Being a single dad at 29 was not on Rafe’s bingo card.

When the girl he was regularly hooking up with sent him the positive pregnancy test he laughed at the image. There was no way she was being serious. SUre he didn’t like to use condoms but he pulled out and she said she was on birth control. There was no way in hell that she was actually pregnant.

Then she sent him a sonogram picture with her holding it up in the doctor's office. He was honestly fucked. At first he tried to play it off like it wasn’t his. Saying she must have been sleeping with others. But when she didn’t protest a paternity test he started to think she was telling the truth. Then nine months flew by and his baby boy was born. The moment he laid eyes on him he knew that was his son. The paternity test just confirms it.

It only took a week for her to run off leaving a note saying she wasn’t ready to be a mom. As if he was ready to be a dad. It took a lot of trial and error to get into a routine. He wanted to rip his hair out everytime he woke up in the middle of the night due to crying. But once again he would look in his eyes and he couldn’t. He’s learned a lot from being a father over the last three years.

He’s become more patient with others which is completely different from who he used to be. Not to mention he seems to actually have a heart. The mean old Rafe Cameron is now a gentle dad. But don’t get him wrong, he would fuck up anyone who messed with his son. That’s why he was worried when he was forced to put Felix in daycare shortly after his third birthday. 

Rafe got lucky having two younger sisters who were willing to watch him along with friends. But over time it became impractical to rely on them to watch Felix. They all had their own lives and couldn’t spend hours on end with the child. That led to Rafe signing him up at Happy Bee’s, one of the best daycares in Kildare. That’s where Felix has been spending his days for almost a year. It seems to be doing good for him. Felix seems to have friends that he wouldn’t stop blabbering about. But then one person always on the little boy's mind is you.

If Rafe has to hear about you one more time he might bash his head into a wall. 

“Daddy wook! Miss help me.” That’s what Felix calls you, Miss. Maybe that’s what you had the kids call you or maybe Felix just doesn’t like saying your name. Everything is always Miss this or Miss that. The other day Felix refused to eat his veggies, making a disgusted face. “C’mon bud you gotta eat them.” Rafe’s trying to shovel them into his mouth but Felix moves his head. “No. Miss doesn’t make me.” Rafe’s eye twitches at the mention of your nickname. “Well I’m not Miss, I’m dad. Which means what I say go’s, now eat your veggies.” 

For ten months Rafe has heard how you don’t make him do this or you let him do that. He honestly had enough after Feliz threw a tantrum so he didn’t have to go to bed. The following day he went into the center ready to have Felix switched to another worker. But as he was waiting for the director to talk to him he watched as you interacted with the kids. They all seemed to love you, hanging on to every word you said.

Then there was his little boy.

Felix clung to you like velcro. Wherever you went he followed close behind, holding on the back of your shirt. Not once did you get mad or pull him off of you. In fact you got the kids sentled with ease like it was second nature. In his 32 years of life he has never seen someone be so natural with kids. What really got him was seeing you read to Felix. His baby boy was curled in your lap with your arms wrapped around him. If he didn’t know any better it would look like a mother with her son.

He just watches as Felix babbles to you and you can’t help but seem excited. You effortlessly make him laugh and it’s mesmerizing. “Mr. Cameron. You wanted to see me.” The director is standing in front of him now but he keeps staring at you. “Actually I changed my mind. I’ll see you at pick up.” With that he got up and walked out the building with a sense of determination.

At pick up he waited until all of the kids were gone before going to get Felix. “Hi sorry my meeting ran late.” He apologizes to you, liking the way you smile up at him. “Hey buddy, how was your day?” Felix jumps in his arms, giving him a big hug before looking at you. “Made drawings.” Rafe looks at you with an amused look which you match. “He was a real picasso. You should be proud, you got a good one.” 

Your voice is soft, making you seem more approachable. “I’m Rafe. Don’t think we’ve really met.” You shake his hand telling him your name. “I was actually wondering something.” Rafe examines your features waiting to see your reaction. “Is everything all right Mr. Cameron?” Your eyes stare up at him and they look so innocent. You have to be young, if he’s guessing maybe 19 or 20. 

