actuaally fuuckingggg hate people who dont like art in any meaningful way unless its a drawing of batman mixed with superman or some shit. All those videos where people "destroy modern art" by putting a random object in a museum and insulting people when they take pictures of it are so irritating. Like yeah im sure some of the people taking pics are kind of annoying but most people are just trying to find greater meaning and beauty in things especially when theyre in a museum specifically to do that. You arent badass for not liking art youre just boring and refuse to find something interesting or beautiful in things you have already decided you hate

I hate crustaceans. They scare me because I was traumatized when I was younger.

That is not the fault of Red Lobster, especially if I choose to go there knowing my trigger. It is also not the fault or responsibility of seafood fans. They are allowed to enjoy crab, lobster and other pinchy sea creatures to their heart's content. I have no right to tell them they can't. It would also be really weird of me if I judged them and insulted them because they like to eat a kind of food I find stomach-churning and visually upsetting.

Friends can be kind to me and ask before ordering crab legs because they know it disgusts me, but at the end of the day they are allowed to choose their own dinner. I also have no right to judge people at the next table for ordering the lobster within sight of me. It's on me to check the menu for those items before I agree to go to that restaurant, or just accept I'll be a little uncomfortable if someone carries a tray of king crab legs past me.

The same goes for any trigger. If you're 18+ and in the world, chances are you might see subjects that disturb you. You just have to prepare yourself, avoid spaces when you can, and leave spaces that trigger you too badly all WITHOUT putting blame on others.

Trigger warnings are a courtesy in fandom culture. But it is not reasonable to expect that every possible kind of upsetting content is tagged.

To OP's point, some triggers are so specific or so uncommon that the person writing would maybe never even consider that might be a thing that would upset someone. It is common to tag the big ones that often upset people, and I haven't met anyone who objects to that.

But still, TWs are a courtesy not a requirement. If you read something rated M or E, you should be prepared for anything. Stick to T and G rated fics if you really need to stay away from problematic themes.

The same goes for film, books, and TV shows. If it's got an adult rating, you have to expect you might see adult themes. If you know it's a bad trigger for you, the onus is on you to do proper research before you consume that media.

It's also totally reasonable to be upset by these things if they catch you off-guard. But you have to accept that it is an issue you have to deal with yourself. It's not up to others to change their storytelling or excessively cover their work in warnings.

Art is supposed to make you uncomfortable sometimes. That's part of its purpose.

While we're talking about how triggers aren't one size fits all, can we also talk about how sometimes they're just plain stupid??

I can read, write, and watch rape scenes with minor discomfort, but a dubcon drunk makeout scene in a TV14 show made me shut down and turned me off of the show for a month because it reminded me of something that happened to me.

I can watch gore, body horror, and slashers galore with no problem, but watching people slice loaves of bread with razor blades on Bake Off made me feel sick because it reminded me of my own self harm.

Does it make sense? No. But that's just how it is for me. No two traumas are the same, and it's so selfish to think that someone exploring something traumatic in fiction, in any way, is a reflection of you and your situation.

You own what happened to you, but you don't have a monopoly on trauma lmao. You don't get to dictate how people write about these things. And you don't get to decide who is and isn't valid based on how they explore difficult topics in FICTION.

Help a starving artist

Or, at least, one who is trying quite hard not to.

As people relatively close to me know, I lost my job last July. It was a shitty situation all around, but I survived on savings and unemployment. But frankly, having been a toilet scrubber for most of my life, I never had a huge amount of savings and now unemployment has run out; did last month, in fact. I've sent out well over a thousand applications. I've rejiggered my resume, asked people for letters of recommendation, wrote too many cover letters, etc. I was hired for a job in early January and did my drug test two weeks ago, but I still haven't heard back from that employer, so I'm now staring down the barrel of ah, as if I somehow forgot what terror and poverty felt like again. Delightful. 0/10, would not recommend, though honestly, a lot of people I know already know the feeling.

What can you do?

