses, don’t even try.

Doesn’t snore, but does occasionally grunt or groan.

Blanket hog and will admit to it, this isn’t a battle you’ll win.

Will accept you guys sleeping with separate blankets to prevent this but it doesn’t prevent him waking up being close to you.

NAGITO KOMAEDA

Spending the night (or even just napping) with Nagito takes a while to work up to.

Be patient with him!  I promise he wants to sleep with you just as bad but he fears everything going wrong.

He will be stiff and nervous when you first get in bed next to him, he’s not uncomfortable he just… doesn’t know why you’re wanting to be in bed with him, surely you have other people you could be near.

You have to bring up cuddling him.

His body is cold, please use blankets and warm him up.

Has nightmares about his illness, he’ll tell you it’s fine and to not stay up with him but at least sit up with him for a few minutes.

Snores and knows it, please don’t bring it up.

You are free to get up when you want, but why would you want to?

He prefers to have you wrap an arm over him, put a leg over him, hold his hand, just do ANYTHING to remind him that he’s alive, that he’s with you.

Will eventually get more and more comfortable with you being in bed with him and will tease you over wanting to be so close to someone like him.  It’s all jokes, don’t take it too seriously.

KOKICHI OMA

No naptime cuddles, he gets too hot and uncomfortable.

His body is like a heater, blankets aren’t required unless it’s just a comfort thing for either of you.

He has to have the TV on, a song playing on his phone, SOMETHING- he will fall asleep with just a fan on but that takes a very long time.  Silence is a big no.

He will cuddle you, he prefers to be the big spoon regardless of your size.

That’s not to say he doesn’t like to be held while sleeping, but he’s got a reputation to maintain y’know

Will hold you as close and as tight as possible, good luck if you have to get up in the middle of the night.

This fucker snores and talks and due to his closeness, you will wake up.  This is unavoidable, please understand.

You aren’t sleeping in, the second he’s awake you have to be awake.

He’ll try to be good sometimes and let you sleep in, but he just doesn’t have the patience for you to sleep too long.  He’s not doing this to be a bastard, he just doesn’t comprehend how much time has passed.

If you wake up before him, you aren’t gonna be able to wake him up until he’s ready to.

A/N: Ahhhhh I love this man!!! 😖 I've been in a little rut for motivation lately ( mostly for Genshin ) so I've been scared to start on request out of fear of getting stuck and never finishing them.. I'm also not good with such broad topics as relationship headcanons so I'm sorry if this isn't satisfactory.. At least I tried, right? 😅

↪ When it comes to Kokichi and the topic of love, he sticks out his tongue and blows raspberries like a little kid because...ewwwww! Love is yucky and gross and full of cooties!

↪ That said, if you actually manage to catch the eyes and heart of this childish liar, you must really be special!

↪ When Kokichi likes someone, it's like being held at gunpoint by a maniac who's gun is made out of cotton candy; harmless, but overwhelming and annoying.

↪ Contrary to popular belief, Kokichi does have a heart. He cares about his friends deeply, and although he doesn't show it, will do the craziest things for them, even if it ends with them despising him for doing so.

↪ That said, I don't imagine him with some mysterious, colder person. I also don't see him with someone who he'd view as a threat to his friends like Maki or someone as cutthroat and self-centered as Byakuya. I imagine him falling for someone more empathetic. Someone who's known him for some time. Who's maybe a bit shy or pours their heart out over the littlest things. Or, maybe someone who's simply kind and honest. Someone predictable, but down-to-earth and friendly, but I digress.

↪ Even with his crush, I don't see him pursuing it whether he was apart of the killing game or not. It's mostly because he fears it as it's a rather foreign topic that requires openness and honesty; two things he isn't comfortable giving to someone—even a close friend.

↪ That doesn't stop his body from reacting the way it does towards you, however! He can't help but yearn for attention at times no matter how much he fights, so I definitely see him in your face and never leaving you be sometimes.

↪ The way he treats you would be as different as two salt grains, but at the same time, as contrasting as his black and white scarf. He'll tease you as he does everyone else, he'll pick on you like he does with the others as well, and he's not above doing things that you may find cruel, but the level at which he takes it would be noticeably ( or possibly unnoticeably ) different from what it is with the others. Not so low that it's obvious and he looks like some simp who can't so much as tell you that you have lettuce in your teeth out of fear that it'll hurt your feelings, but it will never be as high as how he acts towards Maki or Kaito. Well, not unless you like to be talked to like that.

↪ That moves us to my second thing I see him doing which is indulge you. Similar to Miu, who gets off on degradation, he doesn't care for what gets you going really and he doesn't mind doing whatever if it makes you feel good. You like to be praised over the simplest things? He doesn't mind throwing out a cheesy comment randomly to fluster you and then immediately change the topic. You, for some reason, like it when he's a little mean? When he immediately claps back at something you say? He can do that. Anytime. Anywhere. And he will and then quickly follow up with his usual antics as if it never happened.

