every time i go to look for like. explicitly plus size crochet patterns made by someone built like me and literally nothing comes up except for stuff that's along the lines of "oh heres the numbers for small and medium but if you need a larger size just add more chains! (does not elaborate on the specific stitch or if ill need to stick to a specific number of stitches to keep the math right or compensate for a wider chain)" i want to scream. like. i just want a fun little underbust corset thing man. am i looking in the wrong places or is this just a side effect of every search engine going to shit.

I have been sitting on these for a long time because I wanted to have some more varied stuff but I haven't had time to write anything! So here's what I've got! Honestly these are some of my favorites

- Whenever he's kicked out of an area or event, Oswald proceeds to start shoving anything not taped down into his pockets. He doesn't need the stuff, he just likes to be petty and ruin it for everyone else

- Bane has done a series of infomercials for various products & services that only air on late night product channels. Alfred is the only batfamily member who knows, he was doing laundry late one night and nearly lost it

- Mr Freeze writes restaurants/companies when they wrong him. Like nice formal letters, signing them and everything

- The Joker has an imdb page. Actually a lot of the villains do but like the Joker has one he updates with fun facts. Who says they're accurate but they sure are fun

- Riddler freaking hates puppets. Their soulless eyes say it all. He refuses to or "work" with puppets. That being said, Scarecrow has chased him around with Scarface once or twice "for science"

- Scarecrow has and still does write letters of recommendation for his ex students. He freaking still has Gotham University letterhead paper and everything. Honestly some of his students have gotten the job from his letter alone (maybe it's out of fear but like it's still a win), and they 100% send Jonathan thank you gifts in Arkham. He's got one of those dorky teacher scrapbooks where he keeps the thank you letters. One of his students even crocheted him a little plush scarecrow. It's like, they don't love his crimes but you know that was ol kooky professor Crane for ya

- Harvey kind of has a soft spot for sitcoms, he used to watch them with his mom growing up. One of their favorites, ironically, was night court

- Bane has a famous chili recipe and he makes one batch a year. It's fucking delicious! He makes an edition with meat and a vegetarian version too. Of course consults Ivy for home grown excellent quality vegetables and she gets first dibs in return

- the Joker has not one but TWO released albums. One is essentially a mash up of all the serenades he's made Batman listen to over the years and the other one is called "The Holidays with the Joker: Christmas selects edition"

- Scarecrow's car is a mess. He's got a work truck of course but his main car is like a wood panel sedan that he's been driving since he was a professor and refuses to get a new one. It's a fucking mess, he has like clothes, papers, garbage all over the place. He still has term papers he forgot to grade under the seats. Riddler HATES his car, with a passion

- Riddler has gone through the pain and suffering to teach all the rogues how to use discord, he had once hoped it would make their crimes more efficient. They have a group chat but it's mostly suffering on his end as all chaos ensues

- Scarecrow owns a Halloween train village he has set up in one of his lairs. It plays instrumental versions of Halloween songs as it goes around the track

- Joker will push open cups off of tables because he can. He's got the chaotic energy of a cat awake at 3 am

- Riddler and Scarecrow's friendship starts like super formal and co worker like but after like a year and a half, evolves into a weird symbiosis. Jonathan points at random ass objects or books and goes "you" when he's with Edward. Eddie has a habit of fixing or picking debris of Jonathan, usually when they're crimeing. Also one time, they were both startled so bad by Batman that Scarecrow jumped into riddler's arms like Scooby & shaggy, except they both held onto each other for a second before toppling over. Robin then unmasked them like scooby doo

- Harley & Ivy are frequent Panera customers and often get pick up orders there under "codenames" given by Harley. All the workers know who "Plantmamma" and "the quinnanator" are but like they tip great and everyone should get to enjoy soup

- Bane has one CD in his car, it's a 2010 greatest hits CD that someone accidentally left in there. Who you ask? He has no idea

- Harley has a getaway playlist preloaded in her phone for car chases

- Riddler and Scarecrow watch reality tv/game shows together. They binged all of survivor and the amazing race in a year. It was a joke at first but they both got really into the shows. They have both applied to be on amazing race together and unfortunately haven't been called back

- Joker still uses cassettes (and vinyls probably) except he mixes them himself and labels them all stupid titles like "Birthday bash #9", "Baty's mix", "what's the deal with airplane food?", "etc". But he also has a tape recorder and makes notes to himself and labels those ones too, so he gets his personal notes mixed up with his music jams all the time. He goes to put on some epic clown music and instead it's a twenty minute recording he made of himself eating fruit loops

General relationship head canons for Jason Voorhees

Happy Friday the 13th everyone. I wanted to write something for my sweet baby girl, also happy unofficial birthday Jason.

Warnings: Mentions of murder, violence, kidnapping, Stockholm syndrome

Jason Voorhees

The way your relationship starts is when Jason kidnaps you. He was watching you the entire day or however long you've been at Crystal lake. The main reason being that he thinks his mother would have loved you and that whoever you were with aren't good for you.

In the beginning of the relationship he's mostly going to be giving you small gifts and doing things for you as a way to show affection. He won't do physical affection until you initiate it first.

Part of him showing you affection is trying to cook for you. Now it's not going to be great food but he's trying. If you want to cook he'll let you, but watch over you carefully so he knows you're not trying to pull anything on him.

But as the relationship goes on he's going to follow you around like a puppy more and more. He's still going to be a 'provider' for you but when you're together he's going to follow you around as a way to protect you.

Speaking of protecting you, you're not leaving the house without him. Probably a year into your relationship he'll let you go out to a local town to go get stuff from the store.

You'll be joining him for walks in the woods a lot. He might be setting up bear traps or just gathering firewood, he wants you there with him.

He knows he can't hide that he kills people from you but he's going to make sure that you avoid all of the violence and blood that comes with killing people.

Just in case you do get in trouble he's going to want to teach you self defense. It's not like formal training or anything just how to throw punches and use weapons and stuff.

I feel like Jason also knows a good amount of medical knowledge. Some of it was learned on his own but I also think that he's found medical books in the camp infirmary that he's read.

Speaking of books there is so many at camp. There's a lot of different types of books too. Most of them being ya books but there's also cook books and novels the councilors were reading floating around.

Books aren't the only thing left at camp. I'm sure Jason has a big collection of other little projects and supplies for other fun things to do as well. Most likely arts and crafts stuff but still probably old toys if you're into that. I could also see Jason having stuff like sewing kits, yarn, knitting needles and crochet hooks from his mother.

He won't really open up about his mother or really any of his emotions or mental health struggles to you until like a year into the relationship. Most likely because he's seen how emotional men get treated by watching other boys interact with each other. Also because it's a sensitive topic for him.

On a lighter note he will love to share clothes with you. It's most likely that you're smaller than him because he is 6'5 and built like a linebacker so his clothes might be too big on you but that just makes him adore you even more.

I mentioned this before but Jason can and will build you furniture for the cabin. It won't be totally uniform but it'll still look pretty good.

He's also going to let you figure out how to decorate the cabin. You might not have much to work with in the beginning but I'm sure that it'll turn out great either way.

I want to draw these but my hands are not cooperating rn so here's so Mumscarian crafting headcanons!!

Mumbo sews and embroiders! He tailors his own suits and makes a lot of his own clothes because he loves to work with fun prints and different patterns. However he loves making pretty flowy dresses often for Scar but he has a few for himself.

Grian knits, not crochets, knits. Mumbo and Scar often get them confused and Grian is very quick to correct them. Y'know his famous red jumper? Yep he made that, and 5 more in the same color but with slightly different patterns. He also makes so so many mittens, hats and scarves. Mumbo and Scar have so many pairs and they keep getting more.

And Scar of course! Scar paints and does pottery. His garage is basically a pottery studio at this point as he loves making plates and bowls and silly stuff like little sculptures of Jellie.

Often you'll find Mumbo and Grian sat on the couch in their craft room together. Mumbo mending a hole in one of his shirts and Grian probably knitting another hat.

Scar is bad at portraits, like really bad. His main strength is landscapes but he tries very hard to paint his boyfriends and sure the proportions are a bit weird but the boys love them all the same.

Sometimes when Mumbo is in a crafting mood but doesn't know what to sew he'll just grab someone's clothes and start embroidering the first flower that comes to mind. It's always a fun surprise to see a little bundle of lilacs on your shirt right?