‘Snape is a child abuser’ is definitely coming from a generation of new Gen Z fans who weren’t growing up alongside the books and have failed to understand that the wizarding world is a reflection of 1970s-1990s British society and not 2025 therapy offices. Snape is an old school strict teacher who has methods - particularly towards Neville - that are mean and belittling and counterproductive but that also weren’t out of place with teaching in general back then. Corporal punishment wasn’t outlawed in English private schools until 1999. Nineteen Ninety Nine!! Historical context has been lost. Snape assigning cauldron scrubbing as a detention in comparison- he’s practically a softie.

He’s meant to be understood as a bitter, jaded, petty, tired to the bone teacher who has been held back by a job he’s too ambitious and too clever for. He’s not meant to be understood as truly abusive - because if he was, Harry would be deploying his usual coping mechanisms (conflict avoidance) instead of what he actually does, which is mouth off at Snape at every possible opportunity. It’s basic genre convention that every boy hero in a boarding school novel needs an antagonist teacher to put in his place while all the children cheer, lol. It’s not that deep.

Severus was designed so that kids at the time would see him as the classic rude, miserable teacher who ruins all the fun, is super strict, and seems to live to make sure you can’t do whatever you want. This was a very common archetype in fiction for those of us born in the ‘90s or earlier. He wasn’t created for people to think he was a child abuser but to remind you of that teacher who always gave everyone bad grades because they were extremely demanding, snapped at you for asking a question they thought was stupid, or seemed to live for catching students doing something wrong just to punish them.

We grew up with tons of characters like that (Miss Finster from Recess comes to mind—she basically lived to catch T.J. doing something wrong). They weren’t characters you saw as crossing a line with students, because EVERYONE had at least one teacher like that. The person we clearly saw as an abuser was Umbridge, but that’s because Umbridge wasn’t just about ruining fun—she wanted to repress and dominate the students. She physically harmed them and hurt them, abusing her institutional power. She was the character who scared you and made you angry. That’s why in the 2000s people hated her even more than Voldemort—because we had all either had a teacher like her, knew someone who had one, or heard horror stories about those teachers.

I feel like Gen Z doesn’t understand what it was like to grow up surrounded by boomers with zero emotional management skills who had done no self-work, and instead live in a paradise of Gen X and millennial teachers you can follow on social media. Honestly, they have a totally distorted view of things.

Anyone born in the ‘90s or earlier can clearly see the intention behind Severus as a teacher and what kind of archetype he represents—and they don’t associate him with someone abusive. Rowling wrote those books at a specific time for an audience that would understand that. I’m sorry some people were born 20 years later, but that doesn’t change the facts.

I’ve decided it’s more effective in the long term to bring up a handful of people than everyone who’s ever been obnoxious, mostly to maintain ongoing leverage, ie, maybe if people leave me alone they can get away with their lower-key shitty behavior, and if people don’t, then they won’t.

Do not harass nor send hate to the people I've mentioned; take the high ground. Blocking, vagueing and openly going “what the fuck is wrong with that guy (gn)” however is chill, but I won’t be taking anons personally that are pile-ons on these people because that is not the point of this exercise.

Similarly I just delete anon hate or post it if I have a funny enough response for it but it won’t elicit this kind of thing for various reasons I don’t care to get into right now.

If my good opinion is important to you, really, the quickest way to lose it is to treat me expressing my own opinions on my blog as a personal attack on you. I wasn’t specifically judging you until you decided I was; now, I will ruin your day or week and I won’t feel sorry.

Anyway, the main event: let’s talk about noted racist idiot hecate astralley/wright (main blog bone/heat), to my knowledge a white American cultural Christian, seen here (archive link if they delete it) mocking someone who found Bells Hells’ behavior justifyingly reminiscent of a conquering colonialist army as their family experienced, and horrifying for it (note: this mention is made with everypigeondeserveslove’s knowledge and permission; they are well aware of this bullshit). Hecate decided it was a good time to be a truly unfeeling piece of shit about this in the service of checks notes convincing people that Bells Hells was an anticolonialist narrative. They did, to be fair, just start reading Wretched of the Earth, so they do know who they’re talking over. I mean about. They also accused me of, when I pointed out this article’s discussion of history and whether it was written by the victors, Godwin’s law, which is not really what that means (saying ‘this phrase has its origins in a lot of hateful groups who used it to evade their responsibility in historical events, and also even if history is written by the victors, that doesn’t mean every alternate viewpoint is automatically wrong’ is simply factual), then turned around and claimed, in a truly stunningly insolent case of putting words in someone’s mouths, that criticism of Imogen and Laudna on the basis of their unkind actions was akin to calling them degenerates (archive)to the point that people were confused. This is an ongoing pattern with that circle; you’ll see it with cringefae/compilation too of just. Making shit up. 