↪ But I'm getting ahead of myself. Realistically, I don't see him dating someone, but if he does then they'd have to be really, really special to him. Like someone special enough that his love for them outweighs his anxieties and fears of the worst happening. Someone who he's known for so long that his trust issues won't get the better of him when imagining a relationship with them.

↪ A relationship with him, though, wouldn't be as different as a friendship with him which isn't the best in some ways. He's still a teasing little shit who lies about even the littlest things and is constantly flipping between extreme emotions and downplaying them so significantly that you can't take them seriously.

↪ Don't expect to have any kind of heart to heart with this man. You could pour your heart out to him, tell him some deep ( and possibly dark ) secret about yourself or tell him about a thought or insecurity or incident about yourself that you haven't told even your most trusted companion and he will absolutely not return the favor. He's too used to keeping everything bottled up inside and hiding behind this facade of lies and trickery that showing even a little of his true colors makes him very uncomfortable.

↪ He isn't exactly affectionate. Kisses, hugs, holding hands.. Stuff like that usually only occurs when he's teasing you or trying to get a rise out of you. It's never a genuine action that'll stems from his desires and he'll make sure it never does.

↪ You can never tell what's going through his head even in his most 'vulnerable' moments—if you can even call them that. He's always changing, always saying the most absurd things, always saying the opposite of what he's thinking to ensure that you're thrown completely off his trail and can never read him. To put it simply, he's constantly putting iron barricades between you two.

↪ He can come off as heartless or emotionally tone deaf at times because of this. You could come crying to him or express a deep insecurity of his and it'd seem as though he's not taking you seriously or has completely brushed off your problems which can be seriously depressing and disheartening.

↪ That leads us to arguments, which always feels as if you're screaming at a clown. Kokichi is not one to let his true emotions get the better of him so 99% of your arguments will leave you even more frustrated and upset as when whatever made you argue first surface because it seems like everything you say is being taken as some joke or comedy act.

↪ What a relationship with him needs is time. A lot of it. Kokichi has grown up in an environment that has turned him into someone who physically can't let down his walls, who assumes the worst will happen to him or the people he cares about if he gets too close with someone he can't read like a book at all times ( and even people he can read like that ), someone who can be fighting an unimaginably tough battle—one so intense that it could drive anyone insane—and you'd never be able to tell due to how good he hides it. Time can chip away at all of that, albeit very slowly.

↪ With the right amount of patience, with the right amount of time and the right amount of energy and persistence from his partner, they'll make headway with him eventually. When they do, the change it'll cause will be as big as a baby ant, but it'll be a change nonetheless.

↪ He'll start mixing the tiniest, most insignificant levels of truths into his lies and his partner will have to accept that and let him know that, "Hey! I see that you're trying as hard as you can and I'll wait as long as needed for you to go further!"

↪ Don't try and force progress because it'll leave you being farther away from your goal. When he walks, you walk. When he tethers between taking that next step, you stay put until he decides what he'll do. If he goes backwards, you take a step back as well. That's the only way you're getting anywhere with him.

↪ And with all that effort, you'll get somewhere..eventually. ..Hopefully. I don't really know. When it comes to Kokichi, he could make you believe and feel as though you've made unimaginable progress only to do something completely left field that'll force the enormous gap between you two to become apparent.

↪ Basically what I'm saying is that he's more fragile than you'd imagine so be gentle with him! ..But don't let him catch onto it or else he'll panic and push you away out of fear of breaking what's already cracking apart. You need to be to tend to the glass that is his mind and body, caress it like you would a nasty bruise and don't ever put pressure on it, otherwise he'll shatter and you'll never be able to put him back together again ( nor will he let you try ).

Note: I tried my best to keep the time setting as vague as possible. So, it has no spoilers for the game.

"What?"

"Oh, he has the Despair Disease. That's why, i-"

"No, i heard what you said. It's just- Are you telling me that you knew but didn't do anything?"

Miu parts her lips to speak up, yet words don't come up. She awkwardly averts her gaze, as if hoping you'd drop the fact that she, infact, doesn't care.

You sigh, rubbing the crook of your nose. It's only been a while of you locking yourself in your room to plan a way for you and the others to exit the game, if it is even possible. Yet, somehow, Kokichi follows your step, locking himself in his room, refusing anyone to let them in. Not because he's plotting an escape plan. But because he's sick.

You only just finally opened the door of your room to go to grab a drink. Coincidentally, Miu noticed you and approached you, giving you a heads up about Kokichi's status.

"Wha- Whatever, I'm just here to tell you. Since he's your boyfriend or something," Miu makes sure you see her crossing her arms before walking away, leaving you frustrated at the lack of their attention to Kokichi.

You watch as Miu disappear from the dormitory, perhaps to the gym or whatever. You couldn't care less. Like how they did to Kokichi.

You don't waste any time and hurry, practically running to Kokichi's bedroom even if it's not that far from yours.

You stare at his door for a while before knocking, "Hey. It's me. I heard the news. Can i come in?"

It's quiet. Too quiet. He would've been grinning and trying to get under your skin by now. Something like, "Oh, what's this? You're so worried about me. You're in love with me, huh? I can tell."