“Yeah but I wanted to offer you a better position. Come work for me. Felix is obsessed with you and I think you’d be good for him.” You’re taken back by his request. “I’m sorry Mr. Cameron but I can’t just leave my job.” The next excuse is ready to fly out of your mouth but it stops when you hear his voice. “Rafe, call me Rafe. I’ll triple your pay and you can move into the guest bedroom.”

Triple pay and a free room? This is a great deal and you don’t know if you should turn it down. You do need the money as you help your parents with your younger siblings. Not to mention you really love Felix. The boy is like your shadow and you’ve grown fond of him. His little eyes stare at you as if he’s waiting for your answer as well. His blue eyes are a perfect match to his fathers. But you think Rafe has specks of gold in them, making them even more beautiful.

“Why me?” Rafe shifts Felix to the other side of him. “He won’t stop talking about you. I want the best care for him. You wouldn’t be able to do that while watching other kids, so here’s my solution.” Lie. He wants to see you in his house. He wants to come home to see you playing with his son, greeting him from his long day of work. The more he thinks about it the more he believes this is for himself. Looking at you he knows this is for himself more than Felix.

You were rummaging through Felix’s bag trying to find the snacks that he likes. He’s been getting fidgety and maybe a snack would help keep him occupied. “Don’t worry about it. We can just go to the restaurant down the street. He gets food and time to relax.” You let out a sigh feeling bad that you may have forgotten to pack the snacks. “I swore I packed them before we left.”

You keep moving things around hoping they’ll pop up. “Daddy, eat.” Felix’s little voice grapes your attention. Giving up, you sling the bag over your shoulder again. Rafe picks him up, kissing the top of his head as he throws an arm around your shoulder. “I know bud. We’re going to go eat right now, right?” He looks at you so you could agree. Ever since then there’s been an energy around the two of you. It’s like the wall you two kept up were starting to crumble. Rafe was constantly texting you when he was actually in the office instead of working from home. Letting you know that he missed you and Felix or saying he can’t wait to go home to the two of you. Every message made you feel butterflies that didn’t help you stay neutral. You really hit your breaking point three days away. 

Rafe had worked late today and Felix was already in bed. When you put him to bed he was already half asleep. But when you were closing the door you heard him call out to you. “Night mommy. Love you.” You had been thinking over the words when Rafe got home. He had found you in the kitchen, leaning over the counter with your back to him as you ate ice cream. “Hey. Sorry the meeting ran late so everything was pushed back.” He loosens up his tie, taking it off expecting you to answer but you don't.

He walks up behind you, his hands finding your hips. “What’s wrong baby?” The close proximity would normally send tingles down your spine but it isn’t. “Felix called me mom today.” Rafe freezes behind you for a second. He knew that his son loved you but he didn’t realize how deep that love actually went. It’s honestly not like he didn’t see it coming. But how does it make you feel?” His eyes are closed, enjoying being this close to you. They called me this morning and I can’t pass up this deal.” You just nodded, grabbing the extra prepared plate to eat yourself. 

“Well I guess it’s just you and me, little man.” The rest of breakfast was awkward. Rafe was trying to talk to you but you only focused on Felix. Then after Rafe said his goodbyes. “Bye buddy I’ll see you when I get back.” Felix hugged him tight before running off, leaving the two of you alone. “I swear I didn’t know about this last night.” You crossed your arms. “It’s fine I get it.” Rafe winces at your tone, not liking how it didn’t sound like you. 

He grabbed your waist pulling you closer. “Promise when I get back I’ll make it up to you. Take care of our boy. I’ll see you in a few days.” He pecked your lips before getting his bag and leaving. Our boy. You may be sad that he’s leaving you for a few days but how can you be upset? He just implied Felix was your boy and you couldn’t be happier. Guess you’ll just have to wait for him.

Today has been a long day. Felix had cried all day asking for his daddy, wanting to seek comfort in Rafe. The next room he checks is his. Sometimes Felix will sneak into his room and cuddle him to fall back asleep. He expected to see him there but when he didn’t he started to panic. Rushing to your room, he swings the door open, freezing when it does.

Heathers Producer Remembers Young Shannen Doherty as a 'Spitfire' on Set: 'A Little Bulldozer' (Exclusive)

"She had some of the best lines in the movie, and she did such a great job," producer Denise Di Novi tells PEOPLE of Doherty, who died on July 13 at age 53

Shannen Doherty made quite the impression on Heathers producer Denise Di Novi.

