The silence was strong, you could hear an sort of movement that the base would make. Someone turning a faucet or a pen dropping. You sat on your bed with puffy red eyes as Simon stood frozen in the middle of your room. You had to tell him before Price announced it to the team.

You fought about for weeks about the orders telling Price to basically buzz off. That this was your team. Your family. So Price being Price tried to have the commander that wanted you on their task force at bay. Until today. Price asked to meet him in the office after the another successful mission.

“Commander Graves is getting impatient y/n,” Price said lowering his voice as you shut the door. “I’m sorry I tried.”

When he handed you the envelope you laughed darkly. “You gotta be shitting me Price.”

“I wish Sargent.” He said frowning, he sat in his chair for a moment before sighing. “He wants you tomorrow night. They are going on their own assignment that they need you on.”

You glared at the envelope, you could rip it to pieces and say to hell with it. But now it’s in writing and pretty sure this Commander Graves made more copies. After a long silence Price stood up to place a hand on your shoulder. “1400 the last plane to the force leaves. Better start saying your goodbyes.”

So immediately you looked out for Simon going from hallway to hallway. Building to building. He had to be the first one to know. You and him had been together for about 9 months now. Secretly no one knew. Maybe they did find out and you were being punished this way. Instead of insubordination, that’s why Price didn’t say anything for a while.

When you found him he was walking with Johnny getting cleaned up from the previous mission. “Lass! There ya are! What did the capt…”

“Not now Johnny,” You snapped, feeling guilty right after. “I need to speak with you privately Lieutenant.”

Simon snapped his eyes over to Soap who was standing in awe before looking down at you. “‘Ight, catch up with ya, yeah.” He said to Johnny who nodded to his reply.

Now you were both here, sitting in your room. You handed the envelope first as he opened it slowly. Simon was confused at first as he read before snapping his head up. “What does it mean your leavin’?” He growled, you thought he was mad at you.

“I don’t know some Commander down in the US needs me there,” You sighed wiping your eyes. “Says that they need a Lieutenant there.”

“But ya not a Lieutenant.” He said gripping the paper.

You inhaled deeply, you pointed to the paper. “Read more Simon.”

That’s where he froze and just re read the words over and over again. “By the United States Commander in Chief Hershel Shepard, you have been promoted to Lieutenant y/l/n as of February 20th, 2022.”

Simon couldn’t believe it, you were leaving back to the states after years on being on the force. He just got you. Finally figuring out what he has felt for months being with you. Caring for you. Maybe even love you. Now you were being taken away. He heard you sniffling bringing him back into reality.

You watched as slowly he brought his head up, being faced with his skull mask. His painted eyes looking right at you. “No we are talkin’ to Price maybe he can…”

“Already tried that.”

“‘Ight then we go to Shepard himself maybe talk to him…”

“Simon, we can’t he is the head honcho. He is the one ordering this by Commander Graves too. So there isn’t any way around this.”

Simon scoffed. “Why have you given up? It’s like you don’t want to fight for this.”

You scoffed back and rose from the bed. “I have been dealing with this for two months now. We have been trying Simon. You think I want to leave them. To leave us?”

Simon stood there for a moment, emotions coming through that he never would think that he would have. All the things you both have been through. It all started because of pent up emotions that both of you didn’t know how to release besides having sex. Then came the attachments. Laughter. Jokes. Bantering. Hell even the fighting.

Simon stood there for another moment debating on just leaving the room. He doesn’t know how to deal with this situation. The more he stared at you the less he wanted to leave, he wanted more time.

“Maybe it won’t be forever ya know? Maybe it is just a train up for his team and that’s that.”

Simon knew better than to think like that, think that there is hope. You were always better than him in that aspect. Looking for the light at the end. Simon sighed and walked to you as he sat next to you. He started to lay down and guiding you down with him. “Maybe.” He mumbled.

You followed him down placing your head on his chest as he combed through your hair. You sighed as you thought about everything both of you have been through. You chuckled making Simon break a smile. “What is it?” He asked softly.

“Remember when I first started on the team and I thought you liked sugary coffee,” He groaned as he laughed a little bit more. “Then like 2 months later you finally broke and said that you only like tea and not the sugary shit.”

Simon nodded his head. “Blood hell pretty sure I gained a few pounds from just one cup,” You giggled as you looked up at him. “I won’t forget when the grenade landed next to you and Johnny during training. You tossing it to Johnny and him passing it back to you. Fumbling it like two blokes.”

You slapped his chest. “Hey! That wasn’t entirely my fault. The damn private didn’t pull the pin so I thought to give it to him. Well I remember beating you at sparring.”

Simon gave a fake shocked look. “Technically I did, it turned to the tie breaker”

You glared at him in curiosity before turning red. “The tie breaker doesn’t count.”

Simon gently grabbed your chin with his thumb and index. “If it wasn’t for the tie breaker I would be here with ya, love.”

You half smiled, tearing up again. “I will come back Si.”

Simon’s heart started to ache as he inhaled deeply. “And I’ll be waitin’.”