GUYS. GUYS. I GOT COOL HEADCANON IDEA

Connor got really into sewing/crocheting/making clothes/that stuff after the revolution because a lot stores were closed out of fear (or lack of staff) since they used androids and Connor wanted new clothes because he absolutely HATED. DESPISED his suit. Because it looks like shit and I also headcanon him having sensory issues so the material gave him a not-so-fun time with the feeling.

So, he started learning how to sew. He found spare fabrics here and there, and he started to practice. Turns out he found it very fun and also he could make some mad good designs. He started off just making little patterns or sewing together small little things to experiment with sewing, but after a while (not really, mostly a week) he was kinda awesome at it. So, he found some more fabric (probably bought it somewhere after making sure it's Connor Approved and not too. like. overwhelming? to feel? ykwim) and he finally sewed together some awesome kickass type uniform for work, and then some good clothes to go out in, and casual clothes.

So, basically, he started making his own clothes because he couldn't/(eventually) didn't want to buy clothes. And he was really good at it and enjoyed the process.

Afterwards he started playing around with other stuff like crochet and shit too. He still prefers finding fabric and sewing it together and seeing what he could do. (also mixing multiple mediums somehow. crocheting and sewing? might be chaotic to make work, but he'd find a way.)

He also started making clothes for other people (Jericho mostly because Markus saw his clothes, asked him where he got them, and was amazed at the fact he made them.) and other stuff fabric related. He made clothes, blankets, patches, sometimes even flags for when Jericho/someone was like "fuck digital flags" or wanted a physical one, and other shit (he made stuffed animals for Alice, specifically friends for her fox, and he also liked to crochet stuff a lot. He made a lot of crocheted flowers once and made them into a bouquet and they're still standing in a vase Hank bought for him as a joke on his drawer. Everyone who ever sees them asks who they're from, he always says "oh idk, RA9 gave it to me" as a joke and they freak out before Connor tells them he just made them lol)

Also, he started making patches a lot after he found out he could make them with embroidery or crochet when he was experimenting like "....can I do this" and turns out. He could. Anyways, he really liked designing these little patches, and then putting them on stuff. And once, he forgot to buy a gift for someone, so he just last minute made a cute little patch that was custom for them. They loved that patch and turns out he liked giving something custom to someone as a gift.

He made every single one of his friends custom patches that following night.

And he still makes a ton of them for his friends and hell, even acquaintances from the DPD or Jericho. Patches are his love language now. Hank has too many because Connor (like the son he is) makes him one every chance he gets since Hank just can't say no to his gifts. Also Sumo has one, and Connor stitched it onto his collar when Hank gave him the okay (Sumo first tried to eat it, so Connor took that as a 'he likes it!!')

Weird Questions for Writers post

2. If you had to give up your keyboard and write your stories exclusively by hand, could you do it? If you already write everything by hand, a) are you a wizard and b) pen or pencil?

Nope, I couldn't! This is purely an accessibility issue for me. I can't write by hand for very long before my hand really starts to hurt. Also my spelling is sooo much worse. When I'm typing I rely a lot on muscle memory to spell words correctly, but when I'm doing it by hand the dyslexia is really a problem. Like m/w get switched, or b/d, b/p, d/a, d/q, p/q, f/t, i/j, even u/v. Sure I know I want to write an 'm', but I might end up writing a 'w' because it's the same letter just mirrored. Or I'm trying to write 'a' but my hand keeps going so now it's a 'd'.

The thing is, I didn't even realize I was dyslexic until a few years ago! So until my late 30’s I struggled so much with any kind of writing and didn’t know why it was so hard. If I mentioned to anyone that spelling was really hard for me they’d always say stuff like “But you’re so good at reading!” So I thought I was stupid or not trying hard enough, even though deep down I knew there was something going on that wasn’t my fault. Writing by hand actually gives me a lot of anxiety because of all those years being judged for something I didn’t have control over. And honestly, I don’t think I would’ve ever trying writing if I didn’t know I was dyslexic. Because I still would’ve been blaming myself for being neurodivergent.

33. Do you practice any other art besides writing? Does that art ever tie into your writing, or is it entirely separate?

Yes I do! I’ve done a ton of different arts and crafts over the years. My grandma taught me to crochet when I was 8, and that’s something I’ve done on and off ever since. Generally I crochet lace because the feeling of most yarn as it passes over my fingers gets really irritating, and fine cotton doesn’t. Also I like to challenge myself to make tiny, tedious things! I used to draw, but gave that up in my late teens because of how quickly my hand would start to hurt. Though I really miss it. I’ve dabbled in quite a few different types of embroidery: cross stitch, needlepoint, and drawn thread work. But my favorite is black work/double running stitch/Holbein stitch which I always make completely reversible with no visible knots because I’m nuts like that. I know how to sew, both by machine and hand. I’m not an expert at it, but I can do basic fitting and make clothing that isn’t very complicated. Quilting is something I’ve dabbled in, and would like to do more of, it’s so different than sewing clothing! Another thing I want to do more of is making chain maille jewelry, I’ve done a bit of it and it was really fun! (I’m purposefully leaving out quite a few things I’ve done because it’s already a long list, lol!)

My favorite art form besides writing is bead work! There is something so satisfying to me about working with beads. For one I love jewelry, which I think is a large part my grandpa’s fault (he was a rock hound/amateur lapidary artist, and he used to make jewelry for me). And I love both the technical/mechanical side of bead work, and the artistic/design side of it! It doesn’t matter if it’s bead weaving, if it’s stringing beads, or combining beads with wirework! I love all of it! Working with beads just clicks on a deeper level for me than most art forms I’ve tried.

As to whether it ties in to my writing, I guess that depends on how you interpret that question. I use a lot of lessons I’ve learned about creativity and my own creative process when I write. The way I approach writing is heavy informed by how I work in other mediums. And if it makes sense in the story, I will absolutely use knowledge about other types of art in my writing. Though I haven’t had much opportunity to do so yet. That’s only a matter of time, I usually give my own characters a hobby I’m at least a little knowledgeable about, so it will come up at some point or another.

Oh, man I was looking for examples of some of my work, but I have hardly any photos of things I've made! Well, I did find a couple I can show.

This was done for a drawing class I took when I was 18. While I have regrets about adding color to it, I still think it turned out pretty well. I used a photograph of some rhododendrons from an old National Geographic as reference.

I made these earrings for my mom back in 2015. They're sterling silver and apatite with silk thread woven through the fine chain to add more color. The silver beads next to the drops are 2mm, and the total length is only 1.5 inches/3.8 cm, so you can see I tend to work small.

Progress Report

So, progress is a tad slow. Having 2 kids under 3 plus two losses in the family in the span of a month and a half kind of throws things for a loop.

On my list of things I wanted to do this year, this is where they stand:

French: Really haven't done much with this except work on some basic greetings with the toddler. I think because I do still have a good deal of knowledge of the language in my brain (I can type and read it fairly well, my grammar is correct at least, it's listening and speaking I have trouble with) I just need to do some immersion and work on getting my brain back into the game. I have technically reached my goal here because I can technically read a toddler book to my daughter, but I'd like to feel comfortable with speaking it so I can possibly start having a conversation with my daughter.

European Portuguese: nada, just haven't had time or brain space for this.

Korean: I'm picking up a few words here and there as I watch shows with my friend. I tend to watch variety type shows rather than k-dramas, which is a more natural form of speaking rather than scripted. This means I may pick up some terrible slang, but I'm not going for fluency here.

History: I stalled on my free course and need to get back into it, having multiple family situtations was just too much for me to keep up. Luckily it's the kind of course you can restart from where you left off and keep going so I don't have to restart from the beginning.

Pattern Drafting: I have been watching videos and reading up on pattern modifications, but haven't got to making my block. We're still in the process of setting up my crafting area, which is also my work from home office, so space is a premium and I may have to wait until we're able to dig out the dining room to have space to draft it. We did a major renovation before the baby came and currently have no dining room tables as that's the room we put all the STUFF.

New Addition just for fun:

Crochet/Lace/Spinning/Generic Crafting: I have a fascination with old fancy lace and how it's made, this is such a low burner thing, but it's still something that's kind of happening in the background. I just got a Craftsy premium membership on a MASSIVE discout due to it apparently being Craft month, and I'm looking at honing some skills there. A goal in life is to make most of my own clothes (I am very far from this skill), and knitting/crochet/weaving is a way to get there.