In a conversation with PEOPLE ahead of her first-ever art exhibition, Di Novi recalls how the late Doherty was "a budding broadcast TV star" when she came in to do a reading for Heathers, the 1989 teen cult classic in which she famously played Heather Duke.

"I don't think she quite knew what she was getting into," says the filmmaker, 68, noting that the movie featured "such an odd script, especially for the time" — especially compared to projects Doherty had done up until that point like Little House on the Prairie.

But that didn't last long. As Di Novi explains, "Then she got so into it ... she was smart as a whip and had been acting a lot, and she just really got into that very specific dialogue."

"She had some of the best lines in the movie, and she did such a great job," Di Novi continues. "She's just this little, tiny spitfire."

For the painter and producer, Doherty, who died at age 53 on July 13, was one of a group of "a few people that are just born with a certain spirit," and embodied it from an early age.

"They don't have to mature into it — they just kind of have that, whatever it is," Di Novi adds. "She had so much presence for such a tiny person. ... And even at 15 years old, she just came in and was like a little bulldozer."

Doherty's longtime publicist Leslie Sloane confirmed the Beverly Hills, 90210 star's death in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE on July 14.

"It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty," she said. "On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease."

Two days after Doherty's death, her Heathers costar Lisanne Falk shared a tribute on social media that included clever references to the film.

"If her portrayal of Heather Duke were to serve as her epitaph, I, for one, as the last remaining Heather would think it more than sufficient," wrote Falk, 59. "Certainly no one else could have landed the line: ‘Veronica, why are you pulling my dick?’ like Shannen did."

She also referenced the death of her and Doherty's costar Kim Walker at age 32 back in 2001, writing, "Tragically, Heather Chandler never had the chance to reflect, and now Heather Duke was interrupted just as she was clearing her throat."

"If it is Heather McNamara’s fate to have the last word for the Heathers, then let it be this: It’s been an honor to occupy our own little patch of the zeitgeist, together as one, out here on the fringe, where all the cool kids hang, a cult classic," Falk continued.

"Thank you, Heather. And Heather. ❤️💚💛," she added, using heart emojis in the signature colors of her, Walker and Doherty's croquet-loving characters. "May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest, Shannen. You always had the balls, didn’t you? For better or worse, no more pulling your dick."

Obsidian and River are best of best friends (like us <3) what are some other best friend pairs either in the auraverse or thirdverse

I’m so glad you asked this bestie ❤️ There are a number of best friend pairs in the Auraverse especially, some which I’ve explored before but others that I’m very excited to introduce to you all hopefully in the coming year! There are plenty of pairings that start out as best friends and later become lovers (Seaweed and Shamrock, Tea/Violet/Rosie, etc.) but for this I’ll focus on the purely platonic pairs. Which include:

Iolite and Aurora Borealis, who have supported each other through a lot of emotionally difficult times, of which I still have plenty more to show you all

Yngvlid and Polished Antique, one of her first friends in Equestria who she’s still very much in touch with

Erudite Spell and Swift Valor, but especially when they were kids before their lives and careers got in the way of them hanging out more often

River Morganite and Obsidian, who you’ve already mentioned but I felt I should still add to the list. Fashion besties since fillyhood, and their kids are close too!

River Morganite, Stockholm, and Yngvlid, since both gals are fellow fashion lovers who have helped River with so much of her activism and helped her through some pretty rough periods. Stockholm has the extra benefit of being her future sister-in-law!

Brazen Plumage and Tea Cake, though their friendship is more like a big sister and little sister!

Cheddar Changa and Plum Pastry, who are not only best friends but career partners—since before they even had a career

Astor Anomaly, Prophecy, and Milkweed, our resident witch trio ✨

As you can see, some characters have multiple best friends! Each friendship is just so different that it’s sometimes impossible to rank one as significantly “better” than all the others.

Stockholm and Triple Threat, who are cousins-in-law but also have a lot to bond over beyond that connection. They not only have a mutual love of theater and fashion, but are also each other’s biggest supporters as each of them birth and raise some extra magical quadruplets!