What you need to know about them is in the end they’re mostly just a hypocrite and a loser. They’re really into 9/11 jokes, which to be clear I’m not personally squeamish about, but I also don’t go around screaming about how cruel the fandom is to Aeor, a city that is entirely pretend, while joking about real-life civilian deaths. Absolutely terminal case of caring more about pretend people than real ones. As for the idiot part, interesting to claim at one point that Orym would be saved by the Wild Mother and should, and this is a direct quote from someone who, again, is only now reading the first book listed the “Notable Theoreticians And Theories” list on the Postcolonialism wikipedia page, that he should “read theory” and then claim to have Gotten It From Hearthdell after spending much of the intervening time, as discussed, arguing for the deaths of the gods. In fact, I recommend looking back through their blog in depth for a combination of tiktok-brained politics, an utter lack of empathy, and Consistently Getting It Wrong And Lying And Pretending They Didn’t. 

Second person is cringefae/compilation. When they’re not throwing tantrums interspersed with gifs of the pink My Little Pony, or throwing different tantrums about Kipperlily Copperkettle, or throwing different tantrums about Essek and Verin Thelyss existing within the narrative, you can find them throwing tantrums about how everyone but them is a bigot, often in the main tag. This has been commented on by the general fandom, and it is notable that even others in their circle often won’t touch their vent posts (also many of said posts directly attack others in their circle, which is funny to me). Now I’ll just keep it very basic: I think what’s going on is that cringefae does not think they are a very good person, deep down, but is trying to project an image of being a very good person, and so they have decided that people in the fandom, of which I was public enemy number one before they seemingly discovered the native text block function, are the Real Bad People, and don’t seem to have the ability to process. Now the thing about cringefae is that if you dislike a character OR like but would enjoy them experiencing some fictional horrors and that character is not Essek Thelyss; the Briarwoods; a character I personally like such as Fjord when they are on the warpath (they actually seem to personally really like Fjord and I think high key hate that I like him because they have basically no consistent identity other than contrarianism; they do not seem to like anything, really, other than possibly the pink My Little Pony); or a white cis straight man that they do not headcanon as not that, then they will call you a bigot. Now: you may notice, with a quick perusal of their blog, that they believe Ludinus Da’leth to be a racist who started a race war, which would imply Essek Thelyss is nonwhite, but they have definitely argued against this as well, and recently argued both in favor of Ludinus having a redemption arc and also that they don’t believe in zero-effort redemption arcs, because again, there is zero logical coherence other than attacking people they don’t like for whatever reason. I don’t even have links; just scroll down their blog for a few minutes and you’ll get the vibe (bad). They too have a tendency to make up a guy and get mad at that guy (and have to clarify they're just making shit up in the notes); possibly to assume the worst of the fandom in order to feel better about themself. And whereas I think astralley/wright might know deep down they're attacking real people to defend pretend people and hoping no one will notice and call them on it, cringefae seems to be genuinely too stupid to understand the concept of "it can be interesting for a story to be tragic." They also tend to frequently insult the positions of people in their circle and conflate everything they don't like into one person; again, horse-immorality (deactivated) was one of the loudest "bor'dor is a dog" people and cringefae liked them and now is like IT'S SUPER RACIST TO SAY BOR'DOR WAS A DOG because again, it's not about any position, it's just about finding some arbitrary scapegoat and attacking them so that you can feel righteous, and in doing so, they become a cesspit of a person.

