you know what boils my blood.

over the last 2 weeks, i've seen countless patients walk into my urgent care center, symptomatic for so many things, refusing to get tested for covid and flu, citing that they don't want to knowingly bring it to their holiday tables. i had a patient tell me, verbatim, "i don't want to test for covid, because i don't want to be the asshole who brings it on a plane."

i understand that - i understand that holidays are times where people look forward to meeting loved ones that they might only see once a year, or where they get a break from the hectic back and forth of their lives.

but here's the thing - whether they get tested or not, they will bring whatever they have to their holiday tables. it's pure recklessness to know that you're sick, and walk into someone else's house spreading the disease.

today, january 2, i saw 91 patients, many of them who have tested positive for covid and flu. many of these patients are the same ones who didn't want testing 3 days ago, until their events were over, and now, they will have to reach out to everyone they know to let them know that they were positive because they were showing symptoms well before their event.

the next week or two? we're going to see many, many more, all people with symptoms that started around christmas. these are the only two viruses we test for rapidly in our office, but they are potent and can be fatal in many people.

so here's why i wrote this post, and maybe it's a little late, but - if you care about your loved ones, please get tested if you know you're sick. it doesn't have to be at a clinic if you don't want it to, because the over-the-counter tests work just fine too (if you test within 5-7 days of symptom onset). just...please don't try to run from the knowledge that you might have covid, because immunocompromised people, elderly people, people with co-morbidities like asthma, pregnancy, diabetes, etc...many of them may not recover. and they may not be sitting at your holiday table in the future because of it.

he goes away for a moment, within himself, as he cooks. he realizes he doesn't like the grove. in it, he had felt the shadow of menzoberranzan. kagha in particular had unsettled him, but the rest, even the tieflings... the way they had looked at him.

brave to go around without hiding your heritage, one had said. as if istvan does not work every day to hide it. his braids are as gone as home is. the former, he may one day grow back. as for the latter - no going back. the way is shut.

he serves breakfast, and is privately glad he was too dead to get up earlier in the day. glad he was left behind. glad, too, that lex is the one who stayed with him. he finds himself smiling at lex, and then realizes he may need to come up with a reason to justify that smile. it falters. " your eyes look- good? " he blurts out, and then wonders where in the hells that comment came from. not that lex's eyes don't look good - whether or not they do is besides the point. why can't he hold his tongue?

lex was far less certain than istvan,   but he dropped it for the other man's sake.  he was curious what it was that drove him to drop such a thing so swiftly,  if it was forgiveness or something else entirely.  the wizard wasn't sure if he ought to admire or protest it.

he watched the warrior move past,  a little concern lingering still in his verdant eyes.  his gaze was searching,  watchful,  ensuring the other man wasn't too weak to fall in his attempts at standing and moving.  he wasn't,  mercifully.  lex relaxed a bit.  he was worried now what in the hells astarion was going to do about his meals for the future,   but the wizard could keep it to himself for now.   

“you know,”   the wizard said in response,   “if you did,   i already forgot.”   because he was losing his fucking mind.  the more time he spent on this plane,   the more he was losing his fucking mind.  the thought hit him like a sword hilt to the face.   it was absolutely mad,  and yet somehow it felt even less absurd than reviving a man who had just been drained to death by a vampire who walked in the sun.  “but,   yeah,   well enough.”   not as good as a dead man,   but pretty good.  he slept pretty soundly for a man a little unused to sleeping outside.   he went to the slab of rock where the rest had been eating earlier,  relieved when he found a couple of leftover honeyed buns squirreled away in a basket.  “wish they'd waited for us,  but i think everyone else went to trade with the grove.”   lae'zel had been adamant about getting more arrows.

Not to be too demanding, but will the drabbles include the poly romances? Because I do imagine it would change a lot of how the characters feel. But don't feel pressured to do it. It's completely fine if you don't.

Although it makes me wonder how you are planning the polys to go. Are we going to confess first to one of the characters? Or to the two characters at once? And are the polys a true triad, or a V poly?

Anyway. In truth I'm just asking because, selfishly, I want more Jay. But I do think both Jay and Ravi would have a different mind space if they got to wake up next to each other and MC.

That said, I understand if you don't write the poly drabbles. Since it would mean either going back and forth between POVs, or writing 2 different drabbles of the same moment. And that's a lot of work for something like this.

Of course, if you want to do it, I think all of us readers will love it. Just, if you do write these, please take care of yourself and don't overwork, okay? Straining yourself is not a good thing.

To start out, I don't think you're being demanding at all! It's a good question. To be honest, I'd really like to do drabbles for the polyships. I'm very fond of them, and I think it'd be a fun chance to explore them early on.

Especially because so far, these drabbles have all been tastes of how the relationship between MC and the RO is going to go. In a way they sort of...hint at the general vibe. And I'd like to be able to do that for the polyships, as well!

That being said, I'm hitting the same roadblocks you've mentioned here in the ask. I'm not sure how I'd handle the POVs, because switching between two POVs would feel like a lot for such short drabbles, and writing out the same drabble twice from different POVs would also be a Feat. And I'm not sure if people would enjoy them from just one POV, either...

Especially considering that, like you're saying, each half of the polyship would have totally different thoughts and vibes. And they'd have a lot to think about one another as well as MC.

Lots of words to say that it's something I'm considering, as I really would like to write them, but I have to figure out how to go about it first.

As for the polyships themselves--all three (can be) closed triads! Beck/MC/Perri and Jay/MC/Ravi are always closed triads, while Jay/MC/Yasmin can be a closed triad or a V, with MC dating Jay and staying FWBs with Yasmin.