ESPECIALLY famous men cause fame fucks with your psyche, so while i really do adore the version of himself that he presents to the general public, i also try as a general rule to never be too emotionally invested in celebrities. because at the end of the day they are human beings and we see barely a fraction of who they really are. i think a lot of what we as fans see from him is his genuine personality but it is only part of it. we should never assume we really and truly know a celebrity based on how they present themselves to the public. if we did that then by those standards we’d believe almost every celebrity is absolutely perfect and that is just false. by virtue of being a human, which celebrities are and always have been first and foremost, you are going to be messy and probably do some fucked up stuff in your life. i know i’ve done some fucked up stuff in my life and it would be ridiculous to believe that mgg has never done anything fucked up in his life, as it would be ridiculous to assume that about any person ever.

so by adoring and becoming overly emotionally dependent on who you think a celebrity is as a person, you are setting yourself up for inevitable disappointment. if you idolize someone and can’t accept that they are human and have done fucked up shit just like you or me or your best friend or your parents or whoever, you will be crushed when you find out they’re not perfect. which is why i think cancel culture is so fucking dumb. imagine if everyone in your life found out about that mean thing you said to your friend once when you were really mad 10 years ago and all collectively decided to abandon you and shame you and harass you and label you as worthless forever. that is so so crazy. imagine any time you made a mistake or poor choice and how disproportionate it would be to be fired and shunned socially and bullied relentlessly by everyone for that mistake or choice. that’s the standard we hold celebrities to.

so i really would not be surprised to learn that mgg was like a really bad friend one time or made a bad choice or something. but would that alter my worldview and crush my soul? no! i have also been a bad friend and made bad choices! and sometimes continue to make bad choices! circling back to life is messy and humans are messy and things aren’t black and white!

i think it’s important to understand that he is literally just some guy who happens to be famous and he has flaws just like the rest of us. i’m not invested in his being a perfect person, i have no allusions that he’s always and exclusively exactly the way he acts with his fans, and am able to critique him when i think he does something weird or annoying LOL. that said i really like him! i think he’s funny and interesting and seems really kind! but me liking him does not hinge on him being flawless and angelic.

so basically if you’re going to be crushed when it comes out that your fav did something bad, then unstan because i can promise you with 1000% certainty that literally every single celebrity you like has done something fucked up and weird and bad just like every single person on the face of the planet has or will!

OH BOY how the fuck do I explain this shit

Ok so basically back in very early January I decided to draw Silver Spoon.. but pregnant. AS A JOKE-

Then my gf (@humanaltarr) posted the pic, and a few of my moots on Tumblr saw it, and at first I was like "Welp this is the end of my Tumblr career" and I think just a few hours later one of my moots (@spiritmander13) wrote the first Silver Spoon mpreg fic called "Silver Suffers With Morning Sickness" with 6 chapters (technically 7 but the 7th isn't involved with the story)

Then Silver Spoon mpreg became a big joke mostly on the oscc discord I believe (I joined it for a few days but left) and then for a while it was quiet, until I started an ask blog called @askthe-iii-shipchildren, on April 5th, and on April 30th I got an ask by an anonymous person where they wanted Candelabra to put Silver Spoon in a maid dress, and I ended up drawing Silver in a maid dress

Now here's were the second Silver mpreg era began. I made a joke with Candle saying "If Silver stays in that for much longer Candelabra is gonna have a little sibling soon" cuz I thought it would be funny (had no idea what it would cause)

Then @spiritmander13 reblogged it and said something like "CANDLE NO-" and I replied back saying "Silver Spoon mpreg part 2 /j" AS A JOKE. She told me not to start it again, and I said "Aw shucks" but in the tags of that reblog, I said "Time to draw Silver pregnant in a maid dress" and that's where I messed up since Spiritmander said they were intimidated.

Suddenly, I got tagged in a post by Spiritmander, and it seemed to be a screenshot of them saying "Don't tell Infinite, my sins shall stay hidden until it is the right time (I scrolled for like 20 minutes on their blog to find that fucking hell)

Then I got a little spooked cuz yk it's not everyday shit like this happens. I then screenshotted it and went into her inbox with the screenshot and asked "WHAT IS RHIS, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN" and she replied with another screenshot and it said "*Casually steals Tumblr mutuals fankid for the story*" and that's when I knew what was happening.

Soon, Spiritmander posted another Silver Spoon mpreg fic called "Little Moth"

Then it was a little quiet after that, with me making an occasional joke about it, always ending it with Spirit saying "HEY YOU STARTED IT!"

There is also this whole thing with "Bab Incest" Spirit did but I wasn't involved with that

Then the (sort of) mpreg era 3 started again. I'll put this part simply and say that me and a few other people on osc Tumblr got asks in our inboxes by "Anon~Chan" that were basically like a shitty Wattpad story but with II characters, and I personally got a Silverloon mpreg thing.. so fun..

And the most recent thing that happened. There was a Two x Jax post, and me, Mc, and Spirit were basically joking more about Silver Spoon mpreg in the reblogs, until Spirit came along and said "Silver Spoon simp trio canceled." And me and Mc were absolutely DEVASTATED and then Spirit said that me and Mc had to write Silver Spoon mpreg as well, for me as punishment for drawing it and confusing the original poster, and for Mc.. dunno..