But, no. Even if how badly you want him to annoy you, he's not responding. You wait and waited. A minute or two had passed, perhaps. Yet, at least, you hear faint sounds coming from the other side of the door. It sounds like... Something heavy getting dragged. You start getting worried, which is why you knock a few times again.

"Hey? Kichi? Are you there? Is everything alr-"

Before you know it, there he is, the Ultimate Supreme Leader, opening the door. He's the same like always. Well, except the messy hair, eyebags, and... tired hollow eyes.

You waste no time to reach to him, cupping both of his cheeks gently as he blankly stares at you. The door opens wider, giving you a clear sight of his messier bedroom.

"Hey, did you eat?"

He doesn't respond, at all. Instead, he sighes softly, shutting his eyes and leaning onto your touch. It's quite a shock to see him like this. The normal Kokichi would laugh and refuse to let you see his weakness. But here he is now, wanting more of your affection.

"... Where have you been?" He mumbles, his voice is kind of muffled yet you could make out what he's trying to say. His voice is quite raspier than usual. Perhaps it's because of the disease. "I miss you."

You try your best to ignore the last statement, dismissing it as a side effect of the disease.

"You don't remember? I'm just having some me-time. It's good for me, especially at a time like this," You smile at his purple eyes, the ones that you adore so badly, glancing back at yours.

You don't really want anyone to know that you're planning to escape with them. Plans will get destroyed if more people know about it. It will be better if it's kept hidden.

Unfortunately, Kokichi, who is more sensitive now, takes it the wrong way.

"... I knew you'll get bored of me any time soon," He whispers hoarsely, yet loud enough for you to hear. "Am i that boring?"

Wow. You asked Miu for more informations about the Despair Disease, yet she didn't give you much. You didn't really have time to ask others as well. But, is this what Despair Disease could do to your mental state?

Even if his tone is weak and disappointed, yet he still clings onto your figure, making you support his weight, not caring whether he'll fall now. As if he trusts you enough.

The Kokichi you know would never say what's on his mind, genuinely. He'll speak in riddles or even say the opposite and you have to figure it all out on your own. And again, here he is, speaking clearly.

You need to get used to this side of him, otherwise you'll start prefer him to tease you again like how he usually does.

"... Let's just get inside, alright? Let's get you to bed. We don't want anyone to see you at this state, right?" You whisper softly to him as you pat his back gently, gesturing him to start walking to his bed.

He nods faintly. Yet as soon as you try to pull away, he trips. You catch him in time, though. Finally, you figured out that earlier, the two minutes he took to open his door, is him crawling on the floor to open it.

God, you feel so bad.

You give him a small reassuring smile as you rest his arm around your shoulder. Your arm holds his waist gently, beginning to help him walk to his bed slowly yet steady.

He never really said anything, but you figured he thank you silently. Or perhaps he's just too tired to say anything. If that's the case, then he really gave his all to blurt words to you back then.

As you lay his thin figure onto his bed gently, you make sure the pillow is fluffy enough, giving it a little preparation. Kokichi watches as you tucks him in under the blanket. You notice the way his breath hitches as you pull away. Is he afraid that you'll leave him again?

Yet, you never will. You shift to sit at the side of the bed, giving him a small smile as you rub his chest gently to give him a sense of comfort. Something he never really felt until he met you. Even at a time like this. Well, not that you'll know.

It's been a while of him staring back at you in silence. He's sick. Of course he acts differently than the usual. You figured it would be best to stay quiet, as well.

Actually, you're getting quite used to this state of his. His calm state. Well, he's been calm, yes. But, when he's not trying to gouge reactions of others. When he's not trying to get their attention by saying something off-putting.

Kokichi, the usual trickster, being not afraid to show you who he really is, is quite sweet. You could always tell that he has a special liking towards you. You're the most frequent one to get annoyed by him. Not because he hates you. But, because he likes your reaction more than anyone's. Who'd care for the other's reactions if he could see yours?

He'd never admit it, but he's quite at ease if he's beside you. At your side. With you.

Breaking the silence, he parts his lips, "I'm hungry."

Oh, so now he's hungry. You never really think about how he's been when he's without you around. Does he starve himself because he doesn't trust anyone but you?

"Come to think of it, you didn't answer my question earlier."

"Which one...?"

"The one about whether you ate or not today, dear."

"... I dunno. Forgot," He averts his gaze, his cheeks slightly redden. Luckily enough for him, you didn't notice it.

You smile, gritting your teeth as you try your absolute best to hide the fact that you're rather furious. Not at him, of course. To them who don't care about him. The others.

"What?" You asked, your focus remained on the tiny blocks infront of you. Three hours of reading instructions and stacking brick upon brick.

"I can't Kokichi...I wanna finish this before dinner..." You sighed, turning the page on the instruction manual.

It took almost double the time it took you to get to your previous point.

Kokichi kept placing the pieces in the wrong spots...hiding the most important of them around the living room...threatening to shake the structure again...