I think the kindest thing you could say about cringefae is that in their incoherence it all kind of cancels out, and absolutely no one really seems to take them seriously. They seem entirely unaware of the concept of crying wolf and how maybe if you say that a woman who checks notes happens to openly prefer the canon art of Jester, Yasha, and Imogen to fan redesigns, canon art that was checks notes designed by women and checks notes drawn by women is a “soft MRA” you might be wildly irresponsible in your accusations to the point of eroding an ability in the fandom to actually point out misogynistic views (also, hanging out with astrall/eywright does kind of fuck your image as caring about the oppressed). It’s accusations as a tool against the people they’ve decided are The Bad Ones. And really that’s the thing. I know we’re all online here, this is explicitly my fandom sideblog and I try to keep it light on politics not because they’re not vitally important but because I do see Tumblr largely as an escape and not as a news source, but I would bet good money this is someone who doesn’t like, do anything other than post. Anyway, just kind of a stream of nonstop constantly shifting incoherent bile worth a block. One of those cases where you're like "have people...just put up with this person in their fandom spaces forever? why? don't fandoms deserve to not have a missing stair like this?"

Yandere! classmate who's the new kid and is trying to fit in. Right, the average new kid experience. You're not popular, not a loner, just somewhere in between and trying to get by with all the horrors school can throw at you. No one has enough time to bother with others when they have to focus on themselves.

But there is.

You know how there are some people who peaked in highschool that take out their sadness on others? Yeah, that's right. Those people. And he just so happened to walk into one of these sessions.

Some grown ass man pouring milk over- oh, it's you.

Yeah just like how there's the losers who peaked in highschool, there are the popular kids who remain popular throughout their life. Aka you. And he's fallen for you hard.

It all began one fateful day... When he bumped into you while running on 2 hours of sleep and simply passed out because of the force at which he walked right at you. That's right. He fainted from walking into you.

Anyway, when he woke up, he found out that you had dragged him to the nurse's office and had stayed right by his side until he woke up.

How fucking cute.

He was definitely attracted to you. That was for sure, he still could feel it even when he was still woozy. I mean, you were his type from head to toe! Physically at least.

But now you're telling him you stayed by his side and waited patiently by his side until he woke up? You've got him hooked. So he gave you his number, got you to be his friend, and everything else fell in place.

He started noticing you around campus, talking to everyone and socializing like a freaking butterfly. Figures. You were clearly an extrovert and loved being just an absolute sweetheart. Sweet and kind to everyone around you. He would give you the world if you asked for it.

Then, he started noticing the bullying. The whispers, backhanded compliments... Just everything about it enraged him. It's bad enough that people are being mean, it's even worse that they're called your friends. How could they do such a thing to you? You were a blessing to be around! These people should be grateful that you even wanted to befriend them! Hell, they should be grovelling and begging on their knees for even as much as thinking wrong of you!

The worst part of it all?

You don't retaliate. Or rather, you can't. These "friends" of yours are all kids of rich and powerful people. And you? You're just poor old you, unable to talk back in fear of them ruining your reputation and maybe even worse. They could have you removed from the school, falsely accused of a crime... They're scum of the earth and they know it.

He hates them.

He hates them.

That's why he's taken it upon himself to get rid of them! No problem if he isn't as powerful or rich as these... "friends" of yours... Who can fight back when they're dead after all? The dead don't speak, they can't. They're the best type of sinners, people who've dared to lay their filthy hands and words on your beautiful soul.

Of course... He doesn't let you know that. You're too kind for this world. You'd freak out and have a panic attack if he told such a thing to you! You wouldn't understand. Usually it would be comforting to him, make his heart soar and face warm. Right now though? it's sending nothing but dread through him. Shit, he's exposed himself.

Anytime people say they think Ryan wouldn't play gay they can never provide any actual evidence they can only point to the interviews where he refers to Eddie as straight, which he canonically is currently until the show addresses it so that is literally nothing to do with Ryan's own personal feelings playing a gay character - which like you said he has done before. OOOOHHHHH MAN. I HAVE AN EXACT SCENE IN MIND, BUT CAN’T SHARE IT YET BECAUSE IT’S IN ONE OF THE LAST CHAPTERS. 😂 I’ll give a very brief overview of what it entails, because I feel like the fact that it happens isn’t exactly a spoiler since it’s kind of inevitable given all of Candybug’s general assholery, though I’ll put it in small text in case people want to gloss over it, but basically *cough cough* Vanellope flips her goddamn lid at King Candy (long overdue and well-deserved ofc lmao) and I just can’t wait to get to that part, she tells him off VERY HARD. My favourite scene for sure. :3 (tbh there’s a lot of emotionally painful shit that comes up in that particular set of chapters that I’m just so unhinged and not normal about lmfao CAN’T WAIT TO HURT YOU GUYS MORE <333)