It actually causes quite a few fights between Chase and her, eventually he admits that he thinks you like her and that she’s choosing you over him

She tries to be understanding, assuring him that she doesn’t like you and that she’s sorry that he feels that way. She promises that she’ll spend more time with him

But his comments are exactly what launches her into thinking about her relationship with you.

She’s straight, right? She’s never had feelings for a girl before, and she doesn’t have feelings for you. You’re just friends. Best friends! It doesn’t matter that you make her happier then she’s been with anyone since her husbands death, that she feels so relaxed around you, that she’s more herself with you then with anyone else, that your actually really fucking cute-

You continue your rambling until you notice that she is just staring at you

You take it as her trying to figure out how to kindly say she can’t continue this friendship.

In reality her brain seems to be in error mode because did you just say you liked her?!

“I’m really sorry,” you finally said. “I’ll… I’ll leave you alone from now on.” You turned to leave her alone in the room but ate stopped by Alison’s hand on your arm.

“Wait, y/n-“ she quickly says, causing you to turn and look at her. It’s then that you notice the look in her eyes. It’s not a look of pity that you would expect from someone who has to tell another person they don’t love them back, it’s a look of… is that fear?

“I don’t not want to be friends with you,” she quickly said. “I didn’t stop hanging out with you because I thought you had a crush on me- in fact I didn’t think you did at all! I didn’t think you’d ever like me, but Chase thought you did and it made me think about how I felt around you and it scared me and I didn’t know what to do and-“

“Wait wait wait, Ali, slow down.” You reached out to hold her by the shoulders. “Take a breath,” you told her and she followed your directions. “What do you mean by ‘how you feel around me’?”

Cameron looked at you for a moment, clearly unsure of what to say. But you were patient. You rubbed circles on her shoulders with your thumb where you were holding her, and you gave her a soft smile that she loved so much.

“You… you make me happy.” Alison finally said. “A happiness I didn’t think I was ever going to feel with someone again. And it- it scared me. I’ve never felt this way with a woman.”

Your eyes searched Alison’s face, as though trying to find any lie in her words. You wouldn’t get your hopes up, you couldn’t get your hopes up. If she didn’t mean what you thought she meant, it would be devastating.

“Alison Cameron, I love you.” You got the words to leave your mouth. “How do you feel about me?”

Alison’s breath caught in her throat when you said that to her, and she wasn’t sure what else to say then: “I think… I think I love you too.”

At those words you couldn’t help the smile that came over your face, and you were pulling her into your arms for a hug, and after a second you pulled back to kiss her lips.

It was short, and you quickly pulled back to gage her reaction

She looked at you with wide eyes before a shy smile came over her face.

‘Can I kiss you again?’

And absolutely you did.

And while you did she did her best to not think about Chase, she once this was done she’d have to go to him and tell him they couldn’t be together anymore, that she had found someone else

Regarding me saying that ayesha is more qualified to talk about transgender people as a trans person, i mean that while i find her tweets to be disgusting, i know there are some detrans people even on here who think that 12 is possibly too early for the medical transition that kim had. Its not really my place to say as a cis person, thats what i meant. I think at the very least its complicated and while you can say its great for people to transition that early, i think its great for some people to, and probably harmful to others based on personal anecdotes that ive read.

FFXIV feels like a weird tv series in terms of how I feel about each expansion

1.0 is the pilot season that people agree was bad but there was charm to it. It had its moments and if given a better writing staff and perhaps more budget. It could of been something great. But the season’s cancelled now so we’ll just have to post on the forums about missing its charms.

ARR feels like the reluctant second season after they got cancelled after the first season. It airs on SciFi (or however the fuck they’re spelling it nowadays) at a 1am dead block in hopes to never see it again. Its rough around the edges, the writing has some spots to be desired, the costuming is iffy but functional and all it all it becomes a cult classic.

Post-ARR is a lost season, extra materials, some unconnected filler but a few episodes that actually link back and boy does the finale really shake things up. Causing a massive fandom to grow around it and pester executives for a third season.

Heavensward is the return of the king. Final Fantasy XIV is back, it has budget, production, and cast and man with the special effects blow you out of the fucking water. After the Post-HW you hear stories about the cast loving their time on set and with the directors and really getting invested in the “characters”.

Stormblood is the unlucky season which has big shoes to fill cause its coming up after Heavensward and like thats like being the Dark Knight Rises after the Dark Knight right? And while it comes close to Heavensward. Some studio heads got involved and wanted to change stuff up because they saw another TV show do it and thats super popular so why don’t we do that? It returns to being a bit rough around the edges but the new villains really are here to chew the scenery and be memorable as all get out.