Ok so this isn't as bad as I thought. I feel like I haven't done anything, but the joy of learning is it isn't linear and it isn't just based on doing classes or workbooks. I hope to update more often, but two kids and all that.

December 12 - 2023 Tuesday

10:40pm

Some nights I don't want to journal because I'm thinking too much about whats going on or the near future so I don't like to take the time to reflect. But it should be useful to try and recall anyways on days like this.

This morning in the shower I took care of business even though I didn't quite feel like it and I knew it would leave me little time for lunch. I was also lazy and instead of using something more gentle, I used my Mane and Tail shampoo which was rough so I kinda hurt all day. Afterwards I made a can of beefaroni and some cereal since I didn't have much time. In stream I studied a couple neopets pics and did a couple poses. I finished the Venus pic and just watched He Man for the last 15 ish minutes. Afterwards I put my clothes away and started looking for a hat to give my step dad for Christmas but it was determined he already had one. Mom also said not to worry about getting her a present so unless I can actually think of something good, I probably won't get her anything. I also wrapped presents for Madi and Evie today. For lunch I made a broccoli pizza using a combination pizza this time which wasn't as good as plain cheese. Today's request had me drawing a chubbier body type than I'm used to and I tried my best but I'm not sure I made it chubby enough. I spent my personal hour trying to draw Kumatora but I didn't do a great job. I determined that I shouldn't use afternoon project time to work on subjects I'm unsure about because I meant for that time to be used for things I know will benefit my business. It's why I stopped doing VRchat work with that time because my art career was suffering. Work time should be practical, I can draw fun stuff on my own time. After work I played some Hell Let Loose for awhile and was in a couple squads with minimal chatter so it was chill. I also watched video about operation Iraqi freedom which I knew nothing about. Daisy called in bed crocheting and I played Neopets as usual. I told her how amazing the coast area was because I thought it was beautiful and showed so many distant places on the map. I also found out where to go to fix the bridge finally. After she fell asleep I tried to relax with XQC and browsing twitter. I was hoping to get to bed early but I'll only be making in just in time.

Today I started narrowing down what I'm going to talk to my therapist about on Thursday. I might start writing down more thoughts and feelings here again in an organized way just to document how I felt about everything. Because even on days where objectively good things happen, I might not always feel good about it. I'm also trying to use the tags to tag the things that stick out to me in my head.

my personal take on bombalurina is a mix between the riot grrrls of the 90s and 80s punk girls, and then a dash of the greaser chicks from grease. i saw that spiked collar and my brain went OH okay i can run with this somewhere fun. same for demeter, but less so - she just has the piercings.

demelurina:

bombalurina met demeter in college at a women’s activism club, noticed her because of her dimple piercings and was like “oh someone else with a lot of metal in her face, i’ll sit next to her”

they were each other’s first off-campus roommates and were close friends. made out a couple times, but it was mostly a lot of sexual tension. there was a lot of bombalurina staring at demeter while she or demeter made out with someone else

demeter was on and off with her high school boyfriend munkustrap and bombalurina was like “oh he’s so much more stable/calm than me and she needs that, i party a bit too much for her, i shouldn’t try anything” so she just sort of. lets their almost-there peter off

(this is all bombalurina’s internal thoughts - demeter always was interested in her, but thought she was too boring for bombalurina. so neither of them thought they could pursue it)

bombalurina graduated and moved somewhere cheaper further away from campus. they kind of drift apart

munkustrap and demeter peter off and he moves away for a job (they’re still good friends, it was a very amicable breakup) and then demeter gets with macavity, which is a deeply toxic situation for her and sucks hugely and throws her whole life really off track. won’t go into further details

she finally manages to break up with him and calls bombalurina at like 2 am asking if she can pick her up, and also if she can sleep on her couch, it’s okay if that’s not okay, she just. really needs a place she feels safe, and her gut is telling her to. and of course bombalurina says yes

bombalurina also knew macavity and had also made out a couple times with him at like parties and stuff (see: staring at demeter as she makes out with people). something about transference of feelings - bombalurina was into him for a couple moments because he and demeter had a thing.

this is due to me interpreting the song “macavity” as actually about bombalurina wanting to fuck demeter and her singing as a half-repressed expression of that. i use my really good wlw brain to reach that conclusion. it’s kind of a non-competitive version of eve sedgwick’s take on the love triangle. (<-- normal thing to say)

but anyway demeter stays on bombalurina’s couch and she tries so hard to stay on track but eventually she just has to drop out. bombalurina helps her with that too. she’s just really supportive even as demeter’s life is at its lowest point. when she gets home from bartending she gets demeter to go to sleep

she just Stays with her and makes her smile and reminds her that her life isn’t over, there’s still things in her day to enjoy, to keep her trudging forward

bombalurina is roommates with tugger at this point - he also recently dropped out and demeter knows him because he’s munkustrap’s brother, so he’s Trusted and also is like “hey it’s okay that you dropped out, im here and im chilling and you like me and respect me at least a little, and you have a bachelor’s degree at least!” (more on him later)

demeter is like “oh god ive been crashing at their place for so long not paying rent, theyre gonna ask me to leave, im such a freeloader, they wont take my attempts at paying rent” but then bombalurina and tugger are like “hey! the lease is almost up! we found a pretty good 3 bedroom, do you wanna have your own room for real?” and she nearly cries because 1. the RELIEF 2. oh my god you want me around???

cut to bombalurina helping demeter put together an ikea dresser (tugger got banished to the kitchen to make crystal light lemonade for them because he’s useless with a screwdriver) and demeter has two epiphanies:

1. i thought i was ready to d*e four months ago and here i am making a dresser to put clothes into in my new apartment where i live and feel safe and loved. im still not happy but im still alive and im making a dresser

2. holy fuck im back in love with my best friend, and ten times more than i was back then.

so she like kind of freaks out because she’s already imposed so much on bombalurina, how could she impose her FEELINGS on her like this, oh no oh no oh no

meanwhile bombalurina’s back in love with her even MORE and she’s also like no... she’s already dealing with so much... i don’t want to make her uncomfortable or feel unsafe in her own home especially after her recent relationship trauma... i just want her to feel safe around me...

you might think tugger as their roommate would be like “JUST KISS” but he is in fact pretty oblivious because he is self-absorbed. mistoffelees on the other hand..

eventually they do have a big confession of feelings after demeter has a bad day and it’s very dramatic and they make out in the rain. and it’s like. well this is a movie scene. but also im cold and damp. let’s head inside our home and get warm and dry :)

and then they go inside and and talk through everything, all their feelings (not just their romantic feelings but like ALL their feelings) and their shared histories and bombalurina is like “do you think you’re... ready for a relationship right now? like that would be a good thing for you?”

and demeter considers it. she does stop and think. and then she says, “with anyone else... probably not. but it’s you. and i feel so safe around you, and we’re already so close. you make the future feel more worth it. you make more days alive feel not just tolerable, but something to look forward to. and knowing you’ve loved me all this time... it’s nice. it’s good. i’m - i’m understating it so much, it’s more than nice, it’s just - it’s a lot. i wish i had noticed back then.” “hey, hey, don’t blame yourself. i’m the one who never said anything.”

they do fool around with each other but they are both very understanding that it is strictly platonic and for fun, especially once they become roommates. they both do not desire each other for anything serious

doesn’t go to college. is roommates with his sister victoria, who’s a freshman and studying dance. moved into town with her so she wouldn’t have to live in the dorms by having a guaranteed roommate.

the general vibe i want for these two is mistoffelees walking around town or driving around in his shitty toyota camry while tugger tags along because he’s bored and thinks this is cool as shit

just a lot of tugger following mistoffelees around on his jobs and mistoffelees letting him because he’s fond of him and them occasionally getting into minor peril and interesting shenanigans, but it is 90% fetch quests

i think the first time they met tugger was taking selfies in front of a hydrangea in a public park and he saw mistoffelees walk up with a shovel and start digging in one of the flower beds and he thought he was hot so he went over and offered to take over on the shoveling to look strong and masculine and he ended up digging up a skull, which mistoffelees picked up and said “thanks” and then walked away

mildly terrifying but also very interesting and tugger’s days are kind of boring and dishwashing kind of sucks as a job to do like every night and he is a person who thrives on novelty so. moth to a porchlight

i think they do start making out for fun here and there and then a while later theyre out on one of mistoffelees’ jobs and someone asks “who’s the guy with you” and mistoffelees replies “oh that’s my boyfriend, don’t worry about him” and then it’s like. “HUH? I’M YOUR BOYFRIEND?” “uh. yeah? i assumed. is that okay?” “i mean yeah of course i think you’re great! how long have we–” “oh like a while.” “oh. uh. cool!!”

they just hang out a lot. mistoffelees enjoys teasing him and enjoys his warmth and bombasticity and tugger likes watching and helping him solve little mysteries around the county because it’s always something new. they’re kind of a comedy duo. they just enjoy spending their time together and following mistoffelee’s internal magic gps to find lost dogs and lost necklaces

Crafting cottagecore themed furniture 

Intelligence means nothing if you lack kindness and compassion. I once read that on some post a long time ago and it stuck with me since. Spending these past few days with Arabella and Teddy and learning a bit more about that infamous summer they spent overseas that was actually terrible but eye opening in retrospect, it got me thinking about that post again.