Triple Threat and her Old Lady Squad, who aren’t “best friends” to her in the same manner that a friend her age would be, but are very close mentors who mean just as much to her

Bumblebee and Astor Anomaly, another pair of Pillar offspring who have less in common when it comes to personality but are still there for each other whenever they need it most

There are also some friend pairs, some of which you know about and some of which you have yet to see, that are sadly doomed to not last

Stockholm and Saltwater Taffy

Flurry Heart, Blueberry Sticks, and Red Cedar (even though they never really liked each other)

Trailblazer and most of her wrestling team guys

Aura and ??? (not just the Toxic Quad)

Plus there are plenty of other Auraverse bestie pairs I’m excited to show you, like Stockholm and Erudite Spell, and Indigo Sprint and a new character named Electric Dawn!

As for the Thirdverse, I have fewer friend pairs established both because the cast is smaller and because so much of the story is family-focused. But I do have a few planned, like Sunny Sweet Dreams and Candied Apple, who met through a peer mentoring program, and Laffy Taffy and her friend group. I have a few ideas for other characters who could have best friends, but I’m still planning things out!

- nepeta. i think terezi introduced them but they get along well! at least before aradia fuckin dies lmao...... i do think thats part of why aradia was always gonna have nepeta as her server player tho. she knew nepeta was trustworthy ❤️ also nepeta is definitely in the 'knows aradia enough to be worried about her but doesnt actually know what happened' crew w sollux and probs karkat

- kanaya. ruins buds and skaia clouds! i think sollux brought them together technically but they developed a solid working relationship p quickly. i also think kanaya probably thinks aradia is REALLY COOL lmao. but doesnt let on

- terezi. flarp buds!!!! mm im gonna say these two met on flarp forums as kids and were the ones to bring team charge and team scourge together (two already existing teams). terezi wanted a nice friendly battle for once and aradia was happy to meet rivals who wouldnt look down on them for being lowbloods maybe? but then uh. vriska. anyway this is why we get the aradia and terezi somewhat close relationship we see hehe. terezi taking responsibility for bringing vriska to the group and such

- vriska. lmaoooo. brought together by flarp and terezi, probably didnt get along v well...... p much right away. i think aradia probably TRIED to be friends w her for a while and vriska wasnt as tough on her as she was to tavros (since aradia can wreck her shit alone lmao) but eventually enough was enough (which we all saw in canon)

- equius. vriska (who was weird enough) introduced her weird neighbor to the group (probably bc of some favor she owed him). aradia doesnt think about him much, equius apparently dreamed of dancing w her under the moonlight

- gamzee. tavros's weird..... slam poetry friend??/tavros's bitchin flarp sister. she doesnt like to interact w him much but shes happy tavros is branching out and making more friends! gamzee miiiight have flashes of getting weirdly territorial about tavros towards her idk

- eridan. vriska (already an asshole) introduced her asshole kismesis to the group (probably trying to pawn his attention off onto someone else). iiiii dont think these two would interact much, and if they did eridan would be an ass to her and aradia would treat him like the loser he is

- feferi. LMFAO. they know each other vaguely through eridan ig??? anyway i think aradia is p much the only one to clock INSTANTLY that feferi's about as classist as eridan in many ways. like aradia fucking HATES her we see it in openbound. it only has a little bit to do w her flirting w aradias bf!!! meanwhile feferi, local classist, barely remembers aradia exists sometimes

- sollux. know each other through aradia obviously, probably get along well enough but give each other a bit of a 'you stay in your lane ill stay in mine' vibe. which i think works for them!

- karkat. met through the aradia and sollux pipeline, karkat latched onto their friendship w the fire of a thousand suns, etc. tavros is a little weirded out by that intensity but i think he also kinda likes the concept! which is why i think he texts karkat when hes paralyzed by vriska...... unfortunately he caught karkat in the middle of his 'oh fuck i gotta tone down my passion and act Cool TM' phase :(

- nepeta. yeah they get along great! met through terezi i think but nepeta really integrated herself in the flarp crew pretty quickly imo. tavros wishes they could play more games together i think but between equius and his paralysis thats difficult :(