Post-SB is uneasy, it feels like the execs aren’t happy it didn’t bring in billions like the Heavensward Season did. Some actors go on to different projects and its really up in the air where its going to go. Are we going to stay in Ala Mhigo? Are we going to stay in Doma? Going to Garlemald is on the table. And this new Solus character just seems like Lahabrea but then BAM! The Call Episode happens and everyone is fucking LOSING THEIR GODDAMN MINDS! There are leaked trailer footage online and Y’shtola is now Master Matoya, Urianger is half naked and IS THANCRED WIELDING A GUNBLADE?! WHAT THE FUCK!?

Shadowbringers hits and it is the best thing on television since sliced bread. Everyone is invested, the budget is back, the writing hits hard, the Solus character is changed and given new dimension. Everyone is up in arms about fist fighting Thancred over his initial treatment of Ryne. There’s fan art of Runar and Y’shtola even though the actors are just good friends. And that Finale? Holy shit. There is some sleeper episodes like the second Amh Araeng arc but the emotional pay off of seeing Minfilia return for a last cameo is well received.

Post-Shadowbringers is making the most of the new world sets. Tying up lose ends, here and there. Setting up the next big bad with this Fandaniel dude and Zenos being back by fandom demand. But the mid-season finale has everyone hooked, I mean after the Seat of Sacrifice arc, who can top that?

Endwalker hits, a love letter season. Some stuff feels overtly long, like was an entire half an episode necessary to show extras turning into monsters. But the baby rescue episodes has people emotionally invested, the loporitts are beloved, everyone loses their shit that Zodiark is introduce and fought only like five episodes into a 24 episode season. Speculation flies left and right and then they get the Elpis and the Ancientsona Fandom from Shadowbringers’ initial season is reignited. People are getting into fights whether to fight or protect Meteion and everyone cries at the finale of the Ultima Thule arc.

Now we’re in the after season of Endwalker, its had sort of monster of the week villains. We’ve seen some cool set design in the Thirteenth Shard and this Golbez character seems like a stand in until they figure out what to do next. But everyone is absolutely LOVING this Zero character. Nidhana’s fandom is also reignited. And there is some debate over Vrtra and his avatars but everyone is also absolutely losing their shit on whats going down in Pandaemonium and with the Twelve. Though its getting close to the end of the season and people are wondering where we’re off to next.

It drives me absolutely crazy when people say they don't know what cassandra is about. Because y'all I fucking know what it's about. I wanna say like 2 years ago. It might have been longer. I'm not good at remembering time. I have ADHD But a really long time ago ish, An article came out and it was the full conversation between taylor and kanye about the famous music video. So it was the full phone call. I don't know if it was just one article, But I only ever saw one article. And not only does it completely vindicate. Taylor because since day one, there was no video of her approving the most offensive parts of the video and song. But it also shows that she advised him not to release the song because it would be controversial. Which let us remember, The only reason that they went after taylor in the first place, Was because kanye was getting so much shit about how creepy and weird that fucking song and video were. Like, They one hundred percent ruined taylor's life to avoid consequences for their own actions.

And obviously it didn't ruin her entire career and she ended up being fine And obviously it didn't ruin her entire career and she ended up being fine, But she was definitely traumatized. Like personally, I was low-key traumatized by how many people were absolutely gas? Lighting me and saying that she was a liar when she didn't lie about anything. She barely even complained. And again, No, She wasn't " Canceled" In the sense that she didn't lose any money or fame, But it was still very traumatizing for her to go through that. Because you have to remember, Kanye West Called her a bitch said that he made her famous and then put A wax figure of her body in a bed with him. His wife and bill cosby a person who had very recently been accused of rape. Then when she accepted an award and said " Don't let anyone take credit for your success" He and his wife got all of their followers to harass her and call her a liar. When she literally told him not to release it because it was gonna be super controversial. So just put yourself in that position for a hot minute.

Bringing us back to the point, That is what cassandra is about. "When it's burned the bitch they're screaming" aka "They're burning all the witches, even if you aren't one." She's talking about the original edited phone call. "When the truth comes out it's quiet" She's talking about how when the full phone call came out, nobody mentioned it. Which it is evidenced by the fact that none of you all know what the song is about. Like so, many people are confused about the meaning of this song. It's crystal clearest day my friends. But none of you all know, Because when the truth comes out, it's quiet.

Also I don't know where that leak came from, But only a limited number of people had access to the video. So personally, I think, That it came from something around the time. Kim and Kanye broke up. Like I Personally think that taylor may have offered some sort of evidence to kim that allowed her to keep custody of her kids al la vigilante shit. And she asked them to "leak" the full phone call in order to receive that information. And she might have expected it to be this whole huge thing. But it ended up that nobody really gave a shit. Or maybe she didn't have anything to do with it, but it leaked because of whatever reason, And still, Nobody gave a shit. Which this absolutely infuriated me to at the time. I was like "JUSTICE" And I was the only person who even knew about it.

Anyway taylor, I know this is soliloquy, you will never see, But I was out there in the trenches in the streets. I was like "y'all. She never said it was okay. She didn't approve the video. Y'all are all calling her a liar For no reason!!!!" Like to this day. I am still so angry about this. It's to the point Where I have like ended conversations on dating apps because of this, I have unfollowed content creators. Because I don't like it when they get the facts wrong, And I have like completely soured on people as friends if they talk about this and they don't know what they're talking about. Or at least Let me explain it to them.