The campers and I have been busy crafting furniture these past couple days and it’s been fun. Arabella’s putting together courses on making cottagecore furniture pieces so we’re helping her out by following her instructions to make sure they’re clear and easy to follow as well as make sure the designs work out.

In the process, we’re also helping Teddy fill up her new house. She just moved to a bigger place last month that’s not only closer to the school where she teaches, it’s also in the same neighborhood as her brother’s place. Having upgraded from a small apartment in the outskirts, she didn’t realize how much space she had was until she got everything settled and saw it felt kinda empty. Not wanting to break the bank, Teddy sought Arabella for home decor tips and her timing couldn’t have been better.

So here we are, making a bunch of cute (and functional) cottagecore themed stuff that will be put to good use later on. By the time we’re done I think we’ll have made enough furniture fit for an entire apartment complex!

Arabella’s library of online classes has expanded considerably. While furniture making courses are still her main thing, she’s branched out to other ventures like textiles, painting, bookbinding, and cooking. She has also put up free original patterns for knitting and crochet, which I have saved for when I feel up to it.

I’m especially looking forward to knitting her ballerina top once I get the courage to try a raglan pattern. Hard to believe that after all these years since I’ve picked up the hobby, I’ve been coming across terms and techniques I’ve never heard of that are familiar to most. Then again, I never really delved much into knitting clothes, something I was kinda discouraged from because it’s costly in terms of money and investment. I don’t know, but from my experience knitting a sweater’s one of those things where it’s sorta praised and mocked at the same time. Like on one hand it’s like “Wow! That’s so cool! You must have a lot of patience!” but they also say “You must have too much time on your hands. There’s a lot of better things you ought to be doing”, so it leaves you feeling mixed on whether it’s an accomplishment or a subtle dig at you.

Now that I’m older and have been getting back into knitting - as well as picked up crochet - I’ve fallen into the rabbit hole of following a bunch of mainly knitters. So now I’ve been looking into making my own sweaters, something I feel I have more confidence in now that I have more resources to look into as well as feeling more up to the task. I’ve started with simple patterns - a simple crochet wrap top and a knitted tank top - and they’ve turned out good so likely when the weather starts to get colder, that’s probably when I’ll start making a sweater.

Now I’m picturing myself knitting a cozy chunky wool sweater while enjoying the new decor. Basically living out the cottagecore aesthetic, amirite? Yeah, the nightstand will make for a good place to put all my yarn WIPs. I can already picture all my unfinished yarn projects piling up on there.

Along with Arabella and Teddy, tagging along on this fun adventure of furniture making are Teddy’s brother Royal and his nine year old daughter Dove. Royal has dabbled in carpentry so he’s has been helping Arabella out with her designs over the years. I’ve heard a lot about him and Bessie so it’s nice to finally meet him.

Back in the day, Arabella and Teddy were roommates, living in the big city. Arabella was going through what she called a transitory period before she decided to go back to Isabelle and Digby. Teddy and Bessie were teachers - Teddy at a local high school and Bessie a grade school teacher in the countryside. Before moving to the city Teddy used to live in that small countryside town for a time when she and her siblings moved there. She moved to the city at the suggestion of her cousin, someone who Teddy and Bessie had once looked up to, at least until he turned against them during that infamous summer.

Over the years I’ve heard bits and pieces about what happened that summer. At the time Arabella and Bessie were considering grad school while Teddy wanted a change in career path. Teddy and Royal’s cousin suggested that the ladies come join him to spend the summer attending a seminar, mainly to network with others. Long story short, drama happened, and the guy attempted to sabotage Bessie and Teddy’s careers over a bunch of misunderstandings.

It wasn’t all bad though, Arabella and Teddy said. At least the experience opened their eyes to the ugly side of academia, as in the pretentiousness and classism aspect. I remember Richard saying something similar, how he almost became one of those snobs but was luckily hit with a dose of reality and self awareness.

For Teddy, it kinda helped her realize what she wanted and what she didn’t want. Ever since she was young, she was pushed to climb the ladder of success, to never be satisfied with what you have until you reach the top. So naturally, she felt that she had to advance professionally despite being content with where she was. It wasn’t until after having her career nearly ruined when she realized that she shouldn’t be wasting her time doing something she didn’t feel strongly about. She enjoys teaching and she likes working with teens, so what’s the big deal if she doesn’t get promoted or make huge leaps in advancement? What matters to her is helping kids, whether it’s to understand a lesson or help them figure out their future, that’s why Teddy got into teaching.

As for the cousin, he works at the private school Mimi got expelled from, and is an elitist bootlicker. Teddy said he’s a really smart guy and was like sort of a mentor to her and Bessie, not to mention that he was the reason why they became teachers. But he’s also somewhat insecure, so if he feels threatened by something, he’ll lash out in the worst possible way, and that’s why he tried to ruin Teddy and Bessie’s futures. Royal said he used to feel kinda sorry for him as he was the kind of person who didn’t really have much other than his intelligence, but over time he continued burning more bridges, so while does still feel sorry, he also doesn’t want anything to do with him.

From what I’m hearing, the cousin is the kind of person who should not be in charge of anyone’s futures. Arabella said it best that when he started working for that private school he decided that he liked exerting power more than educating people. I’ve also heard a bunch of not so good things about that school in general and it seems like the perfect place for someone who plays favorites and bullies people into submission. Not to mention that he has a track record of fraud, harassment, suicide baiting - and apparently he’s tame compared to other faculty members.

Outside of that, he’s lost the trust of many friends and family members. Part of it’s because of his strong opinions, which have swung dangerously right over the years. Arabella admitted that while she respected him, he often rubbed her the wrong way. Royal can’t forgive him for two things - harassing Bessie and trying to kidnapping Dove.

The kidnapping is one of those stories that gets worse the more you read up on it. A simple google search will give you the gist of it. Again, how is this guy still allowed to teach, much less have a big influence on a kid’s future?

In the short time before and after Dove was born, Royal and Bessie were going through a bunch of hardships. Financial troubles, illness, homelessness, and finally Bessie’s untimely death - Royal said if it wasn’t for Dove, he wouldn’t know what to do with himself. The trouble started when Royal became seriously ill and though he recovered, he was left disabled. Bessie was stretching herself thin caring for him while having her own health to consider. Then the cousin intervened, claiming to have good intentions but looking back no one’s so sure anymore. He did help out though, but had his own ulterior motives as well.

Then Dove was born and for a while things seemed to be slowly settling down. And then all that changed when a destructive tornado hit, destroying the house and seriously injuring Bessie. She was slowly recovering until she learned that they were homeless - who can blame her? - and that’s when the fight in her went out after holding on for so long. Several weeks later she died from complications from her injuries, which ended up being more extensive than previously thought. In Royal’s words, she held on as long as she could - far more than any one person can withstand - and that took a toll on her until she couldn’t hold out anymore.

When Royal was at his most vulnerable, that’s where the cousin took control of the situation. Up until then he had been trying to manage Royal and Bessie, convincing them to pack up and join him in the city, making Royal feel useless in the process so he could solely depend on him. He had offered to care for Dove for a couple weeks while Royal regained his strength, which turned out to be a total lie.