The MC will always be the driving force in the polyships. My personal philosophy with these ships is that they're between characters that could conceptually get together on their own, but without MC's involvement, they never would. The MC is, in a way, the thing that brings them together--and the glue that makes the relationship work.

As for confessions, it's something I'll have to figure out as I'm writing it! Especially because it'll be different based on the particular polyship. A very loose estimate, though:

Beck and Perri are kind of a package deal in regards to their polyship. The MC will have chances to develop their attraction to both separately, but I really see them being the two you'd most likely confess to in one combined conversation. But it still depends on where the writing takes me!

Jay and Ravi are...complicated. Their relationship has ups and downs throughout the story, and adding a combined attraction to MC into the mix won't make anything easier. If I had to guess, I'd wager that MC will end up talking to them separately before they talk to them together.

And Jay and Yasmin especially are a unique case, since you can build MC's attraction and relationship with Jay while being FWBs with Yasmin! It's the one combination where, instead of having a 'choose one or the other' scene with your RO if you're FWBs with Yas, Jay will instead be like 'I'm polyam and not against this, but we Need To Talk About It'. And then, if you choose for Yasmin to develop ~feelings~, then the triad ship can develop!

Once again, just kind of general overviews on my thoughts going into things! Also, I can't blame you for wanting more Jay, haha. Me, too, tbh. They're a treat to write.

okay so the thing is, i may start temporarily unfollowing a few people because try as i might i cannot get enough words and tags filtered to remove US political posts from my dash (or any other social media site, which is perhaps the real problem here) and most of them are phrased as though there is something i can and should be doing about it all but i don't even live in the US. so i am being constantly both stressed by someone else's political struggles and told off for not having fixed it yet, and it's got well past the point of fucking with my head too much.

most americans don't seem to tag their politics posts and a good percentage of them are pictures of tweets (or similar) and therefore would get past any filter anyway, even if i could find the right combo of words to block most of it. i have done all the obvious names and words, the next step would be filtering out common english language words and at that point i might as well leave the internet because there would be nothing left to see.

anyway. i just feel constantly harassed over things that aren't my fault and that i can't do anything about but they're all being explained to me with an emphasis on how i should be contacting a representative i don't have to complain about them and also how to deal with country-specific situations that i will not run into and what i will run into needs different advice (but the posts don't even seem to realise that things could be different in the places they forget exist).

I really like the similarities between SAINW and Prodigal Son.

The lair destroyed. The brothers separated. Increased Foot presence. Karai's blind loyalty. Hunt for the fourth turtle. Even April and Angel!

I think, ultimately, Prodigal Son tries to answer the question, did SAINW only happen because Don went missing, or could any of their disappearances have led to the same or a similar outcome? And yeah, if Leo was gone longer, some version of SAINW could very well have happened in this dimension.

miss famous lawyer who's studying to enhance human rights and went to a meeting in geneva to create a roadmap to help with her mission most definitely knows something is up. i think i got spoiled about this whole situation, but i'm not 100% sure how trustworthy people's vague commentaries and my deduction skills are. either way, oon is now the love of my life. she is adorable and she needs a very tight and good hug, and for now, may seems like she's doing it quite well (tho i must admit, my heart hurts for oon every time may calls her oom).

LISTEN! i love my girl ciize. i adored her as alpha in 23.5, and i was so looking forward to see her in pluto (still am, don't get me wrong, i think this plot line will give us so much), but from the moment ciize said, yeah you know, pang has had this crush on oon since forever but never made a move bc she didn't know oon liked women, too, but now that she knows that's an option for her, you know, she might go for it. never mind this relationship i have with this other stunning officer who lives with me. it's like having war flashbacks of raymew in only friends, tho they are very different characters in very different circunstancies.

the thing about pang tho is that she's very logical. ep 1 pang telling oon, hey girl, i know a lot has happened in the last week of your life, but you're really taking the side of a girl found out existed just the other day and you met literally once. get a grip. iconic behaviour. i was saying the same thing. but ep 2 pang make me feel she does all of that out of misplaced jealousy and sense of ownership over oon's time and presence which is not really nice. i hope we get to see more of the phimpangjan triangle thing soon, because as i said, it's gonna be juicy~ (also, jan is so much more loyal and driven than i thought she would be. from the pilot trailer, i thought she'd be just a jealous wine lady who'd get in between kapookciize, but she's sweet so far).

grandma clearly has favorites (or so we think. at least this part of the story is from oon's perspective, after all, and we know we can be biased when telling a story), but @suppaloscurse talked about it in this post and i agree with a lot of that. oon not only is the older twin, she's also the one who needed to be strong and support her younger sister. it's not fair of grandma to pick favorites so blatantly, but i feel like it's what oon has always expected. she was sidelined bc her sister's fragile health, oom went to a private school, and then as adults, oom became a flight attendant while oon works in delivery (pls know i'm not putting more value in one more than the other) and then, also married rich. namtan talked about how grandma is pivotal in oom's story and is the reason for the granddaughter's growth, so i'm looking forward to figure that relationship out, too.

also, THE SAPPHICS OWN THE SPACE. THAI GLS TAUGHT ME SO. and, props to the cockroach that gave us the classic falling on top of you scene. i've said this during ploy's yearbook when namtanfilm's character found themselves in a similar predicament that if they were dudes, they would have kissed on the lips back then, and we almost had it in today's episode. fingers crossed i still can get my cliche from them.