Is taylor a flawed person? Yes. But ultimately the thing that was the issue about this is that she was really under the radar. Like prior to this, People just said taylor seems like a nice girl but she dates around a lot and her music is kind of boring. None of those things are true. Except the fact that she's nice, she does seem very nice, Or at least all accounts of her are that she's very nice. And they did obviously bother her, But, They really weren't that bad. After that story came out, People were doing what you see them doing now, Like everyone was knit picking her. It became popular to talk about how stupid she was or how out of touch she was or how racist she was. When she literally didn't do anything usually. And people would just like attack her for like wearing the wrong color. And they still do, Like so, many people criticize her and they know it's gonna get views because it's just gonna be popular to talk shit about her. That environment did not exist before. There was definitely a lot of people saying that she was just lame but that was true of everyone who was popular in music at the time. Like In twenty twelve I graduated high school, And when I went to college, everyone was making fun of hipsters, The phrase "I liked ___ before they were cool" was literally on everyone's lips. So, While yeah, it does suck that people were talking shit about her and how she was boring and not had a good writer even though she was, They were pretty much saying that about any popular white girl making music. And while they Did criticize her dating life, They were doing that for everyone else too.

After The whole phone call situation, The vitriol towards her never really went away. And someone mentioned it in a podcast. I was listening to, But they were like for someone who was just so inoffensive. As a person, people are so polarized when they talk about her. Like you Either absolutely love her or absolutely hate her. And by the way, Swifties did not become rabid until after this situation. Because like I said, we felt very gaslight because she literally didn't do anything wrong. And for years, All anyone's sad when they talked about her was just dunking on her. So unless you were like AP. H d level expert and taylor swift, Most people just thought she was an asshole. Like I've seen people say that. She never thanked Beyoncé for giving her time. After kanye stole her speech in the VMAs, But she is so nice to Beyoncé. And they have a good friendship. Like she sends beyonce flowers and she always hypes up Beyonce. I don't think they're bestie's. But I definitely think they have a good relationship. But you wouldn't know about that because at the time, This was pre eras tour, All you saw of taylor was criticism. Unless it was a swiftie talking.

And the other aspect of this that is similar to cassandra, the myth. Is that this was the beginning of kanye being unhinged. And I truly think if he had gotten the appropriate backlash that he should have gotten from the famous video. And he wasn't able to just put it on someone else like he did with taylor, He probably wouldn't be a nazi right now. Like I honestly feel bad for kanye More than anything else because it is so clear to me that he is having a Mental health spiral that is related to the death of his mother. I don't know if it's about her death, but like she was managing it with him before and he doesn't have that now. And if he wasn't rich, he would probably be in inpatient psychiatric care. That decision might have been easier for him to make. Or the people around him to make, If he had gotten the proper backlash for trying to harass. Taylor and bully her. But instead in that pivotal moment, He learned that he can pretty much get away with whatever he wants as long as he blames someone else. So even if you like kanye, It's clear that his fame is causing him to suffer. And the whole thing just enabled that suffering. Because no one held him accountable for what he did. And of course, Kim is worst of all here. Because she has a law degree, She is fully capable of making good decisions, And rather than calling him out and telling him that he was not doing something right, Or pushing back on the harmful behavior he did, She completely enabled his actions. And I think that's why Taylor gets more mad at Kim. Because when you look at kanye, he is just not in his right mind, it's very clear. But kim absolutely could have stopped this train at any point. And if you think about it, Taylor was the one who first show us all this. She was the one who pointed out that he was being a bully. But hey, Why listen to Her? She's just some boring white girl, right?

Anyway, If you are wondering what the song cassandra is about, That's when it's about. And I absolutely love the myth of cassandra and everyone should look into it.

Here’s my two cents on Haley Pullos that no one asked for.

What she did was awful. Truly. Getting into the drivers seat of a vehicle when you’re hammered is literally the dumbest fuckin thing you can do. She caused a wreck and gave major injuries to another driver. Allegedly was responsible for another hit and run incident that night too. Treated the first responders and the hospital staff like dirt. And got a DUI, rightfully so.

Now of course the GH fandom is boycotting…cancelling…whatever you wanna call it. There’s a large amount of people calling for her to be fired. I’ll be honest. It seems a bit ridiculous to me.

The girl is typically on the show maybe…twice a month, if that even. In fact this current storyline for Molly has shown us more Molly in the last couple of months than we’ve probably seen her in the last 5 or 6 years. Most of Molly’s stories happen off screen (money problems, domestic partnership, studying law and becoming the assistant DA, I can’t even name any other story she’s been in prior to those blips since like…2013 when they had her interacting with Rafe, the kid that belonged to the supernatural characters from Port Charles). Considering we’ve never really heard a single bad thing about the actress in all these years it seems a bit dumb to roast her at the stake for one mistake, even if it’s a big one. While I have never personally drove while under the influence, I can list tons of people her age that stupidly did. Some lived to regret it, some were lucky enough to not have caused harm. But if she isn’t driving drunk to work, being professional while at work, and doing what is required of her while at work, then I don’t see why GH should fire her.