Instead he took off with Dove and refused to bring her home, claiming that she had no future with a single disabled parent. Apparently he was planning to fight for her custody but thankfully he wasn’t able to get there. It’s kinda similar to that case Sophea’s working on, minus the kidnapping. The whole thing made the news for a bit before the school intervened to cover it up, still, the story got out anyway and somehow he’s still there. I wonder if Mimi had to deal with him as a professor during her time there.

Since then, Teddy and Royal haven’t heard from him. Royal, with help from Bessie’s family, eventually got back up on his feet. Almost losing Dove was a wake up call for him as he had been doing nothing but feel sorry for himself since his illness. He and Dove stayed with Bessie’s parents for a time before moving in their own place. By then, Teddy had returned to town after being disillusioned by the big city when the school she worked at closed in favor of being replaced by a parking garage. Now she teaches at the local high school where she and Bessie graduated from.

Thankfully, life has been quiet for Royal and Dove since then. Dove is said to have inherited Bessie’s fighting spirit and vivid imagination. I have read some of Bessie’s poems that she had posted online and she has a way with imagery. From how Arabella, Isabelle, and Digby speak highly of Bessie, I wish I could’ve met her.

As expected, Arabella’s instructions are informative and easy to follow. Just some minor tweaks here and there with design adjustments and clarity, the usual. Arabella is not the type who puts something out until it’s up to her standards so it’s important to make sure things are running smoothly. These furniture pieces are more on the intermediate/advanced level so it takes a bit more work, which I don’t mind. After running this camp for almost five years, I guess you can say I’ve somewhat become a pro at crafting furniture!

Spencer had been dreading this task for weeks. His old apartment building, while cozy and charming, had come with small closets. and he knew at some point it would need some new shelves and such… He’d been procrastinating on it, making excuses like his busy work schedule for the reason it had never gotten done. Really, how many PhD’s did it take to be able to use a drill, level and hammer?

Apparently none. Spencer had 3, and he couldn’t use any of the tools he needed to assemble the closet. He’d been talking about this issue with his colleague and close friend Y/N, and to his surprise they’d offer to come over to help over the weekend. He wasn’t sure how much better they’d be at it than himself, but he didn’t see any harm in letting them try to help. Worst case scenario, they would call Derek when they inevitably failed. Plus, Spencer harbored a crush on Y/N and was always eager to see them whenever he got the chance. Even if the task at hand would be unpleasant, he knew it would be better with Y/N there.

He was reading through the instructions for the closet system when he heard a knock at the door and hopped up to let Y/N in. His eyes widened as he took in their casual weekend look… they looked absolutely adorable. They carried a small tool box with them (something Spencer didn’t have at his own home), and a bright grin spread across their face as Spencer welcomed them inside.

“Okay, Spencer… Where are we starting?” they asked.

“I have the Elfa system for my bedroom closet. I’ve been reading the instructions this morning and it seems fairly simple if you have the right tools.”

Y/N took the instructions and gave them a quick skim, pulling out all of the tools that would be needed. They seemed to know exactly where to start, grabbing a measuring tape to ensure that the closet pieces would fit in as planned. Spencer helped them measure and mark where the metal bar would need to be attached, and then held it steady while Y/N ensured it was level and marked with a pencil where the drilled holes would need to be.

“Ok, so first we’ll drill the holes. I already checked and made sure we’re not going to hit any studs that will make that hard. Then we’ll hammer in this anchor, and then attach the metal bar to the wall using these screws.” Y/N walked through, showing Spencer the different tools. All of this made sense to Spencer, in a bookish ‘I’ve read this before’ kind of way, but he was impressed by Y/N’s ability to actually do all of it.

They hopped up on the step stool, evenly drilled the required number of holes in the wall and used their hand to brush away the dust that was left behind before setting the drill down on the step stool between their feet. As they bent over, Spencer tried not to gawk at how good their backside looked in their faded denim overalls. No, he definitely wasn’t interested in grabbing a handful of their ass once they got down from the step stool and pulling them close to him. His daydream was interrupted when Y/N started talking again.

“Awesome. Spence, can you hand me the hammer and one of the anchors? They’re the little plastic things in that small bag.” They asked, looking over their shoulder and extending a hand. Spencer’s fingers tingled as he dropped the plastic and metal pieces into Y/N’s hand, and he felt a jolt of desire as their fingers briefly intertwined while he handed over the hammer. He wondered if Y/N was feeling any of this attraction, or if it was all one-sided.

They took the anchors and deftly hammered them into place, and then asked Spencer to help hold the metal bar in place. He licked his lips anxiously, both because his body was now much closer to Y/N’s and in the hopes he was doing the task correctly. Y/N’s hand was gentle on top of his as they helped Spencer line up the material to the line they’d marked on the inside closet wall.

“Awesome, yes - right there, Spencer!” they smiled encouragingly at him. Spencer tried not to think about them saying that same sentence in a different context…. One with significantly less clothes involved. He held the bar in place while Y/N used the drill to secure the screws in place. Spencer wished he could think of a joke about screwing that would make Y/N laugh… but he was never that good at jokes and also couldn’t think about Y/N and screwing in the same moment without feeling overwhelmingly hot and bothered. Gazing up at the dusty, white ceiling only partially kept him from fantasizing.

Once Y/N was done, they double checked that everything was still level (it was), and got down to the more detailed assembly of shelves and drawers. While they sat on his floor and assembled the pieces, Y/N asked Spencer questions about himself, the books he was reading, and his favorite Doctor Who episode. He could tell they were trying to make him comfortable, but he was genuinely enjoying the conversation. He tried to reciprocate, asking them about their interests outside of work and being surprised to learn they’d recently picked up crochet. He wondered if they would be interested in continuing the conversation over dinner or a drink… but before he could gather the nerve to ask, it was back to the tedium of closet assembly.

Y/N helped him space out the vertical bars according to the specifications the Container Store staff had provided him and started sliding everything into place. Occasionally a piece would slip and a quiet swear would leave Y/N’s lips, their brow furrowed in concentration. It was extremely cute and endearing… while Spencer was excited by the progress on his new closet, he was also starting to figure out how the day would end in him asking Y/N out. After this day together, he felt absolutely certain that he wanted to be the one to please and delight Y/N. He wanted to be the reason for the little grins, the exclamations of joy… someday, maybe even moans of pleasure? He shook away the fantasy as he slid the last drawer into place.

Y/N dusted off their hands and grinned at him. “There we go! See, not that hard… I feel like you really got the hang of it there towards the end. Ok, now stand in front of it and look cool. I want to text Derek a picture of our handiwork.”

He stood in front of the closet and let Y/N pose him as she wished, soaking in the feeling of their hands on his shoulders as they turned him at a different angle. Chills cascaded down his back as their touch subsided. Did they know they made him feel this way? Y/N was smart, inviting, capable, damn good looking… and had spent most of the afternoon with him, tackling a project that most would despise. He didn’t know why he’d waited so long to ask them out.

Y/N snapped the photo, then showed it to him to make sure it was ok to send. He nodded, and after the message was sent they started cleaning up.

“Seriously Y/N this was amazing! I really appreciate you coming over to help. It was actually really fun.” He felt himself blushing and swallowed nervously before asking, “Maybe I could take you out to dinner sometime, as a thank you?”

They dropped the drill bits they were holding in surprise before looking back at him. Y/N blushed and grinned. “Absolutely. I’d love that.”

“Ok, great. How’s tomorrow?” He beamed as Y/N nodded in agreement. “Ok, great. Tomorrow! Thank you so much again for helping me, not that you need to always help me with this stuff, it was just really nice and…”

Y/N cut him off with a finger on his lips that felt like a branding iron. “Spencer, you are so sweet. I’ll be your handy helper any time you need something screwed… call me about dinner tomorrow, I can’t wait!” They kissed his cheek, collected their toolbox and left, Spencer standing there, stunned.

He couldn't wait for their date.

Welcome back to our latest - and last! - Deep Dive into the gameplay of The Sims 4 Nifty Knitting Stuff Pack. I’ve really enjoyed sharing the designs and development of this pack with you, and I hope to continue doing these sorts of posts in the future. It’s been a super cool experience, and I hope you’ve enjoyed reading these! In today’s post I’ll talk about the feature that is core to everything in this pack, Knitting! Once again, I have to remind you that we’re still in active development on the pack and so some things may change between now and the final game. Now, let’s talk about some nifty knits!