AS FOR SCENES OF THE ALREADY-COMPLETED CHAPTERS THOUGH, MAN, THAT’S ALSO TOUGH TO DECIDE TBH 😂 Chapter 3 and Chapter 8 have been my favourites overall of the published chapters so far, and a couple of my fave moments from those ones was a) Ralph finding out that Candybug’s still alive and the general fallout from that, and b) Candybug reminiscing to Felix and Vanny that he went through Ralph’s mud pile on purpose before coming inside the penthouse specifically to annoy Gene ghfdsgxdhcfgvhbjnkvgf

I also like these two a lot, idk exactly how to explain why I like the second one tbh, but the first one I just find fun and silly lol:

For the longest time, it had been so hard to look at him and see anything aside from Turbo, the monster. The arcade’s personal boogeyman. There’s also some fun Calhoun + Candybug interactions coming up eventually, and even though they don’t interact a whole lot as compared to the other characters, I love their stupid dynamic and I’m gonna share this one scene from one of the later chapters of Calhoun completely trolling him because it makes me giggle 😂

They sat in silence for a minute or two longer, Calhoun’s head tilted slightly to the side as she watched the Cy-bug eat. One more question had popped into her mind, and though she already knew the answer, she wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity to have a little fun at this bastard’s expense. “So… Haven’t laid any eggs, have you?” King Candy immediately choked on his food, hacking and coughing while he tried, unsuccessfully, to regain whatever sense of composure he had five seconds ago. Turning away to jot something into her notebook (and hide the smirk on her face), she commented, “I’ll take that as a ‘not yet’.” “What do you mean ‘yet’?!” Candy’s distraught voice sputtered back, Calhoun trying very hard to muffle her snickering.

I JUST THINK THE FACT THAT SHE KNOWS WAY MORE ABOUT CY-BUGS THAN THE ACTUAL CY-BUG COULD MAKE FOR SOME VERY SILLY TROLLING SHENANIGANS. 😂

I kinda wanna hop in on this, since I usually don’t say much. (But to note, I will be including platonic ships, since I ship some romantically, platonically, or both.)

Octopath 1:

I love quite a few of the different ships in the first game, but if I had to have a favorite, it’s a three-way tie between Alfyn x Therion, Alfyn x Ophilia, and Cyrus x Olberic. I love those 3 too much!

But for this section, I’ll specifically elaborate on Alfyn x Ophilia. Personally, I don’t ship them as much in a romantic sense, since I enjoy the platonic sense more. And also, I feel like not too many people ship these two, but I also may be out of the loop.

I enjoy how the personalities of these two play together, especially since both of them are such caring individuals. I love combining Ophilia’s kind and understanding nature with Alfyn’s resourcefulness and desire to help people in need.

Particularly involving Alfyn’s Chapter 3 and Ophilia’s Chapter 4, I think that they would be great supporting each other. Ophilia’s story emphasizes how people can pick up the pieces from a loss or a traumatic event, and how people can reach out to those close to them for help. I think that Ophilia would help Alfyn navigate the consequences of his Chapter 3, since he had to go against his creed and take a life instead of saving them, and that he got stabbed in the back by someone he trusted and wanted to help. It’d be similar for Alfyn helping Ophilia after Lianna’s betrayal, since they both know that Lianna’s grieving over the loss of her father.

I also just enjoy that even though they’re very kind individuals, they’re not ones to be pushed around. They’re not going to be trampled on like doormats. If they or someone they love is being wronged, they’ll stand up and fight to make things right.

I personally see them as close friends or sibling figures, but I can understand how people can ship them romantically.

Octopath 2:

I actually don’t ship as many people in Octopath 2 compared to Octopath 1. For some, I just don’t see them being romantically involved with any of them, and for others, I think some are better off being friends or otherwise in a platonic relationship.