NOW HAVING SAID THAT. I do think she needs to step down from the role of her own free will, and take a good look in the mirror because this shit will not fly if she wants to continue to have a career in acting. I’ve always noticed from her social media that she’s definitely a wild child who enjoys partying. Let’s face it, most of us did too, in our early 20’s. But that reckless decision she made on top of the way she allegedly treated those staff while inebriated?

This girl has the personality of someone who seems entitled and spoiled rotten. Let’s face it, she can definitely afford a cab or Uber or Lyft or whatever is out there in LA for transportation. Even if she perhaps went somewhere in her own car not intending to drink but ended up doing so, you can still definitely be smart enough to leave your car there and pick it up the next day. Even if it’s towed or ticketed she could probably pay the bill easily. Or just choose not to drink since you do have your car.

Even this whole “checking herself into rehab” thing seems like a false way of trying to save her image rather than getting the help she needs, partially because she decided to do it AFTER the news broke out but also because driving drunk doesn’t necessarily mean you’re an alcoholic and need rehab, it does for sure mean that you’re not good at making decisions and perhaps that can be managed and sorted through regular therapy.

Anyway, bottom line is, I don’t think Haley should lose her job, but I do think she needs to step down, take responsibility for what she did, get the help she needs and only when she’s up for it, claim her job again.

Thess vs Other Systems

Okay. So. News on the Wizards of the Coast OGL Debacle.

Apparently, WotC has delayed their announcement about OGL 1.1, owing to community backlash. I mean, it probably doesn’t hurt that so many people went to unsubscribe to D&D Beyond (for those who don’t know, WotC bought it awhile back) that it literally crashed the servers. Some people have said something about how they used that to move the unsubscribe button so that people would have a harder time unsubscribing, but other people say “No, that didn’t happen” so it might be true or it might be a regional thing or it might just be people not knowing where to look, I dunno. Point is, WotC went, “Oop, now is not the time to be announcing the thing”.

Note I said nothing about them cancelling the thing. It just means they won’t announce yet. Some credible sources who actually work with D&D Beyond (anonymous for obvious reasons) have said that they’re basically waiting for the whole community backlash to blow over before they announce OGL 1.1 as leaked. There’s a chance they’ll make a few small walkbacks if the backlash doesn’t blow over, but ... I mean, come on; we’ve seen this before. Video games do this all the time, and WotC is on record as saying that they want to monetise like video games do. It stands to reason that they’d take the same, “We’ll do something really egregious and when the backlash happens, we’ll do something a little less egregious but still egregious and they’ll be happy that we’re ‘listening to our customers’ but we’re still fleecing them” line as, say, EA or SquareEnix or any other AAA video game company that flourishes by causing its customer base a thousand tiny bankruptcies by microtransaction.

So Paizo, not willing to pay royalties to Hasbro for Pathfinder under the threatened OGL 1.1, is now looking at starting the Open RPG Creative Licence (ORC, because of course). Now, this obviously has its advantages, but it does mean that we’d be looking at a whole new system. I don’t know how far they’d have to go with changes for WotC to not have a leg to stand on if they wanted to say “This is clearly predicated on our work so it falls under the OGL”, but this is going to take some time no matter what, and it’s also going to take adjustment for a lot of people, not all of whom are particularly good with adjustments or big changes. So what I’m saying is that it’s going to take awhile before we can all be happily creating content under the ORC, and some people might not manage it even then.

I guess what I’m saying is please think before you start yelling at people to “Try another system!” The ones who are dunking on D&D as a system simply because it’s D&D, rather than what WotC are trying to do to it after purchasing a nearly-insolvent TSR in 1997. Both times the fans got up in arms at D&D, it was because of some shit WotC did; 4th edition, and now this. I was in the gaming community both times, in point of fact ... and the first time, I was sort of stuck on the opposite end of the ‘battle lines’, if you like.

See, when you first get into TTRPGs, odds are pretty high that it’s because you met someone who’s into it and wants another player. That’s ... not quite how it started for me, but my attempted GURPS Mage party fell apart before I got a handle on the system anyway and then life got really batshit. So some years later, I fell in with a guy who was playing in a 7th Sea group - this was 1st ed Panache System, so y’know. And they were death on D&D. No one could so much as mention D&D without starting the whole damn table in on a whole bunch of drama-kid vitriol about how “D&D is nothing but hack-and-slash dungeon-crawl with no story! No one really roleplays in D&D!” I was also with them when the 4e thing started, and that apparently just proved their point. I mean, they were wrong on all counts, but I wasn’t to know, because I believed them when they said that D&D was only for those who liked the crunch. I really dislike the fact that I ended up a snob by proxy.