READ IT I PROMISE YOU GONNA LIKE IT!

In order to start knitting, you’ll need to purchase a Yarn Basket from the Build/Buy catalog. You probably remember voting on these baskets a while back. This was the winning design, presented to you now in all its colorful glory! Don’t like color? That’s okay, because we included a solid black and white variant.

We have one more knitting basket coming too! Remember this one?

The basket acts as the crafting catalyst(neat term, huh?) similar to the Easel or Woodworking Bench in The Sims 4 base game. But unlike those examples, the Yarn Basket is meant to live in a Sim’s inventory so that they can take their knitting anywhere they want to go. Knitting itself is relatively straightforward: click on the Yarn Basket in your inventory, OR, with the basket in your inventory, click on the chair you want to sit in while knitting (perhaps a rocking chair?) and select the Knit interaction. Your projects are saved to your Sim, so you can pause your progress at any time and resume later, and even juggle multiple projects at once. Starting a project costs a small amount of Simoleons for the cost of yarn, but nothing too outrageous.

(Children can knit too!) As a Sim levels up their knitting skill they’ll have access to new patterns. They’ll start with knitting socks and beanies, but as they grow more skilled they can tackle more challenging projects like sweaters and toys for kids. But if you only want to specialize in one thing - perhaps knitted mailbox cozies? - that's fine too! Just keep knitting anything and everything, and you’ll be level 10 before you know it. Speaking of knitting skill, sometimes your skill is reflected in your knitted work, or rather your lack of skill. Knitting projects can fail, and when they fail they can get weird. But it’s all subjective, and maybe you’ll end up accidentally knitting the cutest derpy companion, or the perfectly itchy sweater. No mistakes, only happy accidents!

(Just own it.) One of the niftiest parts of the knitting skill is unlocking the ability to Teach to Knit, where Sims sit down together and have a knitting pow-wow. We wanted this to feel special, so we got a really sweet animation for it (Thanks Haeju!). Now that you can infect other Sims with the knitting bug, no yarn ball will be safe!

(The knitting needles aren’t finished on the Teach To Knit interaction yet, but trust me it's SUPER CUTE.) So, what can you do with all these knitting projects? Lots of stuff! Not only can knitted objects be listed on Plopsy, but you can also Donate them to charity. If you want to surprise a loved one, try Gifting a knitted object too. If you want to destroy all traces of your knitted failures, you can Frog the object and start again! If it's a particularly nice Sweater that you made, consider Adding it to Wardrobe to make it available in Create-A-Sim to all family members.

(Everyone appreciates a nice gift!) We want Sims to be able to knit something for their whole family. Not only will Sims be able to knit Toddler Onesies, but Baby Onesies as well. So put your little grubworm in a handmade knitted outfit. I’m sure they’d thank us if they could! (And if they didn’t like it I’m sure they’d be polite about it.)

(Here’s a sneak peek at some of the concept art for new clothing for the littlest of Sims!) It also felt like a good idea to add an Aspiration to tie this passion for knitting all together. So if you want to master the fuzzy art of knitting, consider signing your Sim up for the Lord(or Lady) of the Knits Aspiration. With yarn running through your veins, there will be no knitting mountain too hard to conquer! Master the Aspiration and you’ll be rewarded with the Sacred Knitting Knowledge trait. What does it do? Lots of stuff! What does it unlock? Something special! Am I being vague? I am! Come on guys, I can’t share all the secrets quite yet.

As I’ve mentioned previously, we’re trying to get as much cross-pack functionality for knitting as we can. Cats can play with Yarn Baskets and Yarn Balls, there will be new Club rules for Knitting, new class electives at University, and knitting counts for Emotional Control, just to name a few. I’m hoping Knitting feels nice and snug alongside our other gameplay systems. Now let's have a chat with our lead Object Modeler, Beth Mohler! Conor: Can you tell us a little bit about what an Object Modeler does on The Sims 4? Beth: As an object modeler I spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to make objects work in The Sims 4. This is actually a very involved process, and somewhat different from the wonderful work our environment team does. We work with designers, concept artists, engineers, animators, vfx artists (basically everyone!) to make sure that Sims can use an object properly in an animation, or that all of our objects will work with each other. Once we understand the design for a new object, we will create a rig, a block model (a very generic version of the object used to help us make more of the same object in the future), and a footprint (tells us where the object can go and how Sims move around it). Once those are tested by animators and other disciplines we can model the final version, create UVs, and add textures. We also hook up and test everything in the game to make sure it all looks good. There is a lot to think about when it comes to making objects because we know players can find so many interesting ways to place and use them in game. That makes it a very fun challenge to make them work with everything else we’ve built before. Conor: What feature are you most excited to work on in Nifty Knitting Stuff? Beth: I’d say I am most excited to work on the rocking chairs! I love that we are bringing them to the game and can’t wait to see them in some cozy living rooms or on porches. Conor: What are some of the challenges you are facing working on this pack? Beth: One of the biggest challenges is ensuring that the knitting itself looks good and is fun to watch! This is a challenge given that it needs to work for everything you can create. Figuring this out takes a lot of iteration between modeling, animation, engineering, design, and art direction so that we come to a conclusion that will work the best given our time and technical constraints. Another interesting “challenge” is the fact that I crochet as a hobby myself! When you are knowledgeable about something (yarn!) in real life, working on it in the game it can sometimes be hard to separate the things you know and may expect in reality from what is possible or best within a video game. I have to make sure to keep a balance and to conceptualize how we can best convert the knitting experience into The Sims 4. As someone who also generally enjoys interior design and architecture, this is actually one of my favorite challenges and one of the things I love about working on objects in The Sims 4. Conor: What is your favorite feature you have ever worked on in The Sims 4? Beth: I think it has to be a tie between the mini fridge or the robotics table in Discover University. That pack was the first time I got to really take an entire feature from start to finish. I’ve been with Maxis for a while, but I’m relatively new to The Sims 4. Both of these objects had some complex features we wanted that required a lot of iteration. I learned a ton about the technical aspects of our game during the process as well. I’ve also worked on a few very cool things between then and now, but those can’t be shared yet ; ) As a fan of The Sims since the very beginning I am so happy to be able to share a little about what I do on a daily basis on The Sims 4 with you! I haven’t been on The Sims 4 for quite as long overall, but some of you may also recognize me from my time on Sims Mobile where I shared some of our workflows on Twitter for making a juice bar. Thanks! Conor: You shared a screenshot of the In-Progress Rocking Chair in our Rocking Chair Deep Dive. Can you share an updated screenshot now that the Rocking Chair is further along? Beth: I would love to! I hope everyone has been enjoying seeing the progress on this object so far! Here it is a little further along. This program allows us to set the rules for the object materials, footprint size and rig it should use, as well as all the color variants and swatch colors you see in the catalog.

NIFTY KNITTING - GAMEPLAY OVERVIEW 🧶

Gameplay was what I was most excited for with this pack. As an irl crafter + crocheter, this is the dream! ✨ (Still would like a hobby pack though, EA).

I ended up going a lot more in-depth than I thought I would, so obvious “spoilers” under the cut.

I was provided with an early access copy of Nifty Knitting to review via the EA Game Changers program!

Getting started with the knitting skill is as easy as plopping a bag or basket of yarn into your sim’s inventory and picking something to create! At level one, you’ve got the choice between nine different beanie variations for all ages. 

I noticed my sims had a tendency to gravitate towards rocking chairs for knitting, unless directed to sit elsewhere. You can pick their knitting spot by clicking on any sittable surface and telling them to knit in the pie menu.

Unfortunately, the bag or basket has to be in your sim’s inventory to do any sort of knitting. In my opinion, this sort of defeats the purpose of having yarn sitting around the home. It’s honestly a shame, since my apartment is covered in random bags of yarn and half finished projects. It doesn’t stop you from placing them for decoration, but it does make for some useless spending for sims on a budget. And honestly, what was the point of voting on what this looked like if we’re never going to see it outside of inventory?

Additionally, each sim will need their own basket of yarn in their inventory if multiple members of the household want to knit.