- kanaya. iiiii dont think they know each other that well. which is the main way i can justify kanayas reactions to the vriska and tavros things. i think by the time they started talking the full group was pretty well in swing, rather than it being a daisy chain of connections, so no one in particular introduced them. kanaya cares about him tho and tries to help in multiple instances throught the story

- terezi. flarp buds!!! met through aradia ish but they get along p well. i dooo think tavros has a period of being moderately terrified by BOTH scourge sisters but he learns quickly enough that terezi is all bark and no bite. meanwhile terezi considers him a friend and therefore Off Limits for vriska...... supposedly

- vriska. lots going on here. however theyre both part of the original flarp buds group..... i wonder if there was a time when their relationship was a little better? like, vriska was still vriska but i wonder if she wasnt AS actively horrible to him before he started branching out to other friends and realizing he didnt have to put up w her shit. i feel like shed react to an old friend drifting away from her pretty toxically.....

- equius. vriska's neighbor intro, but also potentially in the slam poetry forums lmfao. like tavros and gamzee talked w him a few times online and were both like 'actually this guy's kinda awful lets ghost him' and then a few months later vriska introduces her neighbor to the flarp group and tavros is like ITS HIM. tavros is in the worried about nepeta bc of equius crew

- gamzee. slam poetry buds!! i think tavros is not AS into gamzee as gamzee is into him but i do think they get along :3 well enough that tavros introduced him to the group. i think tavros was probably relieved when gamzee started hanging out w karkat more though.... 100% of gamzee's attention is a Lot

- eridan. they dont get along lmaooo. tavros has him in the same category as equius as 'vriskas asshole highblood friends' and tries to avoid him. eridan probably tried to hit on him a couple times before getting pissy bc tavros was NOT interested and going 'i never liked him anyway'

- feferi. also one of vriskas asshole highblood friends but like. the nice one? i think theyve probably not talked much but tavros has come away from it w the impression that shes pretty nice, if a little eccentric. feferi thinks hes sweet but finds his quirk annoying i think lmaooo

- karkat. passion and suns etc etc etc. they met through coding forums and i think karkat just kept annoying sollux about his code questions bc sollux was nice to him one (1) time. however sollux does genuinely like him :) they were each others first friend in the group, and sollux is the one to introduce karkat to everyone else. good buds! even tho they complain about each other

- nepeta. okay so i think sollux is a little less than interested in roleplaying games and mostly puts up w it for aradias sake. and unfortunately this opinion does not extend to nepeta, the mascot of larping. meanwhile nepeta thinks hes no fun akshdhsh. theyre nice to each other when they talk dont get me wrong they just. would not seek each other out for anything lmaooo

- kanaya. sollux i think was also kanaya's first friend in the group, but this happens AFTER most of the larger group has already started talking; i think kanaya joined the group pretty late (attributing this to her kinda naïve way of thinking about vriska). i think she saw his trollian in a dream and messaged him out of the blue to talk about the ruins and skaia and stuff alshdhdhh. i think he pretty quickly shuffled her over to aradia like 'here, crazy meet crazy' but they DO continue to get along. hes also her it guy and hes less mad about it w her than most other ppl imo

THEYRE FRIENDS. between the two of them theyre popular within the entire group, which is probably why theyre the ones who get sgrub started. i think sollux was a little 'flarper? how cringe' towards terezi for like five seconds but then she started talking about gaming (shes a gamer! she likes games other than (f)larping!) and he was like 'oh shit shes really cool actually.' they get along really well

- vriska. hmm i think he already didnt like her very much (found her pretty annoying) and then later all he knows is that aradia is Different Now and all anyone will tell him is that its vriskas fault. so hes got a pretty fuckin low opinion of her. kinda pissed we never saw a vriska and sollux fight tbh. anyway i think vriska (insane person) resents the attention sollux gets from aradia sometimes and also doesnt like him v much. she wants ALLLLLLLL the attention!!!!!!!!

- equius. honestly i dont think theyd have any interest in each other. like i just dont think theyve talked much. i do however think that sollux has had to scrape viruses out of equius's computer on more than one occasion and that has not left him w a high opinion of equius......