Not to say that I didn’t use different systems back then, incidentally. As well as Panache, I used White Wolf’s system for World of Darkness and Exalted. I don’t remember exactly what system we used when playing that brief ill-fated Buffyverse campaign, or the Firefly one-shot. Also don’t remember what system Fading Suns used but I have the book somewhere (I also have the core book for the Angel RPG, come to that). Had some fun with Big Eyes, Small Mouth. Wrote my own at one point - I probably want to revamp it, but it could be useful one of these days. I used a lot of other systems.

Point is, yes, I came to D&D through Critical Role. Not because I hadn’t heard of TTRPGs - far, far from it. Not even because I hadn’t heard of D&D, because I think you’d have to live in a cave not to have at least had the concept brought up. I came to D&D through Critical Role because it was the first time I’d ever seen people playing it and actually telling a story. I literally did not think that was possible. I had no the hell idea, because everyone I’d ever talked to about it was telling me no, it was just ... well, loot and shoot with swords and fireballs, and got so venomous about the subject that I didn’t want to ask for fear of getting snapped at again. And I found the system massively approachable, with just enough rigidity to give a good framework but still maintaining enough flexibility to let a DM go with the flow. ...Critical Role also demonstrated that I could do it remotely, with my long-time friends - because if Ashley and Liam could Skype in, why couldn’t we all? No, I had not heard of Roll20 at that point. I learned pretty damn fast, I tell you what.

So now we’re coming to another moment where people are getting venomous about D&D. Some people are justifiably angry at WotC about pulling this shit and don’t want to grace WotC with any more money (though while I’m at it, I should mention that this should also apply to Magic cards; hell, I’m even a little off about buying more Lego, even though I really want more Lego, because Hasbro). That’s fine. I get that. But the game itself isn’t to blame. The 5e rule set was out there long before WotC started pulling this shit. I guess I’m mostly talking to people who think that loving their favourite TTRPG system means a contractual obligation to shit all over other systems - or at least the Popular Kid they perceive as taking all the attention from their beloved. I notice that a lot of these are Pathfinder fans. I’m not judging Pathfinder on the basis of its fans, incidentally. I might be judging Pathfinder a little on the basis of the video game version. And that character sheet - HOLY SHIT NO; some of my players forget their basic Feats on 5e so I don’t know how we’d cope with this.

Actually, reminds me of when we tried Shadowrun. I mean, the book was not overly approachable as it was - it was written by fans who already knew the game inside and out, and thus was written for fans who already knew the game inside and out. This could be considered to make a hefty barrier for the new player. Also, I tend to think that having to roll that many dice for anything other than epic damage that causes either shouts of triumph or wails of despair (depending on whether it’s coming from allies or enemies) is painful, and can honestly slow up a campaign, especially when you’re playing at home and you have to try to remember how many dice fell off the table and determine if any rolled under the sofa.

POINT IS. Not every system is for everyone, and if you find a system you like, that should be fine. Forcing someone to try a system for any reason is basically going to guarantee a negative reaction most of the time. Do I plan on giving WotC any more of my money? Not until they wise the fuck up, if indeed they ever do (doubtful, but I have my optimistic moments). Do I plan on ever touching OneD&D? Not a snowflake’s chance in hell. Do I plan on continuing my campaign, and the next, with 5e? Yes. If this OGL 1.1 comes out as leaked at any point, do I intend to inform them that I am still in the process of writing my own campaign setting guide, only to be given to my fellow players in this campaign and the next? Nooooooope. Point is I like 5e. Other systems are good too, but I like 5e, my players like it, we’re good.

...Okay, so I might still be leery about the YouTube vids of my sessions, and I have plans to remove my three little bits of third-party 5e content from the Dungeon Master’s Guild the minute I get so much as a hint of OGL 1.1 being a thing, but unless they have CIA-level surveillance, they can’t stop me from using what I already own.

Found ants in the apartment, which caused Major Upset with partner due to relatively recent traumatic experiences with living conditions involving ants inside of living spaces. Which is understandable. Got me thinking about how i grew up with just a lot of little beasties invading the places i inhabited and while i'm grateful for the experience it does sort of...idk. feels weird. feels like something i never really examined before and like...idk.

i need to get to a doctor to make sure i get the necessary paperwork completed so that the state doesn't cancel my medicaid. I have a big expense coming up in the form of car registration ($200 for my 20yo vehicle because it was fancy when it was new) in April. I gotta do my taxes.

My mom's birthday is on the 6th and it's causing me internal angst because while i want to be the bigger person i also want to be a petty bitch (simplistic version of events). like i know i will be actively Choosing To Be Rude and Behave Poorly by not *checks notes* saying anything about it, or planning on thanking them if they mention my own birthday in about a month.

because i'm...i'm doing my best to cut them off. Because they have treated me poorly and no amount of explanation will ever mean anything to them because all that will happen is i will be gaslit *again* about how none of the things i know are things actually happened, and they will *fully believe their own shit*. because they don't think those things happened. They don't believe any of the stuff I say at all.

so i'm just. i'm stressed and anxious and kind of freaking out about money stuff in general (i'm okay right now but i need to figure out something longer term than just limping along on Gifts From Family which are inconsistent and subject to drop off if I actually just stop communicating with everyone)

oh yeah and also i need new glasses...and preferably new contacts too but i don't think insurance will cover both, and my prescription is expensive.

so yeah. i might be trying to avoid going to bed because i don't want to be doing this while laying in the dark. at least sitting up in the living room has the potential for me to be productive on *something* while i do a mini spiral into the anxiety-zone.