As your knitter progresses through the skill, more things will become available.

level one - beanies

level two - socks

level three - mailbox cozys, hanging plants

level four - rugs

level five - sweaters, the ‘teach to knit’ interaction

level six - poufs

level seven - decorations (cacti, turtle, octopus, penguin, llama)

level eight - toddler and baby onesies

level nine - sweaters with scarves

level ten - child toys (bear, grim reaper), mentoring sims in knitting

completed aspiration - yarny toy, yarny sculpture, ‘sacred knitting knowledge’ trait, bonus when teaching other sims, ability to dispel the sweater curse

I was honestly pretty disappointed that onesies require such a high skill level. I’ve really been looking forward to decking out all the babies in my 100 Baby Challenge in cute new clothes. Like I mentioned in my CAS review, I don’t foresee Day having the time to devote to knitting in the forseeable future, much less getting to level eight.

Thankfully, items are available to buy on Plopsy!

According to the gurus, Plopsy can also be used on the computer - but I never even thought to try it. I was honestly surprised that it was fully functional on the phone, both for buying and selling items.

Buying something on Plopsy is just like anything else in the game - funds are immediately deducted and the item can be found in your inventory. When purchasing clothes, you’ll need to select the item once it arrives in your inventory and hit ‘add to wardrobe’ in order for it to appear in CAS.

I specifically tested purchasing baby onesies, and it seems like a mod I have prevents them from actually being applied to the baby. I have no idea which one, but I tested two onesies purchased from Plopsy in a CC free game and had no issues. 

Failed item variations cannot be purchased on Plopsy - your sims will have to make those all on their own!

Selling items on Plopsy is probably my favorite part of this pack, and has the potential to be a huge money maker! Most things your sim can craft with a quality value assigned to it will have the option to be listed online from the sim’s inventory. I was able to list paintings, woodworking sculptures, herbal brews, photographs, flower arrangements, potions, candles, and knitted items for sale!

One of my test sims knitted a sweater dress and the cost of yarn was deducted automatically from her household funds - §50. She listed the dress on Plopsy, and within 24 hours she had an offer of §747. ����

After knitting and selling duplicates of several items, it definitely seems like the cost varies a bit depending on the buyer. But I was always able to sell at a profit.

Believe it or not, there are dangers to knitting! This pack doesn’t come with a new death, but instead a curse. In my opinion, this is a super fun change and I’m so glad for something different.

There’s a chance that when giving a significant other a knitted sweater, both sims will become cursed!

Oh no, you’re cursed! They say couples with the Sweater Curse are destined to break up, so be very, very careful. Maybe don’t try anything romantic for awhile, because it will not go well. The threads of fate can be cruel.

So naturally, I cursed Bob and Eliza and then spammed the hell out of romantic interactions. They were all rejected. Their relationship plummeted in the span of a few sim hours. I didn’t stick around to see if they would organically break up on their own, but it wasn’t looking good.

It’s worth noting that I was never able to get this to work while they were married, but the second I demoted them to dating they got hit with this nasty seven day long moodlet. So if you plan on gifting sweaters to significant others, it’s definitely worth completing the aspiration.

As fun as the failed knitting items and the forbidden sweater look in CAS, there are consequences to wearing them in game! 

The moment a sim puts them on, they’ll receive a negative moodlet:

Itchy Knits (From Clothing Item) It’s as if a thousand tiny insects are nibbling the flesh!

I’m a little disappointed that these aren’t feasibly wearable in game, but I’m sure someone will fix it with custom content. It does add another unique repercussion to knitting, though!

On a more wholesome note, the ‘teach to knit’ interaction is absolutely adorable. 🥰 Knox sat down with Bee, his daughter with my simself, and got her skill all the way to level four! 

Children can knit on their own without being taught, just like adults. But I have very fond memories of my grandma teaching me to crochet as a kid, so this was an interaction I was SUPER excited to see in the game.

I still feel like this is a small pack as far as physical content goes, but the gameplay is pretty fun. Plopsy is an amazing feature, and I definitely see myself using it often! Both with buying and selling, I really feel like it adds another layer to the game and gives more self employment opportunities for sims that don’t want a traditional career. 

There’s a bit of gameplay I feel like I didn’t get the chance to fully explore yet, but I’m looking forward to integrating it all into my game.

My initial reaction to playing this pack was disappointment, but I honestly think my expectations were too high. This is a stuff pack, it’s bound to be small. After a few days to sit and play around with it, the gameplay specifically grew on me. I still have a lot of mixed feelings - some things I really like and some things I’m just not crazy about at all (cough cough, buy mode. why did everyone vote in crazy pastels? it matches NOTHING). 

But with tempered expectations in mind, I would ultimately recommend this pack for the gameplay elements alone - especially to crafters. As always, different people enjoy different things. If this style of gameplay isn’t your cup of tea, pass it up or wait for a sale!

My OC's relationships on the Dream SMP

These are all characters, not the actual streamers! <3 It's also not all of them since I don't watch a few of them :) I harbour no hate towards the people behind the characters that I have issues with lmao

Awesamdude - Negative relationship - basically, he let Quackity get away with putting Techno away, let Tommy die and get revived by Dream and then never apologised, and then let ghostbur die and... wtf - Yeah we aren't friends. In another universe, if he weren't the warden, we might get along.

BadBoyHalo - He kinda gives me bad vibes - After the egg stuff I just don't really like to be around him... he killed Foolish and tried to kill everyone at the banquet which I just don't vibe with - I kinda understand why he joined the egg. I mean he was there for Skeppy which I think is ok, but he really went off the deep end. If he redeems himself, I'll be the first to befriend him (cautiously)

Callahan - Alright I taught him some American Sign Language for basic communication - I go and hang out with him whenever I feel like there's too much angst on the server, he's so neutral it's honestly relaxing.

Captain Puffy - We don't know each other very well - I mean I agree with her when it comes to the egg and she seems nice but it's hard to be friends with her when her son is Dream... poor Foolish, though.

Connor - I don't know how to feel about him - I don't have anything against him but... he just seems like someone I wouldn't get along with so I don't hang out with him. He is kinda funny tho

Dream - Ok, ok, he's just an ass - I'm not even gonna list why, you know why... I'm just saying. - I do feel bad for him since Quackity just beats the living shit out of him and he's already in prison so why...?

Dream XD - I fear no man... but that thing... it scares me. - Why his voice do that?? - I avoid him but if he approached me, I would be ok with being his friend, I mean he's a god. If I don't then I might die. Might as well use it to the fullest extent I can.

Eret - I don't really understand why he joined the opposing side during the L'Manburg war - I mean she's cool! I like their outfits and it's nice to have another queer person on the DSMP - I think we'd be good friends in another life, but our friend groups don't overlap very much, so it's hard to hang with them.

Foolish - Little bit scary ngl - Lightning go brrrrrr - I feel really bad for him since he's gotta be related to Dream and he died during the egg shit. That's just cruel. - also I don't really vibe with his personality but I do like to talk to him about his building ventures since I also love to build

Fundy - I feel sooooo bad for him - He's super cute, super sweet, and he just deserves more love - I plant sweet berries around his house to brighten his day whenever I can and I also feed his fox - I love to talk to him and he teaches me dutch sometimes because it's an interesting language. Also, he just deserves a good role model in his life... Like Will kinda sucked as his dad, Schlatt was not a good role model, and his friends don't really care about him. :( - Um also (IRL) he's the reason I started watching the DSMP, I love coding and Dutch so it was a very good mix for me

George - I sleep the opposite amount that he does. - I love his mushroom aesthetic but I stay away from him in fear of Dream XD. - I don't have a lot to say about him since he's not on the dsmp much

Jack Manifold - Yo he's lowkey annoying??? - Give Tommy his hotel back??? He died??? - If he were nicer to Tommy I'd be his friend but he's gotta get his shit together lmao

Jschlatt - Fuck that guy - bruh, he ruined L'Manburg?? - He drinks too much, not surprised he had a heart attack oof

Glatt - Ghost Schlatt gives me such chaotic evil vibes - I enjoy his presence much more than I enjoy his living presence. - I like the fact that he's kinda useless and can't do anything. It's like going to a zoo to see a creature you wouldn't want to see in the wild

Karl Jacobs - I feel bad that he's losing his memory, he's such a fun character. - I like to hang out with him but he makes me sad and also our friend groups do not vibe with each other oof

Niki Nihachu - She's super sweet and absolutely terrifying. - I love to help her bake and its super fun to try out new recipes with her - People really underestimate her and in return for her help with the baking, I help her train her fighting skills.