- gamzee. iiiiii think theyre mainly chill w each other? they mainly talk about karkat probably, once the karkat/gamzee codependent friendship has started to develop, taking some of the weight off of the karkat/sollux and gamzee/tavros codependencies. sollux might think gamzee's a little weird but he's happy that he makes karkat happy :)

- eridan. lmfaooooo boys ur spades crushes are showing. they have NEVER gotten along (tho that was probs heavily intensified when sollux and feferi started having their thing). sollux thinks he's a huge jerk and eridan thinks he's a lower life form. but both in a kinda hot way akdhhdhdhdh. messy messy

- feferi. i think as soon as they met through the daisy chain and whatnot feferi has been a little sweet on him teehee. potentially bc of ancestor stories???? idk we never get confirmation one way or another of what feferi knows about the ancestors but she seems like the type to be interested in them. anyway for SOME REASON she was the only one willing to listen when sollux wanted to complain about aradia (after she fuckin dies lmao) so i think they were growing steadily closer even before the game and the feferi/eridan breakup. just like..... quietly

- everyone. necessary for him bc its just a default that karkat has latched on to all of his friends w the passion of a thousand burning suns. thats just who he is here's the catch all

- nepeta. we know she has her crush on him; i think they were probably introduced to the larger group around the same time and he was probably really nice to her akdhhdhd. i think shes also emotionally intelligent enough to recognize his less nice behavior for what it is: fronting to blend in w the cooler kids (vriska, sollux, terezi). on the other half, he really doesnt mind talking to her bc shes one of the few trolls that doesnt scare him much :3 tho HE is emotionally intelligent enough to recognize her crush on him and that makes him a lil uncomfortable :/ in another world theyd be REALLY good friends

- kanaya. youre my mom! boogie woogie woogie woogie. sollux introduces them and kanaya is struck by a crippling need to fuss over him like a child akdhdhdh. karkat likes her bc he finds her more reasonable than 90% of their other friends. theyve got a really close relationship that is DIFFICULT to define in troll terms, and they also talk romance novels together ❤️ even if theyre not huge fans of each others tastes hahaha. also: queer kids solidarity

- terezi. teehee they liiiiike each otherrrrr. uhh i think karkat has been into her for longer, like pre revenge cycle, and then after everything that happened w that she was REALLY SICK of ppl like vriska and latched onto him as like. the nicest sweetest guy she knows who is also conveniently really into her. not to say her feelings for him arent real; they very much are! she's genuinely really attracted to the adorable guy he is. buuuut he's a bit of a rebound for her rip

KARKAT WANTS TO BE HER SOOOO BAD LMAOOO. he never will be theyre v different ppl but she's got ALL of terezi's attention and she's also a very traditionally impressive troll so he tries to imitate her a lot. doesnt work v well tho bc hes like. not a jerk, and he has some lines he wont cross. vriska i think didnt really think about him much until terezi started paying attention to him? and then she was a little resentful of him but never really saw him as a threat. secretly i think she respects his ppl skills :3

- equius. man karkat is the LEADER of the 'hey we should be worried about nepeta being w this guy' club and equius has similar opinions towards him tbh so they dont really get along? and yet karkat would still die for him bc he's like that. and canonically, equius would die for him too! they dont like each other really tho

- gamzee. theyre besties o-(-( tavros probably introduced them and like..... i think gamzee really latched onto karkats whole unconditional love and friendship vibe and does his best to reciprocate :,) theyre both really intense friends so the other trolls are a little glad that theyve latched onto each other like they did. theyre good for each other!!

- eridan. i think when they FIRST became friends they were talking to EACH OTHER about romance problems and things a lot, not quite so one sided as we see in sgrub. karkat was probably nicer to eridan than anyone else was, except maybe feferi, so he latched onto him a bit. karkat unfortunately then realized everyone else hated eridan so he started pushing away from him more to seem cooler

- feferi. they are studying each other like little bugs 👁️👁️ feferi doesnt understand the way he interacts w ppl at ALL but finds it fascinating nonetheless. karkats really confused by her bc she doesnt act the way hed expect a fuschia blood to but hes intrigued by her nonetheless! they dont talk directly TO each other much but theyre always keeping half an eye on the other. figuring shit out :3

- kanaya. iiiii think they get along fine? but like kanaya gives off the vibe of someone who is Important and has Important Things To Do and nepeta buys into that more than most. i think kanaya joined the group kinda late so maybe she didnt get the chance to get to know nepeta v well...... sad :(