I've saved up a couple of these over the past few months in a notebook, but it's sometimes hard to remember the entire idea when it's been so long. This one came to me eating breakfast, thinking about all of the different fandoms I've left over the years. Fond memories! Except for the embarrassing ones, haha.

The first law of thermodynamics states that energy can't be created or destroyed, simply converted from one form to another. I'm sure this is something that many people learn in grade school and then forget. Additionally, if you somehow took a class or watched a documentary where they talk about space, you might know about the star death cycle (or, if you watched, like, interstellar. I'm not sure if they discuss that there). This is about writing, so why am I mentioning physics? I wasn't even very good at science - but it's because of fandoms. Dead fandoms, specifically.

I don't believe that dead fandoms are as common as people make them out to be. To me, a fandom is only truly dead when it has reached a complete zero - no fans, no new material, no attention or movement in any way whatsoever. As long as one person is still there, being a fan of something, it's still kicking! Someone still loves it. And that takes a very long time, for the most part. If it's on the internet, it's going to find its way into someone's view, even if it's been years since it was released. Plus, social medias have a way of making the most random bullshit trend, so who's to say that it won't have a resurgence years or decades after the fire has died down (think about things like remakes)? Not to mention that creators are also often fans of their own works.

So, if what normally constitutes a 'dead' fandom doesn't apply in these conditions; then what exactly are these 'dead' fandoms? If they're not dead, what sort of fucked up schrödinger's cat are we keeping in that box? I've created a couple of different categories, because just saying that they're not dead isn't enough for me.

They're not dead, just colder (Neutron Star): you were used to seeing this fandom always at the top of the trending tabs, fans always popped up under the most random shit, and now? It's like they never even existed! Once in a blue moon you'll see a profile picture of it, but it's rare. That doesn't mean that the fandom is dead. A lot of fandoms are like fireworks; they burn hot and bright, only to fizzle out fast and suddenly. It usually results from that fandom having an unnatural boom in popularity. Most people don't fixate on things for too long, and move along with the trends. Not dead!

They're not dead, just older (White Dwarf): the most common type of dead fandom, but the quietest. Usually, it stems from the lack of new content from the creator(s). Nothing crazy, and it's just part of the natural cycle that fandoms take - nothing can keep intense momentum forever, after all. The dedicated fans stay, but there's less overall hubbub. Not dead!

They're not dead, just cancelled (Black Hole): I've seen a crazy uptick in fandoms that end this way over the last few years. The creator does something that causes them to be cancelled en-masse online, and as a result many people jump ship, or the media becomes really shit. Funnily enough, this type is the closest to death. No one wants to stay in company that has been written off by most of the internet, and the ones who stay usually support their wrongdoings or are just children (ie. easily manipulated). Unfortunately not dead!

There's usually a mix of these three types that make up the reasons why a fandom 'dies' in the public's view, because death isn't an easy thing to figure out the cause of. I'll circle back to the title of the post now, so this all makes sense; new energy cannot be created, only converted into other forms. A star will die, but how fast that end comes is decided based off of its size. What the fuck have I brought these two ideas to the table for? (I promise it's not just to give my categories cute star-related names.)

Fandoms don't really die. I mean, you think about whatever kid's show you were really into as a kid, and you might not be a fan, but you still think of it fondly, no? Death is such a difficult thing for a fandom to reach, because it's less about dying and more about forgetting. Whatever old enthusiasm you had about that thing doesn't die, either. You don't forget how to feel excited over things that are up your alley, do you? It just changes forms, into a new fandom, into something that might be similar but better. It's not a new concept I'm talking about here, it's just thermodynamics.

Stars die, but it's not like they cease existing. They don't poof away - there are different forms they can take, but they're all corporeal in some way. They're all still there. It's the same way with fandoms, I think. The content is still there, so it's not really dead, because it's not really forgotten. The form that they take in the end, whether cancelled or hated or beloved, it's different but it's still a star. Their remains might be used to build new stars, new galaxies that needed that fuel source that will eventually become long forgotten. It may make a vacuum that consumes everything in sight, until something else comes to fill its place. The process to that death takes millions of years. It's all so interesting and terrifying and makes you think that maybe it's not worth it to be near a star at all.

I'm leaving this off with a note of encouragement, as someone who's written a lot of original stories that never got attention, characters that were scrapped or dumped on me 'divorce-custody of the kids-style', fandoms that I've left; it's so worth it to waste that time. There's no such thing as destroyed energy and there's no such thing as wasted time when it's something you enjoyed doing. Join whatever fandom you want at whatever dedication level you wish to give it. It's all here to have fun with, anyways. Art is here to make us feel. It wants to be remembered. Your art isn't dead, as long as you're still a fan of it. Your OC doesn't die until you tell them to.