However, Crick and Temenos have me at the throat, both in a possibly romantic sense and especially in a platonic sense. These two are the Mikotoba and Sholmes of the Octopath universe to me, and I adore it.

I adore Temenos and Crick as characters, but pairing them together with their specific dynamic makes it all the more entertaining. Temenos teases his partner a lot, but overall, he appreciates everything that Crick does. And as much as Crick hates how laissez-faire Temenos is with his methods, he can’t deny that it revealed things that they would not be able to find if they went with the conventional methods.

Temenos being in Crick’s debt and wishing to repay him… God, that bit in Stormhail had me at the throat, especially after Crick’s untimely demise. I adore how Temenos carried on Crick’s work after him putting his life on the line to get the one clue that he needed.

Outside of the romantic sense, I love the unspoken respect between the two of them. Yes, one works within the law and one works outside of it, but they recognize each others’ talents. There’s a lot that they can learn from each other.

imagine color and killer in a situation where both like each other but can't because of nightmare being kind of an obstacle (i think nightmare was homophobic but im not sure if it was true or not) and maybe killer was afraid that if nightmare found out, then he would do something to color, so both decided to hide their feelings for themselves until the escape

Nah, corrupted nightmare isn’t homophobic—as in he doesn’t care or have prejudice against others just because they’re gay or queer—but because he wants to spread and create negativity, and hates literally everyone and everything (probably even itself despite its massive ego), but will still use people’s greatest hurts and pains and fears against them to benefit itself. Even if that means aligning itself with those types of people, even though it also hates homophobes just as much.

So in this case, it’ll only use homophobic language if he knows it’s something that’ll cause negativity in color and killer. I doubt killer would care too much, but color would likely be filled with justice and integrity and be massively pissed off that the prick is willing to go that low for a few measly bits of negativity that won’t even matter in the long run or sustain it for long.

On that topic, if Color and Killer were to find themselves with romantic feelings of the sort during this period, I mostly think Color would be concerned about the possibility of Killer being in a vulnerable position and not ready for a relationship (as well as the fear of, what if he feels this way because he thinks no one will be kind to him (which I’m sure Color firmly believes that anyone would’ve done what he’s doing for Killer if they could, there are decent and kind and good people out there, even if Killer can’t see it or trust it), not because Killer actually cares about him or wants him as a person?) (it’s that low self esteem coming in), as well as the constant fear and worry of losing him yet again. Knowing the pain it’ll cause, knowing himself well enough to know how losing any other Killers would devastate him.

I’m sure Color, if he has lost Killers before, would want to maintain a level of emotional distance or boundaries; because he barely survived losing the Killers before. Both for his own self preservation, until he can at least manage to save one Killer at least, and because he wants to be mindful of Killer and his situation.

He knows that how isolated Killer is, how his only meaningful experiences are more often than not with Nightmare and how that taints his views and interactions with anyone outside of his little bubble—and how deeply afraid and distrustful Killer is of himself.

So im sure Color will try to restrain any desires to act or talk about those feelings specifically, even as he gladly acts on his more platonic ones that Killer allows; because Killer is still very much his friend, and he won’t leave him doubting or questioning if Color cares, especially not as Nightmare works to convince Killer otherwise.

I doubt he’d hide his feelings from Killer if Killer ever directly asked or confronted him on them, or at least he’d definitely struggle to—he has far too much Integrity to try and lie about it. Not only does it go against what he believes in, but he doesn’t want to lie to Killer or risk losing his trust over something like fear of rejection or worse—abandonment.

By this point, he’s definitely already learned how hiding and suppressing his emotions and feelings because he’s afraid of being alone again only serves to damage his relationships and push the people he wants to stay further away.

I doubt he’d make the first move to turn their relationship in that direction—or at least not for a very long time. He’s genuinely just happy that Killer’s with him, alive and hopefully soon, safe.

Honestly I hate the way some people write Misty in the fandom. Or more specifically, the way the other yellowjackets react to Misty. It's just cruel and mean sometimes. And really over simplistic of their relationships.