- terezi. THEYRE BUDDIES!!! terezi introduced nepeta to the larger group after larping online w her :3 nepeta's a little annoyed by how violent terezi's larping is but like in a 'shes trying too hard' kinda way akahhshdhdh. they still get along really well and i think terezi really appreciates her as a less murderhappy friend of hers :)

- vriska. they are NOT buddies akshsjshdh. between equius warning her off and vriska's general bad vibes iiii dont think nepeta ever liked her v much...... theyve probably larped together a few times but nepeta's Not A Fan of how vriska larps :( vriska is just looking for attention in any form, so she doesnt mind tormenting nepeta every now and then, buuuuut i think shes actually a little afraid of equius and knows how much he genuinely cares about her so nepeta gets a free pass from a lot of her worse bullshit, at least

MEOWRAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! despite what the protect nepeta club thinks, these two are the BEST moirails for LIFE!!!! they met in a larger group chat interaction probably and nepeta being the sweetie she is privately messaged him when she realized he was kinda getting left out of the convo. they got to talking together and really hit it off!!! now they are insepurrable :3 nepeta has her doubts about his behoofior from time to time but she can tell he really really likes her and has a bit of an 'i can fix him' mentality about it. she finds him really cute tho :3c

- gamzee. i think nepeta probably doesnt talk to him (or the rest of the highbloods tbh) much bc of equius's warnings? beyond that tho i think she finds him a bit off putting. shes friendly to him for karkat and tavros's sakes tho! gamzee i think doesnt think about her much but knows shes close-ish to his two main dudes...... which ends up being dangerous for her :(

- eridan. he has definitely hit on her, she was not into it, they both have pretty low opinions of the other. eridan has probably tried to instill comraderie w her as the 'social outcasts' of the group not realizing nepeta is actually very popular lmfao. she agrees w equius that eridan is a loser that shouldnt be entertained

- terezi. iiiiii cant imagine theyve talked much, considering how kanaya was acting towards vriska. this is a 'kanaya joined the group late' moment; like, i think theyre friendly w each other, but kanaya doesnt know the FULL extent of the vriska drama and terezi doesnt exactly wanna tell her about it and come off as the girl complaining about her ex to her ex's new girl so. theres an awkward energy there. i think they become better friends later on :,)

- vriska. kanaya's useless lesbian moment ❤️ and vriska's rebound from terezi tbqh. i think vriska doesnt really take her seriously until murderstuck lol, by which time kanaya is well over vriska...... from the earlier days tho, kanaya's romanticizing rainbow drinker novels and therefore into girls who are mean to her. real 'i could fix her' moment tbh

- gamzee. i think kanaya's a little intrigued by him tbh? she finds him as a highblood who's not a TOTAL asshole, just a weirdo, to be really refreshing, and she likes that he's there for karkat. gamzee i think doesn't get her relationship w karkat at all but doesnt concern himself much w her. he's nice when she talks to him tho

- eridan. she spent some time trying to get to know him at first bc of vriska's interest in him but quickly realized that vriska wasnt actually that interested in him and also that he's a loser. however by this point she has accidentally established herself as 'person who will talk to him' so she's kinda stuck w him sometimes :/ i think she doesnt think he's TRULY awful but she doesnt wanna waste her time on him. eridan is convinced that one day he'll prove how great he is to her and she'll help him get back in w vriska

- eridan. equius doesnt like him at all, eridan is scared of him a bit mdhsjsjdh. not a good relationship, they mutually avoid each other and only really intetact if equius is pissed at him over eridan being creepy to nepeta or smth

- the (f)larpers are integral to this friend group and the non (f)larpers cannot ignore the fact that their friend group was built around role playing (and slam poetry!)

- kanaya, feferi, and to an extent karkat are the least connected to the og group (aradia, tavros, terezi, vriska) and thats why i think they should be good buds

- the 'cool kids' that everyone else in the group tries to fit in w are aradia, sollux, nepeta, and terezi.... those more on the fringes think vriska is more of a cool kid than nepeta but they are wrong

sigh. wrote up a complete series of mini analyses of each beta trolls' relationship w each other beta troll prior to sgrub, like as theyre finding each other and getting to know one another. who wants to read it