Philza - DADZA - I get in trouble with him a lot oof, I like to troll people so it happens quite a bit. Also, I take the blame for a lot of the stuff Techno and I get up to as well as with the bench trio. - He taught me how to sew and crochet so I can make my own clothes. I also build with him whenever he asks for help

Quackity - Scared. - He's rude and evil and I dislike him... gambling bad - I like Charlie and I think he's a good influence on Quackity but tbh I feel the same as Techno in this scenario. I am not a Quackity apologist!

Ranboo - I have the same vibe as him. We are one and the same. - I keep an eye on him during his enderwalks, he worries me sometimes. - Out of everyone in the bench trio, we get along the best. I take care of Michael sometimes when he's out doing Snowchester stuff with Tubbo.

Sapnap - I mean I dislike him a little, he throws off my vibe. - He's on the wrong side of everything imo, just stop being weird, big man... - Also I mean I don't understand why he threatened Dream with torture if he ever escaped. Like you don't have to tell him that, just do it? - We have very similar voices (IRL oh no) and so I'll mess with people by doing my best impression of him

Skeppy - One of the many victims of my trolling (with techno usually) - He's fun to hang out with for a while but I can't handle being around him for too long, he gives me a headache - Sometimes I wonder if he's actually made out of diamonds... should I kill him and see what happens?

Charlie (Slimecicle) - BEST BOY I LOVE HIM - HE'S SO CUTE DAP ME UP - Honestly, we get along soooo well, he reminds me of a slime for some reason, hmmmmmmmm - I try to teach him human-ness because if he doesn't want to look like a slime then there's no reason for me to say no

Technoblade - Ah yes the best one on the SMP - He did not like me at first, I can be a bit annoying oh no - Eventually, he got a soft spot for me since we have the same sense of humour and I love to mess with people - I sympathise with him, he deserves so much more than he's getting. - I wish he didn't express his emotions as anger all the time since it really affects everyone. He's got some anger issues and I try to deal with them with him.

TommyInnit - Omg I still find him annoying but I love to hang out with him like Wilbur does. - He needs to learn some boundaries but he is still a kid, so it doesn't really matter. I think people have to stop being little shits to him since his brain hasn't fully formed, like all adolescents. - He's very sweet sometimes and I appreciate his assistance in a lot of random tasks

Tubbo - I am allergic to bees so we can't hang too much - I like to chill with him and Ranboo and sometimes him and Tommy, but I'm always telling Tommy off for being a little shit to Tubbo. - I do not approve of his governmental ways, but his heart is in the right place. Also, why do you have nukes?

Wilbur Soot - Too much government, I do not approve - not a good father - Eventually, he stopped governmenting so whatever, no more animosity from me, eh?

Ghostbur - Awww he gave me blue - how dare he die twice - I love friend, I walked him sometimes. So glad he has infinite canon lives - I wish he had more time on the SMP, he's super sweet and his vibe is amazing

Revivebur - Alright he's kinda cool, I like his hair. - He doesn't have any governmental plans thank god - He's a bit worrying but he hasn't done anything yet. I'll just keep my eyes on him.

2p Romano

So I made a 2p Italy post a while ago and got an ask to do one for Romano so here it is! before I type anything I recommend looking at the one I did for Italy to get an idea of this ( link ) anyways back on topic, lets talk about my version of 2p Romano.

Romano’s childhood is kind of different from the canon one. most notably Spain made it his goal to avoid Romano. Belgium was usually busy helping Spain; the only person left to look after Romano was Netherlands. Netherlands usually isn’t the warmest of people, he is still blunt and sometimes harsh times. Romano liked how transparent Netherlands and how truthful he is, so naturally he just clinged on to him easier than anyone else in the entire building. Unlike the canon Romano who had at least 3 people to look up to my version only have one and being the attention starved child he was he kind of lowkey attached to him. Netherlands did find it strange how this child looked up to him since there is literally so many people in this entire building and out of all people he chooses him, but Romano did grow on him. Netherlands did feel pitiful towards Romano since no one was giving “her” any attention especially since this castle is a new environment in which it is easy to get lost from. Ned did missed having a younger sibling around. You could be asking about belgium, but keep in mind she is busy with Spain which also translated onto the fact that to Netherlands Belgium practically isn’t here anymore. They hanged out when Romano is having his break from not doing any work and their personalities did rub off on each other a bit. Spain had to leave one day saying he was visiting someone (Italy who got at that time recently amnesia). Romano found that strange, but continued with whatever he was doing. Netherlands found a box full of crochet equipment and went to Romano like “hey, look what i found, do you want to learn how to do this” and since there is nothing to do he tries it and at first he was bad at it and got frustrated, but Netherlands kept pushing him to at least try making 5 squares and if he still thinks it looks bad then he will allow him to quit. The squares did slowly became better and better and Romano in his head was like “wow i did this??????This is actually fun!” and made more even when Netherlands wasn’t there. It was his hobby and later a way for him to vent and somewhat cope to the news. Romano got a letter from Austria/Spain about Italy a few months after Spain left, Romano being a hot headed kid that he is believed that letter was a joke and decided to travel to Austria’s place alone without anyone knowing (which looking back at it as an adult Romano realized that was a stupid thing to do) and when he finally arrived Spain Austria and Hungary tried to stop Romano from entering not knowing that behind that door was someone different, he looked and sounded like Italy, but he is obviously not Italy. Romano saw a stranger. Anyway Romano blows up when Italy acts like he can’t remember the many recent things that happens and after finding that talking to Italy about it was useless he goes towards the adults who tried to not be clear on it except for Hungary who told him what happened with Italy and boy did Romano exploded. No one under any circumstances is allowed to hurt his brother other the only person who is allowed to do it is him. Sadly he was dragged home and needed to wait for a long long time until he could see his brother again.

okay so now let’s talk about Adult Romano of my universe. Where do I begin? the dude is an attention wh*re. Even if someone took a glance at him that is enough to make him feel happy. He loves creating his own clothes and designs and will not stop talking about it and will somehow shift the conversation towards his clothes. Romano is very overbearing to the people he is close to and over dramatic and annoying to everyone else. He worries and cares for Vene a lot and Seborga as well as much as they appreciate it it can be too much. His relationship with the Tomato gang as an adult is petty complicated (almost like in canon lol) He is very close to Netherlands and they would trust each other with secrets so strong that that they won’t tell anyone else with, he is neutral about Belgium (he does find her pretty though), Luxemburg seems cool, He doesn’t know how to feel about Spain considering that Spain did try to stay away from him he still wonders what their friendship could have been like if they were more open, he find Portugal strange. Then we have the Axis, we already spoke about Italy so let's go to Germany. Just like in the canon he is jealous of Germany because of how close his brother is compared to him in here he will go out of his way to make Germany like his servant and will call him to help him when the smallest inconvenience happens as his way of revenge. Their convos are usually like “hey Ger-man I have a question!”  “huh yah what is it?”   “how do I put a book on a shelf again? I seem to forget”  “please tell me you are joking”  “wow rude, I always knew you were a brat from childhood, but this a whole new low”  “fine I will come over and show you”  “thanks!”. Strange thing here is that he is pretty kind to Japan although it have to do with China, Romano would buy Japan small gifts which confuses the hell out of Japan (now typing it I feel like China is the divorce parent of Japan and Romano is trying to win Japan’s approval to marry him-). Now we have the strange 3. I will start on China to fix any confusion on the Japan part. Romano is friends with China, but they are not really that close it is more of them teasingly annoy each other just for fun, like Romano touching China’s Jewelry (China hates when people touch his stuff especially when they are “too poor” for it, but he considers everyone that so eh) and China would pay him money telling him “I am sorry that this the only thing you can live off for the month, but i hope it helps” and it is just counterfeit money. Next we have America who loves to make videos of himself doing stupidly dumb stuff and Romano likes to join in because he likes getting the attention even if it is from strangers online, everyone's surprise why there isn’t a law about leaving these 2 alone together considering the whole bank incident (you guys shall never know what happened). Last but not least we have Lithuania, Romano deeply cares for him and is usually concerned with the guy, but he have no idea what to do so he usually just tries to hang out with him and refuses to talk about anything slightly negative worrying that it will hurt his mood (Lithuania doesn’t really care at this point, but still appreciate Romano’s efforts) they are tea/coffee drinking buddies.