I know I'm not gonna get like a 100% perfect representation of these characters in fanfiction but some of these takes are just callous and some are straight up bullying, and it just kind of ruins the experience, and sullies all these other characters for me.

Like, yeah they were dicks to her sometimes, I'm not deluded enough to believe they were best friends, but the way some people write them, you'd think their default is to absolutely loathe this person, when in reality, they only ever really lashed out at her under duress, and they actually threw a few morsels of kindness her way at times.

For example you might see Van make some jokes at her expense in the series but she does that with pretty much everyone. It doesn't mean she hates her. She still shared her tequila with her at Lottie's compound and sat through her monologue at Shauna's baby shower in the woods, and she still tried to defend her from Shauna's rampage in season two.

Taissa might be abrupt and snarky with her too. She's been curt with her under pressure but she was also the first person she hugged at their reunion at Lottie's compound. (I couldn't find a gif of this but it happened. Here's screenshots as proof) and she also defended her against Shauna in season two.

And let's NOt forget that she was TaiVan's biggest in-universe supporter

The only characters we've seen show any form of disdain or animosity towards Misty, at least in the teen timeline, where most of these fics take place, are Misty, Mari, Kristen, Ben and Shauna, and most of those are in response to something she did, like drugging Ben, or her role in the mushroom stew incident, or in Shauna's case, misplaced anger and grief.

My point is there were times where she was in on the joke, and not always the subject of the joke, and I find in fanfiction, unless it's explicitly about her and maybe some other Misty-adjacent characters, she's always treated by other characters with contempt, as if she's a thorn on their side, when she's usually just vibing or doing her own thing, within close proximity, and only a source of conflict when she's actually done something that causes conflict, and not just constantly looked down on by default. Hell she was even hero-worshipped a teeny bit.

If people really regarded her the way she's written in fanfic, she'd be the first girl they had for dinner.

Unpopular Opinion Time…

…But am I the only one who doesn’t care about the male characters in Project Sekai? At all? With the obvious exception of Len and Kaito, that is(bc what kind of Vocaloid fan would I be if I didn’t care about them? Lol).

I see a lot of people care about the male characters in this game or even prefer them above the female characters which is totally fine(aside from the preferring them part, of course, because you should care about the female characters, too!). Some people even say that they enjoy Project Sekai much more than most other rhythm/idol games specifically because it has guys in it.

But for me I don’t really care about any of that. I really only care about/focus on the female characters, and my favorite groups are two all-female groups as well(N25 and MORE MORE JUMP!). I dunno, I just really enjoy the fact that Project Sekai is a very female-centric game full of strong and complex female characters, and my favorite characters are also two female ones(Mizuki and Airi), plus I also really really really enjoy lesbian shipping, which this game is rife with(Mizuena and Airizuku are some of my favorite ships!), and I don’t really see the purpose of getting into a story that has so many cool and awesome female characters…and just sidelining them all for the few male characters that exist? That doesn’t really make much sense to me.

This doesn’t mean that I hate the male characters and think that other people shouldn’t enjoy them, you are allowed to like what you like, nobody can stop you. Project Sekai is a very positive and optimistic game full of love, kindness, and acceptance. And I don’t want to ruin the fandom experience by shittalking others for their choices or for how they enjoy the game. But it is curious-making to me that the male characters tend to so heavily overshadow the female ones in the fandom, especially since this is a problem in fandom in general, and not just in PJSK. And it is especially isolating and confusing to me, as someone who just prefers to enjoy the female characters and doesn’t give much thought to the male ones, if any at all.

Those who know me and have followed my blog for quite some time will know that this is simply how I interact with fandom in general, I heavily prefer female characters and female-centric stories and narratives, and male characters simply aren’t as interesting to me, even when I do enjoy a male character or het/mlm ship, that doesn’t mean that I will let them take priority over female characters or wlw ships. I’m fine with preferring female characters over male ones, and don’t need a male presence in a show for it to be cool and enjoyable. To be honest, if there were no male characters in the game, or if all of the male characters were female instead, then it wouldn’t make much of a difference if any to me(and I would probably enjoy those characters more if I’m being completely honest 😅). Am I alone?
